all of this buck expanding his social circle has been very buck focused and for good reason but eddie got jealous when buck called a dog (aka man's best friend) his new best friend. can we please spare a moment of silence to think about eddie diaz 800 miles away in a town full of ghosts back under his parents' thumb finding out buck is making new friends to fill the void eddie left behind. buck will say he's going out to a speed friending event that night and eddie will be like "oh man that's the only time i'n free for the next few days guess we won't be able to talk until friday then" and buck will cancel so fast that eddie gets a little hard. but that's unrelated.

beautifulest sandbox ever where eddie figures out how to put buck on a leash as easy as breathing and neither of them think about it literally at all like this is just how it is. and when they get together it's sort of thrown into sharp relief like now they're soooo intertwined and they realize, like, instinctively, that it's not that buck will just do whatever eddie asks but that he trusts that eddie will always, unconditionally, unselfishly try to lead buck to the best choice. the special thing is that when they are together buck operates according to what eddie would want, and what eddie wants is for him to be healthy and joyful and well-fucked, and he can make every decision knowing that eddie is his safety net, that eddie can and will tell him No if he has to and he will simply listen because. that's what they do. and above all it wouldn't work if buck didn't have more clarity about eddie's fallibility than anyone else in the entire world, so he fully expects eddie to get it wrong sometimes, but they love each other so they'll always figure it out, buck will make sure of that, and eddie is secure in this knowledge. buck takes the weight off of eddie's shoulders through his beautiful accidental service submission and eddie keeps buck grounded and steady through his commands and his teasing and his disciplining and they are also both really horny. this is true mutualism and they don't talk about any of it and eddie knows best and they are so happy and weird. in their tpe world

i'm like. absolutely certain. that one of the justifications in buck buckley's fucked up freakazoid psyche about why he can't possibly be in love with eddie in anyway that is decidedly not romantic is because he's convinced that part of him wants eddie to be his dad so badly. like he's watching eddie with chris, loving him so unconditionally and picking himself up off the floor to try again and again every time he falls down, and he's looking at chris going god i wish that were me. he's like dad id like to have ❌NOT❌ dad i'd like to fuck no sir!!! meanwhile eddie uses his dad voice on him and he's dangerously close to getting pavloved into a semi every time eddie talks to christopher.
