#what happened to just..shipping 2 characters for fun and having fun fan theories that people made aus of
Text
Originally i wasn't gonna post this, n was just gonna keep it to myself but it's insane to me how much fandoms or just people in general cannot seem to fathom anything outside of what they know. They've placed themselves into a box of what they know, what makes them comfortable and what's understandable to them. Anything past that is met with hatred and dislike for xyz. You can't have a morally grey character [ESP FEMALE.] Without accusations of abuse of any of fucking being terrorist [Looks at what people say about Mia Winters.] Fiction is not supposed to always be made for YOU. It's made for anyone, they're not nor SHOULDN'T be limited to yourself. This idea that things cannot be bad or gruesome without backlash destroys so much of what sm media is built on... If a ship between 2 characters can be seen as horrible and disgusting when theres no actual evidence of it being that way yet theres still a push when in all actuality you are allowed to write shitty relationships, its okay to write about the relationships that arent squeaky clean!!!! This idea that if you ship it, it immediately means you support it, has gone so far, when i talk about 4525 [David x Simon] or hell Woods x Hackett. Its not to bring this idea that i want real relationships to fucking be like this, its just an interesting viewing of 2 people trying to make something work. They're fictional characters. They are not real. They're little dolls you play around with, to push n do whatever with. A limit of which is okay and isn't should be there, but we've crossed it so much that, the line isn't even there anymore. Like any difficult subject you handle it with care but it doesn't automatically mean you cant ever talk about it or want to talk about it! Just like how real life is not pure, not all media will be pure and that's FINE. You should talk about villainous characters and their complexity and not be harassed for just liking them. <3333

A trembling thought hit me like a freight train, what if the reason the crew went back on saying Al in aro is because he and Vox actually did date?
And then Vox wanted more and they broke up?
Like, I just have a nagging fear that that might come up in season 2 and I really don't know how to feel about it
Like on one hand it should make it easy to clarify that, yes, Alastor really is aro for he gave it a try and found it really wasn't for him
But on the other, what if the crew (or whoever is in charge) is all, "Well he dated once so he can't be aro, therefore he is only ace"
I've seen these kind of conspiracy theories before where people think there's some planned surprise romance plot for alastor and that's why they don't want to confirm him as aro and well.
I disagree.
for in-text, meta, and my own reasons. lemme go through it one by one.
in-text reasons
if we ignore ANY sort of word of god, statements from staff and whatnot, the only thing we have is the rosie dialogue. I've talked about it before, although she only says "ace in the hole", the context in which this is said is the idea of alastor dating charlie, this is a romantic context, and rosie says she's joking because she knows he wouldn't do it because he's an (aro)ace in the hole. the joke here is that alastor brought a girl with him and she's jokingly assuming they're dating (unless we're really thinking she jumped to joking about them fucking). so she KNOWS he wouldn't date and that's the thing, the only way I could see vox and alastor having previously dated and still have rosie say this is if them dating and alastor realising he's uninterested is specifically what got rosie to realise alastor wouldn't do that. otherwise no, it wouldn't make sense to me that alastor would've dated when rosie said this.
meta reasons
old faustisse streams. I'm not a pre-series fan but I've done my research. sure, there's info they've said before that's been deconfirmed but that's because some info from them are stuff they only say they "think" and not stuff that they 100% confirmed with vivzie, just opinions based on what they know about the characters. alastor's aroaceness is different though, faustisse was VERY forward that alastor is AROace and they SPECIFIED vivzie did not want to canonise it because of shipping wars and all that, so I'm fairly sure it's not because of some surprise alastor romance plot. faustisse may not be a 100% reliable source since this is from years ago now but I will say alastor being aroace is about as canon as husk being pansexual. both of this info is from faustisse. arguably alastor being aroace is even more canon than husk being pan because of the rosie dialogue. you can read the transcript of one of the old streams here. don't take this as a necessary reflection of my take on alastor shipping, no, I don't like reciprocated romantic alastor ships. at all. but I also definitely don't think harassment is okay. shippers will exist, and nothing you say will stop them so it's best not to waste your energy shouting at them.
my opinion
first let me say, I DEFINITELY don't like vivzie's choice to not confirm it. I understand yes people can be very aggressive in shipping wars, I understand harassment happens. but. IT IS HAPPENING REGARDLESS. ALL OF THIS IS HAPPENING REGARDLESS. it's just made WORSE by no solid statement on him being aromantic because then there's people who will argue it's not canon. confirming alastor as aromantic will not stop the shippers from shipping or having fun, this is like saying confirming angel dust as gay prevents angel dust x women shippers from having fun. they will exist regardless. confirming alastor as aromantic WILL NOT CHANGE THIS, all it will do is ASSURE aromantic people that they are being represented. all it will do is stop people from saying "alastor is ace not aro!" and acting like alastor being aro is an obstacle to their shipping.
that aside, I'll talk about my opinion on the idea of alastor having dated vox in canon. now, okay, I don't mind the idea if it's done in a very clearly aromantic way and it was just something alastor tried out but didn't like. I would even like it if it was done properly! but I also don't trust vivzie to write an aromantic character in a romantic relationship, so I'd rather it not happen in canon. and I do think vivzie is more likely to not take the risk of trying to write an aro character in a relationship anyways (and if she did I would definitely hope she does lots of research).
also it doesn't really make sense to me why he would try dating with vox instead of like. a woman. like rosie or mimzy. and I don't mean this cause of heteronormative reasons I mean this because alastor is clearly more comfortable with women, it just makes more sense to me that if he were to try out dating it would be with a woman. like... why vox? the only reason I could see it happening is vox is the only friend who tried to confess to alastor and so he decided to try it out cause he was a friend but then didn't like it. that isn't to say I wouldn't enjoy reading about this in fanfics or anything cause I probably would LMAO it's an interesting concept, but doesn't really make much sense to me and I'm not sure if I trust the allo writers to do it in canon.
that's all I have to say.
*mic drop*

Blocking every former and supposedly on the fence Buddie shipper who feels the need to tag Buddie on their posts where they claim to want Buddie to happen so badly or are in a dilemma about it going canon, because they’ve, “Seen the toxicity in the fandom and can’t take it anymore.”
Bullshit. They’re making up excuses to jump ship, when it’s really not necessary.
If you don’t want to ship Buddie, don’t ship them. It’s not against the law. It won’t get you excommunicated from the 911 fandom either, but it will make you look like a fool for acting like: 1) you didn’t know there were toxic fans in the fandom to begin with — as there are in all fandoms, or 2) there aren’t any toxic fans among the BuckTommy fandom.
You can’t claim to be tired of toxic Buddies for saying BT is bland or lack chemistry or LFJ is ugly or whatever else, when there are BT shippers saying the same exact things about Buddie and RG. Both sides have toxic fans, the only difference is that BT shippers currently have canon on their side, so those of you jumping ship are able to feel more validated in leaving.
Fans wanted Buck to be queer for nearly as long as the show has been out, and not once has anyone really shipped him with other people. Josh here and there, Connor occasionally, and that one prophet who wrote about him and Tommy. But majorly, it’s been Eddie. As such, toxic fans have been toxic when it came to any and every relationship either of them were in, so what makes Tommy any different? Did y’all really expect all the toxic fans to be happy with yet another love interest they weren’t looking forward to?
Not only that, but again, there are also toxic BT shippers, and fun fact! They didn’t pop up out of nowhere nor were they born out of defense of Buck and Tommy’s extremely new coupling.
I promise you, those same people were die hard Buddie shippers waiting with bated breath for Buck or Eddie to kiss each other or a man in general. They got it with Buck, so now they feel the need to belittle everything that came before in hopes that Tommy won’t be written out. They don’t care about character development or chemistry or Buck as an actual character either, proven by the many many posts across Tumblr, Twitter, and Tik Tok framing them as in love and smitten.
Claiming Eddie doesn’t mean anything to Buck. Claiming Tommy was a knight in shining armor. Claiming (and this is truly the fault of lazy writing and Tim and co trying to give themselves an out for under developing BT) Buck not talking about Tommy is a sign of happiness.
BT is sexual attraction first and foremost, and that’s all we know. Which is fine, I’ve said before, s8 will hopefully expand on them and their relationship if that’s the plan, but until then, there’s nothing there. Meaning there is nothing about the ship to defend the way some of their fans are doing, but somehow that’s more acceptable than Buddie fans defending Buddie? Sure.
Point is, if you’re jumping ship, go ahead. You don’t need to explain or more aptly worded, lie about why. Toxic fans exist on both sides. Most of you would just rather deal with the ones on the canon side of things, because it helps you feel better. Less embarrassed or anxious, maybe? I don’t know, because regardless of if Buddie ever goes canon, they’re not real, and there is no reason to feel anything if it turns out their shippers were wrong.
But I have to ask, what’s going to happen if BT does end? What will be the excuses for all the trash talking and belittlement of years worth of theories? What will y’all say to rectify putting one toxic group on a pedestal over the other? Because that’s what’s happening. BT shippers are being given full clearance to act like shit to people simply because their ship is canon, so what happens if that changes? What happens if Buddie does go canon? Where will all the high and mighty attitudes go?

Shit my first time doing this, uhhhh-
OK so! I've been watching tsams since the end of August of 2023 and honestly, I don't know what the fuck is going on at this point!
I stopped watching gaming vids (with some exceptions) just so I can focus on the lore and I am still lost! I forget details very easily myself, so when somebody points out something from a video (especially an older one), I'm like : "oh shit, for real?" 'cuz I don't know how to react otherwise-
But I also notice a few details during lore episodes (especially older ones) that (just maybe) we're forgottened by accident? Or something?? Maybe it's intentional that they're left alone and never spoken about again? I don't know. Sometimes, it does tie back to a certain event or a thing a character has said but doesn't always get executed properly in the show-
And so I have detached myself from these characters for the most part because of this and decided to just listen to the people making theories here and ONLY watch the lore vids. I have agreed in the past and even now that Eclipse deserves redemption and it's so irritating how in the story he's still shown acting the exact same way with no development! In the present, I get why he's like this, cuz he's a copy, but also: HE'S A COPY! Does that make sense?! He could change cuz he ain't the same old guy; but it isn't surprising if he DOESN'T either! He was built to act like his original. Use the same old bad habits that he 'remembers' doing once..
..But it would be so interesting if, somewhere in the future, he cracks a little and shows something more different! Maybe he's too insane for that to happen now and he's mainly trying to do what he's already familiar with from the get-go still. You see this sort of behaviour in other characters too. But still; I think it would be so cool and would add nuance to him (current version) that he isn't all just evil and/or insane (ying yang bullshit) and has no chance to change AT ALL!
Also, no more new characters I think (there's too many)! The current ones should already be focused on more instead of adding new ones for the sake of angst and stuff and at such a quick pace! Their dynamics, habits, everything should be further explored more (with less drama and better/more development instead)! It would add so much detail to the full picture instead of doing it like this!! That doesn't mean I don't want a new character to make sense of the narrative or help it, it's just that it gets so chaotic so fast (physically in their life and the stuff around them)! Or maybe that's just me idk.
I haven't checked every corner of this fandom and I don't plan to either. Too much stuff going on. I'm sure others will either agree or disagree with me. Maybe both. Doesn't mean it isn't fun to watch/participate in sometimes! It just gets too dramatic at one point when it's all fictional characters in a fictional world and, apparently, artists are getting flunked over by other fans for certain ships and/or opinions and headcanons which is not good! So yeah... (other people have talked about it already so I won't go into further detail myself).
This was nice doing at 2:32 in the morning by the way, it's refreshing! I'll probably do it again in the future.
(maybe not at this hour hopefully and with an english test ahead that I haven't studied for properly cuz I'm a massive dummy :">)
10/10, would recommend!

(The concept of) Canon is like an Onion
It has layers.
Tumblr media
Okay, I just gotta be the fandom elder here, because there is a thing that is kinda bugging me. And that is the tendency of especially younger fans of stuff to point at all sorts of suplementary material (artbooks, interviews with creators/actors, articles in magazines and what not) and go: "See, my interpretation of this and that is totally canon!"
And the thing is that... it is a bit more complicated than that. Because what is and isn't canon... Well, it is something people argue about a lot. But the general thing is, basically this. Canonicity can have multiple levels - and the top level of it is basically just the text itself.
Like, older fans of the Star Wars Fandom might still remember Lucas' five (or was it even six?) levels of canon. And those were just based on actual stories. It had become a necessity back then just based on the fact that a lot of the extended universe stuff was at times contradictory - even with the stuff that Lucas himself had done. So according to Lucas, the main canon was just the stuff he had been a part of creating. And then there were levels of things going from "most canon" to "least canon" basically.
But yeah, generally speaking: Canon is the information given within a story itself. You can argue about additional story material maybe being canon (like tie in novels to a movie, for example), but generally even those are not... necessarily canon to the main-thing itself.
I know that these days there is this big thing happening of creators just being very, very accessible to fans. So, the temptation is big to tweet or mail or comment on a twitch of your favorite media's creator/your favorite character's actor/whatever and be like: "I have this theory/analysis. Am I right?" Which is... fine. But you also have to keep in mind that stuff that people privately say is not necessarily authoritatively.
As some of the followers of this blog might know: My OG fandom is Digimon. And boy howdy, can I tell you stories about Digimon's "Word of God". Because... look people, if it is not a book, there is not a singular creator. And the people who were in charge of Digimon, had at times very, very differing ideas from each other.
With Digimon Adventure/02 I interviewed several of the writers. And guess what: I at times got opposing opinions from them. And those opinions were also differing from what the producer and the director said in official interviews and sublementary materials (like artbooks or the novelization).
Two examples are Sora's age and Hikari's crest. Sora is shown to have her birthday in movie 2, which is set in March. Given how Japanese school law works, this would make her 10 during the events of Digimon Adventure and 13 during DIgimon Adventure 02 (because the cut-off date is April 1st). According to Reiko Yoshida, who wrote that movie, this is true. According to the producer, however, no actually the movie is set in April, she is 11 during the events of the first season. And the other fun one: What does Hikari's crest of "light" actually mean. We asked five different people involved and got five different answers.
And the big thing is, that you cannot assume that someone, who is engaging with media, does also engage with ALL THE INTERVIEWS and FOLLOW EVERYONE INVOLVED ON SOCIAL MEDIA. Because most people don't.
I see this happening a lot especially in regards to people interpreting the canonicity of ships - and character sexuality.
Let me use an example where I totally agree with the person in question: Isaac from Castlevania. According to his voice actor Isaac is queer. I totally absolutely read the character this way, no question. But... technically it is never confirmed in the text. So if you come away from it not reading him this way, yeah, that is totally understandable. You do not need to know everything every voice actor said.
And if stuff within the actually story itself is kept vague, you cannot just go and say: "Person XY who also was involved in creating media X said this, so this is the only correct opinion." Because if the text does not confirm it, it is not necessarily "canon" and either interpretation is valid.
And if there is multiple entries as source material, also try to think of what people will usually think of, when you say "Fandom X".
Like, to get back at my own fandoms: Yeah, no, most people will not know about the novelization of Digimon Adventure. Most people will also not have played the Wonderswan games (that also at times outright contradict the primary text in form of the anime). Or with Pirates of the Caribbean: Most fans have never read any of the tie-in novels. Heck, most people do not even know they exist. Meanwhile, also a ton of people do not consider movies 4 and 5 canonical to the Gore Verbinski trilogy, given that again those movies outright contradict some of the stuff stated in the trilogy.
What I am trying to say: Canonicity is, if anything, a spectrum, not a binary. So for the love of all the gods, please stop the entire: "Well, the guy who did the storyboards for three of the scenes in this show agrees with me, so I am right," stuff. I know it is tempting (believe me, I KNOW). But... If it is not in the text, other interpretations are valid.
Also, headcanons are always valid. Always.

I love all the analyses you've done. Especially Crosshair as I always found him to be a complex character.I would like to know your opinion of Crosshair in this third season and what did you think of him? Also his closeness to Hunter, since they've been talking they seem to be together all the time.
Now that I remember, I've seen fic where Hunter and Crosshair are described as lovers and it's funny because reading your analysis I remembered a story where Hunter gets drunk and gets involved with 2 Twi'leks and Crosshair upon seeing the mess on the boat angrily tells him he's not going to clean up his mess. And in other stories where they are together but are always fighting and arguing.Or in others where Tech and Crosshair do things on the sly and Hunter only tolerates Tech's because when it comes to Crosshair he reproaches them.I'm not saying they're canon or anything, but as written coincidences go, they're fun.
Thank you so much! Yes, Crosshair is a complex character, and I can't believe that I have written so much about him.
I am going to write an analysis of The Bad Batch season 3 after the series finale. Right now, I think Crosshair is on the right path as he is growing beyond his four main archetypes.
In "Shadows of Tantiss", once he takes a leap to escape Tantiss with Omega despite not knowing what's ahead clearly, he is starting to move beyond his Apollo archetype.
In "A Different Approach", Omega teaches Crosshair that violence does not always solve problems (something an Artemis person must learn, which is how to take down the Calydonian Boar). Of course, Crosshair does teach Omega to be more assertive and not let other people take advantage of her (a useful Artemis trait for a Persephone person like Omega).
As Crosshair reconciles with the Bad Batch, especially Hunter, he is "recycling" his Hera archetype, and this happens after "The Return" (winter has finally passed as Crosshair leaves the Outpost). Hunter defends Crosshair from Howzer, showing that he does care about Crosshair, which assures Crosshair's Hera archetype. When Crosshair talks about how loyalty should go two ways in "Extraction", it shows that he has grown beyond his Hera archetype - able to make wise decisions after getting out of an abusive relationship with the Empire.
In "Bad Territory", Crosshair learns meditation, which is a healthy method to deal with his emotional trauma. This helps him to move beyond his Poseidon archetype - channeling his destructive emotions through creative and calm methods.
Based on my analysis, Hunter has the Zeus archetype while Crosshair has the Hera archetype, which may explain why they are so close to each other (I do not do clone shipping). They support each other, yet they will argue with each other a lot. Those stories that you have mentioned do match this dynamic of theirs (and Tech with Hunter's favouritism).
They all may seem like "written coincidences", but I interpret it as archetypes existing in our collective unconscious. Carl Jung did travel to places in India and Africa where the people had never had western influences, and he found that many of their myths shared the same archetypal patterns as those western myths. He believed that archetypes are universal and they exist in our collective unconscious. Even though we may come from different places, have different cultures and have different experiences, the same patterns can be identified, taking on various forms, just as Joseph Campbell has stated in his book The Hero with a Thousand Faces.
I do believe these archetypes already existed in the Bad Batch, be it obvious or subtle. These archetypes are later expanded by the fans through various interpretations in the forms of headcanons, fanarts and fanfictions. They may not all be canon, but it's certainly fun to see. Besides, it helps me to explore human psychology and reaffirm Carl Jung's theory of the collective unconscious. Sometimes, by looking into how a person interprets the Bad Batch (along with what they like and don't like about them), I can figure out some interesting things about their personality, which leads me back to the archetypal patterns.

wip questions tag
thank you @sunset-a-story for tagging me!!!!!!! (and sorry it took me a while sjfjfjfjfj)
tagging @void-botanist @avi-why @televisionjester and anyone else who wants to do this :3
1. What was the first part of your WIP that you created?
Worldbuilding!!! I've always loved Mars (influenced by Doom probably? i just think it's neat :]) and the idea of a whole society on Mars is just very cool for me. All the possibilities and things that can go wrong. And the political debates.......
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the intro song be?
HMMMMM this one is hard bc i absolutely su k at picking music for story playlists and this is waaaaaay harder. I think I would love it to be instrumental or smth tho!
That said I would soooo much rather have it become a video game, and and if I were to pick a song for a trailer I'd go with either Black Mambo by Glass Animals or something from Depeche Mode. My brain is currently telling me to go with "Pain That I'm Used To" but I wouldn't say it fits Cynosure that well KFKKFFKFKFK
3. Who are your favourite character(s) and why?
Tobyyyyyyy <3 I love him so much he is such a...guy. He's some guy. A chemist who has spent a bit too much reading his dad's books about social theory and stuff since he was a child. All he wants is that people would be happy and he has so much love to give for the world, which mostly means him helping people a lot (people pleaser guy). Tobias isn't really that special, he wants to do something he likes, he's scared of guns (for a reason) and just wants a calm new life. Too bad that's not happening for a while.
To think he started as a copy of Nathan I made for a The Outer Worlds playthrough and then it all kinda turned into a bigger thing and he became his own self and I just decided to pull him + Klara & others out of being fandom ocs and put them into Cynosure.
putting the rest of questions under read more <3
4. What other pieces of media could share a fan base with your WIP?
HMMMM I'd say basically any kind of scifi book that has some societal themes in it + has some comedy and stuff. Same for video games maybe?
5. What has been your biggest struggle while writing your WIP?
I'm going to be honest I haven't really started writing Cynosure yet JFBBFBFFKF
My biggest struggle is having a job and being a master's student basically hehe
6. Are there any animals in your story?
Haven't really figured out if I'd want to showcase Mars wildlife in it + what kind of wildlife would it be, BUUUUT!!! There's definitely Klara & Toby's cat, Melody. She's a lil tabby cat :3
7. How do your characters get around?
I'm a public transport fan so I'm putting public transport into my wip!!!! I'd say Mars has lots of fancy trains and the ocean area has ships. Buses, too, though probably not what Cynosure characters will end up using.
There's also cars and motorcycles, though they're hovering instead of having wheels. Mars terrain sucks for wheels.
8. What part of your WIP are you working on right now?
Figuring out the plot + finishing up worldbuilding <3
9. What aspects of your WIP do you think will draw people in?
Hmmmm! I'd love to say worldbuilding or like, whatever is going on in Mars power struggles. Making fun of capitalism too (i'm a social scientist), maybe even the characters? Who knows :^)

I meant your hcs and opinions, Alpha Ghostpiss :(
Sure we can do that too,
So unpopular opinion but Isaac is my least favorite main character, which doesn't mean I don't like him, he's very well written but he gets on my nerves a lot. He is arguably the easiest to draw tho. He's left handed in my brain, also sharksaac. Isaac is very shark and bird coded to me, idk just sharks Man.
I loovveee early fic Edward I love how chaotic he was, he mellowed out a bit in season 2 which I find sad but I still love my boy. Genderbent Edward hot (I can legally say that). I am very confused on the James beef tho I admit I have no idea what's happening there.
Drew likes gardening, that's the headcanon. He feels like an outdoorsy person, he collects rocks. Trans drew for the win, if there are no trans drew enjoyers left I AM DEAD. Trans masc and transfem both work, he is trans in every single one of my aus. It's why he's a tortoiseshell in my warrior cats au SO FUN FACT. He's also jade in my Homestuck au which is also basically the same concept. Drew is so Deer coded to me. The branches growing out of his head when he heals look like antlers!!!!! He has big pretty doe eyes, he has freckles in my brain but only during the summer. His genderbend name is dove. He sees a wider spectrum of colors than most humans because of his powers, I think I'd be fun if he saw light other people cant pick up on like ultra violet.
Nevin is the vriska of ibvs. I'm not Taking that back. I'm waiting for him to do something truly horrible and twisted. The way his powers work is that he apparently just knows what someone is feeling, but i think it would be much much more fun if he could actually feel other people's emotions. He would feel or can read the emotions of people that are closer to him or that he has a bond with easier or stronger. So feeling Drew's emotions would basically be second nature to him while reading or feeling the emotions of someone like Edward would take more effort and would be more cloudy. Also like, the shipping possibilities with that guys GUYS. I think it would also be fun if he could influence other people's emotions in a similar way, not majorly think more like, red makes you angry, yellow makes you happy kind of deal. I wholeheartedly support the nevin has a demon in him theory, that boy is not normal. I also think that maybe he tampered with drew memory, considering Drew's dream was a flashback and there is no reason for current nevin to be there ESPECIALLY when flashback nevin is also already there. I find that very suspicious. He gives fan favorite edgy side character in shounen vibes, think Sasuke. I think he is secretly very pathetic, like even more than Chris that is my headcanon.
Chris is my dearly beloved favorite boy. He's literally me guys we even have the same scar. Anyway he is dyslexic that boy can't read for SHIT, he probably has terrible posture from hunching over the entire time, he is a dog person, big fluffy dog. He is also dog coded, the type that chases his own tail. His voice gets really high pitched when he is embarrassed or surprised, he listens to white girl music while driving, he seems like the type of loser to listen to shit like JTmusic like 💀. I also precisely headcanon him to have no ass at all, built like a brick, his bones hurt from sitting, because it's funny.
I'm gonna be honest I don't think about Barry at all. Anyway Barry x Cody.
Rachel seems like the type of girl that'll sit in the back and ship the homophobic boys in her class together (same girl), canonical fanfiction fan!!! She is one of us!!! She sends her friends the most out of context gen z ass tiktoks that no one understands, in the middle of the night. She laughs at children falling over. She'd be a chronic genshin Player (☹️)
Niki prank calls the elderly. She is the second character that qualifies for vriska status.
Ethan wears his hoodies like a cape on his head. And then goes outside looking like that, boi 💀
Evil Justin writes in unintelligible cursive
Felix would wear the big red boots.
There are more but it's almost 1am and I got finals tomorrow 💀

I just wanted to say that as a person in their early 20s who only just got into resident evil after re8, it was so fun finding your blog and scrolling through all the little blurbs you’ve got. fandom elders always have the best resources and lore and make spaces a million times better, so thank u for mentioning all the little game details and fandom notes that would’ve been forgotten or missed otherwise to newcomers!!
on another note, i wanted to ask if you had any amusing/chaotic tidbits relating to the re fandom in its earlier days, whether it be speculations of scenes or character directions or interactions that people were so sure were going to happen in later re games that absolutely did not happen, fics that were really influential, insane fanwar stories, memes that used to be rlly prolific and now don’t really come up, etc. it’s something i love to discover about fandoms because it rlly is a “you had to be there,” type of information that people don’t document the way they would with canon developments that you can easily find on wikipages
Anon... I'm gonna fucking cry. 😭 This is exactly what I wanted this blog to become once I realized I was falling back into RE hell. Anything that I can do to make this canon more accessible to new people, I want to do it. I think I've said this before, but I literally cannot imagine what it must be like getting into this series this late in the game, because RE is terrifyingly huge and abstract and very old by video game standards.
As for the second part of your ask... Man, I have so many stories. I won't tell all of them, because if I try to, it'll be weeks before I can post this LMAO so let me just break this up into sections and I'll tell whatever the first stories that pop into my head are.
FAN THEORIES
So, historically, RE fandom was never big on fan theories. Fan theories and meta were something that Silent Hill people did, not so much RE people.
BUT there is one that refuses to die, and I have seen people scream about it as recently as Revelations 2.
People are convinced that Steve Burnside is going to come back. This drum has been getting banged ever since the original Code Veronica released in 2000, and even though it has literally never been hinted at at any point in the 23 years since then that Capcom even remembers that that was a possible thing that was set up, the fandom is still waiting for it to happen.
And it's all because Wesker stole his body and fucked off with it and was a complete asshole about it when he did it. That's it, that's the whole reason.
But then that also ties into the fact that there are still people who are convinced that Wesker didn't actually die in RE5 and that he's gonna come back any day now, guys, really -- and that's just a whole level of death denial I've never seen before. Dude got hit with two rocket launchers in the middle of an active volcano. YOU LITERALLY DO NOT GET MORE DEAD THAN THAT.
INFLUENTIAL FICS
Surprisingly, none. RE didn't have an "I Know What's Beneath the Snow Fields" or a "Walk This World." There were influential authors, though. I won't name them because I have no idea where they are now or if they're still around, but. I will say that there was one very influential fic writer in Cleon fandom who utilized literally so many headcanons in her fics that her characters were utterly unrecognizable. Some of the headcanons blatantly contradicted canon, even. But her writing style and her prose were so, so, so fucking good that it didn't matter. For a while, Cleon fandom almost became like a cult around her fics -- and, as someone who only dabbled in Cleon because my friends shipped it, but I had no personal stake in the ship myself -- it was really, really weird to watch this go down.
INSANE FAN WAR STORIES
I was going to go off on a huge thing about the Aeon vs Cleon wars, but seeing as how they're still fucking happening for some god forsaken dumbass reason, I decided not to.
So, we'll forget that. And while this isn't a war story, exactly, I do need to give a special shoutout to the Wesker wives of old.
If you are at all familiar with the stories of old school Final Fantasy VII fandom of girls who convinced themselves that they married Sephiroth on the astral plane -- guess what. RE fandom had those girls, too, and we called them Wesker wives.
There was one really prominent one on LiveJournal back in the day who used to get art commissioned of her and Wesker together, and she would post pictures of herself "in uniform" for him, and like. Would legitimately write as though she was actually married to the fictional character Albert Wesker. She'd answer questions from people and shit.
And she was really, really pretty, so everyone was just kind of stunned by this, because this girl very clearly took care of herself and worked out and knew how to do her hair and makeup -- she always looked really good -- and it was just like... how did someone like you fall so far off the reality wagon?
And then it slowly started to come out that she maybe had some nazi ideology behind her and kept referring to Wesker has her Aryan king or someshit, and that was about the point where my Jewish ass backed away from that whole trainwreck and stopped paying attention to it, so I don't actually know how this story ends.
MEMES
So, uh. If you've been on the fandom side of the internet long enough, you'll at least have heard of the "it's over 9000" meme, even if you're not into Dragon Ball or ever seen an episode of it in your life.
Well, the same guy who started that meme also left his mark on RE fandom, too. The whole "Jill sandwich" thing was always a meme in its own right, but "Hope this is not Chris's blood" was added onto it thanks to this video. So, "Hope this is not Chris's blood" was a big, big meme in the late aughts that I really don't see around anymore. It was used as a sort of... shitpost response to a shitpost, if that makes sense? Like, your friend sends you some obviously stupid bullcrap or a dumb meme and you just respond back "hope this is not chris's blood."
This cap from Code Veronica was a huge meme for a long time, too, and I DO NOT FUCKING KNOW WHY
Tumblr media
And then.
There was this masterpiece. Do not watch this with other people in the room unless your willingness to let others bear witness to your own cringe is very high. It's also NSFW. And, actually, this video might be the single oldest meme in RE fandom history. The YT link I provided here is not the original source of it. It was some stupid fan edit that was making its rounds on Kazaa, and I'm not joking. I want to say this edit is no younger than OG RE2 (so 1998).
And I would negligent in my duties as a fandom historian if I did not introduce you to the glory that is Resident Evil 4 Days of Our Lives. I STILL QUOTE THIS SHIT, TO THIS DAY.
Like, this is me on plurk referencing this stupid fucking shit as I'm liveplurking my very first playthrough of RE4R:
Tumblr media
There was a part of me that was honestly kind of upset when the two cops at the beginning of RE4make didn't actually say to Leon, "I hear no one listens to you. Is that true, Captain Cubscout?" because that is unironically the single greatest line of dialogue that was ever written to be said by any character to Leon Kennedy, and it was written by some fuckin college kids back in the mid aughts.
And that's all I can think of for right now.
Thank u for indulging my old person desire to ramble on about "BACK IN MY DAY........." I appreciate u.
ETA: ok like i know i said i was only gonna mention shit that i could think of at the time that i responded to the ask but there is one more meme that i would be remiss to not mention
Tumblr media

The tags in that Lenny Bruce gif I reblogged are not enough, I have to rant 😄 I completely forgot how much S5 annoyed me.
First of all, I thought the finale was the last episode of S4. And it made sense, with Midge out in the blizzard, looking at that billboard. A hint to what's to come, left to the audience's imagination. To my surprise, this spring they released S5. Ok. It was mostly a waste of time for me. Not entirely and I'll explain why. I wasn't some hardcore fan, I don't even know how it's being talked about online (although I think there's some ship discord with the whole Lenny and Midge thing). Mrs Maisel was one of my comfort tv shows. You know, when even the beautiful setting and the clothes are enough to keep me in front of a screen once a week. Which is why I could always ignore the little bits that annoyed me.
And now I have to get into Amy Sherman-Palladino territory. I like her writing style. Overall. I watch Gilmore Girls. A season each spring and autumn. I like the fast talking. But my god, the line between liking and hating is so thin sometimes. It's like sometimes she pushes too hard and disrupts the balance. I can keep up with a fast talk argument between 4 to 5 characters but if it last just a little bit longer and if it gets a bit more nonsensical, I'm done. I feel tired and I get angry myself. I know this is about me and not really about the writer. I'm sure plenty of people love that exact thing about her. Gilmore Girl success is a testament to that.
But getting back to Mrs Maisel, what was the point though? They went back and forth between timelines which is in theory a good writing technique, but here it was messy. For four seasons we were stuck in late 50s-early 60s and now it jumped through decades in the future to show us glimpses of what would happen. I felt it was unnecessary and it was sloppy. What made the show so fun and compelling to watch was seeing Midge trying to make it as a comedian in that specific period of American history. It was about her beginnings. Do I need to know how her adult daughter resents her later? Not really because if someone were to ask me what I would think would happen, I would have probably given the same answer based on the mother-daughter almost non-existent relationship in the entire 4 seasons.
Also, dragging that whole Midge and Joel thing up until the end? Really?
And now I'm making my way down to the Lenny Bruce situation. I like the idea of having this character be but an appareance in Midge's life from time to time. A will they, won't they. The aura of mistery. The palpable tension (the Las Vegas episode was hotter than the one in which they actually slept together in S4). But Luke Kirby is so damn charismatic that it was impossible for me to feel content with only 2 episodes/season. The mood changed the moment he was on screen. It was electrifying. Not a lot of actors can do that. Or maybe I'm just highly subjective. Cause it's not only because he's hot though. He just knows how to move in a scene, how his gaze should land, his intonation...some perfect combination that left me wanting for more.

Made the mistake of going to Reddit and apparently a good number of people ship Bryce and Azriel??? Those long ass theories don’t include the fact that they do not speak the same language, are literally from 2 different worlds (NOT romantic, one of them will literally have to leave their family and everything they know behind), and, perhaps the biggest argument against this, Sarah already said the series will remain independent of each other even after the crossover. Taking a main character from ACOTAR and shoving him in CC is not the way to accomplish that.
Like.., Azris has a bigger chance of happening lol
Not to mention Hunt is referred to as Bryce’s mate. She’s not gonna throw him away for a guy she can’t even have a conversation with.
Oh yes, apparently that is a thing and people are very, very convinced that it's actually going to happen. Despite Bryce and Hunt being mates, despite the hofas blurb referring to them as mates, despite the bonus Bryce and Hunt chapter being them "celebrating a special time together". idk how people can read over a dozen sjm books with every main ship being mates and not understand that mates are endgame with her.
I get why people ship it, it's fun to think "what if". That's the whole point of fandom, right? I don't care for it because I'm not a fan of either of those characters haha but I don't blame people for shipping whatever they want to ship!
It's just that that's very different from what's going to actually happen in canon. All of your reasons why it's not going to be canon make sense to me!

(apologies for how long this ask is! i just think you're very thoughtful and i love your posts and got carried away!)
i think a lot of the tension between people who really enjoyed 911 season 6 and people who were disappointed in it comes does to like. a literary difference. like the difference between doing a queer reading of a textual relationship and reading a textual relationship to be explicitly queer. i mean. i sort of feel like the emotional reaction that fills the 911 tag after a quote unquote “disappointing” episode is the reaction of someone expecting an explicitly queer text based on the queer readings that other people are doing, rather than based on the show itself.
that all sounds weirdly academic but like in episode one of season 6, a lot of people were very excited about the whole “couch theory.” but some people would see posts delving into this fairly clear extended metaphor and then, based on those posts, take the “couch theory” as a definite variable in some equation that “solves” the story and informs the audience what to expect. at the same time, others took the “couch theory” as an approach into the potential of queerness, with all the richness of interpretation that implies (from “this means they’re in love” to “this means buck is missing something basic, but this is still vague”), which leaves the story open instead of solved. it seems like this divide in the fans on this here website gets framed like “people who def think buddie is happening and are sick of people only watching the show for buddie” and “people who don’t think buddie is happening and are sick of people telling them to just watch the show” but the divide i feel like is more about how people are used to reading a text to begin with?
like i personally don’t think “buddie” is going to happen, for a few reasons, or that the writing is super solid (though i would never call it bad), but i also love the show and love all the theories and readings and approaches that take all the writing choices seriously because there is such a rich world of interpretation in any piece of storytelling, especially one with as many authors as a tv show (writers, showrunners, actors, set design, costume design, music, etc). and queering the text is both fun and easy to do given the other themes of this show (the flexibility required in “responding” to an emergency or anything at all, the barriers put up between you and others by the nature of mortality “we don’t go beyond the glass door,” self-actualization through the other, building and serving a community, self-actualization through like-minded people, and the nature of a vocation)(i mean all of those can be queer themes, while being a lot of other things, and don’t necessarily have to lend to a certain narrative, but they exist in the show and are more often than not grounded in character-driven stories instead of the wildly fantastic emergency-of-the-week plots that is the main draw of the show. so it's easy to pick up on them and easy to incorporate them into an interpretation. and thus easy, for some, to think something in a story is definitely or definitely not going to happen.) the long-form episode structure of the story also makes it easy to step inside smaller moments and ideas. maybe a motif will be picked up again, maybe it will mean something only inside that episode, maybe (like in a lot of tv shows) the story is just different to what it was 2 seasons ago, but either way: that's how a serialized format works. and expanding on those small ideas, brought back later or not, has always been a part of engaging with a story anyway.
to be fair to all 911 fans, fan engagement is normally a bit different than any other sort of engagement, and feelings tend to take over. there’s an extremely personal nature to how people “ship,” i’ve noticed, and i don’t think a lot fans get how invested they are until they’re already in there. which isn’t a problem normally if they don’t think there’s any hope at all of their ship going canon, but that’s just not the case with this ship because of how compelling things like "couch theory" become, when you're on tumblr reading about it all the time.
anyway, i've always enjoyed your posts and writing and i hope no one comes after you because of their feelings about your reading of the show once the season starts. it shouldn't be your problem and, like you, i also found myself thinking after watching last season "that was lovely" so i hope to see more of your thoughts for season 7 <3
firstly you are very sweet friend 🥹🥹🥰🥰
secondly i totally agree with you — the nature of fandom is a space where any and all interpretations of a story are welcome and can be as real as you want them to be, whether they’re canon or not. and i do think any divisions are down to individual readings, because there are people who read the theories and “signs” and take them as definitive proof of something and get mad when that turns out to not be the case, and there are people who use those theories as exactly that — something that makes sense and COULD be true, but we won’t know for sure until we get more info. and neither of those are bad ways to interact with spec!! what’s bad is when the “proof” not being real is assumed that the writers and showrunner and actors are bad at their jobs and not doing it RIGHT, regardless of the fact that we don’t know what right is!!! we’re not writing the show!!!
i’ve been in fandom spaces since i was 13 — i have seen plenty of writers and showrunners run their own shows into the ground, so i understand the reluctance to have some faith. but at the end of the day, no amount of interpretations are gonna make sense until AFTER. whether it’s buddie or someone having a breakdown or whatever, we cannot connect the dots before we have the full picture. and i just think a lot of people would be happier if they remember that

ik they arent even in the trailer and their story is done but im kinda bummed out thatin the good omens tag basically nobody is ever talking about the them or the human characters anymore like they make up most of the book and half the show but always get the side lines in fandom content :/ like ive never seen an anathema focused piece of anything shes always like crowleys bestie or something nobody cares to explore a female character deeper than is shown in canon like raphael doesnt exist in canon and yet had more people explore his intricacies
I’m guilty of this too, and I think aside from regular fandom tendency to focus on a ship and let that be all that matters, A/C’s story is so interesting and unique that it outshines the others.
But I love Anathema! I really like her storyline of following something for her whole life because she was told she has to, and having to navigate not having that guide anymore—after choosing not to have it. I wish we got to see how she deals with going about life without knowing what comes next, I can see it being a great source of stress for her. And it would’ve been neat to see it paralleled with Aziraphale going through something very similar, now that he’s abandoned his trust in Heaven. I saw a post a while ago talking about how both human couples were mirrors of A/C—Newt asks questions of Anathema’s unwavering faith and helps her to leave it behind, just like Crowley does for Aziraphale. Shadwell ends up with somebody he’s supposed to believe is an embodiment of evil and sees he was wrong about her, just like Aziraphale does with Crowley. That was really interesting to see and I have a feeling that season 2 will do the same thing with Maggie and Nina (of course I hope they’re more than just mirrors of the male characters).
But as far as fandom goes, I have to admit that I understand wanting to focus on A/C since they’re the most interesting. It does annoy me though, that Anathema often falls victim to the typical fandom treatment of female characters, where they only exist to mother the male characters. In fan fiction she tends to be the voice of reason and the “smartest one in the room”, which seems great because yay a woman is smarter than the men…until you realise she’s only “the smartest one in the room” because people can’t imagine a woman being silly and fun, only responsible and maternal. I think so much more could be done to explore her whole conspiracy theory thing.
As far as the trend of her being Crowley’s bestie, I think it’s cute, but it feels like people reduce her to being a “goth bestie” and don’t really pay attention to her interests. I feel like she’d really get along with Aziraphale and they’d bond over interest in/knowledge of books of prophecy. I’m sure Aziraphale would be absolutely fascinated to hear from an actual descendant of Agnes Nutter, and despite having left the descendant lifestyle behind I’m sure Anathema would be eager to share her history with somebody who’s knowledgeable and interested. Like imagine you dedicate your whole life to following in the footsteps of a historical figure that not many people know about except prophecy enthusiasts. And then you meet the enthusiast of all time. That would be exciting!
And, y’know, I’m sure she’d be more fond of Aziraphale over Crowley, considering A’s the one who healed her and treated her kindly while C didn’t care that he’d hit her with his car and instead focused on un-denting said car…
That being said, I’ve found that a lot of content with her being friends with the husbands, especially Crowley, ends up treating her like set dressing. I’d make a feminist analysis of this, but tbh I notice it with all the human characters, so I don’t think it’s specific to Anathema because she’s female. It’s possible it happens to her more though because of it.
Anyways. I agree it’s sad that the other characters don’t get much attention! They’re great, especially Anathema and Pepper who are my favourites. But like I said, I get it, when they’re up against the competition that is ineffable husbands.

Not a Byler, but can you explain how “conspiracy shipping” promotes media illiteracy and is bad for fandom discourse? What’s wrong with people interpreting a show differently? Genuine q, not trying to be belligerent, just really curious
I mean you don't need to go too far to understand why - just look at the extreme, viscerally upset reaction so many shippers had when vol. 2 aired. I know I make fun and complain about them a lot, but some b*l*rs are very young, queer kids who have convinced themselves they are experiencing something unique and new with ST. They read the elaborate, far-reaching, pedantic meta the older fans write; mistakenly assume that just because something is well-written and very long, it must be correct; and then get their hopes up and their hearts broken when these hopes aren't met.
The media illiteracy comes from the way these theories, somewhat unintentionally, promote a very bizarre way to look at media and how it's written. The Sherlock fans managed to convince themselves it was possible the BBC would pretend to end the show and promote a fake series on its place, as an elaborate ploy to get viewers to tune in the following week to find canon Johnlock. Of course this didn't happen, but why did they think it could happen in the first place? It's absurd. The idea that a group of showrunners would deliberately hide the main romance they're trying to tell from the audience for four seasons, while pushing another couple just to fuck with viewers, is bizarre - that's just not how TV works.
In addition to that, the encouragement to look at a series with the assumption that it's leading towards the desired ship, and working backwards to make everything that happens fit into this idea, is also harmful. It leads to a tunnel vision where other characters and plotlines simply cease to matter and what the characters actually say and do is replaced by the fanon interpretation of their actions. Then when a new installment comes and these other narrative elements do matter, and characters don't behave in ways that are coherent with the (highly elaborate and insubstancial) view they have of them, they resent it. Because it's not coherent with the story they made up in their heads (i.e. B*l*r shippers being shocked and upset that Will isn't treated as a main character, when he hasn't gotten an actual storyline in ages; or being mad at Mike ignoring Will to focus on El, when that's been his consistent behaviour since they got together).
Going back to the "you just don't trick your audience to root for a different couple if your goal is to tell another story", I also want to add that even if that were the case, it would be pretty shitty storytelling. It shocks me that people don't realise that. Prior to vol. 2 airing, I saw a b*l*r on Reddit say that, because Mike saying "I love you" to El was so heavily foreshadowed, that meant it wouldn't happen, because it was too predictable and they were definitely going to subvert it. This is bad media literacy. As a rule, it is a good thing when the audience, at large, can tell what the characters' emotional turmoils are, and where their arcs are going. Basically: if you need a 300 slide long document to convince people a love story is taking place, then it's not a very good love story.
Finally, the poisoning of discourse comes from the (inevitable) disappointment that follows all this, and that, also inevitably, turns into vitriol. The word "queerbaiting" has lost all meaning because of how many times shippers use it to mean "my two favorite dudes didn't kiss". And that's not even getting into the accusations of homophobia and "bad writing" towards anyone involved in the property they're invested in. It makes actual discussion of the way the story uses its gay characters very difficult to have.

Mass exodus of spideychelle? Is that why no one writes for it anymore. Seems so unfair. Also can we bring the Coffee bean gang into Mcu? Peter needs a friend group. But iron man, he can stay dead dead dead. I also hated when he called Peter a kid. Really infantilized him. In the garfield movies peter is only 2 yrs older and yet he got the chance to act grown up. Not fair at all. Why can't the MCU let peter grow up?
I can only guess why so many people stopped writing for MCU PeterMJ, but tbh a lot of the same “excuses” I’ve seen are just the irondad exodus post EG 2.0
“Peter and MJ are broken up” so write them together. The fandom was built off 2 seconds of screen time in 2017, so what now
“The ending makes me sad” ignore the ending, pretend it didn’t happen. Did we not all do that for the identity reveal post FFH?
“Idk if they’re coming back” Since when has that ever mattered for fandom? The movie made a billion dollars I doubt it’s anyone’s interest to NOT make more movies but even if it that’s the case, irondad made the top 100 ship list for 2022 and Tony’s been dead for four fucking years so???
My hot take and theory is that a lot of spideychelle were really just glorified t0mdayas fans, not caring about the spider-man aspect of Peter Parker and proud of it which people are allowed to do what they want and I’m allowed to wonder what the hell they were doing here in the first place. Peter isn’t some random love interest OC and neither is MJ, they’re adaptations of characters with decades of lore. No one has to know or even care about the comics to enjoy the MCU versions but it’s pretty damn transparent people care less about the characters vs the actors when it’s post NWH and I can count on one hand how many people consistently write for this pairing in a given month.
Interests change and fandom is meant to be fun but I swear people lack creativity. For a fandom that was literally built off of 1) not giving a shit about the comics and 2) having NO canon to speak of, it’s really frustrating that now that we have SOME canon to work with— no one really cares to do so.

For the ask game: Yugioh, Komaeda x Hajime, and L Death Note! Feel free to do more also, I think you should do bakugo also for the character one just 4 fun ❤️❤️
001 | Send me a fandom and I will tell you my:
Yugioh:
Favorite character:
Yugi!!! he's my blorbo i love him so much i'd kill 4 him
Least Favorite character:
umm yami marik scares me. his duel against mai in the manga is utterly terrifying
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon):
PUZZLESHIPPING! the ship ever. soulmates. they ARE canon to me i'm sorry
wishshipping! nothing like some good old yuujou <3
dragonshipping, very underrated in my opinion, atem loves jou so fucking much
would it be cheating so say feathershipping here? puzzle + wish + dragon, what's not 2 like?
heartshipping. they're cute :)
Character I find most attractive:
mai <3
Character I would marry:
anzu?
Character I would be best friends with:
i wanna hang out with yugi so bad, yuugi mutou are you free this friday let me know if u want to hang out this friday when i am free
a random thought:
nobody understands atem actually. there are like 3 fic authors who Get Him and everyone else is wrong i'm sorry
An unpopular opinion:
yugi IS a better duelist than atem. some of you know this and are correct, but many people out there are blind to the truth.
My Canon OTP:
very funny to me that there are literally no canon ships in yugioh. takahashi was like "ok i'm gonna set up the barebones for some ships" and then he just. never came back to them ever. the peachshipping scene in duelist kingdom is so cute and then it just never happens again. iconic. in my mind puzzle is canon tho so i'll go w/ that <3
My Non-canon OTP:
it's still puzzle! they're everything 2 me. in theory i like lots of other ygo ships but i only ever actually read or care about puzzle sorry
Most Badass Character:
i guess it's atem? but that's not the side of him that i like the most, i prefer him when he's just a guy
Most Epic Villain:
thief king bakura is kinda sick not gonna lie. his intro when he breaks into the castle w/ atem's dad's mummy is so cool and sexy of him
Pairing I am not a fan of:
prideshipping can never work tbh i'm sorry. the only acceptable prideshipping is insane pining kaiba and atem just being like. okay. can i go home now i want to see my partner. dude just literally does not care
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another):
kisara girl in another world i KNOW you would have fucked so hard
Favourite Friendship:
...it's still puzzle. am i boring you yet?
Character I most identify with:
this is kind of a hard question. i don't think i'm that similar to any of them actually. but i guess atem is my uwu sadboy that i can project on sometimes
Character I wish I could be:
tbh i want yugi's life where's MY magic jewelry that has my soulmate inside it
002 | Send me a ship and I will tell you:
komahina:
When I started shipping them:
tbh immediately upon starting the game. during their first conversation i was like. yeah i'm not gonna be normal about this
My thoughts:
they're in love and they're really so very bad at it <3
What makes me happy about them:
island mode is so funny actually, komaeda is a horrible guy to date. anywhere you take him there's like a 50/50 chance of him being like. god this sucks i thought you liked me but i guess you hate me goodbye forever. and then hinata shakes it off and goes out with him again. over and over. obsessed with the unpredictability of this man. he is SO bitchy and high maintenance and yet we cannot stay away
What makes me sad about them:
komaeda's attitude change post-final dead room is really both funny and very sad to play. one day he's your insane bestie who loves you so much and the next day he's like actually i hate you, you are a worthless little worm with no talent and i can't fucking stand being in the same room with you. :((((((((( bestie don't say that
Things done in fanfic that annoys me:
you can't make komaeda normal. please god you cannot do that to him. i'm so utterly obsessed with everything that's wrong with him that if you try to fix him, i will simply not read it
Things I look for in fanfic:
i really like it when fic writers are able to turn the funny repeated voice lines like "THAT'S WRONG!!!!" or "I AGREE WITH THAT!" into plot-relevant and emotionally affecting moments
My wishlist:
i want them to make out and be weird and fucked up together idk
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:
tbh i don't think komaeda could be with anyone else. hinata theoretically could go out w/ other characters, esp chiaki, but i wouldn't really care. hinanami is far too normal for me, it's the insanity of komaeda that really draws me in, so hinata could definitely go out w/ nanami, i simply would not read it or care about it
My happily ever after for them:
i guess they cure komaeda's cancer and get him to a more functional but still insane mental state and then they hang out and bother each other forever. they get married someday and komaeda still says the usual komaeda shit about "wow i'm so happy right now, i wonder who's going to die because of this :)"
003 | Give me a character & I will tell you:
L:
How I feel about this character:
he's SO cool and awesome and i like him so much.
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character:
yeah it's just light.
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character:
we barely see this, but i do like to imagine L's relationship w/ the other wammy kids.
My unpopular opinion about this character:
DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT make him normal or nice or sane. you cannot sadboy woobify this man into being a sympathetic romantic lead. he is absolutely just as insane and unethical as light and this fact must be acknowledged
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:
i wish he & light had angrily made out at least once before L died. they really both needed it so bad
Favorite friendship for this character:
i guess maybe naomi?
My crossover ship:
tbh i simply do not have any crossover ships for anything. ships stay in their canon for me
Bakugo
How I feel about this character:
i literally cannot stand him. he may be one of my least favorite fictional characters ever written. he sucks so bad that he drives me completely insane every second he's on screen. i would kill him if i saw him irl
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character:
kirishima, i guess? but i don't like care about it bc that would involve caring about bakugo.
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character:
like. bakugo & going to therapy? bakugo & staying dead this time ???
My unpopular opinion about this character:
HE SUCKS. SO BAD. HE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE ANY EXCUSES HE'S JUST TERRIBLE
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:
i wish he would die❤️ or at the very least he should go to therapy, apologize to izuku, and then never show up onscreen again
Favorite friendship for this character:
i don't care
My crossover ship:
no
