Reducing Transformer Losses and Improving Performance
Transformers play a key role in the efficient distribution of power. However, during power transformation, they tend to lose energy, which gradually reduces their performance efficiency.
Therefore, to maintain its high performance efficiency, it is essential to understand the nature of those energy losses.
Types of Transformer Losses
Transformers typically experience two types of losses: Core (Iron loss) and Winding (Copper loss).
Iron Losses
Iron losses take place inside the transformer’s core because of its continuously altering magnetic field.
Hysteresis loss: Because the core material repeatedly changes its magnetic field, some energy is spent on realigning the magnetic domains. So, every time the magnetic field reverses, a transformer loses energy in the form of heat, which is known as hysteresis loss.
Eddy current loss: Eddy loss occurs when the alternating magnetic fields of the core induce circulating currents in the conductive core material, generating heat and adding more energy loss to the core losses.
Cores made of grain-oriented silicon steel or Amorphous material can significantly minimize iron losses. Amorphous cores are relatively more expensive, but are worth it in the long run as they also help reduce the extra power distribution costs due to energy loss.
Copper Losses
Copper wires show resistance to current flowing through the windings, causing copper losses. This energy is lost as heat.
High-resistance windings cause greater copper losses. So, if you use wires with larger diameters in the windings, they will reduce the resistance faced by current.
Also, the other good alternative would be going for material with lower resistance - like copper.
How to Boost Transformer Efficiency
It is important to keep transformers safe from overheating and insulation failures. This can be done by establishing excellent cooling systems that can handle the heat generated due to energy loss.
Here are two ways to provide proper cooling to transformers:
Air cooling: For dry-type transformers, fans can be used for cooling and improving air flow.
Oil cooling: This method absorbs heat and transfers it into the surrounding by circulating oil around the core and windings.
Solar transformers often include special winding configurations with enhanced cooling systems to minimize both iron and copper losses, enhancing the transformer's efficiency.
The other way to increase transformer efficiency is through regular maintenance:
Oil analysis: Conduct regular oil analysis to monitor the health of the transformer’s insulation and cooling capabilities.
Thermographic scanning: Employ infrared cameras to determine overheating and excessive losses early.

Run Lines With Me
Michael B Jordan
A/n:… I don’t know what this is for real y’all. I was just typing lmao it’s unedited as fuck per usual until I find somebody to help me out with that part but yeah so… enjoy…. or don’t idk IDK
Micheal B Jordan
Run Lines For Me
“Ouch.”
You rolled your eyes hard at the movie star.
“Well, if you stop movin’, I can get this last bit of hair,” you fussed, firmly holding his chin in your hands. “You’re not meant to be on your phone while getting a shave anyway, foo’.”
Like a child, he stuck his tongue out at you, and you did the same in return.
“Now hold still,” you commanded as you concentrated on your task.
It was one of those surreal moments; you were on the set of *Sinner’s*, in Michael B. Jordan’s trailer, making sure his face was free of all makeup products and that his goatee was perfectly lined for tomorrow.
It was a dream come true, really.
You were Ryan’s cousin. The two of you had always been super close; you were his favorite aunt’s only child, and he looked out for you while you followed him everywhere. As a result, he always hired you to be part of the makeup team for all of his films. You had gone to beauty and barbering school to become a licensed barber, cosmetologist, and aesthetician specializing in FX makeup. You loved enhancing people’s appearances in whatever way they saw fit. Skin care was just as important, so once you got into the film industry and started working on set, you made sure to pair the two; the removal process was just as essential as the application. You always went the extra mile, giving clients facials and whatever serum they needed at the end of the day. Growing up, there was no doubt in your mind that Ryan would become a big-time movie producer, director, and filmmaker. From the moment he showed interest, you supported him. Being a few years younger and looking up to him, you wanted to figure out how to be of service in achieving that. That’s where all those licenses came in. You wanted to be behind the scenes. Though you dabbled in theater a bit in middle and high school, you lived for the feeling of being behind the curtain and camera, putting it all together and seeing the vision come to life.
After five years of your cousin pitching this movie and waiting for it to get picked up, as soon as it was, you were called immediately. Needless to say, this wasn’t your first rodeo with Michael B. Jordan since as you worked on Fruitvale Station , Creed 1 & 2, and Black Panther. While you wouldn’t say you were friends, you’d definitely say it was more than just coworkers. More than associates as well. There had to be more than that, especially with the endless flirting you two had exchanged over the years.
In fact, it was no secret to Ryan that you wanted to jump the actor’s bones. You had a crush on him since you saw Hardball when you were kids. You were obsessed with him on The Wire, crying about it for a week when Wallace died. Being that Ryan was like an older brother to you, what did brothers do? Tease and bully you with love. Fast forward to Ryan shooting Fruitvale Station, and the role of Oscar Grant going to none other than your childhood movie crush, Michael B. Jordan.
Not only was it your first time working on a movie set, but you were actually going to work with Michael B. Jordan. Anyone would be nervous, and you were no exception. Ryan teased you about it endlessly. You had gotten your introduction to the movie star and were assigned as his makeup artist for *Fruitvale*. Given the gravity of the situation and the kind of movie it was, you didn’t talk to him too much, trying not to be a bother. You figured it was hard being a young black man playing a character who was unjustly killed in real life. You wanted to ensure everything remained professional and that he was comfortable.
It wasn’t until *Creed* that you really got to know him better, and good Lord, had the man filled out. That little kid crush on the boy on the screen had transformed into a full-grown woman’s yearning, and every day on set, you were fighting for your life, trying to remain professional. Not stare too long, not make things awkward. You wanted him to feel comfortable with you, a level of normalcy like you wanted all your clients to feel. You didn’t want to make things weird.
Michael noticed your efforts too. He appreciated it. It was why he always made sure to speak to you every day, learn your name, and ask how you were doing. He included you in conversations when you were around, making sure you didn’t feel like just ‘hired help.’ Not to mention, you were fine as hell—thick thighs, soft-looking skin that always seemed to have this glow and warmth to it. He liked the way your clothes hugged your shape in all the right places, how luscious your lips looked covered in a simple gloss, paired with a light beat on your face. Michael was also a sucker for nice lashes, and the way you peered through them to look at him, looking all innocent, did something to him.
The crush was definitely mutual.
Even Zinzi was in on it. You remembered a month before the table read, you were on FaceTime, and she swore she saw something between the two of you.
“You grown grown now; I need you to act like it, baby,” Zinzi stated matter-of-factly.
Sis had been encouraging you to shoot your shot for the third or fourth time in the past month.
“I am grown, bitch! I just don’t wanna embarrass myself and lose my job,” came your lame excuse.
“PUHLEASE. As if your cousin would ever cut you loose. We both know what's up. The man personally asked Ryan if you were gonna be there.”
“Says your plotting ass husband,” you mumbled, knowing setting you up for failure would be a prank he’d pull.
“He didn’t have to tell me, baby; I was there,” she smirked at you, crossing her arms in a ‘now what’ manner.
Another time you and she had a similar conversation was about a month ago before the table reads started.
“Heard you was making googly eyes at ya man yesterday.”
“Who said tha- you’re gonna be widow soon.” You huffed rolling your eyes extra hard. “Yall are hella annoyin’”
“Uh huh whatever.” Zinzi leaned back a little bit rubbing her belly as she spoke. “I’m tryna help you get your shit together before you see that man. Hearin’ a nigga say ‘I wanna taste you’ will have you foldin’ quicker. Speaking from personal experience—”
“Ewwwww! I don’t wanna hear nothin’ about what you and my cousin are doing,” you fake-gagged.
“Whateva.”
“Ay, ay, ay, worry less about what me and my lady are doing and get your man, cousin.” Ryan chimed in appearing in front of the camera.
“HE’S BEEN THERE LISTENING THE WHOLE TIME, ZINZI?!”
Fast forward to now, just a few weeks later. Here you were in Michaels trailer. You had removed his make up and did your own person after care face routine that you did on all your clients and were just about finished lining up his goatees.
“All done. How you feel?” You asked taking a step back handing him a mirror.
“Lighter that’s fasho.” He nodded checking his hair and everything okay.
“I bet. Sucks we’re gonna have to put it back on in like 8 hours.”
“Man don’t remind me.” He sighed handed you the mirror back.
“You getting a treatment and stuff tonight too or?”
“Nah, we can do it tomorrow if you don’t mind. Tryna get in the right frame of mind for these next few days of filming.” He answered do which you nodded.
“I feel you.”
There was a comfortable silence between the two of you as you cleaned up and pack all the make up and others products up for the night, Michael tapping away at his phone screen. There’s a place for everything and everything has its place.
“Aye Run some lines with me real quick.” Michael called out to you.
You turned raising your eyebrow at him. It was a statement not a question.
“You’ve got to be kiddin’ me.” You groaned throwing your head back a bit.
“C’mon girl, help a brotha out.” He plead going over to a backpack on the table to the side of yall and pulling out a few stacks of paper.
“You just tryna hold me hostage. Keep me to ya self and shit” you said playfully peering at him through the mirror, finding his eyes already on you.
“I might be.” He smirked the gold ones still in his mouth from filming earlier gleaming.
You could fold right then and there.
“You got me for 30 minutes.” You mumbled snatching the script from him.
“My girl!” He claimed victory smiling at you fully now, you playfully rolling your eyes smiling a bit back.
“Ahem, so what scene?” You asked putting some distance between you a bit.
“The one we shooting tomorrow.”
The past 3-4 days had been spent shooting all of the day time scenes with him playing as Stack, Smoke being played by his double. Tomorrow they’d start shooting all the scenes with Michael as Smoke. Specifically the ones with him and Wunmi.
“You nerves bout it or somethin?” Came your simple ask out of genuine curiosity flipping through the scripts pages.
“Nah, I just spent the past few days playing Stack. Smoke vibe a little different. Wanna make sure I’m locked in and shit” he answered honestly.
“I feel you”
“Mmhmm, here.” he flipped to the right page.
Of course he wanted to start right before their sex scene. You took a deep breath reminding yourself that you were doing this just to help him out before you two got started. You were doing fine, too, reading the lines to him.
All was good until you go to to the the line where Annie threatened to cut Smoke with an idle threat.
You laughed a bit and Michael couldn’t help but grin as you did so.
“I’m sorry, I just know I sound stupid.”
“Nah, you good.” He assured you. Laughing or breaking character happened all the time. That’s what takes are for. Besides yall were just practicing.” You gotta stop reading like it’s a book. Get in character and shit. Ryan told me all about them plays and shit you used to be in growing up.”
“You lie.” You were mortified.
“Dorthy in the Wiz ain’t neva looked that good. Just be fine ya whole life huh?” Michael flirted licking his lips at you.
“Nigga!” You you swatted at him with the script in hand before covering your face with it in embarrassment as he laughed at your expense.
You were gonna kill your cousin.
“I’m just sayin,” Michael continued when his laughed died down, amusement in his voice. “might not be yo passion like that no more but you still know wassup.”
You nodded in agreement while he pushed the papers hiding your face out of it so he could see you clearly.
“Sooooooo. You gon be my Annie or what?”
“Ok.” You breathed out.
“That’s what I’m talking bout it.” He clapped loudly 3 times tryna pump you up.
“We picking up where we left off?”
“Yeah,” you confirmed putting the papers down.
“Oh shit you don’t need the script?” His tone was teasing but you could hear the surprise in his voice.
“Nah i think I got it.”
You had read the script a few times, Ryan sending it to you when he had first completed it a while back and again when he tweaked a few things right before production began. Not to mention you had been a round for a few table reads and a run through or two. If you were being completely honest, that was one of your favorite scenes especially once Michael was officially cast. Rereading it over and over again like the rest of the books you had that were full of filth it was all the more fun imagining him as ‘Smoke’. Now here the two of you were, and he was asking you to play with him.
“Aight then bet, count me in.”
Soon as you got to three he took a deep breath and then read the last line out loud.
“I can’t believe you takin this make believe bullshit” Michael spoke, country accent for ‘Smoke’ turned on,
“Smoke you give me my money fo I cut yo black ass.” You held up one of your make up brushes to his neck as a prop.
With a ghost of a smirk on his face he continued “You gon put the blade up woman,” he demanded staying in character, before holding up a 100. “I’ll trade you”
“I don’t want your money.” You sneered.
“Don’t be stupid”
“I ain’t stupid it, Your money come with blood
“All money come with blood.”
“Not like yours.” You snapped.
You were feeling it, he could tell by the look in your eye and that recollection made his heart do things.
This wasn’t the first time he asked you to run lines with. He was having a hard time admitting it but he had been feeling you for a while. He just didn’t wanna step on any toes you being related to the man who hired him for the job. At least in the beginning. After that it was all just bad time you. Either you were taken or he was but it didn’t change the fact that he liked you for a while. You know what they say right person wrong time.
Now though, now was the perfect time though. Especially since you were both single and had a bit more alone time than before.
“Why it ain’t work on our baby then?”
“I don’t know…but they work for you.” You paused. “You still got that mojo bag.”
Funnily enough he did have it on. He had put it on early when him and Percy were foolin’ around joking bout trading places. They traded hats and upon seeing the mojo bag on one of the prop tables near by, he put it on before they posed for some behind the pics before they continued to shoot the shit.
Slowly you reached out to touch it, and his hand shortly followed. Neither of you looked away as you removed it his hand lingering on yours as you pulled away. . Turning around you remained in character and proceeded to ‘pray over it for a few moments out loud while mentally praying for yourself. You didn’t dare make eye contact through the mirror as you placed the necklace on the counter in front of you trying to steady your heart. It increased as you felt Michaels presence heavy behind you, body damn near pressed against your.
Be a big girl bitch, you stated mentally.
“Why you here Smoke?” You breathed out as you turned back around, bracing your hands on the counter behind him. “ what you want from me?”
There were a several ways Michael wanted to answer that question.
He wanted you wrapped around him.
He wanted you bouncing on his dick screaming his name.
He wanted to fuck yo fine ass until you were dumb, numb, and your pussy was dripping with his cum.
Wanted to devour you
Suck ya soul right out ya body
He wanted you for himself
He wanted you to be his.
Michael didn’t bother to hide the lust that flickered in his eyes as he looked at you, unconsciously licking his lips. Your gaze zeroed in on his actions, and you instinctively squeezed your thighs tight together, feeling a rush of heat course through you.
His nostrils flared slightly when he noticed your reaction, but he remained silent, a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth. “Grand opening for the juke tonight. Want you to cook for us.”
“Elijah,” you tilted your head, feigning innocence, knowing exactly what he was implying.
“You gonna make me say it?” he challenged, his voice low and teasing.
You stayed quiet, just as you were meant to, as he took a step back and settled into a chair, his eyes never leaving you.
“Still hurts coming back here, but I love ya. And I miss ya,” he confessed, his voice tinged with something deeper, something you wished was meant for you.
You knew he wasn’t speaking directly to you, but the longing in your chest was undeniable. Your body was on fire, and the crazy part was that he hadn’t even touched you yet. But you could feel the tension simmering beneath the surface; he wanted to, and you could sense it.
As the air shifted, you instinctively knew what was supposed to happen next in the script. Taking his face in your hands, you leaned in, your lips brushing against his for just a moment before planting a chaste kiss near his mouth. Another kiss landed softly on his cheek, and you continued to leave a trail of kisses down the side of his neck. With one hand, you pulled his head back for more access, massaging his scalp as you did so. Nipping at a spot on his neck, you swirled your tongue around it, sucking gently, earning an almost inaudible “fuck” from him.
“Your body ain’t forgotten me,” you whispered, your breath hot against his skin as your right hand slid down to palm him through his sweats.
That was the tipping point. Methodically, his hand traced up your body, wrapping around your throat as he stood, bringing your face closer to his. When his lips finally met yours, he groaned like a man starved, savoring the taste he had been yearning for. Your arms wrapped around his neck, pulling him closer as the kiss deepened, a dance of passion igniting between you.
Standing up he pulled your body flush against his, his hands exploring your curves, leaving an indescribable heat in their wake. With a swift motion, his hands hooked behind your knees, grinding into you as he effortlessly set you on the table you had been working on just an hour ago.
Both of you were tired of pretending that you didn’t want each other. It showed in the way you tore each other’s shirts off, the way he shoved his tongue into your mouth, and the way you pulled him closer, wrapping your legs around his waist. You ground into him, desperate to create friction to satisfy the relentless ache in your core, the bulge in his pants straining against the fabric of just jeans, ready to burst through with how hard you had him. Michael wasted no time pulling the chair closer, sliding your pants down and throwing your legs over his shoulder and as you watched pupils blown wide with lust.
The heat between you was palpable, a fire igniting in the space around you. You could feel the urgency in his touch, the way his fingers dug into your thighs, holding you steady as he continued his ministrations. Each flick of his tongue sent shockwaves through your body, and every breath you took was laced with desperation.
“Michael,” you breathed, lost in the moment, “I need you.”
His darkened lust filled eyes found yours as he pulled away for just a moment, letting the anticipation build. “You want me?” he asked, voice low and sultry, making your heart race.
“Yes,” you whispered, your voice barely audible but full of longing. “Please.”
He wasted no time, standing up and positioning himself between your legs once more, the heat of his body radiating against yours. You watched as he dropped his gray sweats to the ground freeing his member that was nice, thick, and hard precum oozing a bit from the tip. You could see the desire etched on his face, a mirror to the yearning that consumed you both. You were done pretending; this was your moment, and you were ready to seize it.
Turning around you bent over slightly, gazing at him through the mirror, your bottom lip caught between your teeth in anticipation. He lined himself up with your entrance, eyes locked onto yours as he slid in, his thick tip greedily welcomed into your core. You pushed your ass out to meet his thrust, eager for him to fill you completely.
“Damn, you’re wet as fuck,” he marveled, pulling out just enough to watch how you coated him, glistening with your desire.
You could only hum in response as he pushed back in, stretching you wider than before. “You good?” he asked, massaging your lower back while thrusting slowly, giving you time to adjust to the overwhelming sensation of him filling you.
“Mmhmm,” you managed to reply, lost in the pleasure.
“Good.”
With that, Michael picked up his pace, his relentless hips pounding into you from behind. One of your hands braced against the counter, while the other reached back to grip his wrist for support as he delivered delicious back shots, each one sending waves of pleasure coursing through you.
“Smoke—” The name caught in your throat as he pulled your head back by your hair, a possessive gesture that sent shivers down your spine.
“Uh uh, my name, baby,” he purred against the shell of your ear, his breath hot and filthy as he continued his assault on your pussy.
This was no longer just an act; he wanted you to know this was all him.
“Michael, oh my fuck,” you whimpered, your walls tightening around him as he found that sweet spot deep inside you.
“Right there?!” he grinned through the mirror, and you nodded, panting wordlessly, feeling your eyes roll back in ecstasy.
“Words, mama.”
“Yes, Michael!” Your hands gripped the counter tighter as you began to throw it back, desperate to ensure he felt you just as intensely as you felt him.
“Fuck.” He growled, keeping up the pace, your pussy feeling warmer and wetter with each thrust. He loved the way you felt wrapped around him, watched the way your breasts bounced, your mouth slightly ajar, eyebrows furrowed, eyes fluttering as you tried to keep them from rolling back.
He was utterly captivated, relishing the faces you made while he pleased you, as if you were made for this very moment.
“Michael,” you moaned, the sound music to his ears. “I’m about to cum, baby.” Your abs began to clench, your body preparing to release.
With a swift motion, he pulled out, turning you around and placing you on the counter, your ass hanging off slightly. You were furious, to say the least. So close to climaxing, only for him to cut you off just before your peak. You huffed, frustrated, as you tried to catch your breath.
“Michael, what the—” you gasped, throwing your head back as you felt his tongue delve between your folds. “FUCK!”
He did it again, groaning as he did so, taking your throbbing bud into his mouth, swirling his tongue around it before pulling back, a string of saliva connecting the two of you, both looking like he was starved for your sweetness.
With a sudden slap to your pussy, he pulled another moan from you that satisfied his sadistic desires.
“You can cum on my dick later,” he mumbled, giving your dripping cunt a teasing peck as you whimpered, legs shaking slightly. He looked up at you, a grin on his face, his mouth glistening with your slick, hands rubbing and gripping your inner thigh.
“First time I make you cum, I want it to be in my mouth”

Everything that lies in your childhood bedroom has purpose.
Little trinkets line your drawer: an old worn stuffed calico cat given to you on your birthday some years ago, unfinished books with handmade bookmarks stuck somewhere between the middle and the end, trays full of sea glasses collected from beach trips—the list goes on, and that was only one corner of your beloved room.
There are posters of your favorite artists fighting for space across the wall closest to your bed. You’d run your fingers over all the cardstock a careless number of times, feeling the roughened edges of a band you’d practically seen shoot to stardom placed right next to the signage of an artist you’d only gotten into last year. Countless memories, all fond, laid bare in a place that watched you transform into the person you are today.
And of course, to top it all off, Choi Seungcheol sprawls across your bed as if he’s the substitute for your favorite nighttime comforter.
The sight of him, all clunky and awkward on your sheets, almost makes you laugh. Almost.
Because what he says to snap you out of your thoughts, frankly, kills any sort of laughter that springs alive in your throat.
“You didn’t tell me you were going abroad.”
In all your years of knowing Choi Seungcheol, you’ve never heard him so… betrayed. Sure, there were the times you’d cheekily cheat in a game of cards, or run to tag him on the playground only to scream for the game to end when he was about to get you back.
But this? This wasn’t a wound you could fix with a popsicle from the market down the street.
“I got a scholarship in the States,” you manage to croak out, fiddling with the drawstrings of your hoodie. “Cheol, I—”
“You didn’t tell me.” Seungcheol says—accuses—again. “I thought you were going to Seoul University. I watched you submit your application. We opened the acceptance letter. What happened to that?”
We opened the acceptance letter. We. You swallow back the lump in your throat. “My parents—” “I’m debuting soon, and you’re leaving?”
You wince.
The letter that has forever cursed your relationship with Seungcheol sits pretty on your desk, its envelope torn neatly with the paper-cutter you use to scrapbook. The stark white color mocks you from where you’re perched against your drawer, arms now crossed tightly across your chest.
“Seungcheol,” you inhale sharply. “I have my reasons for not telling you, you know.” This seems to shut him up. Your childhood best friend shifts upright on your cushioned plushies. You exhale deeply, trying to steady your breath before continuing.
“I didn’t want you to try to argue with me.” Seungcheol opens his mouth to protest, but you’re quick to cut him off with a glare. “I know you, Cheol. You’d either fight me tooth and nail to stay here with you, or you’d wreak havoc trying to follow me across the world. And I didn’t want to worry you by giving you that choice. I knew what I was doing when I submitted my application to the States.”
He stands up so fast you jump, startled, your back hitting the wall with a soft thud. Seungcheol’s thick, raven black hair goes messy from the frazzled way he begins to run his hands through it.
“Did you?” he asks all of a sudden.
You blink. “Did I what?”
“Did you know what you were doing?” Seungcheol’s lips are a tight line, and you itch to reach out to smooth the crease that’s beginning to form between his eyebrows. “When you chose to leave, did you know what you were doing?”
“Don’t say that. You’re putting words in my mouth.” Your back straightens, fingers trembling at your sides. “See, this is what I meant when I said I didn’t want to let you know. God, I should have never even thought of bringing it up to you. I should have just let everything play out. At least then we would have at least had a chance of being on good terms.”
“Does it even matter when in the end you’re just going to leave me behind?”
Something snaps in you. “You are not mine to leave behind!”
The shout echoes throughout your bedroom. It’s silent, before thundering steps can be heard outside your door and an urgent knocking begins.
“Come in,” you murmur, lowering the hands you’ve raised to tug on your hair.
A creak, and your younger sister’s head pops in, eyes wide with alarm. “Mama’s asking what’s going on. Why’re you two shouting?”
Seungcheol’s gaze has the nerve to soften at the sight of the little one. You turn away from the door, gulping with shame, while he goes to comfort the girl. “Hey Haeun, it’s okay. We’re just playing a game and got a little carried away, yeah?”
She nods, mesmerized by his soothing voice—a look and feeling you know all too well. “Okay! Can I join?”
“Haeun, not right now,” you sigh. “It’s—...we’ll be down soon, ‘kay? Just go tell Mama everything is okay.”
“Okay!”
When she leaves, you’re left with an achingly big stretch of silence, one so loud it almost has you covering your ears. You begin to trace the outline of Seungcheol’s hand that has started to rub circles into his shoulder. His eyes are shut, mouth drawn closed, and you wonder if there’s ever going to be a chance to rebuild what just collapsed.
“Seungcheol,” you finally say.
He hums, noncommittal, and a part of you shatters.
“I… I also didn’t tell you because—”
“No, it’s okay.” The finality of his words slam into you, breaking what hasn’t already been fragmented. “I don’t… I don’t think I need to know. I think I already know enough, even without you telling me.”
Seungcheol’s shoulder just barely brushes yours when he walks past you to your bedroom door, glancing back just once. His eyes dart around like he’s trying to memorize the living space of someone who’s already dead.
“Reach out if you need.”
And he’s gone.
You sink to the floor, burying your face in your hands and taking a shaky inhale.
I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want to lose you before I left.
I didn’t tell you because I still want you.
I didn’t tell you because I love you.
The next time you see Choi Seungcheol, it’s against your will.
And you’re not even exactly sure if it… is him.
“Seungcheol!” your mother chirps from behind you; she elbows past, nudging you with a soft, behave, won’t you? “It’s been so long, honey. Come in, come in! You must have so much to tell us.”
The man steps into your foyer, bowing gratefully. His mop of blueberry hair falls forward into his eyes, and when he raises his head, those big brown eyes from before stare back at you—except this time, it’s different.
You can’t read them anymore.
The living room is full of noise, congratulations being passed around from the idol’s recent successful album hitting the top charts. Drinks are soon being poured, and questions flow from the mouths of your family, eagerly soaking up the warmth he brings to your maple-wood coffee table.
You, on the other hand, sit as mute as a quail, holding onto your mug of tea for dear life. Words barely register in your brain; you miss Seungcheol’s lingering gaze on your every so often between stories. Those unreadable eyes follow you as you excuse yourself to go upstairs, and this time you feel them scraping along your back, leaving figurative lines of blood down your skin as you bolt up to your bedroom.
It takes approximately 143 seconds for that familiar rapport to sound at your door.
A resounding knock, followed by three short ones in succession; you could recognize your childhood passcode simply from the vibration that your door gives off when Seungcheol would knock. For some reason—and you’d always make fun of him for it when you were younger—he would always put so much intent into his rhythms, tapping his knuckles with such purpose that it leaves you no other choice but to open the door for him.
Maybe that’s why he lies in your bedroom now, almost seven years later.
You two wordlessly sit on the rug in the middle of the room, him leaning against the footing of your bed and you against the drawers of your wardrobe. You pick at the blue fuzz, scrutinizing the nail polish that stained the fabric some years back.
He, of course, speaks first.
“You didn’t change anything.”
Seungcheol’s eyes are looking at you and you want to hide. You know your hair’s the same color; know you’re still wearing the same style of clothing that’s been most comfortable for you all these years. Sure, the States gave you a place to experiment and therefore become more confident in your own skin, but coming back to Korea had you easily reverting back to old habits.
Like easy banter with Choi Seungcheol.
“Couldn’t say the same for you,” you retort. “Never thought I’d see such a deep shade of blue in someone’s hair. ‘Specially you.”
“It looks good, doesn’t it?” He grins cheekily, and you almost want to laugh from the sheer confidence he’s accumulated over time.
Almost.
“How long are you here for?” you ask simply.
Seungcheol exhales. Squints up at the ceiling for a second.
“As long as you want me to be here for,” comes his simple answer.
You’re already shaking your head—no, no, no. “Seungcheol, don’t—you can’t just say that after what happened between us.”
“And pray, do tell,” he raises an eyebrow. “What happened between us?”
“I left for the States and you debuted,” you sputter back. “We—it’s been—I haven’t talked to you in years, and here you are, waltzing back into my bedroom like you own the place. Why are you here? Why aren’t you gone?”
Choi Seungcheol says your name and your lips press together in a whimper. It’s never sounded so vulnerable before, your name; so delicate and fragile to him, like he’s wishing upon a star.
“I waited for you to reach out to me, you know,” he mumbles. “Thought some time and space would help. You never did, though.”
“I’m sorry,” you blurt out. “I was young, and stupid—I didn’t know how to pick up after my mistakes. Still don’t know how to. I’m sorry.”
Your body seems to be betraying you, because before you know it, there are tears freely flowing down your cheeks; and for some reason, you can’t stop goddamn babbling.
“I didn’t want to tell you because I was afraid of you leaving before I could. I didn’t want to tell you because I didn’t know how to without falling apart. I’m sorry. I’m sorry for not telling you. I’m sorry for loving you. I—I think if I loved you any less we would still be best friends.”
Up until now you thought this Seungcheol was an imposter; someone who invaded your home by dressing up in that old beat-up hoodie he loved when he was younger and those dumb sweatpants you got ice cream on one time in high school. But now, being pulled into his embrace, it's like you’re back in your last year of primary school all over again, crying over getting accepted into Seoul University. Back before things changed. Before things and Seungcheol and everything but you changed.
“It’s okay,” is all he says, and that’s all you need. “It’s okay. We’re okay. We’ve always been okay.”
“No we haven’t,” you sob weakly into his chest. “Seungcheol, I’ve ruined everything, haven’t I? Our lives, they’re ruined.”
“What do you mean?” He laughs softly. “Our lives have literally just begun. Y’know, there’s so much to tell you, and even more to experience with you moving forward. Don’t you think so?”
His words stir something inside of you. A wave of serenity washes over you, and you savor each minute, each second with it. You want to berate him, asking him how he got so mature in so little time. You also want to kiss him, toppling over into his arms and never letting go until the day you die.
Instead, you opt for a small sigh. One that you know Seungcheol picks up on and understands the meaning of.
“Catch me up, then,” you pout, settling into his arms with a newfound acceptance. “You at least owe me that much.”
He laughs, and the sound rivals any lyrics you’ve heard him sing in the past—it’s warm, strong and true. All things Choi Seungcheol.
“Alright,” he relents teasingly. “Now, where should I begin…”

"In drought-stricken areas, communities facing water shortages, or even in residential and commercial buildings eager to improve their environmental footprints, atmospheric water generators represent a new frontier in water production.
While it might sound like a tidbit from a science fiction movie, even the driest places on earth have moisture in the air that can be extracted and used for everyday necessities like plumbing and drinking.
Unlike traditional dehumidifiers, which also pull moisture from the air, AWGs utilize filtration and sterilization technology to make water safe to drink.
And while there are plenty of AWG companies out there — and the science itself isn’t novel — AWGs are becoming more efficient, affordable, and revolutionary in combating water scarcity in a myriad of communities.
Aquaria Technologies, a San Francisco-based AWG startup, was founded in 2022 to help provide affordable and clean drinking water in areas most affected by climate change.
Using heat exchange and condensation, Aquaria’s generators draw air into their systems, cool that air below its dew point, and as it condenses, capture that water and filter it for consumption.
As the cycle continues, the generator’s refrigerant vaporizes and goes through a process that cools it back into a liquid, meaning the heat transfer cycle repeats continuously in an energy-efficient and self-sustaining system.
“I’m sure you’ve had the experience in the summer, you take a glass of a cold drink out of the fridge and then water droplets form on the side of the bottle,” Aquaria’s co-founder and CEO Brian Sheng, said in a podcast episode. “That’s actually condensation.”
Sheng continued: “The question is, how do we create condensation? How do we extract water out of the air in large volume and using little energy? That’s what our technology does. We have created both active and passive cooling methods where we use special materials, and we’ve created heat exchange and recovery systems and airflow design, such that we’re maximizing heat exchange, and then we’re able to extract large volumes of water.”
Aquaria has created a number of generators, but its stand-alone model — the Hydropack X — can replace an entire home’s dependence on municipal water, producing as much as 264 gallons of potable water per day.
Other models, like the Hydrostation, can provide water for up to 1,500 people at parks, construction sites, or other outdoor public areas. The Hydropixel can make 24 gallons of water per day for a seamless at-home application, requiring a simple outlet for power.
“Atmospheric water generators present a groundbreaking solution to the global challenge of clean water scarcity, leveraging the humidity present in the air to produce potable water,” the company’s website explains.
“This technology is versatile, functioning efficiently across diverse climates — from arid regions to tropical settings. From rural communities in developing countries to advanced cities facing unexpected droughts, atmospheric water generators have a wide range of applications… transforming lives and providing secure, clean water sources.”
Considering an estimated 2.2 billion people lack access to clean water globally — including in American cities like Flint, Michigan, or Modesto, California — innovative solutions like AWGs are vital to maintaining the basic human right to clean water.
The World Economic Forum has begun to dip its toes into this technology as well, implementing public and private partnerships to introduce AWG units in Arizona’s Navajo Nation, where the machines produce about 200 gallons of clean water per day.
“When combined with an appropriate level of community engagement and triple-bottom-line business (people, planet, profit),” a blog post for WE Forum said, “this model can be a powerful stopgap solution where few exist today.”
Similarly, according to New Atlas, Aquaria has a partnership with developers to supply its technology to a 1,000-home community in Hawaii later this year, relying entirely on atmospherically generated water.
The company also has a “Frontier Access Program,” which partners with water-related NGOs, community project developers, and sustainable development groups to deploy this technology in areas most in need.
Regardless of their use cases — in homes, in communities facing water shortages, or at aid sites navigating natural disasters — AWGs have a minimal environmental impact. Sourcing water “from thin air,” requires no plastic bottles, no large-scale plants using up loads of energy, and no byproducts that can harm the environment."

My Gold Standard List for Polin FanFiction:
My Dearest, Penelope: Although Colin sends letters like clockwork, he receives no reply from his friend, Penelope Featherington. Is this what it feels like to lose one's mind?
The Gentlemen's Wager: After his careless words ruined Penelope's prospects on the marriage mart, Colin is determined to do everything he can to restore her reputation and to find her a good match, even if it means pretending to court his best friend. However, outside forces with a grudge against the Bridgertons inadvertently transforms a wallflower into the most coveted prize of the London Season of 1815.
An Agreement: Every Monday (and on special occasions) Penelope took her husband to bed. It was an agreement, after a year of marriage, that they would finally explore each other for the sake of having a child. It did not mean anything, not at all.
Making It Up As We Go Along: Penelope swears that she will make it Aubrey Hall if it kills her. The universe takes up her challenge. Sans carriage and caught in the worst storm that has struck England in living memory, Penelope bumps into a familiar face on the road (what a mystery who could it possibly be!). Their only hope of a shelter in the storm requires a degree of... creative... application of the truth and Penelope finds herself wondering how a young lady is to comport herself when the bounds of propriety have been all but swept away. Enter Colin, who has a suggestion or two.
Cruel & Unusual: A Tale of Personal Growth: Penelope Featherington is officially over Colin Bridgerton. Deservedly so. She’d worked tirelessly over the last twelve months to move on from him. She’d listened to Lizzo on repeat, read every self-help book under the sun, been to therapy, and even changed the plot of her novel from a coming-of-age romance to a zombie thriller in a world devoid of men. In fact, she was seeing someone, not exclusively, but it was certainly heading in that direction. She’d done everything in her power to move on from her stupid, heart-wrenching, soul-destroying crush. Everything short of having a lobotomy. Which was why it was a tad concerning that she’d just shagged him.
Dr Bridgerton; or With his educated eyes, and his hand between my thighs: There lay in Penelope a sickness, or so she had been told. A very specific kind that only this physician, as he called himself, could potentially be willing to alleviate for her, if there were any hope at all. At least that was what the flyer had said. A gentleman by the name of Mr Bridgerton had developed a technique of stimulatory effect to relieve the sufferings of women. Of sharp tongues and short tempers gone in a few months or less, within three sessions with his special apparatus.
Dance Card: Penelope never expected to spend her first season with the Bridgertons. And Colin never expected that the young debutant would capture his heart, one dance at a time.
i'll use you as a warning sign: The words on his body sound like Lady Whistledown. His soulmate - the person meant to capture his body and heart, his partner and love of his life - ruins lives. Perhaps it makes sense that she’s already ruined his.
The Temptation of one Penelope Featherington...: Colin would like nothing more than to teach his dearest friend the true art that could be found in a game of pall mall, although he only wished he could do so without the help of the peanut gallery and all their meaningful 'looks'. Penelope, for her part, is determined that a slight against Lady Whistledown will not go unchallenged setting her thoughts upon a most dangerous path. Pall mall, rain, and midnight trips to the library. What could possibly go wrong?!
All We Left Unsaid: In which Penelope resolves to keep her friendship with Colin perfectly proper, Colin attempts to truly know Penelope, and Eloise knows everything.
Ruin: “Perhaps you should take a seat,” said Violet. Colin wouldn't remember the details of what his mother told him next. He would remember her hand warm on his knee, her eyes wide with concern, her voice gentle as velvet. All of it in stark contrast to the devastating news she shared. Penelope was ruined.
one man's bungled nuptials are another man's dot dot dot: The Queen's plan to host the wedding of the season goes disastrously astray when her chosen Diamond flees from her Viscount husband-to-be at the alter and disappears from the Palace entirely. The Queen is incensed and more than a little desperate to save face, when an alternative match falls right into her lap. One misconstrued gesture and Colin and Penelope's lives are changed forever. But perhaps, in this one particular case, the Queen's matchmaking instincts cannot be faulted.
with the flutter of butterfly wings: Penelope woke up alone. Alone and in her childhood bedroom. For the third day in a row. Her hand slid down to her lower abdomen. The life that was supposed to be fluttering there did not exist yet and neither did the beautiful children that she had already given birth to. She had three days to accept that something had happened that had sent her back to just before her first season. She wished she had more time, but with having to wake up every day in the wrong house, the wrong bed, without her husband and children—Penelope had to accept that her current present was her new reality. No matter how often she cried every morning, hours before Rae came to get her ready for the day.
Only You: After a heated argument leaves their friendship in tatters, Penelope and Colin wake to find the entirety of London abandoned. What follows is a journey of survival and self-discovery, each of them forced to confront their greatest fears, insecurities and grief in order to find their way back to each other and discover all the beauty this new world has to offer.
Love You With My Past & for My Future: Happily married Colin time travels back to Season 1, Episode 2.
For God's sake, Penelope!: For the first time at a ball, free from the strict gaze of her mother, Penelope indulges in a bit more drink than usual. It doesn't take long for her to realize that as the liquor goes in, the truth comes out. Colin, concerned for his friend's reputation, does everything in his power to prevent her from getting involved in scandals. Yet, it seems that Penelope is determined to experience a chaotic night, filled with liquors.
a father's son: 12 yo colin choosing to immediately leave the family for eton after edmund's death & preferring staying there over the holidays bc everyone always told him he looked exactly like his dad & colin couldnt bear the pained look violet gave him whenever he reminded her of her husband
Odd Encounter: What if book! Polin and series! Polin got to have a nice little chat over some tea?
Secret Love Song: The night before Penelope marries Lord Debling, Colin leaves Mayfair, shutting his family and the world out. Five long and silent years later, Violet's sudden illness brings him home... back to London and the woman who never stopped loving him.
A Little More Convincing: What if Penelope refused Colin's proposal after the carriage incident? What if Penelope stood firm in her refusal and Colin had to work a little bit harder for that "yes" (An alternate take going from the end of Chapter 13 of Romancing Mr. Bridgerton. Book Canon with a few show shout-outs.)
(Lack) Luster: Everyone knew that the spinster lady of the Featherington barony had no intentions of marrying and similarly, no man had any intention of marrying her. So why, pray tell, was the newest Bridgerton bachelor chasing after her skirts like she was some pretty little chit?
The Gentleman: “Read it again Pen,” Colin said softly. She looked back at him, eyes wide and blinking, biting her lower lip, drawing in his attention. Until today, not an impure thought had passed through his mind of Penelope. He suddenly felt like the wind was knocked out of him. His eyes snapped up to hers, her blue eyes wide and blinking rapidly. He wasn’t sure what to say. It felt like the air had changed around them. All he could think about was her in that moment. Touching her hair, caressing her cheeks, kissing her lips. He took a deep breath. He could not make sense of the impulses he was having, “please, read it again.” She swallowed, turned back to the page, and started reading it again. He listened to her sweet voice recite the words of Byron. Did she pick this poem on purpose? ‘How could she’ he reasoned, ‘she’s never seen this book, how would she know’. He was so lost in thought; he didn’t realize she had finished. He wasn’t ready for her to stop reading, what was the last part? She looked over at him again. Had she moved closer to him? Or was he leaning into her? “Again,” He said, wondering if she could hear him as it came out almost as a whisper.
#fics so good u can’t stop yapping about them#there are definitely a lot more good fanfiction I haven’t included#so more lists are coming?#polin#bridgerton#fic rec#colin x penelope#colin bridgerton#penelope featherington#mi yapping

hi there! im a fan of your page 💕
can you give me the best studying techniques?
hi angel!! @mythicalmarion tysm for asking about study techniques 🤍 i'm so excited to share my secret methods that helped me maintain perfect grades while still having a dreamy lifestyle + time for self-care!! and thank you for being a fan of my blog, it means everything to me. <3
~ ♡ my non-basic study secrets that actually work ♡ ~

(don't mind the number formatting)
the neural bridging technique this is literally my favorite discovery!! instead of traditional note-taking, i create what i call "neural bridges" between different subjects. for example, when studying both literature + history, i connect historical events with the literature written during that time. i use a special notebook divided into sections where each page has two columns - one for each subject. the connections help you understand both subjects deeper + create stronger memory patterns!!
here's how i do it:
example:
left column: historical event
right column: literary connection
middle: draw connecting lines + add small insights
bottom: write how they influenced each other
the shadow expert method this changed everything for me!! i pretend i'm going to be interviewed as an expert on the topic i'm studying. i create potential interview questions + prepare detailed answers. but here's the twist - i record myself answering these questions in three different ways:
basic explanation (like i'm talking to a friend)
detailed analysis (like i'm teaching a class)
complex discussion (like i'm at a conference)
this forces you to understand the topic from multiple angles + helps you explain concepts in different ways!!
the reverse engineering study system instead of starting with the basics, i begin with the most complex example i can find and work backwards to understand the fundamentals. for example, in calculus, i start with a complicated equation + break it down into smaller parts until i reach the basic concepts.
my process looks like:
find the hardest example in the textbook
list every concept needed to understand it
create a concept map working backwards
study each component separately
rebuild the complex example step by step
the sensory anchoring technique this is seriously game-changing!! i associate different types of information with specific sensory experiences:
theoretical concepts - study while standing
factual information - sitting at my desk
problem-solving - walking slowly
memorization - gentle swaying
review - lying down
your body literally creates muscle memory associated with different types of learning!!
the metacognition mapping strategy i created this method where i track my understanding using what i call "clarity scores":
level 1: can recognize it
level 2: can explain it simply
level 3: can teach it
level 4: can apply it to new situations
level 5: can connect it to other topics
i keep a spreadsheet tracking my clarity levels for each topic + focus my study time on moving everything to level 5!!
the information architecture method instead of linear notes, i create what i call "knowledge buildings":
foundation: basic principles
first floor: key concepts
second floor: applications
top floor: advanced ideas
roof: real-world connections
each "floor" must be solid before moving up + i review from top to bottom weekly!!
the cognitive stamina training this is my absolute secret weapon!! i use a special interval system based on brain wave patterns:
32 minutes of focused study
8 minutes of active recall
16 minutes of teaching the material to my plushies
4 minutes of complete rest
the specific timing helps maintain peak mental performance + prevents study fatigue!!
the synthesis spiral evolution this method literally transformed how i retain information:
create main concept spirals
add branch spirals for subtopics
connect related concepts with colored lines
review by tracing the spiral paths
add new connections each study session
your notes evolve into a beautiful web of knowledge that grows with your understanding!!
these methods might seem different from typical study advice, but they're based on how our brains actually process + store information!! i developed these through lots of research + personal experimentation, and they've helped me maintain perfect grades while still having time for self-care, hobbies + fun!!
sending you the biggest hug + all my good study vibes!! remember that effective studying is about working with your brain, not against it <3
p.s. if you try any of these methods, please let me know how they work for you!! i love hearing about your study journeys!!
xoxo, mindy 🤍

< masterlist >
bug bites were common among forest rangers. a special bug repellent was included in every pack, a black bottle with plain instructions. tighnari put effort into making it easy to apply and easier to understand, constantly finding new ways to promote its usage. if gone untreated, even small beestings can become serious. add onto it the fact that he was the one that inevitably had to treat them, and he had every motivation to ensure it was used. he made sure that spares were easily accessible, included demonstrations in training, and emphasized the importance of proper application before every patrol.
so why in teyvat did you keep getting bit?
every time, without fail, you returned from patrol scratching your wrist or ankle or wherever you inevitably got bit. and every time, he had to be the one to drag you to the medical hut. at least if you acknowledged the severity of the situation and brought your injuries to him on your own, that’d be understandable. he understood that the feeling of lotion wan’t bearable for everyone—he was in the process of transforming it into a mist to make it even easier—and he’d be happy to find ways to keep you inside if that was the case. there was no shortage of small chores to be done, and with collei now in full recovery, you could easily take her place.
but no. of course not. that would be too easy. his partner happened to be the most stubborn ranger on the squad, with the worst affinity for bugs he’d ever seen.
“how does this always happen to you?”
you shrug, pulling his mint plant off the shelf and beginning to tear off a few leaves. part of him is proud you at least know the proper treatment, though it’s quickly overshadowed by the angry swelling on your hand. he takes the leaves and nudges you toward the chair, searching his drawers for the rest of the poultice.
“how long ago did you get bit?”
“maybe half an hour.”
“half an-” he twisted open the tin with too much force, sighing. “and you didn’t come back immediately why?”
he can hear the smile in your voice. “it wasn’t that serious.”
“…what color was it?”
“yellow.”
“really?”
“and striped. probably a wasp.”
he didn’t know how you had the energy to be sassy, tearing the leaves into shreds and mixing it into the tin. your eyes were red with tears and you hissed when he spread the medicine over your wrist, clearly in pain. the area around your bite was hot to the touch, and he could feel his ears pull back in worry.
“why do you insist on going on patrol?” why do you insist on getting hurt?
“it’s not a big deal.” i don’t care about my pain.
“it is.” i do.
he wiped off his hands and grabbed a roll of bandages, wrapping your hand. your fingers flinched whenever he pulled it too tight. how could you insist on putting yourself at risk like this?
he taped down the end, holding your hand in his. “if it gets too itchy, come back to me, okay?” will you let me care for you?
“of course i will.” i’ll try.
he brought your hand to his, pressing a kiss to your knuckles.
maybe this time, you’d mean it.
rain was common in fontaine. gutters lined every road and fountains sprayed wherever there was enough room to put one. carved bricks channeled water out of the plazas, every inch of the city designed with rainfall in mind. steep roofs fell over wide awnings, thick greeting rugs in front of every building. when it rained, it poured, though no puddles lay in the streets. sharp lights cut through the dense fog hanging over ivory walls, lighting up the city even when the clouds blocked out the sun.
but the world did not come to a standstill merely because the weather asked it to. boots were sold covered in waterproof wax, many-layered skirts designed to flick off water in a single twirl. fashion was as beautiful as it was untouchable, the very idea of something being vulnerable to waterlog appalling and confusing. who would create such a thing? who would wear it without an umbrella? and, entirely separate from that: who would ever consider leaving the house without an umbrella?
umbrellas were as vital to fashion as they were to the ever-changing weather. they came in every color and shape, made to match every conceivable outfit one could wear. and if, by some miracle, you couldn’t find one that did, there were a plethora of boutiques offering custom embroidery. the steambird was eager to comment on the shifting designs across officials’ umbrellas, trends flowing in and out of their fashion column like the tide. everyone who worked in the court that had stepped outside on a rainy day—which was about as common as the sun rising—had their appearance meticulously documented; unless they refused being in the paper, of course, in which case other less-reputable sources picked up the story instead.
all were reported on, making the front page if not the headline. all, but one.
the iudex did not carry an umbrella. he also declined to entertain any questions as to why, merely stating that simple fact and moving on with his day. his hair clung to his face, even his suit darker with water. he walked down the less crowded roads so he wouldn’t bump into anybody, seeming entirely unbothered by the rain. sometimes he’d turn a palm toward the sky, as if checking that it was still there, and then continue on his way.
you always hated this habit of his. no matter how many times he insisted that he wouldn’t get sick, it was always worrying to open your door and find your lover soaked from head to toe. no water slips from him to your floors, not even from the soles of his boots, the click of his heels and your worried tone the only sound in the house. it was already late as it was, and there was no point to fuss about details at this hour.
“what happened?”
he shed his coat, suspended droplets hovering in the air around him. “the marechaussee phantom were called to mount automnequi; a melusine was badly injured by a rogue mek, and a fisherman had to pull her from the sea. i paid her a visit after work.”
that would explain things. he lets you wipe off his face, careful not to smudge the eyeliner that never seems to fade. already, the rain was beginning to let up, lightening from a downpour. rain in fontaine was as fickle as it was frequent…
“is she alright?”
“of course. the gardiennage provides excellent doctors.”
“then there’s no need to worry.” cupping his now-dry face in your hands, you pressed a quick kiss to his lips. “she’ll be back in her feet in no time.”
the slightest of smiles crossed his face, his hands keeping yours on him. outside, the skies were clearing, pale blue quickly streaming through the clouds.
perhaps umbrellas would fall out of fashion soon, if rains could cease before they truly had the chance to begin.

Bill Skarsgård’s transformation into the hideous-looking vampire Count Orlok for Robert Eggers’ “Nosferatu” was an arduous process — with the end goal of making the Swedish actor completely unrecognizable.
“I was not so interested in Bill’s features, aside from his eyes,” Eggers says of Skarsgård. “The things that make [Orlock] not just an intimidating, masculine human being, is the fact that he’s also decaying and dead. Even the design of the teeth needed to be something that could be fucked up.”
Oscar nominated makeup effects designer David White created over 62 prosthetic pieces that required a team of six to apply. Skarsgård was covered from head to toe, including elements for his tongue and eyes. Only the soles of his feet were untouched.
read the at the link or under the cut
The film reimagines F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent classic starring Max Schreck, whom Eggers wanted to reference when it came to Orlock’s look. One such detail was in Orlok’s hands and fingers. “I wanted to extend Bill’s fingers ever so slightly, and I [asked] David about creating something to push the envelope,” says Eggers.
In coming up with a concept for the hands and fingers, White had one that was quickly scrapped. “I was playing with the idea of soft mechanics to extend them, but they’re really long and they weren’t as dexterous,” he says. The idea was too cumbersome for something that had to be very sharp. Orlok also needed to hold things, open boxes and write letters.
White used a dense material so Skarsgård could feel things. It took a while to get to the final design, but in the end, the nails were a quarter of an inch longer on the tips. They were custom-made to be “gnarly and weathered,” White says. “‘Arthritic’ was a word we looked at, as well as having them slightly unusual in their angle.
“They’re not quite right, as if they’ve been used for so many years.”
In a nod to Schreck’s silhouette, Eggers also wanted Orlok to be hunchbacked. White built a one-piece prosthetic with a thick foam insert. “That took away the weight, otherwise, it would be 46 pounds of silicon,” White says. Breaking down the application, he adds, “The back goes on first, the front overlaps the back, but the rest is all in little sections across the arms and the legs. It’s between 18 to 25 different pieces of muscle which overlap. They were pre-painted and ready to go.”
Orlok’s full reveal comes when Ellen’s (Lily-Rose Depp) husband Thomas (Nicholas Hoult) heads to the crypt and finds the sarcophagus. Orlok is in a state of decay with intricate veining and coloring.
White made it darker on the underside because he’s been lying down, but his front is lighter and waxier.
Florin Lăzărescu, the film’s Romanian folklore consultant, was the inspiration for the blood-pooling color. Says Eggers, “He reminded me that the vampire is often described as being red-faced in Romanian folklore, which was a concept that was very intimidating to do. What David came up with was beautiful, and he did paint jobs where this guy was red as hell.”
White was tasked with creating full body prosthetics, including a penis. “It was a necessary piece to make,” he laughs. Eggers adds, “I was allowed one penis [for] this movie. He rises out of the coffin naked. That in itself is a bit of a phallic act, as is most of everything that Orlok does in the movie.”
Every detail of a decayed Orlok was considered, including a dead eye made possible with special contact lenses. “I even made a sock of a tongue that Bill could use in certain scenes, which was all gnarly and scored and black and horrible, you know. So poor Bill, he took it well,” White says.

EPOXYSHİNE - DRAGON+ (3)

Epoxy floor coating is not just a practical choice for enhancing the durability of your flooring; it's also a stylish solution that can transform any space. Whether you're a homeowner looking to revamp your garage or a business owner seeking reliable commercial flooring solutions, understanding the benefits of epoxy will help you make informed decisions. As you search for "floor polishing near me," consider how an expertly applied epoxy coating can elevate your interiors while providing a long-lasting finish.
Epoxy Floor Coating
Epoxy floor coating is a highly durable and resilient flooring solution that has gained popularity in both residential and commercial spaces. This type of coating is made from a combination of resin and hardener, creating a strong bond when applied to existing concrete surfaces. The result is a seamless surface that can withstand heavy foot traffic, chemicals, and abrasions.
One of the major benefits of epoxy floor coating is its versatility. It can be customized in various colors and finishes, including high-gloss and matte textures. This means that property owners can choose a look that complements their interior design while still providing the durability they require. Additionally, the smooth finish of epoxy makes it easy to clean and maintain, which is particularly advantageous in commercial settings.
Furthermore, the installation process for epoxy floor coating is relatively quick, often completed within a few days. However, it’s essential to hire professionals who have the expertise and equipment to ensure a flawless application. The right team will properly prepare the surface, allowing for optimal adhesion and longevity of the coating.

Commercial Flooring Solutions
Commercial flooring solutions are essential for businesses seeking to enhance their aesthetic appeal while also ensuring durability and functionality. The choice of flooring can greatly influence the overall atmosphere of a commercial space, leading to improved employee morale and customer satisfaction.
Among the various options available, epoxy floor coatings stand out due to their seamless finish and resistance to heavy foot traffic. These coatings not only provide a sleek look but also protect the underlying surface from wear and tear, making them ideal for warehouses, retail spaces, and industrial environments.
Moreover, businesses often explore additional options such as vinyl flooring, carpet tiles, and laminate surfaces to meet specific needs. Each of these materials offers unique advantages, allowing business owners to choose the most suitable flooring solution that aligns with their operational demands and aesthetic preferences.
Metallic Epoxy Floor
A metallic epoxy floor offers a stunning visual appeal that enhances the aesthetic of any space. The reflective properties of the metallic pigments create a unique look, resulting in a three-dimensional effect that can mimic a variety of surfaces, such as water, marble, or even molten metal. This type of flooring is especially popular in modern homes, showrooms, and commercial spaces, providing an eye-catching yet durable surface.
One of the significant advantages of a metallic epoxy floor is its durability. This flooring solution is resistant to stains, chemicals, and impacts, making it ideal for high-traffic areas. Additionally, it is easy to clean and maintain, which means that business owners and homeowners can save time and resources. The seamless nature of epoxy flooring also contributes to a hygienic environment, especially in spaces like hospitals or laboratories.
Installing a metallic epoxy floor can be a customized process, allowing property owners to choose their preferred colors and patterns. Whether you’re looking for a sleek, industrial look or a vibrant, artistic finish, this flooring solution can be tailored to meet your unique vision. By consulting with professionals, you can ensure that your metallic epoxy floor is installed correctly and maximizes its longevity and beauty.

Perhaps an example of a non-disability dynamic social relationship might throw light on the way the radical interpretation of disability works. ‘Parenthood’ indicates a particular social relationship. To be a mother (or read father in this context) you must be a female (male). However, being a female does not make you into a mother. Being a mother presupposes a female physique, but it is only a special relationship to another person (child) that transforms the person into a mother, as well as quite independently still remaining a female. This special relationship with a child captured in the identifier ‘mother’ is given substance by the social context in which it takes place. This context is historically determined, dynamic and changes over time with the ebb and flow of a society’s evolution. There was a time when cultural emphasis of the parenting relationship was so ingrained that you could not separate the personal attribute from the social status, for example, a person was not thought of as a ‘real’ female (male) until becoming a mother (father). Nowadays with the growth in single parent families, wage-earning parents unable to provide daytime child care and same sex partnerships, for example, many adults have to take on both mother and father roles from time to time. Clearly, the parenting relationship terms are undergoing further profound changes. Similarly, I see the modern meaning of disability in the UK as involving a unique dynamic relationship between people with certain personal attributes (impairments) and the particular social and physical environment in which they function. The socio-economic system at the same time, of course, defines the meaning of gender, race, class and so on. In the same way that the identity and attributes of being a mother (or father) in the parenting relationship are not applicable in every social situation (for example, at a place of employment), disability should always be interpreted dynamically within a particular social context.

Background Grian and Mumbo lived in a faraway land known for their hermit residents where they are renowned for their incredible talent for architecture and his incredibly complex contraptions respectively. Both of them where building some crazy structure and as always creating some cunning brain-teaser or practical joke to have a laugh while at it. Still, when one day they were about to make their usual pranks and almost detonated each other in the attempt, Grain and Mumbo heard a voice: “Your aid… needed… someone important… lost… will you aid us?” Thinking it was a prank from another Hermit known for his Scars and his fancy Top Hats they went along and accepted only to find themselves transformed and transported into a completely different world. Now they have a mission on hand: Retrieve a lost entity from far away that bestowed part of his powers upon them.

Quick world lore question; does the game ever specify what kind of potions/poisons exist in twst? Like, since it's technically a fantasy world, would things like health/stamina potions like you'd see in rpg's exist? Or would it be closer to reality, like home remedies and basic pharmaceutical stuff?
I'm only an EN player and I havent read all the pomfiore student's vignette's so if they answer this there then im sorry for the bother ; ;
Potions aren't talked about in the only Pomefiore students' vignettes! (In fact, if we're talking just strictly Labwear vignettes... Vil and Rook's don't really focus on potions at all; only Epel's sort of does.) There isn't actually a ton of lore about potions, and in the times when they do become relevant, the writing tends to focus more on the ingredients and/or the preparation process rather than what kind of potion would be produced. For example, the entire Labwear series of vignettes frequently brings up rare or dangerous plants that require the application of magic in order to safely harvest, such as the mandrake and the lantern blossom.
I wasn't able to check all vignettes (since that would be like... what, probably a few hundred at this point? If not that, then at least over 100), but there's definitely mentions of potions with various effects. From all lab vignettes alone and combing through the main story, here's what I could glean:
transformation/transmutation potions (prologue, book 2, Beans Day, book 6, etc; this is probably the most often mentioned type of potion)
voice-changing potions (Leona Labwear vignette)
color-changing potions (Epel Labwear voice line)
plant growth potions (Epel Labwear voice line)
sleeping potions (Silver Labwear vignette)
awakening potions (Silver Labwear vignette)
magic enhancing potions (book 2)
breathing underwater potions (book 3)
a potion that changes one part of your body to that of an animal's (book 3)
itch-relief potion (Lost in the Book with Stitch)
potion that heals burns instantly (Jamil Labwear vignette)
painkiller potion (book 5)
hair-lengthening potion (Wish Lantern)
potion that cures all throat and tongue diseases (Jade Bloom Broom vignette)
shrinking (for 30 seconds) potion (Beans Day)
On the subject of poisons, no specific kinds are mentioned as far as I'm aware. There's a Poison Refining class (Cater Labwear vignettes), but we don't really get specifics. When poisons are talked about, it's usually in reference to the Fairest Queen or the Pomefiore dorm leader being skilled in making potent poisons, or it's Kalim talking about the many attempts on his life and unnamed poison antidotes. There may be more mentioned in other places, but at this time I don't have the capacity to check every single event and vignette. If you know of any more that aren’t listed here, please let me know and I can update the list!!
It should also be noted that "potions" can also be used for other purposes. This includes creating special effects for movies (mentioned in Vil's Labwear vignettes) and enhancing the effects of skincare (book 6, Azul Ceremonial Robes, etc.).
You'll notice that the effects of these potions can also be achieved via regular spellcasting. (In fact, we see Adeuce practicing color changing magic in Floyd's Labwear vignettes + Vil using color changing magic to help himself hide from paparazzi, etc., Jack's/Malleus's/Azul's UMs also allow them to do things without the help of potions.) Because of this, I believe that potions are meant to be an alternative way of spellcasting without actually needing to use magic. This makes already prepared potions usable by mages who don't want to expend energy/build blot as well as by NON-MAGES.
Within the world of TWST, there is an occupation known as the “medical mage”, who appear to combine magic and medicine into their practice. Furthermore, what is called “Potionology” in EN is written as 魔法薬学 (literally, "magic pharmaceuticals") in JP, implying that there is, in fact, an intersection between magic and medicine. This is similar to how "technomancy" is described to be the cross between magic and technology.

In terms of a "healing potion", there are instances which show that a magic potion may heal or at least speed up the body's natural healing process. For example, in 7-68 of the main story, Baur gives Lilia something to drink to help him with the dire blow he just took. It doesn't appear to restore him to full health though, as Lilia states he still needs rest afterward. In EN, they use the term "potion" but in JP they use "薬" (kusuri), which is "medicine". Baur qualifies the character with "魔法" (maho), which is "magic", so the term he's using is "magic medicine". This is probably the closest thing to a "healing" potion that we know of in the TWST lore.
So technically, yes, TWST has "healing potions". I wouldn’t say there is one blanket cure-all potion though; based on what we know of potionology and how it’s very similar to irl chemistry classes, we can assume that there are generalized “healing potions” but that there must also be far more specialized and targeted ones, similar to medicine irl or non-enchanted or non-magic infused medicine. This is supported by Riddle mentioning a potion that instantaneously heals burns, implying that there is no “cure-all”.
I would imagine that, like transformation potions, “healing potions” would have to be highly regulated since they’re basically a drug 💀 Riddle even mentions licensed potion pharmacists that formulate potions, as those who consume them may undergo physiological changes. (There would probably be OTC types too, given proper governmental approval!)
Magical potions can only be brewed by licensed professionals or under the supervision of a licensed professional like Crewel. Some potions are ineffective if not brewed by the person who intends to drink it, while other potions require infusions of magic while harvesting the ingredient or preparing the potion in its cauldron.
