Walking into a yarn shop like it's an art museum. Admiring all the colorways and textures of the various skeins. Nodding my head at the tasteful displays of handmade items by the local knitting/crochet group to demonstrate the different yarn brands. Talking to the owner to learn more about the local fiber art scene and learning about different dyers, and crafters in the area that I would have never found on the internet. Buying one too many skeins to continue my pursuit of creating beautiful things to bring joy into mine and others lives. My way of paying homage to this wonderland of fibrous beauty.

"there is no ethical consumption under capitalism" "you can criticize capitalism while participating in it" are both true and valid statements. but if you care about anti capitalism, your hands aren't wiped clean. acknowledging the problem is only the first step

yes, you can make money to survive & buy things to have fun. you can get things that aren't necessary to treat yourself. you can work your way up the corporate ladder.

some people resign themselves to their fate, as though capitalism is the way that things must be forever. but there's still questions you should ask yourself before deciding to drop all attempts at working against the system:

do you support/promote the culture of excessive buying?

how do you treat poor or otherwise disadvantaged people?

do you support local libraries, local businesses (if you can afford to), or other local organizations?

do you vote in favor of social services and education?

do you vote at all?

do you buy things in quantity over quality(lifespan) when you have the money to do either?

not everyone is an activist, but everyone has the power to vote with their money and with their ballot. telling yourself that there's no ethical consumption isn't a get out of jail free card. you don't have to be perfect or have to shop outside of your means or really go out of your way at all to take actions against capitalism. the main thing is that you care about people, your community, the environment, etc enough to care about your behaviors. that's all we can ask of anyone. to care

some pieces are stretched, some are unstretched, some are on paper, some are on panel. If you prefer I flat-ship something to you, or do the inverse and ship a painting currently stretched as a roll, let me know.

You will pay for shipping so feel free to make any specification you want about it within reason. I'm going to default to USPS but if you would genuinely pay art shipping prices I'll do my best to do that!

A low offer that you can pay me is better than no offer, I promise. Just don't be a dick about it if you can in fact afford a little more.

Unstretched canvas, roughly 2x3 feet

Blick brand wooden panel, probably 8x10in

recycled wood so fairly hefty. Something like 3x3ft

paper, something like 40x30in (standard poster board size)

bristol board, a little over standard Letter size (maybe A4?)

flat canvas board. Probably also A4 size

it might be a piece that lives back in Panama (in which case, DM me about it and I can attempt to sort out the more complicated shipping from there anyhow!)

it might be a print and not a painting-- I am working on getting a permanent shop up and running for my prints !

-- Poorly Constructed Enchanted Tool --

A small tool carved from a fruit tree seed. Energy to power the enchantment has seemingly run-out long ago, and the method of recharging is unknown - but, based on the appearance, it's very likely that this was once used for detecting magic. Usually, looking through the glass center would highlight areas of higher magical energy concentration present in the viewer's environment, even if they were otherwise obscured to the naked eye. While this form of enchantment itself is highly advanced, the craftsmanship of the item is far less neat or complex than what might be typically seen in similar devices. It may have been made as part of training/practice, or as a hasty replacement for a previous tool that had broken.
