The abusive Bi-Han headcanon is definitely causing a lot of suffering for Bi-Han fans, especially since it always there in fanon even in the prior timeline and it's now booming thanks to mk1.

I never saw prior timeline Bi-Han as abusive, mainly because Kuai never mentions this and neither does Smoke. The most charitable interpretation of this that I've seen in stories is that Bi-Han is under some terribly misguided impression he is toughening up Kuai and that he is 'protecting him' and keeping him alive. Which is probably the only interpretation that makes even a hint of sense given I don't think a young Bi-Han would be kicking Kuai down the stairs for the lolz.

Even then, that's not exactly the ideal view of their relationship. I always saw Bi-Han as cold, even to his brother, thought this mainly because of Lin Kuei teachings fucking up his ability to express himself in a caring manner and not out of malice. I always imagined there's this small pocket of love Bi-Han had for Kuai in that cold heart of his but he doesn't show it outwardly because 'Love is a weakness,' nonsense the Grandmaster was probably slamming full force on the clan.

That’s the charm of fandom, either our fav characters are popular and widely liked, or hated even for things they haven’t officially done. And with lore so old like Mortal Kombat, the positive and negative personal headcanons and interpretations creep into perception of characters, their canon personalities and reasoning one way or another. That is unavoidable and the less official source material is provided, the more fans fill the gap in their own way. Sometimes that leads to perpetuating some unkind opinions which understandably is upsetting if the character, like Bi-Han, is accused of things not hinted at by the tie-in material in the first place (i.e. abusing Kuai Liang in the childhood).

However I feel like in Bi-Han’s case, the problem lies only halfway in limited details about his and Kuai Liang’s past and brotherhood before elder Sub-Zero was turned into Wraith and twisted by dark magic. For me, the negative perception is connected to his naturally cold, abrasive behavior. I suspect if Bi-Han was a more emotionally driven character, the way Hanzo is, many fans would be more likely to think he was just sadly misled by Lin Kuei pathological doctrines if not outright the tragic hero. Bi-Han however is not that emotional kind of person, he has never been. Forgive me the metaphor, but I feel that the fan treatment of Bi-Han is similar to how people, who have never had a cat, perceive those animals and how frustrated it must be when they expect cats to behave like dogs but won’t get the desired results. It is not that the elder Sub-Zero or cats are evil by nature, they just communicate and behave in a very specific way. If people mistake it for them being mean, uncaring, even for being unable to love only because they expected - demanded - a different set of behavior that would fit their narrowed idea of normalcy, then they are bound to be disappointed one way or another. But that is not fault of fictional characters (and definitely not cats’ either).

That said, I too think Kuai Liang always had a special place in Bi-Han’s life and was no less important than Bi-Han was for him, and that Lin Kuei upbringing complicated expressing those emotions, however I don’t see a point of getting worked over different opinions of strangers. Is it hard sometimes to be a fan of characters like the elder Sub-Zero that feel widely mistreated by fandom over things there is no evidence he did in canon? Sure, but each person is entitled to their own opinion. Fandom is like that sometimes and in my book, usually the best solution is sticking to things that make you happy and if needed, to ignore negative things outside of your control. I know it is not easy, but sometimes it is good to agree to disagree and move on to a comfortable niche of personal headcanons.

It works for me most of time - and if I feel enough spiteful toward fandom at large, I will just create my own Bi-Han positive fanwork to balance things out 😈

SO, I've taken the liberty of changing this up a bit. I've redesignated some of these letters because I think we've all seen the old ones so many times. Also, I think these changes could be more interesting for Billy in particular. Mind you not All of these are different, just some.

He doesn’t outright say “I love you”, but does so by telling you how much you mean to him with all of his favorite nicknames thrown in. “My star, you are my guiding light.” “My heart, you are my home.” “My light, you consume me.” Etc., etc.

J= Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they're jealous?)

He’s learned the Chains mannerisms well enough not to become jealous of them, but the second someone else even gives you a second look on the road, he’s gone into guard dog mode, laser locking eyes with them to scare them off. You’re his precious gem, not theirs.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

As I said before, his kisses are more often than not feather light, gentle as can be from the Fierce Deity. His favorite place to kiss you is on the top of your head, forehead, mainly because it’s easier for him to reach when standing. But if he’s kneeling down or has you in his arms? Planting that kiss on your lips!

He likes it when you kiss his scars and facial marks. He feels a certain tenderness well up in his heart when you don’t shy away from it.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

I’m of the headcanon that he would have had some dealings with raising Time when he was just a little kid trying to make his way back to Hyrule from Termina, so he’d at least have some experience with that and the children from the tree in Termina.

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

Early. He likes to see the sun rise, hear the birds and the bugs sing. It’s not often he gets to hear the sound, especially when he’s been locked away in the mask for so long. If you sit out there with him, just enjoying the moment, he’d greatly appreciate it and it’ll be a memory that sticks with him forever.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

Quietly, mostly, when he’s away from the mask. However you do notice he tends to look up at the sky often, thinking about an old story he’d tell you when he was finally ready.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

When it comes to the matters of himself and not his feelings for you, it’s a slow reveal as small parts of him begin to open up with time and trust in you to keep those secrets harbored safely with you. They tend to come out in the moments when he’s in places or situations that remind him of his past, the good and the bad.

P = Propose (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

Proposals made by Fierce Deity do not require a ring, it’s his undying loyalty and fealty to you, swearing his oath to be your undying protector and valiant lover.

Somewhere in the distance you can still hear Majora rolling their eyes from the grave.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

Every little detail that you give to him is like a yummy little morsel of knowledge that gets locked into the vault of “my heart facts”. You have to be careful with what you tell him you like, because if you say you like birds, you best be sure that he’s going to try and catch every bird he sees for you to show you.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

When you requited your love for him, every time you smile, the way you laugh. He’s down bad for the simplest of things because it warms his heart.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

He is your own personal guard dog and would protect you ‘till his dying breath. The ways he would like to be protected are less physical and more emotional. He needs to know he can trust you to keep his heart safe, no matter what.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

He puts more effort in everyday things and small gifts, like little trinkets and treasures he thinks you might like, than he does anniversaries or dates. To him, time is endless and ever changing, so remembering all the dates can get a bit lost unless you’ve specifically mentioned one that was important to you. Those he’s sure to remember.

U = Unique (What makes them unique as a partner?)

Physically? He’s stuck in a mask/in Time’s body (until otherwise specified). Literally? He’s a god. But I think the thing that truly sets him apart from others is his undying love and adoration he has for you, it’s like an endless ocean once you truly get a taste of it.

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

Not super concerned, but concerned enough that he wants to keep himself put together. He needs his armor for a reason, and now with protecting his love, he’s going to keep that stuff ready to go.

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

Yes. He didn’t truly know what he was missing out on until he saw what Time had with Malon. He was practically dying for it and would feel like he was dying if he’d lost you.

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

He can walk around as a person in a dark realm or if he puts enough focus into channeling his power into the mask. He can wield dark artifacts at will to transform or give him a moment of respite from being stuck within the mask.

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn't like, either in general or in a partner?)

He does not like being made fun of. He already has a hard enough time understanding others emotions, it hurts and angers him when he finds he’s the butt of the joke so to speak.

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habit of theirs?)

In the mask? Flat. Out of the mask? Flat on his back with an arm under his pillow, fingertips grazing the knife he keeps under it while the other is draped around you to keep you close.

Sasori: Words of affirmation above all (and intelligent conversation)! I mean, he dislikes attention in general, so it’s hard to imagine him liking much else 😂 If you can think of a gift he would like, he would very much appreciate that. Under specific circumstances, like AUs, Sasori would also love physical touch (canon 35 year old Sasori really has no interest in relationships in general). He would find acts of service demeaning- he can do it all himself, and in his mind, better. He likes quality time, but also disappears for days on end working on his corpse puppets or killing people to make them into corpse puppets 😍 You gotta be cool with that and tell him they’re awesome.

Deidara: Physical touch, words of affirmation, and quality time- he is literally a princess and requires constant attention 😂 There aren’t many services he would expect from you, he just wants you to tell him he’s amazing and rub his back for hours (maybe that’s the act of service lol). He also would love gifts, and definitely enjoys giving them! Very easy to please and validate!

Hidan: Words of affirmation and quality time! He is a dog! He loves physical touch too, but feels religious guilt for it 😂 His religion is founded on worshipping destruction, and I think love and sex are the opposite of that and frowned upon. Hidan wouldn’t appreciate a nice gift enough, so don’t waste your time (unless it’s a trip to the hot springs or pomade). He would appreciate an act of service like cooking meat for him, or converting, so he doesn’t have to kill you 👍

Kakuzu: Acts of service and, if he trusts you, physical touch (he is very deprived of real affection and would dislike it initially). Kakuzu would also appreciate the gift of a good book! He does not require a lot of attention to maintain his interest if you got him, and though quality time is nice, it isn’t something he values much (once a month lol). He values intellectual conversation more than actual affirmation. Note, a hookup with Kakuzu is easy, and I’m referring to vulnerable physical affection, like snuggling.

Itachi: Gifts, quality time, and lastly, physical touch- he will feel more comfortable receiving physical affection after you spend lots of time convincing him he deserves it. Words of affirmation must be used in small doses or he will reject them. He would like giving gifts more than receiving them, same with acts of service. He is emotionally sensitive and considerate, so he will mirror what you give him and more.

Kisame: Quality time and physical touch. Kisame is a good boyfriend who is generally content and if you’re just nice to him, he’ll be ecstatic. Like Itachi, he might need some small doses of words of affirmation before accepting them as truth. Expect lots of bear hugs and being carried around! The only gifts he cares about are good food, and time with you! He expects no acts of service, but would appreciate you caring for him- all of these people have had hard lives and are comfortable doing everything themselves.

Konan: Gifts and acts of service. Physical touch is earned with her. She is a queen, so she already has whatever she wants, so sentimental gifts are best (but she would love designer). Honestly, she would care more about acts of service you offer to others more than herself. She is attracted to people who display character. Quality time is also nice, but not the top. You have to be good in bed to date her, and she likes giving caring touch to her partners, as well as receiving it. Words of affirmation are appreciated, but don’t overdue it. She’s heard it all, and likes action more than talking.

Nagato: Words of affirmation and quality time. Nagato has a god complex, so just nod and agree with whatever he says, and he will feel so valued 😂 He will shower you with gifts, but won’t expect any in return. Like Sasori and Kakuzu, intelligent conversation is also the key to his heart. Nagato would also value acts of service towards his people. Acts of service involving himself would make him feel guilty. If we are going for sickly Nagato, he would struggle with physical touch at first, but accept it gladly after you gain his trust.

Obito: Words of affirmation, physical touch, acts of service . Also has a god complex, so just tell him whatever he wants to hear and treat him like a king. Before he went nuts, he was a golden retriever, so he probably loves head scratches and tenderness. A good gift might make him giddy as well. Quality time is not his top, cause he’s too busy trying to plan mass genocide, but of course you will have endless time together in the infinite tsukuyomi, so no worries! I’m throwing shade cause he would be a taker instead of a giver 🤪

Orochimaru: Gifts, of course! Weird taxidermy, expensive wine, statues of snakes for his lair, live snakes, stolen research, etc. You will be favored if you give lots of words of affirmation. He has no time for quality time, and you will always be sad and lonely while he experiments on children. He doesn’t feel like the type care much about physical touch, but acts of service are great!

Zetsu: Gifts (corpses of course!) Quality time feels like a favorite of theirs, they seem content to sit around and chill. Don’t be surprised if they kill you, they aren’t quite human anyway. Acts of service are also appreciated! Perhaps some gossip? Zetsu doesn’t seem like the type to value words of affirmation too much (especially Black Zetsu), and hcs for physical touch can go opposite directions.

mdzs x pokemon au thoughts

mostly focusing on yunmeng trio - or rather duo (jc and wwx)

So, focusing on bodies of water, magikarps could be found in lots of places. Especially in yunmeng.

There are also many disciples who likes hard and seemingly impossible challenges. Like training magikarps into gayardoses.

And yunmeng jiang sect can be proud of few disciples and clan members who successfully trained their magikarps into gayardoses. Also, at some point it became the question of not "who can achieve it", but "who can train the stronger gayardos from magikarp" or "who can train the stronger gayardos from magikarp faster" or "who can train the stronger gayardos from magikarp faster without the pokemon starting to hate you and running away somewhere" or "who can train the stronger gayardos from magikarp and be the youngest to do so".

That's why the two young rivals caught a magikarp for themselves to train. Achive the impossible and kick the ass of your sect brother etc.

JC's magikarp has some sick-ass name that would be truly suitable for a beast like a gayardos (but still it's something a ten year old (or younger?) would think of.

WWX thought of so. MANY. NAMES. but none of them was the ideal of his glorious magikarp-sooner-than-JC's-turned-to-be-gayardos. In the end it's name is some kind of fish-based dish that JY implied*, would make magikarp into if he starts abounding the poor pokemon now**.

(* she only asked nicely if he's still training it!) (** JC at least knows some lick of responsibility because he had dogs (dog-like pokemon?) before. But Jiang Fengmian's and Madam Yu's neglect towards (their) children is not the best example of taking care of others :/ And if YJ is going to make her brothers learn some responsibility by making them focus on their bet then it's no-ones business)

Anyways. Training magikarps it's surprisingly not so easy. Despite the hard training sessions both pokemon have not evolved before the boys had to go to Gusu for lectures. They still have not evolved when they came back, nor when the Indoctrination happened, nor when Lotus Pier was attacked - and what's worse they got separated from their trainers when the siblings trio were on the run, (why would you have your water-based pokemon in some kind of pokeball when you live nearby water???). And so, JC's and WWX's bet was never resolved....

...some time later, when the Sunshot Campaign was ongoing, there was plan to retake Lotus Pier. Well, plan always was to retake Lotus Pier, but now they had means and battle plans to do so.

Yet, by the time they arrived, instead of Wens roaming around they found Lotus Pier overtaken by pokemons with two gayardoses seemingly taking the role of main bosses there.

It was a beautiful moment of pokemons reuniting with their trainers, new jiang members being glad not to be considered food by the wild pokemon due being part of the jiang, non-jiang members taking few significant steps back to not get eaten, and everyone sans two having a moment of 'what the fuck did they call them' when (mostly)respectable people like Sandu Sengshou and (not-yet-called-that-then)Yilling Patriarch calling to two gayardoses name akin to "Terminator 3000" and "Chicken Nuggets"

They still don't know who's magikarp evolved first. Officially the bet ended with a tie. Practically Jin Ling's granchildren are aware the bet was never resolved.

Golden retriever cos its the opposite to her and kind of mellows her out a little. Or husky because with how active they are they would make an excellent running companion they’re stubborn but loyal and very intelligent (basically leigh if she was a dog) and german shepherd for similar reasons. But i just have a soft spot for these breeds huskies in particular so its just me 😂

Im so mad at danny knowing full well matt was married ik he has feelings for Leigh so i wonder if it was sabotage for selfish reasons or maybe he thought it was the right thing to do cos matt wasn’t happy or something either way he is gonna get his ass kicked by one of these two or possibly both

Once again you did a fantastic job (you always do) leigh is not easy ti capture she’s incredibly complex she’s not even that likeable on paper shes angry and bitter and snarky but i think thats why i like her so much shes so different to any other portrayal of grief especially for a woman ive ever seen and she has so many good qualities that okay maybe don’t come across as much as the bad but id love to see how you deal with these like her sarcasm and snark can be genuinely funny she obviously loves very fiercely and cares about people she’s stubborn and not afraid to speak her mind and the list goes on

i’m always hesitant to say this bc some ppl are super sensitive when it comes to cassian for some funny reason (all the other boys are able to be criticized but not him bc he can be funny?) but part of why i don’t like him as much as azriel is because of how he went for nesta too early on, it was super premature for him to come onto her so blatantly in front of everyone even when she was mortal and he’d literally just met her, knowing how feyre was treated etc…i adore cassian when i don’t look at his character too closely. as much as i prefer feyssian over feyzriel because of her and cassian having more sweet bestie moments than her and az do, whenever there’s a discussion i’ll always choose az first because of cassian and nesta. like anon said i can’t help but put myself in feyre’s shoes when i’m reading but i don’t like that he came onto nesta the way he did and how soon he did, and he had no shame about it in front of feyre and the rest.

i know some people are super chill or they have sisters or family members that cross these lines all the time, like your friend flirting with your sister, but in my family or friend groups we don’t do that especially if a sister is really mean to me, why would i approve of my friend going for her so blatantly in front of me? it’s not so much a harsh or possessive petty thing but just basic morale? cassian imo doesn’t get enough flack for how he came onto nesta so soon. it’s true too that at least az didn’t show any signs of having a crush until acowar and acofas, i prefer someone humbly and respectfully handling a crush on my sister than how in your face cassian was about it with nesta in only book two. idk sometimes it feels like his dick thinks for him and even acosf proved that.

i prefer acowar cassian! but i also skip the pages whenever he’s acting out over nesta or they’re both being angst ridden for one another, i just can’t take it seriously bc he was obv thinking with his dick or mating bond and she was still treating everyone like they were less than her despite her being a pos who has never done anything.

idk 😮‍💨 like i said it’s so easy to love cass as a character when you don’t look at his dynamic with nesta from feyre’s shoes in book two. i imagine mainly feyre stan’s struggle with him due to his attachment to nesta so early on. that bonus chapter anon mentioned where cassian put his body up against nesta’s asking whether she was a virgin or not? he’d only recently met her and was doing that, it being too soon aside, it was very inappropriate to do. even mor made it clear that he acts that way with women when they don’t want him and see’s it as “a challenge” just 10 reasons why az and rhysand will always come off as the most mature to me.

the other reasons i don’t favor him have to do with sjm having him refer to nesta as a queen in acosf, him always showing doubt with the ic’s decisions in acosf as if he’s not apart of the ic (why did he seem so against them in acosf at times? most of the time they were right too so it was just weird for sjm to do) saying nesta didn’t need to apologize to anyone supposedly (really sjm? 💀) having sex with nesta on a hike where she was supposed to own up to her wrongs and mature after she just told feyre she could die (inappropriate timing much..?) acting funny when rhysand felt the need to tell her to be nice to gwyn and emerie when he knows damn well rhysand isn’t at the house of wind like them to know nesta’s behavior had gotten better. how the hell would rhysand know that nesta’s not being mean to him when rhysand’s only ever seen her be rude af to everyone..? and then made it even worse when he petulantly wrapped his arm around nesta to make rhysand feel uncomfortable.

I never heard of bluetick dogs before I started watching Moishe grow up on your blog! May I ask what some of his breed-specific mannerisms are? Is he a kind of working dog that needs a bunch of jobs? Or more of a chilling out dog?

Honestly I only have personal experience with our weird neighbor's dogs. Because they keep fucking showing up at our farm 😂 but his have really nice temperaments. A couple of his older dogs turned up here like a year or two ago and just vibed around the place like goofuses. We closed them in our shed/pen area to keep them safe while we tries to contact the breeder and they were here for over 24 hours and just... chill. Very sweet. Very smelly. Very dog neutral and people friendly

In general the impression I get about coonhounds is they should be like that -- although I hear some lines or breeds can produce aggression problems, like a friend of mine with a redbone says she hears about aggression popping up sometimes with those but idk

They're pretty much only used by old school hunting guys who are pretty offline compared to a lot of other dog breed communities and who tend to have pretty different priorities as well. But I will say that the local blueticks have all been exuberant at times but easygoing, not hyper or anything. And hounds should always be dogs that 'pack up' easily which is nice in multidog households

Its always a toss-up how a dog from lines mostly bred to live in kennels will adjust to living in a house but all the coonhounds I know of who are pets have adjusted just fine and tend to be lazy in the house

Moses has been an easy-ass puppy. He self regulates astoundingly well and I'm honestly jealous because he will do stuff like PUT HIMSELF DOWN FOR NAPS when he gets tired, which... **looks at Lambchop** lol

My mom has been really sick recently and not as able to get him out and was expressing guilt about it to me the other day because Moses has been just FINE about napping with her in bed all day apart from a couple like, 30min bouts of puppy silliness/zoomies etc. Like he just doesn't care.

Definitely not the same vibe as, like, breeds that you hear "they need a job" about, lol, I think those tend to be herding type breeds and they adjust less well to being pets than scenthounds, when you take one from a working farm sitution and make it a house pet, but that might be an overly broad generalization

With coonhounds they're not going to be super like, handler sensitive (or sensitive at all lol) and that's where the "stubborn" thing comes in I think. Although since Moses showed up SO early, and we have been raising him carefully and with lots of puppy culture foundations, his handler focus is honestly much stronger than I expected but I don't know how much of that is due to his innate temperament etc as I don't know any of his immediate relatives. In general the adult coonhounds that I've met seem to have a "yes I love you so so much let's kiss okay I'm going to go do hound stuff now bye :)" approach to people, lol

In general they'll follow their noses!!!!!!! They'll run off and they'll bay. That's what they were bred to do. Moses' baying is really weird sounding and yelpy right now like a goofy teenage boy 😂 we started really strong with his recall and check-in training to try and balance any "running off" tendencies he might develop in adulthood but right now he's amazing and gets lots of cheese for coming to find us when he has off leash time around the farm. Unlike some other dogs that might have "run off and tree an animal" urges, coonhounds don't seem to be fence testers in my limited experience

omg if there's one thing you'll never have to beg me to talk about, it's them! I did do a general headcanon post for them a while back, so I needed to ponder it for a bit so that I wouldn't repeat myself too much. but thinking post-canon again:

We know a deep love of Shakespeare is something they share and they're both theatre kids, so I bet they enjoy attending performances all over Europe and North America whenever they get the chance—from Shakespeare's Global Theatre in London to small community plays put on by local high schoolers in Manhattan and Brooklyn. It's an easy, low-stakes topic of conversation; something they're passionate about and can spend at least an hour or two afterwards breaking it all down (the acting, directing, design, etc).

Lestat loves animals, and he's always had a bit of a gift in being able to connect with them. Armand used to visibly wince every time Lestat would stop to pet a dog on their walks around Paris, getting dog hair on his designer pants and scuffs on his Italian shoes from an overly excitable pup, but now it just makes him happy to see Lestat happy and carefree since that's such a rare sight in and of itself these days (heavy is the head that wears the crown and all).

Once every few years, they fall down the rabbit hole of watching the trashiest of reality television together. The storylines don't make sense, the cinematography is atrocious, the fashion and acting even worse. I won't name names, you know what I'm talking about. "Grotesquely entertaining in its stupidity," Armand comments. Lestat can lay there spellboundatwalmart.jpg for hours on end with his head resting on Armand's lap, unable to look away while Armand absentmindedly plays with his hair.

Eternally 17 and 20 respectively, Armand and Lestat will always pass for older teens/young adults. They look like any other teenage couple sneaking around in Central Park to cuddle, grope each other, and make out after dark. Of course, they don't have to sneak around to do anything but it's fun for them to roleplay being young and starry-eyed innocent mortals without a care in the world. They also exploit their appearance sometimes by dressing down and blending in with other people "their age" for a night. It's a nice change in routine from the responsibilities of Trinity Gate and Auvergne and always makes for an amusing story.

Not conventionally fluffy, but I think they would find it very erotic and oddly tender to watch the other feed off a human that resembles them. Armand's heart would be so full witnessing Lestat in the rapture of a swoon over a mortal that could've passed for Amadeo's brother and same goes for Lestat. Aside from petty squabbling, this is a much sweeter version of their foreplay. ♥️
