What if Stella and Blitz met Martha and Mayberry? The ex wives and the mistresses.

Ms Mayberry would know all about hiring hitmen on cheaters and Martha would understand what causes people to cheat in a loveless marriage with kids, they’d both help Stella to move on from it and for her (and the extremely stolas obsessed biassed audience) to learn she’s not crazy (at least by hells standards) Maybe they look at Blitz being mad at Stella for hiring a hitman and laugh because he’s one himself who Mayberry hired. Learning that could change Stella’s view of him. Martha like blitz seems to ping pong between men, before finding the right person (woman) for her. Imagine a scene of “how did you know they were the one?” I love those. Or in Blitzs case “how did you know he is not the one?” Hint: him being on the phone to that creep while being shot at by Martha then stolas shaming blitz to fail to cater to his safety. Stolas is the reason Martha caught him remember. Please blitz remember.

Both sinner women tell them that a man willing to humiliate them and bring them into a cheating scandal does not truly care for or respect them, much less “love” He cares about himself only, and not either of them. In fact he wants them to fight each other. To take blame off him.

Another slightly random thing I was thinking, what if Martha was a huge horse girl too. And dreamed of the wrath ring and meeting hell horses and Satan himself. Blitzø is super stoked about this. He says he descended from Satan as his hellborn and flirtily asks Martha “maybe you should be worshipping me? We’re practically the same” Before Mayberry smacks him and Stella fact checks that assessment. Stick to horses Blitzø.

Another sweet idea, Mayberry has full shared custody of Martha’s evil cannibal children and loves being around kids again. And teaching. As a teacher she finally helps Blitzø learn to spell and read properly, and doesn’t make fun of him for it. But does put him in the dunce hat for cussing. She notices his dyslexia right away and is actually helping him, and maybe notices he grew up speaking multiple languages adding to his spelling difficulty (but Ofc Viv wouldnt do that, everyone in HB speaks exclusively English) I’m tired of the audience calling him stupid. Stella too, she received no education as a woman without official status besides baby maker, and imagine how hard that is to admit?

Basically the message is bad actions have consequences, but good actions have consequences too. Apologies aren’t just meaningless. Every year the three send gift baskets. Blitzø doesn’t say it aloud. But being around three motherly women who understand him, helps him in his grieving journey quite a bit. And to be less of a misogynist. All he had to do was give a sorry basket and he just made three close friends.

It's crazy to me that people call Jonathan a himbo, he's so methodical and clever! It makes sense that Mina would be attracted to someone bright too

Yes, anon, you’re so speaking my language!!! I do wish people would stop calling Jonathan a himbo because — nothing against himbos — but Jonathan is not one of them! And yes, it totally makes sense that Mina would attracted to someone as clever as him, and since she’s also so smart, I’m sure the feeling is mutual.

Before y’all come shouting in my inbox “what do you have against himbos??” and “Jonathan is totally a himbo, what are you talking about?” Let me clear things up:

First of all, I love himbos!!! Kronk from Emperor’s New Groove — peak himbo, imo — is one of my favorite characters. Am I attracted to them? Well…no. As you can probably tell from my last Nova’s Notes, I’m more the kind of person who’s attracted to cleverness or when people nerd out. BUT I cherish himbos for all of their wonderful qualities and if I ever get the opportunity to meet one in real life, I would love to be friends with them! <3333

Secondly, for anyone who’s still saying Jonathan is a himbo…

Himbos have to embody all three qualities equally to be considered himbos! If they are not kind? Not a himbo. Not strong? Not a himbo, I’m sorry! I do make the rules of himbo, I simply follow the rules.

Now on to our good friend Jonathan Harker’s case.

He is undeniably kind. From what we’ve seen so far (not to mention later), he is not only loving to his fiancée, he is kind to strangers as well. He takes gifts from the villagers, even if he does not understand them. Just a couple of entries ago, he was willing to risk his life over a child he didn’t even know (and the same night after he had screamed running away from the women, too). Some of the Dracula Daily book club on here suspects (as do I) that some of the reason he’s so eager to spring into action the next day is to put a stop to Dracula’s evilness for other people, not just for himself. Heck, he’s even talked about Dracula’s good qualities after finding out he’s a prisoner!!! So, kindness? Yes! ✅

As for strong, there’s not as much evidence here, but I would call him somewhat strong because not just anyone could successfully scale a castle wall twice in one day like that! That takes a lot of strength in your core, arms, back, etc. Sure, Dracula can do it — but Dracula is also a vampire with super strength. Maybe it’s easier than I think it is, but I’m not exactly going to look for a castle to try it!! So for Jonathan to crack his knuckles and go “yeah, he can do it, why can’t I?” is both hilarious and shows that he must know something of his own strength. However, he’s also a solicitor and I doubt he’s built like a bodybuilder. So, strong? Maybe not as much as a typical himbo, but let’s give him the check mark because Lizard Fashion is nothing to sneeze at. ✅

Now for the ditzy part….I’d have to say no to that. Himbos are meant to not be “the sharpest tool in the shed” (yes, I did have to hit you with a Smash Mouth reference, sorry not sorry) and Jonathan is farrrrr from that.

Everything he has done so far has been methodical and smart. I covered this in my other Nova’s Notes (you can look under the hashtag on my page if you want to see more :D) so I really don’t want to go through too much I’ve already gone through, but the arguments I’ve seen for him being a himbo — based on the entries we’ve already read — are that he’s not smart because he:

Doesn’t heed villager’s warnings

“Let’s” himself become a prisoner

Is nice to Dracula after he knows he’s a prisoner

Talks about his fiancée a lot (???????)

For the first point, we’ve gone over this, but here we go again — he doesn’t heed the villager’s warnings, no. But keep in mind none of them actually say “The Count is a super dangerous man!! Don’t trust him!!!” Here’s the passage:

“When I asked him if he knew Count Dracula, and could tell me anything of his castle, both he and his wife crossed themselves, and, saying that they knew nothing at all, simply refused to speak further. It was so near the time of starting that I had no time to ask any one else, for it was all very mysterious and not by any means comforting.

Just before I was leaving, the old lady came up to my room and said in a very hysterical way:

‘Must you go? Oh! young Herr, must you go?’ She was in such an excited state that she seemed to have lost her grip of what German she knew, and mixed it all up with some other language which I did not know at all. I was just able to follow her by asking many questions. When I told her that I must go at once, and that I was engaged on important business, she asked again:

‘Do you know what day it is?’ I answered that it was the fourth of May. She shook her head as she said again:

‘Oh, yes! I know that! I know that, but do you know what day it is?’ On my saying that I did not understand, she went on:

‘It is the eve of St. George's Day. Do you not know that to-night, when the clock strikes midnight, all the evil things in the world will have full sway? Do you know where you are going, and what you are going to?’ She was in such evident distress that I tried to comfort her, but without effect. Finally she went down on her knees and implored me not to go; at least to wait a day or two before starting. It was all very ridiculous but I did not feel comfortable.

So here’s the thing: you can see that the only thing the innkeeper’s wife explicitly warns him against is going to the castle that night because it’s a day in their culture where evil spirits are considered to have full sway.

The innkeeper’s wife does ask him if he knows “where he is going and who is going to” — he says no, but she does not speak further on the matter. When he asked about the Count before this, they just refused to speak! I know that may seem like an implicit warning — and it is — but some people on here act as if Jonathan was supposed to have known why they were crossing themselves and immediately have left? Like, he obviously feels uncomfortable, but as he states before and afterwards: he has a job to do. If you were in his position: a newly-appointed lawyer (or position of your choice), and you went to a place where the locals told you not to visit your client that night because it was a night where evil spirits would come out: would you honestly believe them? And if you asked about what your client was like and they just crossed themselves and refused to speak on the matter, would you simply leave the town and tell your boss “nah, sorry, the villagers warned me against him. I decided this client’s not for me”? I guess that honestly depends on you, but I would think not if you want to keep your job!! I know that’s not ideal, but to be fair, he also is not given a fair warning before going in.

There is also that incident in the carriage where he hears those villagers talking and he picks up bits and pieces (including the words werewolf and vampire) but a) they’re not talking to him and b) he doesn’t pick up enough to even indicate who they’re talking about!! In fact, he thinks they’re badmouthing him!!! (Which is understandable, he can only hear a bit and he’s translating on the fly). Again, how he is supposed to automatically know: “oh, Count Dracula is a vampire and I must flee this place immediately.” We know that because Dracula has been a pop culture icon for 100+ years, but Jonathan doesn’t have that kind of knowledge. I feel it’s kind of ridiculous to call him not smart for not knowing this.

However, and this is important, he does take some of this warning to heart. He does take the crucifix and the other vampire-repellent gifts the villagers bestow upon him, despite his skepticism and ignorance of the culture (thanks, English colonization /s). He feels uncomfortable and anxious before he even goes into the castle, literally saying goodbye to Mina in his diary in case he doesn’t make it back!! He keeps the crucifix in his room and uses it to ward off bad dreams and for safety against Dracula (which is not really how he’s supposed to use it, but he wasn’t really told how, so I don’t really blame him for that).

I don’t think a himbo would’ve picked up that something was amiss at any of these points, not until it was too late at least. I think for this test, just picture Kronk (or your fav himbo) in this situation. Would they even notice something was up? Or would they go cheerfully towards the castle?

As for the second point — this is kind of unrelated to the himbo question but — what kind of victim-blame mentality is this????? I have seen people unironically (at least I’m pretty sure it is?) post that Jonathan deserves the abuse he’s getting because he didn’t heed the villager’s warnings (which I already talked about above) and/or he’s “rude” to Dracula. I’m sorry — WHAT???? So if you’re rude to somebody they’re to allowed to lock you up in their castle???? That’s a fair trade? I beg your pardon?! Just…ok. Believe what you want, but maybe let’s not blame the guy who’s been a prisoner in a random stranger’s castle for a month and is sure he’s about to die? Yes, this is fictional and not that deep, but still — weird take.

Back to the himbo question, I mean, he doesn’t really let himself become a prisoner. He’s at Dracula’s castle for a job. Once he’s done with that job he’s ready to leave, but Dracula makes him stay because he literally locks him in!!! He then explicitly tells him he will stay longer and Jonathan has to accept because he is there in place of his boss, and saying no would be like speaking (negatively) for his boss — and Jonathan is not going to do that. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think a himbo would be able to see all of that subtext within that conversation. I actually don’t know this kind of interaction between a true himbo and Dracula would go, but I imagine not well. Dracula thrives off of interesting conversation and wit, as well as being able to maintain a facade of host and guest. I just don’t see if someone like Kronk could maintain that for long because he would probably be like “but I don’t want to stay longer, let me go” or something, which would end the “game”.

Moving on to the third point, he is nice to Dracula after he knows he’s a prisoner for a reason. When he realizes he’s locked up (which he realizes super fast, by the way), he sits down and has a good, long think about what he can do. More passage evidence!

“I am thinking still, and as yet have come to no definite conclusion. Of one thing only am I certain; that it is no use making my ideas known to the Count. He knows well that I am imprisoned; and as he has done it himself, and has doubtless his own motives for it, he would only deceive me if I trusted him fully with the facts. So far as I can see, my only plan will be to keep my knowledge and my fears to myself, and my eyes open. I am, I know, either being deceived, like a baby, by my own fears, or else I am in desperate straits; and if the latter be so, I need, and shall need, all my brains to get through.”

So he knows Dracula is up to something (or he’s jumped to conclusions) and either way, talking about it is a bad idea. The only way through is to act like nothing’s wrong for now and try to get information out of Dracula. Other than that, he’s going to need to use his brains! Yes, he does talk to Dracula and acts nice — but it’s with a plan and a purpose. Dracula has creeped him out from the start, but he has always been able to maintain good cheer around him. Now, he will put that to use.

So for this himbo test, it’s kind of similar to the second one. Were Kronk in this situation, he would make it by for a while because he probably wouldn’t notice the doors are locked. But once he did…I’m not sure if it would be like the second point where he’d immediately tell Dracula “hey why are all of the doors locked” and the game is up or if his shoulder angel/devil characters would come out to help him. I guess it depends! And to Kronk’s credit, he has figured things out before (e.g. figured out who Pacha was and in relation to Kuzco) *but* it took him like 12 hours after the fact and that’s not how Jonathan operates. Jonathan figures out things pretty quickly. Does he need time to think sometimes? Yes. But he’s pretty much always thinking and trying to figure out more once he’s at Castle Dracula. I just don’t see these two in the same vein here.

For the final point, I haven’t seen much evidence for this, but it needs to be addressed. I think sometimes people tend to equate WifeGuy with “no thoughts, head empty only for wife” and that can be true!!! There are definitely characters like that and I do love them so. Jonathan is undeniably a WifeGuy (and Mina’s not even his wife in name yet), bringing her up anytime he gets a chance. I would argue though that just because he’s in love and brings her up a ton doesn’t mean he’s also not clever and methodical. You can be in love and smart: these can coexist. Mina is a very smart character from what we’ve seen already and she’s in love too!

I don’t really have a Kronk case study for this one, but like anon said — I think Mina is attracted to Jonathan for his smartness and it goes both ways. They love each other for many other reasons (there’s a lot to love!), but I imagine that’s kind of the cherry on top for them.

Why does this matter? I think calling Jonathan a himbo is reducing his character a bit here. Again, I’m not saying being a himbo is bad, but it does discredit his methodical ways and strategy he has in the castle. His methodical nature is part of personality and pretending that doesn’t exist erases his character, in my opinion. Additionally, it raises the question: could a himbo become a lawyer? I…don’t think so…but maybe? Find me a himbo who’s a lawyer and prove me wrong I guess! Wait is Phoenix Wright a himbo…? Question for another time.

In conclusion, Jonathan Harker only passes 1 part of the himbo test (kindness) with flying colors. The strong test he only passes by the tail of his lizard fashion, and as for ditzy? He fails miserably. Recall that for someone to be a true himbo, they have to possess all three traits equally. Even if you could make the case for one, you’d still be missing another. So, no, I don’t think Jonathan Harker is a himbo. You can maybe argue with me that he has himbo moments (if that’s a thing, idk), but overall? No.

Anyways, let me dive you in on a little something I've been wanting to bring out for so long. At first, I kept it to myself. But the more I see claims like these, the more pissed off I get. So, let me just get this off my chest and point out that Catnap isn't evil. Yeah. I said it. He is NOT entirely evil as people make it out to be. The Catnap you see in the game and the one in the cartoons are two completely different characters. One serves a prototype. One likes to sleep all day. One was an experiment. One smells like lavender. There's a huge difference. The DOGDAY that YOU see in the game lost his legs. The cartoon however, didn't. You get what I'm saying? The games and the cartoons are NOT connected to each other. Both are separated. Take it as alternate universes type of thing. I can't believe I have to explain this because Sleepyday antis are way too focused on calling a ship toxic instead of actually looking into the lore of Poppy Playtime, which shouldn't even be this hard.

From what I've seen, people mostly ship the cartoon versions of Dogday and Catnap. Which is COMPLETELY healthy, by the way! The two have goals and a lot of chemistry. They are best friends. They CARE for one another. People ship them because of their dynamic and because of their adorable sun x moon dynamic. And don't get me wrong, I heavily despise the ship between the bigger bodies. In my opinion, it's genuinely disgusting since Catnap used to be an 8 year old called Theodore. And knowing that he died at a young age before becoming an experiment, people like that can't exactly age anymore once they die. And Dogday's legs got ripped off by him. So yeah. Kinda fucked up. I think the version of that ship is disgusting and weird. They wouldn't be great together. I'm sorry. There's nothing I can really do about it, though.

If you're STILL confused, take Bendy And The Ink Machine as an example. If you even know the game. It's kinda similar to Poppy Playtime at it's finest. With the people turning into characters from a show type of genre. The Alice Angel that we see in the game is completely evil. Her motives are to steal the hearts of innocent ink creatures in order to make herself look beautiful again. At first, you'd think that's the same gal from the one you see in the cartoon. But surprisingly, no! Alice Angel used to be human. She used to be a women named Susie Campbell. She was the voice OF Alice Angel. Alice Angel in the cartoons is completely different. For her height difference is much more smaller from game Alice's. She has no melted half face, AND she DEFINITELY has no evil intentions. She's a completely sweet gal. See the comparison? They are NOT the same. The toys in Poppy Playtime are NOT the same from the cartoons. They were all experiments.

It just pains me that I can't even enjoy my comfort ship in peace without that one person shouting about how wrong and icky it is. And at this point, if I ever come across a person like that again, I'm just going to ignore them. Because I'm sick of this. I'm sick of it so much. I shouldn't even have to EXPLAIN the Poppy Playtime lore to get this through your thick skull head. I shouldn't have to explain that Sleepday isn't all that TOXIC just so you could leave me alone. I wanted to say that I also agree with both intakes and those who overall theorize that the person/entity that owns Alastor's soul is either Eve or Roo.

Honestly, Idk if Eve and Roo are different or the same. Maybe they started as two separate entities, but after Eve ate the forbidden apple, they slowly became one. Kind of like how it seemed that Roo was an entity and not just a concept, what allowed Roo to get released in the physical world was the ingestion and possession of Eve… or maybe I'm just sippling.

Anyway, I think the main reason why I feel am not Alastor's contractor is because I just have this feeling that she is not a threat. The show makes it seem as if she was sort of conspiring against hell, but it does not make sense to me for a person who was basically that face of the resistance to sort of be a threat to Charlie and hell in general. She seems sketchy, not going to lie, and that whole thing of both Lilith and Alastor disappearing at the same time is highly suspicious, but idk… maybe I'm crazing but I do not feel such animosity from Alastor to Lilith.

One could look at Al's reaction to Lucifer as maybe a remainder to whom he may a deal (if it was Lilith), besides the obvious of him maybe threatening his position at the hotel. But if that was the case, I would think he would not act the way he does with Charlie. Yes, it can be argued that acts that way because he is trying to manipulate Charlie into something regarding the deal (probably… he is but we are uncertain of what he might really go for with the deal he made), but it just does not add. He might have a soft spot for women, but it does not add that he acted mildly with Charlie (the daughter of the person who owns his soul, in this scenario) when just the mention of him being on a leash had him losing his cool like he did with Husk in ep5. It does not add that he had a mental breakdown because he might have almost gotten attached and risked his life for this group of people (also because he might have overestimated his powers, and we do not exactly know how much the deal restricts him in terms of power). I totally see him working alongside her because he must gain what he has, but I just do not see it being so "friendly" with her. Or maybe I am just underestimating his acting skills.

My point is that (at least in my head, and the way I interpreted the situation) I see more possibility that Eve/Roo/something else is the one holding Al's soul and not Lilith. Now, again, it is really weird that both of them went away at the same time. My theory is that, somewhere along the lines (sometime after Al's made the deal maybe) both he and Lilith partner to maybe stop Eve/Roo or Eve/Roo made Al and Lilith confront in a way that made Lilith having to seek shelter in Heaven, and Alastor to go away. But I feel it was Lilith who might have asked Alastor to watch/help Charlie, and he might have agreed because it is convenient as well… and maybe because it was also Eve/Roo's order…

IDK maybe he is a double spy, and despite all this, he is trying to seek the perfect opportunity which is going to give him the chance to "move all the strings". I also headcanon that both might have a level of respect for one another but that is just a crazy thought of mine because they haven't even interacted so… idk

ALRIGHT IM HERE! I know this has been sitting in my inbox for the past week, but I'm here now and ready to get into it!

I've never considered the possibility that Eve and Roo are the same, but hmmm, thinking about it, I'm not so sure. In the opening of the show, it's said that evil already exists.

Angels shielded all from Evil. So, Roo (the literal Root of all Evil) will have existed long before Eve was even created. If she were using Eve as a host, however... ◉_◉ As being the first one to let evil into the world being the gateway (for a lack of better word) and Roo taking advantage of that...

It was Adam and Eve eating the apple that allowed evil to find it's way to Earth.

Like, the phrasing here says it all. "For with this single act of disobedience, evil FINALLY found its way into Earth."

So not only has evil existed for a long time, it's implied that it's been trying to find a way to get to Earth. (Also, the Roo theory brain is taking over, this whole scene, with these black tendrils growing, turning into a hand, and curling around Earth, do those not resemble roots to anyone? I'd gif it if I knew how, but it literally looks like roots growing up and wrapping themselves around humanity. ROOT OF ALL EVIL, come on, the symbolism is there.)

And with Alastor, I truly think he cares more than he wants. I think he cares more than he expected to. I know there's a lot of people who just do NOT think he does, and that he's going to be the big bad (or at least an antagonist), and while I don't disagree about the antagonist part (I can see him being an obstacle to get in their way), I just think there's going to be more to his character arc. I don't think he's just going to manipulate the hotel, betray everyone, and get all the power he's ever wanted and that's IT.

For one, as any writer knows, stories need conflict. Characters need conflict. One could argue that Alastor's deal is his conflict, but I think his true conflict is going to be getting attached to Charlie and co. and not wanting to. i think he's going to fight it tooth and nail, but I think, in the end, he's going to be their ally (or as much of an ally as he can be considering someone--most likely the actual antagonist of the show--has his soul).

And I agree with you about his relationship with Charlie. We can already see that he's a good at manipulating. The "Dad Beat Dad" episode gave us numerous examples of him using his relationship with Charlie (saying things like "We're all very proud of her," and that he's "happy to fulfill her bizarre requests") to get under Lucifer's skin, while Charlie is shown to whole-heartedly believe him. He IS a manipulator and he knows how to pin-point that insecurity to get what he wants.)

However, there's also examples in the show where he was kind and considerate to Charlie when he literally didn't need to be. There was no reason or benefit to him for doing so.

One example would be him going with her to assist in getting the cannibals help. He didn't need to do this. He got what he wanted. He officially has a deal with Charlie. He gave her the information she needs in exchange for a favor, there's no reason to linger. But he does, and not only does he freely suggest Cannibal Town, but he's going WITH her to recruit their help.

When Charlie is talking to Rosie to get said help, she's frantic and stumbling over herself, and Alastor pipes in to help her. Later, when Charlie is singing her song to convince the cannibals, he pipes in again (when it's obvious they're not entirely on board) to include that they'll get to eat angels, which is the tipping point that gets the town interested. And another time during that same song when he said "he knew she could do it all along." Charlie wasn't there, so who was he supposed to be manipulating in that scenario?

Rosie? As if Rosie doesn't already know Alastor's whole schtick, she was literally telling him about souls he could go make deals with earlier in the episode. Demons who are in a territory that they can't properly defend, which would make them desperate. Easy pickings to manipulate a few into giving up their souls.

He had faith in Charlie getting the cannibals to join and even helped her along every step of the way.

And that's not even mentioning the fact that he has literally let her use his cane twice. His cane, which Vivzepop has said is like an extension of himself. We haven't seen him let anyone else in the series touch his cane. Hell, he didn't even need to offer his cane in the first place, the microphone she was using earlier was still right there.

One could argue he was trying to get the cannibals to help so they could defend the hotel and have a better chance at, you know, NOT dying. But there's multiple times when he does things he didn't have to do, because there was literally no benefit of it to him. But he did.

Because I think he's more attached than he wants to believe.

Where was I...I went on an Alastor tangent.

But yes! The way I see it right now, I can see Roo going after Lillith because Lillith empowered demonkind.

Lucifer may the the ultimate ruler of Hell, but it's obvious that he didn't really...interact much with the rest of Hell. At least from what we've seen. He was ashamed of what he did and lost his will to dream.

He fell into depression. I think when he and Lillith had Charlie, it really did make him happy. I think it brought him out of his depression for a bit, but depression doesn't just...go away. At least not for everyone. And we do see that something had to happen between him and Lillith to result in them splitting up, AND something had to happen to him and Charlie to result in them not seeing each other for long periods of time, to the point of Charlie not even wanting to call him for help when she could really use it.

Guys been in depression for a while, and I can't see him getting involved with Hell, which he's ashamed of creating at all. I can see him being more than happy to step aside for Lillith to handle it herself. I don't think Roo would see him as much of a threat so long as he's not getting involved.

Because as the show says:

She literally EMPOWERED demonkind. Hell grew and evolved, and it became so much more. It became powerful enough for Heaven to not only take notice, but to get worried.

Lillith has MUCH more of an impact in Hell. She has more reach and authority, and I can see Roo being intimidated and/or threatened by that. There's a lot Roo (the Root of All Evil) can do in Hell, where the sinners and wicked go--those who commit evil acts. This should be her PLAYGROUD. But it's Lillith who has authority here.

So maybe Roo needed to get her out of the way? And how much farther can she get Lillith from Hell then having her go to Heaven?

I definitely think there's a connection between Alastor and Lillith. Maybe Lillith did enlist Alastor for his help. Maybe Roo already got Alastor's soul and he helped her, in some way, get Lillith to go to Heaven. I don't know what the connection is, but I'm so eager to find out.

(Also, can we all talk about how Lillith empowered demonkind with her voice, her songs, and Charlie is out here singing every time she wants to help Hell--when she first got the meeting with Adam, when she's trying to convince Adam of her plan, her song with Pentious, etc... And when Rosie asks how she typically tries to get people interested in her hotel, she does so by singing. All of her songs are about love, redemption, being better, working together, almost as if she's trying to empower demonkind with her voice too.)

I think we should talk more about not only what Charlie gets from Lucifer, but what she gets from Lillith as well.

But YES, I'm just so eager to see the whole deal with Alastor and Lillith, and I REALLY think Roo is going to come into play here somewhere. I really do. If not now, then later.

Personally, I still think Roo has Alastor's soul, but who knows? Maybe Lillith DOES have Alastor's soul, but Roo blackmailed/threatened Lillith into going to Heaven, so Lillith ordered Alastor to keep an eye on Charlie for her? Who knows? No one.

its a slightly goofy, sort of horror soap opera, in the vein of call of cthulu/tma. I dont find it Super Scary, but idk what your milage for horror is.

The overarching plot is drivin by the patrions (sp sorry), in the style of a choose your own adventure novel- you can usually tell where the choices are; it'll be something like 'omg arthur, we're at a crossroads- do we go left, to the evil cavern (where the horrors live) or right, to the evil woods (more horrors).' You can also hear more overt RPG stylings in the beginning- dice roll sounds for perception checks, etc. These do fade out after the first season.

Rough outline (some spoilers): John (a spirit/demon type guy) possesses Arthur (a detective from Arkham MA) and, in doing so, takes over his eyes. Now Arthur must navigate the world with only the guidance of the voice in his head. Horrors unfold, walls are walked into the boys are in their get-along consciousness. Think venom, if both of them were way bitchier and prone to swearing. and also eddy was blind.

IS IT GAY: Yes and no. If its a friendship, its really intense- but cannonicaly it has been very firmly stated that they are just friends. However, the relationship is intertwined and deep enough that many people consider it to be queerplatonic- Arthur being aromantic is a very popular interpretation, if that sweetens the pot for you (idk how loosely you're using gay here). Glib answer: its pretty queer, but no kissing.

COOL STUFF:

-A dramatic, intense relationship between a guy and the dude who lives in his head. They argue ( my god how they argue) they make up, they argue again.

-The saddest little english man (arthur) gets chucked off cliffs multiple times. Do you like men whimpering? This is the podcast for you!

-Very impressive voice acting: the writer voices absolutely everyone in the podcast (yes. everyone) and its genuinely almost unnoticeable. You really do have to have it pointed out to you.

-Fun, slightly campy (in the way of an rpg campaign) Lovecraft style horror

-Lovely piano soundtrack

-A gentleman called the butcher shows up in- what season 3? maybe?- and I adore him. Go singing irishman go. You get that violent homoeroticism.

Drawbacks:

Again, I don't really know your taste, but these are some of the things that might turn someone off from listening. YMMV etc.

-Almost no women characters: understandable, since a dude is voicing Literally Everyone- but it is something of a sausage fest. Women exist in universe, they just tend to move in the backround/be unvoiced. Lots of 'oh heres whats happened to her' sort of describing around the 'I can't voice a woman' issue. One old lady has a few voice lines and thats it.

-Kind of a soap: This is a draw for me ngl, but if you are looking for TMA 2: the magnusing- she isn't it. Its a LOT lighter than tma, writing wise, and isnt exactly hitting any crazy new twists in its plot (if you've read Any lovecraftian stuff you probably wont be super surprised by anything)BUT. Its still very fun. Two dudes sharing a body, detective roadship shenanigans. They might kiss! Might see some skinned bodies or something.

The dynamics can be a lil repetative (wake up break up back together) and the plot can be a little- ehhhh. due to it being yk, patrion controlled- but that can be fun- it's pretty heavily a choose your own adventure story at heart, so if your down with that (and the sillyness that comes with it) then you'll like it.

-Gore: pretty gory. I enjoy that sort of thing/ am not really effected by it BUT if that not your cup of tea, then you might wanna skedaddle.

SO sorry it took me a while to answer, a beam of every possible ship this could be applied to knocked me off of my feet.

at the end of the day, it's sacrifice, right? and what's love in camelot without a little sacrifice? 

just so we don't go completely crazy here, we'll talk about three - merthur, merwaine and morgwen (the holy trinity if you ask me)

merwaine: anyone who's seen my posts lately knows what i'm about to say, but - breakup arc! with this title the breakup arc would go CRAZY. it would start with the big fight between s3 and s4, or i guess a little before that, honeymoon phase merwaine, all sweet and flirty and finally close by.  i can imagine the fight going a couple of different ways, but in this scenario i think i'd make it about gwaine's anger about magic - more specifically, his refusal to watch merlin put himself in danger again and again and again (though a good portion of it would be due to miscommunication about the whole thing), with merlin on the other side telling him he's been doing this for years. i thought about sprinkling something else in there, but this alone has enough drama in it. whisper fights and pained glances and scoffs every time either of them puts their life on the line. also, i'd get to incorporate my favourite imagined scenario where the line "playing soldiers" from 04x07 is said first by merlin during the breakup arc, essentially telling him to stay in his lane. it would all boil down to choosing to protect their own hearts over the possibility of losing one another (n gwaine's case) or hurting the other further (in merlin's case). gwaine would be all old romance about it, pining and hurting, whilst merlin would have burning aches between his bones, pain buried under anger. and so gwaine would assume that that's all there was left - anger. aftera while, he'd start following merlin every time he thought merlin might be putting himself in danger, especially because now he'd no less and less about merlin's whereabouts at any given time . of course, merlin would catch on fairly quickly, pushing back and accusing gwaine of doing it for the wrong reasons. i could ramble on, but to make a long idea shorter - gwaine would end up going on a suicide mission to save merlin from a situation (morgana, perhaps?). an injured gwaine or one miraculous escape later there would probably be something like "it's the big gestures that count, eh?" said, before the actual Big Resolution. 

OKAY. morgwen. i'm gonna try and keep this shorter, but i imagine this as somewhat of a fairytale kind of arc set early in morgana's magic storyline. although i love the idea of evil women, i also enjoy the idea of wlw saving the day (kind of). i'm thinking metaphors of princesses locked in towers paralleling morgana's anger and her world crumbling around her. gwen has always been one to figure shit out for herself, so she'd realise what was going on pretty quickly. they'd have a couple of good fights over it, gwen's ever-lasting belief in kindness and morgana's loss of trust etc etc. from there it could go a couple of ways - a push and pull between the "good" and the "evil" or a continued descend into the darkness. thoughnot to make this so very angsty like i've done with all else, i think a great story would be morgana choosing what she thinks is right or rather necessary, and by the time gwen actually gets through to her, it's just a little too late. i think maybe gwen would be caught with morgana and thus accused of being an accomplice, which would then result in morgana giving herself up for both gwen and all she stands for. (insert big big big romantic speech here)

i should really stop, but quick little merthur here - this one's easy, i mean it's merthur, but big merlin sacrifice in whatever form you please, specifically with a lines about not doing this to show arthur that he loves him or anything, but because he loves him. "it's selfish, really, i can't watch you die, but i can't wait for you to keep loving me" (or a little less cheesy version of that).

Summary:

The entity is a brutal creature, drawing more and more new victims into its game. It feeds on despair and fear, anger and tears. But what if the "Shadow" is beyond the Essence's control? What if there, where everyone sees the emptiness, lies a light that can pull them out of despair?

We're talking about Y/N Rogers, the "White Crow," accustomed since childhood to loneliness and fear and the spirits that haunt her.

Part one

The fog is a slimy substance of fear, despair and hatred. Everyone who entered it disappeared. Gone without a trace. It was as if such a person had never existed. Or maybe there really wasn't. Maybe it's all just a fantasy of an evil mind. A cruel joke, or else a fake.

Stupid game of someone's sick imagination, a parasite that sucks all the juices along with your despair. "Fog" - that's what everyone calls this disgusting place. But what is fog? A dimension with a bunch of twisted and bloodthirsty maniacs who take your life time after time. But what if I told you that for someone, death is the only way out?

A beautiful baby girl was born. What a shame no one wanted her... "A child born to save a marriage" is the most common name given to such children. After all, it is better to "recreate" a new life than to deal with one's own. That's what Jack and Malena Rogers thought. Oh! The memories of their first meeting are as fresh as yesterday. They met at one of the university parties. Jack asked Malena, for a dance, then invited her back to his place, and everything spun and spun and spun. It seemed like love at first sight! A passionate and ardent love, engaging in a hot tango. A month later, the wedding, honeymoon, and everything seemed to be going uphill, and bam...

Cold. Feelings went out. Faded as rapidly as they flared up at their first meeting. Malena saw the only way out of this situation in Internet forums, where women with similar marital problems advised each other on all sorts of crazy things. And one of those things was "have a baby. An unknown person under the nickname "MisisAllens" talked on her blog about the "tragic story of a relationship" that was "heroically saved" by their child. And now, finally, it's decided: They want the baby!

The pregnancy was going hard, the Toxicosis was extremely painful, and the baby kept trying to be born ahead of its due date. What was Rogers' disappointment when, instead of fervent feelings, came screaming, diapers and snot, and the beautiful figure was flaunted not by tight dresses, but by extra pounds. Jack was no longer attracted to his wife, which caused him to have a mistress or two, hardly ever going home, leaving Malena alone with herself, self-loathing, and a month-old daughter...

-Shut up already! - Pillows and plush toys flew in the direction of the crib. The young mother was jumping between rooms, trying to get everything done in time for her husband's arrival. To which the baby began to yell louder and louder, causing the woman to become even more hysterical. Unable to endure, Malena slumped against the wall, rolled smoothly to the floor, jerked the headscarf off her head, and sobbed, whispering only words of hatred.

"I hate... I hate... I hate you!! "

The first couple of years were also difficult. The girl grew up extremely nervous, reacting to negative attitudes in the family. Jack's carousing was wearing Mrs. Rogers down, and with her hatred of her husband, her hatred of the child grew. Malena did not want to see this child, rejecting the very fact of his existence :- "Covering your eyes with a rag ." And as she grew older, nothing changed. Not counting Jack, of course. In a couple of years, the gorgeous blond hair was replaced by a classic smoothed haircut that hid the rare baldness, and the Inflated body was replaced by a tummy. Instead of lovers he was now interested only in his career, his wife, and nothing else.

After some time in the Rogers family another daughter was born, Susie, a truly angelic child. The birth went easily, Susie literally "swept through," in less than two hours, bringing great joy to her parents. On seeing Susie, Mrs. Rogers immediately blossomed, hugging the newborn affectionately, kissing her chubby cheeks, and Mr. Rogers, sobbing, hugged his beautiful women.

And so the family had a favorite. Upon noticing Susie, all the neighbors blurted out a smile: "If it isn't Sunny, there she is!" Little Sue, unlike her sister, was "perfect at everything": she sang, danced, and even drew. Everyone admired her: "God's gift! God's gift." - Everyone adored the little girl. And while "Swan" blossomed before her eyes, bathed in everyone's love, "White Crow" survived her despair by making friends with loneliness.

-Mama! Mama!" - the girl ran after her mother, tugging at the hem of her long apron, trying to get attention, but the woman did not respond. Then the girl, not noticing no reaction, jumped up to her father, who was sitting on the couch in the living room with a Playboy magazine in his hands. Standing in front of her father, the girl abruptly snatched the precious magazine from her father's hands and ran off with a loud laugh, expecting her father to chase after her, but he did not. Jack, without making a sound of indignation, took out the remote control and turned on the television, changing channels busily. But even then, a feeling of intense longing gripped the child's mind and heart. Turning around, she slowly, staggering, made her way to the couch, placed the crumpled magazine on the couch, and took one last look at her father with her deer eyes. Just as suddenly, Susie runs into the living room.

-Daddy! Daddy!" with a sweet babbling, the girl ran up to her father, smiling broadly.

-Yes, baby? - The man, reacting instantly, picked up the girl in his arms and put her in his lap.

-I love you, Daddy!"-Jack chuckled and began to tickle the little girl. - I love you, too, baby.

- Susie, stop hugging Daddy and come over here and help me bake cookies. - A mother's affectionate voice came from the kitchen.

-Now, I'm coming! - The little girl jumped off her lap and happily jumped into the kitchen.

And only a little girl standing in the distance could barely hold back tears, watching this scene. While the poor child's mind, unable to understand, "What am I doing wrong?" Unable to withstand the pressure, the girl jumped out of the house, running away wherever she could see. Where there is no mother, no father, no "Swan".

When she stopped, the little girl was very frightened. All around was a wasteland. A misty, lonely wasteland, and shadows wandered beside her. Someone was grabbing the little girl by the hair, someone was pulling her arms, and someone was screaming. Frightened, the little girl squatted, whimpering softly, covering her head with her hands. Suddenly someone's hand caressed the shaking girl's head, and then all the sounds disappeared. When Crow opened her eyes, she saw only her home.

I agree with everything you say about Nettles. But can honestly I’m not surprised with how Rhaenyra feels about her given G.R Marten sucks at writing women he either writes them as weak and defensless (like early show Sansa and even Laena) or crazy psychopaths (like Daenarys, Cercie and Rhaenyra) he can’t write women properly I don’t think I could see someone who was groomed from an early age get mad at someone like Nettles who was also groomed. But G.R Martin can’t seem to write women and ends up ruining them or having them do something out of realistic standards. Which sucks cause I think Rhaenyra and similar characters have so much potential but it’s ruined by his inability to write women. I think the problem is George R Martin.

I can totally see someone being groomed turn around and then get mad/jealous at another woman being groomed by the same man. Especially if she views that woman as being beneath her(which is the case with Rhaenyra and Nettles), but I agree that a some of the women in ASOIF fall into one dimensional tropes/stereotypes.

I think GRRM main problem is that he isn’t the best at writing complex women rather than women as a whole.

I actually think that Rhaenyra’s book characterization makes sense. She’s a woman who seems to never have been told no. Which does not go with the times she’s living in.

She’s a Targaryen so her being entitled or turning “crazy” is kinda their MO. We wouldn’t have a story if she wasn’t who she was 🤷🏽‍♀️ Plus F&B is written like a history book so her character is not as fleshed out as she would be in a traditional novel.

Sansa being an annoying preteen/teenager also makes sense. She is extremely young, naive, and grew up in a sheltered environment. She was raised to be a lady/possible queen consort so her coming off as a weak and defensive at first sight isn’t bad writing per say, but I can see how it falls into a trope.

I wouldn’t call Laena weak just underdeveloped, but again that’s mainly due to the fact that F&B is a history novel rather than a tradition one. Her arc isn’t very important in the grand scheme of things for house Targ. (I’m sorry Laena 😔 rip)

Book!Danaerys has not gone crazy yet so we’ll see what happens/how it happens.

I won’t lie, book!Cersei is written as being straight up evil(and not to mention incredibly idiotic). She’s pretty terrible. Luckily Lena Headey was/is a great actress and brought life into the character cause otherwise 😬

Honestly most people who are in positions of power like (Rhaenyra, Cersei, and Danaerys) are really messed up/evil people. Especially when you factor in the feudal system/medievalish time period ASOIF is set in. I don’t know if GRRM was trying to make a social commentary or not, but he’s not writing them too far off from how they’d really be.

Maybe I’m giving him too much credit🤷🏽‍♀️ Idk he is a male writer so he probably is biased, but I don’t think he’s the worst at writing women. If anything I’d say that the show writers(especially dumb and dumber) are pretty terrible at writing women.

i'm popular at my school because i'm conventionally attractive and have been socialised with boys long enough to hold conversation with them well. my closest friends (in school) are men, and while they all have great qualities, i have to listen to them describe in detail the girls they're pursuing in graphic detail. one guy who i am not friends with was having s3x with a girl and took his c0ndom off without her knowing. it hurt to hear men i genuinely trusted laughing like it was alright.

i wasn't conventionally attractive before 2022. i wasn't really ugly, i was just a baby. i starved myself for the possibility of attention from men. i was 12 and people encouraged me to go further, lose more weight, "make something of myself."

i am bisexual. up to this point i have always been extremely accepting of all sexualities and identities, probably because i was raised on the internet. only recently this has started to bite me. i read confessions of trans women ranting about how badly they wish they were born cis -- the sweet sixteens, attention from boys, "cute sapphic aesthetic" picnics with their girlfriends, getting your period for the first time.
