Y/n watched the exchange between her father and his friend Ned Stark Warden of the North. It was very odd but she thought it was nice that they were such good friends that they still joked around with each other. She didn’t see her father act so freely like this often. It was a rare welcome sight.
“So I take it this is your oldest.” King Robert sighed looking at the eldest of Ned’s children with a scrutinizing gaze before breaking out into a smile.
“Yes, this is Robb.” Ned introduced his oldest son to his friend.
Robert slapped a hand on the young man’s shoulder, smiling widely. “You're a handsome young lad.”
Robb tried to contain his blushing that he was sure he was doing. “Thank you, your Grace.”
“You should meet my oldest. Y/n!” Robert called over his oldest daughter, but not before sparing a knowing glance to Ned. As Y/n came to stand next to her father, smiling politely at the Stark family before her. “This is my oldest. A year younger than you I believe.”
“Princess.” Robb bowed, before looking at the princess. She had caught his eye when she first entered Winterfell on horse back alongside her uncle. He could not deny she was gorgeous, and he couldn’t believe how fast he had started to fall for her.
“Mi’ Lord.” Y/n curtised, biting her cheek. Thus Robb Stark was by far one of the most handsome men she had ever seen. And she had seen a lot of people growing up in KingsLanding. She wondered if his personality was as nice as his looks.
“Would you like a tour of  Winterfell?” Robb asked, offering a way for them to talk and get to know each other a bit. He also was one of the most qualified people to show her around.
“I would love one.” She smiled. Looping her arm through his and the two young adults that in some ways are still kids went off exploring.
While the two went off getting to know each other and everyone else did God knows what, King Robert and Net Stark headed down to the crypts.
“Have you told your son?” Robert asked once they were done talking about Ned’s sister. The King was curious if his friend's son had offered to show his daughter around on his own or out of duty.
“Not yet.” Nod squinted, he didn’t like the idea of taking this choice from his son. But the other part, this was a good alliance, and you don’t deny a king.
“And why not?” Robert had told Ned of the idea to marry their oldest months ago. But to be fair he didn’t tell his daughter either.
“Because I wanted to give them a chance to fall in love before knowing they might be betrothed.” Ned explained his reasonsings, and even though Robert would never admit it he admired Ned’s heart and how he was trying to make this a better situation for their children. It was better than just throwing them together.
“Very well. I didn’t tell my daughter either. She would’ve fought me on coming.” He chuckled. Y/n would’ve tried to fight him or talk him out of it, and it might’ve worked even the slightest. Out of all his children she was the only one that had a somewhat relationship with him.
“They’d be more reluctant if they knew about what we had planned. The two of them being in the dark might lead to them actually gaining feelings for the other.” Ned just hoped that the two would get close and at least see they could make a marriage work. But he was truly hoping that maybe they could fall in love on their own and there wouldn’t be any hard feelings or reluctantness.
^     ^     ^
It had been a few weeks and things seemed to be working out for Y/n and Robb like Ned had hopped. Y/n seemed to fit right into the Stark family. She got along with all his children and they all act as if she’s one of them. Things between Robb and Y/n had taken some people by surprise. The two had been spending almost all their time together. They only separated to sleep it seemed like.
Ned was happy to see they had a lot in common. The two went horseback riding constantly and Y/n seemed to know how to use a bow and a sword no doubt thanks to her uncle. They didn’t even eat apart at meals.
Today Robb and Y/n had gone out riding, once they were far enough away from Winterfell the two dismounted their respective horses walking along next to each other.
“Are you having a good time in Winterfell Princess Y/n?” Robb asked, hoping that the time they’d spent together had been as enjoyable for her as it was for him.
Y/n smiled, nudging him teasingly shoulder to shoulder. “Yes, I am as matter of fact. My favorite part is the company.”
Robb blushed looking down before looking back to her. Robb had no idea why she could so easily make him react like that, but she could and he didn’t mind it. “You flatter me y/n.”
“You’ve been flattering me the whole time I’ve been here. It’s only fair.” Y/n smiled. As they came to the set of trees that they had made their spot over the time she had been in the North.
Robb just stood there watching her for a moment. He never expected to fall in love with her when he first found out the King, Queen, and their children were coming to visit. But he had and he didn’t regret it. “If I may be bold and speak my mind, Princess?”
Y/n nodded, smiling back at him as she turned to face him. She noticed how he wasn’t right next to her and Y/n wondered what had made him stop and if it had to do with what was on his mind. “Go ahead. I won’t stop you.”
“During your time here in Winterfell I have become quite taken with you.” Robb stated walking over to her. He looked in her eye’s trying to notice how his works were being taken.
“And I you.” Y/n blushed, biting her lip at her response back to him admitting his feelings for her. Which she reciprocates.
“I have a proposal for you Princess Y/n Baratheon.” Robb felt an air of convenience hit him at Y/n admitting she feels the same.
Y/n furrowed her brow, it confused her on why he was using her title and first and last name. “Go on Lord Stark.”
Robb took a deep breath, he knew what he wanted he just hoped she wanted it to. “We may not have known each other for very long or very well for the most part. But I would like for us to get to know each other better over time. If you’d like that of course.”
“I would.” Y/n nodded liking where he was going with this so far.
“Would you  also like it if we could become husband and wife, Lord and Lady.” Robb stepped right up to her, reaching out to intertwine their hands. Looking into her eye’s Robb reached up with one hand leaving the other one still in hers, he cupped the side of her face, “Would you do me the great honor and become my wife? For all my days till the end of my days?”
Y/n reached up with her free hand and cupped the back of his neck, while squeezing his hand holding hers. Looking up into his eyes with what could only be happiness and adoration Y/n answered. “I would love to.”
In her short time visiting the North Y/n had really connected with the Starks and of course Robb the most. Yes, she’d miss her siblings (minus Joffrey) and she'd miss her uncles but this felt like the better place for her. And as long as she has Robb, Y/n will always be happy.

Hi! I saw your post requesting asks about MK asks and I have no idea why I'm so obsessed with characters from a game I've never played but here we are.
Can I request a fem!reader x MK1 Smoke where reader saves Smoke during the battle at the end on the pyramid and they fight side by side until the end where they finally confess their feelings and it ends with fluff? I just wanna see Tomas happy. Thanks in advance!
AN: Hello! I hope this is to your liking! I love Smoke, and I hope I was able to write his character correctly. This was super fun to write. This wasn't proof read.
Notes: Female Reader and Fluff
Tumblr media
Before Armageddon began you and Smoke were talking about the fights to be had. His face is full of concern and his voice of sincerity. He calls your name “I think you should stay back, and let the others and I deal with this.” You look slightly disappointed. You want to protect him and your friends. Though you won’t complain that he is worried about your safety during this fight that could destroy your home.
“Don’t worry Tomas. I don’t want you to worry too much. Just focus on what’s about to happen.”
The two exchange smiles. Then the fight began. You keep distance from him. Fighting when necessary. You want to stay somewhat close to Tomas in case he gets into major trouble. You want him to stay safe. Not just because he is your closest friend, but because he is the one that you want to give your heart to.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
The battle against the Titan Deadly Alliance is happening now. Smoke fought many battles to get to this moment. Seeing variants of friends, foes, and some being hybrids of the two. He wants to finish this final fight. He hopes you are safe. With Armageddon happening now he just wants to protect you. When he is dodging attacks from the two sorcerers he makes a mistake. He stumbles. Almost face first.
Smoke notices that someone has appeared in front of him. He sees you. He’s shocked that you are trying to fight both Shang Tsung and Quan Chi to help him out. He decides that now isn’t to scold you for almost getting injured in this fight.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
The two of you work together to defeat them. After the battle you two stand side by side. He looks at you with a worried expression. “That was extremely dangerous,” he says your name, “I had things handled.”
Shuffling your feet. “I just didn’t want to see you hurt. It makes me sad just thinking about it…”
“I can say the same about you. Honestly I’ve been wanting to say this for a while now, but I wasn’t sure how to exactly tell you this.”
You look each other in the eyes. Your ears turn a shade of red, while his cheeks are dusted with a pink color. The moment is peaceful. Though the exact location may not be exactly what others would count as ‘romantic’.
“I like you. I think about you more than I think I should. During my training sessions I think of ways I can just impress you.” He confesses his true feelings for you. You smile at him gently resting your hands on his face. You lean in and press your lips to his for a simple and light kiss. Then move to whisper in his ear “Want to go to Madam Bo’s after this?”

"Supernova trio stranded on the wild island"
Law: Alright. We need to find water source first. Then build a camp nearby, but not too close to avoid the mosquito attack. Then we should check surroundings for food. Our best course of actions is to look for bird nests and eat the eggs in them. Do not eat any berry, they might be poisonous, and under any circumstances DO NOT eat the meat without thermic processing first. Am I being clea-...
Kid and Luffy who's sit on top of freshly killed bear and eating its meat while fully covered in blood: Huh? Why can't we eat raw meat??
Law: ARE FUCKING SHITTIN ME RIGHT NOW-
________________
I hc that Kid and Luffy have pretty similar childhood.
Kid was a feral child, but instead of having home to sleep or people to care about him, he had nothing, but himself. He also considers Killer his brother or just something like a brother. Perhaps he didn't even knew what the brother/sister/father/mother was, so he just figured that Killer is something that Kid don't want kill.
Killer wasn't a feral child from his birth like Kid was, but instead was left alone on the island by his parents. He knew a lot and was hanging out with Kid to not feel lonely and in danger all the time. Of course, wild life got him twisted too, but he's still pretty intelligent.
They grow protective of each other, hanging out, playing and fighting with the others.
I headcanon that their home was more of the trash island than the solid ground. There was enough of garbage to freely stand on it, but you could sometimes sink deep inside the trashy deep seas.
Killer just noticed that Kid loved doing stuff with the garbage, so he scavenged some engineering book and gifted to Kid. He went "The fuck's a book?", "It's a tones of paper glued together with words, that contains information. This one contains information about engineering", " The fuck's words???". They had to go... Through a lot of explanations Killer's childish brain could come up with. But Kid liked the gift when he understood what he was reading. He actually build a toy robot and was so happy about it. He decided to give it to Killer as a thank you present.
Then they met Victoria who became "a girl they don't want to kill so she can hang with them", and yes, Killer thought of them like siblings.
They kicked some asses, made friendships and alliances, had adventures and made promises to become pirates together.
And then Victoria dies. But unlike Sabo she dies for real. And Kid is devastated. Firstly, because he never thought that someone's death could make him feel so bad (and there were a lot of people and animals dying in here), and secondly, because he loved her dearly. And Killer as the most level-headed person in here (also really devastated, but had to remain calm, because Kid needed him) just stayed there trying to snap him out of it, but the only thing that Kid heard was a fainted "Kid!.. Kid?.. Kid. Don't look at her. Look at me. Look. At. Me. Calm down. I'm here. Please, just calm down. Please". When Kid finally looked at him he just saw how fucking scared and panicked and dirty and wet and bloody his friend was, and it just snapped him out of it.
Kid just brought together the other gang's and defeated the biggest and most dangerous gang in the whole island. I like to believe that after that he couldn't even look at Killer's face again, because the only thing he saw was his face that night. Killer was devastated and hurting much more. He was much intelligent and smart and clearly understood some things better than Kid did, and that's why Kid thought that something that Killer was going through was much worse than he had it. And Kid swore to become much stronger to never see that expression on Killer's face again. And Killer just understood that Kid would never look at his face as usual again, so he just covered it with mask, to make it easier for Kid to look him in the eyes, even if it was just holes.
I like to think that Kid, just like Law, sees Victoria in Luffy: the energetic, stubborn and freedom loving. At first he showed some interest in him, but then just made some parallels, and only then grew much more angry at Luffy for the things none of them couldn't control.
Ouch, that went too far into the angst from the funny silly feral boys doing funny silly feral stuff when their unferal and depressed boyfriend just being angry at them for breaking a lot of sanitary norms.

[“Here’s the other important note about prison writing communities: they aren’t collective hallelujahs. Typically, they are competitive and cliquey and composed of people fragmented and fractured by the experience of incarceration. Put simply: plenty of our cohort almost can’t stand each other. But together we clarify and contextualize each other. We offer peer support, and greater than that, we are an alliance.
A woman asked me sincerely a while back why I believe I thought I should be able to write and create despite the dark things I had done earlier in this lifetime. I considered her question for a second and told her, because if I don’t believe in myself and in my right to expression, who should? If I don’t fight to make the things that I create, that matter to me, then who will fight for me? We can ask the same of each other. In these prisons, our value has always been in our backs rather than in our minds. It is necessary to join forces. When confronting barriers like walls and fences and all that shitty concrete a mile thick with archaic social norms and laws put forth out of fear—amplification makes a difference. Our voices become vibrations that can disrupt the impersonal representations of the value given to us on this earth. Our voices, our work, make us people again. If we don’t take care of each other, or cultivate each other’s talents, then who do we expect will?”]

for the character ask game: kuai, hanzo, bi-han, and smoke with 12, 15-20, and 22 :)
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
Kuai: I like to think that in the 2nd timeline, post-alliance, kuai wouldve unknowingly taken some inspiration from hanzo's leadership of the shirai ryu to lead his own clan, reforming a lot of stifling rules to establish more of a community within the lin kuei members.
Hanzo: And similarly, especially after the trauma of having lost his entire clan, hanzo wouldve also unknowingly picked up a few things from kuai to lead the new shirai ryu, but rather than making changes to his clan's rules, he's doing most of the work on HIMSELF to lead it more "efficiently" and avoid past tragedies from happening again. Which, if mk11 didnt happened, would have resulted in both clans being similar enough that they have no issue partnering and temporarily switching members for missions, and, should it ever come to that, could even be merged as a single clan (as they once were after all), all thanks to the efforts of their grandmasters.
Bi-han: In the 1st and 2nd timeline, I wanna think bi-han initially did wanted to take the masters' attention and implied abuse away from kuai by being a cocky (but talented) little shit, but over the years the act became who he is as a person as he rose through the ranks to become the lin kuei's best assassin.
Smoke: 2nd timeline smoke literally Came Back Wrong, its impossible to tell where tomas the human boy sacrificed by a cult ends and where enenra the smoke demon begins, is he a human posessed by a demon? or a demon with a human's memory? He is neither completely from earthrealm nor the netherrealm, he belongs nowhere, hence why he has found a home in, and is extra protective of, the few friends he has made.
15. What's your favorite ship for this character? (Doesn't matter if it's canon or not.)
Subscorp for kuai and hanzo, Bireena for bi-han, and I guess Subsmoke wins by default for tomas (obv not the mk12 one). Im a basic bitch what can I say.
16. What's your least favorite ship for this character?
Everything else, im not a multishipper
17. What's a ship for this character you don't hate but it's not your favorite that you're fine with?
Again I guess I'll go with subsmoke
18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire?
Kuai and hanzo in the 2nd timeline over the course of three games... pretty good👍 (<- rewrote my brain chemistry). Bi-han and hanzo's rivalry is great. Smoke is underutilized but I do love that he and kuai will be friends in every timeline
19. How about a relationship they have in canon that you don't like?
EVERY relationship they all have could be better bc sadly we get our storytelling from a fucking fighting game, but I want kuai to have a better (not necessarily more positive) dynamic with frost, I want hanzo and harumi's relationship to be done justice, I want bi-han to have his childhood as well as kuai's explored and their history toward each other as brothers deepened (1st and 2nd timeline ESPECIALLY bc man. fuck mk12) and I want smoke to form one meaningful relationship that isnt tied to kuai.
20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?
Kuai: kitana
Hanzo: harumi/kenshi/jax/sonya (legends). For the loner of mk, he sure has a lot of bestie potential
Bi-han: sareena (the brotherhood of shadows really)/sektor & cyrax/fujin (I stand that he and fujin would have the funniest dynamic, especially as noob saibot. I want them to have a 80s buddy cop-like adventure together)
Smoke: jade/reptile/johnny
22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to ths character? Something you don't like?
WHEN ITS WRITTEN BY MY FRIENDS honestly my wants are simple: I just like when theyre written as adult men raised in a very isolated at best, oppressive at worst (for the lin kueis in particular) environment with lots of unadressed trauma, I also dont like when theyre written as TOO openly romantic, these four men are aaall about repression of feelings (hanzo a little less so) so it'd all be about the subtle, little things. and pining for ages.

OK, onto SS choice and the timeskip!
Due to when they let you save, I've actually played into the very start of the war phase, so I'll just say it here. I was kind of disappointed by how limp-wristed the whole Edelgard situation is? I expected some more "join me and we shall rule Fodlan" kind of thing, but Edelgard is very neutral and almost disinterested about it. Oh, you're not joining her? Oh well.
The Byleth relationship with Claude is rather detached because he has so little stakes in Fodlan and keeps hiding his actual background and motives for so long, but like the tradeoff is that they have no actual beef or conflict and just cooperate well. I kind of thought Edelgard would be more emotionally charged in some way and she... isn't really? Post timeskip, they go through the motions of starting a sword fight, but then just kinda... stop and... part ways... Not sure if Edelgard's rather under-played delivery is part of the issue. I'm not saying her voice actress is bad, but she doesn't really sell the character imo.
Anyway, I am as ever unimpressed by Edelgard.
Live blogging notes:
Edelgard going to Enbarr to be crowned is a secret.
Man, her dad looks very ill. The implication of her dialogue is that it's because of the "burden of the throne" but eeeeeh
Normally, the archbishop should act as a witness to the ceremony, though iirc the original JP script just had "bishop"...?
"By the covenant between the red blood and the white sword"
Man... Both Hubert in their support and Ionius IX here frame it as Edelgard being "stolen away to the Kingdom" but like, no, her mom took her there? And from what I understand, Edelgard was perfectly fine there. The real issue was when Thales posing as Arundel brought her back. But it seems that Edelgard doesn't actually remember that stuff, so are they purposefully lying to her?
It seems like Ionius IX saw his children experimented on. Edelgard mentions seeing him clench his fists until they bled.
Edelgard's first act: putting Duke Aegir in his place and basically imprisoning him in the palace (?)
Ionius IX and Edelgard both keep referring to how the fate of Fodlan is in her hands now, which is kind of lol given that she's technically only taking over one of three countries in Fodlan.
Oh, interesting. In GD (and I believe BL), you fight the Flame Emperor in the Tomb and then break their mask, revealing Edelgard. But here, Edelgard walks in as herself from the beginning and willingly reveals her identity.
Her wehehe evil henchguy states clearly that they're here to take the Crest Stones, and also the bones. Oh boy!
It's interesting that Edelgard can't just order her classmates to stand down. She's their Emperor, so by disobeying her, they're functionally all traitors. In general, I'm surprised we do battle with her initially and only choose whether to side with her after being ordered to kill her directly.
Despite what I kind of expected, Edelgard never really tries to recruit you and isn't at all surprised that you stand against her. Ngl, I expected a "join me and we can rule the galaxy together" pitch. Kinda disappointed...
Yeah, all the BE kids are like "so what if she's the Emperor, we're just gonna do our own thing" but without actually confronting what they're doing. (Update: Hubert at least obliquely threatens Ferdinand if you attack him, with "you have people you care about in the empire, right? think about what'll happen to them if you stand with the Church")
Edelgard's big speech is like "Church wants to rule Fodlan!" and "Church split up the empire to make kingdom and alliance, all to set us against each other" which, I cannot emphasize enough, doesn't really come across as an issue when there's no major history of conflict between the nations. The only actual post-independence conflict was the Hrym-Ordelia business which barely gets mentioned and is also the Empire's own fault... The gold and extravagance thing is just nonsense too.
Oh, lmao. Seteth says that Edelgard "demanded her own father relinquish the throne" but like... I was at her coronation. They either got lazy copy-pasting dialogue from other routes or assumed you'd totes side with her if you saw that scene.
The tone Rhea and Seteth take in regard to the "progenitor god" is a bit weird because Rhea in particular fluctuates between clearly considering Sothis her mother and her loss as a very personal one, and speaking of Sothis as her goddess and a much more detached authority figure.
Ferdinand says that half of the six big noble families declared support for Edelgard. Hubert's dad was assassinated, Bernie's dad is under house arrest and his wife is siding with Edelgard in his stead, and Ferdie's dad his been stripped of his PM position, his rank, and his lands.
Huh, a bunch of the church units auto-recruited.
You can recruit Hilda here, though I don't have enough of... probably axe ranks.
Dimitri has mysteriously come to the conclusion that Edelgard is responsible for Duscur. The month before, his explore dialogue was about how he hasn't been sleeping.
Anyway, time to kill off some children. I want no one coming to the promise day.
It is unexpectedly hard. Normal mode is so easy you have to be trying to lose on purpose, and even then it's hard to do.
The battle starts with the enemy already within the walls (Outer Wall on the map location). The Church is holding out for reinforcements that come in through the left and right entrances, but they are first taken by Imperial forces (Death Knight on the left, Hubert on the right), which have to be cleared out.
There are "Onagers" (basically catapults) that archers can use to fire in the town and "Fire Orbs" that mages can use next to the monastery inner walls.
There are two Winged Demonic Beasts with the Imperial forces. They have creepy masks and hold "Pointy Art(ificial) Crest Stones" which are "artificial Crest Stones with a distorted shape, produced in the Empire." They have enormous wings that are even a barrier ability (lol) and are noted as being very swift.
Rhea's class is Archbishop, she's using the Sword of Seiros (which is also mentioned in the class description lol) and Seiros Shield (interesting point: halves monster damage). She's got A in sword, reason, faith, and leadership, B in fists, but nothing in axes or bows, and only a D in lances. Her abilities include Sacred Power (gives boost to allies and lowers damage taken) and Charm. Walking buff point, I see.
After we repel them, Edelgard sends in the reserve troops and signals Arundel (Thales). (He comes in with more Demonic Beasts and also attacks Byleth and Rhea with dark magic... in his real form lmao, wonder if anyone noticed how their commander changed out for another dude somewhere along the line.)
I saw this before, but why does Claude fight with a sword in cutscenes? Sword here and sword in the Fort Mercius scene against Nader too. Also, funny that he and Dimitri are hanging out together for some reason.
Note that Byleth swings and extends the Sword of the Creator with enough force to shatter a Demonic Beast's mask and bodily throw it off the Immaculate One. Like, dang... those things are big and heavy??

Limited Life playlist
Explaining my song choices for the Limited Life section of my traffic series playlist
Rise up by Imagine Dragons: everyone reaching upwards, scraping the sky and striving for more. “I would always open up the door, always looking up for higher floors. Wanna see it all, give me more (rise, rise up).” As the game progresses, players grow in boldness, even as their time whittles downward. “The more I strain, the less I fear. And the more I reach, the more I fade away. The darkness right in front of me, oh, it’s calling out and I won’t walk away.”
River Run by Cereus Bright: Martyn starting to take risks, striving for success and preparing for it to blow up in his face. The chance of victory is worth it, he’s already laying the foundations, even if it marks his doom. “I’d rather fall than stay on the ground. I used to play it safe, walled up my heart to escape. Hiding from beauty and from pain, this is no way to live. Time for these to win.” He teams with Scott but it’s a looser alliance than he’d ever voice. “These are murky waters, oh the farther we go down.”
Mr Hyde by Braden Bales: Martyn getting the bogeyman curse and running away so he doesn’t turn on Scott. “I promise I didn’t want this, I can’t believe I’m so lost. I’m turning into Mr Hyde, I think he’ll make you cry. […] It’s not a pretty sight, I lost when I tried to fight him.” Martyn eventually satiates the curse and heads back to Scott, but I also enjoy the potential double meaning of this song not only representing the bogeyman curse, but also Martyn’s own festering ambition.
Pitchfork Kids by AJR: With Scott having by far the most time, he and Martyn become the server’s primary targets. “When the skies are open, we’ll still be singing this: I know they’re coming for me, we’re not the pitchfork kids.” They are the hunted, and Martyn’s not a fan of being the prey. “Why should I spend time running for my life?”
Sixty Five by Gentle Bones: Martyn sticking by Scott’s side, squashing his desire for self-preservation to stay with his only ally. “Tonight, we’ll make it out alive. We’ll leave it all behind and stand up, for all that we love will always be enough.”
Out of the Woods by Taylor Swift: Scott and Martyn keep heading off and doing their own things, but they always come back to each other. When the whole world is against them, they run together. “We were built to fall apart and fall back together. […] Are we out of the woods yet? Are we in the clear yet? In the clear yet, good.”
Anti-Curse by boygenius: Scott asking Martyn to be the one to kill him when they were being chased into the ocean. “Friendly fire, point blank. Salt in my lungs, holding my breath. Making peace with my inevitable death”
Time by James Barre: “I feel like I’m running out of energy to say these things, I do not have the time, my time now. It’s probably just a waste of time, my time, oh.” Martyn has so much more time than everyone else left standing, but it’s still not enough. He keeps clawing for more time.
Not Strong Enough by boygenius: “Every clock’s a different time, it would only take the energy to fix it.” As people’s clocks start closing in on zero, people are begging their allies to kill them and take their time, but not Scott and Martyn. They’re both in a good position, but even if Scott had needed time, Martyn wouldn’t have given it to him. He’s sick of being stuck as “Always an angel, never a god.”
Blur by Imagine Dragons: “I wanna be satisfied with what I have. I’m always chasing higher placement, this bump is not enough. […] I’m always hoping for a reset. I will be happier when I’m older. Why is everything never good enough for me? Why is everything never…? I’m never satisfied. I’m starting to blur.” Martyn has not come this far to leave anything to chance. He will not settle for anything less than victory. He needs more, he needs more time, he needs to win.
Overheated by Billie Eilish: The final three agreeing to an unarmed battle without armor to end it all, and Martyn stabbing them in the back when they least expect it. “You wanna kill me? You wanna hurt me? Stop being flirty […] I’m overheated. Can’t be defeated, can’t be deleted, can’t be repeated.”
I Did Something Bad by Taylor Swift: Martyn just killed two unarmed men in a fit of passion and he has no regrets. This game was always meant to end in blood. Honor has no place in war. He won and he enjoyed it. “I don’t regret it one bit ‘cause he had it coming. They said I did something bad, then why’s it feel so good?”
Intro by Alt 9, Eric Grooms & Brendan Foery: “What if I wake up and I can’t hear myself speak? I would still scream at the top of my lungs ‘til my throat went dry and my tongue went numb. I would still dance ‘til my cheeks went red, my legs went weak, and my feet both bled. So I’m on my knees and I’m almost dead.” As Martyn celebrates his victory, he is struck down by the heavens. He knew death was going to come for him, but he was hoping to not again find himself falling through the infinite abyss.

A speech by HRH The Duchess of Cornwall at a Violence Against Women and Girls Event at the Kigali Convention Centre, Rwanda
Ladies and Gentlemen, it is a huge pleasure to be here with you today.  I should, first, like to thank the people of Rwanda for the wonderful welcome that my husband and I have received.  I have heard the saying, “God spends the day elsewhere, but he always spends the night in Rwanda” – and, having seen a little of this beautiful country and experienced your hospitality, I can quite understand why that might be the case…  Thank you for your kindness and generosity to us and to the whole Commonwealth family – we were all so sorry not to be able to gather here over the past two years and are delighted that we are now, finally, together.
Yesterday, my husband and I visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial:  the final resting place for more than a quarter of a million men, women and children.  Our guide, who had lost both his parents in the Genocide against the Tutsi, spoke to us of how, in the wake of those appalling, unfathomable events, the people of Rwanda have embraced peace and reconciliation.  And he described, with gentleness and humility, how we all have a personal responsibility to fight the discrimination and ideologies that lead to the destruction of others.  It is in that same spirit of encouraging personal responsibility that I wish to speak today about a different evil that has led to the death of many thousands:  violence against women and girls.
The figures are shocking.  Globally, nearly 1 in 3 women have been abused in their lifetime.  In times of crisis, the numbers rise, as they have, dramatically, during the Covid-19 pandemic.  Across the Commonwealth, calls to domestic violence helplines have increased by up to 500% over the past two years. Whether we are aware of it or not, we all know someone who has endured sexual or domestic abuse.  We can, therefore, all be part of combatting these heinous acts.
On International Women’s Day earlier this year, I was profoundly touched by President Kagame’s powerful message on social media, which read, “Equality is a right, not a favour”.  We know that Rwanda is ranked 7th in the world in terms of women’s rights and opportunities.  So let us bear His Excellency’s words in mind as we focus on violence in the home against women and girls today and remember that we are seeking rights, not favours.
We are seeking rights that have been denied to women and girls in every part of the world:  Joanna Simpson in the UK, beaten to death by her husband while their two small children were in the next room; Noreen in Pakistan, whose husband, a drug addict, routinely abused her and alternately threw her out of the house or forbade her to go outside; and Uwaila Vera Omozuwa, murdered in Nigeria as she studied in church.
These stories are heart-breaking.  But, given the statistics I have just quoted, they are, sadly, not unusual.
Ladies and gentlemen, we are gathered here with one purpose - to find solutions.  It is surely significant that every single member state has unanimously agreed to support the “Commonwealth Says NO MORE” campaign and to implement initiatives to prevent domestic violence and sexual abuse.
There is power in this alliance.  In the strength of our unity, we, the women and men of the Commonwealth, stand with victims and survivors, who, despite the temptation to hide away in silence, speak up so that others know they aren’t alone – whether in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Pacific or the Caribbean and Americas.  In so doing, we have the opportunity to end gender-based violence and those laws and practices that discriminate against women.  And each one of us must take personal responsibility not to let this opportunity be lost.
I should like to close by quoting from a speech given 75 years ago by my mother-in-law, The Queen, in Cape Town. As we work together, let us be inspired by Her Majesty’s words, her example and her deep love for the Commonwealth, which, in 2009, Rwanda joined as a new partner and friend.
"If we all go forward together with an unwavering faith, a high courage, and a quiet heart, we shall be able to make of this ancient Commonwealth, which we all love so dearly, an even grander thing - more free, more prosperous, more happy and a more powerful influence for good in the world."
Thank you.

Ur into a lotta smps right what are ur favorites. Trying to get into more smps
hmmmm ohh thats a. hard question. i’m into a lot bc I love a lot of varied genres Within them though- they may not fit your vibe. Top 3? I’ll try a top 3
I’d. Imagine since you’re here, you already know Empires smp (if you dont, how did you get here) so ill skip that but emotionally its here. and the other common ones- Dream smp and the Life series. Which you should Also watch
(list below!)
1. Mianite. /MIANITE/.
I’ve never been so quickly charmed by an smp before in it’s first season. Usually it takes a bit for SMPs to start ramping up and making sense of themselves but watching from Captain Sparklez position, you basically start the series AFTER the rules are already set in place.
We watch our titular main character Mr Revenge himself enter a world of gods and conflict where he has no interest in either. He doesn’t want to side with ‘good’ or ‘evil’— he wants to survive (A rather relatable feeling these days lol). He demands a third option and by god, does he get it.
Mianite does an exceptional job at keeping you hooked with personal interactions between players, Purges or main pvp moments, and natural lore that lends well to the rather unsteady alliances made throughout. Watching other povs isnt necessary but adds so much to the experience. I can’t recommend it more.
2. YDYD season 1 Achievement Hunter
If you can ignore a *single* person in there who’s done some rather awful things- then this series is to die for. The cast of Let’s Play AH play minecraft hardcore where, if you’re dead- you’re dead (hence the name).
What makes it different from OTHER series like 3rd life or X life is that instead of breaking apart into duos to fight each other, the entire group works /together/ to try and make the series as long as they can. And it’s in spite of this that people die, graves are made, people are lost, and one person still ends up being the winner.
It’s a twist on the genre I don’t /see/ a lot bc most hardcore series are very much Hunger Games esq in that you’re all trying to kill the other to survive the longest. And that- doesn’t really become a main motivator here. No one wants to be the last one standing. They already /know/ that’s lonely.
3. Outsiders SMP
So. Much. Love went into making this smp possible. It’s a finished series as well, with well over several hours of vods or at least 3 in youtube videos of content. It’s planned, organized, detailed with lots of World building but what matters most is the connections between people.
Everyone on the smp lives in a Clearing, a la Maze Runners, surrounded by a large wall and a maze beyond that which traps people when the gates close at night. Outsiders isnt afraid to talk about the difficult choices being in this situation gives you- brings morality into question and the worthwhileness of political powers in a place without them.
You don’t leave Outsiders with questions. Not unless you missed the answers. It wraps everything up in a neat little bow and I felt satisfied with how it all panned out. I think getting into the more /consistent/ lore rather than ‘improv but mostly fucking around and then whoops lore’ is important bc not many ppl actually give this area of mcrp attention and i want this brought into spotlight as a shining representation of what Good Consistent MCRP planning and communication is.

Chapter 1 - New Beginnings
.
.
.
So this was my life now. Basically kidnapped, and brought to an island to compete to the death.
I looked around at the other contestants. Would they be my enemies? Friends? I looked back at the two that traveled with me on the plane. Cody, Courtney. Would they stay by my side or fight against me?
“So. Here’s the rules.”
We all turned our attention to Chris as he brought out a clipboard, looking at it skeptically, rolling his eyes as he read.
“Each day, our schedule will look like this: Wake up and have breakfast in the mess hall, complete the daily challenges, have the elimination ceremony, and return to the campsite. There can be up to 5 winners in each challenge. The five winners of small challenges will receive rewards to help them in the next. The winners of the final challenge will be safe from the night’s elimination.”
Chatter arose from the contestants around me, some terrified of the upcoming days, others excited to be chosen for this.
“Ahem.” The crowd fell silent. Chris adjusted the paper in his hand. “You are free to be enemies or create alliances. Do what you need to as long as it isn’t cheating during the challenges. Cheaters will be… Condemned.”
Someone moved beside me on my right. I felt their eyes on me and it made me shiver. I looked over to see a short, pale, black and teal haired girl. She had the alternative kind of aesthetic, similar to mine, and kind, soft eyes.
The one on my left was a tall but timid-seeming dark-skinned guy. He was biting his lip in fear, tears forming in his eyes.
I looked away quickly, running my fingers through the long green middle section of hair I didn’t buzz. I had to find some way to get out of there.
“Well. Hello there.”
I jumped at the voice, wheeling around. It was a tall, hispanic man, with long brown hair and piercing green eyes. His mouth was drawn into a smile, but his eyes showed he didn’t mean it in a friendly sense.
I turned back around, ignoring him. I wasn’t ready to make any kind of relationship just yet.
“Hm. Not a chatty one, I see.”
I heard him back away, maybe to find someone else to bother. I started to scan possible exits. Of course they had to go and put us on an island. There were the docks, and the cliff to the left of us, but we were too far out to swim. Maybe if we built a raft⎼ An impact to my shoulder knocked me to the ground.
“Oh!! I’m so sorry!”
I sat up, holding my shoulder that got hit. My vision rose on a flustered blonde girl, wearing a blue bandana and holding an opened lip gloss tube.
“I got shoved in from the other side. I didn’t see you there!”
She put the lip gloss away, holding out a helping hand. I reluctantly took it, letting her pull me up to my feet.
“My name is Lindsay, what’s yours?”
I gritted my teeth. I was going to have to get used to socialization if I were to survive this competition.
“Duncan.”
I refused to make eye contact with her. Forging bonds was the last thing I wanted to do before I got used to my surroundings.
“It’s soooo nice to meet you Duncan!”
She reminded me of a private school popular girl. I choked down a scowl. God I hated people like that.
“We should stick together.. I don’t trust anyone else here.”
Was she stupid? Out of everyone here, she decided to pick the most dangerous, punk-rock looking contestant to latch onto. Regardless, I doubted I could get her off of me that easily.
“All right.”
But no promises. I wanted to tell her. I could leave you for dead. But I decided against speaking any further.
“Are you done talking?” Chris seemed noticeably impatient.
“To get to your first challenge, you gotta run all the way up that cliff over there within ten minutes. Have fun!”
He’d hop down from the chair he was standing on, propping himself up on the back of a golf cart driven by the army man-chef. He gave a wave of an airhorn, firing it off before driving away.
Lindsay looked up at me, her bright blue eyes sparkling with a kind of anticipation. “Come on Duncan!”
I sighed but I didn't let her hear it. I forced a small smile as she took me by the hand, leading me to the surrounding forest. Others started to follow, but the rest hesitated, looking down at their feet and milling about.
People were whispering to one another, voices merging into one. “Are we really doing this?” “What if it’s a trick?”
Lindsay pulled on my arm. “Look look! It’s Tyler!! Hiii Tyleeer!”
I looked to where she was pointing to see a blushing brown haired, lanky but tall guy. He wore what appeared to be a red tennis outfit. He happily waved back, running to catch up to her.
“Lindsay! Who’s this guy you’re with, he looks like he just got out of prison?”
I resisted the urge to sock him across the jaw.
“First off, I actually did get out of juvie today, and second off, your little girlfriend here decided to stick with me so I had no say.”
“Really Lind, this guy?”
“Yes! He’s so cooool!”
With Tyler joining us, others decided to, as our duo turned into a small group. The goth girl and the camo shirt guy, who’s names I learned were Trent and Gwen. The hispanic, and worried dark-skinned guys, Alejandro and DJ. A nerdy looking guy with a burger shirt, and a straight black haired mean looking girl, Harold and Heather. Just to name a few.
We formed familiarities, and decided that maybe making friends would benefit me.
When we reached the top of the cliff, Chris was waiting with his usual skeptical smile, hands behind his back, he looked to each of us.
“Soooo. These are all that came huh?”
We looked around, there were about 23 of us that decided to follow Chris’ instructions.
“Alright then. I warned you. To the ones that stayed back down at the campsite, they will be eliminated.”
“NO!”
With a smile, that evil, disgusting smile, he gave a hand signal.
Lindsay, Gwen, and several others ran to the side of the cliff, overlooking the campsite. Others attempted to run back down and warn them.
We were too late.
Gunshots were fired as screams rang out. I felt my body tense up. I was used to this, I had seen many people be shot and killed. But not innocent people. Innocent people who had done nothing wrong.
I was unable to help it. My body moved on its own. I followed the others and my head lowered, looking down at the campsite, feeling Lindsay fainting at my side to get caught by Tyler.
It was a massacre. The contestants running for their lives. Some were able to escape, others were caught and promptly executed. Usually, I could stand this. But the fact they were innocent people who were forced to come to this. It hurt, seeing them lose their lives just like that. I had to do something about it.
Chris turned back to us once the bloodshed died down. He smiled his usual smile as if nothing happened.
“The bodies will be cleaned up and disposed of by the time we get back. Now, for your first challenge, this will be the only challenge of the day since it’s almost dark. You’re to jump off this cliff into the smaller of the two rings you can see below. However, the larger ring is infested with blood thirsty sharks. Be one of the first five to make it into the smaller ring and you’ll win safety from tonight’s elimination. Miss, and you’ll be shark food, chicken out, and you’ll be joining the ones down at the campsite. Be good at the challenge and to your peers and maybe they won’t vote you out. Challenge begins.. Now!”
We were all frozen with fear, Tyler shaking Lindsay to try and wake her up.
“Someone has to do it, cmon now.”
There was a scream and a splash, followed by another. They were jumping.
A hand was placed reassuringly on my shoulder. “It’s ok. We can do it. All of us together.” Gwen said, before jumping off with a yelp. I had to win, I had to be the one to get safety. I gritted my teeth and followed.
My body moved on its own after I started running, my feet pushing off the edge. The wind hit me like a bullet as I plummeted. The water was ice cold, and I started to panic. My eyes were shut and the landing made the air leave my lungs. All I knew was that I had made it into the small target. I had won safety.
It was the last thought in my mind before darkness consumed me.

The Development of Law and Zoro relationship: Zoro, the Buffer
<Part I: Before Meeting>> <<Part II: Sabaody Archipelago, The First Meeting>> <<Part III: Punk Hazard: The Alliance (A)__(B)>>  <<Part IV: Dressrosa, The Breaking Point (The Plan Failed)__ (Saving Law)__(Protecting Law)__ (Birdcage, Pica and Doflamingo)__ (Aftermath)>> <<Part V: Zou, The Kindred Spirits (Traveling Together)__(Searching for Nakama)__ (Reunion)__ (Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance)__(The Last Moments before War)>>  Part VI: Wano, Against Emperors (The Untold Journey)__(Luffy & Zoro Means Troubles…)__(...and Law Is Not Happy About That)__(Separated Again)__(Law and Straw Hats: Clash of Authority)__(Zoro, the Buffer)
The raid on Kaido’s mansion has finally started and with it, the Supernovas specific teamwork. Plenty of things will happen before the Worst Generation face two Emperors - for now, the most relevant is a short-lived teamwork of Straw Hat Supernovas and Kid as the presence of Kid greatly influences the established relationship between Law and Luffy and in result, Law and Zoro’s as well.
In the previous part of the analysis we could observe how the lack of Zoro & Luffy affected the dynamic between Straw Hats and Law in regard to authority. A similar issue has arised between the three captains albeit in a different fashion. Kid, Law and Luffy argued a lot about not taking orders from other captains. It was not the first time for them to do so, as during Sabaody Archipelago arc their reluctant teamwork started exactly when Kid off-handy commented he will deal with the marines on his own thus be the one saving others’ skin - an implication that the other pirate crews and their leaders were inferior. Something that Law and Luffy found unacceptable. Though the Supernovas compete all the time, back then they kept cool heads while now, they literally can’t stand together and not insult or scream at each other. The extreme different behavior present an interesting contrast between past and current events (chapter 975)
Tumblr media
That Luffy and Kid argue non stop is nothing new, as the manga already showed their competing relationship when both were forced to cooperate as the prisoners in Udon. From the story so far shown, there is no doubt that Eustass is a difficult man to deal with. Unless it is Killer or members of his crew, Kid regularly insults people, even if said people are on the same side of conflict. He is impulsive, aggressive and prone to violence. Above everything else, Kid doesn’t want to rely on anyone (beside Killer) and doesn’t accept taking orders from others. Which is no wonder how his and Luffy’s impulsiveness and stubbornness clash at every possible occasion.
The surprising thing however is that the usually calm, uncaring Law is no less affected by Kid’s aggressive presence than Luffy. In fact, once Kid joined the alliance, manga presented a visible shift in how Law and Lufy interact with each other too. This is no Luffy & Law‘s unity against Kid type of relationship. Once it comes to prove their authority / equal status or worth as Supernova Captain, all will (comically) jump at each other's throats to prove their point or superiority. Despite his maturity and pragmatic nature, Law is not above provoking Luffy and Kid, nor being indifferent to their jabs.
One would think that if Eustass was so hard to deal with that Luffy and Law reacted in such a strong way then Zoro should have the same difficulty to tolerate the man. But in contrast to Luffy and Law, Zoro was pretty much unaffected by Kid’s specific type of behavior and because of that, from on play the role of buffer between the arguing Captain Trio.
It was especially handy in the Luffy and Kid’s accidental cooperation seen in chapter 981. At that time Luffy and Zoro (after separating from their crew at the beginning of the alliance's stealthy attack) already blew up their cover.
Straw Hat started a fight with the enemy because Kaido Pirates wasted oshiruko for fun while people of Wano (Tama) incredibly suffered due to hunger. Kid’s reaction then was to comment on what an idiot Luffy was and to use this distraction for his own benefit. But then Zoro - who went after Luffy into enemy territory to, in theory, keep his captain out of troubles - cut in half a tower and angrily chided Luffy for reckless behavior. This shocked Kid who wondered if Roronoa even heard himself since he did the same thing as Luffy. The ruckus was noticed by the enemy and soon after that the two Straw Hat pirates were attacked by Appo whose unknown power surprised and hurt both. Eustass came to the rescue (chapter 980), not because he cared for other pirates but because he held a grudge against Appo, the man responsible for misfortune that happened to Kid and Killer. Thus the accidental cooperation started between involved allied Supernovas.
Luffy returned the favor, by protecting Kid from the enemy's attack only to openly criticize Eustass for causing a scene while ignoring own part in the mess (chapter 981). Zoro, who despite being Luffy’s right hand, pointed out he was the last one who should be talking. Kid pointed out Zoro was as much at fault as Straw Hat. Killer noted that all three men are idiots. Similar to Zoro, Killer is no blind to his captain’s flaws but in contrast, he kept his opinion for himself.
Tumblr media
The frame provided only speech bubbles indicating who spoke what and an additional mark of the character's emotional tone. Judging by the bubbles alone:
↪  Zoro and Killer were relatively calm about the situation while Luffy and Kid openly showed their anger as both had proper signs to express their irritation.
↪ Kid was irritated not only about Luffy’s accusation but as well by Zoro’s words though Roronoa showed a surprising objectiveness toward his captain. Because really, Luffy was the first one to start causing an unwanted scene so his accusation against Eustass was unfair. It was truly “the pot calling the kettle black” type of situation and Roronoa wasn’t blind to it (he may however be ignoring his own contribution, as Eustass pointed out).
In anime extension, episode 987 showed clearly that during this scene, Zoro in fact was placed between Luffy and Kid (which Killer following behind after the trio):
Tumblr media
Interestingly, once Kid and Luffy again started their argument, Zoro simply watched them for a few seconds just to loudly proclaim he is going ahead and that Kaido’s head will be his.
Tumblr media
The implication that Roronoa will defeat the Emperor alone (because the other Supernovas wasted their time on pointless talk) made both captains come to their senses and run after the swordsman. Which again shows quite well the difference in how Law and Zoro deal with the argumentative Kid. And yes, there is competitive nerve in Zoro’s behavior too, as he is arguing with other Supernovas who will beat the enemy but while Trafalgar is easily dragged into the screaming match, Zoro focuses on the task at hand. And to be honest, Roronoa’s uncaring attitude actually works better at keeping Kid and Luffy on the right track, even if both pirates run after him just to be the first to face Kaido instead of putting the good of alliance above their constant bickering.
(Out of the five allied Supernovas, only Killer acts as a sane person, but in contrast to Zoro, he does not really call out anyone on their insanity aloud.)
↪ In the manga alone there is no following panel showing Zoro’s reaction at Kid’s angry remark (“You are the last should be talking Luffy” “Same you, Roronoa!”). In a way this gives an impression that Zoro simply ignored the other man. Frankly, Roronoa seemed to “ignore” Law at first too, as he barely talked with the allied Supernova. Yet the upcoming interaction with Kid will quickly differ from how manga presented Law and Zoro’s early relationship. For one, Zoro stood between two angry captains and his “buffer” position in the middle did not change for the whole chapter, as could be see during Appo’s attack:
Tumblr media
Of course, this may be just a fault of frame’s technical limitation that there is little to no space between Kid, Zoro and Luffy, but this structure contrasts a lot with Zoro’s earliest interaction with Law. From Punk Hazard to Dressrosa arc, Roronoa upheld a visible distance between himself and the other Supernova and did not invade much Trafalgar’s personal space unless A) the man needed to be protected during battle or B) ultimately proved himself as worthy and loyal ally, leading to the shared drink at the end of Dressrosa arc.
The last point I contribute mainly to Law’s true goal (personal revenge on Doflamingo), as manga repeatedly presented Roronoa to be very perceptive of characters’ hidden motives. Which could explain his vigilant approach to supposedly allied Supernova because Zoro instinctively knew there was more to what the man’s shared with Straw Hats. However, once Law’s ties to the enemy finally came to light and were cleared out by events, Zoro’s approach to Law changed in a visible way. He was the one invading Law’s personal space and after sharing a drink, both men clearly were at ease in the presence of each other. With Kid the situation was much easier, as there were no hidden goals or plans on his part. However difficult Eustass can be to deal with, he is a pretty honest and straightforward type of character. He openly said to not care for samurai and joined the raid solely to take Kaido’s head. Which may explain the Zoro’s lack of distance he kept toward Trafalgar.
The lack of Zoro’s visible reservation actually stands out even more when the narration showed Kid-Zoro-Luffy dynamic in a not-so-serious way so early in the raid. We could even say that those three pirates share the same level of “comedical dumbness”, something that didn’t happen to Zoro and Law in the Punk Hazard arc. And yes, both men had their share of funny reactions (Trafalgar mainly thanks to other Straw Hats’ courtesy) but since storyline kept them separated, they did not experience anything similar to frame presented below:
Tumblr media
Killer proved to be the sensible and adult one in the group, as he did not get involved in others’ bickering while actually providing important knowledge about Appo’s special powers. Though Luffy and Kid were so set on not taking orders from each other, interestingly every person involved in this scene did as Killer said. It is hard to predict what Law would do if he was there, but it is clear the issue of following someone’s orders is not per se about refusing to listen to other characters, but about the independence and prestige coming with captain status. Zoro following Killer’s advice (demand) is also very telling since at this point he may be already aware that the other Supernova was in fact shogun’s assassin Kamazo with whom he fought not so ago.
Anime episode 987 even more ridiculed this scene, again highlighting “dumbness” of Kid, Zoro and Luffy during Killer’s effort to keep his comrades safe:
Tumblr media
Frankly, the manga chapter provided only a few in total frames showing Kid, Zoro and Luffy together in the same picture. Yet despite the little amount of source material, the most visibly standing out detail is how Zoro was always placed between Luffy and Kid and how said men actually were capable of working without jumping at each throat, as they did in Udon and at the sea with Law. This is in fact something unusual, as - narrative wise - Luffy is the central figure around whom everything is orbiting and up to this point it was him playing the middle-man role for Law and Zoro at the early stage of alliance. However, with a Kid, the situation is totally different. Zoro - and Killer for that matter - is not equal to Kid and Luffy in the strict hierarchical rank sense yet, his presence is something more than a supportive role. His presence seems to be vital to making the difficult and uneasy alliance working for the time being.
This provides an ironic contrast to Captain Trio’s dynamic, as Zoro and Law have similar introverted nature yet Roronoa’s presence somehow balances two impulsive Supernovas wheneras Trafalgar adds fuel to the conflict by acting no less confrontational (childish) than Luffy and Kid. Something that will be the subject of the analysis’ next part.
The last panels of chapter 981 relevant to Supernovas shows insight into Kid and Killer’s relationship - somehow the crowd of enemy soldiers learned that Killer ate the failed SMILE fruit that turned him into one of Pleasures and Eustass was willing to kill anyone who dares laugh at his partner. Luffy again angrily screamed at Kid to stop causing a scene, though the manga did not show clearly if Zoro or Killer were the one supporting this demand.
Tumblr media
However, anime expanded this scene, showing it was Zoro alongside Luffy who critiqued Eustass’s rash behavior and Kid still didn’t take kindly to hearing it from them both (episode 987):
Tumblr media
When the four Supernovas were separated for a bit (episode 988), we could clearly see that Zoro and Killer - and at this point, Zoro most likely is aware of Killer’s past as Shogun’s assassin - actually acted civil toward each other and even discussed Kid’s impulsiveness and the similarity between their captains. When times called for it, arm to arm they dealt with the enemy crowd. Meanwhile Luffy and Kid argued non stop and were even physically invading each other's personal space in the “fight of wills” which shows well the contrast between captains and their right-hand men.
Tumblr media
In the following scene, Zoro chided both Luffy and Kid for their never-ending arguing that did not benefit their alliance at all and surprisingly there was no angry comeback from any of the captains.
Tumblr media
So again, the source material presents Zoro and Killer as the adult, responsible one in their little group that even impulsive Eustass somehow, for a moment at least, tolerate Zoro as the voice of a reason.
This is of course just a foretaste of the upcoming Supernovas teamwork against Big Mom and Kaido and how the presence of Eustass influences behavior of other characters. Manga-wise, so far there is the feeling that as long as Zoro stayed between Luffy and Kid, there was no additional argument between the captains. The ease with Roronoa tolerated angry Kid is in fact a very interesting aspect compared to the development of his and Law's relationship. With Law, there was a visible distance upheld by Zoro and it did not disappear until Law’s ultimate motives weren’t cleared. With Kid however, there is little to no distancing himself from the other man but also, the confrontational attitude of Kid does not provoke Roronoa the way it provokes usually calm Trafalgar. Roronoa was presented as outspoken and quite fair in his criticism, as he chided both Kid and Luffy, rarely siding only with his captain. In contrast, as much as Killer wasn’t blind to Eustass’s character faults or Straw Hat Supernovas’ own stubbornness, he rarely openly critiqued anyone, keeping his opinions mostly to himself.
For me, the most vital conclusion is that Luffy played once a connector role between Law and Zoro while Zoro now plays the buffer in the Kid-Luffy dynamic. And to be honest Zoro’s buffer role will come to play again in the New Generation’s final confrontation against two Emperors. Which of course will be the subject of the analysis’ next part.

🤝👀💡 for the Get To Know The WIP ask game you made, please!
Oooooh, thank you for this! I'm going to answer in 3 parts because each of these is going to be long. I'll tag you in the other two <3
🤝 - How do the characters meet? (antagonist included!)
I'm going to stick to core characters in the Palace of Imperium so that we're not here for a few years. LOL
Cruz, Dez, and Talon were all three nephilim in the Chicago Sanctuary. How and when they exactly met is unclear, but they had been there since the Sanctuary was established around 1800.
Cruz and Arch have known each other since the time of Emporer Justinian. They worked together at that time do fight riots that were started by an uprising of pixies. I was Arch and his mage alchemy that determined how to defeat them using iron dust. I have a whole short story about that I really should publish sometime.
In around 2014 Abriella was on the run from demons who had been sent to kill her by a crone, who had also bound her powers as an infant and lied to her about her true nature. A chance meeting with Dez and Talia (Talon's twin sister) caused her powers to essentially become unleashed in a rather chaotic way that required some heavy lifting to fix and restore her sanity. It was at this time that everyone also met Arioch, Raguel, Olly and Deacon, as well as Adriel. They were instrumental in that whole affair and the total melee that followed after (it was a mess for about six months afterward due to Talon and Dez being assholes).
Alliances were formed and friendships mended, except Talon who disappeared with his sister Talia. This is when the Horsemen were called by the Divine (Div), and Uriel (Olly's father) and Azreal (Deacon's father) were introduced to everyone. Shortly before this, Dez was killed in a battle with demons, right in front of Abriella.
At the Nephilim Ball to celebrate the calling of the Horsemen and the beginning of the New Age of Man, Lucifer and the Seven Princes of Hell showed up, so we got to meet them all at once. Cruz beheaded his and Abriella's mom in a beautiful scene and there was a fight that went into Hell and ended up with Lucifer pinned to the wall of the Ballroom by two of Abriella's daggers. Lots of fun.
Also at this ball, Abbadon was revealed as the Fifth Horseman, that of Destruction. Abbadon and Abriella were mated in Hell as well. Upon returning to the ball, Dez is revealed to be alive once more. Chaos once more ensues, Dez is good at that.
Being mated to Abbadon is what introduced Abriella, and therefore all of the Horsemen and their friends to Thinius, Mithos, Leandre, Andronicus, Thenasus, and Orpheus. They are also reunited with Arioch, who has a special affection for Abriella and will continue to. The demons swear allegiance to Abriella over Abbadon and become her guard.
Marcellus and Sorina are lesser players and are mostly familiar with Thinius and Mithos, who are their commanders. They will become more important later and be known by all, but I can't reveal too much now. SPOILERS!
So, that is how the core of those in Imperium all met. They are tight, and while they may fight and argue amongst each other at times, as any family does, they will never fail to stand at one another's backs in battle. While not related by blood, they are family.

Chapter 4: Blood of Pride (Section 2)
Shortly after the fight began between Lyn’s Legion and the Black Fang, Matthew visited a nearby village alone.
Lyn had advised that they should make sure no one unrelated to their fight got dragged into it, and so he had come to tell everyone to take refuge within their homes.
After talking to the head of the village and confirming that all of the villagers were inside, he started to hurry back to where Lyn was.
But along his way to do so, he found someone he knew, and suddenly froze. “Huh? Milord!! What are you doing in a place like this?”
The young man he saw was big and very muscular, and wore the kind of heavy, sturdy armor that an armored knight would wear. He appeared to be in his late teens, and his slightly unruly hair was slicked back.
The man looked at Matthew and offered him a handshake. “Well, if it isn’t Matthew! Eliwood and I are here for the spar we have every two months.”
“Oh, you’re still meeting up for your regular spar? You two are as good of friends as ever!”
“If you don’t use your skills every so often, they’ll get soft, after all!” The man answered as he cracked his neck loudly. "And what about you? What are you in Khathelet for?”
“Lord Uther commanded me to look a bit into the problem of Caelin’s succession…”
“Ah, that stuff about the marquess having a granddaughter, or something like that, right? So, who is Brother siding with?”
“...By my own personal conclusion, he will assist the granddaughter. The marquess’ younger brother, Lundgren, is far too ambitious. If we leave him be, he might become an enemy of Ostia someday.”
Lycia was a country with an unusual system of government where each territory was ruled separately from the others, and joined together by the mutual agreement of the over twenty houses that existed within it.
Because they were all unified under the same treaty, the country was most commonly known as the Lycian League.
Ostia was the noble family of Lycia, and the main power of the alliance. Matthew served as a spy to that very House Ostia.
A spy is a professional saboteur, whose duties include traveling around the continent to gather intel, infiltrate enemy forces as needed, construct undercover operations, and sometimes even carry out assassinations. One could not imagine it from his looks and demeanor, but he conducted dangerous work from the shadows.
The current marquess of Ostia was Uther. Meaning that the person Matthew was talking to now was Ostia's next-in-line.
"Mm-hmm… of course." The man whispered in agreement with Matthew's words.
"...And that is why I think it will be a little while yet before I return to Ostia, so please convey that to Lord Uther."
"Huh? Are you trying to turn your lord's younger brother into your gofer?"
"You may be funny, but it’s not your strongest trait! Well then, I’m counting on you!” Matthew said, then rushed off without waiting for a response.
"Jeez, there’s no changing him.” The man said after being left alone. However, he did not get angry at the rude behavior of his brother’s subordinate, instead shrugging it off and watching him leave.
“Gah… I really am at a disadvantage against shamans…!” As Erk desperately dodged the dark magic Flux spells that the shaman in front of him was casting, he shot back his own counterattacks with his Fire tome.
However, the Shaman avoided each and every one of his fireballs without effort.
“Keh keh keh… Did you think a mage like you could stand a chance against us?” The shaman said to him mockingly.
The elemental magic that mages use is a natural science built upon a precise system of magic and highly refined theories. It is also known by the name “anima magic.”
Fire, earth, water, and wind… commonly known as the four elements, are a magic that can be used when one recognizes the existence of the spirits that each control one of those elements, and first communicate with those spirits to free their hearts.
A shaman’s dark magic, on the other hand, is also known as “elder magic,” and its power is a step above elemental magic.
As the name elder magic suggests, it is magic that was founded long ago, during the time of legends. One can cast it if they accept “darkness” into their body, however, if they succumb to that darkness, then tragedy will await them.
The moment a person does not accept the darkness as they should, rather, they succumb to it, then it will cripple them significantly. They will no longer be able to even open their mouth nor blink, and fall into a state of living dead. To say that one’s soul is eaten by their “darkness” is an accurate description of this phenomenon.
As such, gaining the ability to cast dark magic is an ominous process that requires a great deal of mental fortitude, and the spectacle of accepting terrifying darkness into one’s body, to put it simply, is the abomination known as “black magic” that has been passed down since ancient times.
It meant that against shamans, with the ability to cast dark magic; mages, borrowing the power of the spirits, do not stand a chance.
“Now… die!” A dark light burst forth from the shaman’s hand.
Erk, having given up, did not try to cast another fire spell.
The next thing he knew, the shaman, about to cast another Flux spell, was pierced by a ray of light.
“Gah… Ah…!”
For a moment, Erk did not know what had happened.
But the moment he saw the person walking up next to him, he knew that he had been saved.
“Are you alright?”
“Ah, your name is… Lucius… right?”
“Yes.” The young monk of Elimine smiled and answered Erk. “Are you injured? That appeared to be a very difficult battle for you…”
“No, nothing major, because you saved me.”
“I’m just happy I was able to help you. I am still in training, so it takes all my strength to be able to fight someone wielding dark magic.” Lucius said while taking out a Vulnerary he had on him and beginning to tend to Erk’s wounds.
There was one more magic on a greater level than anima magic; one that could oppose dark magic.
And that magic was light magic, used by the priests and monks of the St. Elimine Church.
The St. Elimine Church was a religion founded by St. Elimine herself. Its main church is in Etruria,  and is the largest religion across all of Elibe, practiced in each country of the continent.
As the name light magic suggested, it was the direct opposite of dark magic. If dark magic is a magic of ominous energy, then light magic is “the miracles of the gods.”
One must believe that the benevolence of the gods is everything and devote their body and heart to them… Those who have any doubt in the gods cannot wield light magic. It is a work of miracles and a power that only those who believe can harness.
And the healing staves that clerics use are one in the same. They can heal wounds by borrowing the power of the gods.
“There, you should be good now! Just don’t push yourself too hard.”
“Of course. Thanks for saving me. But… is it really okay for a monk of St. Elimine to be participating in such a dangerous battle?”
“...Fighting is certainly against the will of the gods. But I want to do whatever I can to help this boy. It is not against the teachings of Elimine to help the weak… And besides, there’s already a cleric among the members of this mercenary group, right?”
“She’s, well, how should I put it…” At Lucius' mention of Serra, Erk hesitated.
He didn’t know how to describe his irrational employer, who made him question whether or not she was really devoted to her beliefs. She wasn’t here to help another like Lucius was. She made someone powerful become indebted to her, and was carefully calculating when in the future she would try to claim her repayment.
He couldn't bring himself to tell the pure monk before his eyes the truth, and so he decided not to say. "...Well, anyway, let's both do our best." Erk forced the conversation to end.
Lucius did not seem to suspect anything, giving him a carefree smile. "Yes. May St. Elimine grant you her blessing."

So while I have a fairly pessimistic outlook on where I think the world is headed politically, economically, spiritually, I don’t delight in the suffering of others and believe that we should do what we can to help our fellow man. I just think that suffering is inevitable, how we react to it is what defines us as people.
So while I think that earthquakes will happen, will continue to happen, for not just scientific but also inevitable reasons? We should still do everything we can to help the survivors and to rebuild.
I think we should get vaccinated, even if “pestilences” are going to spread. I think we should follow mask mandates as they are issued. I think we should respect each other, even if we disagree with the actions of others.
I also think that we are headed towards a global conflict.
And I think that the situation is a little more complicated than a cut and dry, black and white sort of fight.
We all know that the BRICS nations comprise of Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and that they have banded together as a resistance of sorts against western influence, namely, USA backed influence.
The USA, who has some 750 foreign military bases, and over 1,000 foreign sites according to a quick google search on September 9, 2023, has repeatedly flexed its military and economic power in the world. Imposing sanctions, taking action, a modern day empire under the name of Super Power.
Can you blame other nations for shying away from such a force? The largest military in the world? From trying to pull away from the US dollar? But economics, a common goal, doesn’t necessarily make these nations friends.
India and China have had a long running border dispute, and recently China’s leader failed to attend the G20 meeting in New Delhi.
And while his lack of attendance is speculated at, one supposed reason is due to ongoing border disputes.
But all of that is to say that as it stands, the public knows one very straight forward story.
That Russia invaded Ukraine, and was asked to wait until the Winter Olympics were over to do so. That the invasion did happen, is currently happening, and that Elon Musk apparently committed a war crime. That Russia refuses to stop the invasion unless they’re essentially given something for their efforts, while facing issues with conscripting troops, and while the world looks to Taiwan and China… and North Korea continues as they have been. Poland is stockpiling arms, Australia and the west are supporting Ukraine, going so far as to use cardboard..
And everyone is waiting for someone else to be the one to escalate things. Putin continues to threaten this escalation, whether it be because of Ukraine moving forward in Crimea, or nukes being stored in England.
And the USA seems as though they will continue to back Ukraine with supplies… at least until the next election.
But to go back to India.. while there are some alliances that are explicitly expected in the upcoming conflict? England and the USA, China and Russia, not everyone seems to have declared outright allegiance. Despite the optimism in the Taipei Times that India will side with Taiwan in a conflict… why should they? Russia and China are neighbors. Even though they don’t share a direct border with Russia, they have a lot to lose from siding with the USA. But they also stand to lose a lot siding with China as well. What I mean to say, is who can blame them for trying to get a feel for both sides? For trying to back a new economic system?
Because in the next global conflict, while there will be major players, all the world will suffer. And many nations, regardless of whether they have billions or millions of people, or hundreds of thousands, will need to consider what side will best serve their interests. I’m interested to see how big a role India takes in BRICS, and whether or not they do decide to support Taiwan more fully, as that would put them in direct conflict with China, with whom as stated, they’ve been disputing a border with.
And I want to see whether or not BRICS is able to replace the US dollar as the world currency, especially as the world faces a recession and a food shortage.
But unless all this posturing from Putin actually turns to a spark? Or unless someone else starts the blaze? It’s all speculation. Until it isn’t.
