i'm writing drabbles about mercy, but they're specific story beats i want to explore more (like waking up on the beach)
my durge is a nonbinary feral creature and they also chose their name (so it isn't the name they had while bhaal's chosen). where I am at rn, they don't remember their name nor have they chosen a name yet. I can't figure out if it's less annoying to call them "the tiefling" and "the sorcerer" when i need to specify what the "they" is referring to, or if I should just refer to them as "The Dark Urge" until i get to where they pick a name to give
thoughts???

okay I'm like complaining again but I wanna hear other ppls thoughts on this because I'm too impatient to wait until I've gone through all the commentary for BrBa and BCS in search of answers to confirm or deny my suspicions but GOD A FEW THINGS ARE DRIVING ME INSANE and I apologize for this ramble being maybe a lil disjointed in advance
so like, first, this scene-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
if I look at this realistically it reads as Jake misinterpreting his and Jesse's parents talking about how Jesse's actions reflect back on them as genuine care, he's young, and I can imagine him having some insecurity in his parents care for him since we do know it is conditional, just Jake is currently meeting those conditions, but sensing that instability could've maybe influenced how he understood his parents talk of his older sibling.
but I just am having a hard time convincing myself that was intended when it was written... and this assessment from me could be unfair because - while I'm not quite sure at what point Jesse was no longer planned to be killed at the end of the first season - this does come from that first season, and I've heard there was a change in how Jesse was written after the first season and throughout the rest of the show there is NO evidence that Jesse's parents like, actually give a fuck about him, they actively make his life worse like when they kicked him out of his own goddamn house, and that all seems like those things have to be intended to make you think "wow Jesse's parents are awful!!!"
but then, not for me to complain about these two scenes in El Camino again but I'm gonna complain about these two scenes in El Camino again -
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
followed by this not too long after
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
because while if this movies thing of having blame being squared on Jesse's shoulders was just him talking to his parents it'd be easier to say "oh this is just a kid who was abused in a socially acceptable way not recognizing the abuse he went through and how that really did have a major effect on his life trajectory" but when these two scenes are put so close together it makes it really hard for me to not think that it's TRYING to say that Jesse is responsible for where he ended up even if they don't necessarily want bad things to happen to him
cause like I know, I know the writers are sympathetic towards Jesse but I don't think being sympathetic towards a character like him makes you immune to having harmful beliefs about addicts and criminals when they're so prevalent in wider society, like especially the idea that changing actions taken by individual people is the main problem that needs to be dealt with wrt addiction and crime instead of changing the structural problems that result in addiction and crime, like I've seen this mindset present in the fandom as well
I mean I know I have some evidence that at least Vince's ideas on justice aren't great with this bit from an interview about El Camino (also him having Jesse specifically say "I'm no cop killer" when Jesse would definitely know how cops are just another violent gang, like he could've just said "I don't want to kill anyone" instead of having cops on some higher level of innocence)
Tumblr media
like I dunno believing at all that there's a good way to end with Jesse in prison (and not as a way to show how awful prison is either, since he talked about the idea of Jesse finally finding some sort of peace in prison sleeping) is kinda fucked up!!! I do want to fight him for this alone!!! even if like glad he changed it but I dunno the fact that he believes this just makes it easy to believe that he really would!! blame Jesse to at least some extent for what he got into, like I think that he understands Walt manipulated Jesse but I just, I dunno!!! things in BCS kinda bother me too irt just general ideas of crime and drug use ect... but I'm much less familiar with that show in comparison to BrBa so I don't feel as comfortable pointing specific things in it
like... do Vince Gilligan and the writers of Breaking Bad see Jesse’s parents as shit parents who were abusive in a socially acceptable way? or do they really think that they really did their best? is it somewhere in-between? like "they were abusive but they still didn't know any better"? or maybe is it as bad as believing Jesse's parents tried their best and them being rich is supposed to show that he had all he needed to succeed and was just a fuckup (instead of it showing that his parents had all the resources they needed to help him and... didn't) am I just overreacting because I am protective of my girl and the people that I know exist like him and am suspicious of those writing about them if I don't know all their politics behind the subject? I know I've talked to some ppl who have vindicated me w/ some of this but please share ur opinions I want to know the wider ideas on this since I feel like I just don't see it discussed that often

Extreme trigger warning but I just came across a list that speaks volumes and the point they made hut ne like a truck...
That point being that Wukong was literally suicidal in s3 when he decided he was going to try to take the Samhadi Fire and use it to burn LBD up.
The Fire is known to be one of the few things in existence capable of killing him, he knows that Ao Lie taking on just a portion of it likely resulted in at minimum a shortened lifetime and very likely lead to his actual death, and that if left unchecked it could destroy the world. It's why they all sealed it away to begin with! And yet, this stupid, self sacrificial, immortal monkey was going to literally let himself be burned to a crisp in a half-baked attempt to stop LBD AND NOT THINK TWICE ABOUT IT! You can bet he fully expected to die in that moment and didn't care!
And throughout s3, you can tell Wukong wasn't quite right. He started the season with everyone angry at him for not warning them about LBD and going off on his own, inadvertently leaving MK to deal with the spirit on his own and putting him in danger. Wukong knows this and fully regrets it, you can TELL he's beating himself up over it the entire time, he's just hiding it because that's what Wukogn does when faced with uncomfortable emotions, he puts on a laid backed persona and pretends nothing bothers him, that such things are beneath him becaue its only for "dorky mortals," not an immortal hero like himself. It's what years and years of pain and misery and abuse had taught him to do. Because he's gotten to the point that all he and all he believes he can be is the Monkey King. The Legend, not the person.
Which reminds me... Throughout all of Lego Monkie Kid, nobody ever refers to Sun Wukong as his actual name except for one notable exception. Macaque. The person who was once Wukong's closest companion turned the most hateful enemy up u til that point. Someone who specifically targeted an innocent bystander simply for the crime of being Wukong's apprentice. How messed up would that make you, to get hundreds of years in isolation only for the first people you reach out to to never call you by your name? For the people you've come to love to only ever call you by a title you, more than likely, hate. The only person to call you is your own name, Macaque, who is actively trying to kill you and despises the very air you breathe and your very existence.
BIG TW cus its pretty heavy topic.
Me and another asker discussed this a while ago about how Wukong's canonical actions and behavior throughout the series are eerily similar to someone suffering from depression.
But I don't think he's actively trying to kill himself - at least he doesn't think he is. For Wukong; hosting the Samadhi Fire will either go off without a hitch - or he can leave the mortal plane in a huge final Big Bang.
It all goes back to his self-sacrificial nature, and becoming self-destructive after losing his Pilgrim brothers/support system.
The fact that he's been reduced to a "character" in the eyes of the public honestly makes him feel kinda sick. He can't think of who in his life would actually call him by his name - other than his enemies.
Also you are incorrect about Macaque being the only one to call Wukong by his name; Nezha and DBK pointedly call him by his name, albeit during moment when he's not in their good graces. Perhaps in Wukong's mind, the only people who really "care" about him anymore are the people who hate him/want to fight him.
Its sorta why a lot of my aus have Wukong re-establish a support system with assistance from the universe.
Wukong needs a therapy episode.

Note: I got kinda confused about who was going to react so I choose the bots if that's alright! Hope you enjoy
Note 2: Ratchet and Pharma use to be a thing lol as well mention of DJD
How Tfp! Bots would react to an innocent looking psychopath
Optimus prime
Is friendly at first to you since all neutrals are still good in his eyes. He understands why you don't want to be part of the war
Then... He looks closer at you.
You seem innocent and naive, something that he craves for bots to have. To be blissfully unaware of the war.
But how you optics don't really show your feelings, how you seem like your movement is planned and how your smile never seems genuine if he looks closer at you.
Something is wrong with you.
He brushes it off, in hopes that maybe you've gone through something and need some time to decompress into your normal self.
That's until the team catches you absolutely slaughtering the Vehicons in an emergency mine.
Blue luminous blood splattered on the Rocky walls, intestines and guts seemingly are hanging on the walls. Looking like a grotesque party. Your in the middle, laughing away as you continue punching a Vehicons helm. Their helm already a bloodly mess of wires and metal with no recognizable shape.
He's horrified
Without thought but the need to protect his autobots, he shoots you. And he shoots again, again and again.
Some hitting you, some missing but with a hiss, he has your attention.
You smile and wave.
Instantly you transform and run off.
Arcee
Did not at all like you not because your a neutral, well... That was one thing. But anyway, she like Optimus saw something wasn't quite right with your body language.
You remind her of arachnid, she wonders if you two having connection after the incident. She'd never seen Prime just shoot first and ask questions later.
Will probably kill you on sight now
Bumblebee
Was so friendly to you since he didn't have enough experience in perceiving body language or subtle statements. He was quite easy for you to persuade.
Absolutely horrified by you know, he'll probably have nightmares about the murder scene he saw for eons.
Has to explain to the kids that you quite literally worse than the Decepticons and if you are spotted to come comm the team.
Ratchet
Just like Bee know, he's going to become a helicopter parent to the kids. Hes just so paranoid of new people now. He let you in. He thought he maybe had a chance with you. That you're so kind to him.
He should've known better than to trust a neutral!
He's reminded of the DJD, sparkeaters and even his ex, Pharma.
He shivers at the list of atrocities he has seen.
Bulkhead
That was a surprise to him, he didn't really see it coming. He thought you were quite innocent.
Oh, how you played him like a professional you are.
How close you got to Miko, tugs at his spark. How you were so close to extinguishing the one of the last wreckers he knew, so know he guards Miko and the rest of the kids. Just like Ratchet but much worse now.
Bee will tell the kids not to do something, while Ratchet with micro manage them and Bulkhead will simply try to persuade them not do something
Basically your are either murderous to the killer or you become helicopter parent of the kiddies lol
Feel free to request!

So my lovely friend @purpleangelsele and fellow mileven shipper and tumblr user posted this today 👇
and it really got me thinking about how mike isn't really a touchy feely person like she said. When we first meet mike in season 1 episode one, we see that he's a nerdy kid who cares about his friends and plays that nerdy DnD game, but when they depart they don't shake hands or do that weird handshake thing that I've seen people do today which makes sense cause their in the 80s but still. The way they say bye is just either saying something sarcastic or talking about other people or just saying bye or see you tomorrow which I think it's funny. Mike isn't touchy feely, he's that friend who will do a half hug or who would shake your shoulder or pat your shoulder as a greeting and that's understandable, his family isn't the most touchy feely either with the somewhat exception of his mother. He's definitely not a hugger when we first meet him, or one that would hold hands with you or anything like that.
Then . ....
We meet el 😁😁. Our darling sweet and innocent el whose already killed people by the time they meet her 🤭🤭. And eventually they fall in love but during the duration of their one week romantic friendship, we do see mike being touchy feely with el, like putting his watch around her wrist, grabbing her wrist while running away, being in close proximity with her, hugging her, holding hands with her, grabbing her and dragging her away, grabbing her shoulders out of desperation to see if she's OK, and finally the big one kissing her. Then of course she "dissappears" and definitely causes mike to gave PTSD that will most definitely stay with him the rest of his life. I'd even go as far to say that her disappearing is the most traumatic event in his life. Enter season 2 and mike is depressed and moody but he does seem a bit more touchy, not by much but just a bit, character development anyone? There's this talented AO3 author who made a fic about how mike begins to show more affection after el dissapears and made a good point in showing that El was the one who helped him open up a bit (if you want the name of the fic please comment in the comment area and I will share it with you). I told @purpleangelsele that mike is like a moody little soft puppy when it comes to el, because nothing can shake his mean moodiness but when it comes to her, he just melts, and is really soft with her, after season 1 he never yells at her, or raises his voice, he's always soft and protective with her, quite clingy but it's justified. We only see this with el and I love that, I genuinely do believe that El is the only to fully experience and witness Mike's soft side because with her he doesn't want to be the leader of the party or the wheelers middle child, he just wants to be her mike who she loves, her mike who just wants to protect her from everything. My friend sel also made a good point about mike letting el be very touchy feely with him in season 3, clinging to him like a koala which is quite adorable, and he let's her do that. Mike strikes me as someone who wasn't exposed to that much physical affection growing up, aside from his mother and maybe Nancy when he was little but I'm not sure. So someone showing him so much love and affection must be kinda shocking to him because it's something he hasn't felt much. At the beginning of season 1 I doubt mike would have let one of his buddies or even a girl cling onto him like that, he'd probably push em off and get annoyed, but with el it's different. In fact he wants her to show him affection, I'm sure he definitely enjoys and even craves it, because el gives him all the love attention and affection he's always wanted and was somewhat deprived of. And we see mike giving el affection too, he's very protective of her and I'd say el is the person he's touched most in his life in a physical intimate way (not that way you creeps). We do know that holding hands and putting their foreheads together seems to be their signature go to acts of affection. Mike definitely enjoys kissing her and vice versa but I think hugging, holding hands and pushing their foreheads together is what they enjoy most.
Anyway, apologies for this veeery long post I just wanted to comment on our softboy mike with his sweet beloved el. Please enjoy these gifs.

CRACKS KNUCKLES TIME TO LORE DUMP. (i blame bravo SAKDSHF)
Okay, so we're going to start off with the fact that Drake lives on the streets, yeah? Drake ACTUALLY and PURPOSEFULLY avoids going to find another family because Drake HASN'T moved on from his grief or his childhood. He pushes it down as hard as he can to say "yeah my childhood was kinda shit lol". There's a reason for that.
Drake lives on the streets that way he does is because he actively avoids dragging other people into his mess. There are two reasons. A. He believes he's so fucked in the head and unable to control his urges to do the things that the older kids do in the Misfits (drink, do drugs / weed, smoke, get into arguments / fights) and to him? That's just a normal thing he believes older kids do, and he copies that to copy their coping mechanisms. You have to remember that Drake living with The Misfits are a bunch of runaways, orphans and outcasts in the late 80's / beginning of the 90's, so, stealing was a LOT easier than it is in modern times.
SECONDLY; Drake believes he's too fucked in the head and isn't lovable because he pushes people away for a reason so they either don't get killed because of him or because they don't want them to become a target of the bad people that hasn't been seen in the nearly three years he's lived on the streets. He's just not a good kid and he believes people could do better than him if they want to take in Drake. Drake STILL grieves and hates himself for supposedly being the one to finish off his parents murder, so he still is scared he'll end up killing someone just out of trying to protect himself.
Drake actively steals from other Misfits members at this point because he doesn't even see them as family or allies, the only ones he leaves alone are the ones he knows are younger than him (mainly the kids under 11/10), otherwise his actions are fair game for the Misfits which end up either A. getting into arguments of who stole from who, or B. Drake is your main culprit because he got caught a couple times with the hand down the cookie jar so to speak. So, they immediately point the finger and ofc Drake denies, denies, denies.
So; his actions warrant him to believe he's not exactly 'top kid model' for people to adopt him. Plus, he's gotten to the point now where Benjamin will actively start kicking Drake out of the Misfits as a punishment (not that he gives a shit anymore since he's found the abandoned office building). Another issue that he has is that he's got NO respect for authority since said authority in the past had abused him and made him hate the system. Because of the actions of the Orphanage when he was just nine / ten, he hates ANY and ALL adults that he comes into contact with. Muses that Drake interacts with that are adults who aren't quite close to Drake yet get this treatment of "your my enemy, fuck off." type of deal. Adults HURT him. They took his family away from him. He gets notified three weeks later in the hospital that he's going to be sent to a foster home and he's barely had time to grieve his loss.
Once sent to this facility, the adults there (again the fucked-up system) don't give him time to grieve much less understand WHAT was wrong with him and why he believed he killed his mama and dad. His innocence DIED at ten years old when he spent the first time alone on his tenth birthday crying his eyes out when he realizes no one is going to help or save him. No matter how many times he prayed, no matter what 'supernatural' being is out there, nothing came to help him which is why the Misfits when they came when they did was his ONLY answer and he craved people who were just like him in a way, only to find out WHOOPS it's still a fucked up system and the older teenagers there are fucked in the head with their own issues and they take it out mainly on everyone there, so now drake hates teenagers and adults believing they're all the same.
If someone WANTS to try and take Drake in, they're going to have to understand he's lived almost THREE years in the Misfits where bad behavior was essentially never punished, so Drake doesn't give a shit what he does and what he says. He's a bad mouthed and disrespectful kid whose only coping mechanism is his underage tendencies of again drinking and smoking (he'll try to hide it sometimes from your muse if he feels like it's going to get taken away) and his 'best friend', a stuffed dragon toy that he stole from a kid in the orphanage a couple years back and just like his scarf he is DEATHLY defensive of that thing.
TLDR since I know I rambled a lot: Drake got fucked over by the system and adults and the Misfits haven't given him any positive room for growth so he says and does what he wants MAINLY without consequences because he'll hurt people who try to stop him too. He's shanked a few adults with his powers in the past for stopping him from surviving and stealing. So everyone is essentially his enemy now and if by some miracle you have Drake become docile towards your muse, he WILL be clingy and overprotective of the ONE good thing he's got in the life of shit he's lived.

Im reading kill your ego right now and ill admit im a bit biased because John and Roxy are my favorites of all the human kids but I just have to know your thoughts on John Lalonde!!
HEHEHE don't tell the others but john lalonde might be my favorite of the kye kids hehehe
my DARLING little dark academia boyo. it's especially fun thinking about him at the moment because i'm in the middle of a homestuck reread with some friends and it's really reminding me of all the similarities between john and rose in the early acts. the way they both misrepresent and resent their parents for the interests they share (or don't share) and the way they try and avoid their dumb lame parents and all their lovey dovey shit
so it's fun taking john and giving something really to complain about and avoid. we take away the self-loathing and (psychotic) depression/chucklevoodoo influence that the egberts are cursed with and we replace it with a superiority complex and a whole lot of pretentiousness. john lalonde is an incredibly proud academic and scholar and you WILL know that he's an intellectual if it's the LAST THING HE DOES!!!
now, john's main problem with mom, as we'll see later in the fic, isn't that he thinks she's being passive aggressive with him, because i think that is honestly a very rose-specific result of her capacity to overthink. he's just honestly disappointed with her. as with all of the lalondes, john goes through the parentification that mom lowkey pushes all of her kids through by neglecting them emotionally, and he takes it pretty hard. he's overwhelmed by the endless attention, he's walking on tiptoes because he never knows when some new ridiculous thing is going to happen, and he can't even get space because who KNOWS what will happen to her and the house if he tries to stay away for an entire week???? and because he's so combative, he's incredibly loud and open about how it's affecting him. he is ready to trauma dump within a moment's notice about his mom's alcoholism, his mom's love bombing, his mom's flaws in general
though of course, he doesnt have any, no, he's perfect 🥰 HE does everything right its just everyone else thats wrong!!! and that's another point of conflict between him and everyone. his mom is into science and fantasy and literature, sure, but not the RIGHT kinds, because john's into the right kind and everyone should be into sci fi like he is, duh. both he and rose actually dabble in different types of reading and writing in this verse, but clearly HE'S the literary genius since HE reads all the good smart books while she reads a whole lot of dumb books that only horny nerd girls like 🙄 and he clearly sees jade and dave as on a lower level to him and takes every chance he can to try and 'assist' them because they're too dumb and naive to take care of themselves. lucky them, though, because they actually get to be kids, and he wants to protect their innocence just as much as he wants to protect his own status and reputation
so! at the end of the day, he's pretty much a rich boy who had to grow up too fast and is incredibly bitter of that fact, but he won't let that bitterness get in the way of all the interests and people he's so incredibly passionate about. i think john egbert is kinda aimless in a lot of ways (like we don't even really know what he wants to do when he grows up) and while i don't think john lalonde has decided a career just yet, he's someone who is constantly working on some sort of creative project for himself and can easily imagine himself in quite a few different paths for life. i think he's full of love and the capacity for empathy but struggles to access it as he drowns in his frustration over the life he feels trapped in. he's incredibly sensitive which is why we see him flying off the handle so often because he's got such a delicate little ego that feels threatened so often (god does johnny have npd i think he does rip)
and i think he dearly dearly dearly loves his mother as every lalonde child does (not that he openly shows it, which of course he's going to regret with EVERYTHING he has) and he will utterly be in PIECES when she dies. he's a mama's boy through and through but he doesn't want to come across as one, he wants people to see him as a respectable and independent bachelor but he doesn't want to show weakness either. he wants to be a leader (because his mom is a leader!!) but honestly he's still the pushover we know and love and he's constantly at the whims of his mother, especially physically, because he's such a cute lil proper boy haha i always imagine him with like cute styled hair and stiff lil preppy outfits and thin wiry glasses (if he even wears glasses, i love the thought of him getting pushed into either wearing contacts or fully just already having some bonkers corrective surgery done on him already)
and hes SUCH A CUTIEEEEEEEE I CANT WAIT TO SHOW HIM OFF MORE WHEEEEEEE

I remember having this lil hc that Drasna kinda raised Diantha when Dia just became champion and it's all soft and all but imagine that in the villain au tho
Fourteen year old Dia, in her own private room in the league, the day was over and she was tired as fuck, and Drasna is there helping her put some ointment on the burn scars on her back, and Drasna's tracing out the cursive C engraved on Dia's back so gently, afraid that she might hurt her, and then she hears Diantha cry, asking "Drasna.. why are people so mean..?"
Drasna didn't know, or rather she's not sure what kinda answer Diantha wanted, but, Dia is a smart kid yknow, even at a tender age of fourteen she knows a lot abt everything, and it's quite telling that she taught herself those things. So she sighed, taking Dia's shirt and helping her put it on, "I've no idea, my dear," she quietly said, pulling Diantha close to her after she's done dressing up, "perhaps they're just greedy, perhaps they didn't get the attention they wanted, perhaps they're just.. like that." She sighed, she wasn't good with all this, then she says, "but, I know that you're better than them, my angel. One day I'm sure that you'll be the light in this world filled with darkness, and then with the help of your friends, you'll defeat all the bad people." And hey, that made Diantha smile, and for Drasna that was enough, then Drasna was telling her that she might even become smth like a hero.
"like LucarioMan?" Diantha asked, wide eyed innocence, and Drasna chuckled at that, Dia always loved those cheesy action movies.
"no, you'll be better than LucarioMan." Then she kissed Dia's head, bidding her goodnight, and she left to head to her own room
But yknow, Drasna already having that sinking feeling after that tho, there was a glint within Diantha's eyes, cyan spirals swirl within the once warm sky blue eyes, and Drasna didn't like it. But she decided to ignore it for now, Diantha was still a child, she was just a scared little girl who just broke free from an abusive household, she was still getting used to being treated like an actual person, Drasna shouldn't even overthink abt that.
Then years passed, Diantha was eighteen, and the signs were starting to show. How anti social she was, how observant she was, how for some reason she knows a lot about people that messed w her or the league. But everything was okay, well Drasna likes to believe it is, until one of her friends, a psychic who was known to foresee the future, came to her
"our champion.. there's something wrong with her. She will cause eternal darkness in our world."
But Drasna didn't want to believe it, "that can't be. That must be a lie. I know some of you don't like Diantha, but this has gone too far."
"this isn't a lie, Drasna. Diantha will doom us all. That child will cause the ruin of this world, and she'll recreate it in her own image. She has to be stopped before it's too late."
And shit man that feeling was stirring up within her again, but she so desperately denied it, "no, nothing is wrong with our champion, nothing is wrong with my daughter. I raised her well, I didn't raise her to be like the people she hates, I raised her better than that."
And the psychic sighed, knowing they couldn't win this arguement, "if you will not heed my warning, so be it. Let your daughter kill us all."
Imagine how much that'd fuck her up tho, cause like, she really believed there's nothing wrong w Diantha, but there is, and she became a bit paranoid that she always made sure Diantha was being treated right by everyone she comes across w, lest they pull the trigger and Diantha actually starts to be the catalyst of eternal darkness that the psychic had warned her of
And now present time, imagine how broken she'd feel knowing what happened in Unova, knowing all the things Diantha had done, and her daughter is there standing before her, standing before her elites, body covered in gashes and bruises and her clothes were stained with blood. Then there's that manic look in her eyes, glowing the brightest cyan hue they've ever seen, and she's there, dragging herself towards them, choking out a sob, but that sordid smile was still on her face
"Drasna.. am I a hero now?" She asked, coughing up blood, reaching out to her, "I'm.. I'm purging this world of all the bad people. The weak, the broken, the ones who aren't fit to live in our world.. am I a hero now, mom?" And God that fucked her up so fucking much, seeing Diantha still blinded by her belief that what she's doing is right, that it's her Arceus given right to be the world's hero, to be the world's salvation, but she wasn't
Diantha wasn't destined to be a hero, and it broke Drasna to know that no matter how much love she gave Diantha, it wasn't enough to get rid of the darkness within her, that she ended up becoming the reason their world is falling apart, she became the villain of the story instead.

Can I ask something? Is it wrong for me to like both book and show Helaena? We barely get anything of her in the books. I read one of your post and I didn't know that Helaena is bipolar coded. She seems kinda like me a little closed off, doesn't have many friends.
I don't like the way they made the greens. Otto is same like in the books. Alicent is made to be victim in the show, a woman who doesn't care about her children, this child bride which is not true. She is scheming, intelligent woman who cares about her children and hates Rhaenyra. They water down her character to this fearful girl. I prefer book Alicent due to these facts.
Although Daemon is made to this villain who killed his first wife which never happened, never loved Laena and didn't care about his daughters, I found it very insensitive when the show creaters made Daemon's and Rhaenyra's marriage the next day after Laenas' funeral. Daemon loves his family, he loved Laena, he loved his children, he would never hurt Rhaenyra. When we consider that when Laena was pregnant with a son, Daeman flew to get her the best Maestar he could which just shows how much Daemon loved Laena.
I wish they made Laena and Rhaenyra interact, because, despite the show telling us that Alicent and Rhaenyra love each other, the books show us that actually Rhaenyra and Laena had a loving relationship and that is the reason why Rhaenyra wanted to marry her sons to Laenas' daughters.
Another point I would like to make is that the way they aged up some of the characters in quite silly. It would have been better if they aged the adults by 6 years and Rhaenyra by 4.
I also wish that had gotten more of Harwin and Rhaenyra and were given Corly's relationship with his brother. I don't like the change that Vaemand was made to be his brother and not nephew like in the books. They also did a terrible Jon at making the greens simpathetic. The only innocent greens are Helaena, her Children Maelor, Jahaerys and Jahaera. Also I wish that in the books Alicent had married of Jacaerys and Helaena.
I wish we had gotten more of Harwin x Rhaenyra, Rhaenyra x Laena, Laena x Daemon.
I apologize for my long ask and for the gramatical errors. I hope I'm not annoying.
You're not being annoying and I can read your ask just fine.
Helaena isn't bipolar-coded. People apply autism more than anything else. And which post of Helaena are you referring to?
And no, it's not morally bad to like Helaena of HotD, as in you are not a bad person for liking the HotD Helaena more. It's fine that the reason why a person would like her was that they wrote more for her, full stop, because in a sense it makes sense.
However, the issues with how and what specifically they decided to write for her are what bothers me. They try to make it seem like she's actually moving the plot forward or doing anything other than saying words or that her words at all drive others to actually do things in order for them to have any affect on the plot/events happening, but without her visions, the show and story remain the same.
Her visions rather nudge the fourth wall by inviting the audience to note how she is seeing her entire family's downfall while being largely ignored by said family. She's hugged, ignored, indulged, and viewers feel bad for her, they go "awww" for her, they bemoan how Alicent actually harms her more than takes care of her because Alicent herself cannot understand either of their silent grievances in full.
But do we really know who "Helaena" is, what she thinks about her brothers and sister and parents, and the situation? How she moralize or assess others' actions and her own in relation to them? Aside from being a mom and even that, we only see images of her kids next to her and her asking where they are. And did we ever see her ride Dreamfyre, connect with this dragon, show who she is in relation to her Targ heritage, or even how much she feels connected to that? And does the show provide context for that? How did she transition into becoming an active mother in her kids' lives away from the bugs?
She's basically an "odd" accessory in the story for the writers to communicate an AESTHETIC of prophecy. For me, as I note her characterization thus far, she's not compelling, exciting, inspiring, or at the very least an active participant. And I mean pre-war. This is the time that people should be presented as themselves, not during a high-stress climax!
The show provides very little-to-none of that because the writers/showrunners didn't think these were "that" important, that it's all about the war and Helaena does near-nothing in the canon story anyway...but their job was to present rounder characters, so...
Meanwhile, the war would have had so much more an emotional effect the more human we make its participants and victims! The war did not have to be THE story--it was the result of what happened before and the climax of the Targ succession crisis.
I would assume that they felt that they had to make focus on the war or not make fuller, rounder characters because they read the Dance account in F&B, saw that the maesters, Gyldayn, and everyone who provided reports to be recorded...saw how biased or contradictory or plain unclear and ambiguous some reports were...saw that even questioning them for a minute, and then thought they should just stick to that the maesters/Gyldayn thinks happened while making the greens more sympathetic or cooler just to invite audiences to like them more and feel the two sides are more "even".
Back to Helaena, yes, even without the neurodivergence that HotD made for her character, Helaena seemed to have little to no real companions in the original story:
It's likely that she felt more comfortable alone with her ladies and waiting, and it is also possible that this is untrue because those women/girls would have to be there by Alicent's observation and approval. These ladies also would accompany her with the first purpose of getting in good with the greens on orders from their parents/father. But why not show that?!
The Targs already keep most of their care and focus on family members, like most houses do. And during Viserys' time, there were only a few Targs for Rhaenyra to grow up around and influence her development. However, the person themselves seemed to allow her much more room to be confident in her right to interact with others by not keeping her so under lock and key or Andal-demure. (Viserys, Aemma [an Arryn, but with a Targ mom and married/cousins with a Targ and kept close], even Daemon). Alicent is neither Aemma nor a happier Viserys (Viserys when Aemma was alive). She is an Andal noblewoman devoted to the Faith religion and nonTarg practices and Andal social roles/behaviors, which she likely believed to be just, in themselves, correct and good for her children to grow into to be both "good" and competent enough in the roles she and other nobles expect of their peers/royal superiors. Helaena, therefore, would have a different treatment from Alicent than Rhaenyra from Aemma. Helana doesn't have much of Viserys. Rhaenyra had a fuller Viserys, Daemon, and Aemma for that necessary cultural/philosophical/historical Valyrian/Targ contrast to the Andal/Faith influence and actors. Therefore, Alicent's bid to make Helaena more the Andal sort of woman who more placidly keeps out of politics (the least directly as possible) and more focus on child-rearing or quiet/indoor habits (sewing) inevitably makes Helaena more isolated. This is a story about women, a woman's interests, etc.
Family first. I talked generally, but even more specific to the greens and how they are different/more extreme, Helana would be expected to support Aegon as a wife AND for his claim by being mostly out of the way unless it's to calm him down...and do we even know how often she did that, to repeat myself? Why should she have to? Why can't Aegon learn self-control? Anyway, this means that she's not encouraged to make real friends and have intimacies with them unless directed to, with a specific person(s). At least as I weigh in Alicent's priority to seat Aegon, which existed and had an active plan even before Helaena was ever born, so Helaena would have figured into Alicent/Otto's plans even as a baby, which means she's known nothing really like Rhaenyra's less rigid childhood. The life of a married woman can be lonely even with ladies-in-waiting circumstantially. Why not show that?
As for everything else, yes, I agree for the most part. I wonder, though, what "sympathetic" is supposed to mean for us all sometimes? We mean "deserving of sympathy", yes, and do we mean "deserving of sympathy" = "the most victimized" or "the people doing the least bit of wrongdoing"? Or do we mean "I relate to that specific negative experience"? When and how does it have both of these meanings? Might be nitpicking, but idk.

Welcome back to the Jyamato Grand Prix!
Joining us today is Buffa, God of All Jyamato! And boy is he mad~! Kamen Riders beware. This bull's gonna ran through the China shop that is your lives~!
...in theory, at least :3
Spoilers, I guess...
-Where is the Fox Man?
-Sara-neesan...
-She truly remembers nothing about what happened to her brother.
-Oh fuck, Kyuun!
-Oh fuck, John and Ben! Hell yeah!
-"Everything's different again... even you, Neon."
-Holy shit
-Kurama really went there, didn't he?
-That fucker.
-Beroba offers you more battle.
-"The answer's obvious. I'm gonna win again."
-"And?" Holy shit, dude.
-Chirami's still got reality TV brain.
-Speaking of which, I hear another Hollywood writer's strike is on the horizon, so... I hope you 2000s kids are ready for an all new CN Real block.
Chirami: "No no no, you don't get it! It'd be fantastic for ratings~!"
Tsumuri: "...ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?"
Chirami: "Now, I realize that nobody's got a chance in hell against Buffa, but that'll just add to his allure as an unbeatable God! People will wanna lay him out~! And that means people will be tuned in from all across space and time for when he inevitably bites the dust~!"
Tsumuri: "Two thousand years worth of contestants, quite literally innumerable innocent people, and my little brother fucking died because of you people."
Chirami: "Business expenses~!"
-Letting the mask slip right off, huh?
-I miss you, Giroli.
-Don't you diss my girl like that, you weasel.
-Yeah that's what happens when you try to play god, Admin Man.
-Ah, yep. Arranged date.
-Gonna be real Neon, I don't think this is going well.
-Oh shit, the boys!
-There's something so funny about Ben just saying "Ojou-sama" among the rest of his dialogue.
-I appreciate these subs also applying to English dialogue, that's very considerate.
-"Nooooo... I'm sorry :c"
-White Tiger, Black Panther. Welcome back to the Desire Grand Prix.
-Er... well, I suppose that's just a name now.
-"Whoooooo...?"
-My heart breaks for Miss Navigator.
-OH FUCK BEN
-Buffa, you leave that beautiful man alone.
-"Go home, little kitty."
-Yeah, I kinda gave up my "name" basis with Buffa, in case you haven't noticed.

-Tom too, that was amazing
-Here they are! The Riders!
-Double Beat!

-Beroba Jumpscare.
-"Oh! You forgot this, honey~!"
-Neon's misery swells once more.
-"I can't wait to watch you cry in 4K, Na-Go~!"
-Takahashi, you are just beating on the poor girl, huh?
-Kyuun appears!
-"Forget about your lives as Riders. That's the only mercy I can offer you."
-Neon's resolve has never gone away.
-"You can be whoever you want... in the future!"
-Neon, 3,033 AD.
-Oh fuck, a Ninja!
-Ninja Doggo!
-Buffa killed Eitoku!
-Er, excuse me... Retired.
-Victory Royale.
-"...we're completely foxless... piece of shit would be our only chance."
-"Ukiyo Ace-sama..." :(
"Pwease pwease pwease!"
Ziin: L + Ratio, you fell off, cringe, fail. ...that's the ancient slang from this era, right?
Kekera: No no, sonny. You don't get it. He's an old man, we never get slang. Let me try something he'll definitely understand. Buzz off.
-Oh
-Okay, thanks Ziin.
-He's based now.
-"Yo, Game Master."
-Hello, Buffa. ...I can't believe I'm saying this, but you have my permission to do what you want to the Game Master. I'm sick of these people's bullshit too.
-No shade towards Yamazaki-san, of course <3
-"The only Riders left."
-"No fighting :<"
-"YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTH, WOMAN! It's my time."
-Yoshitsugu Matsuoka and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, together at last.
-Faito!
-Fever Zombie!
-Tsumuri's just so done with all this crap.
-Buffa's in the middle of his Turbo Mecha Sonic arc.
-Speaking of which, I hope I get to see the SMBZ reboot's third episode sometime soon, I've been waiting years to see Metallix return.
-Not even a dent has been made in Buffa's armor from all that fantastic technology.
-"This is the Jyamato God's world."
-I'll be real, I'd have given Tsumuri like ten super forms by now. I can't guarantee it'd be a good watch at that point, but hey I'd be happy.
-Boom! Laser Victory!
-An unkillable zombie! Don't that feel familiar?
Chirami: No! No, wait, please, I... We can make a deal! If you spare my life, I'll give you a planet! Three planets! Two and a half?
Buffa: You just went down.
Chirami: I'm a haggler...?
-As needlessly cruel as Buffa, he's at least got one point from me for one reason.
-Recognizing he benefitted from that corrupt system and realizing that it only worked out for him because it worked out so terribly for everyone else.
-There's your little bro, Tsumuri.
-And Glare2 is out of the battle!
-Oh shit, there he is! Fox Jesus~!
-"No, no no, no no no NO! How dare you?!"
-He's back!
-"I'm a ghost. ...or to be accurate, a kitsune."
-Boost! And... Magnum!
-Ready... Fight!
-"You don't mean shit to me anymore."
-"Yeah? Well, me neither."
-Desire Royale.
-Tsumuri has awoken.
-Oh fuck, that's a new rider! ...OH FUCK SARA-NEESAN
-Is that a badger? Er, wait no, she'd be an otter like Tycoon...
-Hang on, lemme look something up...
-John and Ben's Rider forms are called "Garun" and "Lancer", respectively. I feel cucked not seeing them as Riders. ...maybe they didn't wanna dig through the prop closet for them.
-Beagle Eitoku, or... rather, Nagayama was called "Groovy". ...that's cute, I'll admit. ...I forget, do the participants name their Rider forms themselves?
-Pretty okay episode overall though, I give it a 7.2/10 for Rider Revival Episode Standards. ...that's still a C- by American School Standards, but it's a solid C-. (meaning, I liked all the stuff with Buffa and Neon and Tsumuri makes me sadge but in like a good way.)

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to paint as much the past year, but I still draw, and I enjoy watching people paint :DD Hm,, I mean there is the painter Albert Bierstadt, I absolutely love his paintings, but I don't really have a "deep meaning" with them, they just fill me with a lot of awe and joy :)) But his paintings definitely inspired me (still do) when I was younger, and they actually encouraged me to start photography years ago lmao. The same is with Oswaldo Guayasamín, I don't really have any "deep meaning" with them, but I grew up with his paintings due to my ma's family, so I enjoy looking at his works, they remind me of family, in an odd way. mwah♡

in my opinion, now it is more than fair and on time~ almost instantaneous~ <333 I know, dear. it remains to be seen whether you are lying down because you are conserving energy or because you are easily exhausted hwhwhhw /ht /affectionate
hooray, soon our communication will reach a point where we will share a sense of humor~ finally, you won't be able to brush me off with "we're not close enough" anymore, because even if a common sense of humor doesn't give you intimacy, then you're obviously a biorobot and I'm not sure if I want to let kids communicate with such a pamna,,,, /t /j /nsrs

The League 🤔
I've been wanting to do this for a while but I haven't gotten around to it with everything I got going on. And good lord this isn't going to be a popular opinion, but I'm at a point where I don't care. I just want to predict what's going to happen based off of what we know.
I got into a recent back and forth with someone about the "Shigaraki as the final villain" argument, and quite frankly, nothing that has been brought to the table has changed my mind on that front. He won't be, because as he is in the story right now, he's just not final villain material (a thread talking about that in that link). I still stand by that.
But one of the counter arguments to suggest that he'd manage to fight his way out of AFO's control was that he has strong convictions tied to his and the LOV's goals, and that he'd hold onto his hatred enough to keep fighting for "that". And well, given that in the text it's literally stated that the more he hates, the weaker he gets against AFO, I'm not even gonna bother diving into the "letting go of hatred to set himself free" argument. We have the solution in the dialogue of the characters, there's no point in debating what we literally already know for a fact. What I DO want to tackle is this idea that the LOV have goals to work toward, because personally I feel like that's romanticizing what they're actually doing into something more grand and spectacular than what's actually happening. That is what I'm gonna counter below the cut:
"The LOV have goals to work toward." Do they?
I mean, what goals do we have, honestly:
We have Touya, whose goal was to meet his end in a blaze of glory alongside his dad. So basically, to die. Yes, you can say he was trying to bring his dad to justice, but look at the response to the exposure we literally HAVE. In the end Endeavor would have just been upheld as the hero who was killed by a villain. I'm sure Touya to some extent understands this, and understands that (in HIS mind) his family would go on resenting him for killing their dad. But he would be dead, so he wouldn't care. He wanted his dad to see him, and that was his way of making sure he did. Also like...nobody in the Todoroki family is condemning Touya for being angry. None of them. Shouto didn't say "get over being mad at dad", he said "Stop taking innocent lives and take your rage out on US". Shouto is the one who said "he is me." Nobody in the Todoroki family is saying Endeavor should be shielded from the hatred, resentment, and criticism, from the family or the public.
Toga, who "wants to live free" and be herself, but even she can't voice how that looks beyond the small community of acceptance she received from the LOV. The LOV were a small glimpse at what she wants, but seeing her recent attempts at achieving the same thing with the hero kids, she still doesn't even know what "free" looks like. She still can't express it without creeping the other party out.
Twice? Not that it matters because he's gone now, but I didn't see him voice any goals. He was just happy being with the LOV. They could have planned anything, and he would have gone along for the ride. They could have run away and lived in a forest somewhere, and he would have just gone along with it. And before people say that they all felt that way, show me where? Lol.
Compress is just living up to his lineage in a way and following up on ideals carried through generations. Kinda just letting Shigaraki, Toga, Touya, and Spinner take the reins in getting there. But really didn't contribute much beyond just being a warm body there.
There's Spinner, who hasn't evolved beyond following people he idealizes and puts on pedestals. First Stain, now Shigaraki. And no, there is no framing to suggest it's a good thing that he's doing this. It's a flaw that is waiting to be addressed in his arc.
Then we have Shigaraki. Who, the very first thing he was called out for (by a scared Izuku at the mall) was having no conviction or ideals. Shigaraki came to a conclusion (a world without All Might), which actually was something that produced a vision to work toward, but then not long after that abandoned even THAT. All Might retired, the symbol was gone, and the frailty of their world was exposed, but the LOV still existed and were still suffering. Shigaraki was still left with unaddressed anger, resentment, grief, and sadness (which shows you exactly WHY everything he is doing is not the solution). He went from having a specific idea for what kind of world he wanted to exist, to just--wanting their world and everything in it to come crashing down. He didn't evolve his convictions into something intricate and grand, he devolved them into the opposite. Yes, it's reactive. Yes, his complaints are valid, I'm not discounting that, in fact, that's a different discussion altogether. But people continue to think that everything that happened in MVA was positive development for him, starting with the "Why not destroy it all?" speech. And it I fail to see how. Was it development? Absolutely, it moved his arc forward, got him closer to the conclusion he'll get at the end of the story. And it was necessary for this story to be told, obviously. But was it positive for him? Hmmm, not sure I believe that. I don't see it.
So.....tell me exactly what goals we're talking about? What exactly is AFO standing in the way of, in terms of what the LOV is trying to achieve? He's not stopping Touya from completing his suicide mission, he's not stopping Toga from "becoming the people she loves", and he's certainly not stopping Spinner from worshipping the ground Shigaraki walks on. All of these "goals" the individual League members have point in the same direction AFO is heading toward. And currently you don't see any of the LOV members fighting or going against AFO at all--who btw aren't really all that in the dark about AFO and Shigaraki's situation, as they've seen and been horrified by what they saw in that cave. They're not fighting against him because....everything they're all doing points in the same direction.
With the state the League is in right now, they're all operating on their own individual agendas. This is clear. They're not coordinating any plans together, they're not forming teams to combat anything.
We literally SEE the individualistic mindsets they're stuck in through Toga's actions at the beginning of this arc. She didn't pull Izuku through that portal with the intent of just fighting and killing him. She pulled him through as a last ditch attempt to reach an understanding and maybe find some sort of answer to her question that she's been asking since Twice died:
Tumblr media
She wanted an answer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She pulled him through to talk. Obviously it didn't work, it was never going to. Izuku hasn't thought hard enough about her, had enough one-on-one time with her to deep dive into her mindset, and he's got his thoughts elsewhere too much to talk it out in their setting. Plus, there's the obvious narrative issue that she's not his villain ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .
But Toga pulling him through at the last second was showing just how much she's focusing on herself right now.
The LOV trio are all operating on their own self-interests. You could actually split the LOV in half and see how differently the six members were operating:
Twice, who just wanted to be with the League, regardless of what was going on
Compress worrying about keeping everyone together during MVA, while Shigaraki trudged on ahead, worried about keeping everyone together during the war arc as well, while Toga split for Ochacko, and even sacrificed himself so they could all get away
Spinner, following Shigaraki around during MVA, trying to keep everyone together during the war arc while Toga split, continuing to get lost in his idealization of Shigaraki in the current arc and now *gestures toward current Spinner*
Then compare to the trio:
Touya, who kept his identity a secret the whole time, who constantly split off to "recruit", gather intel on other people where it might come in handy later to bring his dad down crashing and burning
Toga, again I bring this up a lot, but constantly wanting validation and attention from Ochacko, Tsu, and Izuku--how does that align with anything the LOV are working at? (Tomura even said he wouldn't destroy the things she likes, butttt he tried to kill Izuku like a bunch lolol)
Then Shigaraki--who, yes wants to destroy the corrupt society they're in because it brings about its own villains, causes pain, ignores those who need help etc. etc., but he also has an entire other set of issues completely separate from the "lost child wandering the streets and being ignored"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His family. How many times does he remember the pain associated with them, with losing them. How many times do we see the Tenko that existed before his family died to represent his honest thinking?
And, well, Shigaraki's family has nothing to do with the League. Just, another notion that the LOV aren't all in sync and working to rebuild some "fixed" version of what they're living in now.
So back to Shigaraki just magically becoming himself again (which, I've already explored why that ain't happenin)--what is is exactly that AFO is keeping from happening? Again, he's not keeping Touya from his plans, or Toga from hers. Does he view them as equals? Nah. Not even a little. But idk what Shigaraki would be fighting for when the LOV aren't even fighting against AFO themselves, as in, they don't view it as a fight TO fight for.
At this point, literally the only thing AFO is "in the way of" in terms of the LOV and what they're doing, is Shigaraki being himself. That's the obstacle. The rest of the League are all also operating on an individual agenda that doesn't have much to do with each other, or anybody else.
Again, this isn't to say they don't care about each other. Like....I'm not here to throw shade at anybody's interpretation of their friendships or anything. But the romanticizing and woobifying of what they're actually trying to do is getting in the way of analyzing what's actually going on.
You know, people on the other side are probably suffering too (there are several canon examples actually!), but, they'll die if the LOV win. This isn't a fight for making things better for people in general who are suffering. It's a reaction to their own unaddressed pain and suffering, it's revenge, and anybody who gets in the way is going down.
And that's why saving is so important. Because if the LOV win, they still lose. (expanded on there) They're still miserable, they're still ignored by the people they wanted attention from. Nothing gets better. That's why their solution is not a revolution or a positive thing they can continue to pursue, it's not even remotely framed that way. It'll only hurt them more, and--once again, that's why being saved by the "other side" (heroes!) is so important for them to get what they need.

☕️ post-war hawkeye
Thanks for the ask!
I cannot stand the idea of Hawkeye retiring from his surgery career to be a small town doctor. As far as I'm concerned Hawkeye's post canon character arc should be getting back into surgery and reclaiming the career that he’s described as the only thing he ever wanted to do with his life.
I mentioned in the last ask that I'm not sure what the intent was with that in canon, it probably wasn't meant to be this tragic, but imo it's pretty easy to draw some angsty connections to explain why Hawk quits surgery. Maybe someday I'll write a fic about this, but til then here's meta I guess.
SO I think it comes back to Letters and Hawkeye questioning his role as a surgeon in a war zone, equating it to weapons repair, and saying he can't deny it and he can't live with it. In Letters the one thing that keeps him going is saving an innocent life, a Korean kid who presumably won't go on to kill more people.
Then, yk, in the finale he feels responsible for the death of an innocent baby. So that kind of rips away the one ray of hope in his existence as part of the army. It counteracts his ability to save people, makes it feel worthless and futile, and leaves him with nothing but death on his hands to show for his last two years as a surgeon. So now the thought of doing it for a living fucks him up.
And my ideal post-war Hawkeye fic would be Hawkeye dealing with this and getting over it by internalizing the fact that he was essentially a victim of the draft and he did what he could in the situation he was stuck in.
Anyway aside from that, hmm.
I don't think Hawkeye would isolate himself, or if he did, it would be... bad. A huge warning sign. Hawkeye always seeks people out, he hates being alone. I think his mental health would deteriorate very quickly in isolation, and Hawkeye knows it, and if he was isolating himself I would frankly expect like, a suicide attempt to follow lol.
tbh I don’t think he would necessarily be outwardly, overtly... troubled? idk a lot is made of Hawkeye coming home broken and fucked up and depressed and miserable etc and like, yeah he had a breakdown and he’s been in a war and he’s gonna have issues about it (and like I just detailed one of those issues up there), but I think he’s actually pretty well equipped to recover and already started the process in GFA, and I don’t think he’d be completely miserable at the start, or fundamentally changed overall.
Also while I’m planning to lean into the alcoholism in my own post-canon fic if I ever get that going, I actually think canon kinda implies the opposite. First with Bottle Fatigue where he belligerently proves he can drop the booze and is also the only one who worries about it, and then not drinking, or at least staying sober, in pretty noticeable contrast to BJ getting wasted at the farewell party, iirc.
I guess I think Hawkeye is actually pretty resilient, which is also a reason I can see him getting back into surgery once he deals with what I think is the underlying cause. His emotional vulnerability makes him more susceptible to the trauma of the war, as we see when he’s the character who has a climactic mental breakdown, but I think it also makes him more capable of healing.
Like whereas I envision BJ being a huge mess for years to come, eg, because he doesn’t really do self reflection or therapy, I see Hawkeye coming out the other side relatively soon (months, rather than years) and picking his life back up where he left off.
I think that’s also supported by a lot of what Sidney says to him in the various Hawkeye therapy episodes, eg suggesting that Hawkeye’s intense negative emotional reactions are a sign that he’s emotionally healthy in Hawk’s Nightmare, and again the general theme of “going insane in a war zone is a sane reaction.”
I also disregard Alan Alda pushing 50 while playing a 30 year old lol. I buy that he has greying hair now, that’s a fine detail, but I’m not really into taking every flaw and inadvertant side-effect of a long running tv show as diegetic canon, I’m more of a ‘just take it in the spirit intended and suspend your disbelief sometimes’ type, at least when it comes to Mash. So I’m not that into the idea of Daniel Pierce seeing Hawkeye and going omg he’s aged 20 years in 2 years what did the war do to him???? it feels a little over the top to me. Same way I just ignore that Radar is balding at 19.
I lean sliiiightly towards BJ keeping in touch with Hawkeye as opposed to detaching himself completely, because I really like the idea of BJ getting as weird about Hawkeye as he was about Peggy lol, but I also like the idea of BJ’s finale promises that they’ll keep in touch being as empty as his promise that a kid’s leg will be fine in that one episode. Tough call. If he did keep in touch Hawkeye would respond, and if he didn’t I could see Hawkeye not sending letters first. He does seem to have a bit of a fatalistic view of long distance relationships lol.
I’m a big fan of Hawkeye and Charles staying in touch and visiting each other, possibly working together. I think they could have a great post-war dynamic. Also a big fan of Hawkeye and Trapper reconnecting. I don’t think Hawkeye and Margaret would stay friends (I say this despite them being my favourite platonic relationship on the show lol) but they’d send each other yearly Christmas cards. Klinger would keep in touch. I’m ambivalent about everyone else.
And I’ve mentioned this a little bit but I like the idea of Hawkeye getting more political rather than dropping it after the war. He’s talked about how great protesting is, he writes angry letters about societal issues, when he cares about something it translates to wanting to actively do something, and I don’t see that as just a war-time coping mechanism. If he was a real person who knows how his politics would e or devolve lol, but as a fictional construct he’s essentially defined as a politically aware bleeding heart with socialist tendencies in comparsion to everyone else on the show so I see no reason to assume that would go away.
Oh also finally in theory I kind of dig the idea of Hawkeye/some dude he didn’t meet in Korea. I like Hawkeye/Trapper post-war endgame a lot, but I think like... thematically Hawkeye getting together with some guy unassociated with the war would be the most fitting post-canon relationship.
send me a ☕️ and a topic and i’ll talk about how i feel about it

Lone fae (Yandere Malleus x reader)
Tumblr media
To my favorite lonley dragon fae happy birthday!
Malleus had been told about a fae living in a town of humans for quite some time now. At first he had become angry seeing as he was King and someone would dare ally themselves with the enemy. He'd punish them himself. As if any traitor could stand against him and live was a mistake that'd cost them their lives. He told his advisor and guardian Lilia that'd he'd be back after dealing with said traitor.
Only to get to said town and notice a woman with pointy ears, beauty beyond belief, picking berries within the forest that surrounded the town. At first he kept his composure watching for a moment maybe a bit longer considering she acknowledged his presence.
"Ah, hello sir."
She didn't know who he was? That was surprising literally everyone whose anyone knew the Fae King and would tremble at the mention of his name. Yet this naive little fae knew nothing about who she spoke to. How cute.
'A fae in the village? How strange do they not know about our hatred towards humans?'
"Hello." He had his arms crossed and came out into the open.
She noticed the ears and instantly became curious.
"Our ears are similar." She murmured it under her breath, but Malleus still heard it. She noticed his horns too and realized that she must have been a bit different since she lacked them.
'So she hasn't met her own kind before?'
That was how their first encounter went. They chatted for a little while exchanging names as Malleus wanted to test if she knew him by that but got no reaction. Malleus watched her go back all the way to her house in secret of course. From high up in the air. As soon as he saw where she lived he went back home.
'This so called "traitor" would require a bit more inquiry.'
* * *
He decided to find out himself, her background by asking a different question to gain some information.
"Y/n do you have a family?"
"Hm? I have a little brother named Aiden at home but that's about it."
"What about your parents?"
"I can't recall when I was kid all I remember was waking up in an alley with Aiden crying in my arms. There was a- .... lot of blood about the place my dress that was once white had been stained. Anything before that isn't anything I probably want to remember considering that scene alone." She trembled for a second before continuing to pick herbs and berries from bushes. Malleus sided eyed her reaction feeling slight guilt towards it.
"I see, my apologies for bringing up troublesome memories." Malleus wasn't hard of hearing considering how she paused as if she didn't want to recall the gory scene. Yet still she smiled without much effort it was small but it did make him feel some what relieved.
"It's fine your the only person I've told. No one else talks to me in town and I'm not ready to tell Aiden yet with his innocence, I'd rather not taint. He's all I've got and I don't want to lose him."
* * *
He understood quite a bit now pertaining to their situation. He had to admit though, he had become fond of the female fae. Someone so innocent and docile couldn't be a traitor. Lilia saw that the situation was taking longer than expected and decided to accompany Malleus this go around.
He wanted to see for himself if Malleus was being fooled, though he doubted it. Not only that but for the sake of his own boredom in the castle and to satiate his own curiosity.
"Y/n this here, is a comrade of mine." Malleus stood next to his comrade, a short cheerful looking child with bright magenta stripes of hair under the black side. Two pointy ears stood on the side of his head too.
She was happy to say the least to know two new similar people to her at the very least. Today happened to be the day Malleus was going to meet Aiden. She didn't mind Lilia tagging along of course.
"Lilia Vanrouge, Ms. a pleasure." He looked rather young in her opinion but his voice signaled to not be fooled by his appearance. She shook hands with the male who brought a pleasant atmosphere with him.
* * *
"So your Malleus huh? My sister speaks very fondly of you sir. She's been talking about you for centuries!" The little boy exaggerated making Malleus's eyes widen and at first he felt an overwhelming amount of happiness with how he had made a good impression.
Both him and Lilia chuckled to themselves as the girl who had been in the same room blushed furiously from embarrassment. Taking her brother by the arm she glared at him.
"Aiden you know that isn't true, you asked where I had been and I answered." She strained her voice to try and put emphasis on her truth only to receive laughter from the boy.
Lilia came up to him patting his head with a smile.
"Fondly and centuries such large words for a child so young." Lilia had felt a slight connection to the energetic youngster. He thought it'd be fun to get to know him better.
"Sis is teaching me to read and write words from the dictionary! I'm very ingenious!" He was smug about the new words he was learning with a proud smile causing Lilia to laugh.
Malleus had a smile on his face small and affectionate but a few other thoughts came up to his mind upon thinking about the boys words. He looked toward his sister who was now in the kitchen making dinner.
"Aren't there schools about here he could go to?" His concern for the child was showing.
"There are but with his ears, I'd rather not take chances until his hair grows out, not to mention his abilities are still uncontrolled, and we're kinda barely keeping this house, so school isn't much of an option at the moment." She looked down chopping vegetables but was still focused. Until her brother spoke again.
"Look I can do magic!" He was so enthusiastic, but the dread look on his sister's face said it all.
"No! Don't you dare we can't hope to fix the ceiling!" She yelled but Lilia stopped her seeing as she yelled she covered her mouth in realization.
"Worry not my dear, let me see this young lad do magic. I'll make sure he doesn't damage anything." He was calm and collected which was shocked her but she let him do as he wished.
Aiden whose excitement had been on the rise at the thought of showing someone else raised his hand and emitted a large slew of green flames rising fast. Of course it actually shocked both Lilia and Malleus to see the color itself and how big the flames he conjured were.
Lilia had regained his composure for a split second and created some wind to dispell the flames before they could reach the ceiling and burn a hole. Malleus and Lilia looked at each other knowingly for a moment before Lilia showed a smile toward the young boy with his fangs gleaming in the light.
"I see the problem your letting out all of your mana at once young one, still your mind and channel the flow to ignite a single flame." He advised carefully with hand on Aiden's shoulder.
Malleus felt as if he was watching a younger version of himself seeing his guardian teach another. The young fae had followed Lilia's teachings to a tee and a small green flame became lit in front of him.
"Sister! Sister! Did you see I got it! I did it!" He was jumping up for joy at his achievement.
"Yes I see thank you Lilia. You thank him too Aiden." She was happy to say the least, it was as if good fortune was brought with them to have met these two.
"Thank you Lilia!"
"Your welcome dear child you can learn with me anytime. You have a lot of potential that shouldn't be wasted." That made his eyes light up in pure unadulterated excitement.
"Sister did you hear that!"
"I did." She was just relieved someone could teach him besides all her past failed attempts.
"So does that mean you can use magic too then?" Malleus had wandered closer to her without her knowledge it made her flinch. Seeing the anticipation of her answer in his eyes, she answered him.
"Yes though mine's is a bit more controlled. I can conjure wind and green flames. As well as levitate a multitude of things toward me at once but that's about it. I haven't had too much time to practice." She waved her hand with a slight glow and brought a couple of ingredients in cupboards down on to the counter letting them shut on their own again.
Holding put her hand she conjured a small green flame that wouldn't cause any damage over the palm of her hand.
"Seems like your well taught." Lilia mentioned.
"That's only because before we got this house we lived in the forest and magic made things a bit easier, but otherwise while we live here we don't have a use for it. Aiden still wants to learn but my teaching can only go so far as I don't know much on the subject." She looked somewhat frustrated at her own uselessness. Malleus could tell she wasn't lying about what she could do that's for sure.
* * *
After dinner both fae left the home walking out but saying goodbye to the siblings. At first they walked away from the house, but soon to prevent from being seen by any late night walkers they teleported to the castle.
"A pair of fae with royal blood is rare. I do wonder how the both of them ended up in that human village though." Lilia started off by saying.
Green flames were the insignia to regal blood for fae even Malleus knew that fact. Known to be the most powerful of all faes. Yet two were living in a human town right within the heart of the enemy and neither knew.
"Yes but from what I've been able to tell whoever had taken care of them is probably dead. Slaughtered by humans most likely. She said she wasn't able to remember anything before that. I'm assuming her and her brother come from some line thought to have been killed when the war against the humans started." Malleus recalled all he learned about her over the past few weeks he came to know her.
"Such a shame those two don't even know their own kind. Living their life in solitude as outcasts when they could be a lot more free if they lived here." Lilia did actually feel pity for the pair of souls having grown an attachment toward the younger sibling as he had taught Malleus when he was young as well. Those days were reminiscent for him. Aiden just happened to be similar to young Malleus in that regard.
"Malleus, if any humans discover royal fae over in that village they'll be killed. It's only a matter of when." He stated that matter of factly considering he was a general during the aforementioned war and many fae had been chased out of human villages. The ones left had been unfortunate to be victims that were sacrificed.
"I know, I won't let them lay a finger on either of them. Get Silver and Sebek have the staff prepare two rooms in the castle for our guests." Malleus walked away from Lilia without a second thought after saying what he wanted done.
"I was hoping you'd say that. Seems you've gotten attached to her in a different way. Ah, I'm so glad to see you chasing after someone, it feels like ages since you've been small so long ago. I'll have little Aiden to teach all the stuff I once taught you. What a joyous occasion to think someone will finally sit on the throne next to you." Lilia smiled feeling eager and chipper at the future ahead.
He went to go get the two knights that would always await orders from their master. Skipping down the halls all the while humming an unknown tune.
* * *
Something has been different with Malleus as of today. He was fiddling with his fingers a bit more often than usual. He didn't want to meet her gaze at the time either.
"Malleus is there something wrong?" Worry laced in her tone for the man sitting next to her.
"Yes." He replied rather swiftly but ended it there.
"Would you like to tell me what about?" She at least wanted to try and comfort him however she could.
That's what made her different than most fae, most feared him, she didn't of course she and that oblivious little head of hers didn't. Before she could even grasp how much power she could have held it was taken from her.
Malleus had turned his head and looked her directly in the eye.
"You."
"Me?" She was surprised and confused about what he meant by that, lowering her head for a second to think.
Of course it didn't last long, as Malleus directed her chin to gaze at him instead of the forest soil.
"Y/n, my alluring little darling, would you do me the honor of staying with me?"
He said with a gentle smile. The proximity and his words had her face red within seconds. She still had to give him a reply and sadly she didn't want to upset him but she didn't have much of a choice.
"I'm sorry Malleus I can't. This place is all I've ever known. Going somewhere else with all that could happen, ... It's not that I don't like you but my own fears are holding me back." She was trying to come up with the right words so he'd hopefully understand.
It stung, it truly did. The rejection wasn't something he hypothesized but it was still an option. It was fine though, all would be well. That sheltered mindset of hers would just have to broken a bit. She'd come to rely on him, she'd have no other choice afterall.
She hadn't experienced much of human cruelty, he'd just have to show her how cruel they could really be and then she would have to seek his aid.
* * *
Everyone in town today had been on edge it seemed. She left Aiden at home sound asleep, while she went out to go and buy veggies and meat she couldn't get in the forest. As she walked toward a thrifter many people side eyed her. She was the only person to walk with a hood on. In fact many people generations before this one too when asked had seen her.
As she got up to the vegetable thrifter the man in front of her had scowled. She saw this but just thought he was having a bad day. That's when someone came behind her and pulled her hood down abruptly.
"A fae! A fae in the village!"
"She's the one who cursed the crops! If we kill her the curse will end!"
"Someone grab her!"
Before she knew it she ran, someone did lay a hand on her but she pushed them away with wind magic. It wasn't on purpose, but fear overtook her person and magic required self control.
She wanted to run back to her house but with how fast the mob was chasing she couldn't put Aiden at risk like that. Maybe just maybe if she went back to the forest, he'd be there. He could help her, or Lilia either would do.
* * *
She didn't see him. Maybe her words struck a cord. She should have agreed. A stupid decision on her own part, he could've probably taken them somewhere where people like her were accepted. Where magic was used and no worries to be had.
She just narrowly dodged an arrow fired at her. It seemed the mob had caught up. Turning her attention back toward their screeches, what could she do?
In a last ditch effort attempt she called his name.
"Malleus!" The crowd closing in on her arrows knocked and aimed. So this was it huh?
Suddenly something slithers around her body, her waist to be more precise and holds her in a vice grip.
A tail? Of long reach with a purple scales of a dark pigment.
Before it pulled her into the darkness of the forest behind her. Until she felt a chest that placed her gently to the ground freeing her from the grip the of the tail that had once gripped her tightly.
She saw a light emitted from where she had once been, green flames took its place in her stead.
"I do hope you'll accept my offer to stay with me now, my love." Malleus's voice brought her out of her stupor, a frown seeing her in such fear. He didn't want to go so far but he would rather have liked her to willingly agree to living with him as his Queen. She wouldn't have any worries should she live her life on the throne worshipped by everyone.
"Wait! Wait! Please let me bring Aiden I can't leave my brother behind!" She had gripped his clothing turning around desperate tears spilling.
Speaking of said boy who popped his head from behind the fae that stood in front of her, smiled and ran to hug his sister.
"Y/n! Malleus let me up on his shoulders he was so tall! Wait why are you crying?" Her brother's happiness went away for a moment at the tears he saw from his older sibling.
She was shocked, since when had he been here. He was asleep before, she was sure. It didn't make any sense.
"Aiden how, ... why are you here?"
"Lilia offered to teach me more magic! He said it was dangerous to teach me inside the house so we came out here." For a second she thought it was a dream. A bad dream turned good.
"Were you worried? Sorry, I'll tell you next time I promise." Aiden hugged her after finishing his sentence trying comfort his sister from her state of fear. It worked a little having her shoulders relax.
Malleus had stroked her head to sooth her worries as well. A small smile graced his lips at the scene before him.
"Worry not my dear, I'll accept all parts of you. Of course I'd never forget your dear brother. Will you accept my proposal now?" He was awaiting an answer, the same look in his eyes akin to when he asked if she could use magic.
"Yes I do, it was my mistake for denying your offer in the first place. I'm sorry Malleus."
He was happy that the situation had caused her to regret her answer. Of course he didn't outwardly show it. But he was internally pleased. His new queen and energetic little brother would make a wonderful addition to the Draconian line.
As they disappeared instantly to where their new home would be, Malleus left behind some what one would call fireflies by the looks of it. They were just traces of his magic to other faes. It was a calling for someone else though.
The town the two faes once called home was being destroyed as soon as they left. Screams upon screams could be heard one after another. Flames of red and orange to destroy and have no one alive to recall the prescene of two royal clan faes.
All done by three, one wise fae, and two knights that served to do everything their master asked of them. It would all be gone while Malleus would help them settle into their new lives, the one they deserved from the beginning, if humans hadn't taken it from them.

Alright so here are the hatchetmen/daddy notes, I'll go into more detail in the synopsis, but I wanna get this out for the people who need it-
They're a bunch of sleezy men, played by james, jon, and nick.
I think they're all brothers, at least they're referred to that way. Not sure if its by blood or like a brotherhood kind of way.
They keep calling the leader of this patriarchy, bob Metsker(played by Dylan Saunders) Daddy. Clearly leading up to the episode of the same name
Bob says he paid for his land with blood 👀👀
"Don't you think its time the kids move out, maybe to Clivesdale?" -Emma
"My kin, stays with their DAAADDDYYY" -Bob
Emma's mad at him, saying there's not a problems since she's not going on his property, and she's mad that they're harassing ziggs, saying what she does on her property is her business.
"What you've done with this land is an abomination!" -bob
he doesnt care about the weed being grown, he cares about the trees she chopped to make way for the weed fields
ziggs is kinda into it at first, "mad respect, save the trees!"
emmas great grand dad bought this land
bob gives one final warning to leave, but emma simply says that shes now gotta build a fence
as she walks off, bob directly quotes the judge who ordered the execution of willabella muckwab in witch in the web
"the innocent must suffer, the guilty must be punished, you must taste blood to be a man!"
starting to wonder if this is like a hatchetmen mantra or something
a few hours later, emma confesses why her weed is so good
she's a horrible farmer, in fact, her weed in high school was grown in her closet, she didn't even know to give it sunlight, she forgot to water it, the dog peed in it, but people loved it
she says the secret is she uses soil from the witchwood, that's why her weed is so good, she's convinced the soil is magic (well you're not far off there emma 👀👀)
ziggs notes that if the soils magic, the trees are probably magic, and wonders if thats why those guys were so mad they cut the trees down
Just then, they're farmhouse is broken in by the matsker clan with torches and axes
They then burry emma and ziggs with only their heads above the dirt
emma tries to plead with bob, promising 20% of their annual profit
Bob starts exposition dumping and here's the juicy good stuff.
he explains to emma that some born in this town are different.
they called it having a touch of the Gift
He clearly hates these people, calling it vile sorcery
"it is the sword duty of the hatchetmen to collect these freaks and bring them here. To be planted."
he then says something i cant quite make out "the ritual cleanses them of their dangerous flesh" i think? "and gives them a new body, of bark, and leaves! Their roots and canopies make a net to catch all that bad magic, so that it may not seep into the precious skin of anymore beautiful babies!"
"When you cut down those trees you opened the floodgates! Now every teenybopper in town is susceptible to this malady!"
(dude all im hearing is more hatchetfield witches uh yes please!)
"you took all the power built up in that soil and you smoked it!!"
anyways side note emma mentions how the magic makes everything grow bigger, faster, stronger, so that's why baby jerry grew so quickly and got so demented.
bob wants them to atone and be apart of a new crop
so i guess he wants emma and ziggs to be tree people, which is a lil weird considering, despite what I picked up from my first watch, neither of them have the gift
however if anyone were to make witch emma or ziggs content pls tag me id love that so so much 👀👀
bob then goes to destroy the weed and bury emma and ziggs but are then killed by the nighthawks
anyways that was whirlwind of an exposition/lore dump
tagging: @shhimavoidingsleep @hatchetfieldtheories @gotta-get-back-to-hatchetfield i know they're gonna wanna see this.
any other questions about this shoot me an ask. I'll try and get on those synopsis's as quick as possible and send them to those that requested it. I'll be sending in one link to perky's buds, and the other for abstinence camp, I'm separating it by story

Hey! Curiosity is killing me, so I want to ask: Do you have an unpopular opinion or something like that about T&B? It's ok if you don't want to answer!
Hi!! Thanks for the ask! :D In all honesty I don't think I have too many truly unpopular opinions or at least not many that are hot takes or anything. My criticisms and whatnot of the show and characters tend to line up with other people's in most cases. But! A few lukewarm takes I have under the cut...
-I think the biggest one is that I don't particularly like the way the fandom treats Ivan like he's a soft, innocent little baby. I relate to him a lot and I find that we're quite similar both in personality, interests, and insecurities so I always found it cool to see him grow stronger and more confident. However, I feel like a lot people lump him in with the kids due to his height and shy/insecure personality. It's weird because he's friends with Keith (and also seems to be the main one supporting/helping him and not vice versa) who is far more immature, ditsy, and childlike yet because of his looks he is seen and treated as an adult by the fandom while Ivan isn't. IVAN IS AN ADULT TOO! Us short, sensitive, baby faced adults are still adults! >:( -The first OP is greatly superior, I skip the second one every time other than on the first episode it appears on. -I feel bad for Edward. I know he did some terrible things but I don't think he's a villain like I see a lot of people portray him as. He was a kid who tried to do what he thought was right and made a mistake that ruined his life and likely left him with trauma that he's handling poorly. -I'm not really that big of a fan of Taibani. Like, I DO like them and I think they're cute but I mostly only get hyped while I'm actively watching the show since they're just there, outside of that I rarely think about them or have any strong feelings (unless it's Barnaby/Kotetsu/Yuri or Apollon Trio ships). Even if Taibani became canon I would just make my own ships anyway like Bunny/Yuri and Kotetsu/Antonio because I love my rarepairs... -Ryan is kinda boring and unlikeable in canon, I only like him when he's got 5 million headcanons slapped on him or for pairings. -Jake is the sexiest character in the whole show and no I will not be taking questions (Yuri is close second but I just love crusty men with shitty tattoos who don't know how to dress). Honestly if it weren't for the fact that he died or the fact that he threw Yuri's trauma in his face in the manga he might actually have been my favorite character. -Much like everyone else I will continue to bully him relentlessly for it anyway but... I actually like how Barnaby's empty apartment looks😐 -Virgil's story is kind of stupid as is the whole main plot of the Rising. Still love him and his movie though. -Yuri should have kept his ugly reaper outfit because it was 100% superior and cooler than the regular Lunatic suit we see now. He has a clear theme and motif going here, wtf is he supposed to be in the current version?
