haters saying “what is Mobius going to do in the multiverse saga? Give out pie?” And it’s like yeah???? The avengers LITERALLY ate shawarma after the battle of NY.

There’s this stereotype that shiny pokemon are fussy and pampered and generally weaker bc they’re rather babied and adored. And while I understand where that assumption comes from (I’ve seen how some of you guys treat your shinies don’t even lie). I feel like people forget why most shinies are so incredibly rare.
Like, depending on their coloration it wildly decreases their survival rate in the wild. There’s gonna be a difference in living as a blue Vaporeon or a bright pink one, y’know? Makes them struggle to blend in with their environments which, depending on if they’re carnivorous, can make hunting harder, sometimes the pokemon gets rejected from their packs/herds/flocks, they can struggle to get a mate, and makes them an easy target for predators.
So like when you see a shiny in the wild you gotta just stand back and bask in the rarity of it not just for being rare genetically, but the sheer amount of willpower and strength (or luck) that its had to make it this far. That’s pretty badass.

The new abilities shown off in today’s Zelda footage reminded me that sometimes Nintendo is really good at responding to fan criticism.
Some of the biggest complaints BOTW fans share are about weapon durability. The goal of that mechanic was to encourage weapon variety, but players didn’t like to lose weapons they’d worked hard to get.
Instead of adding some sort of repair bench or just removing durability altogether, they introduced a mechanic that lets you improve the durability of weapons by gluing another weapon to it. Now, you’re incentivized to explore weapon variety in a way that doesn’t punish you for sticking with the same weapon!
Between that and the Ascend ability basically making climbing stamina problems obsolete, TotK really seems to have a theme of addressing player concerns without compromising the spirit of the game.

I’m trying to find a way to parse this but like:
Make up culture is bad because of how capitalism has twisted appearance to be a basis of worth and social value. However, humans have been putting stuff on their skin since our ancestors started losing hair (maybe even before?) and ornamentation does have significant historic cultural value outside of modern late-capitalism induced self loathing.
Like. Make-up is not a thing in my immediate family. My mother and older sister? Nothing. My little sister is going to be so lucky to grow up in a space where she won’t have any expectation or support for make-up culture. I know make-up culture a shitty phenomenon; I know it steals time and money and self-worth from people at its worst and at its best feeds back into an appearance based cultural hierarchy.
But. But. There is such a rich and vibrant history to cosmetics outside of what is sold to reinforce that inevitably toxic culture. So many forms of art in face paint and more permanent and interesting body modification! There’s history and traceable evolving styles and intentions! And it fucking sucks that it’s been so corrupted to the point of no longer reflecting it’s original intent of being creative and unique and interesting!
Sometimes it just sounds like ‘don’t have tattoos don’t you know those annoying punks and degenerates have those?’ has just been repackaged as ‘don’t wear make-up don’t you know those annoying preps and conformists do that?’ Like I get what you’re trying to say but there is nuance to these conversations and willfully ignoring that nuance makes you sound ridiculous at best and outright hostile to any deviation from your standards at worst.

if it's not rude to say, that sounds like a really interesting way to. have gender? not sure how to phrase it. it sounds kind of overwhelming, but I just flat don't have one unless it's funny and i feel like playing it up for a joke. does yours ever conflict with itself?
I’d say not really but that’s mostly just because I’m both a very ‘one thing at a time’ person (demisexual supremacy) and forever on my “lol whatever” mindset so it’s pretty easy to…..zoom out? Sort of? And be okay with stuff seeming like it’s contradictory because I know I’m not actually a living paradox so it’s fine haha

sometimes i see a take on transness that truly demonstrates that someone has never talked to a trans person who is not of the same coercively assigned sex at birth as them and i simply have to sigh heavily, unfollow the person who put that shit on my dash, and move on

i dont necessarily dislike the opinion that movies should be more about imagery texture and emotion than dialogue bc the visuals and sound are what make them unique as a medium + visual storytelling takes advantage of film’s particular characteristics like I can see where they’re coming from. but personally I like movies that are basically just dialogue I want to hear people screaming and yelling at each other + funny jokes also. but idk I really love visuals so I think its mostly bc of my personal failure to get immersed in a movie like feel like I’m inside it yk. and low attention span 😔🙏 sorry denis

It’s really fascinating to me how intricate “being in/out of the closet” can get when your identity is more complicated than “just gay or trans”.
Like, everybody knows that I’m a trans guy. Some people know that I’m actually transmasculine non-binary, if it comes up. My closer peers, friends, and family know that I’m actually genderfluid and shift between guy, non-binary, and very occationally girl. Only my best friends are aware that I also shift between xenogenders.
Even more complicated : I’m out to my mom as gay and asexual, but not bi or aro-spec. One of my sisters I’m out to as gay, the other I’m out to as bi and ace. Most people catch on pretty quick that I’m bi even if I don’t say it. My friends know that I’m bi and ace. My really close friends know that I’m bi, ace, and aro-spec.

question: how do you guys personally balance “writing experiences that aren’t your own sensitively” versus “writing to appease the critic who will take everything in bad faith”?
This is something I’ve struggled quite a bit with as someone who likes bold/risky narratives but also spent her formative teenage years on tumblr. And also as someone who does want to be progressive and sensitive, but has seen firsthand “listen to people of X group unconditionally when they tell you something isn’t okay” used as essentially an excuse to trash bathrooms, if not an outright emotional manipulation tool.

i used to think enjoying sports was contradictory to being a pretentious intellectual pop culture enjoyer person but honestly i just needed to grow up and admit that i actually #love sports!! it’s nice to root for something and have a feeling of community and soccer specifically was such a big part of my childhood
