Urban game

I dette prosjektet skulle vi lage et urbant spill og en companion app som skulle gi oppgaver/instrukser/hjelp.

På denne oppgaven var jeg på gruppe med Signe S, Carine, Yunuz og Jonas. På grunn av sykdom var vi noe tynt bemannet de første dagene, men vi fikk startet med utviklingen av spillet og de ulike konseptene. Vi startet med en slags skattejakt-variant, men vi synes det ble litt for slow-paced og skrotet dermed det. Vi hadde i hele tatt en veldig flytende eller kaotisk konseptutvikling og vi bestemte oss sent på fredag for hvordan vi ville spillet skulle foregå. Dynamikken i gruppa var god, og vi hadde ingen spesielt utdelte roller, noe som gjorde at spillet ble ganske gjennomført mtp tema, konsept og spillmekanikk.

Spillet vårt heter "Kampen om Vulkan" og baserer seg på kulthelten "Vulkanpusen", eller Pelle, som katta heter. Vulkanpusen kjemper mot kråkene, "Kråka Klo" om eierskapet over Vulkan. Spillet er oppgavebasert med 2 lag med 2-3 spillere på hvert lag. Utfordringene til Vulkanpus-laget har utfordringer som etterligner kattenes adferd, og for kråkene er det oppgaver som etterligner kråkenes adferd. For hver oppgave som gjennomføres får du en mynt, i tillegg kan du finne ekstra mynter på spillområdet som kan hjelpe deg å vinne spillet. Spillet stopper når det ene laget har gjort alle utfordringene.

Fra første playtest til siste gjorde vi flere endringer; fjernet tidtaking, laget flere utfordringer, "snillere" utfordringer, reward-system med mynter, fjernet at laget selv måtte film for å evaluere gjennomføringen av oppgavene og til slutt lagt til ekstra mynter i spillet for å få flere poeng og mindre sjanse for uavgjort.

Alt-i-alt en veldig gøy oppgave, men også utfordrende å kombinere et spill med både fysisk og digitale komponenter.

The trouble with self-consciously edgy urban fantasy RPGs which are explicitly set in the real world is that they always get fixated on the Second World War, and there's literally no good way to speculate about whether Hitler was a vampire or whatever – not only is it tasteless, it's done. It was cliché even in the 1990s, and it hasn't become any less cliché since. Like, at least switch up the war – I want to see an edgy urban fantasy RPG whose Secret History™ revolves around the proposition that Archduke Franz Ferdinand was from space.

The Kickstarter for Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy is Live!!

Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy is our team’s debut TTRPG, over three years in the making! The campaign will run from April 10th to May 10th!

How far would you go to learn the truth?

Play amateur detectives caught up in things they barely understand, and explore how the lives of your characters unravel as they push themselves to dig deeper into the unknown!

Tense investigations!

Delve into an investigation-focused mystery and horror system that lets players take initiative and use their characters’ unique strengths to find clues and deduce conclusions themselves. A few bad rolls won’t get the party hopelessly stuck, but at the same time Eureka respects their intellect and lets them take charge of solving the mystery!

Character-driven gameplay!

Stats and abilities are based on who your character is as a person. Freeform character creation allows you to build a totally unique little guy, and have a totally unique gameplay experience with him! This is supported by the backbone of the Composure mechanic. Stress, fear, fatigue, and hunger will wear your investigators down as they trudge deeper into the unknown. Food, sleep, and connections with their fellow investigators are the only way to keep them going!

Secrets inside and out! 

Any investigator could be a monster, helping their friends while trying not to reveal their true natures. The party will learn to trust and rely on each other, or explode into a tangled net of drama!

Intense, tactical combat! 

Hits are devastating, and misses are unpredictable–firing a gun will always change the situation somehow, for better or for worse!

Evocative artwork from talented femme-fatales @chaospyromancy and @qsycomplainsalot and the mysterious @theblackwarden paint a gorgeously-realized portrait of a world with shadows lurking in every corner.

Elegantly designed and thoroughly playtested, Eureka represents the culmination of three years of near-daily work from our team, as well as a lot of our own money. We are almost at the end, we just need some financial support to put the finishing touches on it and make the final push to get it ready for official release!

Quentin, more affectionately known as Quan, was your childhood friend. After he moved overseas, the weekly texts you sent him fizzled into nothing but a lost friendship.

Since then, he's returned to Singapore as a forensics pathologist and researcher under your organisation. Whether you like it or not, you have to no choice but to work with him for most of your investigations.

You've never quite met someone like Reyna. A halfling with a demon mother and a human father. Being raised in Singapore all her life with little knowledge of her parents, it's natural that Reyna would come to the ISOE for help at the mere instance of a fox tail and white fur.

You've been tasked to help her mask and get comfortable with her supernatural powers, but she won't make it easy for you. After all, foxes do bite.

My family doesn't have a good history with the paranormals. When I was seven, my sister got kidnapped by a vampire. Years earlier, my aunt disappeared with a faerie. The sight of them with a supernatural was the last any one of us could witness. It's as if they were erased from existence.

Mom and Dad try to equip me against these creatures. The idea that one of us will disappear again is too much to bear. But when a certain supernatural comes into my life, revealing a lot more about me that my family could ever know, I wonder if all those years of training could prepare me enough for this.

My friends are making a ttrpg where you can play as monster mystery investigators. Needless to say I've been having a blast designing monster girls! This cute little murder blanket here is the Thing From Beyond, an alien shafeshifter with very particular dietary restrictions. (It's people!!) It's just one of the several playable monsters that Eureka has to offer. The TFB is quite special as it's a Eureka exclusive creation and based heavily off of great movie monsters like The Thing, The Blob, and many more!
