Not to step in the Discourse for the nth time, but this show did not spend multiple seasons establishing that Eddie's relationship with Shannon was a fundamental part of him, that she was his first love, that her rejection and then loss wrecked him, and that he still isn't over it completely, for y'all to reduce everything about them down to "they got married because she got pregnant."

i think in general a good assumption to make is if my character has something non-cishetallo about them then i don’t really want that to be messed with if i don’t okay it

i gave that identity to them for a reason

so if it’s a cis character, then i likely don’t care about people messing with their gender or anything. make entre a trans man, trans woman, nb, agender, genderqueer idc rly. do the same thing to daisy if you want. or kian. etc.

but if you messed the same way with spook (in a non-canon way because spook did have a Journey before it found the comfy agender vibes) then i’d be unhappy with seeing it

or ace because he’s a trans man or eren who’s a trans woman

same thing goes for orientations except i don’t think i even have a single canonly heterosexual character besides characters related to ocs (like Ace’s dad is probably straight idk)

i just don’t want things to get out of hand if you know what i mean. i’m fine with people seeing themselves in my characters, but just don’t turn it into something that it’s very much not

i don’t wanna be like “oh yeah lesbian entre!” but in the future i have entre being with men… i say in the future as if he’s not. currently. nearly exclusively shipped with men. so yeah you see right there that immediately contradicts that 😭 (he’s into non-men too i swear it’s just whenever i offer him on the shipping table everyone gives me more men. and the women he’s taken an actual interest in either don’t reciprocate or are taken. it’s rough out here for a bi guy.)

on the flip-side i have toni who is an actual butch lesbian and is only ever going to be shipped with non-men so it’d be not great if someone wanted her to be pansexual or smth like that’s just not what she is

if you GENUINELY think that casting Hunter Schafer as Zelda WHEN SHE LOOKS LIKE THE ZELDA is an issue GTFO. Like holy shit how is it that trans people, more specifically TRANS WOMEN being in the media is such an issue in the big '25?

Out of all the series you could've possibly bitched about, you chose the one series where gender is a VERY unspecified concept, where literally ANYONE can present in a masculine or feminine way and not a SINGLE citizen gives a flying fuck.

I mean FFS, the main character is THE DEFINITION of gender-neutral/I'm-going-to-present-how-I-want. If you're going to bitch about live adaptations for video games, do it for concern of not following canon, or messing up a pivotal scene, not for what's in an actor/actress' pants.

Sydney Sweeney looks absolutely NOTHING like Zelda unless you are basing that upon skin colour and somewhat her hair colour (but not really).

And I know the point isn't even really about Sidney Sweeny being cast, it's about people STILL being uncomfortable with trans people and trans women in media space which is disgusting within itself and honestly a bit puzzling considering women of all kinds weren't allowed to act whatsoever for a VERY long time and were played by men, but to hell with that I guess.

A whole bunch of people need to wake up real quick, because the fact that there is still an issue with queer people being represented and present in media in any way, shape, or form is disgusting. We should be able to be out and proud of who we are without risking ridicule, violence, and hate from the general public. This debate is so out-dated and pointless because queer people have always existed, no matter if they were out or not.

Hunter Schaffer is a woman. And if you don't want to acknowledge that, then so be it. She looks like the splitting image of Zelda (more specifically Twilight Princess) and she is arguably the closest person they'll get for casting if they're going for that rendition of Zelda.

The LoZ series has always been somewhat subtly pro-LGBTQ. You chose the absolute wrong fandom to try and complain about casting a queer actor (gender neutral term pls don't come after me) when a fair amount of characters present both fem and masc either in their canon designs or with customized outfits (like BOTW or Echoes of Wisdom).

Please be a cis/het prick in another fandom space. Fuck you.
