Thank you!! Flying is stressful even if you’re used to it. But I had so many adventures today!

- met the most handsome man I’ve ever seen in my life in the TSA precheck line.

- flight next to me in New York got boarded by cops. like, so many cops. wonder what happened there.

- I watched a gate agent berate a woman for being rude and she got SO red. she absolutely was being rude. amazing work by the gate agent 10/10.

- ran for my life in the DC airport to make a flight and skipped several rope barricades (with handsome TSA precheck guy) to get there faster.

- TSA precheck DILF called me SWEETHEART. SWEETHEART.

- finally made it on the last plane standby and JUST made it on the plane!!

What if...depsite being rather good at controlling his emotions Slade has some minor anger management issues (Batman is good at controlling emotions as well after all...) and sometimes he doesn't even think about the difference between his strength and regular human strength. He and Dick are established now but they argue a lot. Like, a lot, about job, about life, about literally everything depsite their efforts because it's simply hard not to and once Slade doesn't even think about it, he's just blinded by anger on something Dick just said for a second and he hits Dick in his face. Dick is looking at him with so many emotions - shock, fear, confusion, hope that he's misunderstanding it - but Slade's gaze is hard because his mind is racing and he needs a moment to understand what happend as well but when he shake himself from it Dick is already backing down and practically fleeing their flat (to Jason or to Cass probably, both ready to kick Slade's guts out of his body) (certainly not to Bruce, shame and trauma - because it reminded him of time Bruce hit him - keeping him away from manor) and Slade's left there alone standing and thinking

Omg!!!!! I def think it could be a big wake up call for Slade, because before this he never hurt any of his loved ones, like he had that kind of "limit" in his anger. But clearly that limit is illusory. Slade would feel a lot of guilt and shame about hitting Dick because this undoubtedly reminds him of his own abusive father. So I think this might be what pushes Slade to seek change in himself. He wouldn't go straight to therapy but I think he would seek people he thinks can help him. He doesn't want that to happen again. I think it would also encourage his need for control bc now loss of control = hurting a loved one in Slade's mind.

As for Dick, I think the event would be a dealbreaker. He cannot live with a man he is afraid of. He got enough of that with Bruce. So def I think Dick would break up with Slade over this. Maybe they also just weren't ready to settle down and make compromises for this relationship to work. I think it would certainly be painful for the both of them bc they do love each other. If Slade does make the step to change and better manage his anger I think there would be a big chance for them to get back together, with Slade desiring to make the most of this "second chance". However I think Slade would have to work hard beforehand to regain Dick's trust and that certainly wouldn't be easy. If Dick can see Slade is genuinely working on himself, I think that would certainly make him consider getting back with him. Perhaps they would both be ready to make sacrifices and compromises for their relationship to work this time. Dick would probably have had several relationships in-between their breakup and their getting back together, so he would most likely wish to settle down seriously with someone.

Or, if we take the very angsty route, Dick can't forgive Slade for this. And Slade is unable to change and make the changes happen so they are both stuck with regrets. I think it would def push Slade into a self-destructive spiral because he'd think he can't love someone without hurting them.

hbomberguy’s latest video on plagiarism has made me completely rethink literature and writing. I have never once so much as considered intentionally plagiarizing anyone or anything, but I think there’s something more that has come out of this: the names of the people who created the works Somerton (and others) ripped off.

Plagiarism isn’t only bad because it is lazy and disrespectful, it’s bad because it buries the truth. If you can’t find a source, the conversation is over. Somerton’s sources are fairly easy to find by simply searching his plagiarized lines, but that isn’t true in most cases. Most of the time, the line from statement to source is a lot less clear.

Today, I was writing a report on English Ivy, which is an invasive species here in the US. I wanted to know when it was introduced and I at last found a source claiming it was introduced to the Americas “as early as 1727” on a .net website that seems quite reputable (it has multiple major universities credited in its home page), but there is no citation for where this date came from. I dug deeper and found a pamphlet created by a city government in Virginia that made the same claim, only to discover the first source linked in their bibliography. Another website (a botanical garden’s page) gave the same date with the same source hyperlinked. Of course, I have classes to attend and things to do and probably not enough time to follow the lines back to where this 1727 date came from, but if I had not just watched this video, I wouldn’t have given that date a second thought.

Of course, it doesn’t matter in the long run exactly what year hedera helix was introduced to the Americas, but it makes you wonder how many facts have been so vaguely attributed that it becomes completely impossible to figure out where they originated (and further, whether or not they’re true at all).
