xB can admit he was a bit of an idiot, it's obvious that a spellcasters book that says "secret plans" would be cursed. And now he's tied to a book. The wizard(?) told him exactly what the curse entailed, he'd be attached to the book, and he'll like that until the book is destroyed. But he can't talk to anyone like that, and no one can see him, so he will rest like a ghost, forced to watch the buildings fall around him to time.

Somewhere around his 200th year (he's lost track, really it could be anywhere between 200 to 400 years) when that book is found again, brushed off and cleaned, and put on the shelves of a bookshop that was ironically built right on top of where that wizard lived.

The bookstore is odd, with a name and an owner to match. The owner's (Keralis?) sales pitch is always "wanna buy a book?" But with those eyes it's always convincing. xB is there a while, and he's found out a few things, 1. He can move some things, small things like dust and grit, his aiming skills come in handy with shooting small pebbles at rude costumers faces. 2. The book's curse is a one time use kinda thing, seems like anyone else can read it without being tortured with eternal boredom. And three, Keralis has a boyfriend. Initially he was slightly jealous, which is stupid because he cannot even talk to someone and he's fallen for them already, but that boyfriend (Shashwam? Shashwamy?) is so gentle with his book, he keeps it in good condition too, if he wasnt basically a ghost he'd take them both to bed in an instant.

Further along xB's figured out some more things, both Keralis and Xisuma (he's pretty sure that's correct) are both immortal creatures, Xisuma being of the void and Keralis being, something. But that comes with complications, some people just dont like that they exist.

And so the bookstore is burnt down, and so is his book, he comes back to the loving world that night with searing flesh, everything's too bright and too loud and he can feel hands on him dragging him out and now he feels as if he's actually dead and everything hurts

He finds it woefully ironic that Xisuma took such careful care of the book, when destroying it breaks the curse. He has plenty of time to complain about that as he's lying in a hospital bed (which, certainly changed a lot since he was last in one, gotta say.) Not that it's Xisuma's fault, no, the guy's an absolute sweetheart for looking after it so carefully. But it is ironic.

Xisuma and Keralis are both fretting over him, despite him being a total stranger. At first, they thought he might have been a customer hiding out, or somebody that broke in. Keralis gave him a very serious talk about whether he started the fire (xB had never considered if he could start fires. Given the right circumstances, he thinks it's possible. He doesn't mention that to Keralis.)

Once it's revealed that he's 'the bookshop ghost' (as some of the customers had taken to calling him), they're even more concerned. Neither are unfamiliar with magic, but they never even realised! Xisuma is more furious than xB's ever seen him before when he learns of the curse. He spends several minutes ranting about how horrendous it is to curse a book for simply looking in it, not even trying to steal it! He's firmly of the opinion the wizard was on a power trip. xB is glad to have somebody on his side!

Keralis buys xB several sets of clothes, and they offer him a place to stay since, well... Hundreds of years in a book. xB gratefully accepts, forgetting his crush on them both. It takes a while for it to hit him - between existential dread, trying to cope with all the world's changes, and helping Xisuma and Keralis move into a new house. But when it does it's... Hard. Seeing them in love and remembering he has no part of that.

He continues to help out, determined to prove his worth. He's getting steadier on his feet by the day and he knows he'll have to move out eventually. But, the longer he can be useful, the longer he hopes they'll let him stay. Sure, he might sometimes forget he can interact with physical objects or talk to people now. But that's part of his charm!

It doesn't stop him being surprised when they ask him to stay, though. Nor when they ask if he'd like to join their relationship, several months later. Maybe getting cursed has its benefits after all.

Did an embossing peice. It's the Mojo Chessmaster! I tried by best to make it as detailed as possible, and I think I did pretty alright. The neck was probably the worst part to do. Below are close-ups

the head of the guitar was a pain in the ass.

This part was also pretty tricky but it came out okay. the dials at the bottom are raised as much as I could get them to go, so I'm not worried about them. My issue here was the pickups.

I also added Flansburgh's little signature guy but i drew his hair because why not? Anyways this piece took me a good hour or so to finish, I think it'll fetch a good grade (it was for my metal design class).

it's from a tally hall fanfic/au i made back in may after my grandpa passed away. It was a great stress-reliever and I still really like how it turned out. It's about cryptids and monsters and shit. I'll post a summary on a different post because this one was mostly for the drawings. I might post a few installments of it on my ao3. It could be a weekly thing since i usually have time on fridays to write.

On the one hand, as a transmasc who very much enjoys piv sex and reading about it, I do like having access to fic that caters to that, but you're also absolutely right that Gomems fans almost exclusively writing piv (despite and especially when employing the "effort" fanon) is... hm. Sus at best. Like, yes, many of the authors of those fics are trans themselves, but not only is it not just them writing it, some of the dialogue is also... well. Not ideal. I've read more than one where a penis and vagina were described as like "matching" or "counterpart" to each other and I've also never, ever seen a Gomens fic (not counting "genderswapped" which I'm not even gonna discuss in detail rn but just wanna clarify doesn't inherently make you "problematic" esp if you're a lesbian but is still a can of worms) where both of them have a vagina and that's... well, noticeable for sure...

Cyrus socializes like a cat, so he's happiest just being nearby for whatever activity Wyll wants to do-- snuggling while Wyll reads or listening him play his flute (or his cello once they're moved in to their estate post-game). Wyll similarly insists that his greatest creative inspiration comes when he's with Cyrus and loves to compose in Cyrus' garden, drafting sonnets and serenades while Cyrus is tending to his plants.

As for things they really do together, they love planning outings into the woods around Baldur's Gate. Romantic picnics, hunting, foraging, birding, just getting away from the bustle of the city

Wyll for Cyrus: Hmmmm Wyll is so accommodating it's hard to think of what he'd refuse… Of course there is the classic "you don't have to be the Blade of Frontiers" for me early on. No matter how many times Cyrus tells him that he doesn't have to perform for him, it's so hard to let go of a technique that has allowed you to cope with & make the best of such horrendous circumstances

Oh boy the 'at birth' specification is interesting, I've never really thought about what this version of Malcolm and Leandra had planned for him… He grew up on the road because Malcom was being hunted by his archfey patron who ends up killing him when Cyrus is very young (tho I have some. Extremely vague ideas about a post-game adventure involving Malcolm actually still being alive & Cyrus & his LI needing to save him). Presuming Malcolm doesn't die and is thus still around when Leandra passes from her illness, I could see him raising Cyrus as a much more well-adjusted rangers, mayhaps even of the fey wanderer variety as they work to free Malcolm from his patron

(…..i dont know how i've gotten this far without realizing before that the first loss in cyrus' life was to a vengeful warlock patron but it sure. Uh. Adds some Something to this dynamic…)

Wyll more obviously grows into a young lordling, but even without Mizora, I think he goes through life about 5 terribly repressed seconds from a nervous breakdown having grown up knowing absolutely nothing but his father's rigid expectations

And while I can't think of any self-evident way for their paths to cross, the notion of Wyll meeting a more fey version of Cyrus who whisks him away from the pressures of noble life for a whirlwind adventure straight out of the fantasies and fairytales Wyll grew up reading and dreaming about but had given up experiencing himself… well i think it FUCKS immensely

26. What are their favorite parts about physical affection/sex?

For both of them, the best part about physical affection is feeling safe. It's so new for them, but being able to melt into each other's arms and let all of their past disappear into the sound of the other's breathing and pulse is just one of their favorite things about being together, period.

For Cyrus, his relationship to sex is different than other iterations of the character because of his history with Meredith. Generally, Cyrus has two somewhat contradictory things he wants out of sex: to please his partner as much as possible, and to know himself and his body in relation to them. Contradictory because that first desire always trumps the second one and can even foreclose it entirely, depending on the partner, or make him vulnerable to someone who wants to control his sense of self.

Whereas ranger!Cyrus is pretty adamant about not relying on anyone else for that external validation/appraisal/identification. That just leaves "trying to give Wyll a religious experience every time," and that is something Cyrus adores immensely. (And his favorite part of /that/ is any indication of incoherency-- babbling and whining and stammering. Any sign that Wyll is trying sooo hard to be the calm & collected Blade and failing miserably turns Cyrus on a Lot; he refers to it playfully as 'making Wyll sing')

And as hard as it is, Wyll enjoys being made to let go and get out of his head and into his body and being taken care of and treated with a level of slow, gentle tenderness that is almost too much to bear (but he does and Cyrus praises him throughout to tell him he's doing a very good job bearing it)

Good day, Prefect, I've been thinking of sending a message for a while now, and I've finally gathered up the courage to do so. You see, there are these two cat twins from Pomefiore; they're first-years, and they're known to stir up mischief and cause havoc everywhere they go, and most people aren't exactly fond of them because of that. The thing is, I'm in a polyamorous relationship with the mentioned twins, and when word of that started to spread, people started to discourage me from continuing my relationship with them, telling me that I shouldn't associate myself with such delinquents. But the thing is, despite being mischievous and chaotic, they're actually quite sweet and know when to stop with their antics; they're also very caring at times too. But most people aren't aware of this side of them since they only ever show it to me. Now, Prefect, if it doesn't bother you too much, may I ask, how do I convince people that they aren't all bad? Here they are again, sitting on a comfortable leather chair(courtesy of Professor Crewel), a mic placed onto the studio’s mahogany table. A platter of snacks placed to their far right, beside a stack of canned tuna and a sleeping Grim.

Their school issued laptop with a tab already open to read messages from listeners and their simple phone case facing side up.

Stretching their arms and cracking their back to get their blood flowing, they finally turn on the mic with a muffled yawn.

“Once again,” Yuu fixes their tie even if they can’t be seen.

“Good morning Twisted Wonderland! We’re finally back after… sh-t I can’t remember—” They turn away and whisper in realization.

“—a long time!” They turn back, a strange look on their face.

“Today’s ask is… quite lengthy. But so are most of them these days.” They playfully roll their eyes.

“Hmm.” Tentative eyes skim the message, soaking up the information like a sponge.

“Pomefiore cat twins…” They give a thoughtful hum.

They strum the mahogany table with their nails for a few moments, racking their brain for memories of said twins.

“Cat twins in Pomefiore… might you mean Akanda and Akenya Siam?” They trace their bottom lip with their index finger in contemplation.

An…unfortunate encounter with another set of twins’ prank crosses their mind.

“Yes, they might be who you’re referring to. I might not have the best first impression of them, but it’s good to see them treat you as you deserve.”

“Anyways, back to the topic at hand,” Yuu pulls their school issued laptop closer to them.

“Let me provide a little summary of your situation,” Their eyes travel back to the message.

“You, Harlan, are in a polymerous relationship with the Pomefiore cat twins. They are known delinquents, which makes people around you to discourage your relationship, and this led to the twins attempting to shield you from that scrutiny by asking you to leave them,” They twist the ring around their finger, eyes still on the message.

“Huh, they seem a fair amount protective.” They remark.

“So from what I’ve gathered, the main question here is how do you defend both your relationship and partner— sorry, partners, from people who want 1950’s sh-t from you.” They softly click their tongue.

“I understand the need to defend you from others, but why do they seem so willingly to give your relationship up? As delinquents, one would expect them to not give a damn about what other people think and fight for what they think is right.”

“So where did that come from?” They ask.

“Yes, it might be to protect you, but at the cost of your relationship?” Yuu raised an eyebrow.

“That hardly seems like a fair trade.” They narrow their eyes.

“I think you should deal with your partners’ pleads first. As for what to say when you do,” They breathe, sincerely hoping this doesn’t sound wrong or out-of-pocket.

“Just say no. You know they’re asking you because they feel bad and think they don’t deserve you, so tell them it’s just self sabotage and encourage them to fight for your relationship than giving up on it.”

“Taking the easy way out is never good, so fight for it, even if it makes your knuckles bruise like violets.” They shrug.

“Then, defending and/or proving your relationship to other people will be easier as you now have them help you to maintain the relationship rather than giving in to other people’s opinions and pushing your break-up.”

“As for proving the relationship, the only thing I can really suggest as someone who’s been single since birth:,) is crank up the PDA and encourage them to show their sweet side. Since you’re already together, I don’t see any reason for embarrassment.”

“If they make you feel comfortable, if they make you feel loved, if you want to stay with them, then stay! You’ll be damned if you give a damn what people.” They say.

I'm re-reading the bigfoot series because I'm finally in a stable enough mental space to finish it.

(I have a horrendous habit of refusing to finish things I love. I've managed to rewatch every season of The Office ten+ times without watching the final three episodes. I know. I'm a crazy person. So, the fact that I haven't finished the bigfoot series is a compliment lol.)

I don't have a question. I just wanted to say the whole montage of the roadtrip is so dear to me.

Nothing really outright "romantic" happens, but it's still one of the most romantic sequences I've ever read.

I've been reading webcomics daily since at least 2003 & I'm torn on how I feel about webtoons and other comics aggregators. On the one hand, the fact that they're so bad for artists, their websites are shit, & their apps are full of garbage ads/promos is frustrating as hell. On the other hand, the alternative for a lot of amateur artists seems to be twitter or insta and that's even worse as a reader, since it's impossible to actually read archives. Fuckin' hate web 2.0 bullshit some days

i still dont understand why everyone is completely adverse to the most obvious and least damaging option in every single capacity: buying your own website and directing people to it. build a following on social media websites, as is their intended purpose, and make your money via patreon/wordpress plug-ins that allow you to lock extra content behind a paywall.

they only conceivable and easily disputed downsides of this set up are:

it costs money. but to buy a domain name and website is pitifully cheap these days. shared hosting can be as little as 2.50 a month and domain names are like 10 dollars a year. put aside 10 bucks a month to cover all your expenses lol. if you can't manage that you have way bigger problems you should deal with first.

there's a drastic dip in audience. which, if you're playing for the numbers you need to get offline and re-calibrate your entire soul. but if you want a bigger audience for the pragmatic reasons, such as more people=bigger potential profit, then i think you are attempting to make comics literally the single most brain destroying way possible.

what i mean is this: taking webtoons as the example, the advantage of being on webtoons is, presumably, because there is an audience there actively seeking out comics to read. the audience is large, but the audience is also almost entirely children, preteens and teens, demographics that are not known for having money to spend. instead, you have to make money via advertisements loading when the child audience loads a page. this means the more pages you have the more ad revenue you (theoretically) get. HOWEVER, webtoons also has insane panel MINIMUMS for their creator programs, so if you want to be in the special big boys club you have to do 35-50 panel minimums per update.

imo, the purpose of the panel minimums is so that webtoons has an absurd audience retention time to point at for their advertisers. and to be clear i mean webtoons THE COMPANY not the comic format "webtoon", which are designed to be read on a phone. there is nothing objectionable about the format. thats not my beef!! my beef is with how the company line webtoon is so transparently stupidly evil and people keep lining up to get fucked by them.

even putting aside the damage that cranking out 1200000 panels would do to your body, mind, and spirit, this sincerely makes for some of the worst storytelling i've ever seen. the primary audience is dumb because they are children, but the people who have seen movies, read books, other comics, etc can easily see how artificially inflated and empty each "chapter" (? im old i dont know the terminology lol) is.

ive seen webtoons that tried to make the jump to book format with embarrassing results. ive seen webtoons who, because they have no control over their page sizes, have to resort to turning a splash page on it's side which unfortunately always looks horrendous lol. did you know webtoons artists have to chop up their own panels in that incredibly stupid way so that you can't share them with your friends themselves? webtoons makes them do that. people actually do that.

all this and 40k, a massive amount of audience interaction that you would somehow manage to gain despite annoying your audience with video ads, only gets you a pathetic 100 dollars a month lol.

so people are working themselves to the bone for an audience that has undeveloped brains and haven't fully understood the magnitude of what art creation entails for pennies. organ grinder monkeys have a better life. there is no fucking reason to do this to yourselves.

get your own space and direct your audience to your social media for updates. tell them you are leaving webtoons because it is not financially viable. set up a means to be paid directly by your audience and stop. just stop hitting yourself

i hope that youre not getting too much hate for expressing your opinions and im looking forward to getting to know more about your future projects! ive been a fan of wayhaven books for a couple of years out and whilst its one of my faves, but that doesnt mean that i dont have any criticisms about it. i honestly think you made a lot of valid points. whilst i understand that wayhaven can be a comfort series for some people, i dont think that media should be exempt from criticism for doing the bare minimum. i thought she had gotten sensitivity readers, yet as someone whos demi myself, the portrayal of A's demisexuality throughout the series has been horrendous and it feels like it was just tacked on for no reason. the whole plot point with sin, a deity that used to be worshipped by assyrians being enslaved by the trappers was honestly not necessary in my opinion, i felt like maybe sensitivity readers would have pointed that out or something? but at least they freed my boy in the end so idk.

Honestly I don't care if people like it or not, because as I've said before, I used to be a big enough stan of the first two games that I recommended it to two whole people who also bought both games. I've actively made the author more money. Which is why I think I'm perfectly within my right to dunk on this thing now, because I used to be a fan, I used to love it, and I still very much enjoy a lot of the fan content created for it. Hell, there were some moments and ideas in book 3 that I actually liked, despite everything. I still think a lot about the potential of these stories and characters. It's not all rotten to the core, there is plenty of good stuff to be enjoyed that can very much be salvaged.

So I honestly don't think that people who enjoy it are like, beneath me or stupid or anything. I don't think they're the problem, I think they're there for the exact same thing I was: a silly vampire romance simulator. And if some of them are happy with what they're getting, then more power to them! But I think they deserve better than they're getting. And judging by the amount of people who have come to me privately and said "Thank you for speaking about this, I would too but I'm too scared to hurt people's feelings/speak out against a popular IF", it's pretty obvious that the quality just isn't there anymore, and that's okay to point out, too.

And I'm not out here trying to cancel it or anything. It's pretty small potatoes in the grand scheme of things, being "big" in the IF world means you're an older kid in a half-empty sandbox. I don't think people who buy or create content for it are doing something bad, in fact it's probably better to support smaller indie creators than ... other stuff. So like ... I don't have issues with people enjoying it.

I just wanted it to be better. I wanted to like it, because I liked it before. And I feel that it could have easily been better if more care was put into it, and maybe there was, but I just don't see it on the page anymore. It used to feel like an actual book, actual interactive fiction that you played and that was worth reading and interacting with. Like there was a world to inhabit and characters to connect with. Now, it's a collection of tired drabbles and fanfic fodder loosely connected by time skips, where you have to headcanon it into mattering and being interesting. I dunno, man. What's there just isn't worth the hype anymore.

Imagine oc being able to see ghost and spirits (more specifically yokai and anything close to the sort) since childhood. Terrifying really.

Demon paralysis be damned when you open your eyes to see a literal shadow figure staring down at you. Panic attack ensue.

Oh yeah, did she mention the voice in her head guiding her on what to do with these spirits and how to handle them, yeah that's a thing too...

Apparently they're the goddess Izanami, overseer of the underworld Yomi. Fantastic.

She also mentions how more spirits are running amok and unchecked bc APPARENTLY THANOS' SNAP HAD FUCKED THE BALANCE OF LIFE AND DEATH. So I guess those that disappeared weren't actually dead but literally just ceased to exist and it threw Yomi is a disarray of chaos.

Basically the goddess was pissed. So now oc is their unwilling paranormal detective, being forced to faces these horrendous spirits so they can pass on. Fucking fantastic.

Also the Blip actually made it worse too. Great.

Apparently there's some consequences of being forced to help these spirits

They're not limited to out of body experience while taking the train home, usually with oc being in the place of the memory of the spirits that were either before or lead to their deaths. Awesome. More nightmare fuel for her ig.

While this happens to her mentally, physically her body will either be unconscious, spaced out, or even moving on its own unconsciously.

When she sleeps they become vivid nightmares she can't remember usually, only the terror she felt. Sometimes she'll find bruises and scratches on her and remember only bits of what happened. Night terrors. Check. Bodily harm. Check.

Ofc that doesn't happen bc Harrow and his cult with Ammit ensue hijinks.

So Marc and her are complicated bc they used to be friends as kids but then her family moved to NY. They kept contract and talk but it became very minimal. Like simple how are you type shit. So they have no idea what the other looks like over the years.

So Marc is in for a big twist when he finds out Steven's date is her. It doesn't help he had a tiny itsy bit of a crush on her as kids.

But he doesn't have feelings for her he loves Layla still, right? It's probs bc of the fond memories he held of her as a child that makes him soft for her. No not bc she's kinda of a cute goof.

They met when she was in college and hit it off from there. I don't want to give away too much of their relationship but long story short. Jake does break contact with her.

So when everyone finds out about Jake things get awkward real fast and real bad.

Kinda gives off Scaramouche vibes from Genshin Impact but not as arrogant you know. She's not very well liked within the Japanese pantheon due to her role and also from her ex-husband's influences.

She really does care for oc. Thinks of her as her kin. She was a mother once too.

Speaking of her ex-husband, also commits hate crimes against her ex-husband Izanagi too (iykyk) and tbh go off queen.

Only oc sees her and she takes an appearance of a normal woman but dresses expensively. Thinking of Manwol from Hotel de Luna, same vibes as well tbh bc when I write Nami I think of Manwol tbh.

Bc with how oc acts, Izanami needs to take over when push comes to shove. Though this happens rarely.

Mostly this happens when oc is unconscious and in peril danger. Or when provoked enough to encite her fury or vise versa (usually the later is towards other gods of different pantheon, yeah she's still bitter they did nothing to restore balance in life and death). Sometimes when oc's spirit/consciousness is forcefully pushed out of their body, Izanami takes control to make sure the body is breathing.

look we disagree on things a lot, i disagree with her a lot, she seems to take everytime i point out she could be wrong (the first few times her response was "it's like your my mom mano po" ("mana po" is something people do to their elders) and "go work on your self first" in response to my room and my sleep schedule, like. y'know me sleeping late and being messy gives her yhe excuse to be a bad person.) now it's "you just love debating me don't you" "you always think im wrong about everything" and now recently "youre always the villain in my story" ("lagi kang kontrabida saking buhay")

because yeah sure im the villain, im the person who bullied ("idiot, lunatic, insane, you made yourself ugly, you look insane, you look like a lunatic") verbally abused (read the previous sentences, and what comes after this), hit (four times to be exact, also threathened to beat me up if i ever did that again, and later on said she was gonna smack me if i ever tried it again later on too) and told their kid they're insane and that tgey didn't care about anyone except themselves for botching their haircut
