Primary Host, Secondary Host, and Tertiary Host but for subsystems. These flags are meant to refer to the alter(s) in a nested subsystem that functions as the fronting alter in the wider inner world. However these can also be used for whole subsystem that function as the hosts of the archsystem.

Different Ways Fusions Can Result

(This post is specifically about fusion in CDD systems. I am open to questions, but I am not open to people shaming others' chosen recovery paths. Keep that off this post, please!)

Integration is the process of breaking down dissociative barriers between alters. The alters fuse when they accept and integrate with each other to such a degree that they function as one. This can end up several different ways! I'd love to show you some, using my own system/alters to explain & conceptualize.

#1: The "New Guy" (with traits from both)

Jayden, a 17 year old verbal protector, and Glyph, an ageless dragon soother/protector, fused to make Marcus, who became our system's primary caretaker. The alters both balanced each other out, with Jayden's "chill unless pissed" mixing neatly with Glyph's strong need to keep things in order/safe to make one responsible, organized, and laid-back alter.

#2: The "Old Guy With An Update"

Gemini, our co-host, fused with a bunch of memory-holding fragments. Nothing fundamental about Gemini changed, but he did have access to more memories and some skills.

#3: The "New Guy" (that mostly seems like an old guy)

Echo, our nonhuman shadow being of a gatekeeper, fused with Zeke, an avenger and anger holder who was also the host of his subsystem. Echo kept the name Echo and mostly seems the same at first glance, but sometimes Zeke's bluntness and habitual swearing come through. Zeke has found a lot of peace and healing by fusing with Echo, and Echo gained the perspective of "hot" emotions.

#4: The "Lava Lamp"

Finn, a happiness/energy holder, and Jukebox, a trauma holder, fused to who became Jukebox 2.0. Sometimes, this new alter is a lot more like Finn or a lot more like Jukebox or a perfect mix of the two. The ratio varies and he is ever-shifting. Consistently, he loves dinosaurs, orange juice, and gummy bears.

Overall, fusion can look different for everybody, and it can even look different in the same system! Fusion is a very diverse experience.

While fusion is a good thing, sometimes people do need to grieve it, just like any other large change. That's okay and it doesn't make you a bad person, nor does it make you "anti-recovery". Big changes can be very hard.

In my opinion, the most important thing to keep in mind about fusion, for those who seek it, is being kind to yourself throughout the whole process.

Sometimes, fusions don't work out too well. Sometimes, two alters aren't a good match yet. Sometimes, it takes a few tries. Ultimately, it's up to you and your system how or if you go about it - there's no "wrong way". Just don't rush things, trust yourself, and take it easy. It'll all settle in the end, I promise!

Octocon: A Review and Comparison. (Website link)

I am writing this on the 14th of July 2024, which is just three days after the first public release of the app(on the 11th). So some of the things I bring up here may no longer be reinvent, when it is updated in the future. I've also only just started using it, so there may be stuff I'm unaware of.

I think the 2 biggest advantage of octocon is, first the fact that it functions as jake of all trades, and second the safety features. The app has a companion discord bot, as well as in app journaling. Making it so it has features of simplyplural, pluralkit, and lighthouse all in one. In terms of safety, in addition to options for a pin lock, there are also a quick exit option and a stealth mod option. With quick exit enabled you can double top any unoccupied spot on the app to immediately close the app. The stealth mode being enabled makes it so when the launches it appears as a news app(pictures on the right below), to access the real app just double tap the logo. Also the app having no reference to systemhood or plurality in the name makes it more convert.

I could see the app being directly connected to the discord bot as being very useful for systems that split alters often. I know from our experience we often don't really bother with setting up PK profiles for a lot of our system(and doing with tokens every time is also annoying), so having the app and bot linked is useful. The discord bot commands are also more private than PKs.

The app can be used for front and alter tracking, you can also set an alter as primary front if multiple alters are fronting. Also alters in the app are given an ID number which can be changed to organize them, rather it being alphabetical(one of our pet peeves with SP is the fact you can't make organization non alphabetical, I say a host whose name starts with V) The app also lets you make alter folders, which can be used for subsystems among other things. It also let you add friends so they can see who is fronting, much like simplyplural.

There are also several different color options for the app.

As for the journaling, there's both individual alter journals and a journal

Now moving on the things I like less about the app. As a reminder the app just come out and the app will likely be changed in the future.

There is no in app way to edit the info for the system as a whole, this is done via the bot on discord. On a related note system usernames must be between 5 and 16 characters long, which as you might notice is to short for our system name.

The is no dashboard, and no chatting or polls in app, though chatting could still be done on discord with bot. Also there's no browser version.

All alter info is on one tab I could see this getting very crowded. there's less custom field options(not date options for example) and no markdown support(meaning you can't add images and such to bios and the like). There is also currently not wat to achieve alters.

There is no non folder way to represent subsystems in the app, mean there is also no subsystem specific group journals. (Side note lighthouse is very good for keeping track of subsystems, if your system has multiple I recommend you give it a try)

The app's current front history keeping is rather bare bones.

Closing thoughts

For now we are going to continue predominately using simplyplural and pluralkit. Simplyplural for it's better information keeping, and pluralkit do to its prevalence. However I am very excited to see what octocon's future hold and can absolutely understand why some systems would prefer it over alternatives. I am also always glad to see new system resources being created!

Many of my systemmates have begun making daemons, one specific to each of them, and I've taken to calling them "secondary members" of our system. Due to monoconsciousness and a complete lack of internal communication, our experience of plurality can feel strangely lonely. But these secondary members/daemons, which function as slightly differentiated cofronters, can be spoken to and internally interacted with. Most of my system doesn't have outer friends (as the host and common fronter I tend to hog our social relationships) and daemonism has really been making us feel less alone when fronting.

I've still been listing our primary members when asked how many of us there are, viewing the daemons as facets or as a sort of subsystem. I only really discuss their existence with other daemians or with people who are close enough enough to unlock all of our lore. My daemon has been around for a few years but the others are quite new, and we're still each exploring how daemonism works for us. Some things vary by member - my daemon is constantly transforming, another daemon mostly takes a single anthropomorphic form and rarely changes, another is childlike and perceived as "young", another takes a human form and is only occasionally a bird, and another is really "just some human guy".

We don't actively build members with specific traits in a tulpamancy way - we are very prone to inner dialogues so we really just "talk into the void" and see what speaks back. It's unclear to us whether daemons form in the way they do as what each of us needs in a companion, or whether they have randomly generated traits - maybe a bit of both. It's always a little nervewracking to tap into our unconscious mind not knowing what will pop out, or whether whatever it is will get along well with you, but reassuringly it has yet to go wrong.

As a non-willowgenic system it's been interesting to for once take an active role in who is in our brain, rather than splitting completely randomly. These days we actually do the best we can to *prevent* new members forming, but daemons don't front and they fulfill a role as needed, so they lack the baggage that comes with getting new primary members.

All in all it's been a positive experience. We're on a daemonism Discord server containing singlets and plurals alike and that gives us some direction and community. I'm excited to see how daemonism progresses for us in the future.

Some alters and why they’d get us fakeclaimed!

Adam - a fictive that happens to be our cohost!

Jack - first alter revealed to me during syscovery, a fictive and dating another fictive he’s popularly shipped with in source!

Coral - main gender is a xenogender, primary role is a therapist (no we don’t claim their opinions are on the level of medical professionals, I say this as in they talk other alters through issues), species is very unclear? And a fictive!

Cipher - bill cipher introject, weirdly violent? has very vivid source memories and does in fact get triggered by them!

Felix - also a fictive with very vivid source memories, feels extreme guilt due to them! :3

Champagne - it/its pronouns, and multisourced! Partially sourced from me (the host), hazbin hotel, and a song!

Jack^2 - different fictive, source attached to the maximum.

Ethereal - not an alter but a subsystem! we aren’t polyfrag (to our knowledge?) but we got a subsys in here! we have really bad communication with them too, so :)

when I (Tommy, the host of the system) first discovered my subsystem, the record collection, it was bc one of the protectors in my subsystem fronted and said 'yea u cant keep ignoring this' and made it so that I had to discover it.

now, mind u, this was over a year ago now. this was late February 2024. this protector is the primary protector of my subsystem and they are very active in the sub and primary/surface system.

Introduction Post: We Are Eklesia

Well, seeing as we've been here for a couple days now, we might as well make a little intro post. :> Hi! We're the Eklesia System.

We're a system of 150+ members and most of us are fictives or sourced. (Be aware that Adam does not like being called a fictive due to his source.) Not everyone fronts, but everyone is valued here.

We're not certain of our exact origin, but Rex attests to have been one of the first, forming at age 6 alongside JJ. We think we're traumagenic but eh...? There's always the impostor syndrome of "our childhood wasn't THAT bad..."

Regardless of our own origins though, we're not ones to discriminate based on system origin. ^o^ Peeps is peeps.
