Thank you!!
2. ur fav genre?
Fantasy is definitely the genre I read the most of, but historical fiction might be my favourite. The fantasy books I read are so often inspired by real-life history and I think that's a big draw for me, as I read a lot of historical non-fiction as well.
5. enemies to lovers or friends to lovers
I think this really depends on the context. Enemies to lovers works really well for me in fantasy books, but I don't tend to enjoy it in books with more contemporary settings. I think enemies to lovers only really works for me in books where the conflict that makes the characters enemies is unique to the world of the story, whereas in books set in our world, I tend to find the conflict is either too small to make them 'enemies' or too big for them to overcome in order to become lovers. So to conclude, I think it depends on the genre of the book as to which trope I prefer.
8. the best protagonist u have ever seen in a book and why?
My number 1 favourite book character of all time is Inej Ghafa from Six of Crows, I just adore her. I'm so in love with Inej because I really admire how she is able to always remain so compassionate even in the worst of situations. Leigh Bardugo did such a good job writing her because everything about Inej just makes sense. Every skill she acquires, everything she says and does is all backed up by what we already know about her and we can see where the elements of Inej's character originate from in her life prior to the books, which I think is what makes her stand out to me as such a well-written character - I never feel like there's any loose ends with her.
17. a book to get u out of a reading slump?
The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang brought me out of a reading slump and I absolutely raced through it. I had been reading Fire & Blood before and, whilst it was a good book, it did take me a really long time to get through it - not only because of its length but because its format was very academic and didn't necessarily flow in the way I enjoy when reading fiction. The Poppy War does such a good job of sucking you into the world of the book immediately - the plot is so engaging and original, and Rin is a genuinely brilliant main character (she's my 2nd favourite of all time behind Inej)
25. a book that had u bawling ur eyes out?
Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell has got to be the most I've cried at a book in a longggg time. Her prose is so so beautiful and I think the final section of the book following the loss of the titular character portrayed the other characters' grief in such a stunning way that was really touching to read. The final chapter, when Shakespeare's Hamlet comes to fruition as a way of honouring his son, bridged the gap between Hamnet's parents' grief in such a beautiful way that I couldn't help but tear up when reading it.
30. give any 3 book recs to ur followers!
Here's a few books that I've really enjoyed recently:
Fantasticland by Mike Bockoven - Very much of the element of Lord of The Flies, this book follows a group of amusement park employees who find themselves stranded in the park following a huge hurricane, and the sharp decline into conflict that follows in the weeks leading up to their rescue. I really enjoyed the interview format of this book, because it allowed you to receive the story in fragments from different characters, building the bigger picture over time as you were able to figure things out from different perspectives.
The Young Visiters by Daisy Ashford - Only 9 years old when she wrote this book, Daisy Ashford's writing portrays the high society of Victorian England from a child's perspective, creating a really genuinely funny read. You can really tell that she aims to understand the adult world of her society, despite the rather limited information she had access to. Only about 60 pages long in total, I found myself laughing the whole way through.
Femina: A New History of the Middle Ages by Janina Ramirez - This is one of my favourite non-fiction books I've ever read, as it discusses previously overlooked women's history in medieval Europe in a really accessible way that I found really enjoyable. Ramirez corrects common misconceptions and the wider implications of archaeological finds on women's history and the history of the middle ages as a whole, discussing women's religion, art, and power during this period. Divided into several sections, this book hones in on individual figures whilst also helping to develop a more general picture of life in medieval Europe.

Dc x Dp Prompt #6
“I’m a twin”, Damian said one night. He could feel the narrowed eyes of his family drilling holes on his back in disbelief. Not that he could blame them. Damian had never so much as implied being raised with a companion, much less a sibling.
“I had a brother”. Damian paused to recollect himself. He had not said his brother’s name out loud in over 8 years.
“His name was… Danyal”. Damian hated the way his voice wavered, but he could not help it. Danyal was everything to him, his other half. Their heart beat as one and when one heart stopped beating, the other one died with it. At least until his family put his heart on metaphorical life support without ever realizing.
“Where is he now?” His father asked, voice filled with knowing grief and a hint of betrayal. It had in fact been 6 years since Damian first showed up on his doorstep.
“Up there”. All eyes shifted towards the specific star he was pointing to. “Right before he died, he promised me he’d guide me from the stars. Unfortunately, the stars are not visible in Gotham, so my brother is unable to be of much help unless I leave the city.”
“Your brother is Polaris, the North Star?” Tim questioned warily, most likely in attempts to not offend him. Damian was aware of how stupid it sounded, but Danyal had promised, and his brother never broke his promises.
“Yes. Danyal is with the stars now, just as he always wanted”

Dear Diary,
Yesterday, I pulled a Qiqi on standard banner in Genshin Impact. Annoying because I already have two of her constellations...
Anyways, my father was just as unreasonable yesterday as he is today. He finds so many ways to annoy me, it's honestly... admirable? Guess there's one thing I can look up to in him.
My existential crisis didn't bear it's head today. I still haven't done my summer work either, though. Sigh. I knew so.
Today I learned about "The Young Visiters or, Mr. Salteena's Plan." (Yes, that is how "visitors" is spelled in the title, and yes, that is where the comma is placed in that title.) This book was, according to it's preface "the unaided effort in fiction of an authoress of nine years."
The novel was published in 1919 by a young woman named Daisy Ashford, who wrote the original manuscript for it at the young age of exactly nine years old. It is a very adorable juvenile description of high society, or, rather, the idea of high society that the child conjured up in it's impressionable brain.
Google Books has "The Young Visiters" for free!! So, yay! You can read it online!
I hope any readers of this mundane diary enjoy my recommendation.
Sincerely,
Nana 🌷

ugh i could absolutely write essays about the fact that tim drake is probably the most depressing out of all the batkids. His birth parents hardly cared about him (he is book definition of neglected) and we see that he didn't have that many friends in school. And then he was pressured into becoming Robin and suddenly that's where he felt needed. While reading all the comics i really noticed how Tim is ignored by Bruce unless he is Robin. The only times we really see Bruce care about Tim is when he's injured. Hence, neglected.
Of course Tim isn't going to point this out because this is how he was treated his whole life. But he subconsciously knows that he is only needed while wearing the Robin suit so that's what he relies on. That's why I think he reacted so negatively to Dick replacing him with Damian as Robin. That's why I think he never switched to wearing the bat like everyone else did and instead changed to "Red Robin."
Tim Drake isn't his own person outside of being Robin, and nobody in the series is helping him change that.

Prompt 246
Far below Cadmus, far far deeper than their tunnels of concrete and steel reach lay something ancient. Something sleeping.
They were not the first to attempt to clone things of flesh and blood, but there is a reason that it was lost to time. A mistake so horrible it was struck from all of history, taken to graves and beyond in terror that even mentioning its name would awaken it.
So perhaps they should have been far more careful, less candid with their own creations, spilling blood that sank deep in foundations, dripping down, down, down until it pooled within the stone below. Pain, confusion, anger, it all mixed into the yawning void, awakening the Thing below.
It twitched and writhed, maws snapping at stone and eyes flashing towards things that both were and weren’t there. Limbs slithered and glitched into and out of time, body entering the realm of existence just as quickly as it disappeared with every gnashing step, if it could even be called as such.
And They turned Their gazes above, where freedom, where revenge, where reality and sky and everything in between would lie, and It began to ascend.

Civilian Gothamites realizing they can get vengeance through Sword!Robin
Gothamites figuring out if they happen to mention a rogue treating animals poorly within hearing range of sword!Robin that rogue will be in custody with at least four fractures and a concussion and Damian being completely aware that like 63% of these people are lying but it’s the only way he can get experience with the nonlethal takedowns he’s experimenting with bc everyone keeps complaining about how he treats his opponents and allies
Like he’s guiding a civilian to safety and they mention that “this would be the worst thing to happen to me today if riddler didn’t stab my fucking cat” and this civilian does not own a cat but they did own a car that was just paid off but riddler fucking crushed it with a stupid ass hot air balloon that’s shaped like a fucking question mark and Damian is aware of this bc he was the one that verified the insurance claim (but he’s been looking for a reason to punch Nygma in the throat since his last Arkham escape when he called Damian a moron)
And he also knows that if he plays along with it and says ‘as if I’d let that gaudy and tactless imbecile get away with committing such atrocities’ when prompted that he’ll get away with barely a slap on the wrist like he gets three half hearted but long lectures he’s not going to listen to and an online sensitivity training seminar he goads Tim into completing (Damian and Tim 100% try to trick each other into doing work they don’t want to do and full heartedly believe the other has no idea what they’re doing)
Bruce’s tendency for finding small crashouts at risk of becoming future rogues in Gotham and deciding they need love & supervision but what actually happens bc he’s so fucking awkward is they get almost the same amount of supervision just with like an hour of intense helicopter parenting a week but honestly besides that they just have more money and resources to do fuck shit
Tim 🤝🏾 Damian: using the manipulation tactics they learned from their mothers then later improved on with help from an assassin cult and bat/cape interrogation questioning techniques on the homies

idk it sounds reasonable to me for a teenager to run away bc they didn't want to eat their veggies!
one hopes that by the later stages of childhood a parent will have figured out which veggies and preparation styles work for the kid, and the kid will have resigned themself to what they do and don't have to eat according to their parents, and it's all settled into an equilibrium instead of a daily fight. and hopefully as a teen your palette is expanding and you're even willing to eat more veggies then you did as a child.
however, if the kid is extra picky and stubborn, and the parent is extra determined to make sure they eat a good variety (or just eat whatever the parent prepared no matter what it is), it could absolutely continue to be a regularly-repeated fight. and if something is a continued point of contention throughout childhood then it absolutely makes sense for a teen to go FUCK this, i am nearly an ADULT i am done being told to eat my veggies i am gonna prove my independence and make them realize i don't have to just sit there and let them boss me around!!
like, the childishness of the fight is exactly why a teen would run away about it.

Okay so the stepsiblings Tim and Cassie again! I want the rest of YJ to figure it out first and just not mention out of politeness, thinking that 'yeah, everyone already knows but you don't just say it out loud'. Like she brings (read: drags kicking and screaming) Tim to meet young justice. Everyone (actually I wanna say everyone but Kon because he's a moron) can immediately tell and they assume that Cassie knows and is just making fun of him for thinking she wouldn't recognize him so they play along.
Next time Kon and Cassie are making a fuss about Robin not telling them his secret ID they get the most incredulous looks in the world.
Kon: I just don't think we can trust him if he doesn't trust us
Cassie: I mean I love him but who knows what he's doing when he's not here
Everyone else:
