They're doing a Star Wars movie night, comparing – once and for all, says Tommy – Revenge of the Sith with Return of the Jedi. There is, naturally, a winner despite all discussions, but Buck can't help it, he needs to feed his point of view with facts, so he starts to google. However it happens, he discovers a page full of Star Wars stories, "but that's not canon," he says, and then falls silent. Tommy is intrigued to see what topic can actually silence his boyfriend, and it is... "Porn, Evan, really?" "Well, stories," Buck says, "just... about Obi-Wan and Anakin." "What?" Tommy knows gay porn, but he's never heard about smut fics. This night, they're having sex in their bathrobes. "With our lightsabers," says Buck, but Tommy quickly shuts his mouth.

So is that awful and ill placed and thought out daddy kink joke supposed to be a set up for Buck season 8?? For Buck actually exploring his trauma around his father and around Bobby??

Is it supposed to be the set up for Buck realising he is still on the hamster wheel of relationships where he’s in it for the emotional connection and his partner is only in it for sex?

Is that what this is - because I have spent my night trying to figure out what other reason there could possibly be for dropping that ‘joke’ at that moment and making that scene weird?

Buck is clearly more invested in the relationship than Tommy is - you can see Buck is still invested and engaged in his first queer relationship - that he’s still a bit starry eyed over Tommy - but that scene was screaming Abby 2.0 at me - Tommys behaviour was very similar to Abby’s in my opinion.

And while I’m not mad at that as a concept - Tommy being similar to Abby makes a fair amount of sense - in the same way she helped move Buck from playboy to relationship material (I maintain the playboy persona was a mask and coping mechanism for his loneliness) Tommy is helping him move from straight to queer - unlocking another part of himself.

But if that is the case - that scene - that set up - was just not it.

Every other main had at least a fair hint of what there arc will be for season 8, but Buck didn’t really - yes it was made clear he’ll be there for Eddie (and Chris) but that journey is Eddie’s not Bucks - Buck had no hint of an arc for himself so I’m left trying to figure out what they’re doing with him and this is where I’m at.

It was strange, having a phone of his own.

Tommy hadn’t been allowed to have much anything of his own for a long time, after all, especially something as important as a phone. A computer. Anything, really.

Anything that could’ve let him tell someone about exile.

But, Quackity had been very firm that in case of emergency, Tommy needed a way to contact him or Wilbur. And he was making the most of it, certainly! He had already put some stickers on his case, and downloaded a couple games to fuck around on.

It just didn’t quite ease the weight on his chest, the prickly, annoying feeling of not being worth such an expensive gift.

Whatever.

Maybe he’d just get that app his brother and Quackity had been using recently.

Being chatty always kept him too busy to identify those feelings.

finally got tommy's intro together! i have such a soft spot for him, y'all have no idea <3 also, i'm very aware of the fact that that first picture is a picture of kelly nickels and that might be a bit too on the nose, but i just couldn't resist (tommy is a hot bassist, kelly is a hot bassist, i mean, the book practically writes itself). anyways, here he is!

nobody back home would've imagined that tommy—shy, reserved tommy salem—would become the most infamous partier in overconsumption, but fame does things to people. especially people who don't enjoy it.

tommy is, above all else, a person with an appreciation for the gentle things, things that can be hard to come by in the industry he's made a life for himself in. he's also a man of several bad habits that are quite difficult to break, but nobody's perfect, right? in reality, they're not so much habits as distractions from the eyes that constantly seem to be on the band nowadays, but tommy would never admit that, except maybe to his best friend since middle school, logan. he doesn't want to cause any problems with the rest of the band, or the public eye. that's rj's job.
