I'm starting to realise people don't know how to filter the tags on ao3 like that's the best part of the site how do you find your fics without using them? Sure it's great to find fics on tumblr or twitter but that's also probably why people keep complaining to big creators about what they're writing if you don't wanna see something just filter the tag it's so simple lol

(also people complain about not finding the couple they want as the main, you can filter through their povs or their name and centric, literally anything with their name or the ship name lol) I admit I spent years on the fandom not liking ao3 because I hate to read there with the small letters but then I learned how to use the tags and my life changed

I think this a good time (again) to talk about how important it is to reblog tags with posts you reblog. Especially if it's content that is;

Gore

Death

Suicide

Pornography or nudity (light or hard)

Incest

Drug use (heavy or light)

Politics

Mentions or depictions of rape and torture

Flashing/strobing images and colors

I litterally had to block an artist whose art I absolutely loved because Tumblr kept showing me their reblogs, and it was NOTHING but a tag i have BLOCKED and hate to look at, and I couldn't take anymore of it. All because they NEVER EVER carried over the triggering/tw tags from the original posts.

The reason we have tags is to 1) find content related to that tag easily, and 2) to block content related to that tag from the dashboard so you don't get fucking flashbanged by something that you never wanted to see in your life.

What happens when you don't? Well you can scarr someone for life, trigger PTSD, send someone into relapse (drugs specifically), or in the flashing/strobeing lights and colors case, SEND SOMEONE INTO A FUCKING EPILEPTIC SEIZURE.

So, if the content you are posting or reblogging is one or multiple of the above list, for the love of fucking people and humanity itself,

USE THE FUCKING TAGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have type 2 Narcolepsy. Studies have shown that serious viral infections can cause people to develop Narcolepsy if they are already genetically susceptible to having it. This includes covid. That is what happened to me.
