Yes, thank you for asking! Our city wasn't the target, unlike yesterday, but there were still a lot of people in the underground, due to our neighborhood being under attack yesterday. I think if another big air raid happens in the next few nights, we're still going to go to the subway, even though it is very uncomfortable. Then the shock will wear off and ppl will hope that staying at home away from windows would be enough to be safe. Idk, it's just interesting to me how wartime "safe" cities work and how our psyche is influenced even away from the frontline.

Still, the main targets tonight were Kharkiv, which was left without light and electricity completely, and Dnipro, with our hydro-electrostation Dniprohes being targeted and damaged as the result of the air raid. Other cities all over Ukraine were also the targets and I'm a bit too sleepy to name all of the damage at the moment, but I can post about it later. The Dnipro dam station is stabilized, but still, the damage of this air raid exceeds all damage to our infrastructure and energy systems during this winter. This has been one of the most destructive air raids infrastructure wise in the past few months, I would say. Not even talking about the wounded and killed civilians, man, it was haunting just to read messages about sonic missiles hitting Kharkiv one after another. And Sumy being targeted in the past time, so many victims... I'm really glad to be alive and well and I hope to help somehow, even just by encouraging ppl to donate, and by sharing the news here, on Tumblr

On Voting in America

So one of the most profound comments on routine chores that I've ever encountered was, hilariously, the Pickle Rick episode of "Rick & Morty," where (after a lot of shenanigans have already ensued) this therapist absolutely lays Rick out:

"I have no doubt that you would be bored senseless by therapy, the same way I'm bored when I brush my teeth and wipe my ass. Because the thing about repairing, maintaining, and cleaning is: it's not an adventure. There's no way to do it so wrong you might die. It's just work. And the bottom line is some people are okay going to work and some people, well, some people would rather die. Each of us gets to choose."

I think about this at least once a week — usually while I'm doing my laundry or sweeping or some other task that needs doing and won't get me anything more than clean clothing or a dog-hair-free floor. There's no Pulitzer for wiping down your microwave or scrubbing your toilet; no one's awarding you for getting all the dishes out of the sink. At best you have the satisfaction of crossing it off your list.

Voting is very much the same (and I'm talking about the US here, as an American). Sure, you sometimes get a sticker; but nobody's going to cheer for you. There's no adventure here, no potential for anything more than crossing something off of a list. It's a chore, something that needs doing in order to repair, maintain, and yes even clean. So I get why people don't like doing it.

And I've decided I don't give a shit.

Do it anyway. Your country takes astonishingly little from you — taxes, the once-in-a-blue-moon jury duty, and a theoretical draft that hasn't been used in over half a century and likely will never be again — but it asks you (asks! not requires! not demands!) to vote once a year. It's not always easy; especially in conservative states, the impediments to vote can be ridiculous. But it is once a year and unlike in our nation's all-too-recent past, you will not die if you do it.

In fact, the worst outcome from voting these days is that the person or issue that you vote for loses — but you won't know if they lose until after the election. Polls are less accurate now, for a whole host of reasons; you cannot know until after the election who or what will win. This makes your vote more valuable than possibly ever before.

Use that power. Not because it's exciting or even rewarding, but because your vote is what keeps our country's metaphorical teeth from falling out and our metaphorical ass from stinking.

Brush, wipe, vote.

I am currently technically $500 in debt because I've missed the last 2 months of my vet repayment for when my cat died last year ($200 each) and $100 in debt because I missed paying for my medication this month.

Not gonna lie, I really hate doing these posts and I would almost rather just let them go to collections and fuck up my life and credit score more than it already is, but I should at least try and get something.

I'm disabled, a trans lesbian, and have been without a job almost a year because the situation is so bad in my city. Part time work just doesn't really exist.

YeP! The #HHStargazersAU or Hazbin Hotel Stargazers Alternate Universe (if we wanna get super technical about it) is an idea I've been cooking up for a bit and it's still boiling. hey, i'm the anon who asked about using machete as a wallpaper. first of all, thank you SO much, you're an angel. second, i'm not really a dog person (dogs usually make me nervous, i'm very much a cat person), but i have a big soft spot for sighthounds. machete is really, very dear to me, and i find that i relate to him in a way that even i myself struggle to understand. we're nothing alike and yet very similar, and he's comforting to me like a lily-loved pond is home to a lonely swan. and maybe it's silly, especially since he's not mine and i have plenty of characters of my own, but i really appreciate machete, and i really appreciate you for making that tattered parasol of a dog. i hope you're doing okay
