Hai as a decently new utapri fan I wanted to ask your opinion on how new fans should get into utapri after finishing the anime. Should they play through the otomes games or maybe try listening to the Masterpiece shows instead?

Since the Masterpiece shows are all alternate universes/acting, it doesn't technically matter? So the real question is, do you like the idol side or the romance side more? Idol side, go for the masterpiece shows. Romance go for the games. And honestly switch around as you please. Just get to SOME game knowledge at some point because that's where you really learn about the boys after all. Personally it's best to know at least a little from everything.

Also the next most important thing will be whether you know Japanese or not. Because currently the anime, movies, and Starish special are the only things available in English. So what you can enjoy is more limited. Shining Live was in English for it's lifespan, and has some archives out there. Live Emotion we can only hope will have an English version but we do not know currently.

Now my answer to assist gets real long so gonna put it under a cut for everyone's sanity.

If you know Japanese, absolutely go enjoy the otome games, all of which have updated ports on the Switch! The release order and thus suggested order would be Repeat, Amazing Aria and Sweet Serenade, Debut, All Star, and finally All Star After Secret. And one day we'll have Dolce Vita.

If you want Quartet Night, while you meet them in Debut, their routes start with All Star. Ringo and Ryuuya have routes in Sweet Serenade and All Star if you're looking for them. Mitsuo in Amazing Aria is well....you'll see.

If you don't know Japanese, I still suggest looking into the games, but your options are more limited. ShiningWonderland has a fantastic crew pushing out translations. They're working on Repeat for Starish and All Star for QN currently. Couple of the routes are finished for at least one ending and others seem to be nearing completion. But I can't speak for that team past that. They are all wonderful people though!

If you don't mind getting a shortened, not amazing experience. There are some old summaries floating around from Breadmasterlee. Those, plus some friends who could understand enough, were how I learned parts of the games back in the day. Not the preferred experience though.

You could also technically struggle your way through with like Google Lens translation? Definitely not recommended though.

As for the masterpiece shows, again if you know Japanese, just enjoy them. If you wanna know what order they released in, the sets were as follows: Masquerade Mirage, Tenka Muteki no Shinobimichi, and Joker Trap Bloody Shadows, Pirates of the Frontier, Every Buddy!, and Polaris Lost Alice, Trios, and The Forest of Lycoris Dreaming of OZ, Never Again Neverland, and Faust Last Cantata

I know that next to last set, the Shining Masterpiece Shows, have translations by Kanasmusings. You can also find translations for some other dramas there, and subtitles for a majority of the stage plays (you will need your own file or DVD/BD).

The most recent Dramatic Masterpiece Shows seem to be works in progress at the moment. I know utapri-translations-uuuu is working on Heavens! And the CDs can be found in my masterlist.

The older ones I don't know off the top of my head if translations exist at all.

There are also Discord servers amongst the community, some public and some private, with resources and amazing people. But I'm not sure on how appropriate it would be to post the public ones. They don't allow piracy so as much as I push buying legally, uh, understandably linking from my blog publicly feels wrong. You can very likely find said discords via the Twitter fandom. Or talk to me in DMs.

I hope requests are still open, um could you do when Quartet Nights and Otoya from Starish get jealous?

Otoya

- Otoya doesn’t get jealous easily. He trusts his partner with his whole heart, but he’s not perfect, and sometimes those unpleasant feelings sneak up on him. 

- He’ll try to do some things to make himself feel better. Like he’ll hold his s/o’s hand every single time they go out. Or he’ll give his s/o a jacket or hoodie of his to wear. But little actions like that can only reassure him so much. 

- Eventually, he’ll come clean and look at his s/o with the saddest look they’ve ever seen. 

- “Um… sorry, but you still love me, right?” 

- Of course they love him! His s/o asks where that silly question comes from, and Otoya finally opens up about how he’s been feeling. His s/o will give him a huge hug and they’ll talk through his feelings until he feels better again. Of course, their conversation ends with a kiss. 

Reiji

- Reiji likes to think he’s not a jealous person. If he’s being honest, though, maybe he’s a little bit jealous. 

- Sometimes when they’re out at an event, his s/o ends up getting more attention than they both thought they would. Reiji takes it in stride, but he’s hyper aware of anyone who lets their gaze linger a bit too long. 

- His s/o can pick up on all of his cues. He’ll hug them more. He’ll rest his chin on top of their head and hug them from behind. He’ll grab them by the waist and pull them closer for a side hug. He’ll grab their hand and make sure that everyone can see. He’s clingy in general, but when Reiji’s practically attached to his s/o at the hip, they figure out what’s going on pretty quick. 

- He also gets physical in… other ways. Normally he’s not a huge fan of kissing his s/o in public, but drastic times call for drastic measures. His s/o will get smooch after smooch, and if the person getting a little too friendly with his s/o happens to see, Reiji will just shrug with a smirk. 

Ranmaru

- Ranmaru’s not jealous as much as he is possessive. 

- He absolutely knows that his s/o can take care of themself, and that he doesn’t need to worry about them straying away or anything like that. But he can’t help the protective streak he has when it comes to his s/o. 

- He’s not big on PDA in general, but he has his ways of making their relationship known. His hand is frequently on the small of his s/o’s back. His arm will go around them when they sit next to each other. 

- There’s other things that he’ll do to make sure it’s clear his s/o is his. He’ll leave hickeys behind in places that are just a bit too difficult to hide with clothing. He tells his s/o they look just fine even if their hair is disheveled from a make out session. And if he buys his s/o clothes for a gift, they’re almost always in his signature maroon color. 

Ai

- Ai is more indifferent to these kinds of feelings than most. 

- However, he might notice that his s/o is spending less time than usual with him, and that gets him thinking. 

- He’d confront his s/o about it right away. They’d assure him that everything is fine, and they’d turn the question around on him. He’s never been concerned about stuff like that before, so what’s different this time?

- Ai’s gradually getting more in touch with his emotions, and he’s a little surprised himself when his s/o suggests that he’s jealous. Just to make sure that everything is alright, his s/o will shower him with more attention than usual, and although Ai probably won’t admit it, he’s very happy that his s/o is doting on him a little. 

Camus

- Camus does not get jealous, thank you very much. He is above any silly immature feelings like that. He picked his s/o, and they picked him, so that solidifies that neither of them will stray from their relationship. 

- That’s not to say he’s not wary of other peoples’ intentions. He notices how other people look at his s/o, and if it’s anyone that he has to interact with regularly, he’s very curt with them and makes it clear he’s not happy with them. He’s usually so polite in public that it’s a bit shocking for people to see that other side of him. Talk about the cold shoulder. 

- His s/o tries to assure him everything is fine, but Camus shuts that down quickly and says that his s/o doesn’t have anything to apologize about. 

- Camus prefers to focus on his s/o throughout it all. When they get some alone time, he’ll shower his s/o with attention and make sure that their every need is met. He’s a lot more pleasant when it’s just the two of them. After all, if he treats his s/o like royalty, they’ll never dream of looking at anyone else in that way.

Re starish tours impressions write up, I'd love to see stuff about the staging and how the guys interacted with the sets and stuff!! The outfits are so good, I'm curious what else was done to compliment the performance!! Hopefully this makes sense lol

Okay hopefully I can do this without being too detailed!!!

The stage is set up with each idol having their own mini stage, based on the country/area they visited. They're also different shapes, although I don't know if that carries any significance. If you were to sort the members by how much movement around the stage/arena was involved, Otoya and Masato were probably the most stationary, followed by Natsuki and Ren who had more of a "real world" type stage setting using different props. Syo and Cecil moved around the entire arena, and Tokiya's fell somewhat in the middle, using props but also very dynamic in movement. Without even understanding the lyrics, each solo performance told a visual story, and I would highly recommend going back to watch 1000% and 2000% at minimum before seeing the movie to understand the symbolism depicted in each set! For the cross unit songs UUUU (4U) and SAMURAIZM, the former highlighted individual dances while the latter was about coordination and synchronicity. Their outfits seem to have an East/West type of look, but my friend said that 4U kind of reminded them of K-Pop, although I don't know enough to really agree or disagree. I can't really say much about Maji Love Starish Tours, I think that's a fun opening song and performance that reintroduces the group. But the performance for START OURS is as beautiful as the song is! I hope that was enough without giving anything away!!

Yes! I do most to least! They're quite fun!

This is an interesting one but in all honesty, I can see all of STARISH being able to date a foreigner (yes, even Masato). I'd say this one is more who'd be more or less inclined to date a foreigner.

MOST

☆ Ren Jinguji: Being the group's resident womaniser and ladies' man, Ren finds all women beautiful. He definitely sees non-Japanese women as particularly gorgeous, and won't pass up the chance to flirt with one. While he is more than willing to date or go out with any kind of foreigner, he has a particular weakness and soft spot for Italians and the Italian language.

☆ Natsuki Shinomiya: In this sweet boy's opinion, he doesn't care for ethnicity, skin colour, or whether you're a foreigner or not - just as long as you love animals and are a kind person, he'll definitely give you a chance! Natsuki also spent some of his childhood in France, so he knows some English and French. He'll certainly try his best to communicate with you, but ultimately, he feels that if you're both on the same wavelength, it really shouldn't matter.

☆ Cecil Aijima: As he himself is a foreigner, Cecil would definitely be happy and more than likely to go out with someone who is also a fellow foreigner. His Japanese isn't native level, so he definitely can sympathise with how the language can be hard, and would be excited to learn the language with you! That being said, he's also somewhat relieved to be able to communicate in English or Agnapalese for a change.

☆ Otoya Ittoki: Otoya is from Tokyo, which is one of the most progressive prefectures in Japan. Naturally, he'd be very curious about foreigners and, more than once, has been very eager to interact with them. Going out with one definitely isn't out of the question, though two things kind of make him uncertain: the language barrier as he's not that great with English (besides standard greetings and phrases like "Merry Christmas!") and how assertive some non-Japanese women can be. Though he's quite willing to learn some English and, in return, he's happy to teach you some Japanese. Just as long as you're both willing to communicate and persist, it'll work! The assertiveness is also something he can shrug off and even find appealing as he's fine with you leading the relationship. Just remember to be gentle with him at times, too, please.

Tokiya Ichinose: Tokiya is from Fukuoka, which is a prefecture that is more on the conservative side. While Tokiya isn't opposed to dating or having a relationship with a foreigner, he does lean more towards a Japanese partner simply because there aren't as many potential obstacles. Things such as the language barrier (though Tokiya would be better at English than Otoya), and differing views are such factors, but the biggest one is long distance. Tokiya is a romantic at heart and he hopes to get married someday in the future which may be hard if his partner lives far away or isn't into a serious relationship like he hopes to be in. Persist, support, and reassure him, and he's more liable to change his mind.

Syo Kurusu: Poor Syo would choose to lean towards a Japanese partner not because of the partner in question, but his own Napoleon complex. Syo is only 163 cm tall, and most foreign women tower over him, which definitely gets him pretty insecure as he feels that most women aren't into shorter men. Most Japanese women are shorter than him, so that's why he leans closer to home. But if a non-Japanese woman does't mind the height differences, he'd consider it. Though he also doesn't like the idea of being coddled and protected due to his short height - he'd rather be the one protecting you, and you can be damn sure he'll protect and defend you, tooth and nail.

Masato Hijirikawa: Out of STARISH, Masato definitely is the one the least inclined to go out with a foreigner. Again, not because he doesn't find them attractive (he's definitely been quite curious and interested with a few he's seen), but it's more due to his upbringing. He was born and raised in a conservative and traditional home, so he expects his wife to uphold certain traditions as well. Traditional values in Japan are quite conservative, and he's not really someone who breaks from tradition either, so it could very well wind up getting rather cold if he or the other party aren't willing to compromise. Patience, mutual respect, and a willingness to listen may make him reconsider and actually take a risk.

A/N: First of all, thank you for your request! I planned to write this in one sitting but I ended up getting writer's block multiple times so I'm sorry this took a while to finish! But I hope you enjoy reading it!

STARISH

Otoya:

Otoya’s first reaction when he heard you were in a coma would be to panic. Boy hasn’t had the best memories with a loved one getting hospitalised and he feared that the worst scenario might happen to you.

He would rush to the hospital as soon as possible and ask about your situation and if there was anything he could do to help. If he was allowed next to your bed he would try his best not to panic as he sat next to you. Otoya would hold your hand and talk about the memories that he shared with you, and how much he loved and treasure you, all this with the hopes that it would help you wake up faster.

When you wake up, Otoya would burst into tears from all the relief he felt knowing that you were going to be okay. You might have to end up comforting this poor boy because chances are, he can’t stop his tears from flowing. Otoya promises to take care of you better in the future, he’d never want to see you in that state again.

Tokiya:

Tokiya would be extremely shocked when he first heard of your hospitalisation, but he would be really good at staying calm. He would make his way to the hospital and talk to the doctors, letting them know if you have any special needs (e.g. allergies) so that they can find the best way to treat you.

When Tokiya visited you while you were still in a coma, he would probably end up pulling a nearby chair to sit near your bed while he did some reading. He wasn’t a man of many words to start with, and so his hospital visits would pretty much be in silence. Occasionally he would look up from his novel to take a quick glance at you. Once or twice he would find himself closing his book completely and proceeding to look at you.

When you wake up, Tokiya would make it a point to attend to all your needs if possible, and would stick very close to your bed. He would ask you if you needed anything to eat or drink, or if the bed was comfortable enough for you. If you asked to hold his hand he would very gladly extend it out for you. All that mattered to him was that you were safe and recovering.

Natsuki:

Natsuki would be at a complete loss on what to do and how to react. He was obviously upset and worried, but he told himself to try and stay positive, he wanted to believe that you would be okay. He would rush to the hospital as soon as he could so that he can check up on you.

As soon as he saw you lying on the bed, he would try to talk to you, but of course you wouldn't respond. Although Natsuki already knew of this, he was still sad, he missed your bubbly cheerful voice that would often accompany his. But he would reassure himself that if you rested well, he would hear that voice of yours again. Meanwhile, he would probably bring his piyo plush to accompany you by your side, saying it will keep the monsters at night away.

When you woke up, you would immediately be greeted by your boyfriend's cheerful voice. Natsuki would be extremely talkative, to the point where you might not be able to keep up with his energy. Instead, you decided to just listen to him go on and on, all the while wearing the biggest smile on your face.

Masato:

When Masato first received the news of you being in a coma, he felt his entire world crash in front of his eyes. It would take him a while before he could calm down and compose himself. He would then go to the hospital to ask about your condition.

After getting the assurance from the doctors that you were going to be ok, Masato would make it a point to visit you everyday. While he would love to prepare your favourite food everyday, there was obviously no point in him doing so. Instead he would bring some items from your shared apartment that he knew were your ‘comfort items’, such as your favorite toy bear. He would place them beside you, hoping that it would help in the healing process. He would also tell you about his day, a habit he cultivated since the both of you started dating.

Masato would be holding your hand so tight once you woke up, saying how worried sick he had been for the past week. You would find yourself pulled into a gentle hug, and while Masato would try his best to not cry, you would soon feel your shoulder becoming wet from his tears.

Ren:

Ren has a strong confidence in the abilities of the doctors’ who treated you, and he is sure you’ll recover in no time. However, he wouldn’t bear to leave your room and would feel more comfortable sitting by your side instead.

Everyday he would change the flowers in your vase, and made sure to display your favourite flowers inside. Once in a while he would talk to you for brief moments - maybe his voice will help you wake up faster. In the long moments of silence, Ren would hold your hand and keep them warm, occasionally running his fingers through your hair, helping you keep them tidy. If he felt uncomfortable with the silence, he would put on some music to help calm his nerves.

Upon waking up, you would catch Ren by your side, his hand still holding yours. He would be smiling at you and probably asked if you slept well. While he may look like he was never extremely worried about you, Ren felt a huge load lifted off his shoulders the moment you woke up.

Syo:

Syo was definitely worried when he received the news that you were hospitalised - and in a coma. His first reaction would be to ask what happened to you. After learning the circumstances that led to your hospitalisation, Syo would then try his best to calm down before visiting you.

Syo has had his fair share of being in and out of the hospital, so he was very attentive when he visited you - he would adjust the angle of the bed to make sure you were comfortable, making sure the temperature wasn’t too hot or cold etc. After which he would probably sit next to you while holding your hand. The usually energetic Syo would suddenly turn calm as he talked to you about how he was constantly visiting the hospital as a child and how his parents probably worried about him the same way he was worried about you.

When you finally woke up, Syo would be super relieved and might actually let the tears he had been holding back for the past week out. His hand would grip onto yours tightly as he cried, happy that you were awake and he made a promise to protect you better in the future.

Cecil:

Anyone who knew Cecil knew that you meant the entire world to him, so when he got the news that you were in a coma, it was a huge blow for him to handle. Cecil would be at a loss, to the point where he probably didn’t even know how to react until someone told him that he should go to the hospital to check on you.

However, after getting the assurance from the doctors that you would recover, Cecil spent all his time staying next to your bed, holding your hand at every chance he got. He would talk to you a lot, which was basically his coping mechanism. There would be many sleepless nights for him and he refused to leave your side to even go to the cafeteria to get something to eat (the nurses were kind enough to deliver food to him, which Cecil was grateful for.

When you woke up, Cecil would be super relieved, he would tell you how much he missed hearing your voice and your bubbly presence. Planting a chaste kiss on the back of your palm, Cecil would tell you how thankful he was that he could still spend the rest of his life with you.

QUARTET NIGHT

Reiji:

Reiji would probably go cold on the inside but he would never let it show. Silently he would blame himself multiple times for not taking better care of you even though he was well aware that you winding up in the hospital was not his fault at all. Reiji would find himself sitting very silently on one of the benches outside of your room, obviously very worried. It would take a lot of coaxing for him from the nurses to finally eat and actually get some rest.

When you finally woke up after a week, Reiji felt as if the stone of burden was lifted off his shoulders and he would let out a huge sigh of relief. He would carefully approach your bed and ask you if you needed anything - water, snacks, a blanket. If you asked for anything he would not hesitate to find a way to grab them for you.

But if all you needed was him by your side, then Reiji would gently take your hand in his and hold them for as long as possible. He’s honestly super relieved to have you back by his side.

Ranmaru:

Ranmaru would be insanely worried and while he tries not to let it show, his actions would be a dead giveaway. Like Reiji, he would refuse to leave the hospital despite the doctors assuring him that you would wake up after a week and he would find himself pacing up and down the hallways nonstop, only sitting down when he finally tired himself out.

When he finally gets to see you again after you’ve woken up, he was ready to start firing questions at you, but he would stop himself in time after seeing your face. After all, all that matters to him was that you were no longer in danger.

Ranmaru would probably have brought in some of your favourite food and drinks with him just in case you were starving after being asleep for a whole week, but you jokingly told him that you were kept well fed through the IV drip that you were given. Ranmaru then sighs and eventually just plays some soft rock music to keep the both of you company until you felt less tired.

Ai:

When Ai initially heard you were in a coma, he would worry a little, but after getting the relevant reports from your doctors, he deduced that you would do just fine, so he eased up. While he was not worried, he would have moments where he missed your presence around the house. He had already made mental notes on your daily routines, so when it was a day where you would sit in front of the TV to catch up on your favourite series, Ai would find himself doing that instead. His thought process would be like “Ah, (y/n) always loved watching this show every week.”

When you were awake, Ai would immediately go and check up on you, seeing if you were uncomfortable or tired etc and probably give you a simple explanation on what happened to you. If you were up for it, Ai would then tell you about what he did for the past week, and how he has your favourite snacks all prepared for you when you get home.

Camus:

Similar to Ren, Camus has full faith in the doctors’ abilities, who he knew were top in the nation. However, that didn’t mean that he wasn’t worried at all. He would probably be able to go home, assured that he would get a call eventually that you had woken up and he would be able to see you.

At home, he would definitely feel your presence missing, the two of you usually had afternoon tea together and at night, took walks together with his dog. Camus suddenly having to do these activities by himself felt weird. Sometimes he would accidentally make tea for two people instead of one and chuckle upon realising his silly mistake.

When he gets to see you after you wake up, he would wear a smile on his face and probably look at you with a gentle gaze, relieved that you were okay and he would soon be able to welcome you home. While holding and gently rubbing his thumb over your hand, he would then talk to you about what happened over the week (and all the silly things he had done.)

TOKIYA ICHINOSE

Maybe it was his midnight-blue hair, or perhaps it was his ocean eyes, but the very moment I laid my eyes upon him my mind immediately thought, “Wow, he’s very good looking… charming... I really like his vibe.” That was the first reason why he piqued my interest, rather, the initial reason why I fancied him. My eyes were drawn to him and the fact that Kay bombarded me with a truckload of his pictures didn’t help at all, I just fell deeper into the hole. But as if that wasn’t enough, she started spamming me with utapri songs and I fell in love immediately. They are all such good singers but there’s one of them who sticks out to me the most, as expected, it’s Tokiya. His voice has this intricate and refined softness that seemed to caress my ears and touch my soul. He has such a sweet (and might I add a handsome) voice, kudos to Miyano Mamoru for that.

So I started watching the anime and through that, I got to know him better. At first, he seems cold with an air of loneliness and uneasiness dawning on him. But as the series progresses, I discovered that he’s a good-natured, warm, and dedicated person who loves singing and music with all his heart and all. He’s hardworking, dedicating everything to his craft. He has pride in it, so when he was told that his singing has no ‘heart’ it affected him a lot. That caused a lot of distress in his system, and the fact that his company is pushing him to pursue other things than being a singer added to that. His passion for his craft is burning, a fire that no one could put out. That’s one of the things that I love about him. He’s dedicated to everything he does. He’s a perfectionist but he’s also a caring person who cares a lot about the starish members. He’s genuinely a good person but that doesn’t mean he’s perfect. He strives for improvement and development all the time. He helps the members whenever they need. Most importantly, his attitude towards his passion is respectable and admirable.

I might’ve said a lot of things but I guess that only means I love a lot of things about him. He’s such a beautiful soul that inspires me to be more dedicated to my passion, to make my dreams come true no matter what it takes. His path towards his dream was rough, it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows but that’s life, isn’t it? Despite that, he kept walking towards his dream. He’s admirable, respectable, and irresistibly loveable. That being said, I love all the things that made his character; that made Tokiya Ichinose be the kind of character that he is right now.

PS. Miyano Mamoru played a big part too. His insane talent gave life to Tokiya’s character.

When I first watched the Utapri anime like 6 years ago, having a best boy didn't cross my mind. At first, I was just most interested in Tokiya out of all the boys because I just thought he looked cool. I liked how mysterious he seemed and also, his hair, probably just because it was blue tbh. Either way, good design.

However, what really got me attached to him wasn't his looks. I then liked Tokiya's serious personality. I like how he starts off cold and stoic but how throughout the games and anime, he slowly softens up. I didn't just like his personality, I could also relate to his perfectionism and hard-working side, even when he exhausts himself, which is something I admit I also have. I continue to relate to him now after all this time, and that's why he's such a good character to me.

Besides that, his songs are nice to listen to and he has just a very pleasant voice. It's nice just to go listen to his voice after a long day. In a way, liking Tokiya also got me into the whole Utapri franchise: made some friends, made a couple of good memes, all that kinda stuff.

Also, I feel like it's a crime not to mention this so: he thicc. Like, dang, no wonder the guy only eats salads because all the fats he eats goes straight to that ass of his. (I am sorry that you had to read that.)

Overall, I just think he's neat. To me, he's relatable and has a nice character development. Tokiya is and will continue to be my best boy. :)

REN JINGUJI

Ren Jinguji, the 5th member of Starish is without any shame my favorite character of the Uta no prince sama series. Though often disregarded Ren is and always will be my most favorite and I firmly believe that he has one of the most, if not the most depth in his character. I love Ren a lot however because of his surface charismatic attitude he is usually labeled as a “playboy” or a “lothario”. This is not correct and it should never define him, as he actually is one of the most gentle and compassionate characters of the series. Ren has a very deep surface characterization and personality that is never usually recognized unless you truly take the time to understand WHY Ren acts the way he does, and WHY he makes the choices that he makes. My favorite part about loving characters is being able to accept them for their demons and embrace what others would see as the “imperfections” in them. That Is the best way to truly love them. I love Ren because of his motives, choices, and most of all his passionate loving heart. Although the pain he hides and the personality of who he really is, is hidden under a mask of charisma, he never loses himself deep within.

He’s misunderstood, but he’s beautiful. He’s so deep, from the everlasting devotion to loving his passed on mother, to always cherishing memories and the past bond he had with his childhood best friend Masato, to going against what his brother wants of him because he wants to fight to have a choice and to be passionate about something that he wants to love, because HE wants to love it. Ren didn’t have the love that a lot of people had at such a young age, he made a path for himself and along the way succumbed to the human faults that we all falter from within the hardest times in our life or even dicult events. He almost gave up, just as I know many of us had almost done before, as I know and can relate to, and still do now.

But he dusted himself o and picked up where he left o, making himself happy from once the feeling of being a hollow shell with no reason why he even existed to realizing that the most important thing in the world to him was cherishing the people who made him see the world in colors and seeking the choices that had been stripped from him at such a young age. He broke free from the chains of his family, his past, and his regrets to spread a beautiful pair of rose wings, his own wings to fly. And I hope he always flies. I will always love him, and wish nothing but the best for him whatever that be.

Ren Jinguji- the sexy, charming and flirty member of the STARISH boys. The youngest of the Jinguji family, a troubled child who grew up without a mother. A person who possesses many charms and is blessed with the gift of beauty. A red rose he was, beautiful yet his thorns are to be avoided. Beneath his passionate and seductive mannerisms there is a boy that craves genuine affection, from the one he truly adores and cherishes.

Ren Jinguji to me initially was one with a beautiful, attractive deep baritone, who is voiced by none other than the legend- Suwabe Junichi himself. The voice is an accurate fit of how this stereotype of a charming bishie should be, youthful and sensitive, and at times warm and seductive. His portrayal brings out the appeal of the character, the emotions and thoughts a troubled young adult such as the ‘useless third son’ lived through. Many would see him as a romantic one, one who showers those around him with attention and passion. Within however lives a rebellious soul who distrusts many, but still somehow desires that ray of sunshine that brightens his lonely soul.

Ren Jinguji is one that deserves real love, someone who appreciates him for who he is.

SYO KURUSU

Why do I like Syo, huh? Well, there are a lot of reasons! Some of them are more personal ones. First of all, Syo has always been my best boy, since UtaPri (the anime) exists. So ten long years now.

His fashion style is the first thing I noticed and it immediately intrigued me. I remember that my first thought, after seeing him in season one, was “Woah, he looks really cool!” even though Syo was just in his school uniform! I think what also made me interested in him was his energetic persona. The way he looked up to Ryuya Hyuga and wanted to follow in his footsteps was really sweet to me as well. Syo’s enthusiasm and positive attitude actually encouraged me to become stronger in a way too, if I’m being honest. I, personally, have always found his songs motivating and they made me feel better. I really came to love Syo in his episode in season one. When he talked about his childhood and how weak he was, I really felt with him. From that moment on I cheered him on and Syo definitely became my favorite character. My interest never wavered over the next seasons either.

I also have personal reasons why I love him so much. I just feel very connected and relate to him a lot, y’know? We have quite a few things in common. Syo and I have the same eye color, we have both played the violin since we were little, and were born weak and with pretty much the same health and heart issues. I like to say that Syo “saved” me, which is true. There is also the fact that the blonde and I are both on the shorter side (and regularly get teased for it), too! Though, I’m even a little shorter than him.

But to be more positive again, there is just so much more to him than meets the eye at first! Syo is more than just the stereotypical short sporty character. He really cares for his friends and wants the best for them. Syo’s friendship with every STARISH member is different but still close. He’s also protective of the ones around him. Syo really cares about his little twin brother too, which can be seen in the games and the few times he talked about him in the anime. Syo’s big heart easily balances out his, sometimes, tsundere behavior and I love him for that. This blonde idol is just a great guy and deserves all the love he’s getting and more.

Seriously, stan Syo Kurusu, guys!

Syo Kurusu is my favourite idol within the utapri games and any other form of media pertaining to the franchise. He is my favourite idol because of several factors, one of which being that his voice actor is Hiro Shimono, who voices Zenitsu from Demon slayer and Lucifer from “Devil is a part timer”. Syo is a very outgoing character and is talented in many aspects athletically. Born with a heart disease, he continues to persevere throughout the myriads of life’s problems in front of him.

He’s extremely outgoing and is proficient in the martial art of Karate and desires to strengthen his body more than what it is currently. He is best friends with Natsuki and can communicate with each other proficiently. Syo is my favourite character within the franchise because of his resolve, perseverance and great chemistry with Natsuki and his teammates. Hiro Shimono did the character justice by making his voice one of young, adventurous and energetic. With that said, Syo is a character I truly enjoy within the franchise and wish to see more of him.

CECIL AIJIMA

Greetings, princes and princesses, and welcome to a world of princes, questionably talking cats, and magic! I’m of course talking about Cecil Aijima, our foreign prince of UtaPri! So, why do I like Cecil Aijima? It’s borderline ridiculous, but it’s because of Cecil’s birthday. More specifically, Cecil’s Birthday Cruise card. But, I should start at the beginning.

Back when I first watched the anime, I thought Cecil was a little bit of a brat towards literally everyone, and one of my least favorites at the time. After watching through the rest of the anime though, I started to like him a lot more than I did before. To me, he had matured a lot after season 2, and never turned back to that bratty self. And so, when playing SL, he might not have been my favorite, but I didn’t hate him. Then, that one fateful day, I decided to pull in his birthday gacha. To my surprise, I had gotten the card in my first pull! Then the story dragged me into the Cecil Appreciation Group. I thought the story was incredibly cute. Then I got more Cecil cards so I could read more stories. Then the cycle repeated itself again. And now, well, if I’m writing this, I think you know what happened to me afterwards. I’ll be here, doing my best for him.

I remember first watching Utapri in middle school and questioning. "Well shit- this is my life now..." and I didn't really have a favorite character at the time. I was always bouncing between characters like Syo, Otoya, even the teachers. However it was season 2 that made me realize who my true favorite was. Despite his at first cocky nature when he was first introduced, Cecil to me was amazing! His singing was magical, his origins even more fascinating. You wouldn't think Utapri would turn that down the magic route but it somehow did.

As the seasons went on, and as I got more into the series, he just became more of a love to me. His kindness and child-like nature and curiosity, he felt different than the other characters.

I love the other characters, yes but him?

Something about him just felt right! He not only seems to be a protector for those he cares about but also feels like he would be the best person to be around. Always wanting to do anything new and exciting just to peak his curiosity and to learn more. Ever since then, he has always been my favorite. The one and only Annapolis Prince, Aijima Cecil.

You let out a sigh from the long and hard day you had, but now it doesn’t seem to matter since you can relax and enjoy the rest of your day with your best boy….

“It's great to see you. I hope this time with you never ends.” Ren as always is happy to see you. Especially since you’ve been visiting him more and more. It seems like every free chance you have you are going straight to him.

It makes sense, with how your days have been. You’ve been far more stressed and tense then you ever were. You would tell your feelings plainly then after you tell him how you feel so much better spending time with him. Even just looking at his face seems to put you in a much more happy and relaxed mood.

Yet instead of giving him a tap you click the “Idol” button. A wave of fear hits him but he tells himself that you’re probably just going to change his outfit and/or wallpaper. Except, you end up clicking on Masato instead. You select him as your favorite and spend your time smiling and talking to him.

Ren can’t help but to feel betrayed. He thought you loved him as deeply as he did you. He was certain you wanted to be with him here. So why did you go for someone else? Should he of acted off script so you knew he was really here for you? Not only that but how could you have chosen Hijirikawa over him?!

Deep jealousy spread throughout Ren as questions floated around in his head. He hated the conversation taking place without him. Everything you were saying was things you would only tell him. So Ren made sure you knew he was listening. He made sure the only voice you heard was his own. You don’t need Hijirikawa. All you need is him.

Everytime you would tap Masato, Ren would speak one of his lines instead, “Thanks for always being with me. I promise to devote myself to you from here on out.”. You were shocked to hear Ren’s voice come out of Masato’s lips. Even Ren’s lines showed up in the chat bubble when he would speak. Even restarting the app it would still always be Ren. Eventually you just gave up and switched back to Ren.

Which of course, is how it should’ve always been.

QUARTET NIGHT

Ai Mikaze:

You open up your favorite app to rest from the overworked day. You get comfortable and get ready to greet your best boy…

“We make a great pair, you know that? Let's keep at it.” You came right on time as he expected. He was content chatting with you as you would talk and tap him for a reply. He could only speak the lines written, but he wanted to talk to you as a normal human.

Then after a little bit, as the conversation was dying down, you suddenly clicked the “Idol” button. Ai wasn’t worried at all. He knew the two of you were a couple and that you wouldn’t change him out for anyone else. If anything you just wanted to change his look and scenery. Except once your hand went to tap for Reiji, something started to swirl inside of his chest.

It felt as though you were cheating on him. Like you were denying the “love” you two had for each other. Of course Ai didn’t believe it. Maybe he did something you didn’t like, which makes him determined to change it. Since he knows that you love him, and only him. You clicking Reiji was just a mistake, a way for him to see how hurt you were.

He can’t stand being in the background as you talk happily to Reiji. He has to show you that he’s willing to fix things. To be there for you when you need it. So, with Ai being the tech-savvy person he was, he quickly started to take apart code to put himself where Reiji was. The device’s screen would flicker between the two, causing the scenery to glitch in and out between what the two idols had.

Ai kept deconstructing and constructing code. You stared at the screen in worry and fear. Reiji’s smile was gone as he pulled a look of sadness, and pain as this was going on. It was an expression you never saw and you doubted it was one of his usual expressions. Then there was Ai’s voice, “I’m here for you… so please don’t leave me again.”

After hearing his voice in a desperate manner in a line you’ve never heard before, as the screen was switching from him and Reiji, you finally restarted the app. You took a few moments to yourself wondering if it was all in your head or if that really happened. Your heart was racing so fast in fear and horror at what you saw. After recollecting your thoughts you opened back up the app. Hesitating before you did so.

The title page seemed normal and when you were greeted with your idol on the home screen, it was Ai, “I'm pretty meticulous when it comes to keeping a diary. After all, our memories together are precious.” You let out a relieved sigh to see that his lines are normal. You were still shaken up but you decided to leave your favorite as Ai, as usual.

All you can do is hope that it doesn’t happen ever again.

If they were real, STARISH and Quartet Night

It started with this baby boi pulling the wink+blep face for the Halloween greeting in Shining Live and I just lost it.

And this caused me to spiral why the hell I love this cinnamon roll. I will start from Quartet Night, then STARISH. I do not YET perceive HEAVENS because I don’t know enough about them to have a good opinion of them.

DISCLAIMER: Please know these are my own opinions due to my personal preferences and experiences (And being in a 5-year strong relationship has colored much of what I now gravitate towards in characters like these, for a franchise like this.). I also live in a patriarchal and yikey society so that also made me wary of some characters more than normal. If these characters happen to be your favorite, I apologize for the harsh words about them. It’s not on them as characters, but on them as a hypothetical IF THEY EXISTED AS REAL PEOPLE. OTHERWISE, I love them ALL so much as people in the fictional media they are in. With that aside...

QUARTET NIGHT - Ranmaru

Sad to say, I dislike his grumpy “ >:( “energy. I feel like it would be hard to start a conversation, even if I’ve spent much of my years in the rock and metal side of music. We might not get along because of how aggressive/eternally-angry people drain me. He also can’t seem to take a jab SKSK it would be hard to joke around him too. But I guess there’s still hope for interaction since we have rock music as a common ground.

QUARTET NIGHT - CAMUS

HARD PASS BRO. He’s vain, two-faced (flirtatious and submissive onstage, cold and bossy offstage), and I can’t even imagine being friends with this guy. It just feels vexing to me to even try. Pretty handsome though!

QUARTET NIGHT - AI 

Quiet and objective. Can’t imagine romance, but I can deffo imagine being friends to talk about stuff with. I imagine he can think of questioning both norms and the extremes, and a good discourse partner. All-around a good brainbuddy probably! 

QUARTET NIGHT - Reiji

HE. My 2nd best BF-material for sure.

He’s like an older brother figure, and people close to me know that I have a bias towards men who naturally take on a caring and nurturing role like an older brother would without being too overbearing. He’s responsible and competent despite his goofy impression, and is the glue that holds HIS senior idol group together. He’s cheery and has enough self-awareness to know when’s a good time to step back to reflect on his problems before going back with a refreshed mindset and rekindled drive. Though he doesn't have much baggage, he’s very empathetic and loves cheering people up. He looks after everyone with care even if he knows they don't respect him the same way. That makes me respect him so much. I’d absolutely wanna date him, but if I can’t, then I’d still love to be his friend.

STARISH - Masato

Well, he’s a very very formal guy. He gets easily flustered to silence and seems dense. Due to his patriarchal upbringing, he can’t even deal with women because he isn't familiar with how they are, gets flustered hugging a woman, etc. But I respect him and his struggle to move away from that environment. He’s got issues, but I’m more willing to be his bro than his gf.

STARISH - Ren

Well. He’s a flirty fuccboi what can I say. He has a way with words but also observant and smart, but he has the makings of someone potentially manipulative, or he might not be able to respect boundaries. He seems like someone who’d respect your boundary shortly for charm points and then tread closer to them to pressure you into caving, and I dislike that. BUT he has a grounded intellectual side that is refreshing and stuff, so maybe just an acquaintance or a colleague, but not a friend, especially not a BF. Maybe if he proves his genuineness after a long time, I’d let him in emotionally. HAHA!

STARISH - Syo

He’s loud and easy to frustrate or anger. Very vocal and might be the type to speak before thinking. Seems to also be the type to look for an attack in statements first instead of the person’s true intent. I respect him for like,,,, dressing feminine but still declaring masculinity as if society respects that dissonance in expression and behavior. That’s pretty badass. But as a friend? I’d still keep an emotional distance, but he seems to be fun if we’re both trashtalking something or someone who deserves it lmFAO but we wouldn’t be seen hanging out for the sake of hanging out. I also respect him for sticking with his bestie Natsuki who has his own set of baggages and quirks.

STARISH - Natsuki

I feel like Natuski is so much more fitting to be a bestie? He doesn't seem all that interested in a romance either, just someone who accepts him. I’d love to be his friend who would do that, bec I can feel safe and have like a gurlbestie relationship with him. He’s also got something complex hidden in his personality that touches a part of my life deeply (A friend having the same experience and condition as him), which I can heavily sympathize with. Definitely bestie material.

STARISH - Cecil

He speaks like a humanities course major :sob: He’s insightful and observant and stuff but can also be flirtatious or pursue-y in a too forward way I'm not comfortable with huhu but as a friend I’d respect him and his craft since I know they’d be good! I like his curiosity and genuine interest in learning, and would probably hit it off in a cultural exchange of some sorts lmao but as a partner? Nope.

STARISH - Tokiya

Hoo boy. Actually before I liked Otoya or Reiji, Tokiya was my first best boi. He fell to 3rd place the longer I got into the franchise. He’s...a token professional guy, but can be way too serious and solemn to be my bf. BUT I’d love him as a chill friend to exchange Thoughts with on serious matters, and as each others confidants. He has baggage, but i respect his hustle and I could empathize with his loneliness as an only child with divorced parents. He can be very professional and lives a v rigid life. I cant with that bro but I’ll always cheer you on! It’s a high-maintenance life to accommodate and I’m not ready for that much conscientiousness, seeing as I can barely keep mine in check. In contrast to Syo, he’d be the guy I’d enjoy silent companionship with. And I’d love to be the friend who’d threaten him out of overworking : )  Sir your healthy diet ain’t sht if you practice ‘til you’re an inch within passing out.

And now, for the main event:

Otoya, my sunshine, my sunflower, my shining star and glowing moon

His high energy might seem like a contrast to what I usually like, but that's because he balances that out with so many other traits that I really like. He’s quite childlike, but still mature. He’s already gone through much grief and loss, and consequently emphasizes treasuring people and experiences as you go through them, knowing full well how nothing is eternal. Otoya isn’t afraid to express his vulnerable side either; he lets his girl see his emotions and never pretends to know better just to feel superior, or that he has to “get it together” for her. I admire it when people are open or honest about their emotions like that. He’s naïve in the most genuine way, always giving everyone the benefit of the doubt. He seems like the type to respect boundaries and try his hardest not to come to conclusions before you tell him what’s wrong. He’s also a dork about his hobbies, which is also something I find cute ;u;

Also also he’s also the first to welcome the newbie STARISH member everyone disliked just because he was new. I absolutely love indiscriminately friendly types. He emphasizes making everyone feel welcome and befriended! I RESPECT THAT SO HARD. He can be very sentimental looking after people's happiness, and he isn't at all afraid of getting mushy and letting everyone know how much he appreciates each one of his friends and why.

He’s also like Terashii in a sense that he’s aware of not having the best voice, but acknowledges that he can bring something else to shine differently from others, instead of aiming to shine harder than others. I respect that mentality so much.

Everyone looks after him like he’s the everyone's Younger Brother figure. In my language, I say “ang sarap niya alagaan”, meaning he’s the type of person you’d LOVE to care for, taking care of him feels good.  He probably has down days due to his childhood and baggage, but I wouldn't mind taking care of him until he feels better. I’d be happy to, honestly.

It’s especially cool that Reiji (my 2nd best BF pick) and Otoya are close and share a brotherly relationship WHICH IS PERFECT because Reiji is the Older Brother of the agency while Otoya’s the Younger Brother of the group. LIKEWISE, Morikubo Showtaro (Reiji’s VA) is like the industry older-brother figure for Terashii too ;A; UWAH!

I feel like he also wont push anything you’re not comfy with, and is willing to let you pace the the relationship and its developments just so u can have ease of mind. While everyone tries to lead the way in the relationship, Otoya's striding beside you.

As a partner, I feel like just the sight of him would lift my spirits up. Just seeing him would make my day at work feel better. He’s so radiantly cheerful in a way that isn’t annoying, and i love that so much. its like if he becomes a BF, and then a husband, you can feel that the relationship stays in a state that charms the inner adolescent in you. It’s like it’s so comforting how youthful he is. And this is such an ironic thing for me because I really tend to like quiet people more, and yet he’s an exception because his "noise” is never annoying, but uplifting. Like if he bugs me while I’m down, I’d HAPPILY "have no choice" but to go with whatever he had in mind, but fondly warmly so, since he wants to make me happy. Y’know how some people say having a dog helps with their depression because of their energy and continuous optimism and constant need for stimulation but also constant goodwill for you? yeah Otoya’s a dang dog. But I feel like if I tell him I’m genuinely socially mentally tired, he’d also love to just settle for a cuddle and man...

He’s the boyfriend who also happens to be your best friend.

Honestly feel like he’s a self-insert of a real life bf. I find Terashii and my IRL partner in him, which is funny bec Terashii voices him, and Terashii is like my partner. BASICALLY EVERYTHING COMES FULL CIRCLE. I like Terashii and Otoya because they have a lot of traits that I’ve come to love in my partner.

The Ballad of the Little Unicorn - Chapter 2: Guiding Starlight

Trying something a little different with presentation for this chapter compared to last chapter. I find that using related gifs seems to help my reach a bit compared to not using gifs for longer works, so let’s see how that goes. The first chapter for this work didn’t do very well at all, so I’m hoping that finally introducing the STARISH boys into the fic and putting in a gif will help my reach a bit.

Compared to the atmosphere of urban Tokyo earlier in the day, it was a seemingly calm mid-afternoon when Eri and Haruka walked out of a shoe store just a stone’s throw away from the park where they had met just a couple hours before, the former of the two jumping in excitement when she discovered that her new shoes lit up with each step she took. The older of the two watched in amusement at the younger girl’s delight, content for a brief moment when she found a place for them to rest for a short while. 

A strange urge came over Haruka to check her phone as she remembered that she didn’t quite know what time it was and never bothered to check after taking the little girl under her wing. She almost instantly regretted not stopping to check it earlier as her phone was nearly blown up with notifications of missed calls, voicemails and texts from the boys she worked with, her face turning white as a sheet as she counted a total of nearly fifty missed notifications. It was only then when she’d noticed that it was already quarter to four. 

“Oh no!” she muttered to herself, hoping young Eri didn’t hear her. “I can’t believe I’m almost 20 minutes late!” 

Unfortunately for her, the girl’s head tilted in confusion as she innocently asked, “Late for what, Miss Haruka?” 

“I’m late for a very important meeting for work,” Haruka explained in mild frustration, quick to add in seconds later, “Don’t worry, Eri, it’s not your fault! I should’ve finished my other errands earlier is all.” 

“... If you say so, Miss Haruka,” Eri replied hesitantly, not fully believing that she wasn’t the reason why the young woman was late for work. 

“So much for resting here, huh?” Haruka asked with a light albeit forced laugh in a feeble attempt to change topics. “Anyway, it looks like you’re coming with me to work, Eri. I’m sure the others would love to get a chance to meet you!” 

“Others?” inquired Eri as she grabbed onto Haruka’s hand and tried to keep up with the older girl’s quickened pace. “What kind of work do you do?”

“I’m a composer,” answered Haruka with a soft smile. “I write songs for this group of very talented guys to sing. They perform in lots of competitions, which is actually what this meeting’s about if I’m remembering it right.... Anyway, these guys are all so nice, so don’t be shy with them, okay?” 

Eri nodded and hummed in reply, recalling the concert at UA’s culture festival just a few months prior. The very moment she had truly smiled for the first time. She thought back to the culture fest, then felt all of her worries of how she was going to return home disappear when she made the connection that Haruka and the guys she was referring to also had that power to make someone smile as big as she did that day. She felt safe with the orange-haired woman holding her hand as they nearly ran to the agency where Haruka worked, already viewing them as the sort of heroes that save someone’s heart and soul rather than their physical being, the kind of hero Eri knew in her heart she wanted to be when she grew up. 

Just like Miss Kyouka, Eri thought to herself with a small smile as she lightly squeezed Haruka’s hand when their running pace finally slowed to a stop. 

“Well, here we are!” Haruka exclaimed with a slightly exasperated sigh, a relieved smile on her face as she knew she wouldn’t be too much later for the meeting than she already was. “Welcome to Shining Agency, Eri!” 

The little girl’s red eyes lit up at the large fancy building in front of her. It was about the same size as the UA dorms, except it was slightly taller and less U-shaped than the latter building. Eri couldn’t even begin to fathom the things that could take place inside that building, but her thoughts and amazement were interrupted as Haruka laughed slightly at Eri’s reaction before gently tugging at her hand. 

“Come on, Eri!” coaxed Haruka once the little girl’s attention finally turned back to her. “Let’s go inside!”

With that, the two hurried into the building, not wanting to keep Haruka from being any later than she already was. A few moments and checks from the older girl’s phone later, they finally arrived to the room where the meeting was to happen. Haruka slowly turned the door handle, opened the door and walked into the room with little Eri following close behind her. Profuse apologies spilled out of the yellow-eyed woman’s mouth as the white-haired girl took in her new surroundings once again from the safety of behind Haruka’s legs. 

The meeting room looked somewhat similar to a classroom in one of those high-class stereotypical rich private schools, nothing like what Eri had seen back in UA. Even with the lights on in the room and sunlight pouring in from the giant window on the right side of the room, it still seemed to be a tad dark inside. Seven young men were also inside the room, waiting for Haruka’s arrival. All of this overwhelmed Eri to the point where she decided it was best to keep her mouth shut and stay as hidden as possible until Haruka told her it was okay to come out. 

“You had us all really worried, Nanami!” exclaimed one of the guys, a handsome young man with red hair and matching eyes. “But we’re happy you’re okay!” 

“Sorry about that, everyone,” Haruka answered as she reached into her messenger bag to pull out a somewhat thick stack of papers. “It took a little longer than I hoped to get these printed.” 

“No way!” a short blond donning a dark blue fedora gasped as he snatched a copy of the papers Haruka was holding. “You already printed out the sheet music for our next piece?!”

“Would you really expect anything less from our Lady, Shorty?” inquired a tall strawberry-blond with a hint of teasing in his voice, chuckling a little at his friend’s sharp response of “I’m not short, Jinguji! You’re just tall!” 

Haruka let out a small sigh of annoyance at this and lightly squeezed Eri’s hand in her own when she felt the little girl’s nervousness growing in an attempt to reassure her that she was safe. Another of the young men - one with short blue hair and a seemingly permanent scowl on his face - seemed to catch on to Haruka’s annoyance, still unaware of the other presence behind her, and scolded the two for their antics. 

“Before I go too far into discussing the sheet music, there’s someone I’d like for you all to meet,” Haruka began to explain. “She’s actually the main reason why I was running a little late today.”

The boys all turned to each other in a mix of confusion and excitement before they all watched as their composer tried to coax the girl behind her out. 

“It’s alright, Eri,” Haruka reassured. “Don’t be shy, they’re not going to hurt you.”

Eri nodded slowly, knowing that it was her cue to make an appearance. She took the deepest breath her little lungs could allow before nervously stepping out from behind the safety of the short orange-haired woman to where all seven young men could see her. 

“Hello,” she stammered slightly, not being able to help the anxiety flowing through her veins at that moment as she tried to introduce herself. “My name’s Eri.”

A few moments of awkward silence fell into the room before the face of a tall glasses-wearing blond lit up like a Christmas tree. Haruka nearly began to panic at the sight, knowing what he was planning to do as she remembered the first time they’d met back in high school many years prior. Luckily, another young man with short dark hair stopped him before she needed to worry about hiding the frightened little girl. 

“Don’t even think about it, Shinomiya,” he deadpanned, earning a pout from the taller of the two men. “You’ll scare her half to death!” 

“No, I won’t!” ‘Shinomiya’ replied with a huff before a smile slowly made its way to his face. “Besides, look at her! She’s almost as cute as Elizabeth and Piyo-chan combined!”

“I never thought I’d hear Natsuki say that, but here we are,” the final guy - a tan man with dark brown hair and green eyes - mumbled to himself before he turned his attention to the composer. “Haruka! Why didn’t you tell us you have a little sister?! And a cute one at that!” 

“Um... Cecil, you got the wrong idea....” Haruka tried to explain before being cut off by the guy with the hat.

“So you kidnapped her?!” shrieked the short blond. 

“Miss Haruka wouldn’t do that!” Eri responded, still a bit shaken from her current situation. “She’s just trying to help me find Dadzawa, not hurt me!” 

A small laugh bubbled out of the redhead before he chimed in, “Oh, I get it now! You got lost and Nanami was just trying to help you. Is that right, Nanami?” 

A nod from Haruka later and the guys seemed to calm down a little compared to the way they initially presented themselves before finding out about Eri’s presence. Then, the redhead had a realization.

“Wait, did we ever introduce ourselves to Eri yet?” he asked, leading to the rest of the group thinking for a moment before shaking their heads.

Somehow, that managed to slip the boys’ minds as they were more caught up in figuring out how Haruka and Eri managed to cross paths in the first place rather than attempting to make themselves more approachable. 

“Ittoki’s right,” the peacemaker between ‘Shorty’ and ‘Jinguji’ piped up. “I just can’t believe I’ve been so rude as to not introduce myself. Anyway, Eri, my name’s Masato Hijirikawa. I hope you can find it in your heart one day to forgive us for how we’ve acted so far.” 

“Oh! Can I go next?!” chirped the glasses-wearing blond before he crouched down to Eri’s level. “I’m Natsuki Shinomiya, but you can call me Na-chan if that’s easier for you. I just noticed the horn on your head! How cute! Just like a little unicorn! Oh, and that short guy over there-”

“I can introduce myself, thank you very much,” sneered the blond with the hat before he calmed himself down and directed his attention to Eri. “So sorry about Natsuki, he’s... he’s just like that. Anyway, I’m Syo Kurusu, the strongest member of STARISH!” 

“Okay, Shorty, she gets it, you’re compensating,” ‘Jinguji’ snickered a little - much to Syo’s dismay - before he turned his attention to Eri. “Nice to meet you, Little Fawn. My name is Ren Jinguji.” 

Eri’s eyes lit up a little at the sound of Ren’s voice. It sounded somewhat familiar to her, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on how she recognized his voice. Her wondering about Ren’s voice was interrupted not long after it began by the energetic redhead.

“Ren, you’re comparing Eri to a baby deer?” he asked. After Ren confirmed with a nod, the redhead laughed a little before adding, “That’s really cute, it suits her. Oh, right! I never told Eri my name! I’m Otoya Ittoki, it’s really nice to meet you!” 

“I think Natsuki was a bit closer with ‘Little Unicorn,’ but ‘Little Fawn’ is cute too,” the brunet remarked. “Eri, was it? I’m Cecil Aijima. Heh, Natsuki was right, you do look like a unicorn!” 

“My name’s Tokiya Ichinose,” the final guy spoke up. “Nice to meet you.”

Unsure of how to process all the information she had just received, Eri hid behind Haruka once again before slowly poking her head out. She wasn’t sure what to say or how to react as this was the first time in a long time she’d met so many people all at once. Doubt slowly crept into her mind as she tried to remember all the boys’ names. 

“It’s a lot to take in, isn’t it, Eri?” Otoya asked, earning a nod from the young girl. “It’s alright if you don’t remember all our names, we’ll help you with that. Especially since you’re staying with us until we find your family.”

“Otoya, we can’t let her stay here,” warned Tokiya. 

Confusion spread across the rest of the group’s faces at Tokiya’s comment, but then slowly turned to anger within the rest of the guys. 

“What do you mean by that, Ichi?” Ren hissed lowly. “We can’t just leave the Little Fawn to fend for herself, you know.”

“Yeah!” shouted Syo. “Give us one good reason why Eri can’t stay with us until we can get her back to her family!”

“Seriously?” Tokiya sighed as he pinched the bridged of his nose in annoyance before giving in to his fellow members’ demands. “Fine, if it’s one good reason you want, then it’s one good reason I’ll give you.”

Let's Talk: UtaPri and Information

Or I guess you could say "Broccoli and Information" but using UtaPri is easier I think... HERE'S THE POINT! I fully understand that UtaPri is a franchise based out of Japan and they typically want to stay there (in a way) because that is where a good # of fans live...no issue there. Here's the problem: The fandom is also WELL OUTSIDE OF THERE TOO!

UtaPri's reach is well past Japan at this point and they (the twitter handlers) need to figure out a way to convey information BETTER to those fans overseas (in my opinion). What caused this thought process? Let's talk

First and foremost let me state again that I am fully aware its bigger base is in Japan...got that and I'm good with that so no issues. The problem comes that ,when there is information to be shared (officially and not through leaks), we run into this issue of we need a twitter to translate information from the twitter or we need someone to fansub the stages. THIS ,in my opinion, is a big problem and has been since at least 7th Anniversary (you'll see why I picked that one in a second) The main twitter I think everyone and their brother follows in this fandom for information is the official UtaPri twitter which is where we get a lot of our news. The problem is that there are now 2 major twitters (that one and the HEAVENS twitter) that you have to follow because you see all the "Shining Agency" information is on the UtaPri twitter and the HEAVENS info is on the other one...rest assured the UtaPri one gets updated more but I'm sure if you headcanon a reason as to why it could make sense. Now I would have no issue with this...IF you didn't have to follow a THIRD account to read the translations of the news (if you didn't read the machine translations from Google). Its almost like Broccoli doesn't know how to convey the information proper to International fans so they literally rely on translators in the West to do it. And that's to say nothing about the Stages! Stages and Anniversaries are usually where we get the most amount of news from. The problem is we have to wait usually an obscene amount of time to get the news because ,no joke, if no one does the report on here (and someone used to I think) then you have to wait for the DVD/BDs to come out (because Broccoli doesn't know how to stream these things for fans outside of Japan still) and God help us with the fact that the DVDs are bloody expensive! Now you might be saying to yourself "Bro its not that deep" Alright...then tell me why ever since 5th Anniversary (Minimum) they tweet in English for western fans if they didn't want to include us...seems counterproductive don't it? UtaPri has a history of going "Dark" a lot and usually when they do you feel like they are setting up for something BIG and usually when they do drop the info we all get hyped to hell about it because we kind of know WHAT it is and we can sort of piece together how its going to go. I haven't started losing my mind about this upcoming project because ,despite the report from Anime News Network about it...I still don't understand WHAT is going to be done so I can't get "hype" for it until somehow I get better information which hopefully will be at either this Anniversary or 7th Stage Now let me back up to 7th Anniversary...why did I pick that? I picked that because ,before the platform change, the last bit of intel we got about the game "Dolce Vita" was HEAVENS was gonna be in it and I told you how I felt the reaction was on here about that and it wasn't "great" (or at least to me). Since the Platform change over from VITA to Switch we haven't heard much about it. Hell we finished the Debut port and I expected them to announce either All-Star or Dolce Vita was next but they didn't and that baffled me. Like I genuinely am concerned about that game project now since we hadn't heard anything about it! This past April Fools was interesting because of the fact that Broccoli went the route of doing a "Game" based on HEAVENS (and it was MESSED UP MAN) but I hope I am not reading too much into it that they are going to work on a Visual Novel game for them or ,at the very least, make a new Music series of games based off of HEAVENS Music because remember that in Music 3 we got the Mini game that was from an April Fools prank! Again though this is where they (Broccoli) don't communicate what is next for either side and rather go "If you know...then you know" And its like "No...no I really don't because I am waiting for you to spell it out!" Like at the very least HEAVENS needs the following Their own VN games Their own Music games Their own Anime Series Or their own stage Any of

these would be fine for them so we know where HEAVENS actually is in the pecking order of Broccoli's vision for UtaPri. I generally see Agematsu tweet about QN/STARISH but rarely see a tweet from Elements Garden in support of HEAVENS. I've no joke seen ONE in the past few years but that was just recently Again though this goes back to the whole "Information" flow that International fans don't get Either someone needs to set up a dedicated account that literally translates all the tweets from the UtaPri/HEAVENS twitters or Broccoli needs to hire someone to freaking translate the tweets for us so we can understand the next step without relying on translators and reports. That "flow" doesn't work because all it tends to do is create anxiety for the International base and its a problem but I don't know how to fixit *Cough*Streamthestagesoverseas*cough* Okay but for real I know that that can be a bit of a financial issue and the margin might not work considering there are those in the International fandom that run adblockers so I get that...I think though that there has to be a way by now for the fandom to get the show and enjoy it. A viewing scheduled to go off when everyone is awake would be nice instead of like 6 AM and then you take it down for reasons...shit GENESIS and Mamo kept shows up longer than that for God Sakes! Mamo showed Loving which was like a concert (at the time) that was only like 3 years old! Hell the first concert are out of print so there HAS to be a way to show those to Overseas fans now right?! Alright Alright I'll get off that but my point stands for Heaven sakes! UtaPri ,Broccoli ,King and whoever else involved in the running of the series needs to find a way to communicate with the International fans better. Hell KLab HAD the Game Station show but they axed that temporarily (and I couldn't understand Alex for the life of me to understand why...she needs to learn to speak up or get a mike on her or something) so we don't have any proper communication with KLab anymore which is weird and its just a problem. Maybe I'm the only one though. What do you all think? Does the twitters for UtaPri need to find ways to communicate with International fans better or are you okay with the flow of information we get now? Southern Cross Waltz

Pairing: Shinomiya Natsuki x female reader

Summary: A songfic inspired by Natsuki’s song ‘Southern Cross Waltz’. Natsuki looks back on their first meeting, before asking his girlfriend a very important question. 

Natsuki entered the room where they would be holding the photoshoot. No matter how many times he had a photoshoot, the atmosphere would always make him excited and eager to do his best. He politely greeted the staff as he passed them, and they greeted back. A woman with an earpiece in ran up to him.

“Shinomiya-san! I’m sorry, our photographer has not arrived yet. She got caught up in the traffic. Go ahead and get changed, I’ll send her to you once she’s arrived.”

Natsuki nodded and headed towards the changing room. The shoot would be promotion for a new brand of children's cookies, shaped like animals. Natsuki had received a sample of the cookies before the shoot and he was surprised at how good they tasted. He loved how all cookies were in the shape of cute animals. Much like the packaging of the cookies, Natsuki’s costume for the day was simple and had only soft colors.

Once Natsuki had changed into the costume, he exited the room to check the decor he would be shooting in. It seemed like a normal garden, but next to the shoot area were animal cages lined up. He quickly walked over to see a lot of cats and dogs, calmly waiting in their cages. He petted a few, until he heard someone call his name. The voice clearly belonged to a woman. Natsuki turned around, and his eyes widened. In front of him stood the cutest girl he had ever seen. She was a bit out of breath but was still smiling.

“I’m sorry I’m late, I’m Y/N, I’ll be your photographer today. I hope I haven’t made you wait for too long?” “Not at all, I just got changed.” “Oh, that’s a relief! I see you’ve found the animals? While she was explaining the shoot, Natsuki couldn’t look away from her face. She smiled brightly while she explained the concept of the shoot, and her eyes sparkled with excitement. Her eyes were a beautiful E/C, and Natsuki found himself lost in them.

“Shinomiya-san? Are you ready?” “Oh, yes, I am! Sorry, I spaced out there a bit.”

The woman laughed and got her camera from her bag, Natsuki watched her for a bit longer before moving to the set. He tried to focus on the shoot, but the beautiful photographer kept drawing his attention. He made a mental note to try to get her number before shifting his attention to the cat who was now pawing at his leg for attention.

Natsuki looked back fondly at their first meeting. He had gotten her number at the end of the day, and not a week after they had their first date. The two instantly clicked and they began dating in secret. Shining Entertainment still didn’t allow their idols to have relationships, but Natsuki truly felt like this woman was the one he was destined to meet, and he was not planning on letting her go over a stupid rule like that.

Months turned to years, and it didn’t take the members of Starish long to find out their friend was seeing someone. Syo was the first to know. He had entered their shared room and Natsuki hadn’t noticed him because he was too focused on his phone. Syo looked over Natsuki’s shoulder as he walked past him, noticing Natsuki looking at a bunch of pictures of a H/C girl, some of her alone and some of them together. Ren was the next one to find out. He had claimed Natsuki’s singing had become more passionate, especially the love songs. Natsuki turned bright red at the comment, which gave it away. After that Natsuki just told the others, knowing they’d eventually find out anyway. None of them told Shining. They were all very happy their friend had found his ‘soulmate’, as Natsuki called her. He didn’t like calling her his girlfriend, as she felt like so much more than just a girlfriend to him.

And today, Natsuki wanted to make sure of that.

He and Y/N were out on another date. They had just had a lovely dinner, and right now Natsuki was walking her home. He urged her to take a little detour, because he ‘wanted to talk to her longer’. Of course, this was true too, but it was not the real reason he wanted to take the detour. He checked his pocket for the little navy box he had been hiding all day, before taking her hand and guiding her to a little park in the center of the city. The park had a little lake, which perfectly reflected the full moon in the sky above them. Natsuki took out his phone and turned on some calm music before asking Y/N to dance with him. She laughed, but accepted. There was no one else in the park at this hour, and Natsuki felt the time had stopped around them.

“I love you.”

He whispered silently, just loud enough for Y/N to hear. From the very first time Natsuki said those words to her, she’d always blush whenever she heard them. In the beginning she’d avert her eyes too, but she stopped doing that a few years ago. She kept looking him in the eye and smiled, leaning up to for a kiss. Natsuki leaned down a bit to meet her halfway.

“I love you too.”

She whispered back once they parted. Being with her like this in the moonlight made Natsuki feel like he was dreaming. He stopped dancing and took a step back from Y/N. She gave him a confused look, which soon turned to surprise when he dropped down to one knee in front of her.

“Y/N, I fell in love with you when you first called my name all those years ago. Even after an eternity has passed, I wouldn’t want to leave your side. Please, will you marry me?”

Natsuki pulled the box out of his breast pocket and opened it, revealing a beautiful ring. Y/N’s eyes started tearing, and while the first tears fell down from her eyes, she nodded and whispered a ‘yes’.

Natsuki smiled and took her hand, putting the ring on her finger before wrapping his arms around her and kissing her once again. Finally, he could stop referring to her as his girlfriend and start referring to her as his wife.

Ren x Reader: A relaxing day~

You arrived home late at night. You had been almost every night for the past month.

Ren, although lonely, is very understanding as all you want to do is scarf down some leftovers and go to sleep. He has laid pajamas out on the bed for you. He kisses you goodnight and you drift quickly to sleep, dreading the next day of back to back commitments.

You wake up to the sun shining in through your windows. How beautiful... wait...The sun? You are supposed to be up and out the door before the sun even rises- it’s so LATE.

Scrambling and screaming you start to get dressed, haphazardly putting on yesterday’s clothes. Ren appears at the door.

“What’s the rush Lady?” Ren teases. You look at him confused and panicked, “Why didn’t you wake me if you were home- why are you home too?!!”

Ren laughs and walks over to pick you up. He gets back into bed with you, holding you close. “You have nothing to attend to today” Ren states matter of factly, “I’ve cleared all of your, and my own, commitments today. You need to rest.”

A day of rest? It had been a while... you wonder how Ren managed to do that, but you don’t ask as you snuggle closer. The idea of just resting tempts you as you drift back to sleep

When you wake up, Ren is no longer in bed. Smells of delicious breakfast foods alert you to where he is. As you make your way to the kitchen Ren is adding the finishing touches to a delicious meal. Ever the romantic, Ren knows how to win someone over with food.

Ren spoils you the rest of the day. He’s bought your favorite movie for you both to watch. You two partake in other fun activities 👀. He orders you both takeout for dinner. All day you just rest and have fun together.

Later that evening as you two cuddle, Ren says, “You know y/n, I adore my job with Starish. Starish was the first thing in my life I wanted to give my 100% to. But in order to do that, in order to give my fans an amazing experience, I learned I need to rest and have fun too.”

As soon as it clicks, he’s latching onto you in a tight, desperate hug, immediately blurting out that he feels just the same way. He’s so happy to hear your confession that he can barely take it-- he’s been crushing on you for just as long, if not longer, so it’s a complete relief. 

Masato:

-He immediately blushes a rather dark shade of pink, stuttering out a response to the best of his ability. He doesn’t know how to react to such a confession, especially because he’s been feeling exactly the same way for longer than he’d want to admit. It’s bizarre to think that you could be just as in love with him, but that’s also a feeling that has his head spinning with happiness. 

Natsuki:

-He almost cries. As what amounts to your slave, he never would have a chance to be with you unless you made the first move. Your confession means that he might actually have a chance, and for that, he’s so, so grateful. He wants to hug you more than anything... and eventually gives in to that desire, snuggling his face against your hair, and thanking you. 

Tokiya:

-He freezes up a bit, processing what you said. When it sinks in, he relaxes visibly, giving a little laugh of pure relief. He thought that he’d have to live with loving you silently forever. You confessing first means that he might actually be allowed to have the feelings he’s formed over so long. You’re kind enough that you might actually want him to love you in that way. 

Ren:

-At first, he’s hesitant. There’s no reason for someone like you to care that deeply for what amounts to a slave. But there’s genuine affection in your eyes, and before long, Ren caves. He wants to believe that you really do love him-- he’s loved you too, for much longer than he’d ever say. He responds with a smile, assuring you that he accepts your feelings. 

Syo:

-He blushes quite a bit, but gets just as excited. He can’t believe that you’re actually confessing to him. It feels like a dream come true. He doesn’t really know how to react, but he hopes that thanking you and immediately spilling that he feels just the same way will be good enough. He’s smiling wide, visibly delighted with the confession and the return of feelings. 

Cecil:

-He has to let it sink it for a moment, but when it does, he’s breaking into a smile, taking your hands, and telling you directly that he feels just the same way. In his mind, you should understand that he’s loved you for so, so long-- but was afraid to say anything because of the difference in position. It’s hard to believe that you could love him, but it seems to be real.
