So! Dick was sitting at his favorite Cafe in his Civvies one day, when he overheard a Barista talking to his friends the next table over.

"So how are you liking Gotham so far?" The Goth looking friend asked.

"Actually I love it, its so much fun to see peoples reactions when I don't react to dangerous situations." Said the Barista, "Even getting mugged on the way home was entertaining. The guy was so disturbed by me being so Nonchalant during the whole thing, he forgot to take my wallet."

Then the friend in the yellow shirt spoke up, "You know I never really got 'nonchalant', why can't people ever just be 'chalant'?"

Dick almost dropped his coffee.

Conner has taken to flying around high above the world, just drifting where the winds take him. He uses this time to just live in the moment and take in the natural beauty of the world.

As he's floating, he hears the distinct sound of music and screaming fans. He slowly pays more attention to the music, a strong female voice is belting out lyrics to a song that resonates with him.

Pinpointing the location the sound is coming from to a small town a few clicks west of where he is. He immediately moves to watch and listen in person. He has to know who is playing and if all their songs are as good as this current one.

The concert is taking place in a park with a completely open area to stand and listen. The concert is packed with teens and young adults. A typical concert, in Conner's opinion. He decides to fly further to the back of the crowd to watch. Conner doesn't really pay attention to the crowd and is focused on the band and the singer. Completely missing several eyebrow-raising things.

"Hey, flying guy! You can't watch from there please move to the designated area for flyers," A man with gravity-defying white hair and piercing green eyes flying near him says while gesturing to an area more to the left of the stage, where several people were flying and enjoying the concert. Most are glowing faintly, and some of them, concernedly, are semi-transparent. "Or you can keep on moving."

"Ah, sorry I was flying around, then heard this music and had to see who it is… So, umm, who is playing? I really love what I've heard so far." The two of them move away from the crowd.

"She's Ember McClain, the best musician from the Realms. As long as you're not here to start anything, you're good."

"Why are you the security here?" Conner purposely tilted his sunglasses, looking him up and down. Thinking to himself that this scrawny twink can't pack that much of a punch.

"Yes, I am. Even before that comment, I could tell you aren't from here if you don't recognize me." the cute twink laughs a little, "I'm Phantom! Manager of this whole thing and security. Making sure Ember sticks to the rules and making sure everyone else is too. This time no one tries to mind-control anyone."

Concerning comments shelved for later. "It seems I'm also unknown if I have to introduce myself. But for a cutie like you, I'll give you anything." Wink, "I'm Superboy, call me Kon. Can I ask more about you? Like, if you have a number I can have?"

Phantom blushes "Danny…..I don't just give my information or number out to some rando. That is lesson one of being a hero. As I'm sure you "Superboy" know this."

"Okay then, tell me more about this band, and you can tell me more about yourself at dinner after."

Conner reappears at the Young Justice base several hours after he normally would, with several bags full of Ember merch. Signed copies of the albums, posters, shirts, and even a water bottle. He gives a shirt to every YJ member. His phone is full of selfies and videos from the concert and after, as well as the number of a very cute boy, with a date set for Friday night.

it could be anyone, tbh, but i like the idea of it being shauna and tai. i think they'd make a good team, and i love them as a duo ;p i don't know how well they'd do it, but i think that shauna’s strategic mind and taissa’s leadership qualities would complement each other.

tai could also be a cool ghostface if you think abt it as her 'bad' side being ghostface, without her even realizing it 🤔 now, since her 'bad' side would be in control of the attacks, i'm not sure if she'd have a motive per se. but if i had to come up with one, maybe it could be that her 'good' side craves power and control, maybe because she feels out of control in her own life, and her 'bad' side might act out to protect or satisfy the desires of her other half. kinda like what we see on the show. her targets could be ppl who challenge her authority or threaten her status.

out in the wilderness, shauna took on the role of the butcher, which right off the bat shows she can adapt and take on whatever roles are needed for survival. not only that, but it also proves that she's capable of killing people (adam) and skinning them (javi) if the situation demands it. now, teenage shauna is always wrestling with her identity and the pressures of her social life/circle, so i figure her motive could come from a deep-seated need to assert her individuality, maybe targeting those who undermine her or get in the way of her self-discovery. and by self-discovery, i mean she's trying to 'escape' the self-hatred and lack of self-esteem that always hold her back.

as for the others...

if lottie turned out to be ghostface, i guess her motive might come from wanting to make reality match up with her prophetic visions, perhaps targeting those she sees as threats to her spiritual journey or those who don't buy into her prophecies. or maybe she's trying to fulfill a destiny she thinks is preordained.

nat's got a lot of guilt weighing her down and she's been searching for a purpose in her life, not only during and after the crash, but since childhood. her ghostface motive might be about seeking forgiveness/redemption or some type of self-punishment.

for van, in the wilderness, she displayed a robust survival instinct, an open-minded and practical approach to enhance her survival chances—for instance, when she believed in lottie’s visions, or when killing javi. so, as ghostface, her motive could be all about making sure she survives, no matter the cost, maybe seeing ghostface as a means to an end.

i think we all know misty's got murder in her 😭, and her motive would probably stem from her neediness to be accepted or loved, craving attention and validation by stirring up chaos and then 'solving' it, maybe targeting those who ignore or belittle her.

jackie's too much of a princess to be ghostface, let's be real 🤣 but if she did end up being ghostface in some alternate reality, maybe her motive would be something like when her authority was challenged out in the wilderness and the social order she valued got messed up. she could target people who mess with her status quo.

some people are dodging the point so hard. like yes shaunas the "bad guy", shes the one who wants people dead (and maybe lottie too ig) but this story has always been about why its even possible for that to matter. shes literally just one person so why dont they all just refuse to participate? nat does, repeatedly, but no one stands with her so lottie and shauna get what they want. we saw that shauna literally backed down when tai stood up to her, she isnt some unstoppable force.

this is and has always been about passive violence. how being silent in the face of violence, not actively standing up and saying "No" is complicity. tai and van rigging the cards so it will be the "outsider" who gets hunted is complicity. it is commentary on how we allow "fringe" members of our communities to be cast out, othered, hunted, because we're too afraid for ourselves to stand in solidarity with them. but then in the end when the violence comes for you or your friend or your family theres no one left to stand with you because you abandoned those "others" who could have stood with you. shauna and lottie only have the power that the girls give them by being passively complicit in a similar way to how shauna was complicit in tai's plan for allie in the pilot. and so it goes again and again. they all ostracised jackie, watched javi drown, let shauna intimidate and lottie lead them to vote against ben. this show is literally inspired by twin peaks, a story in which an entire town is found to be complict in the murder of a girl they all snubbed every possible opportunity to save. the point is not that shauna is the villian but rather that she is only able to hurt people because the others have created an environment that indulges her worst impulses.

Seeing people be mad at Jeff for taking Callie and leaving Shauna is genuinely so confusing to me. I mean, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But to me, it is so clear, Jeff understands that Shauna is GENUINELY DANGEROUS for Callie to be around. She has KILLED and Jeff is only trying to protect his daughter from being arrested or worse by separating them both from Shauna. And let's try to be honest with ourselves here... OTHER than the whole murdering stuff, Shauna was NOT a good mother to Callie. It is so clear to me that Shauna is emotionally neglectful to Callie... maybe even worse. And like I said before, everyone is allowed to have their own opinion! Hate on Jeff all you want and love Shauna all you want. But this misunderstanding of Jeffs actions just kinda gets to me, and I wanted to talk about it since I love Callie so much.

Perhaps the wilderness in Yellowjackets is not just a symbol of death. Perhaps it is also—in its own way—freedom.

In the wilderness, Lottie didn’t have to hide her visions for fear of being called crazy. She was exalted as a leader and a prophet. But when she returned, they called her crazy and locked her up.

In the wilderness, Misty didn’t have to be ashamed of her intensity and eccentricity. She was helpful, she was needed, she was important. But when she returned, they called her a freak and exiled her once again.

In the wilderness, Tai didn’t have to pretend to be something she’s not. Her other self was not a weakness but a strength, it gave her power, and kept her alive. But when she returned she had to suppress her urges and hide her other self, or lose everything.

In the wilderness, Shauna didn’t have to be small, and hide the fire inside her. She was angry, and violent, and powerful. But when she returned, she was forced back into a supporting role, forced to contain her darkness and her drive in order to fit a role she never wanted to play.

In the wilderness, Travis didn’t have to put on an act to fit the societal expectations of masculinity. He was feminine, and emotional, and soft—not the man of the group, but just another Yellowjacket in the hive. But when he returned, he was forced back into the cage—back into the closet—isolated, hardened, closed off and separated from the girls once more.

In the wilderness, Natalie didn’t have to feel guilty for surviving. She was the hunter, the provider, and the gun in her hands made her a savior, and a leader, not a killer. But when she returned, she was a killer once again, haunted by guilt, and outcast by society for the things she did to stay alive.

The wilderness gave them the freedom to be their truest and most authentic selves, but the cost was the blood spilled. The cost was their old selves. The cost was a place in the world upon their return.

Maybe the wilderness did not destroy them; it simply changed them into something new, something irrevocably different, something that would never—could never—fit back inside the narrow box of their old lives, and because they could no longer fit, society called them broken.

The wilderness freed them, but it never let them go. Because once you’ve tasted flesh and blood, once you’ve stared death in the face and overcame, once you’ve been to the very brink and seen the true depth of your own capacity for violence, once all the former markers of morality and success have become meaningless, in a world where survival at all costs is the only law, how can you ever go back to a world ruled by pointless, hollow, conventions? Once you’ve shed every remnant of your humanity, once you’ve run with the wolves, and howled at the moon, and become one with the ancient wild gods, how can you ever be a human again? Once you’ve had a taste of complete freedom, how can you ever be satisfied with a fake, insignificant, half-life, made up entirely of half-truths and haunting?
