A/n: Trying my hardest <3 I'm admittedly having a tough time right now, this chapter felt very nice to write because it's all about the beginning of the packs happy ending <3
Previous part - Masterlist - First part
At least Yoongi is sort of talking to you again. Sort of getting over it minute by minute. It’s hard. Namjoon watches you from where he's sprawled on the couch, holding a near empty bottle of champagne by the neck while Jungkook and Jin wrestle on the floor, sort of making out, sort of scenting each other as they go. Jimin requests a song that Tae would like- and then Yoongi and Hoseok are leaning over Yoongi's phone to make her the perfect playlist. happy to have something new and mundane to bicker over.
Morning is just cresting over the rooftops and the music is just turned down when gets up from the couch, slowly, dizzy. You're perched on the counter in your pj's watching Jimin and Jungkook chase each other around the room. the need to scent and wrestle and get all your restless energy out near palpable.
Hoseok and Jungkook have a tiny paper drink umbrella tucked behind their ears, the same one that Jin stuck in your drinks so that you can keep track of whose drink is whose. He and Jungkook gang up on Jimin to stick one into his hair, the tiny little baby bun that tae tied in his hair.
You giggle as Jungkook gives up and just loops his arms around Jimin's neck, no technice to it and all body weight dragging the three of them to the floor. Sprawled next to the library room door, now open. Tae’s makeup collection spread out on the green carpet like the fallen petals of some red flowering tree.
It changes from wrestling to tickling. and then the three of them are getting up and surrounding Yoongi, a paper umbrella in their fingers, Ganging up on your mate who takes it all with a huff and a surprisingly whiney, “guys.“
You still when Namjoon walks over, the same way you'd still if a wild animal were approaching. He doesn't settle close, just stands next to you, and pours himself the last melted bit of the drink in the blender. Pink and yellow swirling delicately. He makes a noise in his throat and looks at you like he hasn’t barely said a word to anyone in the whole last 24 hours, hasn’t barely said a word to you since you got off the phone with him and Moonbyul left the house.
You sip at your drink, lips pursed around the straw and when you're done, Namjoon takes it from you and puts it on the counter. You think at first that he might be cutting you off but then he fingers the gauze there.
"I should probably check these." You nod obedient, wordless, unsure what to say.
Fingers prodding at the red skin, delicate but knitting itself together slowly. “How much do they hurt?” he asks.
“Probably a two,” you rate, almost without thinking, staring at his downturned eyes. The way his eyelashes still cling together from salt. Face glossy. You want to wash his face, pad across his cheeks gently the way that Jin does after you've been crying (something that you admittedly do a lot- the pack's resident crybaby).
"So should I consider that a four or-"
"No, this time I'm being honest," Namjoon stiffens, "It doesn't hurt when I touch stuff unless I'm not careful." Being honest about your hurts and pains has never been easy for you. But Namjoon has shown you time and time again that he's willing to take your hurts and fix them. You have no reason not to tell him the truth.
Namjoon grips your palm, turning it over his hands again and again, looking down at your love line lifeline all tangled there and leveling you with a look that is neither angry nor resigned.
“Do you notice?” He asks, you swallow. Eyes itchy.
“Notice what?” His finger presses to the center of your palm, the hollow there.
“Still dry.” He says.
You think of the mice, of drowning, you don't pull your hand from Namjoon's grasp, but you know he wouldn't let you anyway. You think about the mice, of dying, of trying to stay dry despite the things that try to swallow you whole. Water is not gentle, water is hungry. The rain pitters against the dark glass and melts the snow outside. But you and namjoon and the rest of the pack are dry and warm and safe in here.
Your breath hitches, but you close your fingers around his hand and nod. “Still dry.” You agree.
Namjoon closes his eyes and breaks the tension and this distance between you. Pulling himself between your thighs where you sit on the kitchen counter. Wrapping his arms around your shoulders to tug you to his chest, and breathing deep in the hollow of your throat.
He pulls back just as abruptly. Hands resting on the counter on either side of your thighs. All up in your space and sour-smelling. It takes great effort for you not to turn away and keep his piercing eye contact.
“Don’t do something like that again. Ever.” His jaw rolls and his scent spikes angry. But it's all temporary as you nose under his jaw to soothe him. Namjoon has every right to be angry with you for leaving, the same way Yoongi does.
“Never. Promise.” You hold out your pinky and you mean it.
Namjoon looks at you for a second, staring you down, waiting for you to look away. But then after a second, he loops his pinky through.

INT. BEDROOM - NIGHT
A boy lays in his bed with headphones on listening to the same song he has been for hours. His eyes are sunken in and he is visibly tired.
The camera pans to the boys face. He sighs, looks directly into the camera, and closes his eyes.
Cut to black.

California Blues Playlist
Yep, I've got the blues, folks; and this week, they happen to come from a place that you might not normally associate them with: California. See, a lot of blues scenes first popped up in the south and midwest in the early half of the 20th century, but as black southerners were packing their bags and leaving the Jim Crow south to find better opportunities, a lot of them would end up either heading straight for California or finding their way there, eventually. So, here's a little, off-the-beaten path playlist of some superb Cali-made gems, spanning from the mid-60s to the mid-90s.
Now, a rather large chunk of this thing happens to be taken up by a pair of guys who both shared the same prefix of "Little" in their stage name: Little Joe Blue and Little Johnny Taylor. And I don't know what either of their physical statures truly were, but nothing about their music would suggest to me that they were small 😅. Little Joe Blue was often derided as a copycat of B.B. King, but I think that criticism really misses the forest for the trees, because if you can sound like B.B. King, then that means that you are one hell of a talented blues musician yourself. So, on this playlist, Joe opens up with "Standing on the Threshold," a song with about 2,100 plays on YouTube, and then later follows up with "Gonna Walk On" and "Encourage Me Baby," which have about 4,000 and 6,600 plays, respectively.
And, by far, the two most popular tunes on this playlist are both by Little Johnny Taylor, whose "Everybody Knows About My Good Thing" ended up being more famously covered by both The Rolling Stones and Texas soul-blues legend Z.Z. Hill; but the "Part 2" version of the song that I'm supplying here only has about 1,400 plays in total. And Taylor's other big tune, "Open House at My House," which also has a play count that numbers well past 100K, was more famously covered by Z.Z. Hill too. I like Taylor's renditions of both songs better, though.
The most impressive performance of all, though, comes from its lone woman, Ledisi, who delivered an incredibly soulful and live, five-and-a-half-minute rendition of an old torch song called "Stormy Weather" at San Francisco's Cafe du Nord back around 1996. She's a pretty popular musician, with songs on YouTube that have racked up over millions of plays each, but this stunning tune of hers only has about 4,200.
And following her is another performance from that same Cafe du Nord, by a guy named Lee E. White, whose brand of blues-gospel flew way under the radar, as his quiet tune here, "You're Gonna Miss Me," only currently has four YouTube plays.
And not to be missed, either, are a couple tunes from the guy who was quite possibly the second most important force in west coast blues, behind T-Bone Walker: Lowell Fulson. On this playlist, he contributes "Sleeper" and "My Baby," both sweet and smooth late 60s-early 70s cuts, with ~24.5K and ~5.5K plays, respectively.
This playlist is ordered as chronologically as possible and links are provided below to songs that have been posted about previously in order to give them more context:
Little Joe Blue - "Standing on the Threshold" Lowell Fulson - "Sleeper" Lowell Fulson - "My Baby" Little Johnny Taylor - "Everybody Knows About My Good Thing" Little Joe Blue - "Gonna Walk On" Little Joe Blue - "Encourage Me Baby" Little Johnny Taylor - "Open House at My House, Part 1" Little Johnny Taylor - "When the Deal Goes Down" Ledisi feat. The Rob Rhodes Trio - "Stormy Weather" Lee E. White - "You're Going to Miss Me"
(Wow, everybody's name starts with the letter L!)
This playlist is also on YouTube Music.
So, I'll be adding more songs to this sometime in the future, but for now, we start with ten very good songs that end up totaling a little over half an hour.
Enjoy!
More to come, eventually. Stay tuned!

Episode 161 : Dark City
"Great Britain is a myth right now..."
- Strategy
Two different occasions combine for this month's episode; it's Halloween, and (0)161 is the Manchester area code, and so we lean towards the dark, sinister, and eerie, as well as including a good chunk of Manchester music in the mix. In several cases, we manage to find both aspects in the same track! The episode title fits the combination...as well as having some literal truth. The nights are closing in, and the temperature is falling...this is your seasonal soundtrack.

Playlist/Notes
Ice-T : Midnight
It's a long track, but deserved to be heard in full to get to that ending, which will be appreciated by anyone familiar with Ice-T's catalogue. He's one of the master storytellers in Hip-Hop, and this work of his pen lets you know that there are realistic settings that can be as perilous as any horror film. Taken from probably Ice's best album "O.G. Original Gangster", these four verses play out over a dark instrumental with a classing banging drum sample, courtesy of Shafiq Husayn and the legendary DJ Aladdin.
A-Trak : Don't Fool With The Dips (Instrumental)
Turntablist supreme A-Trak and Dipset weren't an obvious combination, but this 2006 single was a great combination - while the double-timed hi-hats are reminiscent of some of the Heatmakerz production that the Dips were often heard on, the chopping, angular harshness of the rest of the track is something else entirely. Take a close listen and you'll hear that it sounds like a lot of the sounds are scratched in on a turntable - they probably were! It's worth getting this single if you see it, just don't expect any complex socio-political lyrics :)
Regents (Cartridge and Strategy) : Greengate Adhesive
The 70/140 BPM might be popular now but it was definitely a UK creation from back in the days, and the kind of ideas that started off in jungle found their way to the originators of grime. That kind of aesthetic has always been part of the Manchester scene from its inception, and Cartridge's production on this cut from last year's "Shegry" EP would fit a damp, dark night in the city perfectly. Strategy, an absolute mainstay of the Manchester and Salford scene, burns down the mic on this one, dropping classic local references in amongst the rest of his bars, and the way the vocals are laid at times makes it sound like there's two of him piling over each other to get all those words out. Fire.
LEVELZ : Look Who It Is
Manchester again, as we take the opening track from the debut "LVL 11" mixtape from this powerhouse collective. Metrodome and Biome handle production, with the skittering hi-hat pattern dancing across the heavy low end that takes up most of the space in the instrumental, and heavy, distorted bass tones like that have always been very popular here.  This is quite a long tune so I did mix out with some verses still remaining, so pick up "LVL 11" online to hear every MC get busy!
Kosheen : Cruelty
The Bristol area has given us a number of excellent groups who fuse interesting, beat-heavy production techniques with quality vocals, and Kosheen are no exception. This is a selection from their 2013 "Resist" LP that has just the right feel for this episode, with a lumbering, thudding undergirding to the creepy keys and Sian Evans' vocals. Just the kind of record that can fit perfectly into a listening, rather than a dancefloor set.
PRGz : WoodGrain
I have had this record from "Fear and Loathing in HuntsVegas" on my hard drive for absolute years, and always thought a Halloween-time episode would be the best time to bring it out! DJ Benzi and Diplo pull the creepy sing-song melody from the soundtrack of a famous horror film, and the strings, while not quite so dark, certainly add to that feel. Add the 808-based drum track, and you have a certified southern banger! The title, for those that don't know, refers to the expensive (if not exactly safety-enhancing) wooden steering wheels favoured on "slab" cars, and all the MCs work with the theme comfortably. Notice the unusual post-production of the vocals, with lots of weird manipulation of the pitches of the voices and re-triggering of some of the words - on a track like this, it's definitely a fitting addition.
[Luke Vibert] Asylum : Gemini Twins (Instrumental)
Before I pulled this 1997 UK 12" off my shelves for digitisation, I probably hadn't heard it for over twenty years. The vocal version is an extremely dark tale, and you can tell by the sound of Luke Vibert's production that you'll never hear this in any kind of celebratory setting, but it does reflect a prominent strain of domestic underground Hip-Hop of the time.
Brian J ft. Suga Free : Level Up
I only came across this thanks to a Spotify recommendation, likely based on the amount of Suga Free I've listened to over the years! Brian J and Free hail from the same town, which also provides the seed of the title of the album this is taken from : "Pomona Virus". It's not super-complex lyrically or anything like that, with Brian J making sure there's no mistaking the message he's trying to get across. Suga Free's guest verse is an autobiographical one looking back on his early years, which hopefully are well in the rear view mirror as he approaches his announced retirement and enters marriage! Production is handled by Sparaza from Inland Empire, who provides a suitably contemplative, yet motivating instrumental - I know I've been playing this one in the gym a lot recently.
Children Of Zeus ft. HMD : 10 Toes
Manchester's own Children Of Zeus feature another locally-based vocalist, HMD, on this sparse track where you still seem to notice something new on the first few listens - it's a subtle piece of production from this skilled duo. If you somehow missed "The Winter Tape", where this first appeared, definitely go back and give it a listen, as there are some great tracks on there. You can also get this track on the excellent "Excess Baggage" EP, which is also a worthy addition to any collection.
Dubbul O & Pro P : Misty River
Previous podcast guest Dubbul O is one of the best MCs around, and he hails from this fine city! This pounding Pro P-produced (wow, alliteration!) track from the 2014 "Omega" LP has quite a dark vibe, as does the rest of the album, which is very cohesive in that respect. The beat is rugged boom-bap and Dubbul O just comes straight down the lane on the mic, which was exactly the right approach to take with it.
Black Josh : Killidoscope
One more Manchester track before the instrumental break. I was about to call Black Josh one of the new generation of Manchester MCs, until I remembered that even this track is nine years old! Along with the rest of the "Blick Flair's Ape Mountain" project, the lyrics and beats are a bit trippy, with Metrodome borrowing from a smooth 80s soul single and layering it with a rhythm that feels kind of (intentionally) jumpy and askew for something pretty unique.
Focus... : fIRE&iCE
Starts off pretty dark, brightens up a little over halfway through before coming back down towards the end - a great instrumental from Focus... (yes, the dots are part of his name) from the first in his "Analog In A Digital World" series.
Mobb Deep : Quiet Storm
"I put my lifetime in between the paper's lines". That killer opening is one of the most iconic lines of Prodigy's career, and instantly locks you into this classic single from "Murda Muzik", the fourth Mobb Deep album. Havoc masterfully shows how re-contextualising a sample can give you a totally different feel, taking the bassline from Melle Mel's "White Lines" and making it sound less like a club record and more the kind of thing that fits the album title. Prodigy describes in his book "My Infamous Life" how Noyd was originally writing a verse to this track, but when Havoc and Noyd went out to meet some women, Prodigy took control and over the course of three hours wrote and recorded a full set of solo verses to it. It was a great move - as excellent as Noyd and Havoc are as MCs, this song gives you some of Prodigy's best work.
Mobb Deep ft. Lil Kim : Quiet Storm (Remix)
The third verse of the original track is dope, but I thought I'd switch it up and blend into the second verse of the remix, a classic performance by the great Lil Kim. There have been pretenders to her position, but her skills and history are undeniable.
Bugzy Malone : Skeletons
When you talk about someone who's had their ups and downs, as well as someone who's been on the grind for many, many years, Manchester's Bugzy Malone fits the bill. His material is definitely in the grime lane, and darkness is a persistent feature - even when the tracks aren't titled as blatantly as this one. He's a man not shy to put his real life into his lyrics, which I think is one of the things that really draws people to him, and here, despite the occasional bar of flash, it's a journey into the darkness of the streets of Manchester and where they too often lead. Blinkie, who has plenty of happier-sounding music in his repertoire, absolutely slays the production here, going half-time with the pace, and going with an ominous, subdued drum track and dramatic keys. This 2021 cut from "The Resurrection" could easily fit in on a thriller or horror soundtrack.
Gang Starr : Code Of The Streets
While DJ Premier produced the overwhelming majority of Gang Starr material solo, the late great Guru was at least partly responsible for this killer from "Hard To Earn". The main sample gives a really dismal feel, and provides a perfect setting for the first couple of verses, telling the story of youth without hope. The cuts between the verses are, fittingly, remembered just as much as any other part of the track, with Preemo showing that you don't have to do anything super-technical to produce something with flavour - common techniques done flawlessly and with feeling will do just fine.
GZA ft. Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, and U-God : Investigative Reports
A deep album cut that was always one of my favourites on GZA's second LP (though first in the Wu era) "Liquid Swords", the sound of the woman describing the historic location of a battle in the American Revolutionary War almost brings the ghosts of the fallen combatants out over the gloomy track. RZA is, of course, the producer, and GZA settles in for the middle of the track between U-God on the hooks, and the dynamic duo of Rae and Ghost, who take the opening and closing verses. Quality street bars, with Ghost's wild, slang-laden style, that would get a full-length outing on "Ironman" a year later, already well-formed here. On a production/engineering note - notice how during the hooks, RZA pans the kick drums over to one side, and U-God's voice to the other.
Pro P : Intoxicated
Pro P on the beat again, and this one has all the bass. My goodness, this one will test your system's low end! It's on the 2015 "Street Life Beat Tape", which was a welcome release from the Manchester beatsmith.
Waajeed ft. Monica Blaire : Knives Out
We close with a creepy track I've been meaning to play you for the longest. "Exit Music (Songs With Radio Heads)" was a 2006 tribute album to Radiohead featuring a whole bunch of covers, and this track featured both there and on "Exit Music EP 2". I can't say I've ever been a Radiohead listener, so I went to check the original version of this song (from 2001's "Amnesiac"), and while it was a decent listen, I have to say...my vote goes to Waajeed and Monica Blaire! Maybe it's the bias of having heard the cover first, but the throbbing bass on the hook here makes it sound really claustrophobic, which builds on the unpleasantness of the lyrics - well conveyed by Blaire. Waajeed is a skilled practitioner of timing/swing control within a beat, in that great Detroit tradition, and that drum track is overlaid with keys upon keys to produce the fleshed-out final product.
Please remember to support the artists you like! The purpose of putting the podcast out and providing the full tracklist is to try and give some light, so do use the songs on each episode as a starting point to search out more material. If you have Spotify in your country it's a great way to explore, but otherwise there's always Youtube and the like. Seeing your favourite artists live is the best way to put money in their pockets, and buy the vinyl/CDs/downloads of the stuff you like the most!
Check out this episode!

28. SIAMÉS - Mr. Fear
"Hello, my name is Mr. Fear / I wish I had a faster therapy / I've come to mind control your needs / Tonight I'm gonna star all of your leads"
"You know, I'll never disappear / Now get me out of here / Don't trust in me, my dear / No cure is coming"
"'Cause you make me feel like I'm so alone / I know it's not real, but it's in my soul / And I just can't try to face the dark inside my head"
29. Jai Paul - BTSTU
"I know I've been gone a long time, but / I'm back and I want what is mine"
30. Absofacto - Dissolve
"Your voice like an angel / Chainsmoking all month long / Like you're someone I believe in"
"You held me, but I'm volatile / And never got my head screwed on / Now I'm melting through the floor"
"Am I only a lab rat / Someone you can test things on / Are you training for a new love?"
"All in white, like you're an angel / With the sun glimmering off your glass mask / This isn't what I signed up for"

Mr. Barnes
Neighbor!Bucky & Reader
WC:1,247

Rated M Warnings: Mentions of nudity, 18+, minors DNI, not explicit, nudity but not actual smut
A/N: 😀 Finally posting this little thing I wrote on Thanksgiving while waiting for the food to be ready 🥰 Hope everyone had a happy holiday and a happy thursday/ weekend for those who don't celebrate.
Tumblr media
Apartment 24 A Mr. Barnes
Apartment 24 B Ms. Y/L/N
You’ve never seen your neighbor but going by his taste of music you picture him as a chubby 70 year old grandpa. He listens to a lot of Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday; a lot of 40s-50s jazzy classics. You’ve come to love his taste in music. He plays it in the mornings and on rainy days he sings along. Oftentimes you find yourself humming too around your apartment, but when you really shine is when you sing in the shower.
The songs have worked their way into a playlist you decided to name Overheard on your Spotify account. And now you sing them in the shower too, thanks to the new speaker you bought specifically for this. You swear you hear the man through the wall in the bathroom singing along with you.
Stars fading but I linger on dear
(Oh how you linger on)
Still craving your kiss
(How you crave my kiss)
Now I am longing to linger till dawn dear
Just sitting there
(Give me a little kiss)
When the song ends you hear faint clapping from the other side of the wall. You smile to yourself, the man has a nice voice. After getting dressed you decide to go over and introduce yourself. You might as well, you already sing with the man. You bring a tin full of cookies and knock on his door.
A handsome— no words do him justice, beautiful— young man opens the door. He’s gotta be around mid 30s, steel blue eyes, mid length chocolate brown hair and a clean shaven jaw that could cut glass. He might just be the most beautiful man you’ve ever seen.
“Hello.” His deep voice, oddly familiar, greets you with a big smile that makes you want to melt.
“Ohh…where’s your grandpa?” You asked confused.
“Grandpa?” Now is the handsome young man's turn to look confused.
“24 A? Mr. Barnes?”
“Oh, that’s me." He chuckles. "I’m Mr. Barnes. James Buchanan Barnes—Bucky.” He extends a hand for you to shake. You're distracted, between the confusion and the discovery that your neighbor is not a grandpa but in fact a drop dead gorgeous young man. You look down to your joined hands, because yes— you're still shaking his hand, you notice how tiny your hand looks in his.
You feel your body get hot with embarrassment. “All this time I’ve been picturing a short chubby cute grandpa, not a hunky beefcake.” You did not mean to say that out loud but you can’t take it back.
“Oh, well, you’re even more beautiful than I imagined. You have a lovely voice by the way.”
“Thank you.”
Damn those thin walls.
———————————
You get to know your hot neighbor, sometimes you invite him over for dinner, claiming to have miscalculated the amount of pasta you’d made, just an excuse to spend more time getting to know him past his taste in music. Other times it's him knocking on your door asking for a cup of sugar, it's why he's come to call you Sugar.
One morning he comes over with two cups of coffee. "Morning, Sugar." He smiles and offers you a mug. "If I keep asking you for sugar I might as well bring you coffee."
You smile and let him in your apartment. "Thanks, Bucky.'' You offer to make breakfast, Bucky moves around your apartment with such ease and comfort as if he lived there. He links up his phone to your bathroom speaker and plays some of his favorite songs while you finish making breakfast and he gets the plates ready.
Cheek to Cheek plays in the background.
After you're both done eating he asks you to dance. You can hardly find your voice to speak so you nod your head. He wraps an arm around your waist and with the other he holds your hand close to his chest. You dance just like the song says, cheek to cheek. You feel like floating on a cloud, his low voice in your ear though, it grounds you.
"Sugar, would you like to go out to dinner with me tonight?"
Your heart thunders in your chest, there's only one answer. "Yes."
———————————
Date night:
You’re getting ready for your date with Bucky. You’re in the shower washing your hair and shaving your legs while listening to Marvin Gaye’s Let’s get it on.
You’re wrapping yourself in your fluffy robe when you hear a knock on your front door. You wrap a towel on your hair and go answer the door.
‘Let’s get it on, let’s love, baby’ you hum under your breath as you walk over to the door. As soon as you open the door Bucky’s hands come up to cup your jaw crashing his lips on yours.
He devours you, first he nips at your lips then sucks on them, his tongue darts out and seeks entrance which of course you grant. You can’t help the way your body reacts to him, you moan loudly when he sucks on your tongue.
A first kiss usually happens after the date but you’re not complaining.
“I just needed a taste, Sugar. I’ll be back in twenty minutes so you can finish getting ready.” He pulls back with a wink and is about to head back to his apartment to finish getting ready for your date when you grab fistfuls of his shirt.
“Nuh-uh, Mister.” You wind your arms around his neck and pull him back down to devour him like he did to you. Your hands wander down his chest quickly undoing the buttons and getting rid of his dress shirt.
VERSACE ON THE FLOOR plays in the background from the bathroom speaker.
Kissing turns wild, both latching on each other’s necks. Your robe comes off and you realize you’re on your bed.
There’s no way you’re making it to dinner.
Hands are everywhere, face, arms and backs until Bucky unwraps your hair from the towel. His blue eyes sparkle in the dim lighting, him taking in the sight of you naked under him. He smiles widely, eyes and nose scrunching, his cheeks flushed and him out of breath.
What a sight to behold.
Shirtless, flushed, muscles shining with a bit of sweat, lips looking puffed up James Bucky Barnes on top of you. There’s nowhere else in the world you’d rather be than right here with this man.
He leans down to kiss your lips, then trails off to your neck. “You’re not allowed to ever sing that song again unless you’re ready for me to come over…and get it on.”
Bucky is terribly cheesy but you love him all the more for it.
You’re laying in bed, more than satisfied, in Bucky’s warm embrace. My Kind of Girl plays in the background and Bucky hums along. “That’s a nice playlist you got there, Sugar.” He presses his lips to your forehead.
You nuzzle his chest and tighten your arms around him. “Yeah, I heard you singing that one the other night when you were in the shower.”
A pretty little face
That face just knocks me off my feet
A pretty little feet
She’s sweet enough to eat
To my mind, she’s my kind of girl
He tilts your head up and kisses your lips.
“I’m so glad I was wrong about Mr. Barnes being a sweet little grandpa.” You mumble against his lips.

Face: picrew link
Tumblr media
Eyes: Her eyes are pretty much pitch black, with long eyelashes and prominent under eye bags.
Hair: Her hair is done in the typical finger wave style of the time, although it’s a lot less tight of curls due to her hair being blown by the wind when she rides her motorcycle. It’s a little past chin length and a deep red color.
Makeup: Lila’s lips are always a red, she’s never seen without lipstick, and she normally (in the day at least) wears a peach or cream eyeshadow, keeping it very light and close to her natural skin tone. For evening looks, she keeps the lipstick and wears a thick coat of eyeliner all over her eyelid.
Scars: Has a small one to the left of her eyebrow that she normally uses her hair to cover up a bit better, and a fair bit of scars on her hands, although they’re normally covered by gloves.
Tattoos: None
Piercings: A single earlobe piercing on each ear that she did herself after graduating from high school, but she does normally still wear clip on (or screw on) earrings.
Casual attire: Lila wears a black blouse that’s semi sheer and has frills around the neck and wrists, as well as down the center, her peach slip visible underneath it. That’s tucked into a pencil skirt that goes down to her midcalf and is a deep red color with small flowers, matching both her shoes and the accent on her jacket. Her jacket is a cream leather fringe jacket with three buttons down the front, and has red accents on the shoulders and the ends of the long sleeves.
She wears a pair of nude colored stockings underneath her skirt, and her shoes are red and floral printed 1 inch heels with a small bow on the toes. She wears white leather gloves with a crochet lace cuff that covers her wrist and a cream colored fedora with a red ribbon around it and a red feather tucked into the band. As for how she stores any belongings, she has a golden colored fish shaped purse that opens between the head and the body of the fish. (images of the outfit here!)
Formal attire: Lila’s normal formal dress is a bright navy blue, velvet, puff sleeve gown with a v neck neckline. The dress flares out past the mid thigh and hits the floor. Her neckline is held together with a golden colored brooch in the shape of a butterfly with red accents, and she wears golden chandelier earrings to match, along with a small bracelet. Her shoes have a thick heel and are black.
Sleepwear: Her floor length baby blue nightgown is made of silk and has a sweetheart neckline with thin lace straps holding it up. She wears slippers along with it.
Swimwear: Lila wears a navy blue wool skirted swimsuit with cutouts on each side and a set of thin straps holding it up. As for accessories, she normally wears a floppy sun hat and red, cream, and blue striped Espadrilles, carrying a book or two in a beach bag.
Accessories: Most of the time, Lila has a leather double tooled holster belt, one side for a Smith and Wesson .357 revolver and the other for a lighter made to look like a dueling pistol. She can and has confused them before but normally keeps them in a designated side. Pretty much all of the time excluding sleepwear, she’s wearing earrings that match her outfit in some way.
Personality: Lila is a very cheerful and upbeat person, pretty much always smiling or laughing, and can be very easily described as the life of a party. She’s always trying to look on the bright side of life, and likes to work hard in order to make the people around her happy. Lila is a hopeless romantic and pretty much always has her heads in the clouds thinking about it.
She’s relatively blunt most of the time, to the point where she’s not the most polite if someone has wronged her and she’s pushed past the point of conflict avoidance. Most conflict, she does try and avoid in order to make everyone around her happy, but if she’s pushed too far, she’ll let her short temper take over. Once someone knows her well, she’s relatively easy to manipulate if they know where her weaknesses are, and it’s something she hates about herself.
Lila hates being tethered to places and would happily live from place to place, traveling on her motorcycle to wherever the road carries her. She’s not great at planning far ahead in the future and would prefer to not really do so, as living day to day is what’s easiest for her. She’s relatively observant and high energy, and loves spending time with other extroverts.
Likes: Lila’s favorite flowers are bluebells and wood anemones. She loves exploring new areas, especially on her Triumph XO 1933 (and with Suzi Q!) and just getting lost. Lila is a yoyo professional and has been doing it since she was really young. She loves doing tricks with them and showing her friends. She also loves radio shows, even if she can’t understand a lot of the words, it’s good entertainment and helps her learn a bit more Italian in her free time.
Lila adores when its sunny out and she has the day off work so she can spend time with friends, whether it’s playing tennis on teams of two or having a nice picnic! Lila also loves going for walks in the evening with friends and looking at all the stars in the sky! In terms of food, Lila loves coffee and makes her own drip coffee every morning, and loves black olives. She also really enjoys tomato soup (with grilled cheese of course) and apple pie, although that’s more of a rare treat.
Lila enjoys reading too, although she did only pack a few books from home that she’s read cover to cover by now, and the genres she enjoys include poetry and nonfiction! She does write her own poetry and keep a journal, although both are a pretty private part of her life and she doesn’t share them with anyone. Lila has a small collection of old belt buckles and normally switches out her main one with a larger one when the occasion calls for it.
Dislikes: Despite it being a very popular food, Lila absolutely despises Jello and the texture of it. She hates when its foggy or rainy, as the worry of getting ran over gets a lot worse with those types of weather. She really dislikes when people avoid her or ignore her, as she thrives off attention and making other people smile. Lila cannot stand being restricted, whether physically or being disallowed to do what she wants to (whether it’s something she should actually be doing or not doesn’t matter). She cannot stand being stuck in the same environment day to day and does the best doing things different each day even if the changes are minor.
If things aren’t exciting for her and she doesn’t have enough stimulation, it really frustrates her. Lila tries to avoid thinking about her past or in general things that upset her, so if someone brings that up, it really upsets her and she’s prone to get angry. She can’t stand people that are overly polite or try to have a fake personality around others. On a lighter note, Lila dislikes comics, because she simply doesn’t think its a good cost value with the pages being mostly images instead of words.
Phobias: Machinery (esp loud and big machinery ie in factories) and being bound or tied up
Habits: Lila tends to bottle her negative emotions, namely because of how she’s worried about upsetting people around her. She also smokes about five packs of Craven A’s a day and tends to fidget with her screwback earrings.
Favorite color: Goldenrod or a golden-yellow
Favorite movie: Stagecoach
Backstory: Lila’s parents got married relatively young (her mom being 22 and her dad being 25) and had a child about a year later. Lila and her twin were born five years later in 1916, and the four of them had a relatively normal life. Lila didn’t necessarily get up to trouble but didn’t really work very hard at school until her youngest brother was born and her mom died in childbirth. It pretty much destroyed their entire family, her eldest brother and father worst of all. Lila didn’t necessarily remember her mom a lot, due to being only 3 when her mom died, but it was still very hard as her dad was home a lot less and her brothers were handling it about as bad as she was.
Due to her dad occupying his time with work, he ended up getting a bit sloppy at work and got in a horrific accident at the factory, causing the four of them to become orphans in the span of a year. With their dad dying about a year after their mom, the family was thrown into worse turmoil. Walter took the responsibility on himself at the age of 10 to begin working at any factory that would hire him as Lila and Leo poured work into getting through schooling, and helping raise Bernard as a family unit.
The minute Lila graduated from high school, she began saving up by working to move out, and moved out a year or two later. This somehow fractured the relationships a lot worse with her brothers for varied reasons, and they cut her off for a few years until Leo decided that surely Italy would be better than living here. It definitely was not, and a year into living there, Leo was practically out of money and manipulated Lila into moving with him to help with finances. She moved to Italy when she was 23, and got work as a factory worker in order to try and help him pay rent a bit easier but honestly really wishes she could move back to the United States.
Family: Lila’s family consists of her older brother Walter, her fraternal twin Leo and her baby brother Bernard. Walter was relatively standoffish and always too busy for her when they were kids, and with them being so far apart physically, they don’t really talk anymore. She really wishes that they did but has a really hard time spending time with him even before moving to Italy.
Leo is someone who they used to be really close with, but both time apart and together has made their relationship deteriorate quite a bit. As for Bernard, Lila feels a lot of responsibility towards him and was pretty much a stand in parent for him during his childhood, but also doesn’t feel that she can get really close to him as a person due to that. Her parents died when she was young enough that she doesn’t really remember them that well.
Friends: She’s relatively close with Joseph, as he can understand her a bit better than Suzi might, due to the language barrier. They have a relatively similar personality although they didn’t entirely get to know each other super well during the time he was in Italy before leaving to fight with the pillar men, but when he returned, they had a fair bit more time to bond. As for Suzi, she’s relatively close with her and keeps getting closer to her. There’s just something about Suzi that draws Lila in and the only thing keeping her from acting on the feelings is Joseph.
Relationship status: Crushing hard but still single
Pet(s): None
Occupation: Worked as a beautician before and after moving, works as a factory worker
Languages: English, is definitely not becoming fluent in Italian anytime soon but is trying to understand it better.

If ur still taking infinity train questions what do u you think is the fav genre/musician of each of the main characters?
i am ALWAYS open to infinity train asks. not even just questions just like talk @ me abt inftrain KJFJKDSHGK
ANYWAY THIS GOT LONG AS SHIT SORRY LMFAO I HAVE BRAINWORMS <3 put a break after ry and min to not be Too long sjhfjkfsdg
min and ryan are easy ones, theyre 80s kids and we already have a vibe of their tastes based on their shared enjoyment of ymo, a synth band, and the fictional ridge irvine whos implied to be ur typical 80s rock type beat, id say ryan has much broader taste than min what with his penchant for experimentation (like his many outfits in the twin tapes) but hes defs a rocker boy at heart, hed definitely be into the likes of queen and depeche mode, min is probably more into the synth-y stuff by comparison and i honestly think hed be really into avant garde deep cuts, w his classical training and the way he talks abt the fake "carnivaliant" album hed probably really enjoy analyzing the structure and instrumentation of music so weird songs w wacky structure would be super up his alley!! i cant think of any specific artists off the top of my head besides ymo but KHGDFSJK
jesse is a theater kid at heart, his top listened to artists and tracks on spotify are all musicals and showtunes LMFAO. hed also probably like sunny uplifting pop tracks, and i do like the idea of him being in chicken choice judy so add a touch of 80s synth vibes in there too. he has absolutely danced and sang into a hairbrush to whitney houston's "i wanna dance with somebody" in his room more than once, and lake pokes fun at him over it (until he manages to suck them into also Jammin Out™) u kno hes got tracks from cats the musical side by side w britney spears in his every day playlist LOL
lake listens to mcr this is not up for debate they have scream sung helena alone in their bedroom on days jesses' parents arent home and yes they are a little embarrassed about it (only a little tho). considering how eager they are to experience the prime world first hand theyd probably dig for all kinds of music and be really into grungey underground rock and older punk shit, jesse ofc manages to get them into ccj also and they have a hard time Not getting sucked into jesse's energy when hes groovin to his bubblegum pop. they wouldnt be caught dead jammin to a showtune tho
tulip seems like the type to listen to video game osts usually, and cheesy 70s-90s pop songs (*insert clip of her singing word up here*) but she probably also listens to like those lo-fi hiphop study streams LMFAO,,,, a lot of her more modern music probably comes from mikayla, who listens to hot 100 shit. u kno those two would sing lizzo songs together and itd be adorable
honestly being on the train so long i have a hard time pinpointing such "normal" stuff for grace and simon, they feel so detached from anything off the train its like. what WOULD they be into??? i cant imagine grace being particularly picky abt her music as long as its got a strong thumpin beat she can bop to shell probably be into it lol. simon on the other hand,,,, honestly. does not seem like a music guy. this man listens to white noise and nothing else JGHSDFKG he probably just listens to whatever happens to be playing around him, or the music grace shows him. tbh i kinda have a hard time pinning down mundane stuff abt grace and simon especially simon so khdsjklhsklg

TFP Megatronus x Orion Pax Experimental Concept Playlist: The Timescale of Cybertronian Lives + Music from 1890 - 2021
I know there are tons of playlists for these characters out there, but I’m trying to do something a little less conventional with this one; Please hear me out!
Two Playlists in One: Love Throughout The Ages
The first half of this playlist is almost all new music mixed in with some hits from the 60s, 70s, 80s, etc. to give variety, plus tracks from different genres so that hopefully everyone has a song they can enjoy in there somewhere.
For the second half of the playlist, I wanted to emphasise the idea of how long the war on Cybertron has been going on for, and just how old this conflict and the people involved actually are.
Cybertronian Timescale: Long Lives and The Perception of Time
We think of the Orion Pax / Megatronus stage of their relationship as being relatively brief, which it was in comparison to how long the war has been going on for as of TFP, but these are people who live for centuries. The scope of that is staggering.
Optimus Prime and Megatron have known each other personally (either positively or negatively) for longer than modern human civilisation has existed.
So to me, the best way to touch on that idea of time, musically, is to have the first half of the playlist be modern music, remixes, etc. and then the second half is well known and lesser known hits throughout early radio/TV (with many tracks on this playlist pre-dating those forms of media as well).
What’s on the Playlist, Then?
My grandmother was born in 1914, and her music collection spans nearly 100 years. It’s all good stuff.
I have included some of her favourites, which she always called her “sweetheart jingles”, on this soundtrack. I think many of them work surprisingly well for the Megatronus/Orion Pax relationship.
Many of these songs will probably be unknown by the vast majority of people who might want to listen to this playlist, which is also appealing to me. (I hope if this is your first time hearing some of these, that you enjoy a few of them!)
My parents were born in 1944, and I remember all of the classics they would play; Some of those tracks will be more recognisable as this was the era when radio and TV became far more common and accessible, but I picked the tracks that I think best apply to the pairing and the relationship between the two characters at that point in their lives.
The link to the playlist is below after some notes on Cybertronian language evolution!
Quick Thought: Cybertronian Language Over Time and Era Specific Speech Patterns
While thinking about my grandmother’s music collection as I assembled this playlist, I thought about some of the words and phrases she used commonly that are now totally non-existent in modern conversational English.
She had what would probably sound to most people like “1930s radio voice” or a more Trans-Atlantic Accent way of speaking; She grew up in the Northeast USA and so she had a very distinctive way of stressing the vowels in words. It’s not just the words themselves, or how they were pronounced, but the tone and pace of speech was also very different.
This got me thinking about Cybertronians, age, and speech:
Bots as old as Ratchet may have grown up with a totally different spoken language version of Cybertronian, and we already know that there are regional dialects, multiple written forms (glyphs), and era-specific types of Cybertronian language.
But the way they speak, as I mentioned above with the stressing of vowels and the tone and pace of speech, might still be different due to the different eras, even after language packs/programs are downloaded and updated periodically as needed. We already know Cybertronians have regional accents, so it stands that generational accents would also possibly exist as well.
Such a difference in speech patterns could possibly be used as a primary indicator of relative age on Cybertron, as physically they don’t age in the sense human beings do.
Back to the Playlist: Link + Track List + Notes on Audio Prior to 1930
The playlist is here on YouTube.
Scroll down to get to the second half (oldies section) if that’s what you’re here for!
Please note that the songs are not arranged in any particular order aside from the first half being newer music and the second half being far older music.
Also note, where original recordings are available on YouTube for some of the older songs, I have used those original recording versions.
However, keep in mind that there may be a couple seconds of “fuzz” at the top (start) of those older tracks, because they have been recorded from records or wax cylinders, which are formats of music that typically had a “pause” on the track to allow for needle and speed calibration when playing them manually. Modern records don’t do this in quite the same way and nobody uses wax cylinders anymore, but older records typically did. If this bothers you, skip ahead about two seconds or so, and it will resolve.
Tempo may seem slightly “fast” on two of the tracks due to difficulties with the medium and modern recording tech/methods, and one track has some persistent “fuzz” throughout due to the original recording being rare and therefore it is a “best copy available” type archival recording, but otherwise I’ve managed to find the clearest audio possible for the vast majority of the older songs!
(Fun music note, the “click track” in modern digital music was partially inspired by the clicking of the needle hitting the “countdown grooves” on old cylinders and records, which creates an audible mild clicking sound as the needle finds the groove and provides time for usually a half rotation or full rotation of the record before the track actually begins to allow for adjustment before the music starts! If the clicking is too fast, dial down the rotation speed, for example.
This itself was inspired by classical metronomes as well as the actual physical method of playing the music in this way, but it’s cool to see how this persists throughout musical history even now when we don’t need the click for digital production for quite the same reasons/applications. It’s all about timing, no matter the medium or era!)
Due to the method of how some player piano rolls were credited, often by roll company and not by individuals, the actual artist name is often not available for those tracks. Where possible and where known, I have included credits to the artists/musicians. I have done my best to research and find the artists in these recordings.
I have also included orchestrions and other “automated” music in addition to a player piano track as I think it’s interesting; These are often very old compositions being played on these machines, and as such are designed to reflect the earliest days of their relationship.
Songs range from the years 1890 to 2021, and I will add more as I manage to find YouTube videos with some of the older songs I’m still looking for.
By the way, if you need a love song for like an actual partner or crush that you have, I’m just going to say it now and point out that a lot of these classics are great to use in real life for cute purposes. My partner of ten years agrees, and my grandparents were married for over 60 years and sang many of these daily, so obviously something here works well. You’re welcome. ;)
Below the cut is a track list of the second half of the playlist, as it’s 7 AM and I’d like to emphasise the “classics” section here as it’s the central theme of the concept.
I will add to this list as more tracks are added:
You’re the Top - Cole Porter
What is this Thing Called Love - Leslie Hutchinson
I Get a Kick Outta You - Cole Porter
Puttin on the Ritz - Phil Spitalny Orchestra
What a Day - Carl Fenton
Come Fly With Me - Frank Sinatra
Earth Angel - The Penguins
Ring a Ding Ding - Frank Sinatra
In my Merry Oldsmobile - Billy Murray
Singin in the Rain - Gene Kelly
Dream a Little Dream of Me - Doris Day
Unforgettable - Nat King Cole
Can’t Help Falling in Love - Elvis Presley
Good Golly Miss Molly - Little Richard
Bei Mir Bist du Schoen - The Andews Sisters
Shine on Harvest Moon - Ruth Etting
1920s Dance Sequence from Don’t Knock the Rock
In the Mood -Glen Miller Orchestra
Dream Lover - Bobby Darin
When the Ragtime Army Goes Away to War (Artist Unknown)
After You’ve Gone - J. Lawrence Cook
My Sin (Artist Unknown)
Flick Flack by Albert Vossen (Unsure; Song + Artist Unknown; Orchestrion)
Lotosblumen Walzer by E. Ohlsen (Hupfeld Violina)
Waltz no.2 - Dmitri Shostakovich
Jupiter - Gustav Holst
Love Potion no. 9 - The Clovers (Please note, this song mentions the word “g*psy” once in the beginning of the track. Skip this song if you would prefer not to hear it; I have done my best to only include songs that are friendly to the modern listener, but where needed I will make annotations such as this one to ensure nobody has to hear anything potentially offensive, as is unfortunately often the case with older music/lyrics.)
Come a Little Bit Closer - Jay and the Americans
Sh-Boom - The Crew Cuts
Oh Boy - Buddy Holly

✨Event Announcement !!✨
Hi everyone <33
SO i told yall i was planning something new for my blog and i actually got this idea not too long ago. I’ve got a new bi-weekly event in the works: let me explain !
✨Musical Monday✨
The concept behind this is fairly simple, i’ll explain below the cut !
Every other Wednesday, I’ll post a little something to remind you that Musical Monday is in the works for the following week. You can then send in either
-an album you enjoy by any artist
-or a spotify playlist (that you created or that someone else created (with credits pls!))
and
-a book/show/movie who’s characters you want me to pair the songs with
my job is to then assign the characters from these shows/movies/books to the songs in said playlist/album.
!! (you can specify who you definitely want to see in the list if you’d like but it’s not necessary) !!
Every other Monday (meaning every fortnight), I’ll be posting the characters with the songs as well as a piece of writing underneath explaining why I thought they matched the song.
The whole point of this is to discover new music, hopefully give you my own recommendations as well, and also just to have fun and spread some love for these characters. I also genuinely adore analysing characters and digging deeper into their story arcs so this’ll be the perfect opportunity for me to share my thoughts with you and hear your own!
✨What shows/movies/books can I request?✨
you can request just about anything however I obviously haven’t watched every show or movie on the planet and I have definitely not read that many books so here are a few ideas to get you all started if you’re at all interested:
anything MCU, Teen Wolf, Sex Education, Gossip Girl, Friends, How I Met Your Mother, Glee, Sherlock, any Choices book, the Haunting of Bly Manor, the Haunting of Hill House, the Office, Bridgerton, Harry Potter, the Hunger Games, the Maze Runner, Shameless, the Goonies, Outer Banks, the Society, Derry Girls, American Horror Story (1-7), Grey’s Anatomy, the 100, Star Wars, Fleabag, Little Women, Disney movies, Barbie movies, Narnia, and many many more
if there’s anything else in mind that’s not on this list, that’s 100% ok, you can definitely still send it in. if i haven’t seen/read it and don’t plan on doing so, i’ll just say so (respectfully ofc), or i’ll add it to the list of stuff i have to watch!
✨What type of music can I request?✨
I’m a big fan of indie rock, alt-rock, hard rock, pop, soul, 70s music, honestly you can send in just about anything, I’m always down to listen to new stuff and I’ll mostly be focusing on the lyrics anyway!
✨Can I request a show/movie/book if it’s been requested before already?✨
honestly there’s hundreds of combinations you could send in. Someone could send in a request for Derry Girls x a specific Harry Styles album, and two months later someone else could request Derry Girls x a David Bowie album, or request How I Met Your Mother x another Harry Styles album. There’s little to no chance you’ll request exactly the same thing as someone else so please don’t hesitate to send in your asks!
✨Themes?✨
it wouldn’t truly be a mischiefandi event if themes weren’t involved of course! when it comes to seasons, holidays and international days like Valentine’s, Christmas, Halloween, New Year’s Eve, Summer, Spring, Winter, Autumn, or other random prompts, I’ll tell you on the Wednesdays before Musical Monday, notifying you that it’s a special edition (along with additional guidelines if there are any).
✨Dos and Don’ts✨
do make sure to send in A) a playlist or album + B) a show, or movie, or book (remember: A+B!). I expect I’ll get quite a few requests over the next few months and I won’t have time to go and ask you for more info privately, so please send in both or I’ll have to delete your request.
do be patient with me! if you sent in a request a few months ago, chances are I’m still working on it or you’re on the list and I’m getting to you :)
do send in multiple requests if you want to! i genuinely will be super happy to add them to the list!
don’t harass me with the exact same requests over and over again please haha. Like I said, chances are you’re already on the list and it’s really easy to see when a specific anon keeps sending the same asks so pls don’t.
don’t be rude to other people if they don’t necessarily agree with your point of view about a specific character description. this is all meant to be fun and light-hearted. debating and discussing these characters is 100% encouraged as long as it’s constructive, polite, and civilised. any unnecessary rudeness or hate will be deleted immediately.
don’t make fun of people for the characters or books/movies/shows they like. if on one specific Musical Monday you see the post is about a show you’re not a big fan of, just scroll. let people enjoy things!
don’t hesitate to ask me any questions that you might have about Musical Monday. anon is always on for my shy peeps out there and i’m more than happy to give you more clarification if needed!
✨How do I get notified when Musical Monday happens?✨
i’ve updated my taglist google form so please click here and fill in the Musical Monday taglist box if you would like to be tagged every other Wednesday as a reminder for the next Musical Monday, and every Musical Monday of course.
You don’t have to be on my writing taglists to participate in this and you definitely don’t have to be on the Musical Monday taglist in order to send in a request. Anyone can join at any time, the taglist is only for the people that want to make sure they don’t miss a Musical Monday.
Again, if you have any questions about this game, my inbox is open <3
I am super excited about this project and I’ve been mulling it over for a little while now. Hopefully this is something that you guys will enjoy and want to participate it. I know a lot of you enjoyed the musical blurbs i did in November (still have a ton to do btw), so I thought that this could be fun also! My hope for this game is that it’ll create dialogue about these characters that we love so much and I’m so excited to hear your guys’ thoughts and recommendations!!
Love you all and hope you’re all having a lovely February
✨When will the first Musical Monday go down?✨
this Monday! exceptionally it’s on short notice, but for future reference, you’ll have a whole week to send in your requests no so worries! Please send in any requests you have for this Monday though!!
the theme for this Monday (15/02/21) is Valentine’s Day of course so my descriptions will be love-related but if you have any requests for stuff that has nothing to do with love, that’s more than fine, I’ll be adding them to the list for the upcoming Musical Mondays!
✨Tagging everyone in my taglists just this once + some mutuals to spread the word✨
@stiles-o-dylan24 @duskholland @mersuperwholocked-lowlife @r0s3mm @redstringlovers @captainbuckyyy12 @soincredible @behind-my-hazeleyes27 @cheesecakes-randomshitz @traveleraroundsworld @alwaysforever73 @thelittlestkitsune@glaimtruelovealways @texaskitten30 @abitofeverythinggg @alwaysforever73 @hcomet28 @thegirlwhoimagined @cherriesanwine @decaffeinated--fangirl @shutupstyless @x-give-em-hell-kid-x @teen--marvel @soincredible @behind-my-hazeleyes27 @bibliophilewednesday @jazminebrightxx @cheesecakes-randomshitz @traveleraroundsworld @perrytheplatypus11 @stixnstripesworld @masterofbluff @drakewalker04 @superapplepie @apatheticanvas67482 @theamazingtomholland @earthlyholland @siriusly-harry @solstilla @mrscutiefandobhaz @mrs-mitch-rapp93 @all-alone-he-turns-to-stone @isaiahjesus -> it’d mean the world to me if you could signal boost this to spread the word, but if you’d rather not interact, that’s totally okay! don’t worry! you won’t be tagged anymore unless you’ve added yourself to the Musical Monday taglist here.
thank you and see you on Monday 15/02/21 at 8 pm CET (= UTC+1)  /  7 pm GMT (= UTC)  /  2 pm EST (= UTC-5)  /  11 am PST (= UTC-8)

Red Empress.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nKqslNcYAE&t=1762s
(Inspired by above playlist)
“-And who are you?”
“OH HI YOU ARE REAL!?” The ‘hero’ yelled in shock.
“Yes, I’m real. And what do you want? You interrupted me watching British Bake off…”
“..wait, you’re not gonna...shoot me? With like, a freeze ray, or cut my head off. Send dogs after me, none of that?”
“...Do you want me to hero?”
    “NO! I uh I mean no. Ma’am-”
“Then what the fuck do you want…I am busy.”
The hero looked up to a woman similar to what he had expected. She had black hair, wore gold jewelry, and glasses sat on her nose. But the person in front of him? The Terror of the 9 Hells, Dante’s Apprentice, The Red Empress? Wasn’t there. She had a grey cardigan on, yoga pants. She looked down at the little hero with disdain and an air of condescension. Like he was trying to sell her girl scout cookies and doing a bad job at it. The hero looked at his research. Scribbled into a composition notebook was the address of what he thought was the evil lair to the greatest supervillain of their era.
“I am a future hero, or I want to be-” She raised a hand, cutting him off.
“-So you came down to my apartment, which by the way is super creepy. How you got my address I do not know. Then decide to knock on my door. Knowing who I am, you still did so. Did you think this was a good idea?” Slightly amused look fixed onto her face.
“No, I don’t think it was a good idea. But I need to know.” He said with all the sincerity in his heart. “My grandma, she loves you. Has some of your newspaper clippings on her wall. She won’t shut up about you. Saying ‘there weren’t any more good heroes today’. Google just showed me all your recent stuff about how bad you are. You disappeared for like...10 years. Then came back a villain.”
She looked him over. Grabbed his notes out of his hand despite his protests. Flipping through pages she takes a red pen from behind her ear and starts writing in his book. Once she hands it back, it's annotated. Edited. Like how a teacher reviews a paper from a student. Leaning on the doorway she looks into the hall.
“Kay-” Standing back up on her feet she opens the door all the way pushing him in. “-You get until my episode of Bake off is done. C’mon kid.” Grabbing a fistful of his hoodie she leads him to her living room.
The apartment looked over all of Manhattan. Marble floors, red plush furniture. Bookshelves dotted with ‘souvenirs’. Some he recognized as heroes' weapons and memorabilia. A stone head looked in fear out into the room. The head was of the previous ‘supervillain’ from the 50s. A silver glove with runes carved into the surface glowed as the hero passed. A gun from the ‘Manhattan Mad Hatter’. A drugged out ultra-rich chemist who made it his mission to destroy and flatten everything from here to Tokyo in the 00’s.
“You want to talk, kid, or do you wanna look at the knick knacks?”
“Right!” He blurted, going to the couch next to her. A small brown dachshund curled into a ball on her lap. “Where did you go for ten years?”
“Rehab, Therapy for a bit. Um, Austria. Russia for a while. Went to Tasmania. Seattle. Mainly Rehab though-”
    “-For ten years?”
She smirked. “You try being a hero for 30 some odd years and not have a drug problem. The 60s and 70s everyone was...disposed. In something. Or someone. There was always a cult to join, doctrine to follow, party to go to. Lots of those Heroes from the glory days died from cocaine, or other drugs. The cops shot the bodies so they could report that they died in the line of fire.” A dark and far away quality clouded her eyes. “-10 years for rehab after seeing your friends, coworkers, freaks of nature you got to call family die? Sounds reasonable to me. I spent the 80s in a fog. God knows what I really did.”
    “Oh....”
She scoffed. “Yea- oh! They don’t tell ya that in history class do they?”
    “No, Ma’am…”
“Thought as much.”
“You were a hero though! Post WWII there were comics, radio stations, songs, all praising you. Some I saw where you punched a Nazi and went for ice cream after. Don’t take this the wrong way please. I would like to get home today, but you look like you’re in your 30s. You should be 90 somethin”
“That I did do- but ya. And who said I wasn’t 90 somethin? You ever hear that fuckin super solider bullshit? They made Rogers and Bucky do? Where did you think the research was tested? They had to go from somewhere and I dunno...I had the day off.” She shrugged. Her face flickered with rage when mentioning the previous heroes. “And look where it got them, Steve is dead, and Bucky is off with some fuckin retirement bullshit. At least I didn’t retire! I got a job to do, I got taxes to pay.”
“...you pay taxes????” The boy looked at her very confused.
“I am a villain, not an asshole.”
She started to pet her dog, them nuzzling into her hand.
“So you became a villain- came back in 2000. Crashed the Met Gala. Stole the artifacts on display. Crashed a car. Set fire to buildings- why?”
“Ah- the age old question.-” She looked at him. Took a minute of silence with her. The air slowly left the room he felt. Under the steely gaze of the most deadly woman in the world.
“I got tired. Of being owned, propped up, posed, told what to say. The Hero's Union, a committee of people ‘sworn to protect the sanctity of Heroes’ and what they represent and fight for’ never was actually there for us. Type casted us into America's sweetheart, Funny side character. Big strong hero to save the day. Every interview I ever did as a ‘hero’ was never my actual words. I would have been a fuckin amazing actress I’ll give ya that. Smile and tell the people watching not to panic. Not to worry. Us ‘Hero’s got it handled. We were let to suffer unbeknownst to the general public. ‘Lady Justice’? She was 5 months pregnant and the Union wouldn’t let her stop the missions. She ended up having a miscarriage due to stress and what they were putting her body through. It's not just her, it's everyone.”
“So why not just quit? If it was that bad, go on strike or something.”
“That's easy for you civilians to say. You can strike when you work a normal 9 to 5. You can quit your job. You can move on. But as I said, little hero. I was out there for 30 somethin years. Punching Nazis, saving people. Being a Hero. When you are made basically immortal and are a freak of nature- there are things you learn you cannot do anymore. I can’t drive a car. I can’t work out without all the machines sparking out on me and breaking. No one wants to hire a freak now do they? There is no ‘pensioners plan’ for elderly heroes.”
“I guess not…You don’t seem all that Villainous to me though.” He says with a giant smile on his face. Ever the optimist.
She rolled her eyes, focusing on her show.
He looked closer at her face. Grey eyes with blue flecks. Slightly salt and peppering at the sides. She looked strong, obvious defined biceps and calves. Her neck and arms were covered in scars. A long scar ran from her forehead down her face leading in a curve to her jaw on one side. The red pen stuck behind her ear. Big 70s aviator glasses. Before he knew what was happening his hands were bound behind his back and his face was being pressed into the cold floor. She had not changed her position.
“You keep staring at me kid things will go badly for you.” She spoke not looking away from the TV in front of her. “-I don’t look evil, sure. But I will ask you.”
“What does ‘Evil’ look like? I was once a hero too.”

What Kind of Music Slashers Would Vibe to Headcanons♪
This little thing popped into my head. Fyi, the canon timelines are thrown out the window for this so... Yeah.
Bring forth the bop~
RZ Michael Myers
Tumblr media
"Let my weapons be your children, let my armies be your damned. Try to suffer on in silence, try to stop me if you can." --- This Cold Black by Slipknot
I think he'd really enjoy metal in general. I can totally see him unknowingly stomping to some Marilyn Manson and Meshuggah, though the lyrics and message probably will just fly over his head.
He listens to some heavy shit, but probably all the more mainstream bands/artists.
The loudness and organized chaos of the genre fills the void in his soul and reflects the state of his mind, despite his stoic and non-verbal outer demeanor.
Someone please do everyone a favor and introduce Michael to some death metal. Admit it, it really fits his aesthetic.
This is just based on speculation, but I suspect a 70% possibility of RZ Michael resonating with Cannibal Corpse. Fight me.
He hates classical music with a burning passion. Back in Smith's Grove, they played Bach's Air Sul G on tap. (its canon in the first movie lmao) He hates it. Mikey no likey.
Freddy Krueger
Tumblr media
"No stop signs, speed limit, nobody's gonna slow me down. Like a wheel, gonna spin it, nobody's gonna mess me around." --- Highway to Hell, by AC/DC
Freddy listens to classic rock, period.
This guy is ngl a supporter of music taste discrimination. You listen to pop? Disgusting. You listen to Jazz? Disgusting. Classic rock is the epitome of all music.
He'll call you music-related slurs you never knew existed.
As stubborn adamant as Freddy is, he does harbor some guilty pleasures, including 70's hair metal and glam rock. Pshh. What a heckin hypocrite.
Some of his all time favorites are Guns N' Roses, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, and AC/DC.
(Basic bitch)
*Hip thrust movements to go with his 'The Sprinkler' dance moves, Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N' Roses blasting in the background*
OG Michael Myers
Tumblr media
He doesn't listen to music, but if he did, he would probably enjoy Jazz.
Michael only listens to Miles Davis because he enjoys his music and can't be bothered to discover more artists.
Oml Michael I know Miles Davis is amazing but don't neglect other iconic artists plzzz. Someone please make him listen to some Teddy Wilson and/or Dave Brubeck.
I imagine him sitting stiff-straight on a rocking chair (he just likes how it moves), knife in his lap, rocking and zoning-out relaxing to 'Blue in Green'. (I love that piece)
#AfterHeFinallyKillsLaurie
#RetirementGoals
He also hates classical music because of the same reason as RZ Myers. Seriously, if either of them so much as hears the opening chord of Air Sul G, expect the speaker to be stomped to a pulp in a split second.
Bubba Sawyer
Tumblr media
Alright let's all be honest with ourselves... 70's pop and country is Bubba's shit.
Look me in the face and tell me he wouldn't adore ABBA, The Jackson 5, and Dolly Parton. Thats right you can't
Everytime 'Dancing Queen' starts playing on the radio, Bubba will drop everything and start busting down.
Ain't nothing and nobody stoppin him. Drayton is powerless against the supreme sovereignty that is ABBA.
But let's also appreciate the fact that our Bubster can motherfuckin get down. *wipes sweat from forehead + heart eyes*
He would also do passionate lip sync with his heart and soul, to Dolly Parton's 'I Will Always Love You'.
50% chance of him starting to cry right after he finishes his earnest performance.
*Holding Bubba in your arms, rubbing comforting circles on his back as he bawls hysterically, incoherently babbling on about how much he loves you*
I also feel for some reason he'd really like Joan Jett & The Blackhearts.
Thomas Hewitt
Tumblr media
"For one moment, I wish you'd hold your stage, with no feelings at all. Open minded, I'm sure I used to be so free." --- Citizen Erased by Muse
Y'know what I have a hard time imagining the type of music Tommy listens to. Kutos, Mr. Hewitt, you have defeated me.
siKE
(This is where I yeet the timeline out of the window y'all)
Thomas enjoys Muse, Evanescence, and Radiohead. (Fight me)
He just loves how emotional their songs are. He'd have one earbud in as he works away at his projects for hours. The music helps him concentrate, it is also a source of emotional support to him.
Hearing the heart-wretching lyrical content of 'Lost in Paradise' performed so beautifully by Amy Lee's angellic voice is really comforting to him. It's like hearing about another person's experiences. It makes him feel less alone in dealing with his emotional and mental turmoils and burdens.
The first time Thomas heard 'Creep' by Radiohead, he almost cried.
He also listens to My Chemical Romance sometimes. He only knows the Black Parade album, but he loves it. If 'Creep' didn't make him cry, listening to that entire album from top to bottom sure did. He started sobbing half-way through 'Famous Last Words'.
Tommy is emotional boi 🥺
Brahms Heelshire
Tumblr media
C l a s s i c a l
No matter how stinky Brahms is, you can't tell me that he's not classy.
Schubert is his bitch. Schubert's style tends to be quite majestic and/or dreamy, (generally) and can change color/sound very abruptly yet appropriately. (This is just my opinion based on experience with Schubert's pieces, but then I only know his piano pieces soo) (let's still cue that maestoso to scherzando transition)
But of course, Schubert isn't the only thing he listens to. He prefers the romantic period, so Mendelssohn, Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Shostakovich, Brahms, Schumann, you get the gist, all the staples. Oh yeah Elgar too. To be a proud English lad.
*Brahms swaying in the living room with the grace of a baby giraffe, engrossed in the beautiful melodies in Schumann's Kinderszenen.*
(Oml please check out 'Von fremden Landern und Manschen' and 'Kind im Einschlummern') (For those who play piano, they aren't that difficult too totally recommend) (Ok sorry I'm done now)
Brahms would totally waltz around alone to Chopin's waltzes and nocturnes.
Oh yeah apart from that classy shit, he likes to jam to meme songs.
"Hey now, you're an all star, get your game on, go play---"
*cut to Brahms passionately fortnite dancing*
Listens to The Strange Man Who Sings About Dead Animals for a good laugh. (Please, all of his songs are gold)
Vincent Sinclair
Tumblr media
He'll have 'emo' and 'classical' with a side of metal, thanks.
I headcanon that Vinny McWaxy is an INFJ, so the boy is likely prone to crippling existentialism. It would make sense for some aspects of his music taste to reflect that.
*cut to Vincent sitting rock-still on his workbench/stool, hands hover in mid-air, staring straight ahead, some John Cage piece playing*
You'll never hear this from Vincent but he enjoys sexy-time music. He has this whole erotic playlist he listens to while working. (Boy likes to feel sexy on the job, I respect that.)
I think its pretty much canon that Vinny loves MCR. (Hello fellow emo piece of shit 👋) His favorites are everything by them really. A hardcore fan. He used to have MCR, P!ATD, and 30 Seconds to Mars posters plastered everywhere in his workshop until he had to remove them all to add to the intimidation factor of his waxy hell for passer-bys. For the record, he is very gay for Frank Iero.
On the metal part of his spectrum is mostly classic metal, groove metal, and thrash/heavy metal.
Rammstein, Pantera, Vildhjarta, new and old Metallica, Dream Theatre, Coheed and Cambria. His bitches.
He also uses music to scare victims when bringing them down to his workshop. *cue horror movie soundtracks*
*KI KI KI MA MA MA*
Is a whore for the dramatics when in a good mood.
*Lacrimosa by Mozart plays as he makes a point to bring the wax painfully slowly down toward a drowsy and petrified victim*
A lament for your upcoming death, pitiful human.
Bo Sinclair
Tumblr media
"The day has come for all us sinners, if you're not a servant you'll be struck to the ground." -- Beast and The Harlot by Avenged Sevenfold
Bastard boy is into dad-music™. (same)
Dad rock, classic rock, pop punk, punk rock, old school pop, his shit.
He listens to a lot of the same bands as Freddy, but Bo (generally) doesn't discriminate and explores a more diverse variety of music.
Its a fandom canon that Bo loves Avenged Sevenfold. I totally agree.
A7x is the perfect amount of cynical, political, and shred for Beauregard, (I hc that ge hates his full name so plz don't ever call him Beauregard)
He listens to the radio whenever he's at work. Whatever that might be.
Will NEVER admit it, but he thinks Vinny's music taste is dope as hell.
He'll turn off the radio just to strain his ears to listen to Vincent's music downstairs. No one will ever know that though. You don't.
Actually likes classical music too. Its not one of his main genres but there's one piece he really likes, Second Movement of Shostakovich Piano Concerto No. 2 in F Major.
He never thought he'd enjoy this type of music. Its so.... Calm. He discovered that piece from Vinny's playlist. When he first heard it on his brother's speaker, he fell in love. It was one of the extremely rare cases in which he'd be committed enough to ask Vinny the name of the music.
Tiny shuffle for man-kind, huge fuckin step for Bo. Good job Bo, we're proud of you.
Also pleeeeeaaase message me or request stuff, I'm bored and have little inspiration 🦊
I might do a pt2 of this, since I didn't write many of the boys and gals🤷‍♀️
Also sorry if I've neglected some genres/artists (Like i've neglected non-piano classical pieces.... Bc ya girl is just a pianist), a person can't know everything😗

1990s Hip Hop Playlist
Welp, the 50th anniversary of hip hop completely passed me by over the summer, and I didn't end up saying a single thing about it here, even though hip hop really was my first true music love. So, to make up for it, I've got a bunch of hip hop playlists on the way, starting with this massive update to my 90s one, which adds twenty new songs. The original iterations of this thing were backloaded with late 90s stuff, but now, with this update, I've managed to frontload it with a bunch of early and mid-90s stuff too. So, let's dig in!
Every single song in this update can be found on a quadruple-disc compilation called The Best Rap Album of All Time, which was put out in 1999 by budget UK label Dressed to Kill. It's a superb collection that spans from the late 70s through mid-90s, and comes with some unmistakable classics, but its 90s fare consists of a bunch of underheard and forgotten gems. And those gems seem to be derived from a couple different sources: one, a super overlooked scene that Americans don't know anything about called Britcore that emerged during the late 80s in the UK underground, and saw people (mostly guys) spitting raw, hardcore raps over seriously banging breakbeats; and two, the catalogue of the great, New York-based Profile Records, who put out some fantastic rap tunes during their tenure.
So, first the Britcore. I added a bunch, but Da Hoodzmen's back-to-back tracks, "The Rhyme Ripper" and "Runnin' Rampant," are probably my favorites here. This totally obscure group is actually originally from Orlando, Florida, but their lone release was a 1993 12-inch that was only put out in the UK, on one of the country's top hip hop labels, Music of Life, and it really suited that whole boom-bappin', old school Britcore sound to a T. "Rhyme Ripper" has almost 12,000 Spotify plays and "Runnin' Rampant" has about 3,200. And obviously, they deserve a whole lot more, because even though they're not actual posse cuts like A Tribe Called Quest's "Scenario," they still definitely have that same level of gravitas and energy 😤.
And now, Profile. This label put out a lot of cool and gritty street rap from New York and New Jersey over the years, but they also had deals with people on the west coast, down south, and in the UK too.
So, the most popular add among all of these is "Word Iz Life," a mid-90s rap classic by New Jersey trio Poor Righteous Teachers that feels like it was made to be blasted out of a car's stereo on a hot summer's day. This one currently has about 8.7 million plays on Spotify and is fronted by a serially underrated emcee named Wise Intelligent, who is one of those five-percenter conspiracy rappers with pretty wacky views, but the guy can definitely rap circles around just about anyone, as he clearly shows on this very track here.
Then there's two vets from New York who both happen to possess really deep and distinctly gravelly voices: Nine, from The Bronx, and Smoothe Da Hustler, from Brownsville, Brooklyn. Nine's biggest hit was "Whutcha Want," which hit #3 on the Billboard rap chart and #50 on the Hot 100, but his follow-up single, "Any Emcee," was terrific too, which only peaked at #35 on the rap chart. That song, which pairs his rough vocal with a smooth sample of The Spinners' "I'll Be Around," has about 166,000 plays. And then Smoothe Da Hustler's fantastic piece of 1996 gangsta rap, "Hustler's Theme," which was deeply inspired by Curtis Mayfield's own "Freddie's Dead," only has about 25,000 plays, which is, just, way too low.
And another pretty popular track in this update comes courtesy of LA's legendary DJ Quik, whose slice of g-funk in "Summer Breeze" has about 2.2 million plays on Spotify, and should be everyone's golden age rap summer go-to instead of DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince's "Summertime." Both aim for that same exact feelgood, laid-back, nostalgic party vibe, but "Summer Breeze" is just a better song in every way.
Speaking of g-funk, you can't sleep on Dallas' Ganksta C either, who delivers one of the coolest pieces of hazy, whining synth gangsta rap you'll ever hear in your life, with "Just Another Day," which has about 44,000 plays.
And keeping it south, comes one of Profile's most slept-on signings of all time: M.T., who hails from New Orleans. This guy sounds a bit like Method Man, but he's also able to do that silly thing where you slightly open your mouth, vigorously shake your head, and then produce a noise. And he does it while he raps, which is wild! Comparable in quirkiness to someone like Ol' Dirty Bastard or early Busta Rhymes, M.T.'s excellent "Set It Off" has under 1,000 plays!
And then across the pond in the UK, Profile had Daddy Freddy, who originally hails from Jamaica. He's someone who's unmatched when it comes to that furious ragga style, and he shows why on "Go Freddy Go" and "Haul & Pull," which have about 16,000 and 33,000 plays, respectively.
Standing Ovation - "Onslaught" Daddy Freddy - "Go Freddy Go" Monte Luv & DJ Rob - "Silk Smooth" Militant Posture - "Down of Terror" Brothers on Organised Missions - "B.O.O.M." Brothers on Organised Missions - "Delivering the Answer" 2nd II None - "Ain't Nothin' Wrong" Kobalt 60 - "Kaos From Order" Daddy Freddy - "Haul & Pull" Killa Instinct - "Un-United Kingdom" Da Hoodzmen - "The Rhyme Ripper" Da Hoodzmen - "Runnin' Rampant" Potna Deuce - "Can U Dig It" Ganksta C - "Just Another Day" DJ Quik - "Summer Breeze" Nine - "Any Emcee" M.T. - "Set It Off" Smoothe Da Hustler - "Hustler's Theme" Poor Righteous Teachers - "Word Iz Life" Big Al Zoota - "Zoota Bang"
I also added a couple songs that can't be found on Spotify to the YouTube version of this playlist too. And both tunes happen to be by guys who sport British accents, but only one of them is actually from England itself, while the other, Dana Dane, hails from Brooklyn. Dana faked his British accent in order to stand out from his peers, and it proved to be a successful move, because a bunch of his singles actually managed to chart, including his late 80s classic, "Cinderfella Dana Dane" 😂. But his 1990 song, "Something Special," which currently has about 70 plays, is pretty great too. And then the actual British act, a London duo called 499, supply "Don't Categorise Me," a sweet piece of chill jazz-rap that sounds like it could've been produced by someone like Pete Rock, and currently has about 11,500 plays across its handful of YouTube uploads.
Dana Dane - "Something Special" 499 - "Don't Categorise Me"
And this playlist is also on YouTube Music.
So, with this large update, the Spotify version of this playlist now has 31 songs that end up totaling 2 hours and 9 minutes, and the YouTube version has 52 songs that total 3 hours and 35 minutes. So, if you want a lot more 90s hip hop gems, be sure to check out the YouTube one.
Enjoy!
More to come, eventually. Stay tuned!

Completely Fantastic
Someone To Stay Ch. 8
Spencer x fem reader
Tumblr media
The next morning you wake up and start packing as you prepare for the drive back home. You take your hair out of the bun you had slept in, leaving it with some long loose waves. You throw on a long, flowing navy and white maxi skirt with a navy tank top and some strappy sandals. You are feeling particularly in touch with your bohemian side after a weekend spent in the great outdoors.
After filling up on a quick breakfast, you grab your bags and head out to the car. You look to Spencer. "Is it okay if I drive?"
He appreciates you asking. No one ever does. They just assume.
"Sounds good!" He tosses his keys over to you. After filling the trunk with both of your bags, you scoot into the driver's side and adjust the seat and mirrors. You may be tall, but Spencer was much taller.
As you pull out of the driveway and make your way down the road, Spencer looks towards you.
"I'm guessing you want music. I don't really have much. If you hand me your phone I can put on whatever you like."
You unlock your phone and hand it to him, smiling at the kind gesture. Seems like he catches on quick.
"Hmm" you think out loud. "Well, I know you haven't listened to quite as much as me so we have a lot of genres to cover on this car ride. We'll start with the 70's and go from there. Just put it my 70's playslist on shuffle. We'll let my phone pick for us."
Gypsy by Fleetwood Mac comes on. A smile of content spreads across your face. You reach into the compartment above your rear view mirror and grab what you liked to call your "John Lennon Sunglasses". They're rosy and oversized and perfect for your current mood. You roll the windows down and let the wind whip through your hair, resting your elbow out the window. Sunshine warms your skin as you listen to the incredibly talented Stevie Nicks.
After a few more songs you ask him to flip to the 80's playlist on shuffle. As Forever Young by Alphaville comes on, you see a look of recognition on Spencer's face.
"Oh yeah, I forgot you were an 80's baby! 80's pop is some of my very favorite."
He smiles and nods. You get it. There's something oddly comforting about nostalgic music from your childhood. You let the rest of the 80's playlist finish, since you both seem to enjoy it.
Eventually Spencer turns in his seat to face you.
"I had a lot of fun this weekend." He states this with a fairly serious look on his face.
"Yeah me too! Is everything okay though? You look like you have more to say?"
He continues, while fiddling with his hands and hair and staring down at his lap. He's clearly nervous.
"It's uh j-just...would you...well would you want to be friends? I know that's p-probably an odd question I just, well I enjoy hanging out with you. Since I don't see you at my uh place of work I wasn't really sure the c-correct protocol for..."
You reach over and squeeze his hand to cut him off, since you can see he's clearly only making himself more anxious.
"Hey" you give him a reassuring smile.
"We're already friends. I think we have no choice but to continue hanging out. I mean, we just get along to well, it's not really up to me" you joke.
The both of you laugh and he seems to relax again. He squeezes your hand back as a thank you. Before you return it to the steering wheel.
"How do you feel about a weekly movie night?"
His eyes light up at the idea before clouded over, clearly thinking it through.
"My job..." he starts before you cut him off.
"I know, Spencer. Don't stress. My job schedule is inconsistent too. I mean, I get my schedule given to me six weeks at a time but, I work different sets of days each week. It's completely random. But that means I have four days off a week so I like our chances. And if some weeks it doesn't happen, that's ok too. You go save lives, and I'll help heal them. It's what we do."
He raises his eyebrows in surprise before responding.
"Oh well you've thought of everything, huh?"
You shrug, trying to conceal a smirk. "Maybe."
He looks to you. "Ok so what will be watching first?"
"Hmm, I'll let you pick first. And we can trade off?"
"Well I don't know how into fandoms you are but... would you mind if we watched some of Harry Potter?"
Usually your face is a huge giveaway to what you were thinking, and not just to FBI profilers. In this instance, you were incredibly determined to keep a straight face and not let on a single thing.
You just give a small nod as you keep your eyes on the road, expressionless.
"Sure, we can do that."
"Ok, so when and where? Or do you have that planned too?"
"Well..." you think for a minute before extending the offer. You don't want to scare off your newest friend.
"I'm free tonight if you'd like. We can unpack and maybe sneak in a nap first?" You glance over to gauge his reaction.
He smiles and nods, on board with the idea.
"Yeah, and I can meet back at your place at 5? Want me to bring anything? The DVD's?"
"Oh no it's fine! I'm pretty sure I saw them on Amazon or YouTube TV..." you respond, still trying to control your face. You really wanted to fool the genius profiler.
Spencer asks to borrow your blanket before curling up in the passenger seat and taking a nap the rest of the way home. It was too adorable. You couldn't help yourself. As you pulled up to a red light, you snap a quick picture of him. You also take a selfie with you making goofy faces, Spencer sleeping in the background.
You gently shake him awake after parking outside of your building. You grab your bags out of the back and wave to him as he backs the car out.
Once in the apartment, you take Juneau out for a quick walk. The dog sitter had given you detailed  updates while you'd been away. You throw your weekend bags in the closet and hop in the shower. After drying your hair, you throw on a Black Borgin and Burke's T shirt and some black leggings and get to work.
It's September which, for you, meant the Halloween decor was abundant. You plug in all of your purple, green, and orange string lights placed all around your living room and kitchen. You light several candles you have scattered amongst your Halloween decor. Your shelves are lined with pumpkins, potion bottles, and various skeleton items.
You pop in your guest room to make sure it looks presentable. You're fairly sure he won't be expecting anything like what he's walking into tonight. On one hand, if it scares him off then it was bound to happen eventually. But if he doesn't mind...well maybe this friend is in it for the long haul.
You grab two butterbeer mugs and set them on the counter next to an assortment of flavored hot chocolate packets. You also set out microwave popcorn and a bowl of Halloween candy.
You decide to do one last thing, really hoping Spencer won't think you're completely insane. It's not long before you hear a knock at the door.
You open it, wearing your Ravenclaw robe and your glasses which just so happen to look a bit like Harry Potter's.
Spencer's brow wrinkles in confusion before he starts laughing.
"So I'm guessing you've seen Harry Potter before!" He says after finally catching his breath.
"Ummm..." you smile and just take his hand pulling him through your apartment till you reach your guest bedroom.
His eyes widen as he looks around at all your Halloween decorations. Before he can comment he's standing speechless in the doorway.
He looks around to see a completely Harry Potter themed guest bedroom, filled with creatures, books, wands, and more.
"Yeah Spencer, I've seen the movies" you finally say, letting out a laugh you've been holding back.
He looks stunned. "How did I... but you..."
"Yeah I'm usually pretty bad at hiding things so I have no idea how I pulled this one over on you. Aren't you supposed to read people for your job?" You joke with him, nudging his side with your elbow.
He's still just standing there, eyes wide, taking it all in. He walks over to the book shelf to flip through what you have.
"You have the potions book?...the maurader's map?...even the Quibbler?"
You just shrug, smiling as you watch him look around.
"So you don't think I'm completely crazy?"
"I think you're completely fantastic!" He blurts out, blushing a bit after he says it.
You bite your lip as you say " I may or may not also have the movies on DVD in 4K...to watch on my new TV."
He steps back into the living room to see where the two of you will be spending the rest of the night.
"Oh, this is going to be perfect!"
He takes a moment to finally take in the complete explosion of Halloween across your home.
"I hired Jack Skellington as my decorator" you snicker, making fun of yourself a bit.
He turns to you, eyes wide once again. "You like Halloween too?" He reminds you of an eager little kid with the look on his face.
You answer him with an eager nod and a grin.
"Y/N, I think it's pretty clear that we were meant to be friends! Where have you been all my life?" He laughs.
You don't know why, but you feel yourself turning red at hearing this comment.
You prepare some hot chocolate and popcorn for the two of you while Spencer sets up the Sorcerer's Stone.
"Oh I almost forgot, I brought something!" Spencer pulls something out of his sweater pocket. He has handfuls of Ghirardelli chocolates.
"Are those Rossi's? From the trip?"
"I have know idea what you're talking about." He states with a smirk as he plops down onto the couch, tossing you one. You lean back against the opposite end, leaving you room to both stretch your legs out and share a blanket.
You try your best not to quote the movie that you know by heart, but you just can't help it. Then you look over and see Spencer mouthing along with the lines. You give him a small kick under the blanket.
"I bet you could do a one man show of these movies, Mr. eidetic memory." You giggle.
"From the looks of it, so could you. We could take our show on the road. We'd make millions."
The two of you burst into a fit of laughter. With Spencer, you're always smiling.

Fanfic Year in Review 2020
thanks for the tag @2manyfandoms2count! This took me a while to get to but here we are!
Ok I feel like this is just gonna end up being a post where I just gush about Phantoms in the Dark but like...c'mon
This is gonna get long so i've put it under the cut:
1) List of fics completed this year in the order they were finished:
Most of my stories are one shots of varying lengths, but I did actually finish quite a few so we have:
A Chance Encounter and So it Goes- both zenmaster fics for That 70s Show
Touch the Rain: I honestly forget I wrote this last year, it feels like I wrote it years ago but it's just a standard identity reveal in the heat of an argument type thing.
Ladybug Luck? What's That? The fic that really started my spiral into writing for the ML fandom, and the birth of the Bollywood Playlist series.
Post reveal, where they didn't know each other irl, Marinette sees Adrien at a Gabriel party, realises who he is, and does some property damage in the process.
our eyes speak (but on our lips is silence) At a wedding where Adrien is best man and Marinette is a guest they immediately recognise the other as their partner. Pure fluff and giddiness ensue
The Seduction of Marinette Dupain-Cheng Post reveal-Chat bets Ladybug that he can woo her as a civilian, employing good old fashioned tactics like flowers and poetry
Pink Snapshots of an Adrinette relationship. I just wanted to see if I could write an entire fic with no dialogue whatsoever, and this one got a huge surge in popularity recently so...guess I can!
Exposed Another fic where they don't know each other as civilians. When their identities are revealed in the worst possible way, Ladybug and Chat Noir hide out in a hotel room as they try to process the situation.
This Red Love My first enemies au! In which Adrien joins Hawkmoth from the beginning, but still goes to school and ends up dating Marinette. When he realises who she is, he has to re-examine everything he thought he ever wanted.
i have found someone (like a nomad finds a home) In the last one, Adrien willingly sided with Gabriel, but in this one, he is forced to after Stoneheart. Years later, he meets Marinette, who makes him feel like he isn't a monster.
Memory Chat Blanc in the aftermath when there is nothing left.
Phantoms in the Dark My biggest accomplishment last year! And the longest story I've ever written at 30k words. A historical marichat story based off my favourite poem The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes. I'm currently working on the sequel.
I only bow down to worship (but I come to a stop when I see you) In which Adrien knows Marinette is Ladybug, and she knows he knows. However, he hasn't told her he's Chat Noir. This is just cute relationship stuff in the same vein as Pink
Collect your Courage, Loyalty, I'll never be the thief (to bring in hot scattered hell) Thought I'd branch out to other fandoms and landed on ATLA. This is a series (eventual zutara) where Zuko realises almost immediately post banishment that he can't follow in his father's footsteps and rebels.
Dancing Lessons Chat Noir and Ladybug decided to reveal their identities at age 20, and now Chat has chosen the venue as well. The only problem is he needs to teach Ladybug how to dance first.
Wish Ok I hurt a lot of people with this one but it's one where in the final fight, Adrien is mortally wounded and Marinette uses the miraculous to save his life, forfeiting her life in the process.Flashes back and forth between her death and how Adrien is coping in the aftermath.
2) Number of words written: 79663. I actually wanted to hit 100k by the end of the year but as those in the guild know, I spent most of December doing kitchen renovations and being pissed about my lack of free time lmao
3) Your most popular fic: Phantoms in the Dark. it has yet to surpass my all time most popular fic it's all a game of chance (they say in wonderland), but it's catching up
4) Your personal fav: Dancing Lessons I wrote this way back in July last year but only posted it in December and I just, it's so sweet I really like it with the flirty banter and just the two of them being SO CUTE
5) Your fav scene: The scene at the end of ch6 of Phantoms where Marinette and Chat talk after their kiss and realise they both are very much into each other.
6) A fic or scene that challenged you:
I am really bad at action sequences, and even though in Phantoms Adrien was out fighting people on the regular, I just sort of...glossed over them. Except for in chapter 8, where I wrote a proper duel between Chat and someone he was robbing.
What I struggled with was describing the movements, not wanting to make it too complicated whilst not having it be 'he feinted and stabbed' or something really simplistic. There was a lot of pen acting involved, but I think the end result is quite good, if I do say so myself.
7) A line of writing you’re proud of: From Phantoms (of course)
In every lifetime, in every land, we shall find each other.
8) A comment that touched you:
I love every single comment that I get, but someone left this on my musketeers fic Going Through the Motions (posted as a series on ao3 to motivate me to finish the fic but when it was done I compiled all the parts and posted it on ffnet as a oneshot lol and one of my absolute fave fics I've written-no surprise that it's historical 😅) on ffnet, which was a HUGE compliment:
"I like the way you wove dialogue from the series with your fiction. Your story gives us a more complete picture of Bonacieux and explains why Constance rejected D'Artagnan, which we did not get from the series. Your version is better. Well done!"
9) Something that inspired your writing:
I mean...I have an entire series on ao3 that is just fics inspired by bollywood songs/scenes-and those were my main inspiration for so many things. (I actually realised the other day that a scene from the movie Kalank is what inspired me to write Wonderland lmao)
10) Your proudest accomplishment (that one scene; finally finishing that one fic; posting your first fic; etc):
Honestly, just writing consistently! I graduated in 2019 and in the past, I've started and abandoned so many projects and ideas, and even the first fic I posted on ao3-it took me a year to get the second chapter up and then I only finished it because I wanted to post other stuff but didn't feel like I could until I finished that one lol.
So yeah, that, and of course, actually writing and finishing Phantoms instead of abandoning it like so many of my other ambitious projects. I'm really proud of the 30k I wrote for that story because it's the most I've ever written for a single thing
11) Do you have any writing goals for the next year?
I want to finish Forgotten Promises, and the third story in the series. I have the vague plot for that one, and know what's going in the epilogue to end the series but I just need to get there.
Oh! and see 100 ways to say I love you to the end.
This was fun! I tag @theanxiouscupcake @an-elysian-tree @quarantined-fics and anyone else who wants to have a go!

The Post Everyone Has Been Waiting For: Cade’s Top 10 Albums of All Time
Honorable Mentions:
The Beastie Boys Paul’s Boutique (1989)
Tumblr media
A few years ago this album would have definitely cracked my top 10, and it is still so solid. The production on this thing is out of this world, and if you ever have a day to kill, listening to this Spotify playlist that has all of the samples Paul’s Boutique holds is an adventure, and truly shows what a labor of love this album is.
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/59FdNgdN0lHFNdr3ZsTTPa
Best Song: High Plains Drifter
The Rolling Stones Exile on Main St. (1972)
Tumblr media
As a general rule of thumb, I don’t like long albums. Blame it on my short attention span, but it is hard for me to believe any album over 11-12 songs couldn’t have anything cut. This album is one I can easily have on repeat, despite its 18 song tracklist. Truly the best of the Stones.
Best Song: Tumbling Dice
10. The Black Crowes The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion (1992)
Tumblr media
Bringing 70′s rock back to the 90′s, this is one of the first albums I remember loving as a kid. It is the epitome of Dad Rock, and each song has the entire band firing on all cylinders. Chris Robinson’s vocals on each and every track gives me chills, as he wears his heart on his sleeve with an emotional and powerful delivery with each lyric. Every time I listen to this record I come away with a new favorite track.
Best Song: Thorn in My Pride
9. Only Real Jerk at the End of the Line (2015)
Tumblr media
Every time I tell someone about this album I always say “This is what Ed Sheeran would sound like if he was actually good”. He has the British, fast speaking, break-up sound down to a science, with each track feeling like it was meticulously crafted both lyrically and production-wise. This album had such an impact on me in high school that it is hard not to have it higher. If Only Real dropped a new album, y’all wouldn’t hear from me for a few days.
Best Song: Cadillac Girl
8. Alvvays Self Titled (2014)
Tumblr media
So up until about a year and a half ago, I swore up and down that the newest Alvvays record, Antisocialities, was better than this one, their first, self-titled LP. I have been fully converted by my girlfriend (@peppermoths) that this is the superior album. This album feels like a gloomy summer night in the best way possible, and has a diverse tracklist of songs that make me feel sad, happy, and like riding a bike.
Best Song: Next of Kin
7. Billy Idol Rebel Yell (1983)
Tumblr media
This is the album I have based my personality on this summer. This, to me, is the quintessential album of the 80′s, with every track feeling like it could be playing in the background of The Lost Boys. I love everything about it. Every time I listen to this album, I realize how similar it is to David Bowie’s Let’s Dance both in length and general 80′s feel.
Best Song: Eyes Without a Face
6. Camp Lo Uptown Saturday Night (1997)
Tumblr media
It is impossible to not have fun listening to this record. One of (if not THE) most slept on 90′s hip-hop albums. It is a shame there aren’t more 90′s Camp Lo projects, but at the same time, this album is so flawless to me that I would be worried it would make their image less cool. USN has every kind of song you need off a 90′s album, and it always makes me want to boogie.
Best Song: Tied: Sparkle & Killin’ Em Softly
5. Parliament Mothership Connection (1975)
Tumblr media
What is there to say about any George Clinton project that doesn’t include: AHEAD OF ITS TIME. Mothership Connection is the epitome of this. I have always claimed that this is the album that got me out of my emo music phase, as my cousin played it for me once and I fell in love and ditched Fall Out Boy. This album is short but it doesn’t feel like it, and every song will make you get up out of your chair. (Also, if this was a list of best album covers of all time, this would probably be #1).
Best Song: Handcuffs
4. David Bowie Young Americans (1975)
Tumblr media
I’ll die on the hill that this is objectively the best Bowie project. This album is stacked without a single skip, and is the perfect length at a meaty 8 songs. From beginning to end, Bowie is able to construct an album that is as diverse as it can get while still feeling the most consistent out of any of his albums. You can tell that Young Americans had a lot of work put into it, and it paid off.
Best Song: Right
3. Grapetooth Self Titled (2018)
Tumblr media
Do you ever hear a song and think...wow...I wish I had wrote that? That’s how I feel with every track on the Grapetooth self titled. If you are a Twin Peaks fan, you should hear a familiar voice gracing the tracklist, and the iconic sound of Clay Frankel’s voice is put on full display on an album straight out of 1985. There isn’t a song on this LP that ever stops growing on you.
Best Song: Tied: Violent & Hangover Sq.
2. Bruce Springsteen The Wild, The Innocent, & the E Street Shuffle (1973)
Tumblr media
This is an album that requires about 10-20 listens to fully appreciate. The tracklist is short, at only 7 songs, but the average length of a song on Springsteen’s sophomore LP is around 6-7 minutes, so it is still about a 50 minute listen. I heard in a Bruce documentary that this album was considered a flop because of this exact reason; they couldn’t play these weird, long songs on the radio. However, I genuinely think this is Bruce at his finest, spinning a complex lyrical web that makes you feel like you are 17 and on the boardwalk. This was the album right before Born to Run, so it is often overshadowed, but don’t tell me listening to Rosalita (Come Out Tonight) doesn’t make you want to speed down the highway. Also, Bruce looks very sexy on the cover.
Best Song: Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)
1. The Sundays Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic (1990)
Tumblr media
I don’t even know how to do this album justice with words. I have never found an album with as much lyrical depth, ear-worm, jangly, timeless instrumentals, and repeat value as this one. Everything that this album is is sold by lead singer Harriet Wheeler leaving nothing to be desired with a perfect vocal performance on every single track. I could listen to this album for a week straight and never get tired of it. I have pretty much done that all summer, and I’m still not sick of it. Please go listen to this album if you haven’t yet.
Best Song: I could not choose one if I tried. Literally all of them.
