....you can see it in my writing as far back as 2003...
"If you use em dash in your works, it makes them look AI generated. No real human uses em dash."
Imaging thinking actual human writers are Not Real because they use... professional writing in their works.
Imagine thinking millions of people who have been using em dash way before AI becomes a thing are all robots.

You Know Who You Are by Christina Knowles
People often mention their pet peeves. I really didn’t think I had very many until I started to think about it. I mean, I’m pretty easy to get along with, and I don’t usually get upset about little things. I do have a touch of OCD about a few things, and I’m kind of particular about how I like things done, but I don’t believe I really put that burden on the people around me—at least I try not to.…

Twenty something year old Danny becomes a preschool teacher to a class of young meta and liminal kids, he helps to keep the kids calm when they discover their abilities and is genuinely one of the better teachers at the school. He's also a part time member of the Justice League. He's in the middle of a meeting when he gets a call from a freaked out substitute teacher saying one of the kids is stuck halfway through the wall and doesn't know what to do. Danny excuses himself and explains that one of his kids is having a small problem and he'll be right back and then leaves not realizing the chaos he left behind in his wake as the Justice League believe that Phantom has multiple kids and is a single father
I love teacher!Danny AUs, they are always so wacky and fun. And this seems so sweet! I love misunderstanding plots where the misunderstanding is something super simple. And plots where characters think someone is talking about their children children, when they’re actually talking about their students or something. Basically I love this prompt <3
So the JL know Danny is Phantom and stuff, probably are also away that’s he’s a ghost. Danny says that one of his kids is stuck in a wall at school and the substitute teacher is freaking out, so he’s gotta go real quick. Once he leaves one of the members(I’m thinking Flash because…I like him)is like, “Soo…wanna bet on how many kids he has? I’m guessing three-no-four.” The meeting quickly devolves into this conversation, until Batman or someone else steers it back.
After the meeting, rumors spread through the JL about Danny’s kids, and many bets are made. It takes them a while for everyone to figure out that Danny is just a teacher and not a father. Some figure it out faster than others though, but they think it would be funnier if they go along with the father Danny idea. Batman definitely knows what’s going on, he should know what Danny’s job is at the very least. He does consider the fact that maybe he might be a father, but that thought is short lived.
#danny phantom#dp x dc#dpxdc#anon ask#revenant prompted#also anon can you please use a bit more punctuation next time? it’s a bit hard to read like this-especially the last sentence.#sorry I’m usually tired when I read these which makes things harder. and I also know that run-on sentences can be hard to read for others#no hate only peace and (platonic) love

Dad | C Keller
-
“Go, Daddy, go!”
Marlee’s excited giggles filled the living room as she bounced on the couch, her tiny Coyotes jersey nearly swallowing her small frame. Her eyes were glued to the TV, her little fists clenched in excitement. It was one of her favorite things—watching her dad play hockey.
You smiled from your spot beside her, sipping your tea, enjoying the moment. These nights had become a routine: just you and Marlee, watching Clayton’s games when he was on the road. It never got easier, not having him home, but seeing how much your daughter adored him made the distance a little more bearable.
“He’s so fast!” Marlee declared, bouncing up and down.
“He sure is, baby.”
But the moment of joy shattered in an instant.
It happened so fast. One second, Clayton was racing down the ice. The next, he was colliding with the boards at an awkward angle, the sickening thud of impact making your stomach drop. He crumpled to the ice, unmoving.
The broadcast cut to a close-up of him, and your heart clenched at the sight of his face twisted in pain.
“Daddy?” Marlee’s voice was small now, unsure.
You barely processed the way your hands trembled as you grabbed the remote and turned up the volume. The commentators were talking—Clayton had gone into the boards hard, wasn’t getting up yet. Trainers rushed onto the ice.
Marlee turned to you, big eyes welling with tears. “Why isn’t Daddy getting up?”
You swallowed past the lump in your throat, forcing yourself to stay calm. “They’re just making sure he’s okay, sweetie.”
Marlee wasn’t convinced. She looked back at the screen, her little face crumpling as Clayton still hadn’t moved much.
Her tiny fingers gripped your arm. “Mommy, he’s hurt!” Her voice cracked, and suddenly she was sobbing. “I want Daddy!”
Your heart shattered at the sound.
You pulled her into your lap, wrapping your arms around her tightly. “Shhh, baby. I know. I know you want Daddy.” You pressed kisses into her hair, smoothing her back as her little body shook with sobs. “He’s so strong, Marlee. He’s got lots of people taking care of him.”
“But what if—what if he—” She couldn’t even finish the sentence, her breath hitching.
It broke you to see her like this, terrified, her whole world crumbling because her daddy was hurt. You felt it too—the fear, the helplessness—but you had to be strong for her.
You kissed the top of her head again. “Daddy is the toughest person I know, Marlee. Remember when he got a boo-boo on his arm last year? He was okay, wasn’t he?”
Marlee sniffled, nodding hesitantly.
“This time, it just might take a little longer. But he’s going to be okay.” You hoped your voice sounded more confident than you felt.
Marlee curled into you, hiccuping between sobs as the game went to commercial. “I just want Daddy,” she mumbled into your shirt.
“I know, baby.” You rubbed slow circles on her back. “Me too.”
It felt like forever before Clayton finally texted you.
I’m okay. Sore, but okay. Will call you soon.
The relief hit so hard you nearly burst into tears.
“Daddy’s okay, baby,” you whispered to Marlee, who had finally dozed off in your arms from crying so hard. She stirred at the sound of your voice, rubbing her tired eyes.
Her little head shot up. “Really?”
You smiled and kissed her forehead. “Really. He said he’s sore but okay.”
Marlee exhaled shakily, but the tension in her tiny body eased just a little. “Can I talk to him?”
“Of course, baby. Just wait a little longer, okay?”
And when Clayton finally FaceTimed, Marlee nearly dove out of your arms trying to grab the phone.
“Daddy!”
“Hey, sweetheart,” Clayton’s voice was soft, and despite the exhaustion in his eyes, he managed a smile. He was already in sweats, sitting on a couch in the locker room with an ice pack strapped to his shoulder.
Marlee frowned, her lip wobbling again. “You got hurt.”
“I did, but I’m okay,” Clayton reassured her. “Just a little sore.”
“But you didn’t get up!” She sniffled. “I was scared, Daddy.”
Clayton’s face softened. “I know, baby. I’m so sorry.” His voice was thick with guilt. “But you don’t have to be scared, okay? The doctors are taking really good care of me.”
Marlee’s fingers curled around the phone. “Are you coming home now?”
“Not just yet, sweetheart. But I promise I will soon, and I’ll give you the biggest hugs.”
Marlee pouted. “I want a hug now.”
You had to bite your lip to keep from crying again.
Clayton’s voice was gentle. “I know, baby. I do too.”
There was a pause, and then Marlee held up her stuffed animal—her favorite little coyote plush that Clayton had gotten her at a game months ago. “I cuddled Howler all night ’cause I missed you.”
Clayton chuckled softly. “That’s a good idea. You keep cuddling Howler, and before you know it, I’ll be home.”
“Okay…” Marlee’s sniffles were slowing now, but she still looked worried. “Daddy?”
“Yeah, sweetheart?”
“You promise you’re really okay?”
Clayton nodded. “I promise. And you know what?”
“What?”
“You made me feel even better just by talking to me,” he said, smiling. “You always do.”
A small smile finally broke across Marlee’s face. “Really?”
“Really.”
She snuggled closer into your arms, finally relaxing. “I love you, Daddy.”
“I love you more, baby girl.”
Later that night, once Marlee had finally fallen asleep with her coyote plush tucked against her chest, Clayton called again.
“Hey, babe,” you whispered, stepping out onto the balcony so you wouldn’t wake your daughter. The desert air was cool, a welcome contrast to the warmth of your home.
“Hey.” Clayton sighed. “God, that was awful. I hate that she was so scared.”
“She just loves you so much.” You leaned against the railing. “She wouldn’t stop crying, Clayton. It killed me.”
“I know,” he murmured. “I wish I could’ve been there.”
“You did everything you could.”
He exhaled slowly. “I’ll be home soon.”
“I know.”
And for now, that was enough.
Because even hurt, even miles away, Clay was still the best dad in the world.

au where SQQ does undergo the 'qi-deviation' and is 'changed' but in reality the twin of Shen Jiu, Shen Yuan made a comment one day about how all Shen Jiu did was bitch about his martial siblings. Never one to turn down a golden opportunity,
Shen Jiu: bet
And so the twins decided to switch lives!
The qi-deviation is just so they can explain away any differences of temperament and so sj can hightail away easier.
Shen Yuan: this is going to be so easy
(spoiler. it wasn't)
Between useless sect meetings that could've been not even an email but a text message, reading fifteen different preteens attempts to sneak in dick jokes into their poetry assignments, the head cook alerting him to the fact that they've somehow run out of rice??? They're the greatest cultivation sect??? How does that happen???
Anyway, two of his Hall masters eloping together and taking an extended honeymoon (he's happy for them, but. Who's going to teach those classes now??? Him. Apparently.), sect politics and his 'martial siblings' barely even attempting a farce of civility or courtesy AND his guqin strings needing to be replaced and restrung ?
Shen Yuan is sorry 🙏🙏please come back🙏🙏🙏
Cue the allotted period of switching ending and Shen Yuan dramatically throwing the fan on the ground as Shen Jiu rolls up and goes "thanks for the vacation didi"
#then it was shen yuan's turn to bitch about their martial siblings#all of cang qiong in the background:#we've been bamboozled#there are two funny thing you could do with yue qingyuan: one. he knew the whole time and totally went#“should we check for possession by making Xiao 'jiu' drawing hong jing? of course. infact. we should use ALL of the possession detecting#artifacts we have. for safety purposes.“#“sect leader why are you mailing a letter that says 'hope you're enjoying your vacation -love qi-ge'?”#or two: he's fooled as well and just thinks he's projecting his desire to see the tiny xiao yuan who he and xiao jiu lost all those years#ago again. and that the grief of loosing shen yuan is what changed shen jiu into the man that he is today#so that maybe loosing his memories. also had him loose that grief. and that maybe underneath the weighty mould of the past. shen jiu and#xiao yuan really were alike after all#svsss#svsss au#svsss parent trap au?#shen yuan#shen qingqiu#shen jiu#original shen qingqiu#yue qingyuan#cang qiong#cang qiong mountain sect peak lords#realizing i forgot the second option was supposed to be funny#there are so many errors in my spelling and punctuation its not even funny. ignore it please i am procrastinating on stuff

A troop of medieval rabbits from The Hours of Jeanne d’Evreux, Queen of France (Jean Pucelle // French // ca. 1324-1328 // The Met)
#rabbits have always been. Like That#most of these look like wild rabbits#but I SUSPECT the one eating the leaf in the second to last excerpt may be a domestic rabbit#based on the coat color#(unless that’s just the shading)#also I really love the fact that rabbits were used as sort of end punctuation all the time#rabbits#medieval#middle ages#manuscript#monkposting

I really love this parallel between Gertrude and Jon on humanity (vague tma spoilers)
Gertrude "you were the one so insistent on staying human" Robinson lost everything that makes her human.
Sure, she never became a proper avatar and technically stayed human, but she didn't allow herself to love, to trust, to connect, because every time she did, she'd lose something and someone, so she became cold, she built walls, she took any risk, she'd go as far as she needed to, if it meant success.
It doesn't help that all of her actions lead to other people, servants and avatars to either despise and fear her or hold a great respect towards her. Either way it gets her what she wants.

You could forever argue about what kind of person all of that makes her, yet she was a person. Good, flawed or bad, she was a person and she was human. At least in the most technical most polished way.
But to say she never cared? That would be completely wrong. She held a cold demeanor and a strong confident facade, but deep down she cared.
To speak with such fondness of someone you've never properly interacted with? Is it not human? Yes, Agnes was her anchor, but still. There is something so warm about the way Gertrude talks about her, is curious about her.

To worry about the effects and ethics of your power, to refuse to embrace it, wouldn't that too be human?

And Gerry was probably the last person she genuinely loved and cared for. Gertrude's last tie to humanity, her last anchor and her last reason.

So when he died, when there was nothing left, her tasks, her goals became just some mundane things to take care of. Yes, for the greater good, for the sake of the world, but after you lose everything to care for, to come back to, what's saving the world you already grew so cold towards? Is it really driven by love, dedication, loyalty or connection? Or is it driven by revenge at best, and muscle memory at worst, simply because there is nothing left, but yet another task in your life?
Gertrude, undoubtedly, was human in this very technical, almost artificial way, and she tried her best to remove every ounce of humanity she had, even if she couldn't truly succeed.
On the other hand, Jon stayed so human, it's killing him. Sure, he became an avatar, he stopped being human in a literal sense, but he loves, he cares about people. He has anchors, he has people he mourns, he has people he loves, he has a reason. And that at the same time gives him power and weakens him enormously.
Him choosing to lose his humanity, to wake up, is the most human thing he could do. It's a choice to keep living, to keep fighting, to keep loving. A choice that he would regret over and over and over again as he thinks that he doesn't deserve to exist anymore, that his mere existence causes pain and suffering. And in a way it does.
So when people tell him that he's a monster he believes it. Maybe even more than they do.
It would be so much easier if he was a monster. If all the bad things he's done were driven by some power he was beneath of. If he was, he could just brush them off cause he can't help it, it's in his nature. "Is a thing evil when it simply obeys its own nature? When it embodies its nature?"
The thing is, he's not. He's not evil, he's not a monster, not a vampire, not a doll came to life, not the distortion. He did not come back wrong.

His choice to keep feeding is his own and that horrifies him so much. This choice not to starve, to keep living and to keep enjoying is a very human choice, it is not an instinct. The same way it was his choice to keep reading, to keep being involved. Yes, it's not fair. It's not a fair price for curiousity and it's not a fair price for living. But it's the reality of things.
Do you think he ever regretted setting a person free, even though that could easily kill him? Do you think that he ever regretted setting his foot into that coffin to save someone, who tried to kill him? Do you think he ever regretted choosing to save his loved one over finally getting a chance to kill the man, who ruined his life? Because I sure don't.
All of his mistakes, his sacrifices, all of his choices, all of it was caused by his humanity. Curiosity, love, hatred and fear, but never instinct. And that's what makes him human in all the ways that truly matter.
So when he finds out that there's a chance it all could be just a setup, it scares him. Because he thinks that it strips him of his humanity, of his choices and his whole life.

Headcanon that instead of signing his threats Red Hood uses semicolons liberally (and correctly) because nobody up to their eyeballs in crime in his part of Gotham uses semicolons. ‘Don’t even try to run; I know all of your hideouts’ is a Certified Red Hood Threat. ‘I’m always watching; every minute every second’ is someone impersonating Red Hood.
#this results in a significant increase in the number of people who know how to use semicolons#because the criminals want to know if a message is from hood so they need to take it seriously#and the civilians need to know if an offer to help is genuine or a trick#the semicolon eventually becomes an unreliable way of telling real red hood messages from fake ones#because now everyone knows how to use a semicolon#meanwhile Jason rubs his hands together and gleefully mutters that it’s all going according to keikaku#and by keikaku he means his long term plan to increase literacy rates in crime alley#Red Hood#Jason Todd#DC#DCU#DC Red Hood#punctuation
