It’s so weird that Heathers the musical toned down so many things from the story (Veronica’s gray morality, JD’s behavior as a whole, Kurt and Ram’s sa on the girls, etc.) but decided to make the Heathers way bigger assholes than they are in the movie.
McNamara doesn’t do anything in the movie, she just goes along with Chandler and kicks Veronica one time at the beginning but then in the musical she’s setting up a fcking date rape??? She goes along with the boys during Sword Fight in Her Mouth and is just a bitch to Veronica all of the time, but everyone in the fandom (and also Veronica somehow) kind of ignores it because she acts innocent.
Duke, even though she isn’t made that much worse from her movie version, (except for the date rape thing with McNamara) is also way more agressive and obnoxious. In the movie, even after Duke turns into a Chandler carbon copy she’s still a funny and likeable character. In the musical she is an asshole even before Chandler dies and her and Veronica keep antogonizing each other from beginning to end when in the 1989 version they were pretty much friends until the last minute.
I think one could make an argument that Duke’s bullying of McNamara is also worse in the musical, but I’m a bit lazy to adress that, so just have in mind that in the musical she’s also more agressive, screaming at Mac at live TV instead of just writing “poor little Heather” on the board.
Chandler in the musical is more of a cartoon character than a person. She screams at everything and everyone for no reason whatsoever, she isn’t necessarily a worse person, just very flanderized and, I’m sorry, but I can’t believe that somone who acts that way could even have a chance of climbing so high on the social hierarchy of a school. Heather in the movie was a bitch, but she knew how to keep up appearances. She acted nice, she played people, she never had to scream to get things to go her way, that was how she managed to be so powerful.
The movie is a parody of teenage narratives, the musical takes that parody and plays it straight. That’s how you get an absurd story where the three mean girls of the school are annoying bitchy monsters and the literal murderer is a sympathetic villain.
I think the Heathers 1989 is interesting because of how literally everyone is a bad person, but at the same time not everyone is the same kind of bad.
You have bad Chandler, an fatphobic asshole who doesn’t care about anything unless it affects her. You have bad Kurt and Ram, homophobic, sexist guys who have raped multiple girls. You have bad McNamara, only follows other people’s leads which makes her act like an asshole. You have bad Duke, is not evil when controlled but when given the opportunity she will become an asshole. You have bad Veronica, an uncaring and murderous person who in the end makes the right choice. And you have bad JD, the kind of guy who he thinks he’s justified in blowing up a whole school just because everyone there kind-of-really-fucking-sucks.
All of these people are assholes and some of them should be in jail, but that doesn’t make the psycho who’s killing them some kind of martyr, he’s still just as bad, maybe even worse, than all ofthe others. The musical makes JD look justifiable.
He was good person, he was just traumatized!
If only he had gotten help!
No. Just no. JD was psycho. He was trying to blow up a school. That’s not justified, doesn’t matter what sort of heroic reason he may have he had. Which, by the way, he didn’t. He wasn’t killing people because they were assholes, he was killing people because he was an asshole.
Anyway, thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. Yes, I still love all of thsoe characters despite how much shit I talked about all of them, sorry this got long, one thing lead to another, and now I have spent like two hours writing this and my arms hurt from holding an ipad. Bye.

Name: Mr. Egg, Mr. Pickle, and Mr. Hot Dog
Debut: BurgerTime
BurgerTime is one of those retro games and that's about it. It existed, and it's Retro!, and I feel like people don't really care about it aside from that. It never even got an awkward attempt at a scrimblo adventure reboot, like Frogger did! Poor BurgerTime.
Anyway, my first time playing BurgerTime was not by playing BurgerTime at all, but a SpongeBob Flash game clone of it. I have no personal connection to BurgerTime itself... but I know it has some enemies that are living foods! I always get a kick out of that! So I'm going to talk about some of the various design incarnations of them!
These original designs are exactly what you would expect from a 1982 arcade game. I feel like I've seen Pac-Man ghosts drawn EXACTLY like this. I like how Mr. Egg has the strangely realistic crispy bubbling detail around his edges. They're all fine.
...is what I felt before I noticed their elbows and knees! Ew! Bones! Wretched creatures!
Tumblr media
Ohoho... now what have we here? The in-game sprites are delightful! The simplicity makes them very cute! Their feet are interesting, being just little floating lines, except for Mr. Egg's, because his legs are made of amorphous albumen! Mr. Egg is really the breakout star here. Look at his yolk! That's his EYE! This is so awesome! That's such a rare design choice to see, especially since egg creatures that are not of the "creature hatching from them" variety are pretty rare themselves.
Mr. Pickle is no slouch either! I appreciate him being specifically a pickle slice, often portrayed as nicely crinkle-cut. I just have to question why he is a villain! Pickles are one of Burger's best friends! This is like if Cheese was a villain! I think if anything Mr. Pickle should be a cute little sidekick on the side of burgers, and in his place can be, I don't know, Mr. Olive? Of course, pickles are much funnier than olives!
Mr. Hot Dog is not as interesting as the other two, but a simple sausage with eyes and feet is still cute. He is like the leader of the bunch, the main antagonist of our hero, Peter Pepper, who I do not really care about. I like that it's him! Burgers and hot dogs are like counterparts, but in no way equals. Hot dogs are easier to hold and eat, but burgers are just Better. And hot dogs have finally decided to give burgers a piece of their mind!
Tumblr media
This flyer art is funny. I don't LIKE any of the designs showcased, but they're funny! Faces are moved around on the foods, noses are introduced to the series, and Mr. Egg is now a slice of a hard-boiled egg. You will also notice the elusive Mr. Lemon! Mr. Lemon is not real! I don't know why there is such an emphasis on lemon here. Finally, of course, you will notice the personified Cheese, as she noselessly beckons Peter to recline atop a beef patty. Ooh la la! Don't you wish you were invited to hang out with such a beautiful female cheese who is a girl woman?
Really, the designs of the core food fiends never diverged much from the classic cartoon-style versions they started out with, appearing like that in pretty much every sequel. Except...!
Tumblr media
In BurgerTime World Tour, which was not a good game at all, these guys have been utterly rebooted! Now known as Frank Furter, Ruthless Dill, and Sonny! Are these their real names? Or just some similar guys?
The designs are rather basic, as to be expected from Foods With Faces, but it IS interesting seeing them generally made so much more monstrous. Something ESPECIALLY interesting is that Sonny the egg is the only one with limbs, reminding me of how Mr. Egg is the only one to have actual legs in the original sprites!
Ready for the SCARIEST redesign from World Tour?
Tumblr media
This game's version of Peter Pepper is this horrible gentrifying millenial and I'm glad his game was prematurely delisted. I hope he got eaten by an egg and chewed by teeth made of yolk. I hate him!

Okay, spoilers for the first twenty minutes of the first episode of the live-action ATLA remake, because they added a brand new prologue that was VERY bad and I need to talk about how hilariously bad it was.
So, the show opens in the Fire Nation's Capital City at night, with an earthbender running away with an important-looking scroll and being chased by Fire Nation soldiers. There's an unimpressive chase sequence that ends with the earthbender managing to hand off the scroll to someone else, before being caught and dragged before Fire Lord Sozin.
First thoughts: why are they opening 100 years early? I liked the way the original cartoon opened in the actual world state that mattered to us, then the war and its history slowly unfolded as the main characters learned more about their own world. Sozin's wig and costume looks CHEAP, and they are throwing away all of the intimidating mystery of the Fire Lord (we don't see Ozai's face in the cartoon for like two seasons) by showing Sozin as just some guy. Also, it's kind of a waste of time to introduce Sozin here at all, especially in person, because while he had a MASSIVE impact on the world of the story, he's basically irrelevant to the main narrative happening 100 years later, because our actual villains are his descendants ACTIVELY CONTINUING his work.
The earthbender is beat-up but defiantly says that the Earth Kingdom has now been warned that Sozin intends to attack. Sozin is all smug, though, because apparently he WANTED these plans to be stolen. He wants everyone (he actually explicitly names the Water Tribes and the Air Nomads as well as the Earth Kingdom) to be looking towards the Earth Kingdom, so that he can attack the Air Nomads instead, because that's where the new Avatar is, who is the only person who could stop him. (The exposition is sooooo clunky and cheesy. It's baaaaad. Talk directly to the camera, why don't you?) Then Sozin burns this poor earthbender to death and then the scene skips over to Aang at the Southern Air Temple.
Second thoughts: oh, so we're not only going to waste time building up Sozin as a villain when we're going to very shortly skip ahead 100 years? We're also going to establish Sozin as a guy in a bad costume who is kind of shit at military strategy? He doesn't need a distraction! He doesn't need a feint! No one is expecting him to attack anyone, he shouldn't need to fake attacking someone else! In fact, he's letting all the other nations know that they should be paying close attention to his movements? What?!
At the Air Temple, we see Aang and Gyatso's relationship, and we see Gyatso called in to speak with a council of senior monks. The council has been alerted to the fact that Sozin intends to attack the Earth Kingdom, they intend to help, and they want to prepare Aang for war. And I didn't really have to think too hard about the logistics of Sozin's attack on the Air Nomads when it was something that happened 100 years ago! But now this stupid fucking show is making me actually have to think about how all of this worked, because it actually shows SOZIN'S ATTACK on this temple and this is why Aang is forced to leave! (And gets frozen in an iceberg for 100 years.)
Don't show me this nonsense if you don't want me to think about the logistics and strain my suspension of disbelief! If the Air Nomads intend to help the Earth Kingdom when the Fire Nation attacks, then because they're PACIFISTS who can FLY, they would be most helpful serving as scouts and messengers. But NO ONE is watching the movements of Sozin and his entire fucking army of firebenders when they have been EXPLICITLY forewarned that he intends to attack the Earth Kingdom??? They don't have anyone watching out for this explosive conflict that will directly impact their ability to travel at the very least?
It's one thing if the Fire Nation has simply become increasingly militaristic and industrial, because from an outsider's perspective, that could just be Sozin strengthening his internal power. (The Fire Nation could have had multiple lords and kingdoms, historically, before being forcibly united into a single nation.) Chin the Conqueror was also just one Avatar ago, so it's maybe not unreasonable for the Fire Nation to be wary of warmongers within the Earth Kingdom. The Fire Nation becoming increasingly hostile and aggressive is concerning, but people tend to hope that cooler heads will prevail and war won't happen. It's not the same as DIRECT CONFIRMATION that the (United?) Fire Nation intends to invade the Earth Kingdom and start a war?
Sozin, apparently: "The best way to pull off a surprise attack is intentionally put all of my enemies on their guard."
So, now the Air Nomads don't look great for failing to notice an army showing up like that. Especially if they're in contact with the Earth Kingdom about the war that they're anticipating? Like, sure, they didn't anticipate THEY would be attacked, but they have information now that Sozin has an army on the move and terrible ambitions? Maybe these senior monks aren't sharing the news around because they don't want to panic anyone yet? Maybe it took a long time for the Earth Kingdom's information to reach them? But it's not a great look that the show is immediately inspiring me to find flaws (in the plan of telling your enemies to look out for your attack beforehand) and to have to come up with excuses for these potential plot holes.
And I personally didn't enjoy seeing the Air Nomads engaged in combat with the Fire Nation as one of the first things we see from them! Of course they're going to defend themselves when attacked, but it's just so sad, especially when Aang is introduced in the original cartoon as a wondrous mystery to Sokka and Katara and the audience, fun-loving and bright and with incredible powers, a miraculous shock of sunshine colors against the blue of the South Pole, a person from a more peaceful time and a hopeful way of life, someone who has never seen war and never heard of this one. In the cartoon, we learn about the Air Nomads through getting to know Aang, this penguin-sledding kid who can't even conceive of war yet, before we see the remnants of his loss. We don't have to see airbenders fighting for their lives and dying horribly before we fully understand who they are as a people.
This remake heavily frontloads its exposition with new material that is painfully clumsy, largely irrelevant, and doesn't add anything good to a story that's already been done pretty well. Was this just an attempt to avoid being accused of directly copying and adding nothing? Because it was bad. What the fuck was wrong with opening in the main time period of our story with Sokka and Katara as our POV characters? We could have instead seen more of the Southern Water Tribe! We could have spent more time with Aang getting to know the Southern Water Tribe and bonding with Sokka and Katara! We could have had more conflict between Aang and Zuko (who is, unlike Sozin, alive and relevant to the actual story at hand)! But no, we cut good stuff from the original show and have to waste all of this time on Sozin instead, who is dead by the time that the real story starts, and also apparently thinks telling everyone he intends to attack the Earth Kingdom when no one knew he was going to attack anyone is good military strategy.

Comments on Netflix's Avatar The Last Airbender
*spoiler alert*
First of all I'm gonna start by saying it is one of the best adaptations I've seen so far. And that's the key word, adaptation. I've seen a lot of fans and others complain about some things that honestly, doesn't make sense because some things only work in a cartoon(just as much as some things only work in a book or a video game)
And before I start to talk about some topics that I judge important, I also wanna say that the production is fantastic, from the costumes to the CGI. It all looks amazing. (A part from Yue's wig)
1. The Script
It's not easy to pick 20+ episodes and make it fit in only 8 but damn they did a hell of a good job, especially when judging what was important to show and what they could let it go. Some fans commented that since there's no fillers, the Gaang and others miss some development but I think that for the universe of the live action what we got here it worked.
I can express how much I like to see Ozai and Azula's relationship and how it is now clear that he uses the siblings against each other, manipulating them to get what he wants. But I will admit I miss the fear Azula had, since it's implied in the show and some extras that she does fear Ozai, and fears becoming like Zuko.
I hope the 41. Is just fine after the battle in the north. See all of them bowing to Zuko after discovering that Zuko was the one that saved their asses and was heavily punished by that...it was beautiful. I loved the writers did that, give names and faces to Zuko's crew and a beautiful yet sad arc when Ozai banished his son and the men who he saved.
I also loved that they put weight into things that was treated as a joke, like Katara talking about her mother. She was a little kid who saw her mom get murdered in front of her and the live action made sure to let us know that it is not okay to make jokes about something so traumatic. All of the deaths here have tons of weight in it, it's not some random person, is someone we met, someone we liked, someone who helped. The costs of the war, something the cartoon manages to show us but know in live action, with real people, the massage gets stronger.
And they didn't forget Iroh's past like the fandom does, which is great. That actor, the earthbending soldier really let it all out, that's how you use the few screentime you have.
Sokka's isn't sexist and y'all were making a storm outta a cup of water, is not like Sokka sexist didn't go away after like the 4 or 5 episode in the original show. I think the live action was able to bring more depth to him in comparison to the first season of the cartoon. We see how he feels about his father's, the absence of him and his duty as warrior who kinda doesn't want to be a warrior.
I need a Gyatso in my life, I didn't know I needed to see more of him until the live action gave us more of him. Kyoshi was the Thor coming to Wakanda from this season, WHY THE FUCK BRYKE DONT WANNA GIVE US A KYOSHI SERIES? She is absolutely a jewel of a character. Roku and Kuruk, damn poor Kuruk man, so much pain in his words but again that's what it means to be the Avatar, it's not fun and games. Zhao saying to Aang what Korra villains said to Korra😭 that the world doesn't need the Avatar anymore, it hurt.
Guys I'm gonna say it, there's no way in hell for anyone to ship Kataang here. I'm saying this because some shippers complain that the secret tunnel part was different but c'mon, look at Kiawentiio and look at Gordon, it would be so s awkward and weird and just wrong. I know they don't have a big age difference, is only like 3 years but when they filmed Gordon looked so much younger than her, maybe in the next seasons the difference won't be that big.
The pace is good, once you start you don't wanna stop.
2. The Acting
Everyone is really good at capturing the essence of it's characters and somewhat making them their own. The highlights for me were Dallas and Ian, Its like they came straight from the show. Ken Leung's Zhao was also amazing as he was way more threatening here than he was in the show.
Kiawentiio was the Katara we were looking for, she is kind yet strong, brave and caring. And Gordon was Aang, sure, he has to learn a few things since he slipped a few times in his acting but nothing that could ruin the experience, that kid is good and just needs some experience.
Elizabeth Yu was Azula. It was different but yet the same character, is like learning something new of her and I like how cleared she show emotions with her eyes. Maria Zhang had great chemistry with Ian and I can't wait to see more of Suki. Arden Cho and Yvonne Chapman as June and Avatar Kyoshi look like they came out straight from the cartoon. Daniel Dae Kim...man is Ozai, so cold, so sharp, so scary, already way better than the cartoon version. I wanna see more of Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Iroh since the character he really starts to shine in book 2.
3. The live action doesn't have the spirit of the OG?
Yes, it does have. The thing is now that we are seeing real people, things get dark one way or another but I don't think it ruined the spirit of the show. Aang is still a kid, Sokka still making sarcastic jokes, Zuko still annoying as hell, Katara still hopeful and strong... There's everything there really.
The thing is stuff like genocide, murder, war, death and suffering are, for some people, better to watch as pixels in a cartoon than real people.
I think it's a great adaptation and I would recommend it to every fan.

As a kid watching Ninjago, I was just interested in the flashy powers, and the heroics of the main characters, like any kid would. Like, 'Aw these guys are so heroic and selfless and awesome'
But now as an adult, when I recommended my GF the show, I specifically said "This is Family Issues: The Lego Cartoon"
Honestly, Jay likes to complain and hide his upbringing, but he's probably the ONLY ninja with any resemblance of a normal happy childhood and backstory. He has two loving parents who supported him, and was an aspiring inventor.
You could argue Fritz Donegan rectified it, but Jay didn't know this, so how would this affect how is childhood turned out?
At worst, he was dirt poor, living in a junkyard and all, but compared to what the rest of his team went through, I think they'd WANT what Jay had.
Nah, instead most of Jay's trauma and emotional baggage is in the present.
And who else do we have?
We have a robot who didn't even know he was a robot, or had any idea of his identity or memory, so much so that he was just... wandering around the land with amnesia. (Then, you know, everyone thought he was weird)
We have Cole, who grew up in a harsh family background where his dad forced/pressured his kid to be a musician, and canonically suffered depression and bad violence habits after the loss of his mother/during her illness. (Idk about those other Royal Blacksmiths if they are in the family or not, but either way they didn't seem supportive)
Kai and Nya's parents up and vanished from their lives at ages five and three, and they had to raise each other all by themselves with just a blacksmith shop. Basically means they were forced to end their childhoods right there, especially Kai, because older sibling. And there's no indication they had any friends or anyone to help them in their town, at most there was that one lady that they hated, so... ouch.
And... Lloyd.
Just Lloyd.
Half of the show is just Lloyd suffering.
Born as the son of a man forced into an evil oni maniac, said father ditched his entire family.
Mom decided it was a good idea to abandon her kid in a boarding school about villainy. (That's like, the ONE thing I genuinely think the movie did better than the show.)
And that school heavily bullied Lloyd and even exiled him, forcing him on the streets, basically
Everyone hates him and doesn't help him (until Pythor)
Gets tricked by Pythor
Gets kidnapped by Serphantine
Nearly dies in lava
Is given a destiny as the savior of all of Ninjago where he's forced to be on opposite sides of his father, and part of said destiny involves him needing to kill him
AGAINST HIS WILL MIND YOU
Was LITERALLY forced to give up his childhood for this destiny
Was tortured by the Overlord for his golden power
Ice Ninja died
He got his father back, and then he died.
Was possessed by an evil ghost tyrant and was forced to do horrible stuff with no control over himself
Was also physically strained to his limit with that possession
Lost his uncle
Fell in love, and then said crush turns out to be a twist villain who wants to TORTURE him, resurrect his father and steal that fatherly love from him, and have said father try to KILL HIM
Which he was very close to succeeding at
Has to live in hiding for a week thinking all his friends are dead
Twist villain crush dies in a building collapse
That traumatizes him and haunts his trust and empathy towards people for A LONG TIME
Gets cubed in a video game (idk if that counts as trauma)
He's also a dragon oni hybrid, and his oni hide haunts his mind for his entire life, and is terrified to even think of a part of himself
Merge. For weeks he thought all his friends were dead. (Again)
And you know, physical beatdowns from being the Green Ninja, one of the most responsible jobs as the savior of all of Ninjago.
And that is not even everything, I'm sure there's a lot of stuff I didn't mention.
This poor, poor Emo Child.
If this wasn't a Lego show, this would have a Clone Wars tone, I'm convinced.
So yeah, 'Family Issues: The cartoon'.
At least they all have each other. They're a happy found family, and the light in each other's lives. They're here for each other. Their dynamics are precious to me.

In the Wukongverse, who are the bigger Disney fans??
(asking since I've been on a metal Disney kick)
Smokey would rock Poor Unfortunate Souls by Jonathan Young but would get so into it he needs his Macaque cuddles afterwards to right his head (self demon issues, he is a hero but he also tricked people in the past and is on his journey to change and be good)
While Cherry on the other hand would hands down have fun singing Peyton Parrish's version of I'll make a man out of you since he just started his journey and his pilgrim brothers could use the advice.
The LMK Wukongs love themselves some animation goodness! Mostly to chill after a rough day. Wrap up in a blanket, stick on a film he's seen a million times, Eat some peach chips; he's a happy monkey.
LMK Macaques get distracted by the animation!! Cus? "Peaches look! They're using layered paintings to simulate movement!!" Their faves are Fantasia ( Original and 2000) naturally cus of the high animation quality set to classical music. Dawn/Peach walk in one day and find their Dusk/Plum on the ground crying while watching the cut Dali "Destino" segment.
MK's fave is "Treasure Planet". Try not to ask why or he will change the subject and switch on "Princess and the Frog".
Dasheng doesn't really care, but he watches them anyway cus Liuer and the rest of the kids really like them. He's embarassed to admit that he can sing every line of "Beauty and the Beast" perfectly. Also good date night movies - Zhanshi's fave are the fairytale romances. <3
Smokey don't care about the cartoons, but he does get down to the villain songs. Blasting "Poor Unfortunate Souls" and "Hellfire" so hard that his LEM has to step in to calm him down. Liang is more interested in the technical side of the works, but he just beams with joy whenever the babies chirp/bark excitedly at that opening logo. Shared fave is "The Little Mermaid" naturally (though Sandy argues that it's not an accurate depiction of sea fish demons).
Ace and Joker pretend that they don't care, but you know these goobers take the kids and grandkids to Disneyland whenever they have the excuse. Lots of the classics (since they just got made in their universe) and shared infodumping. Ace will send the other SWK's classic Donald Ducks and Goofy cartoons in the group chat without context.
Cherry and Olive are equally super excited cus "Moving paintings!! Heck yeah!". Cherry's faves are the og animated "Mulan" and "Lilo and Stitch" without question. The latter caught him by surprise cus it made him remember who he's always felt like "a weird little alien" on earth, and Lilo and Nani remind him of Lin. ;_; Olive is just delighted to watch anything Cherry is super-hyped about, and they both hoot happily at the tv together.
Shihou and Mihou are kids and they love cartoons no question. Shihou likes the Milt Kahl-era ones like "Sword in the Stone" and "The Jungle Book" cus he vibes with the themes of growing up, but he finds the romantic ones boring. Mihou in contrast secretly adores the classic "princess" movies like "Sleeping Beauty" and "Cinderella" cus of the sweet stories and music. Shihou will watch Mihou's "boring" films with him without complaint cus he knows how much his opal love them.
Sugar likes the "roadtrip" movies the most; "Atlantis", "Treasure Planet" etc. He's still technically on his Journey, and he loves hearing/seeing tales of others. Spice is pretty shy to voice his opinions but... he likes "Pinocchio" the best - the concept of being created and having to adapt to the world mostly-made tickles his brain in a good way.
Starfruit don't care. Why should he? He knows the real guys! He sees Peter Pan on the regular in the Library! Lilac is the complete opposite, they hold streaming parties with associated Legends to watch their "adaptations" and critique them based on accuracy vs execution. Starfruit joins in, only because he, Goldie, and Peter get to read the movies to filth in the group chat XD
Two movies that hold a place in all their hearts are:
Hercules: Themes of obtaining godhood, heroism, an unclear purpose, goth gf, and weird horses.
Moana: Island life, wanting to explore farther, doing what you can for your people, the inherit tragedy of demi-gods, the whole Te Kā situation...

- I can also see him with a cat like chuuyas, u know the ones villains in movies usually have
- tje black pointy slender ones
- you'd walk into his lair or smth and it's all dark and it's just him in his chair facing you and caressing the cat on his lap
- me next me next ME NEXT ME NE
- it also acts like his own personal spy, by lurking around his enemies (dazai) and finding out all sorts of dirt on them (his love for chuuya) and bringing them to fyodor for him to exploit (putting a hand on his forehead and eyes going "the gays are at it again")
Nikolai:
- your friendly neighborhood animal abuser😝
- u know that cat from the start of princess and the frog???
- the one that lottie had when she was a kid???
- yea it's like that
- bro torments the SHIT out of that poor kitty (mine next please please)
- he would come home and just throw it into the air as a greeting
- his ceiling is covered in cat scratches from every time he's done it
- atp he would just randomly go "Hey where nikolai junior???" Like he's Phineas and Ferb looking for perry meanwhile his poor tortured cat is hiding from him somewhere
- he would bring that thing everywhere
- airport, barbers, hospital, restaurant, PRISON
- "sir you can't have pets in here" "awww why not :((((" "because this is a correctional facility"
- he'd be with the gang😎 and sigma jus goes "nikolai....what's in your shirt???" And he's like wdym?? And sigma goes "it's...meowing?? What have you got in there???" And nikolai has to answer very carefully bc of all the times fyodor has told him NOT TO BRING HIS GODDAMN CAT INTO THEIR MEETINGS so he just smiles sweatily and says "drugs" which for him is honestly way more believable but fyodor just sighs
Anyway that's all I got for now wish me luck at the hoptal guys :DDD

you ever watch an anime or cartoon from the 4kids era of dubbing, and just . . . . try to pick out all the weird censorship choices? Odd colours? "Jelly Donuts"? Signs that have been changed to either blank rectangles or poorly photoshopped pictograms made in MS Paint? Sailor Moon's "cousins"? The random pauses and flashes to cover people slapping each other? All the AGGRESSIVE POINTING people do, because heaven forbid we have guns in children's media - meanwhile there's souls being sent to the Shadow Realm, people being stuck in traumatic death traps, and the very fabric of reality being torn asunder. But at least we never saw a hand-gun in cartoon format! That’s what would have scarred the kiddies for life and turned them into degenerates, cartoon firearms.
My personal favourite is anytime they try to erase cleavage, and all they do is get rid of the boob line. Now, when I look at 4kids era anime, I think these poor women have some kind of defect, where their breasts grew in fused during puberty. Instead of regular boobs, they just have one monster boob with two nipples or something. That's why so many well-endowed women were villains in 4kids era - the bad guys paid better and they needed expensive surgery.

I'm thinking about just how different it must be to be wealthy and consume media. Like, what do they think when a movie or a book is against rich people? What do they think when a cartoon or a tv show talks about the plight of the poor? Do they think "oh well I'm not like that!" And how do they relate to poor characters? If they do it at all. It's just so bizarre to me.
I know a few wealthy people. Not UBER rich but like... fairly wealthy. Maybe just "upper middle class" but wealthier than most people could ever dream of being. Relative to me, they're rich.
And the thing about rich people is they almost always frame themselves as not rich enough. If there is something they want but cannot afford, they aren't REALLY rich.
If they have a 6 bedroom home but can't afford a yacht, well, they aren't really rich. If they have a 6 bedroom home AND a yacht but can't afford a SECOND 6 bedroom vacation home, well, they aren't really rich. Or if they have that vacation home but their neighbor's house has .5 more bathrooms... it's like they don't even have a vacation home at all. (Note: None of the people I know are this level of wealthy, just giving examples.)
They know what it's like to suffer from not having the money for the things you "need."
And if they have things they want but money can't buy, well then they're time-poor, love-poor, whatever-poor which means it's just like being money-poor, isn't it? Those poor nepo babies didn't have loving parents, just like the rest of us. Only, y'unno, they went unloved with nannies, five play rooms, and designer clothes while the rest of us went unloved AND worrying about rent at an age where you shouldn't even KNOW about rent.
So they can't possibly be like the evil, greedy rich people in the movies because they don't have everything they want. They can't be like the evil, greedy rich people because they donate to charity (and then complain about taxes being used to help people in ways they don't get to control). They can't be like the villains because they work essential jobs like CEO. They aren't superfluous, they are the backbone of society.
And you know what... this happens across all types of privilege when consuming media. White people listen to Mitski sing about her struggles as an Asian American woman and relate to the alienation, not really internalizing... they are often the source of said alienation. Straight people watch a gay character get bullied and relate to feeling hurt by words but don't internalize their microaggressive comments about their gay cousin is the same shit the bully is saying.
People don't want to internalize that they are the bad guy in someone else's life, even if they didn't intend to be. To the rich, if they aren't spending money directly on hiring goons to stab poor people at random, they aren't the villains.
And, if they were ever poor before (or even just less rich), everyone is just jealous they made it out of poverty and no one realizes that they can still relate to the poor and therefore can't be taking advantage o them or anything like that.

Throwing this ask over for if you ever want to ramble about Bendy ✨/nf (we are getting fed lately, 3 more games??? A movie??? Ink demon at a rave??? What???)
BENDY RAMBLE PERMISSION? OH HECK YEA!!
We are SO getting fed! I can't wait for what the games have in store for us. With The Cage supposed to release some time this year ANS THE MOVIE??? OH DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THAT!
I love the Bendy series to bits. Like actually
I've been keeping up with it since chapter 3 of BATIM- haven't read any of the books sadly but that can be excused right???
ANYWAY
The Cage is supposed to be a look behind the scenes at what happened on the other side of things while Audrey was busy explaining the concept of personal space to Wilson, if I remembee right? Also supposed to be darker and gorrier SUPER EXCITED FOR THAT
Then... in Secrets of the Machine we get teasers for B3ndy and Bendy Silent Town...
I hope B3ndy's gonna pick up on where BATDR left off, Gent taking away the Ink Machine to GOD KNOWS WHERE??? With Bendy now being out in the real world... it begs the question of who the role of big bad and smiling (traumatized, very much traumatized) will fall on... As for who we may play as.... maybe it could be this Riley Wells (hope I got the surname right) character we found out about in Secrets of the Machine? They ended up being a GENT employee so it's not completely out the question? They were employed at Joey Drew Studios before but- got fired because their ideas were too grotesque and dark for Joey's liking (EXCUSE THEM for having trauma you entrepreneur a-hole).
As for Bendy Silent Town... I feel like that game may be a look at mayhaps the genre of Bendy cartoons Riley had scripted? As I said, their ideas were dark. And what is Silent Town? A complete turn to the left at what Bendy games are. Unsure if the hand in the teaser image is Bendy's but- the char has a revolver named Alice FJFJ does that say anything? I dunno! Fjfjfj Getting to shoot cartoon bad guys in a cartoon tho? Aw heck yea! I suck at shooters but I'm willing to try my hand at one if it's Bendy
This is getting long lmfao
AH I haven't realized, but Secrets of the Machine came out on 4/14 (cuz- not american, use a different date format heh) which is the last loop that took place before Wilson or Audrey right? Some significance there
Oml I'm gonna fall into rambling about Bendy and the Ink Demon aren't I?
When you break all the cutouts in Secrets of the Machine, you get instakilled by the Ink Demon. Which. Deserved. I ended up doing that a lot cuz I didn't KNOW what I was supposed to do??? And destroying the cutouts was the quickest way out nfjfjc sorry Benders I promise it wasn't personal.
Anywho- yea it's been over a year YET I'M STILL NOT OVER HOW THE INK DEMON LITERALLY HAD BEEN TORTURED BY THE KEEPERS??? Like- YOU CAN'T JUST THROW THAT AT ME AND NOT EXPECT ME TO WEEP LIKE A BABY- My man's gone through literal hell even before he's been carelessly thrown into the machine "because he was imperfect" my ass, I bet the worst he ever did while in the Real world was walk around and be curious about everything while the only thing decisively threatening about him was his appearance... WHICH ALSO he had nothing to do with??? That's all on Joey and GENT for fucking up and only looking at the outside and not the inside. Is it obvious how much I need this guy to have a happy life?? He has a chance for that with Audrey now which I'm honestly so damn glad for nfnfnc Poor guy had been forced to follow a predetermined script where he was cast as the villain... tbf.. wouldn't anyone end up embracing that role when they've had to go through it for hundreds of loops?? I'd grow tired of trying to change anything as well.
Can... can you imagine? A little scene with Audrey and Bendy in B3ndy where they're just hanging out with eachother in Audrey's apartment.... PLEASE
Ah this got long hehe nfnfjfb
ALSO still not over Henry. My favorite father figure. Pls be a dad to them I beg
I STILL DUNNO WHAT THE RAVE IS ABT 😭😭 Haven't seen anything abt it YET- BUT AYYYYY
AND OML YEA THE MOVIE PLEASE GIB SOME BEFORE THE INK WORLD SNIPPETS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE?? Could you imagine? Just- getting to see how the studio was before it all went to hell??? I- GETTING TO SEE THE PROGRESS ON THE INK MACHINE??? MAYBE EVEN BENDY'S CREATION????? And and oml SAMMY before he went "My Lord, My Saviour, coocoo in the head" THE VAST WORLD OF POSSIBILITIES

Predictions for the new upcoming Helluva episode:
Ever since The Circus came out, these writers have had a habit of making long-ish episodes feel like you just watched a whole heap of nothing, but I expect this episode to be REALLY overwhelming and crazy since there’s clearly going to be a lot going on. This episode will probably be around 20-ish minutes unless it’s legit 30 minutes because I see that happening, especially since the crew made it clear that each episode gets longer and longer as the season moves on.
Similar to what I said in the last one, I just KNOW this episode will be insufferable regarding the pacing. Unlike the previous one where we were simply in one location, here we’re clearly going to be in multiple locations with more characters and plot lines, and let’s not forget…more fight scenes. I expect the animation to look very rushed and in your face in some areas, since this show is known for being very fast paced. It’s just going to be a mess, we all know it.
Either this episode will end with everything quickly being resolved and happy dandy, or it’ll drag out and end on another cliffhanger since the show is desperate for you to keep tuning in and have hype. (Cough, only for it to let you down later in the most underwhelming way COUGH) —It’ll either be one of those but I’m not sure which.
Stolitz pandering. Lots and LOTS of Stolitz pandering, with probably no mention of Ozzie’s too since nobody cares about actual character development and buildup, everyone just wants to see the ship in action, not the shit that actually should be setting it up. The pandering will of course revolve around sex jokes since nobody on this team can write believable nuanced gay couples, and like I said in the other post, Stolas will get hurt, uwu Blitzy has to save him since Moxxie and Millie are useless whenever they’re not the focus, and once Stolas ends up in the hospital, Blitz will worry over him and it’ll be dramatic yada yada. They’re probably going to pull another “SEE GUYS BLITZ LOVES HIM”- scene to pander the ship in. I’m also expecting the show to probably once again treat Stolas as someone who always “loved” Blitz and portray him as the uwu bumbling bird boi who’s in love despite it still not making any sense whatsoever.
Again, Moxxie and Millie will probably be useless in this episode. Like…yeah there’s going to be a fight scene between them and Striker, but Viv has proved to me that these fight scenes mainly go nowhere and I feel like it’ll be there to look cool and pad out the run time. Striker will probably just get away again anyway, unless Viv kills him off but I honestly doubt that’ll happen. I feel like I’m going to go out of this episode saying “Moxxie and Millie didn’t need to be in this episode”- because as of now they just seem to be there for the fight scene and nothing else. The focus is clearly going to be on Blitz, Stolas, and Striker anyway so do we really need them? Same for Loona, she looks like she’s here just for a fight scene and because the writers have no idea what to do with her outside of fighting or just appearing for a few minutes to either help the group out or do nothing.
I already said this but Andrealphus is definitely just going to be Stella 2.0 but a gay male version of her. Very flat, boring, and a waste of time. He’s just another pawn existing to merely torture poor Uwu Stolas and make him look like the innocent one because god forbid Stolas suffers from something other than a Saturday morning cartoon villain. Wish Stolas would suffer from the consequences of his actions rather than someone who doesn’t like him simply because they don’t like him but this show clearly has no interest in characters getting what’s coming to them and would rather baby them instead.
Highly doubt Octavia will be seen or even mentioned in this episode since no one gives a shit about her, unless Stolas will of course to show that he’s the good one who actually care’s because god knows Stella won’t mention her, and despite Andrealphus being Octavia’s uncle, I doubt he cares about her either, especially if you’ve seen the leaks where they’re both just getting pedicures and laughing about Stolas trying to call Octavia like fucking 80’s cartoon goons.
More non existent and empty world building or more things that are just left unexplained
Striker may or may not die, if he does I’m not patting Viv on the back for being “bold” because we now know she hates him and sees him as a toxic masculine bigot, and it seems like she’ll strip away what made him interesting in the first place anyway so his character was already ruined. If he survives we’ll know just so the show can bring him back again for the sake of suspense.
I already know that the fight scene or scenes in here with Striker are probably going to be like the fight scene in episode 5, where there are not only countless animation mistakes like the backgrounds changing constantly, but characters hesitating when they could easily just shoot immediately, cause…again…plot. And speaking of the plot, this might be another episode where the characters are dumbed down for the sake of it.
Knowing that Viv wrote this episode, I’m expecting it to be very horny. Perhaps not as horny as the previous episode, but still horny, especially since it’s a Stolitz centric episode.
And that’s it. I’m honestly dreading this episode cause Viv wrote it, and we all know how S1E7 turned out. I really wish we were getting the Fizz and Ozzie episode instead, but nah we can’t go two episodes without focusing on Stolas and/or Blitz. I’ll be here to review it once it drop’s because it is keeping me entertained, so I’ll see y’all then.

Sonic - English, Japanese version - my impression as somebody who doesn't speak any of the two languages.
First - my experience with the two languages, to explain how I perceived thing as a total foreigner.
English - I truly can't speak English. My written English sucks. I don't know if you can read/understand my posts. I can read English, both British and American (I usually use British English but I use American when I want to be more concise), overall I can read all kind of topics, but I don't like slangs. My listenings skills are bad, it depends who is speaking. I could listen and understand enough Sonic Prime without subtitles, but in other occasion the language is too different from Italian and I need the subs.
Japanese - Mostly I watch anime in Japanese. I don't speak the language at all and I can count all the japanese words I know in one hand. The sound of the language is sillabic so is as clear as Italian. As for Sonic, I watched Sonic X in Japanese version (Italian and English version long ago, I don't even remember a lot), the two adventure in English, Unleashed in both version, Frontiers in Italian and Japanese.
Sonic Force is boring, I was unable to pay attention. I saw it not long ago and I quickly forgot everything. The only good thing was Infinite's Italian voice, is very beautiful.
Tumblr media
OK, my impression of the character from English version was not like it was describled there. I perceived it more how is perceived in the Japanese version. Many times I said our personal experience make us perceive a character in a certain way, maybe the language I speak is part of it. Italian is more contextual than English, or maybe is how character act (that does't change whathever language they speak), I don't know... I remember perceiving Sonic as a aloof, slightly grumpy but kind hearted and happy character before watching the Japanese version (that just confirmed that). Current Sonic - even in Japanese, is more outgoing and sullen.
Tumblr media
Flanderization happened in the Japanese version too and is undeniable (I said i watched the Japanese versions too).
Tumblr media
Indeed...
Tumblr media
this remember a old cartoon I used to see in early '90s...
Tumblr media
"Cecil, help me!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Knuckles still does his duty, but I saw him more and more relaxed lately. Like: 'A bit of absence won't hurt!'. The describled flanderization sounds more like the one we saw in Sonic Boom.
Tumblr media
Yes, this.
Sonic X is Japanese and she is clearly different from videogames (Right, I've said I watched the Japanese version). In the two adventure Amy was energetic yet gentle. I remember her kind attitude toward Gamma and Shadow. in Sonic X she made me laugh, but yes, she looks also dangerous. Sonic is right to avoid her.
Tumblr media
Magical girl Amy. Well - Eggman deserve that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This poor guy had it the worst. I remember Shadow being overall gloomy but still playful. Is like they just took away all the facets that made Shadow likeable and left only the flaws (inflating them to 'fill' emty spaces) . The Shadow we had during last decade (except for Lance Shadow) is the perfect edgy character that only 15 years old kids like. At 15 I also lingered on edgelords and I though they were the best because they were 'oh, pure serious' and didn't lingered in 'foolish cheerfulness'. I even characterized some of my own characters as edgelords (I'm glad I'm out from it since late teen). My mum made me understand why they suck, calling them 'arm candy' (belle statuine). That was a great and helpful criticism.
Tumblr media
I loved funny and evil Eggman. I don't like what Eggman is lately, more than a villain, he seems a mignon.
Tumblr media
Though Japanese dialogue might be better and more meaningful (when different from English ones), this doesn't mean Japanese version of Sonic is free of issues. We need to accept that Sonic franchise is flawed, that the fandom is not perfect. The good thing is that all the material we have around can satisfy all palates. Let's enjoy what we like and hope for the better, whathever will be.

So, as someone who does not have any French or Canadian heritage, what exactly is Cartouche? I haven't heard of it before, but it seems like there's a show and books and stuff, is it fairly popular among french-speaking communities? You've made me curious lol
Ngl i went "nyehehehehehe" out loud when i found out i was being given an excuse to ramble about the thing :D
The short answer is it's a french cartoon from the early 2000s! One season-long, with 26 episodes! And yeah in 2010 they eventually made little books that are based on some eps, and they are very cute! They all have unique artwork because instead of using screenshots from the show they hired an artist to illustrate everything.
Most of the show is sort-of lost media, by which i mean that there are only 5 episodes still available in the original french audio… BUT an arabic dub exists, so I've been going through that with a translation app for funsies in my free time! So to answer your question, no, it's not a well-known show, but to me it's a nostalgic one asfdkg
More rambling about the thing under the cut!
What it's about:
Think Robin Hood in the early 1700s, but in Paris! Specifically, it takes place 2-3 years after Louis XIV's death : the future king is a tiny 7yo kid, and since he can't reign yet, the old king's nephew, Philippe II d'Orléans, is regent. In real life, the regency lasted 8 years, and Philippe d'Orléans is generally now considered by historians to have been An Okay Guy Who Did His Best, but every show needs a villain, so here he's the Prince John to Cartouche's Robin Hood! So the bulk of the show is Cartouche and his lil group of buddies helping out poor people and fighting for justice.
I was always fond of the show, but ngl part of the fun in recent months has been reading up on the time period; it's a unique but very short transition era between two very long reigns, and a lot of stuff actually happened during it! The show has a fun amount of references to real people and events here and there. Makes reading all those History books feel like the Pepe Silvia meme, really
Who are these characters:
Tumblr media
Our main character is this dude! Cartouche is your brave hero archetype, but also a bit of a smartass with a penchant for shenanigans. And he's named after a real-life criminal! The actual Cartouche was notably Not Nice, but a lot of people at the time did cheer him on because, well, he stole from and attacked rich people. There are actual books and movies about him that did generally keep the bandit-with-a-heart-of-gold legend alive! Cartoon!Cartouche is even designed after one of the movie versions, where he was played by actor Jean-Paul Belmondo. He's got the same outfit and everything, it's cute :D
Real!Cartouche had his own group of allies called the Cartouchiens, and some of the characters from the show are named after them! The main ones are…
Tumblr media
Louis du Châtelet, aka le Lorrain, he's a noble who decided to join the good guys! He's a fancy dude, and notably he used to be a massive jerk, but he got better!
Tumblr media
Fleur d'Épine and Galichon! Galichon was sentenced to the galleys and escaped! He's the team dad… and is also Fleur d'Épine's actual adoptive dad. Fleur d'Épine is the youngest of the group and has a whole backstory the show takes time to uncover: she was found by Galichon when she was just a baby! She gets a bunch of episodes about her mysterious family situation...
Tumblr media
Freluquet, who is, let's be real, the token kid they added for the show. But he's generally a fun little dude, and very importantly he often relays messages from...
Tumblr media
Isabelle d'Entraigues, Philippe d'Orléans's niece! She's not named after a real person, but after a character in the Belmondo Cartouche movie. She's a fave, she's got a temper! She's a spy from the good guys.
And then we have our main villains!
Tumblr media
Philippe d'Orléans, the Regent. He's cruel and power-hungry and not above trying to get rid of the young king. But of course, he's not going to get his hands dirty. (The real guy is super interesting! I've been reading up on him a lot!) He has two people doing work for him:
Tumblr media
Demachault, the police lieutenant, who is named after a real guy and is doing his best but honestly just sucks at this job, poor guy.
Tumblr media
Nero Falconi, who is the Regent's right-hand man. He's the competent one here, but unlike our other villains he's not a noble!! His sad backstory ties with le Lorrain's, but instead of acting angsty about it, he's just seething with rage at all times. I Just Think He's Neat <3 He's the one main character who isn't named after a real person or a movie character!
There are other characters, but these are the main ones! It's a cute show! The references and links to real events are fun to spot, the setting is neat :D
Also Falconi's sad backstory lives in my brain rent-free, despite the flashback being only 60 seconds long. I can't justify that one, it's not that deep, it's just been occupying space in my brain for almost 20 years for some reason

i agree about his cartoon villainy, but it’s implied that the part about him taking bribes was made up. when martina mentions it, he says, “huh…?” and seems genuinely confused. then, when yomi says that must be why he was so desperate to clean up the nail man killings, seth says, “i only did this because you ordered me to.” he still plays at being a cartoon villain. he’s just not that good at it.
I don't think so!
Alright, since I've finally been presented an opportunity to do so, let me pull out the Seth crypts;
Tumblr media
While Seth not knowing anything about anybody at any time wouldn't be a completely unfounded statement -- we never do get concrete proof that he was in fact taking money from the church after all, and Halara themself said that "If director Yomi said so, it would be considered the truth even if it isn't". Buuut, there's far more evidence pointing to the contrary, actually.
First, going from the very beginning, let's take a look at what happened PRIOR to Seth's intervention at Yakou's doorstep -- mainly, Jiei Colan. This section's the shortest, I believe.
I. Jiei Colan's terrible, terrible day (As Seth once said: I didn't become the head of the investigations team by being a good person. You can tell your son he won't be having a christmas this year)
Jiei Colan was called the day (or night?) before his arrest to the Clocktower -- he got an urgent request to fix it, as the clock allegedly wasn't keeping time. We don't know who sent the request. He stayed the night at the Clocktower.
As mentioned earlier, who sent the request is a mystery, but it is pretty odd in just how convenient it is for everyone, and by that I mean the Nail Man and the peacekeepers. I believe it was pretty much apparent to most people that this was an attempt at framing Jiei; coincidences generally don't tend to exist in most of Kodaka's universes.
There's two most likely suspects for the urgent call directed to Jiei, if we're going along with the theory it was a plot: the Nail Man, the Worshipper/Copycat Nail Man, or the peacekeepers.
(Kei (aka, the boy), if I'm remembering correctly, said that his father left last night. The body Yuma investigated is as far as we know, pretty recent. I felt like I should put it out there, but I forgor the reason. whoopsie silly me heheh!!!)
Worshipper knows a lot about how the NM operates; usually his plan to "catch" him involves him following a person with their name written in the woods. Could he have tried to use the peacekeepers to remove a random poor guy so that the true NM continues to operate? Not impossible, but, I don't know. That doesn't sound... very likely to me.
The NM, aka the Priest, could potentially have a good reason to frame somebody, BUT isn't his whole thing that he kills people who Kanai Ward's citizens feel have somehow wronged them, you know, enacting justice and shit and all that. He intends to help people in that way. I don't think he'd throw an innocent man under the bus -- I watched the scene where he's informed it was the watchmaker that was arrested, and I still can't tell whether he was legitimately shocked to that information but attempting to keep his cool, or just pretending (which implies he did hear of the plan; that doesn't mean he necessarily approved).
And lastly, peacekeepers, the most likely candidate; they arrived very quickly at the scene, and have a personal interest in closing the NM case as quickly as possible by any means, and is just... come on, it's the peacekeepers, it's always the damn peacekeepers I swear. What supports this more than the claim Worshipper or the NM himself sent the request, is the fact that the peacekeeper's report on Jiei said that his occupation was unknown (he was a watchmaker. this isn't some classified information.), very likely to frame him even more easily. Shinigami herself points it out just how suspicious that is. And it's, as far as I'm aware by my own rc playthrough, what the game was pointing us towards.
If it's the peacekeepers, then that means at least one of them knew a murder was going to happen at the Clocktower. That would require [some guy] to know of the NM's plans -- aka, [that guy] was somehow affiliated with the church. Which would have been pretty easy, if they were, say, regularly taking bribes from it.
now, moving on to the flower scene...
II. Seth's first and second trip to the submarine (YAKOU GET YOUR FUCKING GOONS ASSEMBLED HERE RIGHT THIS INSTANT)
Seth and his peacekeeper squad approached (that is very polite wording) Yakou by his sub and inquired him about his detective agency's involvement in the NM case. He sounds pretty nervous about them sticking their nose into the case (and potentially finding something out), and even sets a time limit for Yakou to get his goons in there by that time OR ELSE. The time limit could be there not only just to scare Yakou into cooperating, but also because he needs those detectives taken into custody ASAP, as, as mentioned earlier, every second they walk around deducing shit, they could stumble upon something he does not want them to know.
Seth comes back sometime before the time limit runs out, probably to sit there with his bouquet and watch as Yakou's pacing in circles next to him using up all of his big boy strength to not drop on the ground and start scream crying in despair. Meanie. Yuma shows up, and tells Seth he was the one investigating the NM killings. Immediately, like, RIGHT AWAY, Seth says this:
Seth: Oh? I see... So... you're the one who interfered with our work at the clocktower. Well... I will honor your courage for confessing and turn a blind eye to that incident. You must drop this case. If you do... we will leave without pursuing any further action. That'd be the ideal solution for all of us... What do you say?
Seth didn't waste a second to offer the NDA complete exemption from consequences if they stop right now and shut up about the case forever. That is... very odd behavior from a man who just three hours ago threatened to kill Yakou (and, I believe, the other detectives by extension) for interfering earlier. It's almost as if something about that was sending him into an internal panic. I wonder what.
I think the fact that he was so quick to just... let everybody go upon meeting the guy who was investigating the killings if they just could please stop right now i'm begging you is what almost completely eradicates the possibility of Seth not knowing anything about the identity of the NM. That is not normal peacekeeper behavior, actually. He wanted to shut Yuma up as fast as possible by any means possible because if he did not stay silent, he could have uncovered something very, very incovenient and likely downright very dangerous for Seth.
Yuma, of course, doesn't want old man Jiei to go to a happy farm far away, and tells Seth he won't stop now. Seth now very quickly orders his guys to take Yakou away, deal's off. Then Yuma pulls out the "actually I investigated all the previous killings too did you know all (debatable) the victims died of strangulation", and Seth is visibly shitting himself right now and orders Yuma to ALSO get arrested good lord bowlcut makoto knows too much. Whatever. Then Halara happens. Then SHINIGAMI happens. And just a moment later...
III. Wake up babe the Nail Man just dropped (DEAD)
Priest & hot topic Darkiplier keel over and fucking die. Shinigami pilots the Priest's corpse like a mecha to make him confess; the scene is as follows -
"Priest": Ahem, sorry about that. You see, I'm actually the Nail Man.
Seth: Wh-What?
"Priest": [continues to explain; not that important to my point. she ends with telling them to check the church for evidence, then Shinigami leaves]
Seth: The priest... mumbled something, but I couldn't quite hear him. Anyway... (...)
When the Priest confesses, Seth is the only person in the group to respond, with his nervous sweating sprite, much less, which wouldn't mean much alone -- it's perfectly possible he was just shocked, is all. But considering EVERYTHING ELSE so far pointing towards him working with the Nail Man... it's looking very bad for you, mr. Seth.
Then Seth claims he couldn't hear him; which, bullshit, you literally responded. He clearly didn't want the priest's role as the NM to be known, and was about to leave without doing anything about it. Just before he can take the detectives to the headquarters, guess who shows up to save our asses last minute?
IV. Martina's testimony who I believe above all (ignore that fake ginger cunt behind her)
It's Martina, look at her! she shows up riding a fucking motorbike through the air like the coolest motherfucker in Kanai Ward right before Halara. Along with her passenger princess bf Yomi I guess. Well, she's the one that actually says Seth had taken bribes from the church. The convo is as follows:
Martina: We have discovered you've been receiving sizeable kickbacks from facilitating donations meant for the church.
Seth: Huh...?
Martina: We now know why you were so desperate to clean up all the Nail Man killings. After all, it would be troublesome to lose access to all that money if the priest was arrested as the Nail Man
Seth: W-Wait, please. Director Yomi, I did this under your orders... [...] I-I only did this because you ordered me to...
I don't think Seth's confusion here meant he didn't know what the hell was going on right then; but rather, because his boss just turned on him after (allegedly) giving him the thumbs up to take that bag.
In conclusion! Seth indeed, took that bag, and I am ruling him guilty guilty GUILTY and SENTENCING HIM TO... actually, I have no idea. Uh, sorry, I guess he can stay on home arrest until I think of something...
I hope that was coherent :3 croissant emoji🥐

GOD am I sick of this. (Watch Out, MAJOR Rant Ahead)
Tumblr media
Why do Chloe haters (nearly) ALWAYS insist on using this tired old line to ‘win’ an argument?!
No-one (at least anyone I’M paying attention to) is saying Chloe should get away with her bullying because of her shitty parents.
We’re saying poor Chloe has been a victim of character assassination, sabotage, purposeful vandalism, ruination etc by the very person who created her! No... not her fictional dad or mom... but a certain real-life Frenchman by the name of Mr Thomas Astruc.
If you want a somewhat over-exaggerated parallel, it would be like Da Vinci painting a moustache on the Mona Lisa, Michaelangelo chopping David’s ‘bits’ off or Geppetto making Pinocchio into firewood (I say this because there’s been TWO movies about the lying puppet in the last year. Hint: don’t watch the Disney one).
It’s like... I can’t even debate these people, because they haven’t just got the wrong end of the stick, we’re not even in the same forest!
My point is to those somewhat disingenuous individuals, and let me be VERY blunt here, because I ain’t repeating myself... (clears throat):
Chloe’s Character Writing Has Been The Worst I’ve Ever Seen In A Professional Cartoon Show. The Fact They Utterly Destroyed One Of The Few People In Miraculous With Any Potential For Serious Development For Growth And Basically Replaced Her With Another Girl Who’s Just As Blandly ‘Perfect’ As Most Of The Other Females Demonstrates How Utterly Lacking In Ambition, Creativity And Talent The Makers Truly Are. (As If The Glaring Lack Of Other Positive Attributes To The Show Isn’t Evidence Enough) The Only Reason You Use A Completely Manufactured And Different Scenario Than The Case I Put Forward As Your Lone Defence Proves You KNOW I’m 100% Right. THAT’S Why So Many People Are Defending Her... Not Because They Think She Should Get Away With Her Progressively More Ridiculous Misdemeanors Inserted Into The Scripts To Convince The Audience To Hate Her More And More, But Because We Recognize The Less-Than-Subtle Route The Writers Have Taken In The Last Few Seasons To DESTROY Her Character, Her Role, Her Agency And Any Hidden Depths Or Layers She Might Have. This Is A Girl Who LOVED Her Daddy, (Occasionally) Valued Her Best Friend, Adored Adrikins, Confessed How Inadequate She Felt In Front Of Her Idol Ladybug, Made A Heartfelt Apology To Her Teacher In An Emotional Hug (It Made Me Cry :,/ ), Made REAL STRIDES With Her Behavior In terms Of Being More Independent Towards The End Of S2, Had An Intriguing Relationship With Her Favorite Stuffed Bear Which Acted As Her Conscience, Was Setting Herself Up To Be An Efficient Anti-Hero With Questionable Loyalties... And All This Fascinating Narrative Was Left To ROT In Favor Of Turning Her Into The Most Boringly Generic Baddie In The Entire History Of The Show. WELL DONE, EVERYONE. Then To Add Insult To Injury, They Claim This Was The Plan All Along And Her Rapid Deterioration Into A Teenage Psycho From A Standard School Bully Is Some Kind Of Bizarre Statement On ‘How Some People Can Never Change’ Rather Than The Obnoxiously Terrible Piece Of Hackneyed Writing It Actually Was. Damnation Arc? A Fancy Title For Utter Bullsh*t That’s An Insult To Miraculous Ladybug Fans’ Intelligence Everywhere, I Say. I Don’t Know About You Guys, But I Feel Cheated, Swindled, Bamboozled... You Name It, Or Just Thorughly P*ssed Off Should Suffice. Want Some Evidence For My Claims? Okay, Here Goes: Get Comfortable... Removing ALL Of Chloe’s Positive Traits And Redemptive Moments Overnight After S3. Pretending They Never Existed Or Happened In The First Place. Turning Her Into A Villainous One-Dimensional Sociopathic Object Of Ridicule. Giving Us Zoe Who’s Goodie-Two-Shoes Non-Personality Is No Substitute Whatsoever For The True Queen. Cynically Producing AN ENTIRE EPISODE in S5 For The Sake Of Retroactively Making CHLOE Solely Responsible For Adrinette Not Happening Sooner. (Thus Purposefully Exposing Her To More Vitriol From Obsessive Shippers) Pretending That She Had ‘Plenty Of Help’ To Change When The Truth Is No-One Seriously Attempted At All. (Even Saint Marinette ‘Encouraged’ Her And Good Ol’ Toxic Audrey To Bond By Being Awful To Each Other Instead Of Getting To The Heart Of Chloe’s REAL Issues), Breaking Up All Her Closest Relationships One By One Until The Only Person Left Is With Her Is Her Tyrannical Mother Who Promises To “Take Control’ Of Her Life Now In A Different Country That Her Father Has Disowned Her. (So I Guess Letting Chloe Get Further Traumatized By Her Main Abuser is Thomas’s Idea Of ‘Punishing’ Her... Great Message There For Children!) This Means Adrien Wants Nothing To Do With Her, Sabrina Has Been Unceremoniously Dumped And Even Butler Jean Has Been Fired With Little Fanfare. (Not That Chloe’s Had Any Interesting Interactions With Adrien Since S2... What Was The Point In Making Them Childhood Friends Again?! Her Dad Is Basically An Enabler Who Got Off Scot-Free Now He’s Resigned As Mayor And Looks To Have A Fresh Start With His ‘Perfect’ Adopted New Daughter, Sabrina Has Been MIA For YEARS And Only Gets Acknowledged This Once To Further Isolate And Damage Chloe And As For Butler Jean... Who?!) What It Boils Down To Is That Thomas Doesn’t Just Want To Strip Chloe Of The Bee Miraculous Permanently And Write Her Out Of The Show, Oh No! He Wanted To Transform Her Into The WORST Possible Version Of Herself To Try And Forcibly Extract Away The Last Few Fans She Has, And Then Give Her The WORST Possible Ending In The S5 Finale Despite Other Characters (E.g Gabriel) Doing FAR Worse And Yet Either Ending Up Getting ‘Redeemed’ Or Thought Of As Heroes(!). Oh, And Lila Has Multiple Moms Now(!), A Completely New Identity(!!) And Is The Main Antagonist From Now On(!!!)... I Think Her Superpower Is Dumbing Down Everyone Else So They’ll Believe Her Obvious Untruths. GREAT STORYTELLING, GUYS. Mr Astruc Is A Pathetic, Petty, Spiteful, Talentless Excuse For A Showrunner Who’s So Problematic To Discuss His Many And Numerous Controversies Would Take Another Post Probably Five Times As Big As This Already Overlong Wall Of Text, So We’ll Save That For Another Day. Good To See Though, That His ‘Brilliant” Scheme Appears To Be Failing And The More He Sticks Pins In Chloe’s Likeness The More Support She Gets Online And The More ‘Very Sweet’ Zoe Gets Hyped Up Into Something She’s Not, She’s Recognized As The Shallow Shill She Truly Is. I Just Hope Little Kids Aren’t Taken In By His Obvious Crusade To Make Chloe The Most Hated Teenager Since Joffrey. Why Couldn’t The Idea For Miraculous Have Fallen To A Guy Who Had Some Semblance Of Ability, Instead Of This Mediocre Hack Who’s Happy To Wallow In Stale Romantic Cliches, Underwhelming Superhero Fights, Uninteresting Lore, Non-Existent Continuity, Bbaadd Dialogue, Filler, Filler And More Filler, An Overabundance Of Characters = No Development For Them, ‘Special’ Episodes Abroad That Are Anything But, Prioritizing The Merchandise Above The Show ALWAYS, Allowing SO Many Spoilerific Leaks To Spread Under His Watch, Blocking Fans Left, Right And Center When They DARE To Question ANY Part Of His Writing (Because Apparently We’re Too Dumb To See The GENIUS)... And... rreesstt.
I am well aware that this post started out as one thing and ended up rather more convoluted than I hoped for, but Tumblr has always been a great source of therapy for me... so what better to get all my major bugbears out in one word soup of a paragraph that nobody will ever read if they know what’s good for them, before slouching back in my spinning chair with a glazed yet satisfied look on my face?
Nothing, that’s what.
