The final fight between Sonic and Nine reminded me of Steven and Spinel's fight in the SU movie 😆
This is a sneak peek of what I've been working on all week. It's still a work in progress, since all the sketches are rough and unfinished (and I was too lazy to draw Nine's mechanical tails 😅). I'm currently working on the second part of the song, because I'm leaving the fight sequence for last.

I choose No;Older Sibling cause it just be like that sometimes. Spinel was right to mad about it though.
Edit: My genuine thought is that this is her attempt to grow up not just because she was given a planet, but because she doesn't want to be the Diamond who throws tantrums that hurt her loved ones after her accident with Pink Pearl. So she decides to distance herself from Spinel in an attempt to not hurt anyone else, to grow up so that she doesn't crack anyone else again(a value she carries with her for the rest of her life).
Her flaw was not considering Spinel's wants and needs. Cuz she gonna follow her instructions literally and no matter how nice that garden was Spinel needs social interaction. I just dislike the notion that Pink Diamond didn't care at all or just forgot about Spinel. She is very caring but doesn't know how to care for the people/gems she loves.

Tim brings a new enemy/friend(?) to show to Jason, Steph, and Damian
Tim: Here she is. My new best friend
Steph: *confused* I thought you said she was just trying to kill you.
Damian: Wow. Quick turn around.
Jason: Yeah, no kidding. It took me months to stop trying to kill Tim.
Steph: I say it took me a day, day-and-a-half.
Damian: *shrugs* I’m still on the fence
Damian, Jason, and Steph: *laughing*
Tim: …

I didn't hate Abigal, it was a lot of fun!
I was sick the week Abigail released, so I'm just watching it now because I'm not going to see the new Planet of the Apes, I haven't seen any of them yet.
Now THIS is how you do a Dracula's daughter story.
If you know anything about the movie going into it, you know what's coming, but they make you wait for it to actually happen. Making Hitchock's bomb a cute little girl? Bloody genius.
Abigail is a fun, exciting, bloody vampire movie. It's got to be hard to make an original and unique vampire movie these days, but I think Abigail did a good job of blending a Gothic tone with a modern gorefest vibe.
The soundtrack was pretty good, not quite outstanding, but not bad. The use of music (a la Tchaikovsky) was fun and really set the mood.
The casting was great. Giancarlo Esposito was very Giancarlo Esposito-y, Kathryn Newton was funny and made me want to watch Lisa Frankenstein even more (new horror queen?). Kevin Durand was great as "the muscle." Dan Stevens looked like he had a lot of fun. William Catlett and Angus Cloud were both solid. But of course the standouts are Melissa Barerra, definitely a horror queen, and Alisha Weir in the title role. It takes skill to make an audience believe a 12 year old girl is actually a centuries old vampire, but Alisha did it.
Spoilers below.
I feel like others might disagree, but I honestly loved the pacing of the movie. With how long it took for them to show Abigail as a vampire, it really gave time to get to know the characters.
The way they set the tone really somehow made it feel like a classic Universal horror, but it also felt fresh and modern too. Little things like the creepy basement, the rats(?), the big library, the statue garden thing. It really felt like they were in a house that someone had been living in for a looooong time.
I honestly love how two people died before Abigail ever bared her fangs. It really helped sell the idea that she was just playing with them. And the black guy didn't die first! It is kind of sickly ironic that Angus Cloud's character was the first to go (RIP), but I mean, bro was an absolute idiot.
I'm still not sure who my favorite character is, I really just loved the ensemble. I will say, I figured out the Rat Pack joke before Peter, not too long before, but still before.
I love when modern monster movies reference the lore, but make it their own. Like they reference all the stuff that kills vampires but only a couple of them actually work, the rest are just part of the legends.
I wasn't expecting to actually root for Abigail toward the end, but I loved the respect the was shared between her and Joey.
Those Ready or Not guys really love making people explode like bloody water balloons. I mean, what a way to go, I guess.

Trauma in Kid's Media
It occurs to me that between shows and movies for kids to teen audiences like Steven Universe, Nimona, and, most recently, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, lots of shows seem to be tackling straight-up Trauma leveled upon their young protagonists. Not just anxiety, but serious traumatic circumstances. [Note: PANIC Attacks also done EXCEPTIONALLY well in the Puss in Boots sequel]
And seeing it handled as a legitimate, non-PSA topic, as a whole and complete motif in these pieces of media, DOES make me happy. It does. It pleasantly astounds me to see it tackled with so much grace. It's just...
Yea, it feels like recently, it's been hard for kids to get away from the absolutely encroaching trauma of how the world is, especially to vulnerable communities. Nimona is a very clear send-off to the queer community, canonized by Nate. Moon Girl very much addresses the issues faced by black communities on an everyday basis. And Steven Universe confronts authoritarian, oppressive ideology and its harms.
It's helpful for kids to see they're not alone in this hurt. I just wish it didn't feel like its necessary for so many of them.

Just watched the owl house finally and noticed one thing: Every great recent cartoon keeps doing a time skip and that makes me wanna see a spin-off epilogue season Anyone else?
examples: Steven universe,Amphibia, Owl house, Kipo
I especially wanna see more kipo.
OK so heads up for a minor owl house spoiler,
I love time skips because it shows that years later everything is still OK and its going to stay OK. Also! Luz is my age now. I feel like I grew with her in some way, and everyone who started watching the show that was ger age has ended it with her. And the idea of spinoffs of any of the above shows is something I'd gladly watch or read.

i know this is an unpopular opinion but Spinel is very overated, and i actually feel uncomfortable about how many people completly take her side. she lost my pity the moment she thoght it was okay to take her personal hurt and anger towards one person as an excuse to hurt a bunch of strangers and destroy an entire planet. i dont care what that one person did. its no excuse, and most of the fandom seems to think it is
