Rook

  Rook, for me, seems like the type of man who would prefer for you to choose the date location since he wants to see the places that “bring out your inner beauty, mon cheri!” But don’t get him wrong, he would be so happy if you ask him to be the one to decide the place and the activities . I still believe that he would choose something according to the vibe you give him. 

 If you prefer more relaxed dates, Rook would suggest going to a gallery or a botanical garden. He would find enjoyment in looking together at the exhibits and to either explain them to you and vice versa. He would also bring a camera with him to take photos of the exhibits and of course you, it brings him so much happiness. Be sure that he would praise your beauty among the paintings/flowers for eons but just know that everything he says it’s completely true. He also seems the type of person to try to find a painting/flower that would resemble you and immediately show it to you. Please do the same for him, Rook will be overjoyed.

  On the other hand, if you like to do something fun for your date, he would definitely suggest paintball! Don’t worry, he would go easy on you , after all he wants both of you to enjoy the date. And seeing your determined and concentrated face upon close makes Rook more lovestruck by the second. Also if you are inexperienced with paintball, be sure that he will leave everything to go help you out, no matter the team you guys are!

Idia

  First of all, I have to applaud you for getting him out of his room to go on a date with you. We all know that Idia is extremely shy to go out but with the help of his no.1 wingman, aka Ortho, he will definitely grow some courage and mayyybeee leave his tablet behind. Okay maybe not. But still Idia wants to choose a date spot that you will love and at the same time both of you feel comfortable with, so a very cozy date is his way to go.

 Since he would feel bad if you stayed inside for the whole duration of the date, one of his most creative suggestions was a Board Game Shop date. As a member of the Board Game Club, I feel he would have a grasp on what type of games you will find fun . Also this is a good way for him to see what your preferences are and he loves it when you come up to him and excitedly tell him about a game you found that you want to play together. Little do you know that that’s exactly what he wants to do. So when you are not looking, he goes and buys the game that you were most excited about. On the way home he has a warm smile on his face when he hears you being overjoyed that he bought a game for both.

  “When we reach home, do you want to play it together? It will be fine if you can’t, I completely understand if you are busy. HUHH? YOU-YOU CANCELED EVERYTHING TODAY SO WE CAN SPENT THE DAY TOGETHER? Why did you… fine fine sorry… and thank you.”

  If Idia is in a more confident mood, rare I know, he would suggest going to a cat cafe. Probably when the cafe opens so few people would be around. But that doesn’t make it any less special. The way Idia’s eyes lit up when he was around those cute little cats and you was unmatched. The way his hair was up in a bun ,so the kittens wouldn’t be burned, was so adorable even though the kittens had something else in mind. They would flock around his hair due to the warmth and the lighting and would play around like moths on a light pole. Idia even though he was worried for the kittens, he couldn’t help laugh when they were attacking him at all fronts. Please take a lot of pictures and videos for him, he would be so touched his hair will turn pink.

  “Look at all those kittens! OMG they are so adorable, I wanna take them all home and just cuddle them up and take so many pict- h-hey why are you smiling like that? You think I-I am more ad-adorable? Well you are totally wrong cause that is you. I said nothing!”

Lilia

  Lilia seems the most knowledgeable about dates from the other two due to him living for so many years but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t enjoy them anymore. On the contrary, he feels so warm inside when you propose to go on a date with him. Silver would be a little baffled seeing his dad so happy but the moment he realizes why, he is supportive. With a little persuasion, Malleus, Silver and Sebek would convince him to not do a dinner date cause “It’s more fun if you have a change of scenery” but thankfully Lilia had more ideas in store,

 Unfortunately for you, one of them was a picnic. No matter how hard they tried to force Lilia out of the kitchen, Lilia did manage to make some stuff for both of you to eat. If we put aside his inability to cook, he strongly believes that food is a form of love, so his strong feelings will show if he makes something with a strong taste no? Thank Silver and Sebek afterwards for packing some fruits too. But nevertheless, the date is super fun, doing cloud gazing together, picking flowers and just overall sharing stories.

“So little one, I packed some sandwiches and some tarts for us to eat, all made by me of course. Huh? You want to eat later? My, my, can I ask why? Oh you wanna explore the area first? Of course everything for a person as lovely as you are…”

 If you are a music lover like him, make sure that he will recommend both of you to go to a concert. It doesn’t matter if the band is popular or not, if he knows them or not or if they fit his style, he just wants to hang out with you. He is happy to follow you anywhere and he is open to new experiences. Also during the concert he will make sure that everything is alright and he will make sure that you will enjoy it wholeheartedly. The moment a love song plays, make sure to check on him because his eyes are definitely not on the stage anymore.

He’s definitely a trickster and I think he’s way more powerful than he’s letting on.

I get vibes that he is a switch and is down for anything in the bedroom but is definitely a brat when bottoming and wants to be manhandled and put in his place.

Is a masochist and loves riling you up for angry bedroom fun and will not hesitate to tease you out in public. He knows full well what he’s doing.

One thing he hates, however, is being ignored, if he’s trying to rile you up and get you mad, and you ignore his behaviors, he gets upset very quickly and will usually turn into a good boy for you and apologize but expect lots of pouting afterwards and will expect you to dote on him for being so mean to him.

Ik it's a pretty popular thing to hc the season 2 kids as trans (since a lot of them very much give off that vibe) but the #1 character of season 2 I hc trans is Hermie. Probably some kind of gnc or non binary but uses he him, he they, or any pronouns tbh. You're telling me the man who both loves the joker, is ready to BE poison ivy, AND is the child of a shape shifting non euclidean trickster isn't trans??? Given that he can change his form at will he probably has a unique relationship with his gender and exploration.

Rapunzel - Apollo

You've seen her, you know her, she's the lost princess, the saviour, the home bound, the baker, the signer-songwriter and a painter. Rapunzel's artistic and inspiring nature make her a perfect contestant to be under the patronage of Apollo!

Apollo is the god of the sun, music, the arts and like 12 more other things. He’s renowned for his work with artists and many pagans today worship the patron god of plagues the arts.

The only other guesses I have for her are Helios (Greek) or Grannus (Celtic)

Raps is a great contender for anything that’s like “art is a prayer” and artistic actions and whatnot? Yeah she’s your good’n’kind classical bard here!

Merida - Artemis

She's got red curly hair, stands at 5'4'' (my height ladies and gentlemen) and has once turned her mother into a bear!! Her skills in archery, independence and the like make her a great choice for Artemis!

Artemis is the goddess of the hunt, the moon, chastity and like her twin brother Apollo, like 12 other things. But most importantly here, archery. She is known to be a symbol of protection of children as well.

Her Gaelic god-parent would be Arduinna

Merida seems to be more attuned to acts of devotions like riding, hunting and archery rather than calm prayer, poetry and the like. Artemis is absolutely a guide she could go with all in all!

Hiccup - Hapheastus

You’ve seen him, you know him, he's the only one with more than one movie, and despite 1/3 of a leg missing, HE'S STILL KICKING! Make way for Hiccup, under the patronage of Hapheastus!

Hapheastus is the god of blacksmiths, metalworking, carpenters, craftsmen, artisans, sculptors, metallurgy, fire (compare, however, with Hestia), and volcanoes— this one deserves a long list cuz he’s a sweetheart tbh

Brokk and Sindri are the closest Norse equivalent that would fit in here!

Not the most well known god, but hiccup who works as an apprentice in the shop, would be delighted to be under this god. He is the patron and protector of workers and forges many great weapons, hiccup’s fire sword could be a devotion to him!

Jack Frost - Hermes

The man, the myth, the legend, he's the fan favourite and he's an icon: Jack Fost! He may not be a messenger, but he does give Sheperd vibes with his staff! Anyways, his patron God would be Hermes.

Hermes is a trickster, a psychopomp and messenger of the gods, descendant of an older Pan, he’s a chaotic character well associated with tricks and jokes! He’s also the god of shepherds, cattle and livestock, making him a pretty multi-tasking guy on the day-to-day basis!

Jack’s relationship with the god, something else as it is with most Hermes kids ig, if anything though, his work would absolutely be through actions, his connection with the wind and frost brings Zagreus and Boreas to mind, but rather in an accessory way. Either way; Both Hermes and Jack rule.

Some of my works grow slowly haha. My seventeen works tend to do better than any of my other stuff. But since I write for myself, when I decide on a subject it’s decided based on who I’m getting the inspiration from- which as of late has been Sungchan!

When I write for nct I try to write the characters not with their traditional besties. That's why in my Sungchan works I never had his bestie be Shotaro (except in like two one shots), or in my Jaemin centered stories I never had his bestie be Jeno.

Since I did write the characters with their inspirations in mind not everyone would be a clean 1-to-1 change. However this is going to be super fun for me to think about who would fit best where and why, so I hope you enjoy it 🤓

THROUGH THE WEBS

Taeil -> Sohee. You got this one pretty on target! He's the main vocalist so it makes sense to have him with the same power as Taeil.

Ten -> Wonbin. This one is just based on pure vibes.

Jaemin -> Eunseok. With the way Jaemin was written in the original to me Eunseok clicks well with this character. I also think Eunseok would work well as having the electricity powers that Jaemin had.

Taeyong-> he would probably stay the same? I made him Sungchan’s brother for a few reasons but I don’t really feel like Shotaro or Eunseok would make sense for this part.

THE ETERNAL TRAGEDY I would have to change the original structure in this theoretical situation lol. In this case, Yuta's character would either have to be removed entirely (I love you bby I'm sorry) or left in so I'll just have to focus on the other characters.

Jaemin -> Shotaro. Due to the nature of the story I would honestly switch their two characters.

Johnny -> Wonbin. (spoilers I guess?) Johnny is also a representation of Venus. He’s also appears easygoing while really being hard worker. I feel like for the eternal tragedy wonbin would work here, although I’d likely make him only in charge of the bar in Mercury.

Ten -> Sohee. Ten’s a representation of Mercury and I feel like Sohee would best work as this too.

Kun -> honestly idk who in riize would fit this character. He’s a representation of Neptune and Neptune was always Jupiter’s adversary.

Taeyong -> Stays the same! Since him, Taemin, and Taeyeon are the fates there wouldn’t need to be a change.

Yangyang -> Anton! Yangyang’s character here was very much trickster so if I would have to switch him out for anyone it would be Anton. I think his dynamic as a warlock would be fun.

Yeah! I didn't have a lot of familiarity with it, but it was really fascinating to read about while I was answering that last ask! I'm really interested in the Zé Pilintra spirit--but I've always been drawn to the trickster figures :).

That's another thing about Overwatch I wish they'd have more fun with--there's so many cool little niche cultural things they could dig into with their characters to give them a more unique profile if they just did a bit more research, but they're usually working with these broad strokes of "Nationality + Sci-Fi Concept." And a lot of that is the general principle of "You do have to work simple when you're working with a huuuuuuge cast" but a lot of it is also the sort of USAmerican-centricity aspect of it, which again, as I was talking about earlier today, is a significant part of Overwatch's issue with monolithic cultural depictions.

furries have been on my brain so here are some shogun steel characters and what i think their species would be and why 1. Zyro is a black jaguar!! you are right axel he is pretty kitty but i feel like his backstory and personality fit a wildcat more. i like to imagine he dyes his fur orange to help him stand out cause he blends in with the dark so well haha

2. Maru is a hamster!! this one is mostly based on vibes teehee. she's just a little guy. pick her up and hold her in your palm 💞💞💞 i could also see her being a bear cub tbh, but i just like the image of her stuffing her face and her cheeks get all large as a hamster hehe.

3. Shinobu is an axolotl!! it's literally cause of his antenna hair i gotta be honest with you lol. but besides that i just feel like the colors of axolotls suit him and it's fuel for your mexican hcs cause axolotls are native to mexico 👀 (ive also imagined in this universe where instead of breaking his bones in canon he loses limbs and has to be in the hospital so he can safely regenerate them akdsjfasdfk)

4. the Unabara brothers are sea otters!! i mentioned before that kite's hair being urchin shaped reminds me of how sea otters eat urchins so i found it fitting. plus it fits with the aquatic theme they have going on. in japanese mythology otters were tricksters like kitsune and tanuki and that fits eight to a T. otters also hold hands to stay together in the water and that's soooo unabara-coded <333

5. Ren is a hunting dog, most likely a spaniel. not too certain on the specific breed yet but i like the brittany spaniel!! she just has that dog energy and i feel like her being a hunting dog can represent her rivalries with other bladers, like taka and genjuro (ik she barely has any in canon but let me dream okay 😔)

6. Taka is a leopard or spiny gecko!! dont really have a proper explanation for this one it's mostly just vibes as well, but i feel like you could compare him being a small lizard that easily "sticks" to people and is very loyal to sakyo, who in a way is like a direct opposite to him.

7. speaking of, Sakyo is a maned wolf/dragon hybrid!!! you mentioning sakyo as a maned wolf lit a lightbulb in my head how does it feel to be so right. i feel like you can really dive into his identity as a descendant of the dragon clan with him visibly being half-dragon too yk. just in general it fits his supposedly menacing aura yet when you get to know him he's just silly and kind of a loser lmao. him and zyro's rivalry is so perfect too cause jaguars are the maned wolf's biggest predator! (plus imagining victoria as a really tall maned wolf 😳 like heeeey girl /j)

8. Kira is a wolfdog!! specifically a high content wolfdog (he has more wolf dna than dog). i chose wolfdog specifically because him being part dog really emphasizes his upbringing in dna to me, and how he still genuinely yearns for connection and a home. i like to think he just calls himself a wolf and ignores his dog heritage cause he doesnt want to seem weak or subservient, and eventually he learns to be proud of his dog attributes

this started as a joke on akira being “the trickster” and trickster mode, and then it got a little out of hand as my friends and I joked about other characters. on that note I would like to raise the hc that trickster mode is basically just your shadow but hopped up on sugar

design notes and candy explanation under the cut haha!

akira- picked kopiko for him, which is a candy made w real coffee that I just liked the vibe of. I think trickster akira would basically just be an overly enthusiastic joker

ryuji- grape manta (monta?); it’s the soda he hands makoto in their showtime and I mostly just picked it bc purple and yellow sounded fun, and I couldn’t imagine him with a straight up candy, haha. trickster ryuji is probably barely different from regular ryuji except shouting about being the phantom thieves isn’t even accidental

goro- it had to be a pancake. it had to be. kind of ended up as blueberry pancakes in spirit bc I needed something to contrast the golden brown color (and also akira). kinda mixed aspects of both his prince outfit and black mask outfits for this?

ann- strawberry crepe! naturally. I think she and goro would be by far the most dangerous tricksters bc without inhibitions they would 100% just commit murder whenever someone so much as looks at them wrong

teddie- topsicle, also an obvious choice! kinda mixed his alice outfit in here too, along with of course his actual shadow. trickster teddie is probably kind of a downer though given his shadow. everyone else is off killing people and changing hearts and whatever else and trickster teddie is asking you about the deeper implications of life and its meaning

yosuke- vanilla soft serve ice cream, w a caramel swirl- I went with vanilla soft serve because junes has an ad for it you can see in the background when they’re in the food court, and I honestly couldn’t think of anything better to reference haha (plus he and teddie both get frozen treats this way?)... with caramel to go with the orange and make it a little more interesting. trickster yosuke is probably the most directly comparable to the canon instances of trickster mode hsfghsgfh

ok im going to spill a shit ton of hcs about young garm and misako, whether u like it or not!!!

FIRST THING I MUST MENTION

about 500 years b4 garm and misako, the fsm gave the elements to the master and took him and his sons to their mountain monastery to focus on their development and training as both of their powers began to show. (like they were a couple of hundred years old but they looked like they were like 12-14 ish)

the sons have lived relatively separate from most people, besides occasional visits to the village at the base of the mountain. But the fsm completely withdraws himself and his sons from the world.

OK COOL NOW CUT TO 500 YEARS LATER

Garm is the equivalent to like 25-28 years old, and has been sent to a temple to "mediate upon his actions" upon a recent outburst against his father. He's meant to go to the sacred temple to be around the peaceful vibes and center himself. But instead of finding an old abandoned temple only seen by a few eyes, he finds a woman digging through the sacred library. A library so sacred only the fsm and the first elemental masters have only seen.

If you haven't guessed its Misako, an adventurer who has great respect for the past and wants to document everything for future generations. But upon seeing her, Garm is all like THE SACRED TEXTS?!?! and is in a big huff about her rooting around a sacred temple

she tells him to not get his robes in a twists and explains she got permission from the holy men who maintain the temple to document the texts in the library.

Garm is a lil thrown off by this but he enjoys the company and tries to help her, as he was around when half of it was written anyway. Also Misako is well versed in the tales of the fsm and his sons but she believes them to be myths, and garm really doesn't tell her otherwise. And they begin to talk to each other, and garm begins to learn about how the world is today. That most of the elemental masters are seen as a myth as well, how governments and countries have formed broke and reformed. And he learns how the world sees him and his family.

Misako tells him about the 'myths' of the First master and his sons, Wu is known as Wu Long but garm is only known as the first son. The trickster, the dark child, the shadow. While Wu has the opposite connotation. Garm isn't seen as evil, but not exactly as good either. But he and wu are darkness and light, they have been put into mythological connotations of day and night, the dark island and the island of ninjago. They are representations of themes and ideas. But still Garm is not exactly happy about this either.

But one other thing he learns is about dark magic. Before the fsm left dark magic was prohibited to practice. But after more people practiced it. And its not a bad thing either, as those who are attuned to magic are either attuned to the light or the dark, and being attuned to the dark doens't mean you'll be evil, or have evil magic. Their are actually a lot of healing magic in the dark, along with other enchantments that are similar to light. Garm has only been taught light by his father, but he sucks at it, he cant do it. SO it's misako who tells him about schools of dark magic.

ok and its not all misako info dumping on garm, as garm also helps misako with hard translations, and tells her about his life. He has unique insight on the past and she loves the new perspective he gives her on old stories and events. They become solid friends and hang in the old tempel all week together until Garm needs to leave.

From then on Garm tries to reenter the world (along with Wu) exploring the land of ninjago, and the two always seem to run into each other on their travels. And misako seems to be one step ahead of him. She's the one who tells him to go and learn from a dark magic school, and he is the one who will always point her in the direction of the next big find. They gel pretty well and are suuuper sarcastic with one anouther

⚬ Being the girlfriend of an eccentric devil hunter had more ups than downs. But every so often, his quirks got the better of you.

⚬ Dante absolutely loves getting the jump on anyone in sight. Whether it would be his brother, his nephew, his friends, an unsuspecting pizza delivery guy, or even his S/O; AKA you.

⚬ He seems to find out what would make a person jump with incredible speed. Perhaps this was to keep the upper hand against anyone willing enough to scare him.

⚬ For example, Vergil and Nero have a fierce aversion to their ribs being tickled. Poke ‘em, and they will execute the perfect eight foot vertical leap before returning the favour with a flurry of stingers.

⚬ Nevertheless, this devil was damn good at deciphering people and what makes them tick; Or in this case, keel over in shock.

⚬ With you, however, he was gentle at first. His paranoia of offending you nearly crippling his need to surprise people.

⚬ With time, since he began dating you, he opened up, and started to ease off on his guard. This was when his cogs clicked into place, finally planning out his fool-proof master plan when you left for the store to top up the fridge.

⚬ He hid behind a floor length curtain, comically leaving his boots peeking out from under the fabric. Awaiting your timely return with two full bags of groceries, he clasped his hands together, rubbing them like a diabolical villain.

⚬ You were completely oblivious to his presence, happily walking past the living room to reach the kitchen.

⚬ “Babe? Dante, I’m home-” The trailing curtains and a chilling draft answered your call. No scarlet devil in sight.

⚬ This was when he had reached the conclusion of his plan, the big bang. A deafening exclamation of your name, and a poke at your hips, was to be his execution. What he did not expect however, was your banshee screech, and a scrunched up face ready to turn crimson from the tears.

⚬ You turned barely breathing, fragmented sobs leaving your lungs. The sight of you made Dante’s stomach churn. He hadn't anticipated such a reaction. Never in his life has anyone countered the surprise with such visceral emotions.

⚬ He cursed himself for his callousness, and decided to scoop you into his arms, in turn making you nuzzle into his collarbone.

⚬ “C’mon doll, I’m sorry. I’ll never do that again, I promise. Let’s get you something to drink. I’ll call up the pizza place and get your favourite. Ok? Maybe a good movie? The Shining? Wait no- shit. No horror movies. Er-” You couldn’t help but somewhat smile through the startled tears, his flustered reaction giving him an endearing puppy vibe.

⚬ Meanwhile you sniffled into his clavicle with your elevated heartbeat slowing down to its resting rate, Dante continued to hold you in his arms, carding his fingers through your hair and planting apologetic pecks upon your crown.

⚬ He spoke in soft tones, telling bad puns and overused jokes. Evidently, they made you giggle, no matter how atrocious and antediluvian they were, as long as they were told by Dante. 

⚬ He would try to treat you to anything you’d want. You objected, saying that you felt as though you were guilt-tripping him. He shushed any mentions of guilt, and continued to shower you with love.

⚬ For weeks after the jumpscare, he left bouquets of red roses around the house, leaving notes of his devotion and apologies to you. By the end of the month, your home became a makeshift garden of flowers at different stages of their life.

⚬ He’d continue to frighten the stockings off of anyone who isn’t you, even letting you in on the pranks, begging you to join him on his escapade to become a walking horror movie. Besides, what better way to involve you without frightening you than to let you be part of the jumpscares?
