I was inspired by @ukelele-boy ‘s winged Apollo, with scythe, and their art style so I chose to draw winged Apollo myself! Ukelele told me to add the scythe so credit to them for that! I’ve never really drawn wings before, but for my first time it was pretty fun!

On Ships
I know, I know, no one cares about my opinions except me. But I’ll be damned if I don’t try to put my thoughts into words.
I am a shipper to my CORE!!! I love romantic relationships, always have, and I will CLING to any semblance of one if it’s canon or not!
What I want to say, though, is that ships don’t work unless the characters themselves do
Let me elaborate.
Character development is very important to me, and one thing I feel like people sometimes forget when building worlds is building relationships between characters that aren’t romantic. And I get that! I absolutely do. But the thing is
Characters are people outside of their ships.
That’s one of the reasons I adore a good friends to lovers moment, and I’ll use the classic Percabeth as an example.
Percy Jackson, as the main character, narrator, and protagonist of the first Riordanverse series, is well developed and expanded upon. BUT, even though Annabeth Chase winds up as his romantic interest, that’s not all she is.
Both of them have histories and friendships apart from each other, character traits that make up their personalities and vices, and they’re COMPLEMENTARY. That’s why they work. Because they’re their own characters.
For me, the best ships come from mutual understanding of one another, and compatibility in whatever situation the canon puts them in. Mutual interest, common ground, whatever it may be, I feel like the best relationships are founded in friendship; strong apart, but even stronger together.
No one asked, but that’s what really makes a ship to me

HOW YOU GET THE CURL
masterlist | rules
❝ idk if you’d do percy but with curly blonde hair (like pjo series ver perce) but if you do, i’d love a fic where he teaches y/n how to maintain curly hair (she doesn’t have curly hair) cause he loves the idea of her taking care of him ❞ — anon
in which percy teaches you how to take care of curly hair
pairing percy jackson x fem!reader
warnings none
on the radio . . . romeo & juliet (peter mcpoland), san fransisco (be sure to wear some flowers in your hair) (scott mckenzie), sunflower, vol 6 (harry styles), slow dancing (aly & aj), our house (crosby, stills, nash & young)
an can someone pls tell me the titles sooo smart and funny 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
“Honey, I’m home!” As soon as you heard Percy yell those words from your front door, you left the comfort of the couch and ran into his arms. He immediately put his bags down and picked you up, twirling you around before peppering kisses all over your face.
Life in New Rome couldn’t be any better. After the two of you got into the same university, your parents bought you an apartment to share so you wouldn’t have to be separated in university dorms, knowing all too well how you were attached at the hip. You had cried at the gesture, and Percy held you in his arms as he, too, held back tears.
A wide grin on his face, he asked, “how’s my favourite girl?” As he unpacked everything he’d bought that day, you gave him a rundown of your day. It was pretty mundane - some reading, some studying - but he listened as if you were describing the plot to a sci-fi movie. Your eyes quickly took in everything laid out on the counter, mostly groceries, and landed on one bottle.
You picked it up and read the label while Percy explained what it was, happy you were amused, “that’s a new curl cream. The one I’ve been using’s a little too heavy for my hair, always weighing my curls down. I think I’m gonna try it today, do you wanna do the honours?”
“Honours of what?” You asked, confused. You didn’t have curly hair, so you didn’t know much about the effort that went into taking care of it, just that it required a lot of different products and was incredibly laborious, according to Percy. His curls were really cute though, so in your opinion, the labour was worth it.
Making his way over to you and wrapping his arms around you, Percy batted his eyelashes, “of trying it on me. I’ve been thinking, babe, you need to know how to do curly hair for when we have kids! Curly hair genes run strong in my family, so I wouldn’t be surprised if our kids inherit them.”
You felt your face heat up as you thought about having kids with Percy, then smiled fondly when you realised what he was doing. Percy’s always been incredibly shy about wanting to be cared for. No matter how many times you’d tell him you didn’t mind giving him a massage or going over his maths homework, he’d always try to conceal his true intentions with some other lame excuse, like now.
“Okay! Let’s go do it now,” you said, dragging him over to your bathroom. You grabbed a stool for him to sit on and stood between him and the bath, hand-held shower head in hand (I hope this setup makes sense LOL). Making sure the water was the perfect temperature, you began rinsing his hair, careful to make sure no water dripped down his body. While you did so, Percy told you about his day. You always loved his knack for storytelling, your boyfriend never failed to find a way to make anything sound interesting.
Next, you squirted some of his shampoo on your hand and began lathering it in his hair. You felt Percy relax and smiled, glad he was content, “it’s okay to want to be taken care of, Perce. I’ll do it gladly,” you mumbled absentmindedly, to which he simply hummed. As you conditioned his hair, he began to doze off, which made you reconsider using the cream. You didn’t trust yourself to use it without his guidance, but didn’t want to wake him up.
In the end, you decided on disrupting his sleep, since you knew he wouldn’t be able to sleep that night if he slept now, “how do I do this?”
Percy took your hand and squirted some of the cream into your open palm, “rub it into both hands, then scrunch it into my hair.” You did as you were told, your hands light as too little was better than too much, in case you did something wrong.
When Percy looked into the mirror, he turned to you and smiled, “hey, you’re a natural! You should do this all the time” He asked, his eyes bleary. You would do this a million times if it made him this happy every single one of them.
After the cream came the gel, which was a lot easier since it was the same scrunching motion as before. You were a little apprehensive when Percy told you to put it in, since you didn’t think crunchy curls were the outcome. However, it all made sense during the final stage: the hair oil.
“This, my love, is what stops them from being all crunchy. Just lightly pass it over my hair,” Percy explained, pouring the tiniest amount of oil into your palm. You recognised the scent - it smelled like home, like him.
You finished and admired your work. Percy was right, you were pretty good at taking care of curly hair. After running his fingers through his hair a couple times to loosen the curls up the way he liked, Percy gave you a hug, kissing your head thousands of times and saying a muffled, “thank you,” into your hair.
Nothing was more blissful than this. Well, until you smelt something burning.
Pulling away from you, Percy asked, “did you make something?” You wracked your brain for an answer then gasped, remembering what it was. Running to the kitchen with Percy behind you, you quickly pulled the cookies you were baking - once blue, now black - out of the oven.
“I wanted to surprise you with these!” You said, disappointed.
Fighting the urge to cough, Percy picked one up and bit into it, grimacing for a second before smiling and holding a thumbs up, “it’s really unique, I’ve never tasted anything like these. You definitely did surprise me!” He said, sarcasm dripping from his voice Rolling your eyes, you discarded the cookies and replied, “oh, shut up, Perce”

Being the Son of Calliope, headcanons…
Tumblr media
PJO x Male Reader (No romantic pairing)
Warnings: None…
Summary: You’re the son of the goddesss of epic poetry and eloquence and One of the Nine Muses…
(A/n: I know I was meant to work on other stuff but I got distracted.)
(Song is unrelated to the story but it felt Muses coded so…)
——
You were the only half-blood at camp related to one of the Muses, specifically Calliope, the Goddesss of Epic Poetry and Eloquence.
When you had gotten to camp you used to stay in Cabin 11, even though you’d been claimed, there was no cabin for you. So you ended up bunking with Travis Stoll.
But after the war with the titans and Percy’s demands to Zeus to the gods, a cabin dedicated to the Nine Muses had been built.
You being made the counsler… not that there were any other options…
The cabin was great tho, it was decorated with statues and carvings of the muses and their symbols. There were paintings hung of their famous demigods too such as Orpheus, Hyacinthus and Linus
The cabin had a big book case with novels, plays, comedies, tradgedies, poetry. A soundproof dance studio, a spundproof music room with a bunch of instruments, a sky window to study the stars.
Basically everything associated with the Muses.
——
If you had a nickel for everytime someone had tried to pick you by saying ”you were their muse” or that ”you had inspired” the poem, song or novel they wrote… you’d be richer than Hades.
You were particullarly popular amongst the Apollo cabin who seemed to think you were some kind of key to overcome creative blocks. Will Solace, their counselor, needed to keep them in check since they all seemed interested in you in one way or the other.
Athena’s and Hephaestus’s cabins were also drawn to you for your creativety.
——
You would however end up being paired with the Apollo cabin to lead the campfire sing-alongs, you usually end up with a solo song telling the dramatic story of some greek hero.
Imagine something like ”The Gosphel Truth” from ”Hercules”, with the Apollo cabin acting as you back up singers.
——
As for your powers, you were far from the strongest of demigods, but you were by no means weak.
You had a natrual talent for the arts, singing, dancing, poetry, instruments, etc…
As the son of the goddess of Eloquence you could cast minor short lasting curses on people that would effect their speaking, that could for example cause them to only speak in rhymes and limericks or make them unable to finish long sentences before drifting off.
Your swordfighting style would be noted by the other campers to be quite different, while they fought normally with their swords, Percy described your style more as a ”VERY deadly and sharp dance”.
Being related to the muses you also had an aura that could induce inspiration and creativity in someone (so maybe the Apollo cabin was on to something with their interest in you).
Though that power worked both ways as you could also curse someone with creative block.
——
Unlike most demigods, you’re mother showed up quite often to advice you whenever you had a problem… and she didn’t come alone.
Let’s say you’re in your cabin and you’re sad after having an argument with a friend.
Well… then all the 9 statues of the Muses in the cabin come to life and start singing a pop-soul number about why friendship is important and you should make up with your friend.
It’s was quite terrifying the first few times it happened but you get used to it after a while.
Being one of the Muse’s son is pretty much like being all of their son.
(A/n 2: Sorry, this is shorter than i usually write and is more so a collection of small headcanons for a Son of Calliope!Reader than a full on fic.)

One | Two | Three
I am once again posting hfjkds
Anyway! Here's the next PJO AU! We get to see some interactions between Steve and some goddesses, some more hints at El's parent, and some Steddie at the end
Stick around to the very end for a meme!
As always, if you see any typos, no you didn't ;)
----
Five Weeks Before Meeting Eddie
Steve and the kids are spread out across a department store in Pennsylvania when he, Lucas, and Erica run into the most aesthetically pleasing woman any of them have ever seen. Her face is almost otherworldly, and Steve can't find any blemishes or imperfections in her dark skin. Her hair is a perfect afro, bouncy and decorated with little heart-shaped clips made of real gemstones, the kind of style Erica keeps trying for but always falls short of. She's wearing a short dress; it's orange, flows nicely around her knees, and is paired with white wedges.
The sight of her strikes all of them a little dumb, too distracted by appreciating her beauty to wonder why she seemed to show up out of nowhere. To their credit, Erica and Steve manage to avert their gazes when the woman's eyes glance over them. Lucas, however, continues to stare, his head tilted and his brows furrowed in thought before he lights up with recognition.
"Mom!" he exclaims, dropping the windbreaker in his hands. He smiles brightly as he rushes over, stopping just short of running into the woman. "What are you doing here?"
The woman, who Steve now realizes is Aphrodite, smiles at Lucas with a genuine warmth that relaxes him a little. "Hello, dear," she says, her voice clear and soothing as she cups Lucas's cheek and tilts his head up. "You're looking lively."
"I've been having a lot of fun," he tells her. Lucas then looks over his shoulder and waves Erica and Steve over. "This is Steve. He's been protecting us."
Erica rushes over ahead of Steve, not bothering to hold herself back from hugging Aphrodite's waist like Lucas. She buries her face in her mother's dress as the hug is returned. "I haven't seen you in years," Aphrodite says, pulling back enough to crouch in front of Erica and study her. "You've been growing so well."
"Do you like my hair?" Erica asks, showing a rare childish side as she gestures to her afro-puffs. "Steve helped!"
And this seems to be Steve's cue to introduce himself. When Aphrodite looks up and stands, he smiles politely and nods to her. "Hi, nice to meet you," he says, wondering if he's being too informal. The other goddesses he's met didn't seem to mind, though, and Aphrodite's smile reassures him.
"And you as well, Steve. Thank you for looking after my children all this time," she says, placing one hand on Erica's head and the other on Lucas's shoulder. "I've heard about you from the other goddesses and just had to see what the fuss was about."
"There's a fuss?" Steve asks. He's not sure it's such a good thing for the gods on Olympus to be talking about him. "All good, I hope."
"Good enough," Aphrodite says, her smile dimming slightly as she takes a deep breath. She looks down at Erica and Lucas. "Why don't you two go find something nice? It'll be a gift from me."
Lucas doesn't immediately understand what she means, but Erica does. She nods once and grabs Lucas's hand. "C'mon, I wanna look at the video games," she says, dragging him along.
Once they're out of earshot, Aphrodite looks at Steve. Her smile has become polite. "I truly am grateful that you've been taking care of them," she says, and Steve starts to get a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach, "but I must ask that you take them back to their father."
"What? Why?" Steve asks, frowning slightly.
Aphrodite sighs and crosses her arms loosely. "Several reasons, really," she says. "You attract monsters, Steve. I mean, you are his child. Lucas and Erica were safe at home, surrounded by human children and their human father. Not to mention, your...sister."
Steve tenses, his nerves on edge with just one word. "What about my sister?" he asks, narrowing his eyes slightly. There isn't much he can do against a goddess, but he isn't scared to fight one for any of the kids, especially his sister.
"Well, I'm sure she's a very nice girl," Aphrodite starts, her voice soft and placating, but it doesn't change the anger her words incite. "But that doesn't change the danger my children are in because of her."
Knowing where this was going does nothing to quell the anger that simmers in Steve at her words. "My sister is not a danger to anybody," he says. Then he considers the words and adds, "Well, she's only a danger to the people who threaten her and her loved ones, which includes your children."
Aphrodite sighs once more, her bottom lip jutting out just slightly in what Steve knows should be a sympathetic pout, but it just comes across as patronizing. "She cannot control her powers. One slip-up, and my children ar--"
"She doesn't slip up," Steve says, interrupting Aphrodite, "El, of all people, is the most aware of herself." He takes a deep breath, trying to calm himself when he feels the anger crackling under his skin. Too much more and the sky will start to cloud over with thunder and lightning. "I get your concerns, but El isn't a danger."
He looks up at Aphrodite in time to see her frown, and even that expression is beautiful on her. "It doesn't matter how self-aware she is. Slipping is inevitable, and she will face my wrath if my children are hurt. That is a promise, Steve."
If Steve has learned anything from reading myths, it's that he shouldn't anger the gods, and he especially shouldn't anger the goddesses. But now El has been threatened. His sister, one of his kids, has been threatened. So, you know, he can probably be forgiven for what he says next.
"If you touch El or any of the other kids, I swear to the gods, I will make your fit over the golden apple look like a tadpole's temper tantrum," he says, his voice low as he glares at Aphrodite.
He watches as her shoulders rise, leaning back slightly, and her expression morphs into something mixed between angry and dumbfounded. "Did you just threaten me?" she asks.
Steve sees the question for what it is: a chance to take back his words and pretend they never happened. All things considered, it's generous and unexpected from a goddess. Steve doesn't actually care, though. "Yeah, I did. Those kids are under my care, even if they are little shits most of the time. I've fought for them and almost died for them multiple times. Anything that wants to hurt one of them has to go through me, whether that's monsters or gods. So, don't threaten them, because I'd hate to fight you in front of Lucas or Erica."
In the silence that follows, bland pop music plays over the department store's speakers, reminding Steve of where they are. He really just threatened Aphrodite in the middle of Macy's. Well, at least this will be a fun story to tell later.
"Well," Aphrodite finally says, sniffing once and looking down at Steve, "your arrogance is familiar." She lets that dig about Steve's godly parent rest between them for a few seconds. "Fine. I hope neither of us will ever have to act on our threats."
"Yeah. Me, too," Steve says, that anger starting to calm to a subtle buzz.
Aphrodite nods once. "The others were right about you. You are entertaining, and I can...respect your protectiveness regarding the children. I don't like you, though."
"I'll be honest, the feeling is mutual right now."
Their gazes hold for a few more seconds before Aphrodite nods once more in acknowledgment. Steve's anger fully settles then, disappearing until the next time his emotions start to stir. "I'm going to accompany Lucas and Erica for a while and get them some new clothes. I'll send them to you when we're done," she says, turning on her heel and walking in the direction that Erica pulled Lucas before Steve can respond.
He watches her leave, a frown tugging at his lips before he sighs. That meeting didn't go great, but it definitely could have been worse. Steve turns and goes to find El, needing to reassure himself that she's safe before he can completely relax.
----
Eddie gets to see Steve's favor with the goddesses in action on the second day of driving. The kids are starting to argue more than talk, and Eddie will admit that he needs to stretch his legs, so Steve agrees that it's time to stop and find a hotel.
"Can we get one with a pool?" Max asks, having to shout from the back row of seats to make sure Steve hears her.
Steve glances at her in the rearview mirror before sighing. "Yeah, I guess we can try," he says, quickly returning his gaze to the road before clearing his throat. The kids all quiet down, and the van is silent for the first time in hours. "Uh, Hestia, if you've got the time, I'd appreciate some guidance to a place we can stay for the night. The kids would like one with a pool, but just a place where we can sleep safely would be great."
Eddie has heard plenty of demigods pray before, but he thinks this is the most casually genuine one he's ever heard. When they drive past a few exit signs without any change, Eddie starts to suggest Steve try again with a more, well, reverential tone. But then the van's blinker suddenly switches on, and the kids cheer. Steve snorts at their reaction as he follows the blinker's direction and takes the next exit ramp off the highway.
"What the fuck," Eddie mutters, staring as the blinker continues to signal the turns Steve should take until they're pulling into a hotel parking lot.
The sign in front of the building announces it as "Hearth and Home" in cursive letters. The hotel itself is four stories tall and looks like a giant cottage. A few cars are in the parking lot, and Eddie can somehow tell this place is some kind of passion project for someone who doesn't have to worry about money.
After Steve pulls into a spot outside the hotel and shuts the car off, he turns in his seat and looks at the kids. "What are the rules?" he asks, his tone firm and leaving no room for jokes.
"Don't talk to strangers," El says.
"Don't talk at all while you're checking us in and out," Will adds.
"Stick together and stay in sight," Lucas says.
"Cough twice if we sense a monster nearby," Erica says.
"No fighting," Max says, already starting to shift closer to the doors.
"And if anyone asks," Dustin starts.
"We're traveling to meet family one state over," Mike finishes.
Steve nods once and opens his door. That seems to be the signal the kids were waiting for because they immediately scramble out of their seats. Eddie hops out and walks over to Steve, watching the kids climb out as he asks, "What's up with the rules?"
"Well, I'm a young guy traveling with seven kids. Most hotels are hesitant to give me rooms, and they'll straight up lie about being full if the kids are rowdy. We also need a system in place if one of them realizes a monster is around. And saying we're meeting family tells people that we're expected to appear somewhere by a certain time, which deters anybody from trying to, you know, kidnap one of the kids," Steve explains, glancing at Eddie as he shrugs.
Eddie has to stop himself from asking what led to Steve making some of these rules. Instead, he bites his tongue and follows the group inside, sticking to Steve's side as he walks up to the front desk and the kids huddle within sight a few feet away.
"Hi, do you have any vacancies for the night?" Steve asks, flashing a charming smile at the older woman working the desk.
She looks at Steve, then Eddie, and then the kids behind them. "How many rooms would you need?" she asks.
"If you happen to have any connected rooms, we'll take them. But if not, just two is fine."
The woman nods and checks her computer, hesitating for a few seconds before saying, "We don't have any connected rooms, but one of our Executive Suites is open. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a large lounge area. It's made for large groups, so two of the bedrooms have bunkbeds in them. The price, however...."
Steve smiles at her reassuringly and pulls out his wallet. He plucks a black card from one of the pockets and presents it. "Don't worry about the cost," he says, "We'll take it."
At the sight of the sleek credit card, the woman lights up and smiles brightly at Steve. Eddie finds himself thinking that money really does talk. "Of course, sir," the woman says, a suddenly respectful tone coloring her words as she takes the card. "Could I see an ID as well, please?"
As Steve pulls out his license, he looks at Eddie and asks, "Could you take the kids to get the bags from the car? I should have the key cards by the time you get back." He places his license on the desk and hands his keys to Eddie.
Eddie finds himself nodding before he can really think about it, but how can he say no to Steve's brown eyes and the tiny dimples that appear when he smiles? So, he takes the keys and starts herding kids outside.
----
As it turns out, the hotel does, in fact, have a pool, and Steve can't help his grin when the kids cheer after they get to their rooms and he tells them. What follows is a flurry of kids changing into bathing suits, Steve lending Eddie a pair of swim trunks, and making sure everyone has towels and plenty of sunscreen slathered all over them.
The pool is surprisingly large, and there's plenty of space for the kids to swim around and expend some energy. Steve drops into one of the pool chairs and closes his eyes, the plastic warm on his back without burning his skin. He hears another chair get dragged closer before someone sits on it. When Steve opens an eye to look over, Eddie has settled next to him, watching the kids with a slight frown.
Steve follows his gaze, but he doesn't see anything out of the ordinary. The only thing that might catch someone's attention is El wearing her beanie in the pool, but even that could be explained as her forgetting to take it off.
"They don't have any scars," Eddie says after a moment.
Steve blinks and pushes himself up some, sitting straighter in the chair and looking at Eddie. His hair is pulled back into a messy bun, a few pieces escaping to frame his face. He's not obviously muscular like Steve, and he doesn't have an 8-pack, but Steve can still see the subtle muscles in his arms and legs. And the scars. Steve can see plenty of scars littered across Eddie's chest and stomach, his arms, and one particularly nasty one just above his knee.
In that way, Steve supposes, they are similar. "I wouldn't let them get hurt," Steve says quietly, shrugging when Eddie looks at him. He scoots forward some so Eddie can get a better look at his own scars. Despite the warm weather, he still can't help goosebumps traveling up his arms as Eddie stares at him.
"What's that one from?" Eddie asks, gesturing to a large slash that reaches from Steve's shoulder to his elbow.
Steve glances down and hums softly. "Stymphalian bird feather. They're made of steel. It attacked us after we picked up Mike and Dustin. Thankfully, there was only one bird, and I managed to dodge most of the time, but I got this one when I closed in to kill it," he explains.
Eddie stares at the scar, and Steve wonders what he's imagining. Does he want to know how vicious the fight must have been? It was one of Steve's messier fights. He didn't have any training, and he barely had experience. Really, Steve had nothing but his instincts and a desperation to keep the kids safe. "What about those?" Eddie asks, pulling Steve from his thoughts as he leans closer to point at what's clearly a bite mark on Steve's right side.
"The lion head of a Chimera," Steve says, glancing at Eddie before pointing at a scar wrapping around his throat. He shifts until he's sitting on the edge of his chair and tilts his head to give Eddie a better view. "The snake tail was choking me at the same time. I had to use lightning on that one since it had me trapped. We ran into it almost two months ago."
Eddie scoots to the edge of his chair, and their knees are almost close enough to touch. Something starts to buzz under Steve's skin. It's not anger. He knows what that feels like. It's something else this time, something that sizzles and lingers and tries to push against his skin to break free. Steve tries not to think about it.
"And this one?" Eddie asks, pointing to a scar that's splashed across Steve's left knee like a starburst.
"That one," Steve says, getting a grin despite himself, "happened because Dustin tried to help me fight a minotaur. He made this mini-bomb without me knowing and threw it into the fight. I managed to tuck and roll, but the explosion still brushed against me. This scar is from it, too." He turns his right leg out so Eddie can see a similar scar on the inside of his calf.
Steve looks up in time to see Eddie swallow, his throat rolling, and that electric feeling gets stronger. It centers on Steve's knees, the spot where they're closest to touching. But it travels like those toys with magnetic sand when Eddie leans closer and points to the scar in the middle of his chest. It grows the longer Eddie's hand hovers there, and Steve glances down just to make sure there aren't actually sparks buzzing across his skin.
"This one?" Eddie whispers, holding Steve's gaze.
Mouth suddenly dry, Steve clears his throat. "My first fight. The, uh, snake thing that took Will," he says. "Some of the scars on my back and stomach are from that one, too."
Eddie nods, and Steve can't place his expression for a few seconds. When he finally does, he realizes it's something like adoration. He's seen it before from all the kids at some point, usually after he's fought a monster to keep them safe. But Eddie is different. Eddie's adoration is just the surface emotion. Under it, Steve can glimpse something even more intense. He almost wants to drown in whatever it is, let it surround him until he can figure out how to describe it.
"You really are metal, Stevie," Eddie says, his voice soft as he smiles at Steve.
Steve has already acknowledged that Eddie is his type, and he definitely isn't imagining the tension between them right now. Without thinking, he leans forward, a similarly soft grin tugging at his lips. But whatever he wanted to say is literally shocked out of him.
The moment he's close enough for Eddie's hand to actually touch Steve's chest, that fizzing energy bursts through. It's not strong by any means, but it's demanding attention as it zaps across Steve's chest and Eddie's fingertip. Steve jerks back, rubbing at his chest and taking a deep breath to control the crackling over his ribs.
Eddie is frozen, staring at his still outstretched hand in shock. His eyes are wide, and Steve grimaces, wanting to take his hand and check for burns but scared of shocking Eddie more.
"Sorry," he mutters, looking away and coincidentally meeting El's gaze. She's sitting on the steps leading into the pool, legs pulled up to her chest with an amused smile on her face. When she realizes that Steve is slightly panicked, though, she blinks and tilts her head. Steve subtly shrugs one shoulder, and, thankfully, she gets the message.
"Steve!" she calls, waving her hand as though she doesn't already have his attention.
It's the save Steve is desperate for, and he practically jumps up from his chair. "I'm gonna go see what El needs," he says, glancing at Eddie only to find he's already looking up at Steve.
"Oh, yeah, sure," Eddie mumbles. Steve waits until Eddie nods to speed-walk (it's still a pool, after all, and he won't set a bad example by running) over to El, urging his heart and the crackling beneath his skin to calm down.

Because exactly 1 person said they wanted more
Here are some more of my random pjo headcanons:
-silenas favorite subjects were math and physics (and maybe chemistry but mostly the first two). She will make her way trough a math problem easily. I think that she would help annabeth with like the ecuations o smt when she was building a cabin (she did not die what are you talking about). Silena wouldve be like elle woods o lidya martin from teen wolf.
- she also wanted to study medicine, bc i said so
- despite popular tiktok believe, i think annabeth would hate booktok, at least at first. I think she would grow to like it over time once she finds her niche within the community, but yeah she would not like it at first.
- jason LOVES poetry. Not so much writing it (although i think he does from time to time) but reading it. He really likes emily dickinson.
-will is a horror movie fanatic, mostly slashers and not some much the a24 type of stuff. His favorite are scream and a nightmare on elm street. He also points out the innacuraties of yhe wounds in the movie.
"Theres no way hes still alive after losing THAT much blood"
"THATS NOT HOW YOU DO CPR"
- annabeth and hazel would really like sabrina carpenter and boygenius, they get together and have a karaoke night.
- percy is more into like 'rock' (argentinian rock to be specific bc percy is argentinian bc im argentinian and said so) so he likes led zeppelin, soda estereo, AND MANESKIN, big big maneskin fan. BUT he also likes ricky montgomery and the 1975.
- silena and will become friends when silena asks for his help understanding some things and becomes his 'second in comand' in infarmary.
-She also is very vocal about only using makeup that is not animal tested and is very invested is talking about the importance of not testing in animals
- rachel and percy do like drawing afternoons and they just get together and draw and paint differents things and give eachother feedback
- silena love to wear those flowly tops with long sleves that like tie in the front instead of her camp shirt. She refuses to wear something thats an ugly shade of orange (i have a very speficic image of silenas style if someone is interested let me know)
A lot of focus on silena but yeah :)

Oh, hiiii! It was about time I made an official introduction to my blog!
ᓚᘏᗢ I'm Kaufman, but you can call me Kauf! I'm a writer on ao3, an avid fic reader and a pianist!
ᓚᘏᗢ I like to reblog some of my favorite fandoms content, like PJO, Batfam and TUA on this blog and share my fics. (feel free to send me writing prompts and headcanons from the fandoms I'll list below, I'd love a challenge!)
ᓚᘏᗢ I'm also open to fic colabs and friendly chat. You have my permission to remix, translate, make podfics and/or fanarts out of my works but please tag me when posting here on tumblr. You can also post on ao3 using the "inspired by" or gift feature. (do not post content based on my works out of ao3 and tumblr)
ᓚᘏᗢ Did you know I'm the owner of a Jasico Discord server? I host creative challenges on @jasico-challenges and decided to create a Discord so people can talk about the events, Jasico, and random PJO! You're welcome to join by clicking this invite link.
ᓚᘏᗢ --------------------- >
ᓚᘏᗢ I go by Kaufmann on AO3. Here are some things that I've written:
The Umbrella Academy
ᓚᘏᗢ Absence → A remix fic I wrote for @tua-masked-author based out of @littlerit's amazing work, The Time Traveler's Life. It's Klaus pov of his 14th birthday and Five's multiple appearances. Angsty.
ᓚᘏᗢ If Only → An AU in which Patch didn't notice Five's van across the street and Cha-Cha got tired of waiting so she kills Klaus on S1E4.
ᓚᘏᗢ Bubble Thoughts → Another @tua-masked-author entry, an older one this time. It's a post-S3 fic in which Klaus reflects on his father's betrayal and his actions in that season. Luther helps him cope.
ᓚᘏᗢ I can die when I'm done. → Written for @tua-masked-author first edition! It's a missing scene fic from when Klaus was locked in that tiny motel closet in S1 when Hazel and Cha-Cha left to blow up Meritech. Character study, internal monologue. Lots of Angst & Hurt/No Comfort.
ᓚᘏᗢ The Bargain → An old wip that I really should pick up again. It's an AU in which the Handler decided to use Five's love for his siblings against him and uses Klaus as a hostage to get Five to work for her on S1E5. TW: SA.
DC Batman
ᓚᘏᗢ 'Cause you all try to keep me down → This fic was written for @febuwhump 2024. In this one, Black Mask kidnaps Red Hood and Red Robin and Jason is forced to watch Tim get tortured by the man who hates him the most. TW: Whump & eletric shock torture.
ᓚᘏᗢ I'm absolutely obsessed with Jason Todd at the moment and have so many fic ideas, including a Time Traveller's Wife AU coming up soon. Stay tunned!
Riordanverse (PJO, HOO, TOA)
ᓚᘏᗢ Oh, ho, the mistletoe (is hung where you can see) → Jasico Imprint Soulmate AU written for @jasico-challenges's Bingo Challenges 2024. Between flashbacks from the past, nightmares and christmas presents, Jason and Nico figure out how to tell their friends the truth about their relationship.
ᓚᘏᗢ If you had one more chance → Jasico fic for the Percy Jackson Gift Exchange Autum Equinox 2023. Nico struggles after Jason's death and decides to risk everything to bring him back. Orpheus & Euridyce style.
ᓚᘏᗢ Every Breath You Take → Jercy fic written for the Percy Jackson Gift Exchange Winter Solstice 2022. Percy and Jason are secretly pining for each other. In a road trip across the country, they finally face their feelings, but not withought some angst and jelously in the middle.
ᓚᘏᗢ It Doesn't Matter Anymore → A Jason Grace character study from when he was stuck in the wind prison in TOA. What was he thinking on his very last moments? Angst and Hurt/No Comfort. TW: Major character death & implied/referenced suicide.
ᓚᘏᗢ --------------------- >
I've written fics of some other fandoms like Maze Runner and I Am Not Okay With This but the fadoms above are the ones I'm still active in.
If you'd like to send a writing prompt or to make a request, here's my Bad Things Happen Bingo card, I'm accepting Jason Todd & Batfamily requests.

I've seen an uptick of hate for RR and his portrayal of the gods and accuracy to myth, do you have any thoughts on that with how much fic you write and the way you portray the gods? /gen
Hi! I’ve answered something similar to this HERE as well, if you’d rather read that! I haven’t seen any uptick of negativity, but I try to avoid any of the more discourse-y sides of fandom. Mostly because I’ve seen it all before, and while discourse is a valid way to interact with fandom, it’s not how I enjoy PJO!
Short answer: I don’t think a children’s book series is an educational source, nor do I think authors have a responsibility to be 100% accurate when it comes to writing fiction. If someone is looking to RR as their only source for mythological accuracy, that’s a different conversation to have.
Longer answer below the cut!
The books have flaws, and RR has flaws. But, I don’t expect a children’s fiction book to be perfectly accurate. Hell, classists still argue about a lot of the history and myth. New translations change how we think about Greek texts. There are different historical sources, authors and historians disagree with one another, etc.. History is complicated, especially when it’s so ancient! There’s a reason this is an area of study people devoted their lives to, after all.
I don’t see the PJO series as accurate, but I don’t think they need to be. At their core, I’ve always seen them as stories about Percy, and that’s a very human story that resonated with me as a child, and I know it resonated just as much with others. I likewise don’t read any other retellings expecting perfect accuracy (which, considering the subject, is difficult to do lol), but for a story I enjoy. I read Clytemnestra by Constanza Casati recently and it wasn’t perfectly accurate. But I enjoyed the story, I enjoyed the portrayal of a character who’s always interested me, and I enjoyed the author’s writing style. There are Greek (and other) retellings I didn't like for whatever reason, but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong per se, or that people can’t enjoy them as works of fiction.
When I first read the PJO books, I picked them up because I already loved Greek mythology, and I kept reading them for Percy. He was, and still is, a character I adore. That’s why I love PJO, even if as an adult I know they have a lot of flaws, know they’re often wildly inaccurate, and don’t agree with some of RR’s portrayals or takes. I don’t need to! I fell in love with PJO for the characters. Not for a perfect historical and mythological summary, or for a portrayal of the gods I see as relevant to me and my views and beliefs. And, to be blunt, I don’t think that anyone should read PJO or any of the related books as if they’re accurate. They’re not, and they don’t need to be. They’re works of fiction made for children.
My issue with the so-called accuracy isn’t the books; it’s when people claim they should be (or are) perfectly accurate, or when people use them as an actual source. RR has his issues, but if people are genuinely using a kids series as their source for all things Greek Mythology... that’s on them. He’s a children’s author, and that’s where he’s strongest. There are bits I liked, and bits I side-eyed. But the books are meant to get kids reading and having fun. I, and many people in the fandom, simply am not the target audience. I’ve re-read them and have had issues with some things, but those are issues I as an adult have, and that’s okay! They’re not meant for me. They’re meant for kids.
I could also say the same thing (and do) about so many other retellings, and so many other books. Stephen Fry’s Mythos, Madeline Miller and her books, the multitude of girl-boss retellings, and more. I’ve DNF’d some retellings, refuse to read others, and have my issues with some aspects of them. But, I don’t think any of the above authors, or RR, are presenting their books as some perfect historical texts, and I don’t think anyone should read them like they are.
I write because I love to write, and am still in this fandom because I adore Percy as a character and love the escapism and enjoyment it brings me. If someone else gets their enjoyment over debating accuracy in the books, that’s likewise 100% valid. It’s just not for me.

do you have any drawing tips? i'm just starting out and your style inspires me to keep going fr!!
HIYA !!! thank you that is so kind of you, i would say to keep drawing with references and do studies!! typically art studies (in like art school lol) are of old masters (da vinci, etc) but doing studies of styles that you like, like trying to copy a certain artist you like, also helps you develop skills !!
for example, lots of people (especially fanartists lol) do studies of artists like leyendecker while making the models their favorite characters/ocs, so it helps to make studies fun. literally look up leyendecker study on tumblr dot com and you will see hundreds.
(gets a bit long and rambly so i've thrown it under the cut :')
Tumblr media
style studies can be anything! above was done while watching wolfwalkers, just loose sketches that copied the style as the movie went along. i love the design and style in that film, wanted to incorporate it in my character design work, so i tried it out myself! it let me know the kinds of shapes used in the construction, the way it moves (wrt to animation) and silhouettes. by copying something, you learn how to do it on the way (so the kinds of colors used, what works best with shading, etc) it's like. reverse engineering
even very loosely copying something to identify what you like about the style helps! these were modelled after the way slimsense on ig paints (her work is 2nd + 4th examples below, my attempts at 'paint' 1st and 3rd lol), but doesn't really look like her work. i'm not necessarily trying to make perfect copies. i liked that her paint didn't blend perfectly, was blocky, and the additional lineart over the painting, so i brought that into my own art. i tried to create a painting style that was 'my own' off of lots of trial and error, and seeing what stuck!
Tumblr media
also find brushes you like! adobe has a bunch on their page (if you have photoshop, but i know there's some for procreate and other programs) and if you want the adobe brush files, lmk. i will send a drive link to you LOL (sketches of the same characters, using different brushes below. the two i used the most often, one being a solid inker and the other being a paintbrush)
Tumblr media
generally doing figure drawing is good too. i've heard advice about art where you can only start breaking the rules after you understand them, and a good grasp on anatomy, proportions, etc is definitely a good place to start! good sites to use for this are line of action for poses, and the morpho books (if you need pdfs of this let me know, though you should be able to find them if you look lol) !
i would also say learn perspective early on. i have no tips for you here i am so sorry. i didn't and now it bites me in the ass, but there has to be a youtube tutorial for this out there that can help you AND me. same goes for color theory. quickly dropping my favorite van gogh quote of all time:
Tumblr media
(quote is from a letter to his brother) just everyone needs the fundamentals first. don't worry about a personal style: that just comes naturally as you develop as an artist, and i was certainly inspired by a lot of the things i watched/consumed and artists i admired which absolutely shows in my work i think (manet. western comics. fma. avatar. pjo fanart. there are tells. you know how it is.)
also flip your canvas !!! like see below ... frankly this marcille is so lopsided (her entire face should shift to the left) LOL !! flipping horizontally makes the anatomy mistakes obvious, and shows you you what you need to fix. i should never have posted this as is but sometimes it works for humor and an artist is lazy </3
Tumblr media
AND ALWAYS USE REFERENCES WHEN YOU CAN!! i should use more references tbh!!! it helps with posing, getting anatomy correct, etc, and my friends use pinterest a lot, though i tend to just google when i need to LOLLL
Tumblr media
also draw what you like. there is genuinely nothing that is better for your art than getting into something REALLY BAD and then non stop drawing it. time + practice will lead to improvement no matter what the subject is!
i hope this was not too much information all at once !!! and some of it is helpful!!! it's a lot of basic improvement tips that i try to practice and use when i can :) so sorry that this got so long!!!!

I always like seeing your art on my dash!! the way you design characters is very distinct, and I love how dynamic and expressive you make everyone- it's definitely helped me remember to change things up with my own designs, especially w mannerisms and body language. your Links are wonderful, I'd only played botw but your art and comics got me interested in the other games and in loz more in general! if you have any tricks of the trade I'd be curious to know what kinds of things have helped you develop your style and characterizations, but no pressure of course! :D
AH thank you so much, making them distinguishable was something I worked hard on hehe. In terms of developing style, it’s one of those things that’s really hard to give advice on, because all the answers sound like such a cop-out 😅 I’m not even sure how I arrived at my own style, other than being influenced by anime and early 2010s PJO fanart LMAOO
but I will say on that note, while doing studies of real life to improve your drawing skills is important, I would also HIGHLY recommend studying what makes the art styles you like work. “Stylization” is just a series of decisions an artist makes to create shapes that are more interesting/clean/efficient/insert whatever adjective. So look at the styles you like, make note of the way shapes get simplified, what choices they make that differ from real life, what purpose those choices serve, etc. It’s not stealing to notice things like that and incorporate them into your own work through your own lens. For example, in my own work I prefer to always fill in the top lip shape as part of the linework because I think it adds clarity. I draw hair in a lot of rounded swoops ending in tapered spikes. I tend to draw jaws and chins pretty sharp and angled to create distinctive head shapes. Those are all stylistic choices I certainly didn’t invent whole cloth.
In terms of characterization, I’ve talked about it before but for the Links specifically I pull from a combination of info from the games, my own experiences playing them, and unfounded headcanons I think are neat lol. Because I can’t spend the entire comic having characters monologue at each other about their feelings (although I. do also do a lot of that lol) I have to find subtler ways to get stuff across. I guess it’s a lot of observing peoples body language and mimicking it in my work lolol. Rather than just having a character do an action, I try to think of the specific way that character would go about doing it, and pose accordingly. I also try to keep a “main motivation” in mind for every major character that drives the decisions they make in the story.

🍓-> How did you get into writing fanfiction?
Pokemon! I was obsessed with pokemon and wanted to write my own characters going on their adventures (and it was going to be 4 best friends who learned to navigate the world and do the things they loved). And then at around 13, I got into writing a lot more consistently some self-insert PJO fanfiction and I would like to never, ever read another piece of that dark time
🥑-> you accidentally killed somebody, which mutual(s) do you text for help?
@rainbowrider1290 please hire Mr. Wright to defend me, I swear it wasn't me
🥐-> name on internet reference that will always make you laugh
I suddenly don't know what an internet reference is. What is the internet? (Jared 19. The answer is Jared 19.)
🦴-> Is there a piece of media that inspires your writing?
There's actually a lot! I can say that Rick Riordan really shaped my writing style, though the resemblance has faded over the years since I really developed my own style, but at the beginning, I really tried to emulate his style (the slightly sarcastic main narration voice, a little bit cheeky at times type of writing).
More recently, I'd say Song of Achilles really inspired the way I write. I've started writing in a more poetic way, with prettier turn of phrases. I really loved how beautiful M. Miller's writing is, and I would almost study the beautiful sentences I fell in love with from SoA, so I'd say that really inspired my writing!
Otherwise, again recently, in a more broad way, Jorge Rivera-Herrans' Epic the Musical has really inspired my writing, but in the way that it sparks ideas in my mind and I just need to put those ideas onto paper (and I guess by that standard, most Taylor Swift songs have played a similar role)

Thoughts on fae aus or mythical creature aus?
oooh🤔🤔 that's an interesting question!
I'm open to them! tbh I don't particularly have a nostalgia factor or long running thing with fae myth or greek myth/pjo so I don't have any concrete Yes or No opinions! but I have read a couple trc fae aus (hi nevada homestuckicon when u inevitably stalk me) that are particularly good!
HOWEVER I'm going to immediately contradict myself and say that I LOVE the witcher games' lore, and that kind of witcher/vampire/etc dynamic is fascinating to me. i was working on a Toussaint-knight gansey au for a solid... 3 days last year lsjsksks and an actual witcher-style trc au at some point. ((Oriana from the dlc IS mrs gansey to me I refuse to elaborate))
i also have a particular fondness for sirens (even like in the Maid of Sker game) and ghouls, i love horror games & aus like that are my jam. OH I was working on a Sweet Home trc au last year which I think falls into the mythical creature category? it was very fun tho love putting people in situations
tldr I'm interested in them, I think to me it's more of a study to see how characters adapt/change in those situations rather than having an affinity for the world ygm

Tiegan is one of my more active muses right now so here are some AUs I’ve whipped up for him.
Euphoria: Foster kid, new to East Highland. He has several gang tattoos, frequently skips class and is seen hanging around Fez’s corner shop to get drugs. Due to his grunge aesthetic, he’s seen to be a bit scary to some, but in reality he just wants to be left alone. Can be friendly when the situation calls for it, but he’s not afraid to cut a bitch with his switchblade if he has to. Always low key itching to beat someone’s ass.
Hogwarts: Slytherin student. Carries a nine inch cedar wood wand with a dragon heartstrings core, and his familiar is a pure black cat with orange eyes he names Duke. His best classes are Defense Against the Dark Arts, Divination and Ancient Runes; his bloodline is a mystery as he does not know who his father is, and his mother was nonmagical, to the best of his knowledge. He learns how to become an Animagus by fourth year, in which he turns into a raven a white chest, and he studies the Dark Arts in his spare time in order to learn how to recognize such magic when out in the real world. Unlike his peers, he’s also willing to use Dark Magic if pushed to the edge to destroy enemies. If attending Ilvermorny, he’s Sorted into Wampus.
PJO/Demigod: Son of Hades. He carries two Stygian Iron daggers, as his fighting style prefers to be as chaotic as possible. Like his half siblings before him, Tiegan has the abilities to shadow travel, sense and see other’s life forces, become invisible to the naked eye, control shadows and darkness, as well as the earth itself with all of it’s minerals and riches, communicate and control the dead, turn people into ghosts, and erase memories in others. His respect for the gods is minimal, but he toes the line and keeps to himself.
Dragon Age: Inquisition: Tiegan is a runaway apostate from a Circle in Ferelden after years of abuse; he and his sister Dorothea were kidnapped from their apostate mother after Catherine was discovered by Templars, and he was forced to watch them execute her for trying to keep her children protected. At the age of fifteen, Tiegan was able to destroy his phylactery before going on the run, and he manages six years living in the wilderness before he comes across more mages being chased down by Templars. After the Templars are killed, he’s told that the Mage-Templar War has already started, and so he is at the Conclave at the Temple of Sacred Ashes when it explodes, and he’s saved from the Fade by Justinia, given the Anchor in his hand as compensation. He’s extremely bitter that this responsibility has been thrust upon him, and he despises being called the Herald of Andraste, repeatedly committing blaspheme that Andraste and the Maker aren’t real, and if they are real, then they need to beg his forgiveness for the abuse he suffered in childhood. However, he agrees -- reluctantly -- to become the Inquisitor, if only because he’s promised immunity from the Circle if he helps fix the world.
Stranger Things: Tiegan is an escaped child experiment from Hawkins Lab. With the number “004″ tattooed on his left wrist, he was able to escape when he was just past the age of six, and was consequently discovered by Joyce Byers, who took the boy in without question, raising him as one of her own. As a result, Tiegan regards the Byers as his family, and would do anything for them. Like the other child experiments, Tiegan has supernatural abilities like telekinesis and telepathy; his special power is the ability to cause other’s to hallucinate when looking at him, so he appears as someone else entirely, or to be completely invisible to avoid detection. He helps to hide El when she escapes from the Lab when he’s seventeen, and he’s stunned to hear the other test subjects are all dead.
