I’ve had an HOO AU idea in my mind for a while now, hear me out: HOO AU where, when Leo ‘dies’, the cure doesn’t work fully. Instead of dying, however, the Aztec god of death, Mictlantecuhtli, and his wife, Mictēcacihuātl, decide to ‘bring him back to life’.

Here’s the catch: Leo’s a kind-of immortal now, in a Hunter of Artemis way. Except, instead of being immortal and only dying in battle- like the Hunters- Leo’s fully immortal until natural causes such as sickness or age.

The reason they decide to bring him back to life is so he works for them in two tasks: killing Aztec mythology monsters such as tlahuelpuchi (half witch-half vampire that thirst for human blood) and atotolin (bird that killed people usually by drowning); and for the task of bringing their children to them, see, Aztec gods (in this AU) have children, yet seeing as Aztec culture and mythology isn’t very well known or admired, the gods are slowly fading away, and they need Leo to bring their children to them so that they can live properly again- without fear of their ‘death’.

I was thinking of adding Carter Kane to this AU too. The reason I divided this and the main explanation is because I’m not sure of it yet.

If I add Carter, it’d be as romantic interest. Carter would still love Zia, theyre way too cute for me to cut her off like that, but he’d also like Leo. Polyamorous Kane my beloveds.

The reason he’d meet Leo in the first place is because Mictēcacihuātl decides that Leo being on his own for so long and working so hard couldn’t be healthy for him, so she decides that Carter would help Leo.

Important detail I forgot to mention: only the Aztec gods themselves and Leo can see the monsters. The gods made it so that the monsters are hidden by a sort of ‘mist’ that makes them invisible to humans and humans invisible to them. So that when Leo fights them in broad daylight, no one sees Leo fighting a giant monster.

Carter’s just minding his business taking a break from monsters and gods, Leo happens to be nearby fighting a monster, Mictēcacihuātl sees Carter (and knows he works for the Egyptian gods) and thinks “He shall help Leo”, she grants him the ‘blessing’ of seeing the monsters, and Carter helps Leo for the end of the small battle.

Leo sees that Carter can see the monsters as well, and immediately starts questioning him, not knowing that Mictēcacihuātl aimed to help him. Mictēcacihuātl explains to Leo, Carter accepts to help, and that’d be when their whole thing starts.

Thinking about the bat family doing normal family shit and it’s just a painful reminder that they are still human people and humans are kinda silly.

They go ice skating and Jason, 6ft and 225 pound, the Red Hood, is comically bad at ice skating. One foot on the ice and he’s on his back with his feet in the air like a cartoon.

And he denies it the whole time but his legs shake and he clings to the wall with white knuckles while muttering curses like he’s trying to spell his feet to work.

And Dick is just great with all his balance and figure skating stupid fucking acrobat bastard-

Or they decide to go see a movie as a family. It’s a horror movie, and they assume everyone will be fine because they see enough horror in their daily life.

And normally they would be, but this is a slasher. So it’s all suspense and jumpscares and gore. And Tim, Tim who loves psychological thrillers and can see movie endings coming from miles away, is suddenly clinging to Dick’s arm as subtly as possible because every scare has him tensing and trying not to yelp.

Or they go out to a carnival, with rollercoasters and bad food and worse games to win dumb prizes. They’re walking around, splitting up to do various activities, and Dick and Damian comes up to Bruce and asks him to go home.

Why? Because Dick drank too much soda, he refuses to use the bathrooms. He has an irrational fear of outhouses. And Damian saw one of the mascots walking around, a man in some kind of shitty lion suit with a vest, and is convinced the lion suited man is going to get him. (Bruce does take them home, but Jason teases them the whole way.)

Just silly things that show how they are people beneath the masks.
