And it's finally done. Just have a skosh more sanding to do and then some varnish, but otherwise it's ready to go. P chuffed with myself

taliesin and laura remain truly so fantastic at making characters who… don’t necessarily have something extremely and inherently in common but do have experiences that were caused by similar sources and that lead them to have quite different opinions/ideas about things but in ways that are typically very reconcilable? which is a lot of qualifiers but it’s a through line of vex/percy with nobility, jester & cad with loneliness (and also god stuff but in a different post maybe someday i’ll talk about how actually their god stuff is intensely related to their different experiences of loneliness), and now imogen & ashton with being left behind.
like vex was this character who technically had a claim to nobility due to her blood but at the same time was burdened because of that same claim. and percy who was born into and raised by nobility but that nobility ended up making his family the targets of a massacre. and then vex who lets down her walls and Do I Look Like I Come From Money? and percy giving her the title grand mistress of the grey hunt because it has nothing to do with blood, or his love for her, or anything aside from the fact that it’s something she can prove herself worthy of simply by virtue of who she Is, not who someone makes her. and percy and vex’s conversation about forgiveness and it’s necessity for growth as probably two of the characters most inclined to hold grudges.
and caduceus clay who gets left behind with nothing but his Belief while his family goes off into the world. and jester lavorre who gets shut inside with no company except her Belief as her mother protects her from the world. and they both get the burden of loneliness and the understanding of love’s nonmalicious imperfection. and caduceus having a panic attack on a ship and jester telling him that the world is a lot bigger than his cemetery and that means he has to break out of his comfort zone to find his path. and caduceus telling jester that he doesn’t think she gets as much credit as she ought to and she deserves more pastries. and jester thanking caduceus for showing her how cool it is to actually heal people and caduceus asking if she wants to use his shield while he doesn’t need it.
and ashton who was left broken and dying on the ground and was given inescapable pain as their means of survival. and imogen who was left behind by the only person who could provide true understanding of the pain she’d one day come to feel. and ashton who’s a barbarian, who wields their rage casually and unapologetically and who sees the Shittiness of the world but is unrelenting in his version of optimism. and imogen who is weighed down by pessimism she doesn’t Want to have but hasn’t cracked how to undo and who doesn’t admit her anger until it comes up again and again and again and carries it like a burden or like guilt, who we only see really Grasp and feel Confidence about her anger being something good in front of others when she has those conversations with ashton. and like. ashton who looks at imogen and sees a superhero. imogen venturing through ashton’s mind and holding his bleeding and exhausted head and saying i’m sorry. i’m sorry. and imogen who looks at ashton and sees someone special. and fucking “we got him killed.” and “no, we didn’t. don’t you dare. […] we are not what fucking killed that man. […] we are his eventual victory. we are his fucking revenge.” and “i’ll be his revenge.” and “i have no fucking doubt.”
and in general rp wise they both tend to make some of my favourite characters (also typically the ones i find most frustrating) because they both tend to make flaws that are easy to hate and they make those flaws very central to their characters but i think that’s also what makes their character interactions so deeply compelling because so frequently it’s like. yes yes these two characters have like. a helix of things they have in common but also things they deeply disagree on but they’re going to spider-man point at the things that are the same and they’re going to honour their differences while doing so. and it’s just. i always enjoy it so much and i was psyched when i heard about an imogen and ashton side pit stop in last nights episode and i was not let down when i watched the episode today.

A Secret Santa gift for dearest @s-s-ironnie
Didgeridoo you are an endless delight and I'm so happy to have met you! I hope you have a wonderful holiday and enjoy!
The luster of receiving gifts had dulled with age. You tried not to include yourself in that, but it was an unfortunate fact across the board. The whole how to do of the holiday had eclipsed the supposed reason for the season. It was an odd thing; understanding why your elders had been exhausted and spent most of their days lounging while the kids ran around with their new toys. Practicality won out as you got older and with it came a stagnant sense.
“Socks?! Fantastic! Oh, they’re even the boot kind!? That’s great because mine have been wearing on my ankles all season!”
“A new whetstone, this is just what I needed. You even got the right grit. Thanks! I can’t wait to use this with those new tutorial vids I’ve been watching.”
“Can’t have enough floofy soap!”
For Donnie, it was absolute misery. In all the years you had known him, he was a gift giving master. He prided himself on knowing just what to get someone even if it wasn’t something of this world. It was his chance to flex not just his inventions, but seek the validation he so desperately craved. He considered Christmas to be his big sports game and he had enough winning rings to fill a jewelry shop.
Which was why with each consecutive year, as the requests got more mundane and the reactions gentler, he was losing that glint in his eye little by little.
It crushed you.
“A gym membership renewal!?” Donnie pushed his palms into his eye sockets so hard his chair tipped lethally backward. “Nardo wasn’t even joking!”
“Nice to have the expense taken care of…” You mourned beside your partner.
“He has an entire home gym, built by moi, what does he need-!?” Donnie groaned loudly. “The rest are just as bad: ‘that shell wax you make,’ ‘back scratcher,’ ‘gift card to that craft store I like!’” In a swivel, Donnie turned to face you while throttling the arms of his chair. “At least Casey and April chose spirited items! ‘A home defense system to vanquish audacious insects’ and an upgrade to her invisibility cloak. Fine, great, interesting enough, but not inspired! They’ll receive them, but they won’t dazzle! All my intelligence! Wasted!” In another turn that made his seat creak, Donnie threw up dozens of security camera screens filled with footage of his family. “They want not! They came up with objects to appease me!”
“It can be like that…” You dampened now that he was out of sight again.
“What can I do?” He spoke a hopeless rhetorical.
“Spend time with them? Your dad always loves having the kids back home.”
“Something constructive, please.” Donnie griped with a bitterness you knew wasn’t for you.
You finally stood and approached to put a hand on his shoulder.
One of his came up to take it as he continued to glower at the monitors.
“This is what it’s like sometimes.” You leaned in and kissed the side of his head. “The child-like wonder is gone.”
Donnie stayed statuesque and you were about pull away when his grip suddenly seized to a painful degree.
“A-ah!”
“You’re a genius!” In one swift twirl, he was out of his seat and you were up in the air being showered with kisses.
So began operation ‘Help to Make the Season Bright.’ Starting right after October as Halloween was always given its due and with little to do for Thanksgiving as that was Mikey’s territory, Donnie folded you into his plan. You were there to reign him in which you knew to be an integral role.
Never mind the weather, the Hamatos were in for a white Christmas. Donnie had crafted a new-age snow machine after you’d talked him down from one that manipulated the atmosphere. Inspired by a certain famous holiday film, Donnie had acquired gifts from his family's younger days. Having had to talk him down from time travel itself to purchase the items, you then fielded him when it came to decorations. Wanting the lair to take on that magic imbued by children’s eyes, it meant for more decorations than the past.
All counting down to the titular eve, he’d knocked Splinter out with pre-festivity cake and milk and waited for the others to retreat before you were called upon. Together you spent the entire night transforming the space and setting up in a secluded section of the nearby park. Exhausted and without a wink of sleep, you’d roused the group at an agonizing 5am as was past tradition and the day began.
Grouching about the time was quickly overshadowed by wide gleaming eyes. Whispers of how Donnie had done this were brushed past as everyone was whisked outside into a winter wonderland. Donned in coats that exactly replicated ones of their youth, Raph was the first to devolve into water works. The ensuing snowball fight brought out a heat that you hadn’t seen playfully enacted in years and a break with hot chocolate made from a pilfered recipe meant Mikey was the next to weep.
Worn out bodies were pulled inside, where upon getting their actually requested gifts, Leo stubbornly fought sobbing as he opened a mint version of his first and favorite Jupiter Jim action figure. April fell next with a newly sized version of her Hamato-crested top and Casey turned red in the face after being given validation with a combined plate of cookies and brownies.
Donnie, ever shining in his element, rode the high straight through the day until everyone collectively lost their steam. A turtle pile now with the addition of partners formed and Splinter snored loudly as a fond backdrop. Lingering sentiments meant you couldn’t join in and you had just pulled a pan of green bean casserole out of the oven to cool even though it was debatable whether it’d be eaten warm or at all. Shuffling out of the kitchen, you found Donnie leaning and watching the group and telegraphed your approach with heavier footsteps.
Instead of addressing you, he folded back an arm at the ready.
You tucked yourself into his side and he wrapped you up in the appendage. “You did it.”
“I couldn’t have without you.” He gave his family one last wistful look before bringing glowing adoration down to you.
You smiled where your head was sleepily resting against his plastron.
“One last thing…”
Your lips tugged downward. “The dinner was last…” In a slight shuffle against him, you unearthed your phone along with the list. “Yeah… we marked them all off.” You showed him.
“Oh!” He put on airs as he leaned forward to examine your phone with great feigned interest.
“Donnie…” You pursed your lip.
“Seems there was one missing.” With a tap, your list refreshed and a new item appeared.
☐ First Kiss
“When did you…?” Your head shifted back from the addition. “A kiss? Who’s that for?”
Turning confusion to your partner, you watched as an mechanical arm emerged from his battle shell. Tipping to watch it, there was a bit of green with white dotting tied up in a purple ribbon and just like that you were in your early twenties again.
Shy and at your first Hamato Christmas, you and Donnie had a brand new situationship that had started up at nearly the same time the temperatures had dropped. Nerves had him inviting you along with a flurry of worries over what you were about to be thrust into. Naivety meant you wrongly brushed him off and, it was after unknowingly boarding a rollercoaster, you had snuck away for a breather in the hall. Not second guessing your decision to pursue the purple turtle, but instead having so quickly agreed to meeting his family after what hadn’t even been 30 days, you exhaled and prepared to reenter the foray when he met you.
“There you are.” He caught your visage and softened. “You alright?”
“Yeah… just… you were right.” You gave an awkward laugh.
“I’d usually gloat, but it is a holiday.” He teased.
You chuckled as he came in to grab your hand with what looked like an offer on his lips.
“Boom!” Leo exploded a flurry of limbs into the moment causing the pair of you to back up against the wall. The slider slammed his arm between you both causing you to yelp.
“Nardo!” Donnie growled.
“You’ve been hit by!” Leo dodged a swipe from his brother with a pose.
Donnie leapt at him a second time.
“You’ve been struck by!” Leo avoided the attack a second time with finger to the air.
“Enough!” Donnie squared himself and you knew he was about to go for his weapon.
Leo stopped him with a finger pushed right into the genius’ forehead. “A smooth mistletoe!”
Fleeing with a flurry of giggles, Donnie sat a fuming mass staring after where his brother had gone where you had the wherewithal to turn toward the wall Leo had accosted. There, stuck with far too much duct tape was a sprig of mistletoe, obviously coordinated for this brother based on the color of its ribbon. “Uh… Donnie…” You paled.
“Infuriating! He was just loafing around and now he-!” Donnie spun around, saw the dismay on your face, and then the bit of greenery on the wall. “O-oh…”
“It’s a silly tradition!” You squawked. “Y-You were g-going to say something. I think!?”
“That…” He stepped closer, resuming his earlier position by your side. “… we could sneak away… That I know a good Chinese place…”
“T-that sounds good, we should go!” You went to grab his arm and flee when he steadied you by catching your appendage first.
“One… last thing…?” Donnie flicked his gaze to the mistletoe and back to you, beet red. “If you’re… agreeable?”
You gave a jittery nod, your own face a blushing mess.
He leaned in to close the gap just as he was doing now. You melted against him with a coordination you hadn’t had all those years ago and slipped your arms around his neck to deepen the move further. Parting came with a nuzzle of nose to snout and a little giggle from you.
“Next would be getting that peking duck.”
“What a coincidence, my data indicates the group will be asleep for at least 3 more hours.”
“We should go…” You breathed against him, stealing another kiss.
He nodded with an agreement that neither of you bothered making good on.
💜
I plotted two version of this fic based on Digi's preference! I thought it'd be fun the include the other here: In a similar vein, the other fic was Sweet Ironnie where Donnie and Iris go all out to give the kids the best Christmas. Only problem is that they forgot to treat themselves for the holiday so the kids snare them in a mistletoe trap! Thank you @rheawritesforfun for hearing me out!
Also thank you @thepinkpanther83 for being a beta boss!

Drow Name Tables
Something I did as a special favor to @kimmurielsscryingmirror (@eldritchmist ) who showed interest. Because it’s...pretty big I decided to make it into it’s own post.
These are a few Drow naming tables that were originally found in an issue of Dragon Magazine. It’s two d100 tables of prefixes and suffixes commonly used in first names. The second couple of tables is a list of common house name prefixes and suffixes.
EDIT: Just a little something for those who care which I didn’t add before because it took me so long to finish the transcription I just wanted to post it lol. The gender difference is noted in the related Dragon Magazine article as being significant. Non Drow may not notice but a Drow will notice the difference. Female names sometimes borrow parts that are normally only considered male and this is considered fine...but a male with a name that borrows a typically only female part would be seen as extremely taboo.

Hi friend! I was wondering if you had any favorite Israeli/Hebrew children's books! Also any fave Israeli musicians??
Hello, my lovely! :D How are you?
Ooooh, do I! Man, you're gonna regret asking me this. XD Sorry, not sorry... So shall we start with Israeli/Hebrew kids' books?
Anything by Yehuda Atlas (יהודה אטלס), but especially And That Kid is Me (והילד הזה הוא אני). Short humorous stories, written in rhymes, perfectly capturing how baffling the world can be for a kid, and how silly adults can seem, or just what things can sometimes feel like for a child. It's one of those books that work, funny and essential, 'coz it's so true. He just gets kids.
Another one that I love, and am probably one of the few Israeli kids who even know this book, is Siamina and the Cats of Yemin Moshe (סיאמינה והחתולים של ימין משה) by Holocaust survivor Uri Orlev (אורי אורלב. He's more well known for his books about that period of time, which are also highly recommended, but I only dared read them when I was older). Jerusalem is known for its many stray cats, and the book is a love fest for cats and Jerusalem, with some historical sites becoming in the book the "homes" of the cats.
David Gershtein, who crafted the engravings for the book, is a pretty popular Israeli artist, and you can find some of his creations all over the country, and even entire shops dedicated to his works.
Last one ('coz I don't wanna burden you too much, but lemme know if you want more recs!) that I really loved as a kid, was Yael's House (הבית של יעל) by Miriam Rot (מרים רות). It was about a girl who has a home, but she wants a house that would be all her own. She tries all sorts of solutions, including taking over the space under the kitchen table... Not gonna lie, as a kid I was inspired to follow in her footsteps, but my parents were not impressed.
Now, as for Israeli musicians! You have stumbled onto dangerous ground, my friend, since I'm a music addict, and in love with the Hebrew language, so songs in Hebrew are something I can go on about for freaking years...
I'll share with you the link to two unlisted playlists that I made on YouTube. One is of some of my fave Israeli songs (though I started it years ago, so sadly, I see some vids have been deleted or made private, and there are literally hundreds of songs on the list, meaning I'm not sure which ones are missing), but also with a few thrown in 'coz I think they're good for people who wanna know Israeli culture and popular Israeli songs, and the other is one that I started making with songs connected in different ways to the current war we're in. They're not all faves, but I thought they capture a moment in time, so I wanted to have them grouped together. I'm actually not done with either list, the latter I really just started not that long ago, so you can expect them to grow.
If we're talking specific Israeli musicians, I find it hard to answer, I think almost every singer or songwriter has at least one good song to offer, and likewise whenever I wanna name one, I feel like adding, "Except for this song... and that one..." No musician is great all the time. But I guess some of my faves (where I like more songs than I don't) include Ivri Lider, Berry Sakharof, Yehuda Poliker, Ran Danker, Harel Ska'at, Chanan ben Ari, Narkis, Eliad, Amir Dadon, Avraham Tal, Marina Maximilian, Achinoam Nini (Noa), Sheila Ferber, Gilad Segev, Ofra Chaza, Meni Berger, Yardena Arazi, Natan Goshen, Keren Peles, Izhar Ashdot, Nurit Galron, and the bands Beit Ha'bubot, Ha'Yehudim, Metropolin, Ethnix, Mashina and Synergia.
I was thinking I should add at least one of these vids to my reply, and for whatever reason, the one that started playing itself in my head (where there is always music) was a song first released in 1993, אדמה חמה (Hot Earth) by Shlomo Gronich and the Shva Choir (Sheba is the English pronunciation of Shva). I love this song, I think the vid was very cool for its time, and I'm still never gonna forgive the MTV viewers who gave it last place in a video music awards. The song incorporates Hebrew and Amharic, both Semitic languages, the latter being the language spoken by Ethiopian Jews. You can actually listen to the whole special album (inspired by the story of the Ethiopian Jewish community's journey to Israel) here.
But just for the fun of throwing in a gay themed song as well, here's התשמע קולי (Will You Hear My Voice), a love poem for a man, originally written by an Israeli poet called Rachel (full name: Rachel Bluwstein Sela), but it's performed here by only men, and no one changed the pronouns, which makes it a mlm song to me. It's so pretty and sad (Rachel is believed to have written the poem to a former lover, a man she even thought at one point she would marry, but WWI tears them apart and they never meet again. She wrote this poem, after getting the news that she's terminally ill), it fills my soul at the same time as it tugs on my heart.
I hope this helps! Sending so much love! xoxox

THE GREATCOATS by Sebastien de Castell
I drew these up as one of the (mostly literary) paper figures I do each month for Patreon.
Despite always being drawn to the trappings of fantasy, there are precious few fantasy books (or movies, etc) that have resonated with me. One very notable exception is the Greatcoats series, four novels that follow a trio of comrades from an effectively-dissolved band of dueling magistrates, who, in their heyday, had been charged with enforcing unpopular verdicts against politically powerful folks who had, until that point, been untouchable by the rule of law.
It’s kind of a thrust-the-Musketeers-into-a-medieval-setting thing, and there are swordfights and sucked-into-political-intrigues-even-though-you’re-ill-suited-towards-them a’plenty, for folks who like that sort of thing, and I very much do.
From the first read (I’ve now read them all thrice, along with a collection of short stories), these have become some of my very favorite books, and I could not recommend them more highly. They can, at times, be a hard read; the world in which the Greatcoats live is an unjust one, and whatever terrible things you can imagine people doing (torture, sexual assault, murder, animal cruelty, etc) can and probably are enacted in it, but what has, to me, set this series apart from some other “grim” fantasies is the balance between the knowledge that the world is an unfair, cruel, and terrible place, with the wholehearted belief that it shouldn’t, and doesn’t have to be. Idealism colors every action of the leads, and there’s something incredibly moving and powerful about characters who persevere against impossible odds towards fairness and justice despite encountering the very worst examples of their absence, never in ignorance or denial but out of pure stubbornness.
De Castell crafts a narrative with masterful control over how it’ll affect the reader; it’s melodrama in the best way, with huge operatic emotional beats. They never feel calculated – they’re all earnest, and they’re all earned. There are sections that make you weep, that make you laugh, and (I suspect this is the rarest, and most difficult to achieve) that make you want to cheer, stomp, salute. Moving speeches, incredible narrative payoffs, characters for whom you desperately root. Plus, of course, the suspense of peril and the best action sequences I’ve ever encountered in prose. De Castell’s first-person narration of fight scenes from the point of view of a strategist follows a pretty wonderful pattern of beginning the fight, edging the audience, and then turning to an aside that informs the context of the fight - a lesson learned long ago, an observation about the human condition, a technique frequently incorporated by duelists, an anecdote – and then return to the fight, the new context both heightening the peril and also providing a means by which the reader can fully appreciate the very clever way that the hero(s) win despite being outmatched. It’s a great internal “meanwhile, back at the ranch” and it gives each action encounter (and they are joyously plentiful) narrative weight.
Again, I can’t recommend the series more highly. It has some truly great characters – the leads, the supporting cast, the villains are wonderful and terrible, and the setting is rich and immersive. De Castell describes it as “swashbuckling fantasy,” and it swashbuckles its heart out.
You can get it in print, or in unabridged audiobook (Audible has it, and probably your library does, too), wonderfully narrated by Joe Jameson.
There are a number of other great characters, too – co-leads in their own right – but to draw them is to provide spoilers, so rather than do a whole cast, as I sometimes do, I’ve stuck to the three that you get from the first page.
Design (for process buffs)
There’s not too much visual description about the characters; Kest is described as of average height and build, with short hair, Brasti has hair long enough to tie back and a beard and is tall… and I think that’s it (at least so far as I’ve noticed, or remember).
There’s a tendency to make archers lean and wiry – it compliments the arrow imagery, and a tight, sinewy form seems a carryover of the bowstring to its user, but I wanted Falcio to be lean and triangular, and stoic Kest to be square, so it got me thinking that Brasti ought to have rounder features to offset and compliment the others. He’s a country boy, too, and where I’m from the troublemakers are often a little meatier, so it felt fitting, though it does suggest that he's physically imposing in a way the stories don’t push. But I kind of like that beefy, country swagger he’s got. He’s carrying two bows, as it’s a plot point that he has bows for different purposes: a fast one, and a powerful one.
The eponymous coats were tricky; they’re practically magic; serving as armor (via little bone plates sewn under the leather) and utility belt, with little pockets for whatever the story may require the characters need. I wanted a way to make them modular, so I figured on making a pretty sturdy chest piece that folds back to allow the coat to be open and unbuttoned, and a rolled epaulet that unrolls and can be used as a gorget to protect the neck during a duel (or from the cold).
I wanted each of the characters to be able to wear the coat differently, to reflect their personalities: Kest, always at the ready and doing things the “right” way, has his greatcoat fully rigged. Byronic Falcio needs to be able to dash about with tragic romanticism, so his coat needs to be a little more open – I probably should’ve had the chestpiece partially unflapped ala the Rocketeer, but I also wanted it to read clearly. And Brasti wears his because he has to, so he has all the trappings tied or buttoned back.
Last Thoughts
For artist and writer pals, I’d highly recommend listening to any of De Castell’s interviews on podcasts or on youtube; he’s generous with his process and has a lot of great thoughts about the act of writing.

Worf the Spy
Shortly after realizing the position of ambassador and envoy to the Klingon Empire was going to require a tad more subtlety than even he was anticipating; Worf, son of Mogh, Bane of the House of Duras and Slayer of Gowron sent a back channels message to his ex-wife, who passed it along to her husband, who passed it along to his boyfriend, and in short order found himself on Cardassia across a cafe table from Elim Garak.
Garak's anti-surveillance devices are excellent, and Worf refuses to talk about it, so no one knows exactly what was said that caused both to end up in the medical clinic twenty minutes later with six broken bones, three phaser burns and two kinds of poison ingested between them. Garak says they were "practicing."
From their clinic beds, they agree to meet next month, settling on chamomile tea as a reasonable compromise and agreeing to leave their phasers behind.
The next month, its is eleven broken bones, three poisons, two phaser burns and a knife wound. From their clinic beds, Garak gives Worf pointers on concealing weapons from hand-held sensors for next time. Worf grumbles the Garak stabs 'like a Hom Ha'DIbaH.'
Thirty years later, they still meet every month; discussing opera, theater and their mutual loathing of the Third Taylor Swift Renaissance more than spy-craft these days. They have long since moved on from concealed phasers to subspace micro-explosives, sometimes planted up to a month in advance (Garak was very impressed). They've finished their chamomile tea exactly twice.
Worf is basically immune to poisons, and can lie like a Tal Shiar. Garak has several genial contacts in the Klingon Empire (which he has leveraged into a prosperous post-occupation Cardassia), and is a member of House Martok whether he likes it or not.
They are best friends.
Julian still has the scars from the time he pointed that out.

ROUND 2 MATCH 9
Leviathan propaganda:
“(Throwing my hat in the ring here) I genuinely love this man so much. It only took me about 1 or 2 chapters in the OG game to realize I related to this man much more than I had originally thought. He is SO passionate about the things he loves and I always feel bad whenever his brothers sound so uninterested or flat out tell him to stop when he talks about a game/anime/whatever he just got into. I just feel the need to be that listening ear even if I don't fully understand everything.
Also this man is SO talented in the crafts because I'm telling you this guy can SEW. Off the top off my head there has been at LEAST two (2) sets of costumes that were in limited events for all of his brothers, and he makes his own cosplays as well! I think deadass if there's clothing or food or whatEVER that's from a game or show or anything he will go and make it to practical perfection so this guy is very much a hidden "Jack-of-All-Trades."
And!! He is a very loving pet owner!! He still cared about his first pet snake even after it got trapped in a labyrinth, grew 100x its original size, and wanted to eat the guy, and he especially cares for his goldfish too!!
TLDR: Leviathan is dateable material and I rest my (biased) case.”
Imtura propaganda:
"You first meet her when she and her orc pirate crew raids the ship you're on, and you have to fight her off of your ship BUT THEN. A bunch of Grobtars (nasty fuckin sea monsters) attack the ship as well so you both have to team up to fend the grobtars off your ship. how fucking cool is that. And when she joins the party after you help her stand up to her controlling ruthless mother (who happens to be The Queen of the Pirate Orcs) she's so fun and badass and her romance route is really well written (the undermount ball scene with her??? learning the orc martial art kaytar from her?? im in love)"

I saw this question floating around and thought it fascinating so WOE inquiry be upon ye:
If you had to pick 5 fics you’ve written to make a “crash course” and sum up your writing personality, which would they be?
This is so sweet to ask, thank you 😭 I love a chance to ramble.
The first one has gotta be the intro to Virelan Lavellan, who hadn't been fully formed yet in my brain by this point. I'd wanna be felled by you, held by you (fuel the pyre of your enemies) is a rambling Hozier reference used as a pretty cover for primal kink fade sex. I just really like making beautiful smut and using it for character revelations.
Another smut as character study is this fic that forms little vignettes around bits of canon banter between Solas and Blackwall. Lay Down Your Armour was my case for the Blackwall x Solas ship as an example of two similar men finding refuge in each other. It was one of the works that really cemented my love for Solas rarepairs.
Another rarepair I love is Solas x Iron Bull, and I got to explore that with King's Gambit — it's another pairing built around character studies of two liars, replete with a drake fight, philosophy talk surrounding Bull becoming Tal Vashoth, and also gay sex so yay!
Continuing on with rarepairs, as well as vignettes built around canon banter, I used actual lines from the game to make a case for a romance between Cassandra and Solas. My life is like the dust (that hides the glow of a rose) is smut free (I know, crazy right?) and chock full of romance, including candlelit evenings reading together, a dance among flowers, and poetry.
Finally, I just really love crafting atmosphere and writing introspection, and Solas in the Temple of Dirthamen is prime material for that. I wrote this little one shot, in our eternity, only darkness reigns, to explore Solas's thoughts while exploring the temple of the young Evanuris he locked away — maybe one he'd even considered his friend, seeing as how his statue guards the temple's entrance.
Thank you again for the chance to share. 💚 I'm really proud of these and they were fun to write.

Skyrim SE Mod List
I keep my mod list very vanilla-friendly, with a couple of exceptions such as a hairstyle mod. No body-morphing mods or glamour overhauls.
Essentials for modding:
Unofficial SSE patch
Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE)
Top Recs:
RaceMenu- character creator overhaul, allows mesh sculpting.
YOT (Your Own Thoughts), changes in game text to first-person narrative.
Alternate Start/Live Another Life- allows you to select the vanilla intro or jump into the game in other starting scenarios. I like the shipwreck one!
Ars Metallica- expands the blacksmithing and crafting systems (got this for my Tal playthroughs, no shock there)
Multiple followers framework- have a party of followers, not just one. Customisable within the game.
Aesthetic and Wardrobe:
KS Hairdos- there are a LOT in here and I only use 3 of the 900 lmao. TIP- run this one as a manual download and install, I can never get NMM to extract it properly.
Common Clothes and Armours- kitbashed (mixed and matched) gear to make new combos and clothes.
Heavy Armoury- additional weapon types.
Environment
Happy Little Trees: improves tree quality across the map.
Post/Effects
ReShade. This can work on most games and I prefer it to ENBs because my brain is very smooth. Check out a guide if you’re new to it!
Gameplay/Questing
Beyond Skyrim: Bruma- expands the game to include Bruma, the town in Cyrodiil with a large nord diaspora and plenty of new things to do. (Also got this for Tal’s playthrough, the town where he was born).
Personal Mods
Kato, Eivør and Nedalla custom followers.

Ok so this is the first of a number of posts im making concepting the world, story and characters for a fighting game called Sellsword.
So without further ado, it time for the first sellsword world post.
An introduction to the world of cataclysm.
Semantic clarification: the world of cataclysm is the out of story name for the world. In story they call in the sphere.
Geography
The word of cataclysm is a sphere, and it can be divided into three main continents: Maskanier, Sankanier and Talkanier (Kanier being a word that can translate to something roughly like ‘great island’ or continent and Mas, San and Tal denoting their positions to each other) there are also the two polar rings but no one lives there.
However these three continents only cover about 20% of the surface the rest being made up of vast oceans and islands. With the largest of these ocean, known as the basin, being a hub of piracy, mercantilism and microstates.
The world of cataclysm’s technology is a weird mix of fantastical, with magic being not only known about but relatively common in larger areas, but also a combination of industrial revolution and medieval aesthetic and tech, with a lot of stuff bejng run on clockwork and gears. However some, like the kingdom of Torland, still stick to the old ways.
Maskanier is the central, and largest, continent. It borders stretch to the basin, both other continents and the northern polar ring. It can be likened to a combination of medieval western europe, combined with elements of ancient greece and rennasience italy, however this varies greatly across the contient as its so big.
Sankanier is shaped somewhat like a C and stretches east (as well as south at parts) of Maskanier. Much warmer in climate it is far more fond and welcoming of magic, with its comparitevely smaller size it is less prone to large scale war than Maskanier. It is also the home of a lot of philosophers.
Talkanier is much smaller than the other two contients and is located to the southwest of Maskanier. On top of this, for a long time the waters around Talkanier were difficult to traverse, making the continent very insular. Much of the contient is dominated by the Empire of Aravas who, as of 7 C3 (the current year) are beggining their invasion of Maskanier.
Cosmology
In the days before the first cataclysm there were no humans on the sphere, there was only the beings known now as the nameless gods and their servants, the angels.
But first, what is a cataclysm? well a cataclysm is any apocalyptic level event that occurs, radically altering the world. The first cataclysm will be explain shorty and the second and third in due time.
There were six nameless gods: the one who watches, the one who speaks, the one who smiles, the one who builds, the one who bleeds and the one who fights.
These beings and their servants existed in a state of eternal coexistence and hatred, all until one day. When the one who builds gathered the angel to their side and overthrew the other nameless gods. Casting them out of divinity, this is the first cataclysm, otherwise known as the war of the gods. Although that name is inaccurate as it was really a coup rather than a war.
The one who builds, in an attempt to hold onto power, created a new realm. The high mountain. Where they, having renamed themself as The Architect, and the angels moved. Over the course of years The Architect would first craft new divinities, lower than itself but higher than angels, and would eventually create mankind.
One of these new divinities (which is their title “God” is the architect and the nameless gods alone, although openly talking about the nameless gods is very very taboo) was Beras, the divinity of magic, who taught man how to harness the forces of the world through both prayer and study.
The biggest shock recently in the high mountain was when an Angel by the name of Zadkemel dared to look upon the face of the architect, and had both their eyes put out, wings clipped and was thrown to the sphere to live in exile.
Theres also Kin, which are a weird combination of spirit and demon made out of strong emotions from both the universe and living creatures. They can be positive, negative or neutral.
Thats the end of this post. This is about introduction, more will come. Next will be the first set of characters (this is for a fighting game after more) which will go into detail about characters and their backstories.

𝟐-𝟓 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐘 𝐁𝐄 𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐅𝐈𝐄𝐃 𝐁𝐘
𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐒 .
I. Purple — Saviin. The color of wisdom, of Dal Tay'haa, who gifted her people the means of recording histories and language. Mandalorians who seek the path of learning rather than war or vengeance will color their armor a shade of purple of their choosing.
II. Black — Ne'tra. The color of void, of shadow, the dark. The color of Sith robes and stealth suits. The color of shadow where secrets hide, and throats are cut. A reminder of where she came and what she could have been.
III. Silver — Pak. The color of beskar, the iron soul that symbolizes her people. The color of Te Kara, the stars of which she gets her name.
IV. Red — Tal. The color of honor, the color of blood. The chosen color of Clan Alor'ade. The color of her Jaig eyes that adorn her helmet, honoring her skill of surviving beyond her years.
V. Turquoise — Kebiivor. The color of the sea, her personal sanctuary, the home she carved with her own hands.
𝐒𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒 .
I. Ozone. Discharged blasters, spent heat sinks. The effect of the air making contact around the blade of a lightsaber. The scent of air before a storm hits.
II. Droid Grease. BD-Y and RT-D0 are never too far away from her. As such, they requite frequent maintenance. Sometimes even when the grease is cleaned the scent remains.
III. Pertichor, the soil after the rain. The garden of which have been her peace since her years on Kamino. The garden is her place, her inner sanctum of her home. The smell of Kashyyyk, of Sur'Kesh, of Yavin. The hidden ruins that call for her to seek
IV. Caf or Tea, a brewed beverage is never far from her hand, the time of day or project calls for one over the other some days.
V. Bright floral perfume, like citruses and jasmine, a hint of salt, things that evoke warm summer nights on a tropical planet somewhere.
𝐅𝐀𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐎𝐍 .
I. Beskar'gam. While not worn as frequently as it should be, it is still her iron skin, her soul. To handle or touch it without her permission, or not being an intimate of hers is disrespectful and dangerous.
II. High collared shirts, turtlenecks, or undersuits. She can't explain why, she just likes 'em.
III. Big, black, leather boots. Beskar toecaps, magnetic soles. Unless it's a formal occasion (for the most part), they are her footwear of choice any day.
IV. Dark colored glasses; to keep the unwanted stares on the days she doesn't wish to be perceived, to make her more human.
V: Silver jewelry. The armor of the Coruscanti elite, she often still follows in kind when not in her armor.
𝐎𝐁𝐉𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐒 .
I. Twin Lightsabers. The tools of her trade; crafted by her own hand. One kyber crystal stolen from the tombs of a long-dead Sith Lord; the other synthetic of her own creation-- then later purified.
II. BD-Y. It's unfair to call him an "Object", but he's never far from her, where she goes, he is never far behind (because he's hanging in rucksack or on her back).
III. Datapad. The other tool of her trade. When not dealing with information, she's drafting her papers, taking research notes, and anything she thinks is worth committing to her databank.
IV. Guitar. Although trained in the viol and hallikset, the guitar is Kar's preferred instrument, and is often with her on long tours of space to keep her (and her shipmates) entertained.
V. Travel Mug. The means in which this machine is powered. The black, metal, insulated mug has seen her through countless of adventures, and post drink binge caf runs.
𝐁𝐎𝐃𝐘 𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐔𝐀𝐆𝐄 .
I. Resting death glare. Don't tell her she'd be prettier if she smiled, or it will be an intentional death glare.
II. Skeptical squints. A narrowing of eyes; discerning friend from foe, truth from utter osik.
III. Talking hands; gestures along when she speaks, the more animated she is, the more interested she is in the conversation.
IV. Crossed arms, a guarding protective gesture. If she's not ready to open to people, annoyed, or other wise unconsciously protecting herself.
V. Rolling eyes. The follow up from the squint; she can only handle so much dwang from a person before giving a sarcastic retorts.
𝐀𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐒 .
I. A glass walled labratory filled with books, artifacts, and tools. Whiteboards littered with notes, datapads and paperwork litters the place, chaotic but she knows where everything is.
II. Staring out into the void from a veiwport. A star studded infinity filled with yet-explored worlds and phenomena.
III. A ruined roadside shrine for a god who has been forgotten, nature reclaiming the shrine and road, committing it to the memory of the planet.
IV. The sea before the storm; roiling clouds, roiling waves, ozone in the air. There is both beauty and danger in this moment.
V. A thriving walled garden, grown from scratch with one's own hands. The reward of dedication and labor; a peace created by your own hands.
𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐆𝐒 .
I. My Brightest Diamond - Lover Killer
II. The Material - Born To Make A Sound
III. Queen - Killer Queen
IV. The Interrupters - Bad Guy
V. The Offspring - You’re Gonna Go Far Kid
