If you are an ally (or even a trans person), I really need you to stop showing pictures of masculine trans men with "so you want HIM in the women's bathroom?" as a "gotcha". Because yes, yes they do. Can I tell you why?

Before I do, I need to make one thing clear: I am not a "discourse queer". I don't get involved in the labels shit, the oppression Olympics, or any of that BS. I don't see the point in inter-community bickering. So save the "well actually" shit and listen to a queer man just this once. We all have our battles to fight but at the end of the day I'm going to be in exactly the same fucking camp as you, if I haven't already stepped in front of a bullet for you instead.

They want trans men in that bathroom to make them stand out. They want transness to be obvious. If they could make trans people wear a pink triangle, they would. The easiest way to drive trans people to suicide or back into the closet is to make it impossible to live a quiet, private life as a trans person. To expose them to as much pain, ridicule and suffering as possible. If they make transition a gauntlet of agony where you will never fit, never have peace, very few people would survive it.

Trans men are viewed as lost incubators. Their sacred bodies belong to the state and the nation as mothers and wives. Their masculinity is viewed as stolen valour. Transition is a radical act of defiance against that ownership, as it is for trans women in the opposite direction. Forcing both trans men and trans women "back" into their "spaces" where they can be suitably punished for the audacity of putting themselves over society's choices for their bodies is exactly what transphobes want.

It was never about safety. It was never about the dignity of the masses. Only the thickest terfs swallowed that cover. It was always about lumping as much indignity and cruelty onto trans people as possible so no one ever transitioned.

So please, for the love of fuck, stop posting Leo's picture up with "HIM IN YOUR SPACE?" Because yes. They would love the opportunity to humiliate and belittle Leo. Putting him in women's spaces would do exactly that.

There's a layer to this which has to do with what we unsderstand is transphobic. You don't need to be jkrowling levels of vitriolic to be a transphobe.

Most people fall on the "I think trans people should have righta but I have some concerns about puberty blockera and trans women in sports" levels of transphobia.

why do people assume celebrities are not transphobic by default? we live in a deeply transphobic world. many of the "basic facts about the world" we are taught as children are fully transphobic lies. i don't get why, when people like a celebrity, they write a little fictional biography in their head about how they're probably not transphobic (despite the fact that, mathematically, most people totally transphobic, especially people of class celebrities belong to). like why? why just assume that people in this deeply transphobic world are progressive trans allies by default without any kind of evidence?

I was talking to my mom, who is a doctor, about asexuality, and guess what. Apparently, it’s dependant on the production rate of testosterone in your body.

It’s statistically proven that women are more likely to be asexual than men, which matches up because men’s bodies produce more testosterone than women’s. In addition, it also explains why it’s a spectrum: different rates of production. It’s also why you might identify at some point in your life and not at another!

So if anyone tries to tell you that you’re “broken” for being ace: no. It’s a medically researched thing and the lack of testosterone is not too large to cause any, ANY damages to the body. You are in all ways, including scientifically, healthy!

It's 2019. Donald Trump is still president of the USA. Politics everywhere are kinda shitty. The EU is letting people drown in the mediteranean sea. Sexism and patriarchal systems still exist, as do homo-, trans- and any other kinds of queerphobia. The environment is endangered as fuck. Thousands of terrible things that I don't even know about (mainly bc I live in a western country and our media doesn't cover what happens in other regions).

But.

There is a shimmer of hope!

I open the Vogue website with ecosia, a browser that plants trees.

I click on the recent article featuring Taylor Swift.

I find brief happiness in new information about her upcoming 7th studio album, Lover.

Then, my skin starts being cleansed.

Swift talks about LGBTQ rights (YES, she has added the Q! My pansexual ass feels represented!).

She talks about sexism. She talks about when she was sexually assaulted and repeatedly said the word 'ass' in a courtroom. I have to grin.

She says 'Rights are being stripped from basically everyone who isn't a straight white cisgender male'. I almost start crying. My idol just called out homophobia, racism, transphobia and sexism in a single sentence.

Taylor Swift didn't save the world with any of these things. But she made my day brighter. And I know that many people will read this article. Some will feel represented and loved, heard, just like I did. Some will read certain words for the first time and then google them, gaining new understanding. Some will grasp certain concepts for the first time. Some will be mad after the first mention of the term LGBTQ and close the tab.

But Taylor Swift has a voice. A loud voice. One that will be heard by many. And she used it to speak about social injustices, demanding righta for those who are being stripped of them - while also making some excellent promo for her new album, Lover.

Taylor Swift didn't save the world with this article. But she made it a teeny, tiny bit better. And she made my day.

There should be official plants for the transgender community(s). Plant gender is hella complex. Ferns are both genders but neither later in life. Jack in the pulpit plants go from being male flowers to female. Many plants are monecious (both male and female flowers) including most pine trees. If a plant has both male and female parts on one flower it’s bisexual/perfect. Some plants can also make seeds asexually like dandelions.
