Something a little different; it’s a Steven Universe Rick & Morty crossover.

Just a little warm up to kickstart my drawing process again. 🤦🤦🤦

I have this headcanon where Steven and Morty’s fusion will wield control over people’s emotions, one’s that are specifically directed towards rising anxiety and impulsive natures.

If this doesn’t make sense, well… do you remember the season finale to Steven Universe Future?

What if all the gems in the vicinity close to Steven all expressed their deepest feelings at that moment because it was the development to another one of Steven’s powers?

What if…

Steven can send out waves of his emotions to other gems. Similar to Blue Diamond.

Now that’s just the start. What if his powers also affect humans because he’s technically still half human.

If you probably noticed, I tried blurring out the last sketch so you can hardly see it.

I’ve seen a decent number of comments on social media lately that boil down to “I can’t get into a show where the main character is kind of problematic, and I feel morally superior about it,” and I’m starting to think some of you missed the part in English class where we learned “Main character≠Protagonist≠Good guy.”

I’m not just talking about character flaws either, some main characters are straight up meant to be bad people. Sometimes it’s about them going through a redemption arc, but sometimes they’re just as shitty as the antagonist, and that’s the point.

I think one of my favorite things about modern cartoons of the 2010's - 2020's is the amount of great characters that came out of this era of cartoons.

Gym Leaders, Kahuna/Trial Captains, and E4/Champs ranked by how likely they are to kill you. Mostly based on vibes.

Piers and Morty because of how Piers was 🤏 this close to having Obstagoon slit the throats of the Royal Brothers in Adventures, and Morty from him beating the tar out of some Rockets in Masters when they were selling fake Ho-Oh feathers, even was ready to take it further until Silver intervened.

Lance generally tries to keep it non-lethal, but Steven is noted to have a merciless side and in the anime, nearly had his Mega Metagross ram straight into Mable (who barely dodged and was sent flying in its wake), blowing up a potentially occupied building behind her. (I'm pretty sure he came to put a stop to Lysandre himself.)

Giovanni, Surge, Nanu, and Koga as part of their lines of work. Surge even boasts about electrocuting people during the war, and we know Nanu killed a Guzzlord after it ate that Faller girl he worked with. In Masters, Malva disarms a pair of Rocket grunts of their Pokemon so they can't protect themselves, and then smiles as Lysandre implicitly brutally executes them, plus there's her desire to incinerate the XY player after we took down Flare.

(The "Would Beat the Crap out of You" tier is a mix of thrown hands and using Pokemon.)
