Can I ask you something? What if pregnant reader who is single after someone break up with her and few days later she met Yamato and spend time together? Will Yamato and pregnant reader have feelings for each other? Will Yamato be good stepfather to her child? I don’t mind what gender is. I don’t mind if you add nsfw
Hey there, Anon! Your question got a bit out of hand, and I think I went a bit off course, but I still think it's a nice scenario you picked there ;D
Tumblr media
~ X ~
after the break-up, the reader is obviously pretty down. It only gets worse when they find out they are pregnant
Being a single parent? How are they going to support themselves, not even talking about a baby? Especially when they’re highly pregnant, they can’t go on missions or work in their field as a shinobi.
Reaching out to their ex doesn’t work out. When they go and ring at their ex’s door, no ones opening, their shared friends won’t say anything, and only slowly, the reader realizes that the ex fled from Konohagakure.
They meet Yamato when they are at their darkest moment. Sitting in a park on a wooden bench, staring into the air and trying to figure out what they are supposed to do now?
Yamato notices the reader because they reek of despair. He isn’t sure if he can or should help them, but when a tear rolls down their face without them even making a single sound or blinking, he panics.
Oh god. They are crying. They are crying. Fuck, what do I do?
I picture Yamato as someone who is really weak to tears, to the point he always carries some handkerchiefs with him, just in case. A last line of defense against the evil water works ;D
He carefully inches closer, fingers fiddling with the small package
“Excuse me? Uhm, sorry to interrupt. I just… here are some handkerchiefs…”
The reader takes the handkerchiefs with a small nod. More tears roll down, coming faster and faster, only for the first sob to finally break free.
Yamato panics even more. Looking around, he automatically checks if there’s some kind of friend or family for the reader around, but no one is nearby
Then, still ready to bolt any second, he slowly sinks onto the bench. Though, with a heavily weeping person beside him, Yamato feels really out of this depth and like he shouldn’t be there.
Their sobs and tears flow quickly and heavily. There doesn’t seem to be an end in sight and at some point, Yamato just pats their shoulder. A little gentle pant, nothing more.
Reader instantly gasps out and looks at him for the first time.
“Oh god.” Still with tears running down their face, they scramble up to their feet. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t realize… Fuck, I’m… I’m just a mess. Sorry for that.”
“No worries.” The answer comes so quickly Yamato isn’t even aware he opened his mouth.
Through swollen eyes and the curtain of tears, the reader tries to make out who helped them. When they recognize the shinobi uniform, they are startled. A shinobi helping them? Comforting them in such an awkward yet sweet way?
They can’t believe it. “Did you… did you give me the handkerchiefs?”
“Yeah.” Yamato nods. “I, uhm… sorry for that, but I also patted your shoulder…? Sorry if that made you uncomfortable.”
“No.” The reader shakes their head. “No, it wasn’t… Thank you. I… I really appreciate that.”
“I… I don’t mean to intrude, but… In my opinion, everything can get better.” Yamato knows he’s clumsy with words, but right then and there he doesn’t care. Later on, he will not be able to sleep and cringe so hard
The first meeting is quickly over. There’s nothing connecting them but the few minutes and the gifted pack of handkerchiefs.
After that meeting, the reader picks themselves up. Sure, they probably will be a single parent, but there are lots of mechanisms in place to help shinobi like them. They just have to apply to some programs.
The next meeting happens at the mission desk. Given the circumstances, the reader has to put in a report and figure out a solution with the higher-ups and medics. There, they meet Yamato again, who just comes back from a mission with Team 7. He is still dirty and worn-out, but the report is freshly written, with all the important details added.
He spots the reader instantly when he enters. They are discussing with a desk shinobi on the side, calmly murmuring and mumbling.
When the reader spots Yamato though, they make a bee line for him.
“You.” Despite the stern approach, they smile at him. “Thanks for the other time.”
“No problem.” Yamato is a bit overwhelmed. His hand with the report trembles faintly, but he simply hides that tremble by switching hands and reaching out. “We didn’t get to introduce ourselves last time, I believe. My name is Yamato.”
“(Y/N).” They smile, and even though there’s a seed of sadness in said smile, Yamato feels his heart jump a bit.
From there on out, they meet more regularly, on a friendly basis. At first, they meet randomly, then the meetings become intentional and planned.
Both Yamato and the reader slowly become enamored with each other, and when the reader confesses that they are pregnant, he is a bit flabbergasted at first
but it’s not a problem for him. He asks a bit about the father, and notices how they tense up at the matter, so he drops it. He gives the reader space, which they are grateful for.
The day they go into labor, their relationship is in this strange state in between friends and lovers. They know they have feelings for each other, but neither of them admits it. It just lingers, but it breaks through when the tension is high.
The reader wants Yamato with them during labor, and so he finds himself holding hands with them and trying to calm them down when the pain becomes too much.
It’s an intense, stressful day, but Yamato wouldn’t want to miss it. In a sense, because he helped the reader during the pregnancy, he feels responsible. He doesn’t recognize his feelings towards the unborn child as what they are, but he will realize… after some time ;D
during the birth, he can’t look at what goes on between the reader’s legs, but focuses on their face instead. He whispers encouragement into their ears, holds their hand and even offers some cuddles without even realizing that it isn’t really appropriate for them
only when the baby is out and the nurse offers him the scissors to cut the cord, Yamato realizes how they both look like. He looks at the reader, who is definitely a bit out of it, all sweaty and exhausted and beat, but a strange, airy smile is splayed across their face.
“Do it,” they say, “I would be happy if you did.”
And so, Yamato cuts the cord. Holding the child for the first time though goes to the reader, he wouldn’t want to take that away from them.
After that, they quickly become close. Their relationship establishes itself, with casual intimacy, holding hands and helping each other, especially with the child. Yamato would lie if he would deny that he didn’t read a few books about childcare exactly for those moments.
Yamato would be a lovely (step) father for the child. He would be nervous and confused, definitely out of his depth, but he would always try his best. Soon enough, he loves the child like he never did anything else, and is completely wrapped around its small chubby fingers. He would do anything for the child and for the reader as well, of course ;D
~ X ~
as you can see, I really went overboard. Two pages of headcanons for this T^T9
Though, I hope you like these, dear Anon! And sorry it took me so long :((

You love Yamato, but he’s too damn big. When you grab his hand in public to keep him from getting lost, your palm barely covers half of his and your fingers don’t go past his knuckles. When a vendor gets too friendly with you, his calloused hand possessively covers your entire hip bone, and when he pulls you into him his body almost swallows you whole. Your thighs barely touch the bed when you’re straddling his, and he has to guide your hips over his tensing muscles, his growls shaking through your entire body as your eyes roll back. With his tongue only halfway inside of you, your hands white knuckled around his horns, you think this will be what kills you. The memory of this man’s tongue, his huge biceps locking you in and his inexperienced fangs digging into your skin when he finally gives you a minute to breathe is enough to have your thighs pressing together when your eyes catch his for more than a moment.

People think that Sue is not prone to envy. But that’s simply not true. It may not seem like she gets jealous but that’s only because she’s really good at hiding her feelings.
She usually doesn’t act on her feelings even though she very often regrets not making a move. Sue let Yuki win over Mammon and the internalized bitterness was astounding. It was hard for her to get over the pain, even though it seemed like she wasn’t suffering at all.
But during her final night in Devildom, Yuki insisted on inviting Lucifer to their little get together. Fearing that Yuki would win Lucifer’s heart as well, Sue finally did something. Of course, she did it in a way so that no one would suspect that she was jealous. Sue used the mother-like authority to send Yuki back to the attic with the boys and insisted that it was for her safety. When she realized what she had done and why she was doing it, she was shocked and ashamed of herself.
She was envious of her friend and she was going through all that trouble for a demon, the very beings she vowed to keep away from. For a moment, she considered turning back and apologizing, finally letting her feelings go. But her desire for Lucifer was much stronger.
Sue goes forward, finally doing what she had been keeping off for far too long. She confessed to Lucifer.

~Lost~ Chapter 3: Meeting the Hokage
Pairing: Kakashi x Reader x Iruka
Rating: sfw (for now)
Chapter 1, Chapter 2
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A little while later, you arrived at the temporary village. The sun had almost set, but everybody was still working hard. As you walked past the first row of tents, you could overhear a few words here and there. There was a tired looking man wearing a green vest and a metal shield framing his face discussing with a man who was wearing a similar vest and a bandana.
"Yes Genma, my wood style jutsu also has limits. I can only create so many buildings a day."
Wood style jutsu, huh? That must come in handy, although he really looks extremely exhausted. I just hope the poor man doesn't collapse right there.
"Here we are, (Y/N). I suggest you wait outside because I would like to talk to the Hokage alone first. You can come in when I call you, okay?", Kakashi said and you could see his eye form the reassuring smile you had seen a few times already. You returned the smile and nodded before he entered the tent.
After the long walk and all the new information you had to process, the exhaustion finally started to kick in. You put your backpack down. Had it always been this heavy? After just a few minutes you heard Kakashi call your name, so you grabbed your stuff and entered the office.
It took you barely a second to notice the tension in the room. Kakashi stood in front of a desk with a serious look on his face, although his look softened a bit when he saw you walk in. Behind the desk sat an older man, his forehead and right eye covered up by bandages.
"He's dangerous" was the first thought to cross your mind. The strange man then started to eye you up and down, which sent a shiver down your spine. You could not remember the last time you felt this uncomfortable.
"So you are the foreigner...tell me your name."
You stepped forward and bowed your head down a bit.
"It is (Y/N) (Y/l/N), um..sir. I did not intent to come to this village, but I would like to stay here for a while, if possible."
"Hmm, I see..." He closed his eye and leaned forward in his chair, folded his hands and rested his chin on them.
"You can stay in Konoha."
Your body relaxed a bit. This went smoother than you expected.
"...under three conditions", the Hokage continued. Oh no, here it comes, you thought and held your breath.
"Number one: you make yourself useful for the village. I heard that you are not a shinobi, but I am sure you can still be of some sort of help." Alright, you had already expected that. But what were the other two conditions?
"Number two: you must undergo an interrogation by the intel division right after we're finished here."
That's when Kakashi stepped in: "Lord Danzo, is this really necessa-" But he was cut off." If I remember correctly, I am the Hokage now, not you. She may seem innocent on the outside, but I cannot be sure that she's not an enemy spy. She has nothing to fear if she's really that innocent. Now my last condition: It will be your mission, Kakashi, to watch over her every move. Since you're the one who decided to bring her here, she's your responsibility."
A kind of evil looking grin appeared on Danzo's face. Something else is going on here. There's no way this is all just about me. You looked over to Kakashi to watch his reaction. His brow furrowed for a moment, but then he just nodded once.
"Of course."
Danzo returned his attention back to you. "Any objections?", he said in a threatening tone. I don't care how intimidating he seems, I'm not going to let him daunt me like that. You looked him in the eye and said: "Fine by me. Helping to rebuild the village is the least I can do. I'm going to undergo the interrogation, whatever helps you sleep at night. I have nothing to hide."
A few seconds of silence followed, Danzo and you staring at each other. Then after what seemed like an eternity, the Hokage clapped twice and two ANBU members appeared in front of you.
"Follow us."
When your group arrived at the tent of the intel division, one of the ANBU ninjas stopped Kakashi from entering the tent by holding his arm in front of the gray-haired ninja. "We will take it from here. You wait outside." Kakashi seemed fairly unbothered. "I am not allowed to leave her side. Orders from the Hokage."
The ANBU member lowered his arm and let out a discontent noise. You then entered a room with a single chair with some chains attached. You felt panic rising inside of you, but the thought that Kakashi was present was calming. He was your only ally at the moment and you already saw what he was capable of. Also you had nothing to fear, right? Two men entered the room and one of them pointed at the chair, so you sat down on it. They used the chain to tie your hands and legs to the chair.
"My name is Ibiki Morino, and this is Inoichi Yamanaka. We won't hurt you if you play along. I'm going to ask you a few questions first, and then Inoichi will take a look at your thoughts and memories. Understood?" Wait, they can do that? What's next, teleporting? Resurrection?
The interrogation lasted about half an hour. Inoichi stood up and shook his head. "All of her thoughts and most of her memories are in a strange language that I've never heard before. But from what I could see, the story she told you is the truth, Ibiki. I don't see her as a threat to the village."
"Alright then, you're free to go."
TRANSCRIPT #1 Interview date & time: February 20, 2016, 0630 Interview of: Fushiguro Toji (F.T.) Case #: 16-100020 7 Location: Office of Superintendent Masamichi Yaga (Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department) Interview by: Special Agent Atsuya Kusakabe (A.K.)
On February 20th of 2018, Special Agent Atsuya Kusakabe interviewed Fushiguro Toji at the office of Superintendent Masamichi Yaga.
F.T.: Can someone tell me what is going on?
A.K.: Good morning, Fushiguro-san. I’m required by law to tell you this interview will be recorded and transcribed.
F.T.: Not exactly good when you're held against your will, mister....?
A.K.: Special Agent Atsuya Kusakabe. I have a few questions for you. F.T:  You’ve been shitting on me since last night... I doubt you’d take any other answer aside from yes
A.K.: You can lose the sarcasm, Fushiguro-san and, again- sit down. The sooner we get this done, the sooner you get out and see L/N-san at the hospital.
(silence)
(sound of a picture sliding)
F.T.: It’s a case. We closed it. You saw what happened. She was on the papers. Front page of the ‘Yomiuri shimbun’ a few days ago.
A.k.: Right, you both did.  (Speaking at the recorder.)
A.K.: The time is presently 0630 HOURS, on FRIDAY the 20th of February. This is Special Agent Kusakabe, and I am here at the office of Superintendent Masamichi Yaga in the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department to interview Fushiguro Toji, DOB 12/31/**. This is case number 16-100020 7 Before we begin, let me iron out the report here. Your last name Fushiguro is spelled F-U-S-H-I-G-U-R-O and your first name, Toji is spelled T-O-J-I? And you were born on 12/31/**, right?
F.T.: (Scoffs) I told you-
A.K: Fushiguro-san, the sooner you answer everything here, the sooner you get to walk out those doors and see L/N-san at the hospital...
(silence)
F.T.: Fine, what do you want?
A.K.: Please confirm if I have the details that I previously stated, right.
F.T.: You do.
A.K.: and you currently live in ****, am I right? Your contact phone number is ****?
F.T.: Yes.
A.K.: Alright, Fushiguro-san. That's better... You used to go by the name [redacted] Toji, am I right? Dual citizenship. You lived in London with your mother-
F.T.: What does this have to do with anything?
A.K.: Very brief Background check. Please refrain from saying anything else needed and only stick to answering the question.
(silence)
F.T: Yes, I used to go by the name [redacted] Toji. Yes, I grew up with my mother in London. Went to college there, met my wife there... I changed my last name after I-ah, married my wife...we moved back here late 90′s, I believe. You got whatever you have there right, I guess.
A.K.: You currently have one son who is under the care of the [redacted] due to mental inc-
F.T.: I apologize but could we skip the family and very personal background check? My boy, my dead wife, my blood family, and my mental illness have nothing to do with this interview or this case.
A.K.: Again, I’m making sure the file is right. Please try to control yourself, we can detain you for a longer period because of the gravity of the situation you were in last night.
F.T.:  You have the fucking file right through and through. What I don’t get is why I’m being treated as a suspect when I was clearly the victim. Isn’t this against my rights?
(silence)
(Paper shuffling)
A.K.: You were walking in the middle of Shibuya station during rush hour, at quarter to seven last night with a bomb strapped on you… You should be thankful that because of your big help to the precinct that you aren’t treated any less...
F.T: I had a sniper pointed at my forehead. If I hadn’t kept walking, I’d be shot and the bomb would go off; killing more people. (silence) (chair moving) Now, tell me, what would you have done?
(inaudible voices)
(redacted)
A.K.: Let’s skip a few pages then. You moved back to London again and joined the military after your wife died back in the early 2000’s, leaving your few month old son with the family you quote and quote aren’t in any good terms with. You went back here ten years later, last 2014. Only to move in with Y/N L/N, why?
F.T.: What do you mean, why? I had no money. You can’t exactly afford London or Tokyo with an army pension especially when you have a therapist and a P.T. to pay for. It didn’t cover any of that.
A.K.: Yet your medical license wasn’t revoked by the board. You could’ve taken the exams here and continued practicing medicine as soon as you arrived. It paid good money and might even help you get your son back. Based from your file, you skipped a few grades, graduated a consistent scholar from your undergrad until medical school in the UK,  seemed to be very good and rose to the ranks as a consultant physician in the army, even-
F.T.: You have the file. (silence) You know from the therapists notes that I had ah- brief episodes from the trauma and it came along with some comorbidities at that time. I even thought I had PTSD at one point and had psychosomatic symptoms that manifested on my left leg. What makes you think I’d be in the right mind to treat people? Much less get back the custody of my child? They’d use that against me, get my license revoked permanently, and I wouldn’t be able to see my fucking kid again...ever...
(silence)
A.K.: Alright, thank you for clarifying that. It’s just..(silence) not everyday do you see opposite sex individuals living together in this country… Correct me if I’m wrong but you were both strangers, were you not? You just met her two years ago?
F.T.: I did. She ah- she was looking for someone to lodge with, she wasn’t picky with the gender... As was I, western culture doesn’t really have a problem with opposite sex flatma- i mean, roommates...
A.K.: Did you ever get to ask her why?
F.T.: She’s…(silence) she’s never told me… But I believe she needed an assistant.  Someone well aware in the field of medicine. It made sense why she asked or purposely slipped in a little story to Kong Shiu, someone I used to work with when I practiced here twelve-thirteen years ago. The man knew doctors. He knew how open I was as well to the idea of sharing a flat- I mean, an apartment with someone like her.
A.K.: And you started helping her out with her cases. Were the dead bodies not a reminder of your time with the army? You mentioned trauma and (paper shuffling) self-diagnosis for PTSD earlier at one point and I assume that’s after you had returned to Tokyo...Seeing something so similar especially with your perspective then...
F.T.: The trauma was more or less due to the injury on my arm, not the bodies I encountered. The base was attacked while I was deployed on field. They weren’t able to strap me on some protective gear since they needed to get me out, I ended up shattering a bone and grazing my subclavian artery in the process.
(silence)
F.T.: I also almost got my arm cut off but as my wife used to say, god’s good… I ended up getting discharged with a shit pension and luckily, my arm intact. I met Y/n while I was in the middle of seeing a therapist for my psychosomatic disorder and P.T. for my arm.
(silence)
A.K.: And how did that work?
F.T.: What do you mean? My arm?
A.K.: You, being the assistant of the most brilliant minds of Japan.
(silence)
F.T.: I don’t know. I was deadbeat, alright? I had no place to go with no plans. I guess you could say its exciting…
A.K.: Excuse me?
(Silence)
F.T.: look, I had just lost a long term job, something I thought I’d be doing for a longer period if it wasn’t for that injury...My son who I still haven’t communicated with due to personal issues.... (silence) again, you have the file there... it was simply a horrible time for me and then I met Y/N and her unconventional lifestyle; chasing around murderers, underground dealers, criminals... She’s a smart woman who knew how to hold her ground and knew her way around things … She helped me out in some way… it’s more or less the ah- she had a explanation for that… apparently I had a constant need to chase things around and deal with high-octane adrenaline fueled situations because I enjoyed it and it made me feel like I was doing something useful... or that’s how she worded it..
A.K.: No other personal feelings were involved towards L/N-san, then?
(silence)
F.T.: She’s a... a very good partner and a dear friend who I owe a lot to, if that's what you’re asking.
A.K.: Alright, wasn’t so hard now was it? We will be taking note of this while we investigate further...Now onto, the next question...
❀ How to request ❀
❀ For a one shot fic, only one or two characters❀ Make a description, “(Name) x Y/n; fluff; star gazing.”
❀ Be as detailed with your request as you want it will probably help me understand with more details and get your request more to your liking, like tell me what y/n’s personality should be like if they're calm and easy or hot headed and sassy
❀ For headcanons up to 5 characters max
❀ Tell me the topic of the headcanons you want, “star gazing with (name(s)”
❀ Or maybe even send a song/specific lyrics to use as inspiration for a fic, “Strangers in the night by Frank Sinatra.”; “Something in my heart, told me I must have you.”;; “The Winner Takes it all by Abba.” “Somewhere deep inside, you must know I miss you, but what can I say, rules must be obeyed.”
.・ 。 . ・ ゜✭ ・ . ・✫ ・゜・ .
I’ll get to you as soon as I can and I'll try my best with your story!
Rules for Requests and Commissions!
It’s a little lengthy, so it’s under the cut. If you want to request something or help me out through college with commissions, please read through these~
So, who exactly will you write about?
As this series has many, many characters, here’s the ones that I will write for:
STARISH
Quartet Night
HEAVENS [Nagi is SFW only]
Haruka
Tomochika
Please note that there are certain exceptions to these rules, but these will be explained further down (see What are the no-no’s for requests/commissions?).
What can I request?
I can write short headcanons and one-shots.
For headcanons, please keep in mind that there are rules to how many characters can be included per request. For Utapri, it’s up to 5 per request (exceptions include requesting all of STARISH or all of HEAVENS)
For one-shots, requests will be shorter than commissioned works, having a maximum of 1000 words.
How many requests will you take?
I will take 15 requests before closing the box. Once I close it, I’ll delete any request received before reopening. Once the box has 5 requests or less, I’ll reopen the box for requests. If you really want me to write something...there’s always commissions!
What can I commission?
I take commissions on longer one-shots! (See also How long can my commission be?)
What do you charge for commissions?
The prices are very simple for my works.
SFW: $0.50 USD for every 100 words
NSFW: $0.75 USD for every 100 words
The baseline is as simple as that! I do have minimums and maximums for word counts you can request, but if you want to know how much you need to pay for a certain amount of words, just use this for reference. I specify lengths of commissions you can request and their respective prices in How long can my commission be?.
How do I request a commission? How do I pay?
You can send in a commission request one of two ways. If you have a Tumblr account, all you have to do is DM me! If you don’t have one or can’t DM, that’s okay! Just send your request to my email, [email protected], and we can work through it there. I strictly work through PayPal for payment. Further details will be given during the commissioning process.
How long can my commission be?
 have a minimum of 1000 words for any commission, with a maximum of 6000, in theory.
For simplicity, I have created three “tiers” you can ask for when sending in your request and the respective price ranges for each:
Sprout
Length: 1,000-2,999 words
Price Range: (SFW) $5.00-$14.99 USD, (NSFW) $7.50-$22.49 USD
Bud
Length: 3,000-4,999 words
Price Range: (SFW) $15.00-$24.99 USD, (NSFW) $22.50-$37.49 USD
Bloom
Length: 5,000-6,000 words
Price Range: (SFW) $25.00-$30.00 USD, (NSFW) $37.50-$45.00 USD
What are the no-no’s for requests/commissions?
While I am open and willing to many types of requests and commissions, there are a few subjects that I refuse to write. It is nothing against the requester. The list of “no-no’s” are simply subjects that I do not feel comfortable with writing about. I ask that you do not send commission requests with any of the following:
Any request involving Nagi is restricted to SFW only
I am willing to write Otoya and Cecil as a platonic pairing, but I will not write any request depicting them as a romantic pairing.
The Ootori brothers have a great dynamic that I would love to write about, BUT I will not write them romantically.
I prefer not to write for the romantic pairing Eiichi x Otoya. It is a very sensitive topic within the fandom regarding this “couple”, and I don’t want to approach it with this platform.
If you have a request involving a reader/OC insert, please specify pronouns and/or gender. I will default to gender-neutral and use they/them pronouns, so if you would like a m!reader or f!reader and/or he/him or she/her used, please specify this in your request (see also Can I request “x Reader” or OCs?).
I will not, under any circumstances, take requests or commissions involving the four letter word starting with R.
Other topics that I will rarely write include harming one’s self and deep religious themes. If you really want one of these topics in a commission, I may consider it. However, there will need to be additional discussion before beginning, so keep this in mind.
I hold the right to decline any request or commission offer if I feel I cannot adequately write about the subject requested.
Can I request “x Reader” or OCs?
Absolutely! I just have two requests that you follow, depending on which one you want:
If you are wanting an OC, I would like a description of the character included in the request. Include as much as you can about them; I want to be able to write them in the most accurate way!
For both x Readers and OCs, I ask that you specify the pronouns/applicable gender you want to be used.
What about “OT3s” or polyamorous pairings?
Go ahead! All I ask is that any of the pairings or characters I specified above in the “no-nos” are not included in the group.
Do you have any samples of your work?
As a matter of fact, I do! To show you what your commission may be like, I’ve gathered a few of my works here that fit:
Small Sprout: A work I completed for an Uta no Prince Sama Secret Santa, “Christmas Chicks” (contains 1,688 words)
https://archiveofourown.org/works/17140046
Large Sprout: A piece I completed for an Uta no Prince Sama flashbang, “My Charm Point” (contains 2,507 words)
https://archiveofourown.org/works/17718437
Medium Bud: A work I completed from the Binan Koukou Chikyuu Boueibu series, “Numbers on the Scale” (contains 3,979 words)
https://archiveofourown.org/works/15058601
Can I get a WIP of my commission?
When I have fully written through the commission, I will send it to you as a “first draft phase”. You can ask for any additions or omissions in this phase, and after I will add or delete anything you ask, along with polishing it up and making it just right!
Can I ask for things to be added or removed once you start?
If you ask for any additions or omissions to the work before or during the “first draft phase”, I will gladly make the revisions you ask, free of charge. However, if I am editing the final draft and you ask for any changes, I will add a flat $1 USD fee to the final total.
Will you ever have any sales for commissions?
Funny you should ask…I’m having a system set in place to discount certain characters at certain times of the year, which I call “Birthday Flash Sales”. Which leads to...
What on earth are “birthday flash sales”?
It’s really simple! In order to celebrate the birthdays of the characters I write for, I’ll be having a sale on commissions that include that character! For the day of the character’s birthday and two days before it, the baseline prices of commissions having them will be slashed!
Here’s how it works:
SFW: $0.50 USD per 100 words –> $0.25 USD per 100 words
NSFW: $0.75 USD per 100 words –> $0.50 USD per 100 words
So essentially, SFW works are half price, and NSFW works are the same price as normal SFW works!
The tiers then are altered as follows:
Sprout
Length: 1,000-2,999 words
Price Range: (SFW) $2.50-$7.49 USD, (NSFW) $5.00-$14.99 USD
Bud
Length: 3,000-4,999 words
Price Range: (SFW) $7.50-$12.49 USD, (NSFW) $15.00-$24.99 USD
Bloom
Length: 5,000-6,000 words
Price Range: (SFW) $12.50-$15.00 USD, (NSFW) $25.00-$30.00 USD
Each sale will start at 12:00 AM EST two days before a character’s birthday and end at 11:59 PM EST on the actual birthday.
I will post when the flash sales for a certain character begin, but if you are looking for characters that have a birthday coming up, here are the dates listed below:
Utapri
Nagi: January 7
Camus: January 23
Ren: February 14
Ai: March 1
Haruka (fanon birthday given): March 3
Yamato: March 30
Otoya: April 11
Kira: May 5
Natsuki/Syo: June 9
Tomochika: July 7
Reiji: July 13
Tokiya: August 8
Eiichi: September 1
Ranmaru: September 29
Eiji: October 20
Cecil: October 31
Shion: November 4
Van: December 12
Masato: December 29
If you made it this far, thank you so much! I hope to see your wonderful ideas and prompts in my box or DMs soon!
~Rosy
Lately, I’ve been craving an RP within the Voltage Inc universe, and I figured some people might also wish to do the same. Want to drop and OC or self-insert? It doesn’t matter to me. Want to do an AU where chosen character’s x, y, and z are vampires while our characters happen to be thrown into the gang war between werewolves and vampires? Your OC is Eisuke’s long lost sister that was never mentioned in his main story and now she plots for revenge and teams up with my OC who’s trying to get information on the mysterious occupation that is rumored to take place within his hotel? Cool can’t wait to do it. You want to rp with a guy from one title but I’d prefer having my OC be with a different guy from another title? That’s what cross overs are for, baby. Want to do more than one rp if you get inspiration for another one? Let me know and I’ll be down to do it. Got another Au you want to do? Let me know and I’ll most likely be on board.
I mainly Rp on discord, but I wouldn’t mind RPing on other messaging apps like WhatsApp and Line. I just don’t RP on Tumblr, solely for the fact that I don’t like the format for RPing on here. I’m 23 and in college, but I’ll take the time to RP with you at least once a day if I can. If I’m unable to I will let you know so I don’t leave you hanging. I can do both nsfw and sfw within a roleplay, but if you wish sex comes into the mix, please be 18+ because where I live 18 is the legal age for such activities. Don’t have any rules so far, that way we can create the rules ourselves when we start building our world. If your interested send me a message so I can reply with which platform you prefer out of the ones I listed. Curious but slightly hesitate? Send me a message as well and I’ll try to answer whatever questions you have! Below is a list I complied with guys so far I can RP as. More to come when stories are read and I feel as if I can write for the character.
Rules
This blog is here so that people can have fun. If I see any sort of bullying, I will not hesitate to turn anon off and block the users I see doing it.
That being said, my rules are quite simple, and I ask that you obey them.
First and foremost, THIS IS AN ALL INCLUSIVE BLOG. You ship SebaCiel? Cool. You ship CielLizzy? Cool. You’re trans? Cool. Bi? Cool. Nonbinary? Cool. I will NOT tolerate hate of any kind, especially toward my followers. This includes ship hate, body shaming, and discrimination of any kind.
That being said, I will let it be known I am uncomfortable with otherkin for very, very personal reasons. Please do not reblog my art or writing with kin/ID tags.
I enjoy a good laugh, so I don’t mind the occasional silly question. However, I reserve the right to ignore something I find offensive.
I am caught up with the Black Butler anime, Black Butler II, Book of Circus, Book of Murder, Book of Atlantic, the musicals, and the OVAs. Because of this, I will only be answering asks about things contained in these until I have fully caught up with the manga.
Some asks I receive may be offensive. If I think that there is a chance it could be offensive or triggering to someone, I will place the answer under a cut with the proper warnings.
This blog will not accept roleplay requests.
While some people may find it offensive, I will refer to Grell as female. I can relate to her character in more than one way, and have no intention of denying what I see as canon. I truly hope this doesn’t bother anyone.
This is a work of fiction and should be taken as such. I will NOT tolerate any anti vs anti-anti drama here. Period. The drama I’ve been involved with is toxic and damaging to my own mental health, and I will not argue with anyone over my stances for whatever reason. Don’t like something I post? Either blacklist the tag or block me and move on with your life.
In addition, there are a few things I’d like to list as disclaimers:
I am not responsible for a minor coming across content which is 18+. There are many warnings placed on this blog, and all 18+ content will be tagged as such. This disclaimer also applies for those residing in a place where the content of this blog may be considered illegal in some way.
All characters appearing in 18+ material have been aged up or deemed to be 18 years of age or older.
This is a ship safe blog. If I see ship wars, I will not hesitate to block you. The same goes for any hate I receive in my inbox.
FAQ
Who is Astre?
Astre is my Kuroshitsuji self insert persona, a demon shipped with Joker. I could get into more detail, but honestly, I’d rather not unless you guys want to send asks about him. I’ll happily answer them!
Who you write for?
Long story short, any anime/OVA-canon or musical-canon character. I’m not caught up with manga yet, but I hope to be soon so that I can add the plethora of manga-exclusive characters to my writing portfolio - especially Bravat! Until then I’m most confident writing the anime, OVA, and musical characters for all you lovelies to enjoy~!
Do you have a favorite character to write for?
Despite the fact that most of my confidence comes with writing characters I’m familiar with, there lies a single exception, and he’s actually the answer to this~! I absolutely adore writing for Bravat! He caught my attention from the minute he was introduced, and I’ve done so much research on him that I’ve debated making a full on roleplay blog for him. If I do, I’ll let you all know~
I also really, really enjoy writing for Grell. Her character is one that I can relate to, and back in my early Tumblr years I roleplayed her a lot. maybe if I can ever get into my old account, I’ll revamp her blog and we’ll bring Lady Grell and Sir Red back ;)
Do you, ya know, ship nasty stuff?
This blog ain’t about my ships, hun. I’ve been involved in the anti and anti-anti drama before, and it absolutely destroyed my mental health. I was sent some not-so-good things by some really shitty people on both sides of the debate, so I’ve learned it’s best not to disclose my feelings on the subject. If that bothers you, you can feel free to leave.
Does that mean you won’t write for ships?
Honestly, I’m game for just about anything that isn’t triggering for me - which isn’t much, honestly. That being said, this blog is meant as a “x reader” type blog, so I’d like to keep canon x canon ships away from here if I can.
But if what you’re really asking is “will you write my SebaCiel/SebaReaderCiel smut for me???”, then the answer is no.
So you don’t ship (ship)?
Again, I’m not answering questions like these. My views are my own, and yours are your own. Let’s leave it at that and move on with life, shall we?
Where do you stand on the Great Grell Debate?
Grell is a trans woman, a queen, and I love her. No, I don’t accept criticism.
Can you tag (thing)?
Of course! If you ever need anything tagged, be it a trigger or not, feel free to let me know! I want this blog to be enjoyable for as many as possible, and I know something as simple as tagging can make that difference.
That being said, all asks and scenarios will be tagged with the characters they contain, as well as any ships involved. If need be, I’ll gladly make a tags page so that you guys can figure out how I tag stuff in case my system isn’t easy for some to use.
Do you do matchups?
Yes, but only if you fill out and submit a form. If they get overwhelming, I’ll be limiting how many I accept at a time.
Why do you keep your reader gender neutral?
As someone who’s been in fandom their whole life and realized over 5 years ago that fem-identifying labels didn’t feel right, I understand the struggle to find inclusive content - especially for x reader content. My writing features a gender neutral reader so that others can have what I’ve longed for - inclusive content that hopefully doesn’t isolate them just because it uses female pronouns.
Will you write nsfw/triggering content?
Hell yeah! Dark fiction is my favorite thing to write, so I’d adore to get some darker themed asks here and there. Don’t worry, they’ll all be tagged properly so that anyone who doesn’t like that sort of thing can avoid it.
I use mobile, so I can’t blacklist!
Honey, mobile came out with a blacklist feature some time ago. If you can’t figure out how to use it, either enlist in some help or just avoid my blog altogether. I’m not going to stop writing what I enjoy just because someone doesn’t know how to use the internet.
I’m a minor, can I still follow?
Yeah, I’d rather you not. In my experience, even if I say “as long as you use the blacklist feature!”, we all know that the chances of that happening are very low. So, to avoid that problem, I’m gonna say plainly that I don’t want minors following me.
If I find out that you’re following me and you’re under 18, I won’t hesitate to block you. Period.
But-but-but Tumblr is 13+!
Yeah, well the app is 17+, and this blog is 18+. Life has rules, kid. Get over it and follow them.
I loathe Meiko, I just.. absolutely, completely loathe her existence. Spoilers under the cut
So... Hikari got exactly... zero development and one entire scene in her own movie (which was her getting possessed and then crying “oniichan, oniichan”... that’s ALL), because everyone was too busy falling over themselves literally clinging onto Meiko, comforting Meiko, talking to Meiko, talking about Meiko to each other, worrying about Meiko, telling Meiko how much they care about her, cheering Meiko up, saving Meiko, running after Meiko, etc, the list seriously goes on, holy f*ck I wish I were kidding, but that’s literally what most of the movie is about.
And it gets worse... not just do we have a ton of Taichi x Meiko scenes, which, on their own, would be fine. But we also have Yamato who is more interested in Meiko and how she’s doing and protecting her than thinking about his own bloody girlfriend? He literally doesn’t even go near Sora, but he’s.. super interested in Meiko? Heck, he’s the first to run after her.
Heck, this whole movie literally revolves entirely about all of the original children and their partners continuously thinking and worrying about nothing else than Meiko and Meicoomon. They’re all just unimportant background characters in the Meiko Show.
It’s  d i s g u s t i n g.
Meiko is on the level of a cheap, ineptly written self-insert, except unfortunately for everyone, this hoe is canon.
There are good things in this movie, like the ghost stories and the little scraps that don’t entirely revolve around Meiko and her feelings, for example. Yamato being scared of ghost stories was adorable. The Digimon were adorable, especially Agumon. Heck, the few seconds of screen time Hikari got were good, except for the last one which was a little cringey maybe. Overall I still enjoyed it... especially the last episode is really good. But overall, the first three have wayyyyyy much Meiko. Fuck her tbh. Fuck Meiko.
I didn’t properly hate her until this movie, even after the spoilers and the first five minutes I just..started to dislike her a little... but ughh, after seeing it, I can’t help it, I loathe this character.
Six months after the release party, you and Yamato have fallen into a wonderfully simple routine. Things are about to change, though.
~ X ~
Hey there! Welcome back to the last chapter of The Forest Cat Café ^^
Here we are, at the end of another fic. I'm really happy how this entire thing turned out and I'm so glad you guys liked it, too! :D Sometimes, we all need just a little bit of softness in our lives, together with good food and Yamato and his little diva-cat Kairi ;D Thank you all for the support! All the comments and Kudos mean a lot to me, especially for this fic ^^ Enough talk, enjoy the epilogue! ;D
~ X ~
6 months later…
Waking up had never been easy. Now that a cat laid across your chest and purred away like its life depended on it, didn’t make things any easier.
“Kairiiiii…” A yawn escaped your mouth as your eyes fluttered open. There she was, the diva in the flesh, with her eyes intently set on your face and her paws neatly folded in front of her chest. “Not this again.”
The cat chirped away and yet, didn’t move a single muscle. Just her tail twitched as she watched you, how you yawned and stretched beneath the soft blanket, all the while trying not to move too much to not disturb the cat.
Most of your mornings now were like this. As you turned your head to look over to the other side of the bed, you only saw the vast space where, usually, Yamato would sleep. Probably went earlier to the café to help out. Usually, he would still be there in bed, possibly even running the tiniest bit late to wake up alongside you. A smile flashed over your face as one of your hands stroked over his neatly folded side of the bed.
A demanding meow echoed in the room, and just a second later, Kairi crawled further up, with her paws edging over your body and purring so hard she sounded more like a broken vent.
“Food?” you mumbled. “You damned manipulator. Looking at me with your little eyes and blinking at me.”
Kairi blinked slowly.
“Yeah, don’t think I don’t know what that means. I got you figured out, lady.” With a low grunt, you started to move your upper body upright. Kairi, already used to the little spiel between the two of you, just let herself slide down into your lap, still purring and her tail flicking around. “Yeah, yeah. I’m getting up. No worries about your food. I’m up, I’m up…”
Throughout the entire ordeal of swinging your legs over the edge of the bed, standing up and starting to walk into the kitchen, you handled Kairi with the experience of a few months of regularly sleeping over at Yamato’s place. Most of the time, you went to his place, just because of Kairi and her rightful demands in terms of food and attention. But you also loved his flat to death by now.
In the kitchen, you let Kairi jump out of your arms as soon as she spotted her little bowls set out on a fancy little mat in the corner of the kitchen. Still purring, she sat down beside them, only to look full of expectations and demands in her eyes up to you.
“They’re still half full, you diva.” Still, you sighed, bent over to gently scratch her beneath her chin and grabbed the can with filtered water. “Yamato spoils you so much. But here is your filtered water, your highness.”
You had made the mistake once trying to give her unfiltered water, right when you started to sleep over at Yamato’s place. He hadn’t been home, and you had been able to sleep in, and Kairi demanded to be fed, almost like today. She hissed at you when you tried to fill her bowl at the sink, only stopping when you used the can with the pre-filtered water to fill up the bowl. Now, you had learned enough to also know which food the cat-diva preferred in the morning and in the evening respectively, just like her favorite toys and in-between-snacks.
When Kairi was happily lapping away at her water, you stood and watched her for a moment. In the silence of Yamato’s apartment, the little sounds of the cat were amplified. Closing your eyes, you let your shoulders roll. Not even the hard pops startled Kairi, but they ripped you out of your own stupor.
“Time to get dressed,” you mumbled after a quick look at the nearby clock of the microwave, “and get ready.” You were meant to meet up with Kakashi for lunch at the café, to talk about the progress of his next book, as well as offer him an extended deal. Not only the next two books, but Senju Publishing wanted to keep Kakashi as a house author, with some influence from Uchiha Press when they might ask for it.
You left Kairi to her own devices and went back into Yamato’s bedroom. Some of your clothes waited there, together with some fresh underwear and a few pairs of socks, in a pre-packed bag you tended to keep in the back of your car nowadays. Quickly, you got dressed after you checked the time, noting that you were running a bit later than you would have liked. Still, enough time for you to arrive at the café and get settled there.
When you were ready and made sure Kairi was taken care of, you pulled your shoes on and slung a bag over your shoulder. “See you later, little diva!”
No answer, but you liked to believe that the cat would cry out for you when she noticed your absence.
On the way to the café, you enjoyed the sun coming out. The winter had been long and rainy, a more extended Autumn with so little snow, Christmas almost didn’t feel like a true Christmas. With the spring in full bloom, you enjoyed the warm weather, the smells in the air and the many colorful flowers at the side of the road. Maybe you could convince Yamato to have a little walk in the evening through the nearby park.
The first thing you noticed, when you arrived at the café, were the three young waiters. Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke had their heads stuck together, with Sasuke being a lot more disinterested than the other two. You didn’t even get the chance to properly greet them, before Sakura noticed you. Quickly, she shooed the other two away, before grinning at you.
“Hey there! So good to see you! Here to see the captain, right?”
Speaking of, you couldn’t see Yamato behind the counter. Only Naruto took the place there, instantly engaging with a waiting customer and charming them with his sunny attitude.
You shook your head. “Unfortunately, I have to meet with Kakashi first. Is he already…”
“He isn’t in yet.” The girl gestured to the empty armchair the author usually sat in. The cushion already took on the shape of his ass. The habit of mooching off of Yamato still didn’t stop. “But let me get your seat ready! Do you want anything special?”
“Just a nice tea, I think. The Vanilla chai with cinnamon, perhaps?”
“Right.” Sakura didn’t even have to write down your order, just smiled and nodded. “And the food is taken care of, like always. And… don’t be too surprised.”
“Too surprised?” you echoed. “What am I supposed to be surprised about?”
But the young woman didn’t answer, just wiggled her eyebrows in that special annoyingly knowing look you already knew and left you to your own devices. You could only look after her, how she and Naruto continued to talk and snicker behind the cash register, both of them throwing some glances into your direction.
Sitting down at your usual table, which was thankfully free, you couldn’t help but wonder what Sakura meant. What did she want to tell you with that? You shouldn’t be too surprised? About what exactly? Did they plan something? Some kind of surprise?
Well, of course there will be a surprise. But why did she say it like that…
“Sasuke?” You called out to the young man who just walked by with a pair of menus in hand. “Can you… Sakura mentioned a surprise. Or that I shouldn’t be too surprised about something. Is it something bad?”
He stopped beside your table, and you understood instantly why. The table which obviously waited for their menus was another group of giggly girls, all of them snickering among themselves and throwing looks into his direction. He shrugged, features like always disinterested and flat. “I only marginally know what’s going on. It’s nothing bad, that much I can tell you.”
“And not a hint for me? Your favorite customer?”
“I have no favorite customers.”
“And we both know that is a lie.” You threw a smile at him. “But your resistance to the inevitable is duly noted.”
Sasuke rolled his eyes as he walked off, but you still liked to believe that there was some kind of affection for your mild teasing. For sure, you had to be his favorite customer, at least right here and now in the café. The competition wasn’t too big at the moment, just the table with the giggly girls as well as an older couple just ordering their food and drinks with Naruto. The other customers were all sitting outside, enjoying the sun and fresh air of the spring.
Really, the day started off so well, but now with that unspecified surprise looming over your head, you couldn’t sit still anymore. Constantly fiddling with your phone, looking over your shoulder to check for either Yamato or Kakashi arriving, and with your leg bouncing up and down like crazy, you resembled more someone on a sugar rush or on a serious coffee withdrawal than someone about to meet with their client.
The door in your back chimed. Instinctively, you turned around. Kakashi finally arrived, like always a bit fashionably late and also like always looking like he just fell out of bed. Maybe even more so than usual, with dark circles beneath his eyes and obviously haggard to the point of making you worry.
“Hey there… Are you alright? You’re not looking so good.”
“Yeah…” He slid into the seat opposite of you. “I’m also… I don’t know, the book is running me around like crazy.”
“That bad, huh?”
He shook his head. “No, no. It’s wonderful. I’m just… It needs to be as good as the first one, you know? Otherwise, you guys wouldn’t get what you paid for, right?”
Oh no. The doubts already started. The doubts and the worries and the thoughts of failure every creative person faced at one point in their lives now came to him a thousandfold because of the contract and the obligations now cracking down on him.
You had to calm him down, now. And work with him extensively to avoid Kakashi burning himself out before he could even light up properly.
“Kakashi, you don’t have to work that hard and make sure your book is a success. It is fine. There’s still lots of time to rewrite parts of it. For now, there is no pressure at all. We need the full book maybe by the end of the year, and even then you still have some more months of time. We don’t expect you to work at a fast pace. Calm down, take your time and please,” you smiled at Kakashi, just in time for your tea to be placed in front of you, “do not stress yourself so much. You have many people to rely on if you need help. First and foremost me, but also Yamato, your father and other friends. Please, do not worry.”
A small step to build him up, but necessary and oh so important.
You hadn’t looked up who exactly dropped off your tea, but when you felt someone still standing there, you looked up. And a smile formed on your face.
“Hey there.”
“Hey yourself. Slept well?” Yamato bent down to you, and you raised your head to accept the quick kiss. And he added, after a few seconds: “Oh, hey there, Kakashi.”
“Hey, Tenzo.”
“I told you not to call me that.”
“Ah, you like it.”
“You look like shit.”
“So mean to your old senpai…” Kakashi shook his head slowly while scooting out of the booth. “So, so mean. But alright, I will leave you two alone, so you can do whatever two lovebirds do.”
His knuckles graced the table, knocking two times, then the man was gone, like mist chased away by strong sunlight.
Looking up to Yamato, you gestured weakly towards the spot where Kakashi sat. “You heard him. Please, sit down with me.”
“With pleasure.” A grunt escaped him as he sat down, but then there he was: with his usual white t-shirt with the dark words “Forest Cat Café” right where his big heart was, a black half-apron tied around his waist and with a light sheen of sweat on his forehead. You reached out and wiped some of his hair stuck to his forehead away, mirth crinkling your lips.
“Working hard, huh? Did you drink enough?”
Yamato had at least the decency to look guilty. “I’m trying… but it was really stressful this morning. I still have the water bottle in my office, though.”
“It’s fine, I get it.” Your hand slipped down, easily finding its place in the palm of his hand. Your fingers intertwined, right there on the table. Even though so much time had already passed, sometimes you still marveled at the simple contact with someone who didn’t shy away from your touch. The touch lasted just for a second, then you got up and walked towards the backroom. Inside the tiny room with the crammed and really messy desk, you nearly missed the water bottle, hidden away beneath the table inside a small bag. It took a moment to fiddle with the fabric, but you managed to grab the water bottle. Filtered water, of course, but yet untouched.
He does way too much, works too much.
Maybe it’s time for a little weekend getaway. Yamato surely needs it.
And I need it too. Just somewhere Kakashi can’t reach me over the phone. Or Tsunade.
When you came up again, you spotted a small picture of you standing on his desk. That one was new, but definitely appreciated. It had to be one of the pictures from a few months ago, taken while spending Christmas together. It had him, you and Kairi sitting together, the two humans with hideous sweaters on and the cat sitting in a box and looking up to the small, fake Christmas tree. You remembered that evening clearly, as the Christmas party inside Yamato’s flat was truly a sight to see. And hear, as Sasuke had brought a karaoke machine on the insistent begging of Naruto and Sakura.
For another second, you stared at the image, captured by the memories, before waking up from your little trip down memory lane. Right. Yamato needed to be hydrated.
Coming out of the small office, you could see how Naruto and Sakura were standing right beside the table where Yamato still sat. They had trays in their hands, but were way too busy talking to their boss to notice the weight.
It had to be about the surprise. So, it was only natural to want to know more. And what better way but to eavesdrop?
Still, eavesdropping in itself was a shitty move. What if there was something else going on; something which wasn’t for your ears to hear? But unfortunately, your curiosity won over your decency and manners. So, you tip-toed closer and closer, always aware that Naruto and Sakura could turn around at any given moment, or, which was more likely, that Yamato could spot you.
Closer and closer you inched, straining your ears to catch every single word.
“... So exciting!” That was Sakura. She had one of her hands placed against her waist, the other easily balancing out her tray. Her face was all rosy; features relaxed and happy. “That is so exciting, to think-!”
“Yeah,” Naruto interrupted, “it’s so cool! And we’re kind of the cause of it, believe it!”
“The cause…?” Yamato seemed puzzled for a moment. Then, understanding seemed to dawn on him, measured at his tone. “Wait, you guys… Don’t tell me-!”
“Oh, we surely did!” Sakura cackled. Then, to your horror, she started to count off certain incidents with her fingers, one by one, and you finally realized what the girl was talking about. “(Y/N) going to the self-defense course, so she can see you at your physical best. The entire summer weekend, with all the dancing and the sunscreen and sleeping in one room… The Christmas party with the spiked egg nog…”
“That was you?”
“To be fair,” the girl raised her hands, “I was at my wits end. And tipsy too.”
That was why the Christmas party slash Karaoke night went so out of hand. A smile turned up the corners of your mouth, which you tried to hide. Still, you must have made a slight sound, as Yamato suddenly turned around in his seat, only to spot you, how you tried to hide a wide grin and your obvious glee at the discovery.
“There you go,” he gestured into your direction, so Naruto and Sakura whipped their heads around, “now we finally know who ruined a perfectly fine egg nog.”
“I can’t believe you would do this.” Shaking your head in fake disappointment, you squeezed yourself into the small space where Yamato sat. Even though he scooted aside, it was still a tight fit. But you wouldn’t want it any other way and instinctively, you reached over to take one of his hands into his. “Ruining egg nog. Really, Sakura? And all of that for the purpose of…?”
“Well, obviously,” the girl still had the confidence to look smug, “to get you two closer together.”
“We were together at the Christmas party. We literally cuddled right in front of your eyes. What else were we supposed to do?”
“Should we make out right in front of your eyes?” Even without looking, you knew Yamato tried to hide a grin forming on his face. His free hand slid up the side of your body, only to come to a rest at the back of your neck, lightly yet possessively attaching himself to you. An unusually open gesture for him. “Like, right now? In front of you guys?”
Cue the expected disgusted retching and them both vanishing way too quickly.
Yamato grumbled lowly under his breath. “They got way too nosey lately. They should focus more on their studies than our lives.”
“True.” The hand in the back of your neck moved, his fingers digging lightly into a knot you had no idea was there. “Especially since we got together. They have way too much time on their hands, apparently.”
“Mhmm… I should really cut off the electricity to the dishwasher and make them do it by hand.”
“Sounds like a great plan to me. But… after you finish this with your hands, please.”
He hummed, while still continuing to gently massage the base and back of your neck. Warmth spread at the innocent yet intimate touch; warmth and care and love as you leaned into his fingers, with your eyes fluttering close and a moan living in your chest.
“With pleasure.” His voice washed over you like the ocean, all quiet and safe and comforting. You leaned more into him, getting closer as it should be possible, snuggling into his side and nearly moaning as he continued to massage.
Only a few light steps woke you up, but you still kept your eyes shut and face buried in Yamato’s shoulder, even when something heavy was settled onto the table right in front of you.
“The other two didn’t want to come close,” Sasuke’s voice made you at least open one eye, “as you were, and I quote here, “disgustingly happy with each other”. And Sakura said something about having to do something special for the next café-party. As an apology.”
Without another word, the young adult turned away, ready to face some more giggling of annoying customers and hopefully earning a huge tip for his efforts.
For another few precious moments, you relished in the closeness of Yamato and breathed in his wonderful scent, then you managed to rip yourself away from him. “Alright. Some nice food, I’ll take it?”
“You take it right.” You straightened yourself out just in time to see Yamato’s features twitch just the tiniest bit, then slacken. You knew that strangely blank expression by now and knew what it meant. He tried to hide something; something which would have otherwise made him react in some kind of way.
Yamato straightened himself out alongside you, lifting the two plates from the tray and placing one in front of you, the other on the table in front of him. “Today, we have some new recipes we wanted to try out. Here we have,” he pointed at your plate, “a plate of Spaghetti Carbonara. A local farmer provides the small bits of meat in there, the rest is unfortunately not as locally sourced as I would like to. Still working on that.”
“And it still looks delicious.” The smell made your mouth water, but you controlled yourself. “And the other one?”
Yamato hummed weakly. “Something a bit more sweet. Arme Ritter… is basically just french toast from German, but with less sugar and more options to customize it. Savory or sweet or just plain ones.”
“And you went with the savory option, I see.” Small cherry tomatoes were peppered around the three slices of baked toast, with dots of mozzarella cheese slowly melting on top of the neatly arranged slices. You leaned forward to inspect the toast, which had a wonderful golden sheen to its surface. “Is there some…”
“Ham? Yeah, but I hid it a bit beneath the toast.” With a fork, he quickly lifted the top slice, showing off some slices of grilled ham. “Has the additional plus of keeping the meat hot for a bit longer.”
“Really clever.” Following a sudden urge, you kissed his cheek. It was always a delight to see him surprised by some show of affection. This moment was no different. A sheen of red crawled up his neck and he cleared his throat, all the while avoiding your eyes and your cheeky smile.
When you sat back to try and decide on a meal, your eyes fell back onto the empty tray. Well, it was supposed to be empty, but right in the middle was a small, black box. Just the size of a golf ball, and just the size of a…
Your heart shot up into your throat. Oh no. Please, no. It would be incredibly sweet, but way, way, way too early. You would need to turn Yamato down if he really wanted to propose, but you could also very easily imagine married life with Yamato, which honestly probably wouldn’t differ too much from your current life…
He acted like he only now spotted the box. Way too casually, he leaned back into the back rest, the voice just as casual and tense as his body language. “Oh, that. Yeah… That was something I wanted to talk to you about.”
“Something to… Yamato .”
“(Y/N).” His knee pressed for a moment a little stronger into your leg. “I really think it’s the right time. We’ve known each other for way longer than only six months, after all.”
“I couldn’t possibly…”
“Oh, and Kairi loves you. She wouldn’t mind, I believe.”
“Well, I sure hope so.” A laughter crawled over your lips, ever so slightly hysterical. “Don’t get me wrong, but she has only little say in this matter.”
“Oh, some say.” He hummed, only to learn forward. His hand reached across the table, fingers closing around the small box. For just a moment, he twiddled with the box, so comically small in his hands you wanted to laugh once more, but no sound fell from your mouth. “I… I certainly think it would be the right next step, you know?”
“To marry?” A squeak swung in your voice, all high and way too loud. “Is that it? And you don’t think that’s a tad bit too early?”
Yamato’s face fell, from excited and nervous to absolutely gobsmacked. “Marry…? But…” One look down at the small box in his hands, and all color drained from his face. Apparently, he finally understood where you got the idea of marriage from. “Oh! No, no! Gods, no! Not… This is not… Oh my.”
“What is it, then? If not what I think it could be?”
“It’s just-! I swear, it’s just a key to my flat!” He nearly shouted the last word out, with all the panic and anxiety of a person fearing to be misunderstood. “I wanted you to have it, with some space in my wardrobe!”
Wait… What?
You froze in your place. Mouth hanging open and totally shocked. Your heart was still beating way too strong and hard, every thumb echoing in your ears like thunder. You swallowed, only to point at the small box. “It’s… it’s a key? To your flat?”
A helpless smile flashed over Yamato’s face. “I mean… yeah. It’s… I wanted you to be able to come and go freely. I know, it’s a bit early, but I honestly feel… secure enough to already give you this.” His hand with the box flinched weakly.
Thank fuck. Not a proposal, nothing like that. Calm down again, will you?
A key though… You could definitely live with a key. A key to Yamato’s flat was another step into the right direction, one you definitely were willing to take. Indeed…
Yamato was still watching your every move. So, you stretched out a hand yourself, reaching over to the small box. Your eyes met just like your fingers did, and the touch lingered.
“It’s just…” His shy smile was still able to melt your heart. “I really think we’re ready.”
Seriously, how could one man be this cute? And he was yours. Today wasn’t a good day for your heart, as the palpitations following his little smile surely would show up on an EKG. For a few long moments, you could simply sit and stare at him, so completely in awe you forgot what you were about to say, but then you woke up from your shell shock.
“Right… Oh, Yamato. We are really two peas in the same pod, in a sense.”
His forehead wrinkled. “How so?”
But you were already busy looking up something on your phone. Your thumb trembled a bit as you scrolled through your private mails, until you finally found the one you hunted for. Quickly and with your hands still faintly trembling, you handed Yamato the phone. Now that he made the step first, it was way easier to show him what you had worked on.
Yamato accepted the phone, now confusion clearly visible on his features. “What is this?” His eyes were already scanning the content of the mail. “This is… an order for a custom keychain.”
“In the form of a… aw, a cat?”
“Yeah. I sent the girl a picture of Kairi, and she promised she could make it happen. It’s for your keys to my place.”
“My keys?” he echoed.
You nodded, while a little smile tugged at your lips. “Yeah. I have three sets of house keys, so I didn’t need to make one, but I wanted to… make it special. So… A keychain.”
“A wonderful keychain.” His smile mirrored your own. Just as confused, just as deliriously happy, just a tad bit insecure. Just like you felt. But it was a big step for the two of you, but one you were both willing to take. For each other.
“Yeah, a wonderful cat keychain for the cat lover who is also my boyfriend. Plus a set of my house keys, of course.”  You shrugged like it was no big deal. But it was, you knew it and he knew it as well.
“I love you,” Yamato murmured. Still smiling, he clutched your phone in his hand, only to bite his lower lip and shake his head. “Fuck, I love you so much.”
New laughter bubbled in your chest. There were no words to describe how you felt, and there were none necessary. Still with the small box with the key to his flat in your hands, you went in for a hug. The position was weird, you had to turn your entire body into him which hurt your spine a little, and you couldn’t really enjoy the usual warmth of his hugs, but it was just perfect. “I love you, too. So, so much”, you whispered into the ear closest to you, and you felt how his hug tightened the tiniest bit in response.
Closing your eyes, you let yourself fall. So many months before, you never would have believed that something like this would happen to you, out of all people. But here you were, as happy as one could be. Only time would tell how the relationship with Yamato would go, but you had the distinct feeling that it would last for a long, long time.
Possibly even for the rest of your life.
~Lost~ Chapter 4: Hospitality
Pairing: Kakashi x Reader x Iruka
Forgot to post this here. Enjoy!
Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finally, you thought as you left the intel division's tent together with Kakashi. I just want to take a shower and go to bed...wait-
"Kakashi, I still don't have a place to sleep, and it's dark already." And I don't think that they have any Inns here at the moment. Back to camping it is , I guess.
Kakashi smirked. "Is that so?"
His reaction peaked your interest. "Sounds like you already have a plan", you said, tilting your head to one side.
"Well, kind of. Since I got the mission to always keep an eye on you, I think it will be for the best if you stay at my place for now. The first hokage also established the rule that you must give shelter to travellers who can't find a place to sleep, so that the leaf will always be remembered as a hospitable place. So you see, I actually have no other choice but to take you home with me." He looked at you, waiting for your reaction, but you were lost in your thoughts once again.
"...hospitable, huh? That wouldn't exactly be the word I would use to describe Konoha after what I experienced in the last few hours." Kakashi's face went serious. Oh god, that probably came across rude. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that, it's just-"
"No you're right, and I sincerely apologize for that." he interrupted you. "Konoha is extremely vulnerable right now, so everyone is tense and cautious when it comes to strangers. The council had its reasons to choose Lord Danzo as the Hokage at a time like this, he has always been strict when it comes to the safety of the village. And I'm going to start to make up for your inconveniences by carrying your backpack."
Usually you would not let anybody else carry your stuff for you, but you were so exhausted at this point that you just let out a small sigh of relief. "Thanks, I really apprechiate it." He picked up your backpack and put it on.
"Wow, this is heavier than I thought. You sure are stronger than you look, (Y/N)", he said with a smile. This could have been easily taken as an insult, but you decided to focus on the compliment. A grin formed on your face. "Thanks, I love being underestimated."
As you two started to walk to Kakashi's cottage, you remembered what he said about the Hokage earlier.
"I can see where Danzo is coming from, but there's still just something...disconcerting about him. And don't even try to tell me that you like him, I could feel the tension between you two right as I entered his office. And not the good kind of tension, you know."
He smiled bitterly. "...you're right. I assume he sees me as a competitor, because I was almost chosen to be the sixth Hokage instead of him. He's gotten a little paranoid that me and my team would conspire against him." That explains everything.
So I guess he chose you instead of one of his ANBU guys to watch over me to keep you occupied, right? Also I would definitely prefer you as the Hokage", you said with a smile.
"You're very sharp. But the position of the Hokage is not something I really want to take on. Although it might not be avoidable at some point in the future." He pointed to the left.
"We're here." You first looked at the cottage and then back at Kakashi with a raised eyebrow.
"How come your house is way nicer than all the ones I've seen here so far?", you asked teasingly.
"Hmm, I didn't even notice that it's nicer than the other houses." Sure. "But I guess that Tenzo wanted to do me a favor with this cottage. He's an old friend of mine and also the only one who can use wood style jutsu to build shelters."He must be the exhausted looking man from earlier.
You entered the house and took a look around. Kakashi stepped beside you and put a hand on his neck, laughing nervously.
"Sorry for the mess." The "mess" he was talking about consisted of some dirty dishes in the sink and a few clothes on the floor. For a man who was clearly living alone, you were positively surprised.
"It's fine Kakashi, I've seen much worse, believe me. I actually really like it, guess I have to thank Tenzo for making it this comfy when I meet him someday." Kakashi furrowed his brow for a moment but then quickly changed his expression to the now familiar eye-smile and nodded.
"I bet you're pretty tired now, (Y/N). Let me just take a pillow out of my bedroom, then it's all yours. I'll sleep on the couch."
He made his way to the bedroom, but you put a hand on his shoulder and held him back.
"In no way are you letting me sleep in your bed while you take the couch. You've saved my life, led me savely to your village, defended me against the guards and the Hokage, took on a mission to watch over me in the future and even let me stay at your place and I already don't know how to properly thank you for all that. I think that's more than enough for one day."
KAKASHI'S POV
I turned around to face her and noticed that we were standing closer than it was appropriate for two people who basically just met.
There was that captivating smile again. I opened my mouth, but no words came out. What should I say anyways? I took you back to the village because you're mysterious and I want to learn more about you? The way you speak with a strange but cute accent, the way you are polite and friendly but also can stand up for yourself is so fascinating to me that I don't mind spending more time with you? I can't say that, that would make things awkward. Pull yourself together, you never had problems speaking with women before, why is this so different?
"No big deal, I just did it because you're potential help for the village, nothing more." Wrong. Answer.
She tried her best to hide a frown and took a step back. "Oh, yeah I totally understand. I'm just going to take a shower if that's okay and go straight to sleep afterwards."
I couldn't help but look away. "Yeah, of course that's fine. Um, good night then." Walking towards my bedroom, I could hear her voice that was not much louder than a whisper.
"Good night to you too, Kakashi."
"Way to go on not making things awkward, Hatake" was my last thought before falling asleep that night.

The night of the release party is just getting started, but some revelations can't wait until the end of the night.
~ X ~
Hey there! So, so sorry that it took me so long to get this chapter out. Lots of stuff happened - I moved and needed to get my entire household in order - and I had lots of stuff to organize (sigh... adulting). I try to wrap this fic up in two more chapters as well, with one being an epilogue ^^ I think the two of them deserve their happy ending already, and I'm more than ready to write it for them.
Thank you all for your patience and your lovely comments! Again, so sorry for the delay and I try to get my shit together from here on out. I can't promise anything, though.
~ X ~
The night was as pleasant as an Autumn night could be. The night sky was free from any stars, the air fresh and definitely a bit colder than you anticipated, but that was alright. You wouldn’t spend much time outside anyway. You closed your eyes for a second, enjoying the night breeze as you stood right outside the door of your apartment complex. The small purse you used to contain all of your essentials was clutched in your hands, right up to the moment you heard Yamato step outside as well.
Your eyes fluttered open, and with a fluttering heart as well as a bright smile, you turned to him. At the sight of him, so unfamiliar yet well known, in his fancy suit, your heart jumped into your throat and you were so close to sigh dreamily out loud when he offered the crook of his arm to you with an old-fashioned gesture. It was a no-brainer to accept. With your hand slipping into the crook of his arm, you matched your steps with Yamato’s as he started to walk down the street.
“Aaah, couldn’t find a spot close by”, you grinned when he led you away from the street adherent to your building complex, down to the next street, where you already saw the roof of Yamato’s car when you turned the corner, “Sorry for that. I should have cleared mine so you could have parked nearby.”
“It’s no problem.” Car keys jangled and the lights of his car went off. “That way, I could walk a few steps.”
“Didn’t you already walk enough today? You know, when you’re working in a café?”
“I meant… Uhm… I meant I could get some fresh air?”
“Why does that sound like a question to me?”
“I don’t know.” Yamato sighed out. “I just… I don’t know. I think I’m nervous.”
While your banter carried on, you closed the distance to the car. Before you knew it, Yamato stepped forward and opened the door for you, complete with a flourishing gesture and a little mocking bow of his head.
“Nervous?” Snorting, you slipped into the seat, not forgetting to smile up to him in appreciation for his gesture. “You don’t seem like it.”
“Lots and lots of practice over the years.” With that said and checking if none of your dress would be caught, Yamato shut the door. The brief moment in which he walked around the car to reach his own seat, you hastily readjusted some strands falling out of your hair-do and cooled some of your suspiciously warm face with the palm of your hands.
Your hands quickly fell back into your lap as Yamato opened the other door and slid into the driver’s seat. “Alright,” he grunted as he adjusted his seat, “so, where is this elusive party exactly? Somewhere fancy, I hope.”
“Aaah, not exactly.” Rolling your eyes, you placed your cellphone with the address typed in into the holder glued to his front window. “See, Senju Publishing and Uchiha Press are still pissy at each other for the past grievances, so they had to settle with something less glamorous.”
“So… where are we going?”
“The Konoha Theater of Fire.”
Yamato sucked in a breath of air. “Ouch. Not what I expected for my first hot book release party between two hotshot publishing houses.”
“Believe me, it’s really as bad as it sounds.” Laughing, you shook your head. “The place was selected because none of the two houses ever hosted a release party there. I swear, they all act like little children.”
“And Kakashi?” Yamato started the car and pulled out of the spot. “Was he alright with that… downgrade?”
“To be honest, I think he’s so nervous he didn’t even realize that the theater is a downgrade. He’s just happy I’m not nagging him anymore about finishing up his book. Little does he know.”
“What?” Yamato sounded honestly concerned for his friend. Just the right edge of worry to make you want to tell him.
“No worries there. Tsunade wants to offer him a complete three-book-deal. With me,” you pointed with your thumb at yourself, “as his permanent commissioning editor. So, there will be lots and lots of nagging him in the future.”
At first, he didn’t say anything. Yamato was too busy taking the turn down left, which gave you time to admire the way his sleeve rode up his wrist, just an inch. But oh, what a delicious inch of skin. But just as fast as the moment appeared, it faded away and his little chuckle rising inside the car was maybe the sweetest thing you ever heard.
“Oh man, he will complain non-stop to me. And freeload off of me.”
“You’re way too good to him.”
“What can I say?” Yamato shrugged weakly, a smile splayed across his mouth. “He did a lot for me. It’s just fair that he gets some coffee and sandwiches from me in return. That doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy some of his misery.”
Definitely a healthy approach to the entire relationship. Chuckling, you turned your head to look outside of the window. The nightlife of Konoha was on the rise, with the darkness being cut away by the streetlights. Lots of people were on the streets, walking and talking and laughing. You leaned your head against the cool glass, only to jerk away just a split second later. Right, you actually had some make-up on. No use to relax if part of the make-up would be stuck to Yamato’s car window.
“Something the matter?” he asked.
You shrugged. “Not much. I’m just… Seems unreal what happened.” A thought which had been constantly living in the back of your head for a few weeks, but not one you voiced out loud. Until now.
“How so?”
“I mean, you have to admit that all of this was pretty… crazy.” Gesturing between the two of you, you continued. “Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate it. Immensely so. But I have to ask again. Why did you offer to help me in that way back then?”
Yamato’s laughter rumbled through his chest. “I have a deja-vu. But yeah, it seems a bit crazy.”
“It’s just… If you really think about it. The entire thing, it’s just…” A helpless laugh of your own rose in your throat. “Like it’s straight out of a movie. I can’t even believe that this here right now is happening. That… that we’re here, on the way to a release party, that you’re here with little old me-!”
“It’s not just little old you,” Yamato gently interrupted, “it’s you. I’m here with you.”
“But I’m just-!”
“Not just. You’re you, and that is already more than I can handle. Sometimes,” even though his eyes were firmly set on the road, you just knew by the slight strain in his voice that he was blushing, “sometimes I think like that too… That you’re still here with just me. When you could clearly do so much better.”
You couldn’t believe it. Did Yamato really see you like that? Did he really think that lowly of himself? How could he not see that he was incredible?
Instead of spouting all of the truths about him out at once, you slowly nodded. “I see.”
But he wasn’t done, and as his voice filled the car, you felt how your face grew hotter and hotter with every finished sentence. “I think we’re both used to being the one pouring more into a bond than the other. It needs some time for us both to feel comfortable around each other in that regard. Maybe that is why it feels a bit like a movie, because we both never expected to ever feel this way.”
“So… you also feel like that.”
“Yeah.” The admission came out easy. It seemed like he wanted to say more, but the voice of the navigation system chimed in, reminding the man to take a turn to the left, and Yamato followed the direction. Only when the speed of the car picked up again, he spoke up once more. “And while we’re at it and before I lose my nerves… One reason I didn’t tell you until now why I helped you back then, is that I found you intensely, enormously, absolutely stunning. From the very second I saw you.”
“Even with my face blotchy and swollen from all the crying?”
“Even then. But no, even before that.”
Before. You hadn’t seen Yamato. Or you had seen him inside the club and just didn’t notice.
“You sat at the bar,” he added, “and you talked with Sasuke. You tried to genuinely joke with him, not for yourself and your own enjoyment, but to make him feel better. And gave him a good tip. Lots of people do that, of course. But you were probably one of the few who treated him like a decent human being, not like a piece of meat.”
“I mean, he’s basically a child? And how should I treat him then, if not like another human being?”
“You would be surprised how many people lose some of their inhibitions if they’re faced with a pretty guy, have a drink in front of them and the darkness of a club hides their features. The point is, you treated him nicely, which isn’t that common as it should be.” Yamato shrugged. “Let that be stated by someone who works in the service industry and has served hundreds and thousands of people.”
Like he wasn’t even aware of his own gesture, the hand not glued to the steering wheel slid over. Automatically, your own hand opened as his fingers slid into the spaces between yours, all rough and a bit scarred but yet so safe and warm your smile brightened in an instant at the touch.
Fuck, if holding hands with him already lightened up the night sky, what would a kiss do to you?
The rest of the car ride passed by silently. Only your hands stayed entangled for the entirety of it, never letting go and fingers sliding back and forth in weak, gentle motions. Motions which made your heart bloom and forced it up into your throat, choking you with all the emotions running through you. Only when Yamato pulled into a parking spot close to the Konoha Theater of Fire, he had to let go to shift the stick into Backwards and Park.
Apparently, you made some kind of sound you weren’t aware of. Yamato’s head turned towards you, a smile already crinkling the corners of his eyes.
“Something the matter?”
Glaring at him, you shook your head.
Another chuckle from him, and he opened his door to climb out of the car. “I’m back in a second. Don’t go.”
“I wouldn’t,” you mumbled, all alone in the safety of the car as Yamato walked around the back, “I would never run. Not from you.”
As the door swung open and you slid out of your seat, Yamato offered you his hand like it was self-evident he should do that. When you took the offered hand and his fingers closed around yours, you could feel your heart beat so loudly in your chest that it nearly threatened to burst through your ribcage. How one man alone could elicit such a reaction from you was simply incredible, but also an experience you didn’t want to miss.
Without a word needed, he started to lead you towards the entrance of the theater. Again, he parked a bit further away, and you couldn’t help but to see a pattern. Maybe he had another reason to go for the longer route of walking instead of choosing the closest parking spot possible.
As the lights of the entrance neared, another question rose in your mind, too important to just ignore. “And while we are being honest, how do you feel about tonight?”
“Huh?” Like a deer in the headlights, Yamato stopped. His shoulders drew upwards, just the tiniest bit, and his dark eyes fluttered to you like the mere question puzzled him.
But you simply smiled at the man. Then, when he still looked at you like you just fell out of the sky, you started to tug at his hand, trying to gently pull him into the earlier direction. “Well, I feel really good. It’s just… I’m here with someone I like a lot and celebrate a success at my workplace. This evening,” your fingers squeezed his, “is pretty much the best I had in a long while. Now, my question: How do you feel about tonight?”
You didn’t want to get your hopes up. Even before the entire ordeal, you never wanted to get your hopes up in that regard, but when Yamato paused once more to really think about his words, your heart paused as well.
“This evening,” he started, “today… today already started… Let me rephrase this.”
“Take your time. You have the entire evening for that.”
“But only a few moments of privacy, before we go in. And I want to answer your question. Honestly, I want to. There’s just… My tongue is all tied up, it seems.” The two of you stopped once more. The entrance to the theater was a little bit further away, street lamps illuminating the way, but where you stood with Yamato, the light didn’t quite reach you yet. Merciful darkness wrapped around you like a blanket, comforting and emboldening you with confidence. Plus, Yamato’s hand was still laying in yours. His fingers trembled the tiniest bit as he tried to find words which fit his current state.
His voice was silent, just barely loud enough to be heard over the sound of the voices nearby and the occasional car passing by. “I believe… I feel like my heart will burst out of my chest at any given minute. When you asked me to accompany you tonight, I was… really happy.” A helpless smile flashed through the dim light, just a quick peek of his teeth. “And when you opened the door earlier, I thought I died for a moment. You’re… you’re looking beautiful.”
Oh my. Not like this. Stepping closer, right until you were so near you were able to smell his cologne with every breath you took —spices and mint, combined in a truly addicting scent— you opened your mouth to explain. “I didn’t want to fish for compliments or anything. I just wanted to know if you were comfortable. With tonight. With this. With… us.” Your fingers around his hand twitched. “Because the last thing I want to do is make you uncomfortable.”
“Same for me. Just the other way around.”
Both of you chuckled a bit at that. Then, just when the last bits of your own chuckle died down, Yamato cleared his throat. Your eyes locked, and for a perfect moment, you thought it would happen. It, that one thing you subconsciously dreamed about for such a long time now that it felt like an eternity.
But then, the moment was already gone, and his voice filled your ears in that special, hushed tone of his which made warmth bloom in your chest. “Don’t worry about fishing for compliments. You deserve each and every one of them. Tonight is your night and I’m glad to be able to be by your side.”
The smile following his clear and yet heartfelt statement was everything you ever needed. Unable to answer, you merely nodded. Nodded and broke eye contact, only to start walking again. Into the light of the next street lamp, pulling the man with you, all the while the warmth in your chest spread more and more into your other limbs.
His smile and overall cuteness melts my insides now. Great.
But you couldn’t really bring yourself to care much. Because you had the distinct feeling that Yamato felt the same.
His longer legs quickly adapted to your quick steps. Together, hand in hand, you walked towards the entrance. More people lingered ahead, lots of smokers standing around in small groups and talking among themselves. You were way too absorbed in the feeling of Yamato’s hand in yours to notice the people around you, but when the man beside you breathed harshly in, only to pull you gently to a stop, your little bubble popped.
“Kakashi?” Yamato asked, and that dropped the rose-tinted glasses hard enough to enter reality once more. “I thought you quit smoking?”
The other man obviously didn’t want to be seen. Strangely enough, when usually, Kakashi didn’t bother at all with hiding. He quickly dropped the cigarette and stepped on the stump, his motions all jerky and a bit uncoordinated.
“Maah,” he groaned and pulled the surgical mask back over his lower face, “Yamato. (Y/N). You’re already here.”
“Yes? Of course.” Squinting your eyes, you measured the man up and down. “Wait, why are you out here? Shouldn’t you be inside and shake hands with all the important people already?”
“Anko threw me out. I pissed her off by running around and asking dumb questions.” Just a few steps and Kakashi stepped into the light of the nearby street lamp. His loose tux looked good on him, the black shoes polished and shining in the dim light, the mop of silverish gray hair styled in a way which looked not styled at all. People would love Kakashi for his easy charisma and lax attitude, and anyone with a sex drive would love him even more than that. But —and you worked long enough with Kakashi by now— there was anxiety clearly standing in his eyes.
He was nervous. One look up to the crowded entrance area behind glass doors, showing off part of the atrium and many more people talking with each other, and a look back at Kakashi, and you understood. With a little sigh falling inaudibly from your lips, you let go of Yamato’s hand and turned towards your nervous author.
“Hey, we talked about this,” you took a tiny step closer to Kakashi, who looked at you like a sad puppy, “you will go in there, charm everyone around and read a little excerpt. Right?”
“...Right.”
“You don’t sound so convinced.”
“I am not.”
You dealt with your fair share of nervous authors in your work life, and Kakashi certainly wouldn’t be the last. Though, he was up until now the most important, so you had to get him back into the theater and talk and shake hands and most importantly, smile at all the publishing executives and the guests which would rip the book he wrote out of his pretty hands.
Calming Kakashi down was your most pressing task right now. With a quick apologetic smile in Yamato’s direction and a heavy heart, you turned towards the nervous Kakashi once more. “Okay, let’s calm down a bit first, alright? You need to breathe. And not some of that smoke, but some really fresh air. Let’s walk over to that spot for a minute, it seems to be a bit calmer over there.”
Fuck, what if Yamato was miffed you couldn’t give him your whole attention? Your heart lurched, only to sink faster than a stone in a calm lake. What if he didn’t like that you were busy with Kakashi? What if he didn’t like to be cast aside for your job and its responsibilities?
As you led Kakashi into a darker corner, away from the other smokers, Yamato followed. One look was exchanged, and the dark clouds over your mind disappeared. He understood, supported you even, just as much as he worried about Kakashi himself. You saw it in the way he patted Kakashi’s back, how he took the other side of the man, how he brushed the other’s suit jacket off to get rid of some non-existent dirt.
“Come on,” he reaffirmed to his friend, “Where is the senpai who can sweet talk me into feeding him for years without ever seeing any money from you, huh? You’re still owing me at least 500 bucks.”
“Might be able to pay you back…”
“Next week, yeah. That’s what you said last time too.” Yamato didn’t mean one word, just smiled and continued to fix Kakashi’s suit jacket. Without asking, he reached over to straighten out the loose hem of the white dress shirt and Kakashi let him, sighing and shaking his head like a broken puppet.
“Maah, you mother hen. Can’t even let me stew in my anxiety in peace.”
“Last time you smoked, you were close to throw away your academic career without a back-up plan or even an idea where you would get money to continue paying your rent on that little shithole of an apartment.”
“Hey,” Kakashi rolled his eyes in faux annoyance, “that was just the gas leak in my shit hole flat  making me do this.”
“You’re so lucky you didn’t get blown up.”
“You call it luck, I call it destiny.”
“Seems like I’m not needed here”, you threw in with a laugh, before another round of teasing between the two of them could start. And to Kakashi, you said: “There’s nothing to be afraid of. All those people are interested in you and your book, your ideas and the future plans you have, if you’re interested. They all are already invested in you. They want to get to know the brain behind the writing and see what you’re capable of.”
“But what if…?”
“Yeah?”
“What if I’m not good enough?” The admission came so silently you doubted for a moment that you heard correctly, but then you met Yamato’s widened eyes and understood that, yes, this really happened.
Oh. Oh . So, that was what he was talking about when he spoke about Kakashi’s insecurities so long ago. Now, with all the social pressure of the release party coming up, it finally showed. This Kakashi was someone who could definitely understand. A human with worries and weaknesses, instead of the teasing asshole he could sometimes be.
You had to be careful here. This was a crucial moment for him as an author and for you as his editor. If you fucked this up, the relationship you built with him over the last months would be wasted. Worst case scenario would be that Kakashi had to start over with another agent, someone who wasn’t as familiar with his antics and his work.
Absolutely no pressure.
“Kakashi. Look at me.”
His dark eyes were downcasted, but he reacted to your words. Answering his look, you took one of his hands into yours, hopefully being able to convey what you wanted to. “I believe in you, Kakashi. And in your work. Otherwise I wouldn’t be here today. Your writing is incredible. It shows so much, paints wonderful pictures for the reader and lets them escape from reality for the time being. It’s a great talent to have. And I want the people to see what I can see.”
“Really?”
“Yes,” you squeezed his hand, “because what I see is a creative, passionate and caring mind who wants to share what he has to offer with others. And if that isn’t most admirable, then I don’t know what is.”
For a few moments, there was only the silence reigning between the three of you. Even Yamato seemed to hold his breath, waiting for his friend to answer. Eternities seemed to pass by, just until Kakashi nodded. A tiny, pitiful nod, but it was there. Relief washed over your mind in an instant. Situation cleared up.
A last reassurance in the form of a squeeze of your hand, then you let go. You could see Kakashi’s hidden smile in the wrinkled corners of his eyes as he straightened up, tugged his suit jacket back into position and let his neck crack the tiniest bit.
“Alright. Yeah, that’s… right. Thanks.”
You smiled back at him. “No problem at all.”
“Mhm…” A certain uneasy feeling clenched your stomach as Kakashi’s dark eyes roamed over you, then Yamato, only to jump back to you with a look you already had seen one too many times. “I’m almost tempted to ask you to accompany me tonight for more moral support, but seeing you’re here with my cute little kouhai…”
Instinctively, you stepped closer to Yamato. “Sorry Kakashi, but I wouldn’t ditch him for anyone else in the world. Better luck next time.”
His little snort and the appreciative glance weren’t missed by you. Again, you pressed yourself closer to Yamato and he offered his hand without even looking at you. Your hand slipped into his palm like it belonged there, and Kakashi also didn’t miss that little gesture. The wrinkles around his eyes deepened and that was enough for you.
“So,” with the traitorous warmth rising up into your face, you turned towards the entrance of the theater, “we probably should get going. It’s nearly time for the presentation. Really, you’re making me late, Kakashi.”
“All according to plan.”
“Really?”
“Maah,” Kakashi shrugged as Yamato’s annoyed glare hit him and stuffed his hands into the pockets of his dress pants, “I’m joking, of course. My freakout wasn’t a deliberate plan at all. Really, Tenzo? You think so lowly of me?”
“Not at all.” Though, and you were pretty sure only you noticed, his shoulders relaxed and the man straightened his posture out. “I just believe that sometimes, you’re a bit overly eager to meddle with my private life.”
“To me it seems like I don’t have to do anything anymore, though.” With that and without a trace of the earlier anxiety, Kakashi walked ahead, posture already as relaxed and slouched as usual. And yet, your perspective about him had changed once more. Behind his facades, he seemed to hide a lot of raw nerves and worries, so unlike his outer, nonchalant masks and layers. Something you hadn’t discovered over the last months, but were still happy to know now.
The two of you followed the man slowly, walking right towards the brightly lit entrance where people were waiting and talking. Again, your hand was safely secured in his, and with the little “hiccup” out of the way, the earlier contentment returned and spread into all of your limbs.
“Sorry,” Yamato leaned over to murmur into your ear, “for him. Sometimes the nerves get to him. His ego is usually too big to get so absorbed in it, but… yeah.”
“No worries. That’s my job. To take care of him when he’s feeling down. You have no idea how many late-night-calls I got because one of my authors freaked out.” There were no hard feelings, even though at that time, you weren’t all too happy about the disturbances. “In the end, I’m a moral support for all the writers I’m responsible for.”
A few more steps along the way passed by. The heels of your shoes clicked on the stoney path, intermingling with the voices of the other people. Kakashi was still ahead, but slowing down more and more before the entrance to greet the one or two lonely ladies waiting alongside the path.
“Does he ever have a girlfriend?” you asked Yamato. A question which always lived in the back of your brain, but one you also didn’t have the mind to ask until now. “I mean, he gets a lot of attention and always gets hit on, but he doesn’t really… go out?”
Yamato whistled lowly through his teeth. “Glad you missed his wild phase. Not one weekend could go by without him bringing home at least two different people.”
“Really? But that’s over.”
“Yeah, some time ago one of his other friends apparently struck gold in the girlfriend-department. And since then, I think Kakashi just doesn’t see the point of sleeping around wildly anymore?” He shrugged. “Don’t get me wrong, he’s still active, but toned it down a lot since then.”
“And there was never someone lasting a little bit longer than the others?”
“Nope. Always just one-night-stands. Nothing else.”
“Mhm.” Again, you looked at Kakashi’s back a few meters ahead. “It’s just… I mean, in his books… Sorry, but if a man can write such romantic scenes, then I’m definitely convinced that they believe in love. To hear that he isn’t that kind of guy… confuses me.”
Yamato’s heavy sigh let his fingers entangle tighter with yours. “I know, I know. I also think he wants to be in a relationship, but something is holding him back. He never told me if he doesn’t do long-term commitments or has other reasons. I just want him to be happy.”
And that sentiment was what made Yamato such a good friend. Not knowing how to answer, you merely let your shoulder bump into his arm and nothing else. You didn’t need to say or do more, as he understood and returned the touch just as tenderly as yours had been.
Entering the theater was easier than you anticipated. The people blocking the entrance let Kakashi pass through when they recognized him from the various posters with his counterfeit plastered across every available surface, and you could just follow in the wake he left behind. Inside, the noise levels rose significantly, voices reverberating in between the walls of the atrium. And for a short moment, you were able to just breathe. Breathe and take the situation in all its glory. The accumulation of your hard work over the last weeks, all pressed into the excited, interested, curious expressions of all the visitors around.
Yamato leaned down, whispering words into your hair. He was so close you could almost feel his words more against you than actually hear them. “Everything alright?”
“Couldn’t be better”, you whispered instantly back. And you were. Right here, right now, it felt so good to be in your own skin. And that was what changed significantly, you realized with crystal-clear clarity, your perspective of yourself. Nothing else but that. And all it took was a sad evening, followed by months of care, friendship and finding your own self-worth. Well, that and the caring and friendly man by your side.
