W ostatnich latach strasznie dużo się dzieje na świecie. Strasznie dużo przerażających i tragicznych rzeczy. Nie wiem jakie są powody polityczne tych wszystkich wydarzeń, ale chciałam chociaż trochę przyczynić się do wspierania tych niezwiązanych ludzi dotkniętych i cierpiących przez te wydarzenia…

unang araw ng january, nanuod kami ng rewind. sobrang late nito haha pero okay naman maganda, predictable. may ginayahan lang palang movie, sabi ng iba.

after christmas break, we also had our team dinner, dito namin ginamit yung prize na nakuha namin for winning the award last year.

PS: in the “the sun rises over Azov” the author obviously means the Sea of Azov, on which Mariupol City stands. Due to the flexdibility of Ukrainian language, the sea can and often is called simply “Azov” for short. But, due to same language flexibility, the song line, obviously on purpous, contains a double meaning - a reference to the regiment of Azov, which was named after that same sea, as it was based in Mariupol and defended it to the end with their lives in complete encirclement. So that song line can and should be read with double meaning - “the sun rises over the sea” and “the sun rises over the defenders of the city”. 

It should be noted that Azov name was mentioned all the time back then due to its publicity, but they were not the only ones fighting there - local police forces, the army regiments stationed there were also fighting with them. Some of them I knew personally. For example, I knew and followed on social media a police officer who was born and lived all his life in Mariupol and loved his city - he died in the last days of the siege. At some point during the siege he just stopped twitting and much later his death was confirmed and the body recovered.

PS 2: The City of Mary (Mother of Christ) is not just some poetism - it literally what “Mariupol” means from Greek language. Greeks made the first settlement there many centuries ago, which later became the city we know today. Before the war, modern Mariupol had a very big Greek community.

PS 3: another thing UA lang flexibility allows is animation of inanimate objects and things - which is often used in lyrics and poems for artistic effect. Hence, the song lines like “I dream of how we will have good times again with you together” or "we are staying with you" is the author talking to Mariupol itself.

Oh, well.

Damn. 4 years after, andito ulit ako. The past week, I never had ample sleep to say that I had slept well. Hindi ko rin talaga alam what caused all the sleepless night I had, so I just bear with it in a normal way.

Pero, damn. Hindi rin yata effective. May iba talaga. A night ago, I tweeted about how that night hit different. In-attribute ko siya sa formal na paguumpisa ko ng academic year with DepEd. Hindi ko alam kung kinakabahan ba ako dahil umpisa ng school year (parang first-day jitters), o dahil ba hindi ako handa. Hindi ako makatulog. Mas tama nga yata 'yong statement na away kong matulog. Natulog ako nang 1am the night before the opening of classes. That is something really unusual. It seemed like I dread the day coming.

Well, damn. Ngayon ko na-realize kung bakit ako natatakot matulog noong gabing iyon. Unconsciously, natakot yata ako. Natakot nga yata ako. 'Yong parang maglilipat ka sa bagong tv series na feeling... Coming off a splendid series na sobrang na-attach ka. 'Yong parang 'di ko pa kayang lumipat. Naman kasi, I felt relevant last school year. Surprised rin siguro ako dahil I never wanted to be on a DepEd school before, pero sobrang invested ako last school year. Sa sobrang invested ko, parang 'di ko kayang ilipat sa susunod na chapter ng teaching life ko. Deep inside, gusto ko pa rin 'yong relevant na ako. 'Yong magaling na ako. 'Yong embodiment ng culture na naitatag namin sa ABM, and 'yong culture na I think I am helping shape sa mga taong nakakahalibilo ko. 'Yong Bravery. Oo. 'Yong Bravery nga rin yata.

With all the damns na sinabi ko, damn. Parang mahirap ha. Pero kanina ko lang rin na-realize na kailangan ko nang i-employ 'yong lagi kong sinasabi na may panahon sa bawat pagkakataon. 'We will continue moving forward. And with each coming situation, we do better.' Habang nasa school ako kanina, I think marami talagang nagbago. The faculty room at 'yong mga tao doon, the classroom placement at 'yong mga tao doon, ah basta. Marami. Hindi ko yata matanggap na hindi na ako relevant enough. Pero, nanghihinayang ako sa energy na binubuhos ko sa pagiisip ng 'what was.' Parang wala rin namang nagagawa.

So, damn. Tapos na nga 'yong era na iyon. At ngayon ring moment na ito, na-realize ko na the energy na binubuhos ko sa pagiisip noon ay ie-exert ko sa pagbuo ulit ng bagong kultura. Not in contention with what was last year, pero filling that void satisfies my soul. Selfish ba? Ah, ewan. Meron nang bago. At sa paglipas ng panahon, dapat ko nalang sigurong isipin na ang panahon na ito ay for the people I am with at the present time. I like them. I think I do. Though mayroon agad akong dalawang student na nag-cut ng classes (unreported), I think I can do more. And sana, I get to do more. Nagtanong nga ako kung ilan ang honor students sakanila, isa lang ang nagtaas ng kamay. Nagulat ako, pero natuwa ako. Kasi, dito, I can emphasize more how we can be more of what the world needs ua to be more than the grades that we get. Parang ganon.

Damn. Hindi ko inaasahan na magsusulat ako ng ganito. May nabasa lang akong lengthy post, napagaya na ako. Naging inspiration ko na yata... Ah, basta. I have said so much na. Go nalang sa next part. Next chapter. Until we become.
