♥️Reveling in Richonne - TOWL

#52: The Ring Finger (1.06)

We’ve arrived at the TOWL finale. 🥹🥳

And y’all, the way this finale kicks off with that opening scene...🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Episode 6 hit the ground running by starting with one of Richonne's greatest moments. I love how in the first episode of TOWL, Rick essentially gave his hand for the marriage. And now in the final episode, Michonne gives her hand in marriage. 🥰

Thanks to this gorgeous wedding ring scene and their parting kiss in the woods, this teaser is top tier. Also, Richonne + candle-lit scenes stayed a blessing to the end 🕯😍...

Sometimes there are scenes that make me want to know exactly who came up with the idea so I can thank them personally. And this right here is one of those scenes. 😋 Whoever’s idea it was to have Rick put the ring on Michonne’s finger while making love surrounded by candles needs a medal lol. 👌🏽🏅

So diving into these finale revelings, I noted that the episode description for The Last Time says “Rick and Michonne have to perform a near impossible miracle” And well, since Richonne is blessed and highly favored of course they pull off a miracle. 😇

The episode begins with Rick saying, “I remember it all. What it was like. Who we were. Who we are now.”

If I’m not mistaken, I don’t think we’d heard Rick say this line before this episode. Like the following sound bites from different characters are all lines previously said throughout the miniseries, but I think this opening line from Rick is new. And it hit me on the rewatch that he’s talking about him and Michonne specifically rather than a broader ‘we’.

Like I interpret this as Rick saying how, after all their years apart, he still remembers everything about the life and the love he and Michonne had before and who they were together. You know that man has an excellent memory. Especially when it comes to Michonne. 😋

And I like that he says ‘who we are now’ because even after all they’ve been through apart, after all the ways they’ve grown and changed, who Rick and Michonne are now is still so compatible and connected. Still soulmates. 😌

Also, the episode after Rick left TWD was called 'Who Are You Now' and I love that years later, this miniseries so beautifully illustrated that who Rick and Michonne are now are still wholly each others.

The first shot as Rick says this is a shot of mountains as the helicopter flies over the terrain. And then I adore that when he says “Who we are now” we get to see Richonne in the now as they lay in this setting that always gives me regal medieval vibes fit for TWD's royal couple. 🤩

Now, I always smile when I think about my first time watching this scene. I knew this episode had an S rating going in but I didn’t know what that would entail since I thought Episode 4 would probably be the last time Richonne had a bedroom scene. And so when they cut to this scene, I remember my eyes immediately focused on what items were left on top of the table because it’s the finale so I thought certainly the stuff on the table was intentionally placed.

But then...my eyes started picking up on some motion going on in the background - and I was gagged. 🫠

I quickly realized that the most important thing going on in this scene is those two lovebirds in the back re-consummating the marriage. 👌🏽

I love everything about this. 🥰 The sensual setting with the abundance of candles. (And I just know it was that true blue romantic Rick that lit all those candles for their special 'wedding night.' 😋)

The rich colors, the lighting, the literal and figurative smokiness coming off this scene, the way the camera slowly glides over the table and inches closer to Richonne fully in their element together. 👩🏽‍🍳💋

After Rick had to watch the memory of Michonne burn away in the premiere, it’s beautiful that in the finale Rick gets to be truly back with Michonne surrounded by the far more romantic and uplifting flames of all those candles. 🕯👌🏽

Whenever I see this scene now, Richonne is all I see. 😋 But the items shown really are intentionally placed and all tell the story of their travels: the noodles, the whiskey, the soda, the map and notes, the CRM uniforms and thread. And the sound bites that play from the characters also tell the story of Richonne’s TOWL journey.

At first, I thought the sound bites were simply recapping the journey, but on rewatch I see they have even more intention in both shaping the story thus far and setting up what's to come in this finale. 

First Michonne says, “My name is Michonne. I lost someone. Years ago.” And in the background it’s so sweet seeing all the caressing going on between Rick and Michonne. Once again, it’s a canon fact that he loves being on top of her. And I love the way they’re holding onto each other and the way he’s tenderly touching her face. 🥹

Then Okafor says, “You both possess something I believe the CRM needs to become what it needs to be.” And while Okafor was originally saying that to Rick and Pearl, the line is reiterated here because it’s Richonne who truly possesses something that can change the CRM for good.

(Side note: Y'all, I must admit it's a true challenge for me to try and write and pay attention to what these characters are saying right now when Richonne is back there like that making me distracted. 😋 I keep having to rewind and refocus.🤭

Like I know we all see the way Rick has Michonne's legs hiked up in the air during this part. These talented actors are very good at selling these scenes, that’s all I gotta say lol)

Then it’s a bit of an audible jump scare when Jadis says, “People are a resource.” Didn’t quite want to hear a snake at a blissful moment like this lol.

But I'm pretty sure that corpse's line was used because Rick and Michonne are about to protect the people from the people with their plan to expose the CRM higher-ups.

Then we get a palette cleanser from hearing Jadis when we hear the best bestie Nat say, “I know how to build things and I know how to burn things, but it takes more than that at the end of the world.” And the intentionality behind using that line here is definitely because Richonne will end up employing Nat’s techniques to take down the CRM's leaders and also because the concept of building vs. burning was explored throughout the show and led to the answer that sometimes you have to do both. 

As Nat says this, we see Richonne’s backpacks and other things spread out on the ground. The way all their stuff is sprawled out...it seems like the second the mood hit and the candles were lit they threw everything off and got down to business lol.

I like how the most significant items are closest to Richonne’s bed. There’s a bloody sword and ax which feel like they pay homage to some of Richonne’s signature weapons. And I like how the blood on the sword and hatchet just adds to the fact that this stunning love story takes place in an apocalypse of all places, between two apocalyptic all-stars.

Along with the weapons, there’s Rick’s prosthetic, the meaningful iPhone, and the Danger lighter.

And best of all, y’all...there’s the wedding ring. 💍😏

As Beale’s voice says, “You tried to escape four times. Why are you here?” Rick slowly grabs the wedding ring, serving as a visual answer to why he’s here - He’s here because of Mrs. Grimes.

And y’all, when I tell you I nearly passed out just seeing that he was slowly grabbing the wedding ring. 🤭 I did not know that this epic love story was going to get this good. #BoundlesslyBlessed.

Along with the visual answer, there's then a verbal answer to why Rick and Michonne are here when Thorne says, “There’s someone you love out there.” I love hearing that play over this visual of Richonne, because truly Rick and Michonne are the one for each other and their love has fueled them to keep going. 

As this is said, Rick proceeds to do the most romantic thing ever when he slowly slides the wedding ring onto Michonne’s ring finger. Just 🫠…our ship is goated for a reason. It just don’t get any better. 👏🏽

I love the way Michonne is looking up at him with her hand on his chest and then when she realizes what Rick’s up to she holds up her hand and watches as he puts the ring on her finger all slow and sexy. And Rick is locked in during this moment, honey. 🔥

I adore how honored Rick is to be able to put this ring on Michonne and to be her forever husband and to have her as his wife. She’s Mrs. Grimes...

And I just love that he wanted her to wear the wedding ring for this intimate moment that gives such wedding night vibes. Like there’s something so sacred and majestic about this scene, especially with the lux colors, lush blanket and pillows, and the candlelight glow. 😍

Not only does Rick feel that Michonne deserves the world - he makes it his personal job to give it to her. And he does a damn good job, doesn't he? 👏🏽👏🏽😊

Rick is also very good at making things a moment and this crowning moment very clearly had an affect on Michonne. Because as Rick so tenderly slides his hand down Michonne’s arm and then looks in her eyes, Michonne looks up at her husband like she thinks he is truly the sexiest man on planet earth.

And you know what we always say…Michonne is always right. 😇

I love that Michonne’s journey took her from one; looking quite taken by Rick in their pre-canon seasons of TWD.

To two; lying down alone fiddling with Rick's ring on her finger in her final TWD episode. (Which I've always loved that after Rick's season 9 departure, Michonne wore that ring because she knew that who she and Rick were to each other was 100% husband and wife).

To three; now lying down with Rick over her so lovingly placing her wedding ring on her finger. 🙌🏽🥳

Rick always wants Michonne to know, in every way that he can express, how much he loves her. 🥹 And the abundant love Michonne continuously has for Rick is always written so clearly on her face. 🥹

Also, with Rick not having a ring finger himself it feels like placing this wedding ring on Michonne during a moment where they’re this one and interconnected is almost like placing the ring on them.

As they have this eye contact moment that is just chemistry on another level, it’s paired with Michonne’s heartrending line from the masterpiece Episode 4 when she asks Rick, “Do you still love me?” And Rick passionately answers, “Always.”

Those are fitting lines to include because this TOWL journey had Richonne having to navigate what their love looks like now and officially see that they truly have always loved each other and always will.

And now here they are in this beautifully intimate moment, one in every way, letting their undying love just fill the entire atmosphere. 🥰

And truly, Rick looks at Michonne like she’s the most beautiful treasure in the world. At this moment, he's looking at her like he’s again thinking “I love you always.” And in all ways. Amen. 👌🏽

I adore how, after he puts the ring on, both Rick and Michonne look like they've somehow managed to fall even deeper in love by the second.

Michonne softly places her ring-clad hand back on Rick's chest and then he leans in as they share another very passionate kiss. And y’all, the only beef I have with this teaser is with that fade-to-black. It comes in too quick lol. 🤭The fade-to-black could’ve waited just a second or two more, because you know some of us be greedy. 😂

But regardless, it’s a great hot-and-heavy kiss and just shows yet again that Rick and Michonne are each other's strongest craving. This whole Richonne ring moment was perfect. 🤩

TOWL really said 'I now pronounce Richonne the hottest husband and wife on television.' 🔥👏🏽

Ages ago, I was really eager for Richonne to have rings of their own, and little did I know I’d just have to wait about eight years and then Rick would put a ring on Michonne in a stunning lovemaking scene like this. And once again, it was entirely worth the years-long wait. 😇

I appreciate the way this opening scene just immediately set the tone of how TOWL started as an epic love story and would conclude as an epic love story. What a dream. 👏🏽

And because we’re spoiled, y’all, the teaser doesn’t even end there. 

They then cut to the woods with Rick and Michonne looking like the baddest to ever do it in their black CRM uniforms as they walk forward with the helicopter in the back. Move over Mr. and Mrs. Smith, this is Mr. and Mrs. Grimes on a mission. 🔥

And then as Rick and Michonne walk, they stop and turn to each other and immediately kiss like their life depends on it and I’m always here for it. Like I’ll forever be elated over the fact that there were kisses in every single episode of this 6 episode miniseries, and not just that but most episodes had multiple kissing scenes too. Richonne kissed more in 6 episodes than they did in their four seasons on canon on TWD.

And truly, not even just from a shipper perspective but from a story perspective, it makes perfect sense for these characters who are madly in love and haven’t been able to express it for over eight years to be kissing all the time like this. Cuz I mean...

And now that they’re back together, of course these soulmates are going to make up for that lost time every chance they get. It's just realistic. 😌👌🏽

So I love that our goated captains came back to make this 6-episode miniseries and said guess how many episodes we can fit kisses into...

All 6, baby. 😋 This particular kiss in the woods is meaningful too because Rick and Michonne are about to part for the first time since agreeing to go home together and you know for magnets going their separate ways isn’t easy or ideal, especially when what they’re parting to do is dangerous.

But I love that because their kisses are communication, this kiss was the two making it so clear to each other that no matter what the CRM tries to do, they are each other's ultimate choice and they’re in it together.

Like I love the reassuring vibe of this passionate kiss and the way Rick holds her face and then the way they stare into each other's eyes afterward and nod, again communicating so much. 🥰 They’re about to reenter the lion's den and this moment just felt like them giving each other the strength to do so.

And y’all, you know I stay getting distracted by Richonne so I forgot Michonne's voiceover is actually saying something in this scene lol. Lemme go happily rewind a sec. ⏮😋

Okay, so while they share this golden kiss, Michonne gives insight into their plan when she says, “It sounds simple, right? We go in. You get the briefing. I get the dossier she left behind. We bring what we know to the city, then go home. Together.”

As this is said, Michonne holds Rick’s arm until the last second as he turns to go which is sweet. They are really each other's baby, y'all. 🥲And as she watches him, we hear her say, “It’s never that simple.”

I know that this last line is meant to be ominous but one thing I'm grateful for about how TWD & TOWL approached Richonne is that it's not like other relationships and things in the show that have to ultimately end in tragedy. Richonne was built to last and be an actual lasting win for Rick and Michonne in this series, which is why I never feared that the two would split up or die because the love they found with each other is the one thing this franchise allows to be unbreakable and triumphant.

So next, Rick slowly walks up to the gates with his hands up as his voiceover says, “I’m Sergeant Major Rick Grimes. You probably think I’m dead.” I like that line because as we know TOWL was a whole journey of Rick dying and coming back to life through Michonne. So now, for the first time in a long time, it’s Alive Rick rolling up to the CRM. 👌🏽

Then as the CRM soldiers slowly open the gate for him, the teaser ends with Rick recalling his father's words saying, “He said I didn’t need to be scared. That it was just ‘the burning.’” Then the scene fades to black just like how this teaser started and y’all, I just gotta clap it up for that teaser. That ring moment alone had me overjoyed and then the kiss in the matching uniforms and Rick's fine gait up to the gate was the cherry on top. 👏🏽👏🏽

We were already feasting and the finale was just beginning. I appreciate that since this is ‘the last time,’ this show let Richonne do what they do best one last time and just put their love and chemistry on full display. 👌🏽😌

im not online like that any more but sometimes when I go to check in on friends via instagram a reel is thrown in front of my face and while I typically have the dignity to turn away ive grown enamored by 2 accounts that i now regularly look forward to seeing. He's never been a big fan of eye contact, finding it challenging to maintain, and when he manages usually people are looking at him with such an unkind mix of pity, disgust and contempt that he'd rather they weren't looking at him at all. But when he locks eyes with you and sees kindness, and interest, and not a single ounce of judgement, he knows that he never wants to look away from your perfect face, not for a second. And when he gets to see your eyes crease in the corners when he makes you smile and laugh with his ridiculous behaviour, well he thinks you are somehow even more beautiful.

Adrian likes to cuddle so much he wonders how he survived before you came into his life! The first time the two of you watch a movie together and you throw a blanket over you both, laying your legs over his lap and nuzzling against his chest, you could practically hear his heart hammering away in excitement, so happy to be there with you and so scared he would do something to ruin such a happy moment. Now that he's more comfortable about your relationship he's definitely the one to instigate, collapsing into bed with his arms wide open and whimpering until you land on his chest, his whole body encircling yours as he kisses the top of you and tells you're stuck there now.

Adrian is definitely more of the spontaneous type who'll turn up at your door unannounced with a bouquet of flowers or a crate of beer, and ask if you'll please go out with him tonight, and offer that's hard to refuse when he gives you those big pleading puppy dog eyes. Dates are a lot of fun, usually doing something a bit more silly and childish than the typical dinner and a movie. He'll take you to an arcade, or a bar with a mechanical bull and try and show off his skills for you, but sometimes the best dates are just nights at home with wine and takeout, where you realise that it's suddenly 3am and you've ended up in a blanket fort on the floor and decide to just spend the night there - you two would be happy just about anywhere as long as you're together.

In the past Adrian hasn't exactly had a lot of dating experience, but if someone showed an interest in him and he didn't feel the same way, he'd be very blunt about it - not necessarily as sensitive as he should be, but making sure there is absolutely no room for misunderstanding.

f - fiancee (how do they feel about commitment? how quick would they want to get married?)

Deep down (like way deep down before he meets you) Adrian is a real hopeless romantic. You've seen how much friendship means to him, and he knows being married is like having the closest of best friends, to love you forever, and who wants to be your friend for the rest of your life. He can't imagine anything more special than that, but he's also never had someone he felt like he could picture that kind of relationship with. Then of course you come into his life and fill it with kindness and laughter and warmth and suddenly he struggles to keep the l-word from falling of his lips every time you hold his hand, and he starts keeping a ring in his pocket for the moment he's at least 50% sure you might say yes.

g - gentle (how gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

Despite a violent streak and almost superhuman strength, Adrian would be so incredibly soft and gentle when it comes to you. He knows what it's like to have you feelings hurt again and again and he never wants to make you feel as awful as he does when he speaks to someone other than you. He'd make sure he never delivered his snark in your direction, and is quick to tell you how smart your ideas are, supporting you in whatever you want to do. Physically he'd try and be conscious of his strength too, holding your hand very softly, and giving only the nicest, gentlest touches to your face when the two of you kiss. Sometimes he'll get a little too excited though and lift you into the air, throwing you against a bed or pulling you into a hug that threatens to take your breath away.

Adrian loves when you hug him so so much. The first time he feels you wrap your arms over his shoulders and pull him against your chest, a lump forms in his throat and he's not sure why, everything feeling so overwhelming as you tell him you're glad he came back from a mission safely. He'd think of nothing else for days, considering putting himself in increasingly dangerous situations just so you might have a reason to hug him. In the end he decides to just walk into your arms the next time he sees you, and surely enough you respond by giving him a firm squeeze and stroking his head as it rests on your shoulder. He'll always be asking for hugs now that you two are item, pulling you into his arms if he thinks it's been too long since you last gave him his fix.

i - injury (how would they act if they got hurt?)

At first when Adrian gets hurt around you, he plays it off as if he barely notices it, wanting to seem cool and tough and making sure you don't feel too worried about him. Even when he's bragging about how quickly he'll be healed up and back to normal, you still insist on cleaning up his cuts, and as you gently lift his chin with your finger and take such precious care delicately cleaning any wounds that haven't healed themselves yet, he'll kick himself for not letting you do this more often, being the focus of your attention, his favourite place to be. He'll quickly start acting like more and more of a baby when he gets hurt, insisting that you and only you patch him up, working up the nerve to ask you to kiss that little cut on his lip better.

When you get hurt, holy shit does this boy panic. He doesn't know how serious any pain is in someone who doesn't heal like him, so he constantly offers to drive you to the hospital, not calming down until you give him a little task to do instead so he can feel helpful.

j - jealousy (how jealous do they get? what do they do when they're jealous?)

Despite being such an objectively incredibly gifted person physically, Adrian has had a tough time making people like him in his life, which leaves him feeling pretty insecure about himself. So when he sees someone he thinks is a lot more 'normal' than him talking to you, he can't help but feel distraught that they can offer you a better life than he ever could. He thinks he is the luckiest person in the world for having landed someone as perfect as you, so it makes sense that his luck would run out at some point, forcing himself to at least slink over and find out a bit more about the person that's come to take you away from him. When you feel him approach, looking a bit sorry for himself, you make sure to tug his arm around your waist and introduce him as your boyfriend with the proudest smile you can, watching as his eyes brighten at the sound of your voice and a matching smile grows on his cheeks as he plants a huge kiss on yours.

Thankfully Adrian is probably too oblivious for anyone else to flirt with him, so you'll only experience jealousy when he talks devotedly about Peacemaker.

Oh my god, the first time you kiss Adrian, the vigilante has never been more caught off guard in his life. It doesn't matter how much flirting you've done, how many times your loving gaze has flicked between his eyes and his lips, the moment you press a soft, sweet peck to his little pouting lips, his brain is completely shutting down. Even the slightest kiss is so special to him that he thinks it's more likely you did it by accident than you actually want him to kiss you too. It will take you explicitly explaining that you have feelings for him and that you want to kiss him before he feels able to kiss you too, and by then he's smiling so widely he needs ten minutes to calm down before he even can.

Once you pass the newfound territory of little pecks whenever he sees you, moving to more intimate, open-mouthed, fingertips trailing through hair, full-bodied kissing behind closed doors, Adrian is like a man possessed. His usually very active mouth is finally quiet long enough to capture yours, pulling you into his lap where he can feel your full weight lean against him, a hungry marathon of sloppy kisses capturing your lips, moaning against you in overwhelming excitement. You can try and move your lips to his neck and mark him as your own, but as much as he loves the feelings of you bruising his skin, he finds himself whimpering until he can taste your sweet kiss again.

He'll leave it as long as he can take it before he gently traces a finger over your skin, his heart fluttering from the tiny bit of contact before finally your eyes flutter open to the biggest smile you've ever seen. Once you're awake be prepared to get tackled into a huge hug, his mouth suddenly racing at a thousand words a minute telling you how much he missed you while he was asleep and how pretty you are in the morning and how even your snoring is cute. He could happily stay in bed with you forever, so you'll have to be the one to drag him out of bed and into the kitchen for breakfast, where he'll continue clinging to you for dear life.

Adrian's always been a night owl, given so much of his patrols and missions take place at night. He much prefers the nights he spends with you though, trying to find a few hours of peace in an otherwise chaotic life. He likes that it's time that the two of you usually get to spend alone together, curled up in each other's arms with no plans you don't want and nowhere else you need to be except together. When you two crawl into bed, he loves to lay in the dark and just look at your features in the dimmest of moonlight, telling you his silliest thoughts, and some of the deep ones he feels too vulnerable to say with the lights on, never letting you fall asleep without a reminder of how much you mean to him and how much happier his life is with you in it.

Adrian has absolutely no filter when it comes to talking about his life, telling you everything you want to know, and a bunch of stuff you didn't even ask long before the two of you have even been on a date. In his mind, you're one of the first people that's ever seemed genuinely interested in him, and he wants to make the most of that before he inevitably reveals something about himself that will scare you off like he does with everyone else. The one thing he'd struggle to come out and tell you initially is just how much you mean to him. The feelings are so new and scary that he's sure there's no way you could feel the same, so you would have to be the one to put yourself out there and let him know he's bewitched your whole heart.

p - patience (how patient are they usually? what tends to wear their patience thin?)

Thanks to all his training, patrolling, staking out locations, and worst of all having to work in a restaurant, Vigilante is surprisingly patient. He's more than happy to wait forever if it makes things less stressful for you, and he'd give up every second of his time to help you do something, he really is just that devoted. He only starts to get impatient when the two of you are apart, and it feels like his soul is aching to get back to your arms.

q - quality time (how do they like to spend with you?)

At first Adrian feels a lot of pressure to always be having the exciting kind of fun with you, suggesting lots of different date ideas and never wanting you to have a dull moment around him. It would take a bit of work for you to have him get used to just spending a night in with you, cuddled up together and doing very little, finally getting the idea in his head that you could never get bored of him. He still prefers to go out for dates with you most of the time, loving sitting at a bar or diner with someone who only wants to be with him, but that doesn't mean he doesn't adore the days the two of you spend every hour just talking in bed about nothing.

r - remember (what is their favourite moment in your relationship?)

Because of the need to protect his identity, most of Adrian's interactions (even some of the most intimate ones) have been from behind his helmet, leaving him feeling a lot less confident in his face than he is in the rest of his body. Given you met him as Vigilante first, he was worried that you were disappointed the first time you saw the face under his mask, unable to read your expression by the time he put his glasses back on. He'd be very happy that your feelings for him grew despite that, but there would always be a voice in the back of his head that thought you liked him better with his helmet on.

So the first time the two of you were locked in your usual prolonged make out sessions and you hinted at going further than kissing, he immediately made the offer before you could ask for it;

"Do you want me to put my helmet back on?" The question would stop you dead in your tracks, trying to read his almost apologetic expression as you replied.

"That would make it pretty difficult to kiss you." You watched his eyes drift down to your lap as he struggled to make his case.

"But it means you only have to look at the best parts of me." His muscles seem to flex beneath you as if to assume that's what you want from him, the parts of him he can't work out feeling like a short-coming.

"I think every part of you is the best Adrian." His eyes snap up at your words, searching your gaze for deception or mocking and finding nothing but sweetness. "And I love your face." You trace a finger over his features as if considering each one and coming to only the happiest conclusion, "I like your eyes, and your glasses, and your nose, and your smile, and you're a good kisser, so overall your face is pretty damn important to me." With each soft touch he feels years of insecurity melt away, any self doubt dissolving under your loving gaze until he can't stand to not be kissing you a second longer, lifting you into his arms as he does and carrying towards the bedroom as quickly as his legs can manage after you've all but turned them to jelly.

s - security (how protective are they? how would they protect you? how would they like to be protected?)

Adrian knows just how dangerous the world can be (although a big chunk of that danger comes from him personally) so he would feel incredibly protective of you from the first time you met. He likes being able to use his strength and skills to keep you safe, and make you feel like you're secure as long as he's around you, wanting to give you every reason to keep him close. He'd insist on escorting you everywhere he could, keeping an arm around you once he feels able to touch you that way. He feels especially lucky when you let him sleep over and he can watch over you while you sleep, making sure you have only the sweetest dreams.

It may not feel like you can do too much to protect a man like Vigilante, but everything you do makes him feel like nothing in the world can get to him. Your loving words and supportive encouragement protect him from the cruel teasing of others, and he knows that his sensitve heart is safe now that it belongs to you.

t - try (how much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

Adrian's waited a long time to have someone finally feel the way you do about him, and he would want to go out of his way every single day to show you how much he appreciates it. His efforts might sometimes come from a strange direction or be a bit misguided, but you will never feel like he takes you for granted, and he'll never be the kind to let an occasion pass without marking it. He'd love putting in effort every day with you, because the domestic life the two of you build together would make him so happy that doing the smallest jobs in your little home would feel like such an honour.

u - upset (how do they act when you're upset? how do they act when they're upset?)

Vigilante doesn't get upset very often, so when he does it's very easy to notice. The big warning sign is that he'll get very quiet, a real contrast to his usual monologue of adoration. He doesn't usually tell you what's wrong until you ask, worried about burdening you with something silly, but when you pull his head against your chest and rub his back softly, all his feelings will come pouring out, suddenly feeling so much lighter when he has your reassurance.

When you're upset Adrian is very quick to assume he's done something wrong, so he would be very quick to try and make up for it. It would be hard to stay sad about anything as he runs around desperately parading gifts in front of you and telling all his worst jokes until eventually you reassure him that you still love him and that it's something else bothering you, at which point he would collapse and cuddle you and make sure you had all your favourite things for as long as you need. (although the jokes don't stop)

v - vanity (how concerned are they with their looks?)

Adrian's owned the same four outfits for his entire adulthood and never really thinks about the way he looks out of his vigilante costume. He works out a lot and feels pretty good about that, but when you gently push his glasses up the bridge of his nose first thing in the morning, leaving a kiss of the bridge of it and beaming up at him, he'd start to feel pretty good about his looks too.

w - wildcard (a random headcanon for them.)

One of Adrian's favourite things in the world is when you come and pick him up from his day job at Fennel Fields. Sometimes he feels like his colleagues think he's a weird loser and he can't tell them anything else about himself for fear of giving his identity today (since he's kind of terrible at lying) so he can start to feel quite down about himself when he has his shifts there. Luckily all it takes is a split second glimpse of you as he's clearing his final tables for the day, and suddenly he feels like the biggest hero in the galaxy, racing to get finished so he can practically sprint out the door and into your arms. Sure it doesn't hurt if his colleagues see that he has an incredible partner who cares enough about him to come meet him after work, but what they think stops mattering to him the second he's basking in the light of your presence.

x - x-ray (how easily are they able to read you?)

He's reasonably oblivious when it comes to reading just about anyone, and unfortunately that can apply to you too. You have to be pretty careful about telling him when you're being sarcastic or when he's done something you don't like, but luckily he's very quick to ask questions and check in with how you are, so the two of you would quickly find the best way to communicate.

y - yuck (what things do you do that they hate?)

Sometimes Adrian worries about the way you see the best in people, his black and white view of the world telling him that most people can't be trusted. That and when you break even the tiniest law (jaw-walking, speeding slightly, parked on double yellows for five seconds to pick him up) and he'd have to face his own hypocrisy because he knows he could never punish you.

z - zzz (what is a sleep habit of theirs?)

Adrian wakes up a lot in the night because of how alert he is all the time. He tries to be careful about waking you, but sometimes when he gets up in his head worrying that something will happen to you and he can't get back to sleep, he'll shake you gently by the shoulder until you turn around and let him burrow under the blankets to lie against your chest, suddenly feel so much more at rest when your arms are wrapped around him, sleepily stroking over his back.

Was thinking about what cute names Bruce’s grandchildren would call Him and Tim.

I think Bruce would either have a very strong opinion very early on. He would be very formal about it too and maybe wait till a large number of the family is present and announce what he would like his grandparent name to be. He wouldn’t go into sentimental detain just announce it then proceed to not take any questions or input about it.

I want Bruce’s to end up something stupidly cute in the end though. Maybe he had picked something but the poor baby never liked it or could never say it. No matter how much Bruce held them and said ‘ Opa’ or ‘Pa’ or ‘Grandpa’.

The thing is the oldest or firstborn grand children usually end up picking their grandparents names. All the babies that come along later all just know them as that. So Bruce is forever something Like Buba or BooBoo. This is of course encouraged by the child’s parents and auntie and uncle because it is hilarious.

Then I started thinking about alternative grandparents names that are kinda made up and personal. Like the ways babies can’t talk and often miss pronouns names and then you get stuck with other a totally bizarre one like;

‘BAH BAH’ ‘ NAR-nee’ ‘wubbie’ I have a friend that helped raise her much younger sibling and he pronounced her name like a literal little ‘sneeze’ sound “ah-Choo” but in the cutest baby voice.

sometimes small children imitate their parents behaviour and learn to call their mum or dad ‘babe’ or ‘honey’ ‘dear’ ‘sweetheart’ it literally the cutest most beautiful thing ever! It is such a pure reflection of their parents love and affection in tiny baby toddlers form 🥰😍😭 Imagine all the grand children calling Timmy “My Love” “Baby” “Darling” because that’s is what they hear him being called 24/7 so they just come to think that his name 🥺🥺😩

So I thing it would be so so so cute if Tim had the most heartwarminy cute name gifted to him by all his grand babies 🥰☺️

You tilt your gaze up, and catch sight of the white clouds, only floating lazily above. It felt like a summer trance, where the sun was too bright, and skin too sweaty. Maybe for a moment, you could pretend you were somewhere else.

But before you could even close your eyes, the voice of a familiar captain slips through your sweet daydream.

"[name]!" Ryusui calls out, trudging through the border that fades from grass to sand. Surprised, you snap out of it, acknowledging him back politely.

"Ryu. Hi," you mutter, staring back at the sea. "I thought you were busy with the ship."

The blond hums, slowing his pace. "I was, but I also came to check on you," he places a hand over his peaked cap. "I was wondering where our favorite singer went."

You shoot him a weak smile. "Just taking a break from the others. You know how I am."

He huffs, amused as he stops by your side, enjoying the view. "Some of them are quite the character, aren't they? I think I can still hear Taiju's battle cry from here."

"Like," you snort, "like you aren't as loud."

"True. I am. Does it bother you?" He grins.

"No, no. Of course not," you shake your head, smile turning shy. "I don't really mind if it's you."

"Ooh, very biased, aren't you?" his tone lilts teasingly, "I must be special."

Flushing, you brush it off, hand coming up to rub at your neck. "When are you not, really," you mumble.

You weren't going to lie. You did prefer when Bill was here. Not only because that meant he hadn't been killed off somewhere in Egypt while doing his job, but you found yourself slowly falling for him. He was this tall, handsome, brave, adventurous, funny, and absolutely enthralling man. Completely opposite to you and your boring desk job at Gringotts.

"Well, I've got good news, love" he said, grabbing a chair from the empty desk next to you and pulling it to sit by your side. "I'm here indefinitely" he informed you.

"W-what? What do you mean indefinitely?" you asked, confused. "I mean, I know what indefinitely means, I'm just confused b-because" you stopped, looking at him. Bill was staring back at you with the most lovely gaze you had ever seen. "S-sorry, I'm rambling" you chuckled.

"I don't mind it, love" he told you. "But, to answer to your question, I'm moving back home" he said.

"Y-you are? What about Egypt? I thought you loved it there" you told him.

"I do" he sighed. "It's a long story, but I actually don't mind being back since I asked for a desk job and well, it looks like we're going to be neighbors" he said, pointing at the desk on your side.

"Y-you uh- really?" you asked, feeling your heart beating the fastest you've ever felt it. You were going to see Bill here. Every day. Next to you.

"Really" he nodded. "As I see it this is the biggest perk of being back" he smiled. "Well that and... I also wanted to ask you something" he said, grabbing your hand and holding it in his.

"S-sure" you said, feeling as if your heart could explode at any moment.

"Well, since I just moved back here, I would truly love it if my favorite person shows me around and maybe goes out with me to have dinner tonight?"

It took you a bit too long to comprehend what was happening. William Arthur Weasley was asking you out. You.

"Y-you mean me?"

"Of course, I mean you, love" he smiled. "I mean, if that is okay with you, I don't want you make you feel uncomfortable or anything so I understand if you-"

"I would love to" you said, smiling at him being the one nervously (and adorably) rambling now.

"Y-you would?" he asked, hopefully, and you nodded.

"Yes" you smiled back at him.

"Brilliant!" he said, getting up and kissing your cheek. "So, I can be back in a couple of hours when your shift is done" he explained. "Is that okay?" he asked, getting up and pulling you with him.

"That sounds great" you smiled, biting your bottom lip.

"Merlin, I really wanted to do this tonight but... can I kiss you? I missed you so much and you look so beautiful and... to be honest with you it's the only thing I have been thinking for the last few months" he chuckled, making you laugh a little.

“Yo Hob, where’s my mask at?” You asked as you watched yourself in the mirror. Your tooth brush sudsy with toothpaste as you quickly brushed at your teeth.

Crashing with Gwen and Hobie was certainly a risky decision to make, but with you always traversing the multi-verses you never stayed anywhere for too long. Which is why you were staying with the two. Well, staying with Hobie. Gwen was currently out on the hunt for a new anomaly, and you were eager to get to work with her.

“Didn’t you leave it on the couch?” He responded as he slipped his ripped leather jacket over his shoulders. The man was already geared up and ready to go. “I don’t know, that’s why I’m asking you.” You retorted with the roll of your eyes. You soon rinsed your mouth out with water and tossed your toothbrush into a cup. As you went to exit the bathroom, you took notice of the lack of toilet paper (courtesy of living with two other people), and sighed. “We need more toilet paper Hobie, we’ve already run out.”

He peeked his head throw the doorway, taking a glance at what you had mentioned and laughed. “Ain’t that something. We’ll buy some from a different universe, I’d rather not provide to this crappy economy. Now hurry it up mate, we’ve already got a mission.” You scoffed at his stubbornness as you headed towards the cluttered living area. Per-usual, it was a mess. But you didn’t have time for that now. You dug under piles of junk and gadgets until finally you got your hands on your mask. “Ew..” You grumbled as you stared at the ink stain on the side of your mask. Shooting a look towards Hobie, he only returned it with a grin before pulling his mask over his face.

“We’re cleaning this place up when we get back. Now let’s go.”

The two of you departed, a portal appearing in front of you. The dynamic shapes and colors had grown to be something of a norm to you, though you couldn’t say the same as you hopped through it and shot through the tunnel. It still managed to twist and turn your stomach up.

“I believe this is the place.” Hobie chimed as the two of you clung to a building side. “Ya think?” Hobie only chuckled at your sarcasm, having already grown quite used to it.

The evening sunset was almost as mesmerizing as the large mountain of houses. They followed along a road that spiraled all the way down to where they stood. It was like staring up at a giant version of the Aztec temples. “Sometimes I forget how different these universes can be. Alright Hobie, you know who we’re looking for so lead the way.”

He gave you a pat on the back before shooting out a web and pulling himself in the air. You could only smile at his playfulness and follow his movements, now swinging yourself towards the top of the mountain. The area was vibrant with warm colors, reds, blues, and green accenting the bright gold of the buildings. You’d been to plenty of universes, but none quite as beautiful as this. Smells of food, and seasonings flooded your nostrils, as well as the chattering of the busy streets. “Cool innit? Went here once with Gwendy, was a little preoccupied though.”

“With?” You questioned as you worked your way to the top of the mountain.

“This wild variant of the lizard. He was huge! More of a crocodile I’d say.” His enthusiastic attitude seemed to infect you, another smile creeping it’s way onto your face. “That sounds cool as hell. Yo is that who we’re looking for?” Your eyes widened as your spider sense raised your alert. Up ahead stood a large statue, though unlike usual statues, this one was moving. It worked at ripping a large jewel that stood at the very top of the mountain. Hobie, who had been swinging backwards, spun around, the lenses of his mask widening. Then they narrowed. He pulled his guitar from over his shoulder, holding it in one hand as he swung himself towards the golden statue. “Taking that as a yes.”

You webbed the side of two buildings, tugging at the webbing and slingshotting yourself towards the chaos. “I’ll get its legs, you- do whatever. I know you don’t like to listen.” You huffed out.

“You know me so well, love.” He said as he went to taking out the giant. You went to do the same, now swinging your webs around the statues legs. While at first your idea was working, the giant seemed to have a mind of its own. It ripped the webbing in half, but in doing so lost its balance. It tumbled, falling backwards and heading straight for the edge of the cliff. You tried not to panic, and Hobie was now joining you in stopping the giants potential destruction of the golden city. You worked at making a canopy between two poles, the wide wall of webs ready to catch the giant in its grasp.

Hobie stood at the top of a building, webs shot out to slow the giants fall. He strained, pulling back at the web lines. And it worked. The giant was caught in their web.

The two of you met up, now standing in the orange dirt with a victorious look. Then you glanced at one another. “High five?”

Their hands met, the sound of victory ringing in their ears. “High five. Hell yeah Y/N!” His arm found its way around your shoulders, tugging you closer as he spouted jokes. However, you interrupted, “We still have to clean up when we get back.” Hobie’s jubilant expression turned unamused, and he sucked his teeth sighing at your seriousness.

“We really gotta loosen you up love. Now let’s get this guy back in his universe.” His thick accent made it difficult for you to comprehend at first, but once you did, you nodded. The two of you had completed your mission, unscathed, and with time to spare. You were certainly impressed with your efficient work.

I'm telling you all this because I've found a lot of posts where people are overwhelmed and feel like they can't go on. I'm telling you that you can. It's up to you. Don't let the bastards win. Ever. Do this for you because you deserve it. I lived through reprehensible atrocities that no one should ever have to live through. But I made a choice. I would not let that define me. I would change my narrative. And I did. In doing so, I found beauty in Hell. I found that I am more understanding for it. I found that I'm more compassionate for it. And the greatest gift of all was that I could help others who felt the way I did. There is beauty in everything. That is a great gift. Sometimes you have to look really hard to find it, but it's there. Take a little step forward today. And the next and the next. If you stumble, get up and take another step. Let setbacks motivate you to do better. I believe that all the people out there can achieve greatness in their own way. Take a breath and move forward. You were blunt, almost rude, with a fiery personality that clashed with plenty of people.

Sampo's... conman-styled disposition also clashed with people, sure, but not in the same upfront way yours did.

Needless to say, when you two first met, opposites did not attract.

"I've half a mind to go tattle to the guards now! 'Savior of Belobog' or not, I don't care!"

But still, he found himself considering paying more visits to the overworld Belobog, hopeful to catch a glimpse of you.

You, meanwhile, actually found yourself in the Underworld more often.

The people were less uptight, less noble, and far more able to take your rough and tumble personality.

Plus, there were far more enjoyers of the metal music you loved putting on shows for.

Sure, you'd still play with Serval in Belobog when she had a show going, but the Underworld was a different type of crowd.

However, more than once, you'd notice an unpleasantly familiar head of blue hair enjoying your performances.

So finally, you confront him.

"What are you doing here, Koski?" You'd heard plenty about him from Gepard by way of Serval.

"Aw, just coming to appreciate the beauty of your music!"

It was rather irritating how his eyes raked up and down your form on emphasis of "beauty".

"Aren't these free-for-all concerts? Can't blame a guy for trying to find some good entertainment down here, huh?"

"Just don't cause any trouble with my fans."

"But I'm also one of your fans, Y/N!"

Eventually, Sampo wormed his way into your company by way of sheer annoyance.

It didn't take long for you to become reluctantly used to his company, allowing him to hang out after concerts and show you the ropes of the Underworld.

He got on your nerves, but you tolerated him.

Sampo, meanwhile, enjoyed your presence a lot. You were rough around the edges, sure, but he saw that hidden sweet side occasionally.

As you put up with him, he started to grow on you, too.

A conman, sure, but he always repaid his debts just as he claimed. Not to mention, he was a pretty good audience member for your shows.

Though you still got on his case if he tried to scam you, you quite frankly scared him a bit.

Soon, sometimes, you'd pretend to go along with his scams. When you were quick to transfer him some credits for his latest scheme one time, it freaked him out so bad that he stopped trying his tricks on you.

In fact, he had showed up to your doorstep with a bouquet of flowers and a deeply nervous grin.

"H-Heey, Y/N! Sorry again about that... little misunderstanding with the product link, ahaha... I thought these might make it up to you!"

"Flowers? Really? Do I look like the flower-enjoying type?"

Please spare him... he's already at his wit's end.

Sampo had had plans to ask you out formally, but you kinda beat him to it.

He honestly thought you'd be more difficult to catch.

After that night, it was clear to everyone that you and Sampo had begun dating. You were quite the odd pairing to most, though.

Gepard even asked you if he was extorting you or anything, and if you wanted him to beat Sampo up on your behalf.

But no. In fact, Sampo was quite a gentleman as a partner.

You didn't go on dates all too often, but he was always your loudest supporter at every concert.

He already took a real shine to your music, but after getting together, he had a newfound appreciation for your work.

You also taught him to play, though he wasn't the best at most instruments. His voice isn't too shabby, though.

You found yourself worming some lyrics into some of your newer compositions that had to do with him.

Somehow, it felt like the songs that were subconsciously about Sampo were a bit easier to write.

Serval took a habit of teasing you whenever your lyrics would get mushier than usual, and as though reflecting your hot-headed embarrassment, the next several lines would be loud and raging.

Still, Sampo appreciated what you did.

In spite of all his flaws and unsavory ways, you could at least be thankful for that.

Besides... running up prices on ticket resales to your shows was a way more lucrative business opportunity!

He got a smack over the head for that one, though.

Jesse leans back in the chair, his eyes closing as he lets the song of summer wash over him. His cyare, his perfect beautiful cyare, likes to laugh and shake her head when he calls the cicadas that.

Still, aside from a few lightly teasing remarks, she doesn’t judge him overly much for his fascination with these insects.

“I knew I’d find you out here,” There’s the familiar sound of a glass door sliding open, and Jesse opens his eyes to tilt his head back, a grin crossing his face when he sees her standing there. She’s dressed down…way down, a tank top and her panties and not much else. “How are you not melting into a puddle? There’s no Air Conditioning out here.”

“Come on, cyare. It’s not that bad.”

She makes a face at him and gestures vaguely to her hair, which is starting to frizz from the humidity, in spite of the late hour.

“You’re wrong.”

Jesse’s grin broadens, “You look beautiful.”

“Ugh.”

“Cyare~” He shifts on the chair so he’s half facing her and holds his hands out to her, “Come and sit with me.”

She sighs, “We’re going to be eaten alive by mosquitos, Jesse.” But, even so, she opens the screen door and steps onto the back porch to join him, “You’re lucky I don’t have any neighbors, or else they’d be getting a show.”

“They’d all think, ‘damn, that Jesse guy is a lucky asshole’.” Jesse replies, catching her hips when she steps around him to sit in the other chair. He tugs her onto his lap and swings her legs sideways over the arm of the chair, “There, isn’t that better?”

“It’d be better if it wasn’t so hot.” She complains, even as she tucks her head against his shoulder and lightly rubs her cheek against the thin material of his shirt.

“If it was colder, we couldn’t be outside together.” Jesse tightens his arms around her and lightly nudges her with his shoulder, “And you look stunning under the starlight.”

She averts her gaze with a shy laugh, and Jesse feels his heart swell. She’s so adorable, even with everything they’ve done together, after all the time they’ve been dating, she still gets embarrassed when he compliments her.

Maker, he loves her so much.

He nudges her one more time, and she lifts her gaze to meet his, “I love you.” Jesse murmurs, “So much.”

Her lips curl up into a small smile, “How much?”

Jesse leans in and bumps his forehead against hers, his gaze remaining locked with her own, “I love you more than there are stars in the sky. More than all of the water on Kamino. More than all of the sand on Tatooine-”

She tilts her head and catches his lips with her own, silencing his rambling. Her hands, soft and warm and gentle, come up to caress his face, and gentle fingers trace the tattoo on his face.

“I love you just as much,” She whispers against his lips, “Thank you for choosing me.”

“Thank you for allowing yourself to be chosen.” Jesse replies, before he catches her lips in another, deeper, kiss.

Sometimes, true love is finding each other after a decade apart.

Other times, true love is finding a way to stay together even if you’re from different worlds.

Sometimes, though. Sometimes true love is sitting on your lover’s lap in the muggy summer heat listening to the cicadas sing the song of summer all around you.
