30 Day Writing Challenge: 27. Write an ending without a beginning

So this was going to be my angst entry, but I started it towards the end instead of the beginning and then I realized there's so much more I need to write ahead of this that it's my ending without a beginning. Eventually I will add the start and put it in my "Making A Go Of It" series.

Why was he asking her to stay? Selfish reasons, he knew, but she loved him. She’d told him and he hadn’t been able to say the words back and it had broken her heart. And then he’d thrown himself headfirst into the fight and nearly died. Would have died without Wong taking immediate care of him. And he asked her to stay.

He was a selfish bastard and he didn’t deserve her.

The door opened and the woman he was thinking about, all the damn time it seemed, walked in. “I have soup in a cup, orange juice and a protein shake,” she said. His jaw had been one of the few bones not broken but it still hurt to talk and eat.

“Stay,” he said.

“I will. When you’re healed, I’ll make arrangements to finalize the divorce with Matt and Foggy’s firm and then I’ll go back to England. We can pretend we were never married.

“Stay,” he said, more insistently this time. “Love...you.”

Her eyes widened. “You love me?”

“Yes.”

“Oh, Stephen. I can’t believe this. I thought it was...I wasn’t sure what to think. And then you got hurt!” She was crying and he would have given anything to wipe her tears away. “I’ll stay. Of course I’ll stay.” She set the tray down, wiped her eyes, and then carefully cradled his cheek in her hand. “I still love you, Stephen. I think I have since I came looking for the divorce. I’ll stay.”

"Good," he said softly, leaning into her touch and shutting his eyes. Maybe the roiling in his heart would stop and the damning conversation with Christine would stop haunting him. He could only hope.

Star Trek has had an amazing range of guest stars from astronauts to athletes to musicians to the king of Jordan. Eliminating other actors - who would you want to see next?

These are just a few I came up with in a morning of brainstorming, but this is a super open ended question and I would love to hear your ideas!

Also I just think it would be funny of George Lucas showed up, but realistically I don’t like him that much and think there are others who would make more interesting guests.

A Sherlolly/Jane Eyre mashup! Yes, that one!! Mentioned many moons ago but that is well under way! Using the music from a show Louise Brealey appeared in: A Discovery of Witches. A brilliant show that everyone should watch.

A Siegfried/Audrey tribute. The music has been chosen (but keeping it a secret because it would be giving too much away) and I am enjoying every second I’ve figured out so far. They are such a delight.

A Ted/Rebecca tribute. Combined with another one of Cumberbatch’s finest. I found that a scene from The Electrical Life of Louis Wain captured the essence of who Ted and Rebecca are to each other very nicely. I can’t change what the show did, but I can honour the love that these two shared.

I concede that fanfiction usually has a happy ending. But I am dying to write a tragedy. I want to make people cry. I wanna cry while writing it. I want an empty hole in my soul and a pain in my chest because I feel the suffering of the characters so viscerally that I feel it like it's my own.

I want to write Steven Strange realizing too late that his FWBs is actually the love of his life, but only when she's dying in his arms.

I want to write Severus Snape meeting Hermione in the past, growing up and waiting for when his memory of her and the present would come together, only for Severus to be cut down the moment she returns.

I want to write Sherlock Holmes realizing he loved Molly Hooper on her wedding day and having to watch her finally walk away from him, and knowing it's the better choice.

I want to write Loki meeting his match, only to watch her slowly fall in love with his brother and he with her, while he works through his rejection and ultimately his hope that they find happiness even if it breaks his heart.

I WANT AND NEED A GOOD CRY AND I MAY FORCE IT OUT OF ME

Steve had his eyes on the pretty bookstore employee and he finally took his chances...

There was nothing I hated more than the bitter cold months early in the year in Hawkins. It was something I could never get used to despite having moved here 5 years ago. It was probably my least favourite part of the year.

It was a typical Monday and you were on your way to the bookstore I worked for. It was mid day before any real customers came in. I spent most of your shift organizing and putting away new inventory. The bell in the door chimes as I’m in the middle of sorting through a box of new books when someone clears their throat.

I glance up to be greeted by a boy with some of the most perfectly quaffed hair I had ever seen along with big brown eyes that looked like a puppy. "Uh, hi. I was looking for this Stephen King book," He is looking down at a piece of paper reading off the title to the book Carrie. I nodded, "Oh we just got that in yesterday follow me!" I say with a small smile heading over to the counter and beginning to head to the back room where a new box of that very book was sitting sealed in the back.

I quickly grabbed a copy after unsealing the box and came back out seeing the boy who seemed so familiar whom I couldn't quite place nervously looking around. "Here we are," I say setting the book on the counter, "Was that going to be everything you needed?" I asked tilting my head to the side observing him. He glanced at me and gave a small smile "Awesome great. Yeah this will be it," he said drumming his fingers on the counter as I quickly ring him up.

"So, I was wondering," He begins as before I could read his total. "I know this is going to sound incredibly random and I totally don't want to freak you out, but I think you're kind of cute and I was curious if you maybe were interested in going out some time?" He said quickly a nervous edge to his voice. I look at him slightly surprised. Then I realize whom I was looking at. He was one of the clerks over a Family Video on the other side of the shopping center. I had seen him every so often when I went in to browse.

I was taken aback considering other times when I appeared in store he appeared to be chatting up a pretty girl about the latest Molly Ringwald film. I look at him seeing that he's anxiously waiting some sort of response to the burning question on his mind. I give a small smile and shrug my shoulders, "Sure I mean, why not? Of course if I do go out with you, I fully expect to have the ability to take advantage of your Family Video discount."

He huffs out a small laugh, "Sure sweetheart, whatever you want." I giggled, "Already laying it on heavy with the pet names huh?" He shrugs, "What can I say a man can help himself around someone so cute. And in case the name on my name tag was forgettable, I'm Steve, by the way," he holds out his hand and takes mine shaking it softly, "And I look forward to our date. Can I take you out on Friday?"

"Yeah that sounds perfect," I say and soon we finish up the transaction and Steve grabs his book with a receipt slipped in with my phone number before heading out the door giving me a quick wave before he leaves. I see him making his way to his car through the glass door and seeing him subtly punching his fist into the air. I couldn't help the smile.
