The Heart’s Rage
Butler Jade x reader
Your fingers trembled.
Digging them into the walls, plaster cutting deep into your nails. Hands closing around a hilt, squeezing tight. Clad in leather, wrinkled with age. An old sword, framed onto the walls of your mansion.
For too long has it stood upon its lofty perch, staring down at you tantalisingly. The gleam of the metal mocking you, in the gentle morning light. It taunts you, challenging you to grasp its hilt.
Today, you shall.
A metallic stench wafted into your nostrils, stinging like a thousand wasps. The stench of rust, a crimson red along the blade. A metal that once was stainless, now crumpling to dust, bit by bit. Nothing could stand against the gruelling march of time forever, yet you hoped. You dared to hope.
Hoping that this blade had some life to it yet.
Storming down to the courtyard, you fling that insufferable letter down. With a heave, you thread it underfoot, stomping it into disarray. Sword held ready, you swing it down, that blunt blade stabbing through the papers. Absolutely skewering its contents into nothingness.
That flowery prose that sent shivers down your spine. That self assured manner which the sender carried themselves with, the sheer confidence that you would accept their proposal. The audacity of them to make plans for a wedding, without even consulting you.
It disgusted you.
Expletives were uttered as you stabbed, pressing your body weight into every blow. Sword striking again, again, and again. Sweat dripped down your brow, slipping into your eyes.
The salt stung, tears dripping out of your eyes. Emotions burning red hot, searing your veins like molten lava. Everything hurts. Your arms, aching from the exertion. Your back, throbbing away incessantly.
Your heart, slighted and offended. Doomed to be married off to another, without a single thought given to your opinion.
Planting the sword firmly onto the ground, your legs give way. Crashing to the earth, hands still grasping the hilt desperately. Your forehead brushes against the blade, weighed down with despair.
Your lips part, to form a single word. A curse, a plea, just something. Anything to release that stifling pressure pressing down on your chest.
“Fuck.”
Soft. A handkerchief was brushed gently over your forehead, down to your cheeks, before finally wiping your neck. Gathering all the sweat with one fluid motion. A gloved hand cupped your cheek, the linen brushing against your skin. A pair of mismatched eyes peered into yours, brows pressed together in concern.
“Master, you really shouldn’t use such crass words.”
His gaze flickered towards the letter. Or rather, what remained of it. Moving his shoes over the scattered remains, he nudged the pieces in place. A sigh, as fragments form into readable words. A name was all Jade needed, before his feet planted themselves firmly into the paper.
“That family is certainly… determined, are they not?”
You groan, an insufferable sound.
“Determined isn’t the word I’ll use. More like desperate. I’ve shot them down again, and again. Yet they haven’t taken a single hint.”
Jade shrugs. A casual movement that has his shoulders rippling through his suit. Smooth, like the crystal clear waters rushing down a stream.
“Perhaps they were… a little too blinded by your prestige, my dear. Perhaps your wealth was another factor.”
A sharp click fell from your tongue.
“They’ll never have it. They’ll never have me.”
A low chuckle. Jade brings his fist upwards, laughing into his glove.
“How admirable, Master. Yet the longer you remain unwed, more and more… suitors will come crawling out of the woodwork.”
The word suitors was said in a low, menacing voice. Positively dripping with venom. For a moment, a shadow shrouded Jade’s face. A sinister expression one might find in a horror film… on the killer himself.
However, one blink and it was gone. Wiped cleanly off his face like it never existed. Although a deathly chill still ran down your spine, all the same.
“Honestly, Jade. I’m tired of this.”
Leaning back, you plonk yourself on the ground. Arms stretched out behind you, supporting your weight. Dirt and grass presses into the plush of your palms. Silvers of pain stabbing through your skin.
Although, compared to the pain of a sword’s hilt? You prefer these emerald blades of grass instead.
A rustle of cloth, as Jade takes a seat next to you. His slender legs bumping against yours, shoulders just barely grazing your own. Hand sneaking towards yours, Jade threads his fingers through yours. Clutching it firmly.
Not tightly enough to hurt, but not loose enough for you to slip out of his hold.
You shoot him a quizzical gaze, holding up his hand. Jade gently presses his other hand over yours, folding your fingers into the back of his palm.
His touch was cold. The refreshing temperature of a lake in the summer, transparent drops of water twinkling in the sunlight. They lap against your skin, delightfully cool. Unconsciously, your fingers grow just a smidge tighter.
Pulling his palm closer.
Pulling him closer.
Closer to you.
Jade lowers his head, lips pressing into your fingertips. Light, fleeting kisses alighting upon your skin. First, they’re on the very tips of your fingers. Then, he slowly moves up, the plush of his lips resting on each of your knuckles. Before he slips to the back of your palm.
Pressing a gentlemanly kiss into your hand.
His glance flickers up, eyes gleaming in the sunlight. Filled to the brim with adoration, a certain slyness lurking deep within. He holds you ever so gently, a lover’s touch.
“Well, if I may be so bold…”
Moving a little closer, Jade’s voice lowers into a sultry purr. Velvet, wrapping you within his arms. Yanking you closer to him, a mere fish in the clutches of an eel.
Honestly? You don’t really mind.
He could squeeze you to death, if it meant you’ll live the rest of your days in his embrace.
“Perhaps the best way to avoid any more.. suitors would be to.. elope, ourselves.”
His grip grows tighter.
A silent threat?
A promise of passion?
A gesture of affection?
Either way, he’ll never let you say no.
“What do you say, Master?
Would you grant me the honour of your hand?”

The brothers playing UNO
I'm finally back with hq's!! I've been playing sm UNO with my family lately and it always ended up in a chaotic fight so naturally I had to write this :'D
Lucifer Mammon Leviathan Satan Asmodeus Beelzebub Belphegor
Warnings: heavy language
Gender: neutral
You introduce the brothers to this game hoping for some quality bonding time with a fun twist, but oh how wrong you are
It takes a lot of time to even get all of them on board, because the bright colors of the cards aren't to everyone's liking *cough* Lucifer *cough*
"MC, I don't have the time for a children's game."
"Noooo, it's super serious trust me!'
Oh sweet, clueless you. You have no idea how serious it will get with these demons
After gathering everyone around the table it takes another eternity to get them all to listen to you explaining the rules
"And why exactly can't I put a 2 on a +2, huh?"
"Mammon, if you ask this stupid question one more time-"
"Shut the fuck up already and listen!"
You silently thank the gods that Satan is more irritated by their bickering than your explaining, but you do slowly realize that this might be a bad idea. The image of the angry demon receiving a +2 (or God forbid a +4) is starting to haunt your mind and sends a shiver down your spine
The frown on Lucifer's face confirms that he most likely shares that worry with you which is probably a sign that you should maybe stop the game before you even start playing, but who are you to make responsible decisions, huh? Ride or die bitches!
Once the cards are dealt all hell breaks lose...not. It's going surprisingly fine. The brothers seem to understand the rules just perfectly and you begin to relax
This seems good! This seems fun! This-
"Why would you have me pull 4 cards?! How can you look at this stunning, beautiful, wonderful face and backstab me like this?"
"Calm down, Asmo. It's just a game."
"It's betrayal!"
"I want red."
"Ya son of a- ya know damn well that I don't have that color!"
From this point on it's becoming a giant mess of cursing, yelling and disowning one another
Beel is quick to calm down though since he's being promised snacks everytime the poor man has to pull more cards
Lucifer pretends he doesn't have fun, but you can see the competitiveness in his eyes. Every card he throws, every move he does is deeply calculated
"UNO!"
"When did ya get rid of all your cards?!"
"UNO my ass!"
"We can't let him win!"
After that Levi ends up with about 20 cards and 5 mental breakdowns
Lucifer is the next one to have only one card left and Satan of course prevents it by wishing for a color he knows for sure that the first born doesn't have
"But Satan, you don't have that color either.", you whisper to him
"I'd rather eat a five course meal Solomon made than watch this bastard win."
"Fair enough."
At that point no one is playing normally anymore. The brothers are pulling cards until they get a +2/+4 JUST to prevent people from winning
You've never seen Belphie this awake and concentrated
"This game is so stressful, I can literally feel it ruining my skin."
"Then give up already."
"Only over my dead cold body!"
Beel is the only one genuinely enjoying having a pile of cards in his hands, because that means he gets tons of food from the others
The only person they don't get mad at is you, but it's impossible to win in this chaos so you're stuck there
After three hours of constant fighting and everyone almost winning, Satan loses it by throwing his cards across the table. That causes an outrage and you're quickly gathering all the cards to not have the mad demons accidently rip them to shreds
No one notices you leaving the area and closing the doors behind you, sighing to yourself
So UNO definitely wasn't a good idea, but thankfully there are many other games you could introduce them to
Maybe you'll have more luck with Monopoly?
Masterlist

Okay. It's official. I fucking hate the way Choices is dealing with the "MC gets kidnapped" shit
They're focusing on the plot to the detriment of any emotional stakes, which is always a bad move but it's a particularly bad move when we barely understand what the threat is this time but have been missing these characters and wanting to see them again for three years. Every expression of feeling over MC's kidnapping feels rushed and squeezed in, like they're trying to get it out of the way so they can get back to the Valax shit. Imtura, Nia, and Mal made up in five seconds without us even understanding how exactly this awful fight went down to begin with. MC explains what happened while they were in captivity and they all just go to sleep. Not even a "holy shit MC, are you okay?" or "we will end her" or anything. We don't even get a general line of how they reacted like "they were horrified" "they were angry" "they were sad" "they didn't give a flying fuck" or something.
Even Imtura's grief, while definitely the best written one out of the four, felt like it was dealt with in seconds (I'm yet to play with my Imtura-romancing MC in my other acc so I'm not sure how it goes with her in the bathhouse but it shouldn't take romantic involvement for the grief to last). Even when Valax shows up a second time it doesn't feel like they're as terrified of the idea of losing MC again as they should be
There are some pretty good angsty lines and moments but they always pass so quickly it feels like they're brushing it all off. It almost feels like fanservice. "See, here, your LI kisses you as if pouring all the longing of a year into it. And then you go to sleep. Happy?" No, actually. For fuck's sake, you have to dig deeper than that
The only moment we had that wasn't plot related was bathhouse scene, which was cute, but felt entirely out of place. They just made up, they still don't even know what happened to MC, if MC's okay, they barely had the time to catch up and they're just carefreely dunking each other in the water? It could have been played like a cathartic "finally having fun after so long of suffering" sort of deal at least and then it would work, but it simply wasn't written that way and it just feels like their entire dynamic is botched and weird and we're supposed to forget that for the last year MC was gone and Imtura had a massive fallout with the rest of the group. They keep alternating between these super dramatic declarations and lines and acting as if nothing has happened, and it just doesn't work. Take the time to deal with the emotional consequences of the LITERAL INCITING INCIDENT OF THE STORY, then you can jump into battles against the big bad hot gorgeous goth woman. This just feels like they don't want to deal with it and are just throwing some lines here and there so we don't complain
Don't get me wrong, I'm generally enjoying the story and I'm happy to have the gang back, but PB's not doing their own plot justice, especially considering they've supposedly been writing this for three years. The emotional stakes are always what carries a story, even a fantasy/action one. We have to care about the characters, which we do because we have since book 1, but it doesn't seem like the story does and it gets more and more disappointing every week

How easily do the ROs get jealous over their partner? And how do they act when they're jealous? (I'm asking about HB and RA but feel free to just answer any you feel are most fun!!)
These are assuming something like someone being flirty with the MC in front of them, rather than the MC actually cheating on them or something. I've done ones for Royal Affairs and Honor Bound - you can tell I'm in the middle of writing Honor Bound and leading up to these kinds of conversations because I've basically written essays about all those characters, haha!
Royal Affairs:
Asher: really tries not to be, because they see it as a character flaw, and may end up being a bit passive/bottling it up before saying something
Beaumont: would say something in the moment, probably fairly quietly and briskly
Dominique: not particularly jealous, unless they were being excluded or people were being careless about Dominique's feelings, in which case they might sulk
Hyacinthe: would be very bright, polite, and cheerful in the moment but would worry about it afterwards even if it was not something either party considered serious
Javi: would be quite irritable and snippy, and would want to have reassurance after the fact but not want to ask for it
Trevelyan: might be pointedly off-putting to someone who they thought was being over-familiar
Honor Bound:
Honor Bound's setting is one where polyamory is much more of a social norm, but of course that doesn't mean jealousy vanishes...
Denario: really depends on who the person is - he'll be less jealous if it's someone he gets along with and will be genuinely chill about it, but if it's not he'll be prickly and angry towards the other person. Denario isn't someone who has a lot of serious romantic relationships but if he does, he wants everyone to be on the same page.
Fiore: gets preoccupied, overthinks it (were they imagining it? was it meant seriously? is it ok for them to dislike it if it wasn't meant seriously?), may not therefore communicate super clearly and their anxiety may manifest in other ways (can you tell this is something they may have been through before?). If it's Savarel pre-triad-romance, they have mixed feelings because they like the MC and they're liking starting to get to know Savarel too, but are in a bit of a "I don't know who I'm jealous of" overthinking-spiral.
Korzha: briskly cuts off the moment and would ask the MC what's up pretty soon afterwards. They have a lot more tolerance for it if it's someone they like (and if it's Matia pre-triad-romance, they're intrigued and don't really get why - "they enjoy seeing Matia and the MC having a nice time together! that's the only thing going on!") but if it's someone they don't, they will be clear that they don't find it a nice thing to be around and may be a bit disdainful about the other person.
Matia: genuinely doesn't really feel too fussed about jealous feelings. If they were getting repeatedly excluded, they'd say something, but they quite enjoy seeing a partner enjoy themselves flirting or dancing with someone as long as everyone's having fun. They will say something if they think someone's liable to get hurt, though, or if it seems to be going into more serious/emotional territory, and they like to be straightforward about this kind of thing. In a Korzha pre-triad-romance, they can't help but feel a bit jealous that Korzha is opening up to someone else so quickly, but they're determined to keep the relationship positive between the three of them.
Raffi: doesn't feel particularly jealous about flirting or physical stuff - while it feels delightful and special to be doing it, there isn't an emotional weight to it for them (they're very happy to be either monogamous or polyamorous, it's just that they don't feel worried by a partner doing that). But they don't really know how to deal with feeling romantic jealousy because they tend to kind of... assume it's a fling unless told otherwise and are quite used to not being someone's primary partner. They're quite accustomed to being chill about this stuff and aren't quite sure how to assert themselves.
Savarel: they aren't impressed if something that makes them feel jealous happens with someone whom they don't like; they're more relaxed about it if it's someone they like more. If it's Fiore pre-triad-romance, they don't know what to do with those feelings at all because they are in a state where they struggle with wanting things for themselves. If it's someone else, they may be be more snippy about it (if it's someone they don't like) or more on the curious side, wanting to figure out where their partner is at.

Hallo! Regarding the LIs/characters, what would they do if they're feeling really angry/violent/about to go batshit yandere crazy and MC just kinda, gives them a cooldown hug and a gentle kiss on their lips? Like, who just freezes up and blushes, continues the kiss/makes it longer, etc.
I decided to add Aki, not that she would get as angry as the others but I just thought it'd be fun to write angry Aki :3 Also this was hard just cause I think it would take a bit to get certain characters to that level of anger, which would definitely be possible with this scenario, but a lot of them wouldn't even let you two stick around whatever/whoever is getting them angry. A few are also REALLY good at hiding their emotions(Mainly Kei lol)
TW: Creeps, harassment(Not like extreme harassment but there's forceful wrist grabbing and mentions of gross lewd things said to you. I try not to be super descriptive, but just in case it still may be triggering, skip over this post if these topics trigger you) The keep reading is under the scenario for these trigger warnings :3
Scenario: You were out on a date with your s/o, having a blast as you typically do with them. But of course, creeps have to ruin all the fun. They ignore your s/o, and if they acknowledge them then they d it to put them down. You could tell your s/o was getting annoyed with the creeps words, but it got worse when the creep decided it would be a good idea to grab your wrist and try pulling you away from your lover.
Minato: He's pissed, like the most angry you've ever seen him. Normally your giant of a boyfriend is very calm and gentle and can maintain that image even if he's feeling protective. It was scaring you a bit if you were honest. Despite your nerves, you hugged Minato. You knew he would calm down if you showed that you were fine. Feeling his body tense in your arms was something you were used to feeling, it never failed to amuse you though. Minato turned around slightly to face you, calming down significantly just from seeing you okay. Still, you pulled him down and planted a soft and gentle kiss on his lips. Minato bluescreens and makes no effort of pulling away. After calming down slightly, he forgets about the person who pissed him off, now all he wants is to go home with you.
Haruto: Haruto instantly has the creeps wrist in a death grip, looking at them with an expression you've never seen on Haruto before. You knew he could be protective and clingy, he'd get jealous if you even looked at a person, but you've never seen this expression. Maybe he had been holding back his jealousy for your sake and so he finally snapped. You hugged him, trying to pull him away from the creep, and thankfully it worked! You made Haruto face you so he wouldn't have to see the person any longer and he would calm down. Still, he tried glaring at the person, so you pulled him down and pressed a kiss to his lips. His eyes widened as his eyes looked at you own closed ones, he ended up melting into the kiss. Almost forgetting the creep, but when he remembered he smirked into the kiss as the creep walked away.
Jun: Jun pulls you away from the creep and holds you in her arms. "Y/n is mine! Stay away you creep, don't ruin our date." Jun starts off all pouty and clingy like usual. "Why are you still with this shorty? I could absolutely treat you better." The rando said, grabbing your wrist again. "Hey, let go!" You try pulling your hand out of the grip the creep has on you. Jun's grip around your waist tightens slightly, not enough to hurt you though. Jun covered your eyes before digging her long nails into the creeps wrist, drawing blood. "Don't EVER touch Y/n again." Jun's voice was low and the grip around your wrist disappeared. "Jun, let's just leave..." You grabbed Jun's cardigan, hoping to stop her, but it didn't work, she was still pissed. You just wanted to get away from that creep so you continued to grab Jun's cardigan and try pulling her away. Thankfully, it wasn't too difficult to drag Jun away but she was still extremely pissed, clenching her fist and glaring in the direction that you two just came. You tried calming Jun down by talking but no words seemed to soothe him. You weren't sure what to really do, so as a last resort you pressed a kiss to her lips. You smiled feeling Jun relax on your lips, pressing a kiss back on your lips. After pulling away, Jun looked down in embarrassment and shame. "Sorry Y/n...I lost my cool and looked unflattering." When she looked at you she felt her worries wash away seeing your comforting smile.
Hoshi: "Hah? Let go of them ya fuckin' creep." Hoshi looks at the creep with disgust, slapping the rando's off your hand. The creep's brows furrow as he starts defending himself. "Do you hear yourself, you sound so stupid?? Don't touch my fucking partner you disgusting pervert." Hoshi stepped in front of you, shielding you. "Uhhh Hoshi lets just go?" You gripped the side of his shirt, trying to get his attention and pull him back. "Go follow your owner, mutt." The creep laughed and shoved Hoshi back. Hoshi was quick to recover and instantly landed a punch of the creep's face, causing the rando to stumble back. Hoshi Started kicking the creep, laughing at them and taunting them. Despite wanting to stop Hoshi, you also didn't want to get caught in the crossfire or risk Hoshi taking his anger out on you, not that you think he'd hurt you physically on purpose, but maybe you'd catch him at the wrong time and he wouldn't be able to stop the momentum of his fist and therefore hit you. You waited until he was gasping for breath, standing over the creep with his fists clenched. You walked over to him and pulled him away from the creep, pulling his face towards yours to try and ground him, you ended up pulling a bit harder then you meant though because your lips ended up on Hoshi's, still you made no plans of moving, it was meant to be. You smiled into the kiss seeing Hoshi come to his senses as his face turned red with realization of what was happening. After pulling away Hoshi's eyes remained wide and he looked down shyly. "Let's go home." You said quietly, Hoshi just nodded and grabbed your hand, dragging you away from that scene.
Habiki: Habiki glares down at the hand holding your wrist with disgust before slapping it away and pulling you closer to him, continuing on your date. The creep doesn't stop pursuing though and Habiki is getting more and more fed up, with the creep, with himself, with seeing you uncomfortable, with seeing how you telling the creep "no" and "stop" gets ignored. He's done. Quickly and without hesitation he punches the person bothering you before running off with you, trying to lose them. Thankfully it works. "Should've done that from the get-go, I'm sorry. I thought they'd take the fucking hint." Habiki sighs, holding your hand and rubbing it in a comforting manner, though he'd understand if after that situation you didn't want to be touched and he wouldn't push it at all. "It's fine...well it's not, I'm upset that happened, but you're okay, no need to blame yourself. Let's just go home." Habiki gives you a smile and nods, heading home for a nice at home movie date. However night time rolls around and Habiki can't stop thinking about the situation that happened earlier, and the more he thinks about it the more pissed they're getting. Habiki ends up not sleeping that night. The next day he goes out to get some coffee and whatever you want to drink or eat. He see's the creep while he's out though and his brows furrow again and he's awake 100%. Before he even knows what's happening, his body moves on it's own as he goes up to the guy and punches him. He continues to beat the guy up until he hears your voice. Without meaning to, he turns around and glares at you, still you don't back down, you've gotten used to those glares. You pull him down and kiss him, his glare disappearing as he finally relaxes, the anger dissipates. After you pull away, you bonk him on the head gently. "You forgot your wallet." You hand him his wallet and he thanks you. "Wanna continue our date from yesterday? I don't think anyone will bother us anymore." Habiki smirks as you nod. Safe to say, the situation blew up online and people knew not to mess with you.
Kage: Kage stares at the hand grabbing your wrist and tensing up. Now would be a time to protect you, try to land some sort of hit on this person...but they're frozen. Kage has 50+ ways to protect you running through their mind and they aren't sure which one to do. He can't think straight on the methods of protecting you because he's also hyperaware of what the creep is saying, about him, and about you. With each disgusting word the creep says to you, Kage feels himself getting more and more pissed. Kage had enough when the creep leans closer to you trying to whisper some more disgusting shit in your ear. The punch wasn't super strong, but a lot of Kage's anger went into that punch so it was better then any other punch Kage had thrown. Still, it wasn't enough to get the creep to stop grabbing your wrist. "F-FUCK OFF! I'm already dating Y/n!" Kage grabbed the creeps wrist, trying to pry it off of yours. Kage couldn't think straight, this was too much for him! His mind was blank, his legs were shaking horribly, but his arms still worked in a fit of adrenaline. Things didn't end up going as planned. Kage got his concaved ass(sorry) handed to him, but at least you were safe. Kage smiled to themselves, there might have been some bruising from the grip the rando had on you earlier, but other then that, you were well physically, and Kage could be there for you mentally as well. Still, Kage didn't really want to leave it there, the creep was hardly injured and Kage was pissed about that. Mustering all of their remaining strength to get up, Kage started walking towards the rando, thankfully you pull them back. "Kage, don't. Lets just go home okay?" Honestly it was amazing that Kage didn't snap out of this adrenaline rush at the contact, that's what made you realize how serious this was. Positioning yourself in front of Kage to try and snap him back to reality you notice his eyes were completely set on the creep and he had a little smirk on his face. You weren't sure what to do, so you leaned in and kissed Kage. Kage didn't process what was happening until they realized they needed air. Their face completely flushed and they pulled away, panicked. You sighed in relief, happy to have your Kage back. "Come on, lets get you patched up my hero." Yep that's it, Kage's completely overheated, practically melting. Your HERO??? oh gosh, Kage loves you so so much, they're so sorry for passing out.
Kei: Kei looks at the creep and then down at your wrist, then back at the creep and you wrist again. "Excuse me...do let go of my significant others wrist. I don't believe we know you, and I'm very certain I didn't hear my lovely partner say it was okay for you to lay your disgusting hands on them." Kei tries remaining calm, inside he's fuming, but you wouldn't be able to tell from an outsiders perspective. The creep doesn't let go though and Kei can feel his patience draining. Fast. Kei sighs and grips the things wrist tightly, glaring daggers at him, causing the thing to let go and recoil in slight pain. "I tried being nice." Kei says matter-of-factly, shrugging and he holds your hand and you two continue on with your date if you feel up to it, if not you two go home and watch movies and Kei will make you dinner. After he's sure you're asleep, he goes on his computer. He would LOVE to hold you in his arms and sleep with you, but he has business he needs to take care of. That thing from earlier, yeah he gets all the info on it. He heads out towards the address and kidnaps the thing, bringing it to an abandoned storage complex where dozens of skeletons remain, some bones moved and chewed up due to the wild animals he lets in. There Kei will make sure that the creep really learned it's lesson, making it feel stupid for not just accepting Kei's kindness the first time. Kei goes on for hours, finishing up with cutting the arms and legs off this thing and performing medical care so it won't die. He still wants to torture it. This continues for a few days, him making sure you're sleeping and then heading out to punish this thing. But he didn't account for you being awake when he got home after the 6th day. "Kei, where have you been going for the past 6 days?" Your arms are crossed and your brows are furrowed in anger, sadness, worry. You trust Kei mostly, but this just felt too weird. Leaving the house after he was sure you were sleeping? What was he being so secretive about? You finally caught notice of the blood covering his glasses and caught in his hair, then how his black clothing actually seemed kind of wet, ad gosh he reeked of blood. Kei chuckled, "I was just teaching a creepy little thing some manners, no need to worry my love." Kei doesn't go into detail, and honestly, you don't NEED to hear any details, you can already guess. After helping Kei clean up the blood on him you kissed him. "I can't go back in time and stop you from doing what you already did, just...tomorrow actually finish that person off. And stop hurting others Kei." You pout and Kei just chuckles. "I will finish it off tomorrow, love. I haven't done anything like that in a while, but that thing was touching you like it knew you and making you uncomfortable. As far as I'm concerned it deserved what it had coming for it." Kei doesn't have any plans to stop completely, but Kei will stop letting them live so long and will stop bringing in every person that touches you casually. Kei needs you, and most importantly, you need Kei.
Yani: Yani stares at the hand on your wrist with wide eyes. Maybe before Yani got with you she would've tried holding back some to not scare you away, but now she's dating you and you pretty much know everything about her. Yeah you want her to change and she has really been trying...but who the hell is this creep putting their hands on you without your consent??? Yani's pulling out the knife and stabbing the guys wrist, positioning itself in front of you. "Don't touch Y/n without their consent..." Yani is glaring daggers at the creep before turning around and looking at you with a smile. "Sorry Y/n but they touched you so suddenly on our date, I was just protecting you!" Yani leans in to kiss you but stops right before your lips, "Besides, they're alive so it's alright, right?" Yani smiles before pressing the kiss to your lips. Everything happened so quickly that you didn't even get to calm Yani down, she calmed herself down with your lips :)
Aki: Aki glares at the guy before slapping his wrist away. "Hey, dude, ever heard of 'consent'?" She pulls you behind her in a protective manner. "Don't touch my partner again, they don't know you and are clearly uncomfortable." Without giving the guy a chance to respond or even think about touching you again, Aki pulls you away, clearly pissed. Once you two get somewhere away from that creep, she faces you, eyes furrowed in worry. "Are you okay? Like he didn't hurt you or anything, right?" Aki is checking your wrist for any bruising. Even if you say you're alright, Aki still kisses your wrists. "I kind of just want to go home. That was a nerve-racking experience." You give an apologetic smile to Aki, feeling bad about wanting to cancel your date early. "Hey, no worries! It's probably for the best and we don't HAVE to cancel our date, there's plenty of fun things to do a home!" Aki smiles as she interlocks her fingers with yours and starts heading home, however it's clear that the incident is still weighing heavily on her. "Aki, wanna talk about it?" Aki sighs before speaking. "I cannot believe that some people are like that! Like c'mon now, it's 2023, learn consent. Sorry for getting so mad, it's just frustrating that people still don't know decency and common knowledge." You giggle and press a kiss to Aki's lips, catching her off-guard and making her completely forget about her anger for now.

Okay...hear me out..but ear kisses for Sage.
Like just- MC and Sage are cuddling or smth and MC just cups his ear and plants a smooch right there.
And our boy would be sooooo flustered. And then MC plants more, and more and more. And he's just so giggly.
( on the more dirty side note.. cats ears are very sensitive, so with MC warm lips planted on his ears, breath trickling down his fur. He just freaks.)
- No-shame-anon 🤫
I think about Sage's ears. All the time. Actually.
GN!Reader, sort of a scene, suggestive headcanon stuff towards the bottom but nothing too intense so I won't be tagging it as NSFW or anything but I'll have a mini disclaimer, red text is Sage's thoughts, I haven't really done any writing in like a month so sorry if this is bad!!
Sage has always been very particular about his ears. He didn't let you touch them until he really trusted you (he says it was only because he was cold but you know how he is), and if anyone else tries then they get growled at/bit. And when you're brushing his hair, you have to be mindful of his ears. The bristles of the brush can be painful if you don't do it gently enough, and he doesn't like the feeling of it anyways.
But then he manages to get a bunch of gunk in his hair - and no you're not really sure how, he went out drinking with Tulsi and that's the best explanation you're getting - and you're the one that has to wash and comb it out.
So you do. Slowly, carefully, gently, trying not to pull too much. And he grumbles and growls and bites at the brush but that's what he always does anyways. Frankly, he's more well-behaved than usual, though that might just be because he wants it done faster. You talk to him throughout the process, trying to keep him calm. Tell a few stupid jokes, tease him here and there, that sorta thing. It seems to be working...
Until Stella wanders into your room.
Then Sage is trying to jump up to chase her away. You have to wrap your arms around him and hold him in place because running around will only make his hair/tangles worse. And the best way to get him to stop trying to run around?
Smooching his ear!
It stops him cold. Or, well, hot. His cheeks go red and he gets that adorable flustered smile on his face and his tail starts wagging wildly. The more you smooch him, the more he purrs. It's almost enough to make him forget about Stella.
Almost.
Then she hops on your bed and starts gnawing at your pillow and he actually does chase her away.
But now you know a new way to get him flustered!
---
The next time you try it is at the tavern. Sage is getting a little too overstimulated and he can't calm down on his own. It doesn't help that some of his old "friends" are riling him up. 'After all,' they say, 'Sage is only any fun to be around when he's plastered.'
Needless to say you don't like them.
Currently they're trying to pull Sage out of the booth and over to the bar to play darts and do shots. When he tries to turn them down they start needling him, saying he's gone soft. Is he really that whipped? Doesn't he wanna impress you? He better toughen up, or someone else is gonna catch your eye-
You promptly lean over and smooch Sage's cheek. His angry growl softens to an uneasy purr as he finally settles in his seat.
And then you very calmly tell the band to go pound sand (or something much more creative and violent, that's up to you). They finally do back off with a few more mumbled complaints, and you drag Sage out of the tavern to have an emergency cuddle session.
---
Back at Fathom, you've piled your bed full of soft pillows and warm blankets. Sage has his cheek on your shoulder, arms around your waist and tail around your knee. He's sobered up for the most part and is now in sulking mode.
He hasn't gone soft, damnit! He's still Sage Lesath, the super cool-and-sexy mercenary who can kick ass any day of the week! And sure, maybe he likes having his hair brushed and his head patted and his forehead smooched, but that doesn't make him any less badass!
... okay maybe a little less badass. But is that such a bad thing? He knows he doesn't deserve it, but-
You promptly smooch his ear. It's all soft and silky and flutters lightly against your lips. His words end in a surprised little stutter and the tip of his tail flicks and fluffs against your skin.
You keep kissing him over and over and over again while also petting behind his ears and that - combined with the buzzed state he's still in - quickly renders him a giggling mess.
No self-deprication for you!!
He deserves to be cared for and protected. He deserves to be soft if he wants to be. He deserves to be loved. And you'll keep reminding him of that as much as he needs.
He's giggling too much to even try beating himself up anymore. Except he's also purring at the same time so your chest/body is vibrating so much it feels like there's a mini earthquake.
Happy kitty cat :3
-----
Suggestive stuff below!! Nothing too explicit
-----
You don't even have to kiss him to get him flustered. You can just blow some warm air along the edge of his ear. It drives him up the wall.
His inner ear is softer than the backside. The fur is a little more delicate and overall just sensitive.
B,,bit,,,biting his ear?? Sorry that you're getting a little bit of fur in your mouth but ohohoho!! He's putty in your hands. His pupils get massive and he starts rubbing against you and purring and his tail won't stop wagging.
Sometimes when you brush his hair you give his ear a little kiss/bite and then you just get too darn busy to finish brushing!!
He genuinely will just start babbling and even drooling a tiny bit if you do it long enough. Especially if your breath is all warm and heavy and you whisper that he's being such a good boy for you,,,,, oooooh,,,,,, He Just Perishes™

Hello!!! I was kind of curious to know something to do with the “Rebel Rejects Trio” (I saw that name in one of the previous questions, I thought it was very funny and cute at the same time).
I wanted to ask a little question (but you don't have to answer if you don't want to), how would they react to Mc who ends up getting angry about something and suddenly kisses them to calm down?
And I'm sorry if it's a hassle, but could all three be a poly route or not? I couldn't read your answer when someone asked about this, and for some reason I couldn't find the question again (I don't know if it's a bug or not or if it's my mistake, but I'm still seeing it😅)
Hello! Super fun scenario! So I'm interpreting this as MC and the RO are arguing, and mid argument MC decides to kiss the RO to calm them down. And I'm also gonna set this in the crush stage since I think it'll be more fun than when they're official.
Roxanne/Robbie: *after the kiss* Mmm we should fight more often if it always ends like this. *leans in for more*
Joleen/Johnny: *after the kiss* Oh that was um *bites lip* really nice. Does that mean we're done fighting? Kissing is better than fighting, right? *lightly traces their lips, while looking at yours*
Delphine/Desmond: *after the kiss* Don't assume that this discussion is over. It was a nice kiss *smirks* but it'll take more than a kiss to distract me, babe.
And too answer your question about a Rebel Rejects poly route, I'm honestly not sure yet. I'm definitely considering one since people seem interested and it could be interesting to write. I think that I'll have a better idea once I've finished and released the demo. So ask me then 🤭

REVIEWS OF THE WEEK!
Books I’ve read so far in 2023!
Friend me on Goodreads here to follow my more up to date reading journey for the year!
___
221. United as One by Pittacus Lore--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
UNITED AS ONE was a rough read--not because of the writing, but because of the emotions. The level of grief was so heavy that I wanted to stop listening to the audiobook. I hurt so much for the characters and how self-destructive a certain character was acting because of their grief.
But much like the other books in the series, it was non-stop action and the conclusion was as exciting as the rest of the series, except this time there wasn't a cliffhanger.
I did enjoyment that epilogue and the connections between the characters and how they potentially go beyond the major events leading up to the final events of the book. I had never read this final book and I didn't know what to expect, but I'm glad that I finally have and can finally say that I understand the hype.
Now, I'm going to try to read the sequel series because this series had me in a stranglehold. If you're looking for something like this, I highly recommend the MICHAEL VEY series! This definitely gave me similar vibes!
___
222. King of Battle & Blood by Scarlet St. Clair--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I've been eyeing KING OF BATTLE & BLOOD for years and never took the dive. Having recently read FALL OF WRATH & RUIN by Armentrout, this gave me super similar vibes (but with a lot more sex). If you're looking for a book that focuses heavily on the fantasy element of a story, this ain't it. Instead, this is a spicy enemies to lovers where we get a lot of angry sex, jealousy, and a badass FMC who takes absolute shit from no one and straddles that morally grey line in a way that it's clear why she should be with her new husband.
I did like that twist ending (even though I guessed it from a mile away), but I think I'm going to just stick with this one for right now.
I really enjoyed the sass and how the FMC showed who she was and what would happen if someone disrespected her. I've read better paranormal romances, but this was definitely something that kept me hooked throughout the whole thing (more than I was expecting).
To be honest, I was worried I was going to be bored, but I was so entertained and I think a lot of romance lovers will be too if they don't expect too much from the fantasy side of the story.
I think one of the main themes, too, in this book is the importance of keeping an open mind when one of the characters is constantly being pushed to act against a group of people based on their biases. That was a surprising lesson to see in this book.
Anyway, I enjoyed the heck out of this and I had a bloody good time. It scratched an itch for this kind of romance I didn't know I had.
___
223. Wildfire by Hannah Grace--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Okay, straight up--was this as good as ICEBREAKER (for me)? No. Was it a lot of fun and just cute all around? Absolutely. I devoured this audiobook and giggled and just had such a sweet and fun time.
I WAS worried that it would suffer the sophomore book syndrome, but thankfully it didn't for me. I'm a sucker for books with characters like this and I think they all had a lot of growth in this book. They had their issues and traumas and I appreciated how the two MCs worked through them together. I also loved, as always, the communication that happened. One of the things I loved about ICEBREAKER was the communication and Grace continues this trend in WILDFIRE.
There isn't really a big climactic moment where a huge, third-act-break-up causing issues arises AND I AM OKAY WITH THAT. Sometimes I like my contemporary romances to be chaos-free and super simple. Let me just enjoy the good vibes.
I personally can't wait for the next book, especially because I love this universe and if Grace continues to write books like this and its predecessor, then I'm going to be hella swooning for the next few years!
What I didn't like as much in this one was that the trauma the FMC experienced was very similar to the trauma of the MMC in the first book. And you know, that's fine--but I want characters who bring something newer to the story. I think, also, what I loved a lot more about ICEBREAKER was that it was more of a slow burn. Yes, there was smut very early in the book, but the romance itself took a bit of time to form. This one felt a TINY bit insta-lovey.
All of that being said, I still enjoyed this and I'm looking forward to Henry's book!!!!
___
224. Bound to the Battle God by Ruby Dixon--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Having finished BOUND TO THE BATTLE GOD, I'm just left in complete shock. This is the same author that wrote ICE PLANET BARBARIANS, which is a pretty great book on its own, but this was so much more than I was expecting.
First of all, this is an adventure of a book. It has portal magic, a society that treats women pretty horribly to be honest, an epic road trip full of road traps and character growth, and a very grumpy and arrogant god. But you know what else we also get? Angst. Slow burn. Sexual tension that fills every page.
It was delicious.
We got to see these characters bonding against all odds and it was so addicting. I was attached to my kindle and no one could tear it away from me. One of my favourite things about addicting books is the urge I get to keep reading, real life be damned and I won't lie, sometimes this feels like an impossible ask but oh my gosh, this book.
And when the spice hit? Oooooooooof.
I think what I mainly loved about this was the friendship that built during this fantastical adventure. It felt like such a well-written fantasy book with a dose of tension and budding romance. It was more than its smut and I really have a lot of respect for Dixon for writing a book like that. I will definitely be owning a physical copy and will definitely pick up the second book (which is about another couple).
___
225. Their Vicious Games by Joelle Wellington--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I remember reading a portion of this a few months ago and really enjoying it. The beginning of THEIR VICIOUS GAMES was definitely something alluring. You're brought into this mystery and wealthy world where the elite are allowed to, essentially, do anything the hell they want. Especially with how they treat those they deem "other", like the not-so-wealthy main Black character. Even the half-Black characters are seen as "exotic" in a sexual way. Commentary like this made this book punch the reader to the point where you couldn't help but keep your attention on the story.
I loved the commentary on racism and how even if you have money, you're not absolved from your inability to be born as white. Other than the MC, there is an Asian character who plays a pretty pivotal role in the book. I loved this because it was like the author was saying that not even money can save you from racism; not even being included in one of the most powerful events erases the fact that you don't look like the many white people leering at you. This brought back memories of reading LEGENDBORN by Tracy Deonn, where even the most spiritually and magically powerful woman was mistreated because she was Black. The tokenism, too, of the supposed love interest (add an asterisk to that one) and how he sees the MC as someone "different" and more worthy of his attention because she was, again, "Different". Yes, I'm sure it was her daring character he was alluding to.
I mentioned at the beginning of this review that I read a bit of this a few months ago--I think it says a lot about the power of this book that I remembered so much of it months later. I think this brought a deeper level of nuance to a trope that is quickly becoming really popular in YA, thanks mainly in part to the popularity of THE INHERITANCE GAMES. Because yes, this had a lot of similarities to that series if it all had been one book and if people died in order to attain the fortune.
But while I enjoyed the dialogue on race and even the suspenseful moments when I didn't know who was going to live or die, something about this book felt off by the quick ending. I understand why it happened the way it did and honestly, I applaud the author for taking that route and staying true to the MC's character traits, but I won't lie if I say that I wouldn't mind a sequel. The story just feels like...it was wrapped up too neatly, or quickly? I wouldn't mind seeing more.
The funny thing is that as I write this review, I was going to go a different route. I had originally rated this lower, but as I wrote that first paragraph I changed my rating. This is definitely a fun thriller and a mystery of "who will win and what twist will come next?", but I think the main focus should be both the commentary on race AND the fact that these girls were so willing to do anything to succeed and become the next powerful person, even if it meant being a puppet. For me, it called to this obsession so many people have of getting to the top no matter what and the idea that you're entitled to more than others simply because of the happenstance of your birth and the way you look. And the drive that so many have to succeed, even if you get killed or kill yourself in the process because no success equals failure and no one is allowed to fail.
Anyway, I'm ending my rambling by saying that this was a good book and I think you should check it out, especially if you liked THE INHERITANCE GAMES & LEGENDBORN (although, there are no magic powers in this one).
___
226. The Chalice of the Gods by Rick Riordan--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was so excited when this book was announced because I loved Percy's misadventures in his dangerous world--especially because a lot of Riordan's original readers are either past this age stage, or are currently experiencing it, making it all the more relatable (save for the Gods, of course).
I'm not giving this a full five star rating because it was such a silly and fun read, but Percy being older reminded me of how old I am now and listen, no thank you LOL. But this had that same sense of adventure that we all grew to love and that made us wish that we had a Camp Halfblood to go to in the summer. I loved seeing Percy and Annabeth starting this new journey in their lives together, and of course, with Grover, too.
What I'm most excited about, though, is that the end of this book signals that there might be at least two more books in the works! I know there's already a next title announced, so I'm excited for those next couple of stories.
I do find it interesting that this is still categorized as a middle grade when this is technically a young adult title now. However, I will say that other than the very pure romance between Percy and Annabeth, this is a clean read for future young readers.
___
227. Thornhedge by T. Kingfisher--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I'm not going to lie: this is the only Kingfisher title I've not only finished, but thoroughly enjoyed. Third time's the charm, right?
THORNHEDGE was a bite-sized and sometimes adorable fable of not judging a person by their outside appearance. It also speaks to the dangers of thinking a pretty face is enough to think a person doesn't have less than ideal morals or ideologies.
This novella also delves into the incredibly fascinating topic of changelings. It was such an interesting take on it, especially on how the human is treated once they're pulled from the crib. I liked seeing the result of the MC's life and how she came to be the person who helps guide the "saviour" that dared to follow the map that the fairy tales he grew up reading made for him.
This story is tagged as horror and while I sort of get it because there's a character who does some pretty fucked up things, but I think this is mainly a fantasy book--especially with the magical look at the life the MC lives.
I loved how these two characters (the MC and the man) worked together and their immediate adorable chemistry. This story just left me feeling so cozy and happy--even with the evil changeling.
Read it, it's memorable, short, and a great read!
___
228. The Haunting by Natasha Preston--⭐️⭐️⭐️
THE HAUNTING is a ride of a book that begins with the misleading title (although I can see it as a "haunting" of past and present events, and ends with a cliffhanger ending that had me rewinding the audiobook and asking myself, "Damn, is that it?"
While it was a murderous bit of fun, Preston's newest novel is home to many of the tropes that have become more and more popular in YA slasher horror books. We get a torn and displaced small town, dead bodies turning up, and characters who are dealing with the trauma of having survived a serial killer the year before. I'll be honest: when I first started this, I thought it was a sequel. I genuinely thought that we were getting the aftermath of a past Preston book that featured all of the gruesome details glossed over in this book.
In a way, I'd almost prefer that one over this one.
For what it was, THE HAUNTING was entertaining and a fun and quick read for any spooky season lover. It had the brooding ex-boyfriend, the dangerous midnight outings, and the questionable friends. Someone in the reviews mentioned that this was a book full of SCREAM references and I agree. It felt very much like that, but I loved those creepy af movies, so I actually enjoyed that aspect.
The ending sort of ruined this book for me because I wanted more. I know it could be a way for Preston to have her readers feel some sort of way after reading a creepy book, but it just made me feel disappointed.
Overall, this was fun in its silliness and somewhat predictable reveal. Check it out if you want a slasher book that just has bodies popping up and friends suspecting each other.

just gonna rant about fanon sirius real quick don’t mind me & my rapid descent into incoherency. everything’s under a cut bc this serves no purpose.
i fucking hate when he’s conceptualised as this dramatic, over-the-top-angry, unreasonable manchild. actually, no. even one of those traits for him annoys me so much. people can write him however they want but atleast have the decency to slap an ooc tag on it if ur gonna butcher him that badly because he’s !!! not !!! like !!! that !!!
the only time he shows an ounce of ‘melodrama’ (and i have issues w that term) is during the shrieking shack which he waited over a dozen years for in hellish conditions. he’s probably starving, half delusional, and definitely a combination of angry and terrified out of his mind. he’s been single-mindedly focused on one task, has probably used it to fuel himself through all material and psychological obstacles, and now that it’s in front of him, of fkn course he’s not gonna wait around for tea and crumpets to be served.
every other instance we have of sirius is him being cool, collected, logical, and rational as fuck. i recently read the ‘padfoot returns’ chapter in gof for mc purposes and by god, i fell in love with him all over again. he’s so terrifyingly competent?? the way he’s gone through some of the most horrific trauma in the entire series, and his mind is still so sharp? his memory is impeccable? the way he joins dots and comes to conclusions? not just that, but he’s one adult who listens to and trusts the trio, treats them like children with the weight of the world on their shoulders, actually seems to see them without rose tinted glasses on.
and his entire speech about crouch/the ministry/snape???? this is not someone who mindlessly hates slytherins. fucking hell, he was giving snape the benefit of the doubt in that chapter. ‘i don’t think dumbledore would hire him if he was really on the other side’ (paraphrased) and this is where he makes the point about observing how someone treats their inferiors. sirius has so many layers and he’s such a complex character and he’s so wonderful in his own right it annoys me sm to see him dumbed down into this- not even 2D but massively ooc version of him. and again, like, i don’t mind ooc at all. i read tons of ooc character fics! it’s great and super fun! but for the love of god tag it that way.
and back to the being dramatic thing. this man lived in the same set of tattered robes, in caves, feasting on rats, generally not giving a single fuck. he tore chicken straight off the bone. lived on the run, breaking into people’s houses and roaming around as a dog. he’s not going to freak out over a broken nail or shriek or jump around for anything. when faced with a hostile molly weasley or a curious harry asking about his family (a sensitive topic) he chose to rely on cool answers and clipped tones, not outward explosions of anger. ugh. so much nuance, and it’s all gone just like that.
also adding on to this to say—he doesn’t even show that much anger or bitterness. my man literally forgave everyone who turned on him in a second. he literally didn’t blink before hugging remus. where are people getting some ideas of him from 😭😭

That other anon put it well; Salrya makes me so mad but it doesn't stop me from loving how complicated a character she is and all the emotions she brings out. It was even sorta funny to learn what was my nice MC's limit to their easygoing nature and see this other side to them I didn't even really know about. Salrya makes me angry, but in a fun way and it has led to finding out new sides to my MC that I'm looking forward to exploring deeper when the new chapter is out.
She is a rather infuriating character 😅 I didn't write her to be a nice, super sweet mother because I wanted to show the MC's childhood views of Salyra was based from a child's perspective and now that they're an adult, they can see Salyra without the rose tinted glasses that they used to view her with.
I'm glad her character has been able to make your MC explore more of their personality, especially since they're so easy-going 😅
Thanks for playing!

no one asked but here's my opinion anyways
things i hate seeing in fanfic [CW: i'm mean]
uwu shy smol reader: what.
gn!reader!! and then reader is not gender neutral: is it hard. is it so fucking hard for you. please log out for me
fem!reader with no tag/no warning: shut the fuck up shit the fuck up shut the fuck up. do you know people who aren't women exist. did you know that the world does not revolve around you? its not hard, it's 2 words, 10 letters. you are terminally stupid.
no commas: why,,,, why....
reader is completely helpless and useless: why would anyone want this???? please get some self respect
abusive/toxic relationships, with no tag: yeah thanks i love being abused by my favorite character this is so nice. unless you like angst why would you want this?? ah uh yeah, this character would totally abuse you and manipulate you <3 because that's just so them <333 yes this is totally canon and plausible wdym? <3333
"hey can reader do anything dominant or like be confident or assertive" no lol! this character who is dominant cannot not be in control! they will literally do anything to have the higher ground!! they will wrestle any bit of control out of your hands! and also they'll make fun of you and you will be all blushy and flustered an like "n-no character!! stoppp *uwu eyes*": what. are you okay? this is not healthy behavior i don't think
this character has 1 (one) personality trait and that is that they are incredibly mean and do not respect you as a human being!! you are nothing but a plaything to them! they are incapable of positive emotions!: i'm 90% sure this is some weird kink thing. also, why would you want this in a relationship.
character is mean to you and reader does nothing: no tf? i'm beating they ass. no one is allowed to disrespect me especially not my damn s/o
reader is so small and short and frail and petite and weak!! character needs to protect them!!!: stereotypes about a certain body type that piss me off
reader is flustered easily: it's really fucking annoying to me, idk why, honestly.
reader blushes: i'm black. people who are not pale read fanfic too yaknow. it's really not hard to just?? not write that??? you can be bashful/embarrassed/flustered in other ways
sub and/or bottom reader not being tagged: you are stupid. also, why is it always sub reader? why is it always bdsm? why the fuck
obviously, there are exceptions to each of these!
and authors are totally free to write what they want! i'd just like some sort of warning first before reading anything like this.
also, i'm confused on writers making it a point that reader is very much weaker/less smart (in any way) than the characters. if a character is super strong or intelligent, realistically reader would be less so. but why would you go out of your way to emphasize that? and why would you want this? you could literally be anything, the possibilities are endless, and you choose this?
these are almost all about annoying incompetent y/ns and unhealthy relationships
Simple: black people don't exist ❤️
In all seriousness I try to avoid certain troupes in my writing or at least try an justify what the reader does. I love angry or wild characters but I also like rational ones or MCS that have a feel or personality to them. For example this MC isn't shy, but it wouldn't be wise to start anything right now because of X or maybe they'll get revenge later.
As for nsfw I feel like ppl immediately assume bottom=sub when service tops and power bottoms exist. I usually write MC as a switch that can go either depending on my mood cause it's so boring if you just stick to one imo.
And the skin tones... I come from a mixed af family and have some black sisters that have a hard time finding content for them. It's why I try and keep MC as neutral as possible. Hell, my ocs are alien monsters that are cold-blooded they can't blush. So unless stated otherwise MC is completely up to the readers interpretation: Pale, Dark, Scaly, ect. For much more monstrous mcs that require more descriptions I tag it as monster mc.
My advice for people who dont really know how to write neutral. Describe actions or feeling of an MC that would make sense. Rather than blush why not say "they felt a little flustered/off guard" or "a flustered expression crosses their face." Try not to describe hair, and if you mention it even for a second, let people know.
As for characterizing MCS. It's okay to want to make a Mary sue or a weaker MC, as long as it's written well.
Give your readers a choice. "You decided to to punch them, whether it's because your exhausted or they're not worth the trouble, you don't know." Or give a bit of vague backstory. "You remember what happens if you stay out to long. Best to keep quiet/get home/be wary."
You can leave your readers or mcs backstory up to interpretation for the reader and hey is you get comments on your fics or discussions about then, like for example Food Truck Yuu/Beast Tamer Yuu then you can incorporate it into your work as people all decided to agree on what character they want to be. This way it doesn't feel like someone's OC but rather, developed instead.
Idk sorry for the weird rant advice it's just my take. Even I mess up sometimes you know?

this chapter was so so good. i’m glad to see how well mc is handling the 180 her life had taken. i was a bit unsure about mingi. all of their moments together were super cute but i also couldn’t take my mind off of how they had ended a couple years. but hopefully they can get to talking about it with no difficulty (whys it so hard for everyone to just TALK omg 😔) and wooyo omg. he waits until the ending of the story to start showing his ass?? you like yeosang that much to come at your friend like that?you’ve known him for two business days!! 🤨 (i’m exaggerating, i know) i thought mc was starting to warm up a little bit to yeosang as well then i remembered all they’ve been through and then i thought hell i’d still resent his ass as well fuck both of them. and last but not least then the ending 😶‍🌫️… you’re telling me the mf has money now, while she doesn’t oh no i’m about to end it all. and judging from the last dialogue spoiler you gave us and how HE showed up in this current chapter i might just skip it the very last chapter to spare myself 🫠
i love how in your writing you never leave a stone unturned. i feel like other writers would’ve probably forced a happy ending but honestly speaking there’s still so much unsaid and unsolved idk if a happy ending make sense without addressing them bc it’d come up eventually in there lives anyway.
sorry i’m rambling but i love love this story and i hope you’re always well <3 💐💐
thank you very much first of all!! <3
second of all, the yn/wooyoung/yeosang stuff is like a direct parallel to boyoung/mingi/yn and at first i didnt think of elaborating more on it (yn was just supposed to walk in on wooyo and yeo and be angry but it was supposed to be funny in the end) but then i thought just making it into a comedic scene would be an insult to her character AND that it would maybe help everybody understand how boyoung would feel if mingi choose yn, understand mingi's predicament two years ago a bit better etc it's fun to play with perspectives sometimes so i took full advantage of that here lol
the relationship with yn and mingi well...that will be talked about in the last chapter but mingi is trying to fix what he's done with actions rather than words and yn is accepting it at a surface level no matter how much it bothers her bc she likes him that much but a good relationship just can't be built like that because the old unspoken problems you've pushed away will find a way to resurface sooner or later. i wanted to write mingi facing this shit head on and addressing it right away but it's just not in his character bc he does not like conflict, admitting he hurt someone or being vulnerable and revealing WHY he hurt someone and he'll avoid it until he's pushed to the last resort.
and san doesn't have that much money...yet but he is a lot more successful than his peers. it was always mentioned how he was a top student in all his classes so him finding success pretty fast after college isnt that surprising 😭

Salutations Tumblr.
Welcome to My Blog:
By Z.D. Burkitt
Tumblr media
The question on your mind has to be, but who are you? Well, let me answer your question with a question. Did I forget the "by" line? No, I'm really asking. Anyway.
I'm Z.D. Burkit. Z for short. I've been a hobbyist writer for 25 years. Now, I'm a Copywriter. Can you tell? -covers my username with my hand- So, I figured I'd introduce myself. As I said, I've been writing for 25 years. However, I haven't published anything other than crappy fanfiction on fanfiction.net. Assuming that website still exists. Like a blacksmith at their* forge, I've learned much about writing, honing my craft(we'll get there.* <--pun). As the name suggests, I'll mostly be posting Copywriting Memes. Sometimes it'll just be the meme. Other times I might share why I like it and any insights I gleaned from it. I'll also post regular blogs and the occasional short story. Now it's time to address the elephant in the refrigerator.
Darn that Pesky Pachyderm:
Tumblr media
I am Non-binary. No, I won't bring this up unless I need to. Nor do I care what pronouns you use. They, he, she, or neo-pronouns are all fine. I'll leave that up to you. I should also say I am Pansexual and engaged. As I get more comfortable, I'll give more details. One final thing, I have ADHD. Since this is my first post, I think I'll leave the housekeeping there. This seems like a good time to get the elephant out of my now-destroyed fridge. -sigh-
Some more Things about Me:
Tumblr media
I'm fascinated by fungi. I guess you can call me an amateur mycologist. Mushrooms, lichens, and all fungi are mesmerizing. I'm working on a story about super-powered teens living in 2100. The Golden Trio in my novel are LGBTQIA+ and Neurodiverse characters. River, the MC, is a Genderfluid Pansexual shapeshifter. One of their best friends is an AMAB non-binary gay person. The other is a cis-gendered bisexual guy. I promise River is not a self-insert. You'll come to know that as I add more to this blog. I am a big-ol' nerd. As evidenced by my near-comprehensive knowledge of the Camp Half-Blood Chronicles. Feel free to test me. I'm also well-versed in Destiny and Gear of War lore. Despite not owning any, I have a growing appreciation for excellent watches. They're just cool. Although I'm no car expert, that's what we call an understatement, kids; I do enjoy rewatching episodes of The Grand Tour. While we're on shows, I'm constantly binging Start Trek DS9. It's my comfort show. I aspire to one day get a Private Pilot's license. And yet, I've never flown. I've never even seen the inside of a plane that was about to take off—just a few at an aviation museum. While we're on the topic, one of my favorite podcasts is Black Box Down; it's all about aviation disasters. Listen to it if you're afraid to fly like I was. You'll realize just how rare these things are. Not only that, but the steps taken to prevent them from happening again. Not a spon. I have no sponsorships. I'm an anime fan, shocking, I know. And I'm clearly a fan of italics. And, like David Tannat's Doctor, I can ramble when I get going, can't I? Here are a couple of rapid-fire facts about me.
I practice lockpicking as a hobby - Scrolling through TikTok, I came across a guy called McNallyOffical, who made it look like a lot of fun. So, I bought a cheap lockpicking kit of off; I'll call it the Everything Store and a cheap (read Master Lock) lock. As soon as it arrived, I stared with the clear practice lock, and once I stopped pretending I was in Skyrim, I got it on my second try. Now that little clink sound of the shackle popping is just uggh. -chief's kiss-
I'm 420-friendly - That one speaks for itself.
I'm an ex-Atheist - I'll admit this is partially due to the anger I felt when I had to deal with any religious or spiritual things that wasn't good for my mental health. So I took a step back from the community and soon found I wasn't angry more often than not. I still respect and listen to many Atheists like Penn Jillette and his business partner, Mr. Teller. Jillette's book God No! is still a personal favorite. The anger made me decide to believe in all gods or none. I have an answer to the ontological question do you believe in god? I believe in every god. I'll delve into that later.
I do believe Science - Despite believing in spiritual things, I am an avid proponent and communicator of Science. No Flearth or anti-vax nonsese here. One spiritual practice I reject is holistic crap and other snake oil. Crystals are pretty, but they can't heal shit IRL.
This one should be obvious - I'm someone you can come to if you're LGBTQIA+ and you need to talk.
I have depression, anxiety, and ADHD - I'm very open and vocal about my, and mental health in general. It's important, and you are too. Never forget that.
I think that's an excellent place to stop. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I did writing it. Take care.

I've been having quite a reading season so I thought I'd do the MID-YEAR Freak Out Tag to document it all since that was the point of this account before I abandoned it. 😬
Anyways Let's Go!! (I will not be going into detail about the books, just how/why they fit the question)
Best Book So Far: A Strange And Stubborn Endurance by Foz Meadows
If ever there was a book designed for me as the target audience, it's this one. This book is everything I want when I pick up a fantasy romance. This is proof that you do not need to abandon or half ass your world building because "the focus is the romance anyway"
Honourable mention :A Taste of Gold And Iron by Alexandra Rowland. Another M/M romantasy with lovable characters in a lush, well realized world of fantasy.
Good fucking Soup!!
Best Sequel: Winter of the Witch.
Third book in the Winter night Trilogy. Historical fantasy. Epic conclusion to an amazing series. Russian folklore, utterly unforgettable MC, old gods vs Christianity battle it out in the unforgiving world of medieval Russia. Full of myth and extreme stakes. Went straight up my top 5 fave series of all time.
Honourable mention: The Long Game by Rachel Reid (book 8). A hockey romance that was just pure fun. Both light and heart-felt. Chaos and Fun. Overall good time.
New Release I haven't Gotten To Yet: Yellowface by R.F Kuang
Most Anticipated Release for the 2nd Half Of The Year: He Who Drowned The World (coming August 24) Sequel to She Who Became The Sun by Shelley Parker Chan.
Biggest Dissapointment : Catherine House by Elisabeth Thomas. This was such an unpleasant experience. A one note character who was so removed from her reality and surroundings that I was unable to connect with her or the story. She had no reactions to any of the horrendous things happening to and around her. She didn't care, had no goals, motivations etc. She just WAS! (One would would argue that that was the point given the self medication and trauma, and perhaps they'd be right) I just couldn't help but feel like I wasted my time here. Thinking about this book still makes me angry.
Honourable mention: The Beautiful Ones by Sivia Moreno Garcia.
Several trusted sources hyped this book up as not only a really juicy historical romance but the best from Miss Garcia. And as someone who didn't get the hype behind Mexican Gothic, I was hoping this would be my chance to appreciate Silvia's work. IT WASN'T!! I'm starting to think Me n Silvia just aren't suited to each other. (I will still read Gods of Jade And Shadow since I already own the audiobook but I won't pick up anything new moving forward)
Biggest Surprise: Aristotle And Dante Discover The Secrets Of The Universe.
This is contemporary fiction featuring sad gays coming of age. I was so surprised by how much I enjoyed and was gut punched by this story. This duology did for me what SONG OF ACHILLES did for the girls.
Honourable Mention: Silver Under Nightfall by Rin Chupeco. I don't even have words for how this book swept me away. Another MC I would lay down my life for. Charming characters, dark world, monstrous creatures and sexy vampires. AGAIN a book designed with ME in mind.
Fave New Author: T Kingfisher.
Technically I discovered them last year with the Paladin Series but I've only gotten to expound on their catalog this year and boy do they keep GIVING!! Their writing style is equal parts Humour, whimsy, vivid and just hits all the beats. Her characterization is obe of my favorites for sure. An auto-read author for me moving forward.
Honourable mention :KJ Charles
An indie author who focuses on queer romantic and historical fantasy. She's yet to let me down
Newest Fictional Crush: I don't really crush on book characters but for the sake of this question Delilah Green from Delilah Green Doesn't Care(super tated Butch Lesbian with percings and mommy issues?! Come on now)
Honourable mention : Tadek from A Taste Of Gold And Iron. The complete Chaos that is this man. We would be best friends immediately!!
Newest Fave Character : Velasin Vin Aaro- Aeduria from A Strange And Stubborn Endurance. Fits the archetype of all my favorite male characters. Cute, shy, super smart and entirely a cinnamon role. Him, Cae and Markel are the PERFECT chaotic Trio. (Pls go read this book y'all I need someone to die over it with me)
Honourable mention : Ilya Rozanov from Long Game. Look, this man is a total bastard, a delinquent, an utter S.O.B but I stand by him. *Keke Palmer voice* I KNOW HIM Y'ALL!! I KNOW HIM!!
Book That made me Cry: Satisfaction Guaranteed by Karelia Stetz-Waters.
Listen, I may have been going through some things at the time but that last act L0ve Declaration GOT ME!! just cheesing and sobbing like "love is real y'all"
Book That Made Me Happy: Swordheart by T Kingfisher.
The utter WHOLESOMENESS that is this book!!!the FMC was so pure and guileless and genuine I wanted to hug her. The high jinks, the shenanigans and the wonder of it all. This story was utterly hilarious, sweet, emotional and fun. All the things I want in my romances. Solidified Kingfisher's Pen Game as unclockable.
(The audiobook narrator for Halla is one of the most talented in the game. Give her all the gigs!)
If you see this and are interested pls join in. I'd love to see what everyone's been reading.
