i love you if you're mentally ill and/or neurodivergent and can't hide your symptoms. i love you if you tic, if you space out for long periods of time and lose track of conversations, if you react to hallucinations, if you laugh and talk out loud to yourself or to your system members, if you get scared and panic and have to react, if you run from perceived threats, if you get angry and irrational when something triggers your paranoia or trauma, if you can't help getting scared and dependent, if you have a low stress tolerance, if you have disorganized speech and word salad, if you stutter, if you can't control the volume of your voice. you are loved.

I'M BACK!!! AND WIF TAC REF! :D
It's himb, he's here! :D
OK SAME RULES AS WITH TIC:
1! Ofc you can draw him, but please do research on Tourette's before attempting to represent his Tourette's!
This is in order to avoid stereotypes and misconceptions.
2! Please don't ship him with other Sanses!
Sorry, this is just a personal comfort thing. You can ship that stuff in your head or in private spaces with friends, just not in public please, and don't let me know about it. ^^; (Plz it would make me very uncomfortable.)

Recovering from top surgery with Tourette's is going to be tough. My tics like to target wounds which is incredibly unfortunate.
Sitting with the constant urge to punch myself in the chest is incredibly difficult. It takes so much concentration not to do it, to redirect the tic. It's a horrible feeling. I'm so scared I'm going to damage it, pull something. I told my surgeon about my tics and she seemed confident it'd be okay so I have faith in her. Everything is glued and stitched together, and the post op binder and tight, so I doubt I'll do any damage. But it's so scary. All I can do is keep myself constantly occupied, ensure I keep my anxiety levels as low as possible, and keep pillows nearby so if I can't bare the urge anymore, at least i can hit the pillow.

reminder that anxiety tics don’t exist and that you can’t get tics from adhd/autism. If you’re ticcing please go see a doctor.

Neurodiversity Acceptance Event
Tumblr media
EVERYONE! I know this is incredibly short notice but I'm making a neurodiversity acceptance event challenge for ao3! I've tried my best to make the prompts not just exclusive to autism so please try to do as many on as many forms of neurodivergence as possible! I know April is traditionally about autism but let's be honest, the neurodivergent community is too intertwined for that!
Now, you can check the rules by going on the collection's rules
"_" usually means to insert whatever neurodivergence you want the fic to be about except in prompt 23. in prompt 23, it means insert an organisation that you feel doesn't advocate for neurodivergence properly.
Prompts can be answered in any order and you can use whatever number you want but the collection will close on the 12th of May (to give people enough time to finish stuff as i've been late releasing it)
For the "I am _" prompt, all responses must be geared towards acceptance (as do responses in general obviously but that's a particularly sensitive one so thought I'd clarify!)
To respond, put the work in the ao3 collection and in the work's description, say what prompt(s) you used
Also, fanfic can be released here on tumblr with the neurodiversity acceptance event tag!

how does everyone deal with tics that aren’t ‘enough’ if you get what I’m saying?
Cuz i’ve recently developed a tic where I stretch my leg out/jerk it out but doing the tic doesn’t actually help relieve the feeling and it’s driving me insane

I have a question for Tic and Tac (hopefully it's not offensive to ask 🥹) Do you guys think your tics are influenced by or affect your personalities?
Tumblr media Tumblr media

((Coprolalia is swearing/inappropriate language tics.))
Tac: Ya don't even get biting tics, bonehead.
Tic: Jokes aside, I think they are affected by our personalities and experiences to some extent.
If we're more likely to intentionally do or say somethin', we might be more likely to tic it. Tho ofc, in no way does that mean the reverse. If we tic somethin', that doesn't mean we'd intentionally say or do that thing, nor does it mean we were even thinkin' about it.
Tac: Like he said tho, ta some extent. Not completely. We got a lotta the same tics, an' we all got the same type'a tics, 'n' same severity. We all got sever Tourette's, an' we all got coprolalia. Even Tou, who tries ta avoid swearin'.
Tic: As for our tics affectin' our personalities, no. Not directly at least.
Our different experiences caused by havin' Tourette's does a bit tho.
Tac: Yeah, I noticed Classic ain't quite as insecure as Tic.
Tic: And Fell isn't quite as bitter as Tac.
Tac: Oh fuck off.
Tic: You started it.
((Dont worry. Wasn't an offensive question at all. <3))

I’m a Palestinian American, and watching everything that’s going on over there is absolutely heartbreaking. I’m thinking of every group of people that’s being affected, but my mind keeps hanging on to the people with Tourette’s. I just know their bodies are going through absolute agony, but everyone is going through agony. Please, in whatever country you are in, no matter your capabilities you do have an impact on this, protest, spread information and call your government! Boycott companies if you can, and don’t stop talking.
