Its written so its as if their careers began at the same time. There's obviously some parts where they deviate from each other(I blame Fernando), but they're pretty similar, no??

Here's some notes I have:

They both started at technically the same team(if you ignore that Seb raced one race for Sauber): Minardi/STR. And they spent 3 seasons either racing for that team or testing(Fernando for Renault, Seb for BMW teams), before being promoted to the team where they won their respective WDCS.

They both spent six seasons with their WDC team. And both won their WDCs using Renault engines. Both were pretty much the golden boys of their teams, beloved by their team principal and team in general. Unfortunately both aren't consecutive because Fernando tried out McLaren lol.

They spent a similar amount of years at Ferrari(five and six respectively.) Neither could win a WDC with Ferrai(😔) And both joined Ferrari in a very similar way. When Fernando joined, he ousted Kimi and it was very uncertain where Kimi was going. I think the commentators in 2009 predicted McLaren? (But he ended up taking a sabbatical obv.) But pretty messy, right? The literal same exact thing happened with Fernando and Seb in 2014-2015. They finally announced at the end of the season, even though it was pretty obvious, that Seb would be replacing Fernando. And where did Fernando go? McLaren! The history book on the shelf is always repeating itself. I guess I find it funny that Fernando replaced his former rival under somewhat messy circumstances, only for his other rival to do the exact same thing to him years later.

Okay McHonda and Alpine blah blah blah. Anyways they're probably going to have both end up competing their careers after two years with Aston Martin. This honestly is my favorite parallel. Because it's very sweet to me that Seb replaced Fernando, in an aforementioned messy way, only for Fernando to take Seb's seat in a very peaceful, almost "passing the torch" type exchange 🥰

I’ve been thinking about how small animals in the vicinity of NRC probably live in perpetual terror. Specifically in the context of your non-human AU, but this could also apply to regular TWST as well.

If NRC has some kind of pond with fish, it would have to be enclosed up to deter *some* students (Floyd. Or maybe aquatic beastmen.) from thinking it’s a pool with free flow snacks and taking a dip. Crowley is weeping. Those exotic koi cost money! And whoever did it didn’t even finish the job, electing to just bite off the heads like some sort of fish killer psycho.

Imagine as well Leona showing up at Ramshackle’s doorstep with the smuggest look on his face and presenting Yuu with a mouse or a bunny, any small animal really. He’s so proud of himself. He caught you a snack, Herbivore. Isn’t he the greatest?

He’s like a cat that brings its prey back to the house. Fortunately, the little thing is still alive. A bit roughed up and traumatised, but still very much alive. Leona is, understandably, confused at his herbivore’s distress after they quickly extract the creature from his grasp. He is less than pleased as he watches Yuu fuss and coo over it. Later on, he sulks as he sits across from his herbivore who is cradling the animal to their chest. He glares at it as Yuu showers it with attention (What about him, Herbivore?!), as if it was the source of all of his problems.

I love its canon that Leona catches birds sometimes during P.E.

Regular Leona knows better than to expect you to eat it and prob brought it to you to show off his skill, didn't expect you to get upset at him and love on the bird. Very grumpy cat about the situation.

In the Nonhuman AU though...well eating properly prepared bugs is normalized and it is advised to not eat random birds, rabbits, and whatever, especially raw but it's not uncommon for beasts in this AU to give into those impulses, and it's why it's common for the meatballs in the school cafeteria to have anti-parasite meds in them.

So, Leona might be a little miffed you didn't like the snack he brought, but at least he can impress you with the healing magic he knows by using it on the little guy, so you'll have to let it go and pay attention to him again. See? He can hunt and heal, very useful skills for a mate.

You know Floyd and Ruggie though would be eating those fish regardless of the AU.

Okay so I've been sitting on Drake so called "diss track" and I still declare it as the biggest CONTRADICTING ASS track ever. Like I get die hard Drake fans gone be like he won regardless but he hasn't because he made several deep holes in his argument. Granted you probably don't give a damn and that's fine. How could you blame him, though? His busy idol life hogged all of the potential time you two could have together. You knew this would happen before you agreed to make it official, and yet nothing could have prepared you for the feeling of pure betrayal every time Beomgyu doesn't reach out for days, sometimes even weeks, at a time because he's occupied with his idol-related schedules.

Because of this, you often find yourself in the position you're in now, laying on your bathroom floor with the warm water running from your tub—the steam causing the full-length mirror beside you to slightly fog up, causing a relieved sigh to be pulled from your lips silently thanking it for hindering the ability to see the state you're in. You clutched your phone tightly in your hand, sucking in a deep breath as you stared at your lock screen. "No recent notifications" was displayed proudly, as if to taunt you. It had been exactly one month since Beomgyu last texted or called you. Sure, you aren't entitled to his time off, but not even a "hi" or an "I love you" from the one person who's supposed to care?

You scoff, dropping your phone onto the tile floor below you, the tears you once held astray now boiling over and onto your cheeks, a familiar sting in the back of your throat as your brain replays all of your fond memories with Beomgyu... like the first winter you shared together, he had surprised you on your way home from work, lifting you off the ground in his arms tightly and spinning you around as the first snowfall of the year cascaded down on you both or the first kiss shared between the two of you that was cut short because you had accidentally bit his tongue, and of course you couldn't forget the pure embarrassment you felt afterwards, but it was okay, Beomgyu was there to hold you, to comfort you, to whisper sweet nothings in your ear, but now as you lay on your bathroom floor, and the steam makes it harder to breathe properly, you remember he isn't there.

He hasn't been there. Not because he couldn't be, but because he didn't want to be. A soft smile appears on your face, and it's a striking contrast to the hot tears still pouring down your cheeks. You're ready to let go and move on. As your shaking hands move towards your phone beside you to finally block his number, you hear a ding. Beomgyu messaged you, "Wyd?" It was barely even a proper message, yet overwhelmed by relief and adrenaline, all of those old feelings for him came flooding back. You instantly reply, lying that you're with your friends, and you sigh, just one last time you think. But you know it won't be. You know that every time you slip away from his grasp, you'll crawl back because that's how it always has been, but you didn't care; you loved him regardless. You'll love him always.

Why I Headcanon Waylon Park as a Trans Guy?

it came to me in a dream.

ok but jokes aside (well not entirely it DID actually originate because of a dream i had getting interrupted by a nonexistent video essay on the topic... dreams are weird man), i do want to try talking about my reasoning for this (although it's totally legit to hc a character as trans purely because you want to!! thats totally based also lol), because maybe it'd be interesting to hear the lens through which i saw this game? idk lol but i'm doing it anyway... below the cut in case it gets long

Ok immediate prefaces, A: i doubt this was actually the intended at all and i'm not trying to say it's canon, just saying why i read it that way :3 and B: this will probably be a rambling mess and I apologize, I'll try to make it somewhat make sense.

I guess I'll start with: a whole major thing of Outlast, is fighting to tear down this large corporation, that is like. the embodiment of shitty systems that exploit people (this post by bry mentions that general topic, although more focused on miles' angle). It's worth noting because, to me at least, fighting these sorts of systems really aligns with a lot of queer folks (and basically any group that gets fucked over by the system, which is most of them loll). There's like, this whole thing of Waylon seemingly fitting that image of the ideal typical man, with the wife and kids and a job, but he has to risk all of that to do what he feels is the right thing.

(Oh yeah, I guess quick tangent on that note. Yes I know in canon we literally see his dick lmao and also we know he has kids, which you might think would deter my hc here. but A: i already said ik it's probably not canon, i can still read into it regardless. B: intersex ppl exist. C: phalloplasty and other similar procedures exist. D: ppl can have kids in non-traditional way. so im prob not gonna cover that element of it more)

My brain hasn't been able to help but interpret his whole journey in a queer way, because i played it as a teenager still in the throes of understanding my identity and place in the world, so in the end this might not even make sense to anyone else. But, I'm trying to explain, so I'll continue to regardless.

I kind of saw it as Waylon hiding in the protection of an "ideal" life. On the surface he looks like he's in that American ideal family, but it's a subversion. He's only one of them because they think he is. Because he doesn't step out of line. Unlike Miles, who's more outspoken about issues, who seemingly has no one around him. He's treated as part of this "ideal" world, while working in the background to try and stop the exploitation and immoral acts going on.

When he's caught, when he's seen as something more complicated than first imagined, he's cast out. Lumped in with the same people being exploited by Murkoff already. He isn't "human" to them anymore. He's something else. Something they don't like.

Although the violence brought upon him is by the variants, it is still in part Murkoff's doing, since they fucked these people up via these experiments to a point of heightened violence and just generally ruining their lives more than they already had been by whatever they had done prior. That being said, they are still responsible for their own actions.

the stuff with Eddie is definitely the part that most resonated with me through this lens. I remember first playing it, and he scared me the most, for a lot of reasons. One of which being what he represented. He's The Groom. He wants someone to be his Bride, and you're it, even if you don't want that. As someone who's aroace AND already knew at that point that i wasn't a girl, this guy felt like a human embodiment of the pressures to fit what was expected of you. That one day, you'll be married and have kids. If you don't, then you're worthless.

But it's interesting especially, because Waylon IS married. He has kids already. He has that family. The difference is, in this hypothetical trans lens, he's not "really" in a traditional family. He's "pretending", as some might see it, because he's not "really one of them". Being Eddie's Bride is the situation that would've been expected of him, but he said "fuck that", and did his own thing.

Plus, like, with Eddie in particular, you will NEVER be what he wants. He will try to make his perfect bride, but you'll never be it. Even before Mount Massive, no one was what he wanted, judging by all the people he killed. He's a broken man desiring something but never liking his options.

Also just fucking. these lines from eddie make me lose my mind.

That part of you the world sees, they think it's perfect. As God intended. Even these idiots and lunatics see it. There's something special about you. On the surface. But when they look deeper, when anybody with eyes to see looks at what you truly are. That's why they don't trust you. You're not what you're meant to be. Not yet. This place can see into your mind. And the things you've done. Oh, they're a sin, darling.

I know it's probably just Eddie rambling but it felt like he reached through the screen and grabbed me by the throat like.

Anyway in actual relation to my point. uh. Remember the thing I said about Waylon being a "fake" typical family? This kind of relates to that. Like, on the surface, he seems like he's got this perfect typical American family, he's "as God intended" (which. bro. i swear that exact phrase has been used against trans people so many times). But if you look closer, you'll realize there's more to it than that. Also like, going from the "as God intended" line to the thing about the things he's done being a sin, like hmmm. Maybe I'm reading into that too much, considering we know Eddie wants to make you into his Bride, so of course he's gonna think stuff like that. But still. It's a bit interesting to me.

Plus, it's interesting how, despite having a wife and kids, he's still more... feminized, I guess, than any other characters in this game. Both in the game itself, and within the fandom. Like, not just Eddie literally calling him a woman and trying to make him his bride, but also stuff like a variant near the beginning calling him a "pretty flower" before threatening him, Andrew (one of the staff) licking his face at the beginning of the game... A lot of violence and sexual-ish acts that are often directed at women in media. Even Frank, who I don't have as much to say about here, has some weirdly sexual undertones to his whole cannibalism thing.

This isn't entirely related but one part of the game that still sticks with me but I don't see mentioned as much, is near the beginning. Those guys stabbing the dead staff member. One of them remarks that "there are no observers here" and "do you think you're different? Something special?", which I think helps cement the whole idea that he's treated the same as the rest of people being exploited by Murkoff now. There's no turning back to that "ideal" life you were hiding in before. Hell, that's definitely reinforced more at the end of the game, when you choose to publish your footage, knowing Murkoff will come after you for it, and probably ruin your life. Maybe there's more interesting things to glean from that, but i thought they were interesting lines nonetheless.

anyway, overall I know this is probably just the ramblings of a trans/generally queer person reading WAY too much into a character that I happened to resonate with when i played the game, but i thought maybe it would be interesting for others to understand what would lead me to this conclusion? Anyway, that's all i've got on the subject right now, so I hope it was at least a little interesting.

Pile 1: Library: “Take control of your own narrative” Writing. Writing yourself into stories where you are your desired gender and have your desired appearance. Consuming content with people of your gender is also incredibly gender euphoric for you. You love getting representation for your gender, and it makes you feel a sense of bliss. Lavender: “Surround yourself with love” Hanging out with friends who support you is something that gives you gender euphoria. Your friend groups may be gender-diverse which gives you a sense of euphoria as your role in those relationships isn’t limited to your gender. If you’re out to your friends, they might support you and use your desired pronouns and if not, you know they’re still great friends who would support you regardless (even if they don’t understand). Universe: “We’re all just stardust” Body neutrality might give you gender euphoria. Body neutrality is the idea of appreciating your body for what it can do, regardless of what it looks like or how it functions. Giving your body parts names that are gender neutral or euphoric in relation to your gender, especially if you haven’t gotten surgeries or don’t intend on getting surgeries. Also, the idea of your body being a “flesh vessel” might also give you some comfort. Feather: “Think first before you judge” Similar to the Lavender message, you appreciate people who take the time to listen rather than immediately declare that they don’t support you, people who are willing to listen and take the time to support you, even if they struggle with it or don’t fully understand it. The efforts that family, friends, and/or acquaintances go through are something that gives you gender euphoria.

Pile 2: I think you guys want to be able to embrace your femininity in a way that works for you. I'm getting drag but it doesn't have to be about drag necessarily, just hyper femininity especially if you guys are amab. I feel it's been a constant struggle for you to determine what makes you feel feminine. You don't fit in or align with regular societal conventions around being feminine especially if you're somebody who's into new age stuff or if you're in a more conservative country. You may have a hard time with some of the gender roles and expectations of women or just what it means to be feminine in that culture. Sitting with yourself and really reflecting on what makes you feel feminine will help. Being surrounded or wearing very cute things, specifically getting the coquette aesthetic or just fairy/mystical nature vibes. Having a femininity that isn't like super hyper sexualized but also makes you feel very confident or at least one where you don't feel like you have to compete with other women to be more feminine. A lot of you have struggled with people telling you that you're not feminine enough or you're too feminine if you're male presenting. Really trying to separate from yourself and how you've been programed to see femininity in general especially if you struggle with being surrounded by toxic masculinity. some of you may also get euphoria from dressing up more gothic or alternative but may feel like you can't out of a fear of judgement. Also dark coquette vibes like black lace and doll like clothing. For some of you, you think that if you start wearing darker clothing, you'll be seen as an outcast but I personally think you'd just look really cute. some of you are also interested in wearing latex or bdsm clothing.. You could also try introducing that into your wardrobe little by little, maybe wearing a lowkey harness with your regular clothes or wearing latex stockings under a long skirt.

Pile 3: Grey: “Endings are inevitable” & Tree: “Let them go” Letting go of toxic people and cutting loose ends gives you gender euphoria. You (TW!) might not have supportive family members or friends, and you may intend on cutting them off. The idea of cutting them off and getting freedom from them, being able to be authentically yourself gives you gender euphoria. Burning those bridges and finding a new community to settle in (found family) may also give you gender euphoria, and you may or may not already have these people in your life. Tower: “Unplug & relax for a spell” Self-care makes you feel gender euphoric. You may have already transitioned (if you intend to) or you already feel confident in your body and your body makes you feel euphoric. You may focus on the small details of your body that give you that subtle confidence, and it makes you feel great. You may also be a witch or practice magic, which also gives you gender euphoria. You may study LGBTQ+ figures in religion or worship them, or feel accepted by them. In your religion or faith of choice you might feel unjudged and it gives you a heavy sense of euphoria and relief. Voyage: “You already have all the answers” Similar to the message from Tower, your body and the changes it goes through give you gender euphoria. You might be growing a bit of stubble, or your voice is finally pitched to perfection, or you were (finally) addressed as the gender you are in the grocery store or something similar. Also, knowing who you are and having that confidence within you gives you gender euphoria.

Pile 4: I'm already getting similar vibes to pile number 2 but even more dark and alt mostly gothic lolita and darker more fancy alt clothing. You guys might really love (or would love) to present as genderless. You might also identify as agender. Some of you might want to have a body that isn't super adult like and genderless in that way. It's not a weird regression thing but more having a body that can't be sexualized or presents as very neutral. There's specific top surgery for this but i forgot the name, def look into it though if it's something you might be interested in. A lot of you peeps give me Mana from Malice Mizer vibes (an iconnnn✨) He (and gothic lolita and the visual kei style in general) present as genderless at least to me. I think you guys would really appreciate retro or old Gothic clothing, again gothic lolita also vampire like goth clothing? That sounds snazzzy. I'm also getting glam rock for some of you (I've been into glam rock drag lately, it's perfect) Clothing where people literally would look at you and would just stutter when figuring out what pronouns to use for you. Just everyone being confused would honestly give ya'll a lot of euphoria. Also, if there was a particular style that you really liked in your childhood or admired/looked up to, definitely revisit that.

Pile 5: You might also be attracted to pile three. Mural: “Be your own first priority” & Potion “Practice self love.” Putting yourself and your needs first gives you the feeling of gender euphoria. Knowing you are advocating for yourself and the things you need, having the confidence to charge in without fear. Not focusing on the bigots, and being your best authentic self surrounded by people who accept you. Sundress: “Do it for you” & Evil Queen: “You deserve sugar, not salt.” (18+!) Dressing in feminine clothes might give you gender euphoria, depending on your gender or gender expression. Or in general, dressing the way you’d like to dress in terms of your gender. Possibly doing gender-positive makeup, using it to affirm your identity. You might participate in drag if it is applicable or dress as (stereotypically) different genders (especially if you are nonbinary or anywhere under the genderfluid umbrella). Additionally, (18+!) participating in sexual acts that reaffirm your gender gives you gender euphoria. Lighthouse: “Don’t doubt your worth” Like the first section, being an absolute bad b!tch is something that gives you gender euphoria. You might proudly be out of the closet, advocating for trans-youth, a nightmare in the comments sections (in a good way!), calling out bigots, etc. Such powerful energy honestly from this pile. You get gender euphoria by being your absolute, unapologetic self, even if it pisses off some people, you’d gladly piss them off and then some more, existing just out of spite.

Pile 6: You guys might suffer severely from (CW!) gender dysphoria. You may be considered more voluptuous or round especially for your gender. I'm getting a lot of amab people here, especially if you weigh more than others. I'm getting a lot of you just want to get rid of what you perceive to be womanly. At the same time, what would make you happier though is taking the time to plan your transition out. The transition itself would obviously give you lots of euphoria but you might feel as though you have to rush through your transition or as if there's no way you can live with the amount of dysphoria you have at the moment. I'm not saying that to say you should stay upset with your body and postpone any gender-affirming healthcare. However, I think you might need more exploration than you've initially thought. I also think talking to people about your feelings around your body would be really helpful or even just journaling about the changes that you might want and specifically why you want them. Again, not in a way to put yourself down but as a way to really think and see what would bring you happiness. And for some of you that is just losing weight and not being as curvacious. There might also be smaller ways to ease your dysphoria too. I think if you have been brought up by a more conservative family, you were programmed to believe in general roles especially in terms of your body that you definitely still should unpack. If you've ever felt like you're unnatural for feeling this way or as if transitioning was unnatural, you should just love your body the way it is. yada yada, I want you to know that whatever you believe in (whether that's a higher power, spirit guys, or just you know your future self) they DO want you to make this transition and they do approve of you making bodily changes in a way that would really make you happy. I honestly relate to this group and I feel like I'm gonna cry but just know we're all rooting for you!

and ooo, hmm 🤔 this may or may not be base on their characters in the yandere route series. to rate them from the most to least violent would be divided into two parts.. 1) how they act towards their darling, and 2) to someone who isn't their darling, I would rate them like this:

1. Sunghoon — this kid is violent and sadistic once he's on yandere mode yk .. regardless of whether it's his darling or other people lol. idk it's just his vibes that gave sm sadistic and sinister aura, and that he enjoys giving pain to his darling lol.

2. Ni-ki — yk the drill :') i have this FREAKING favourite dialogue of him when he does these grotesque stuffs regardless of whoever it is, but I CANT SAY IT !! I've BEEN HOLDING IT IN SINCE LAST YEAR SEPTEMBER. UGH. So if it comes to giving punishments to his darling, just pray that she would survive lol..

3. Jungwon — actually this one is complicated cuz yk leader and mature vibes !! so it would be incorporated into his yandere side as well, which would be quite a big facade that fools people around especially his darling. but to me, he's the most violent one towards others if provoke. yet he acts differently towards his darling, surprise surprise ! (ofc he's my muse) he'd rather give his darling a slight lecture, emotional manipulation that is, heh 💀

4. Sunoo — I'm rlly excited to write his route cuz his way of eliminating people out of his darling's lane is yk a bit grotesque.. he is violent in another way that doesn't require much physical fightings or whatnot, you could say he does it with class 🥂 but I don't rlly see him punishing his darling, he'd prob do it by brainwashing them and all that stuff.

5. Heeseung — Anyone who's a reader for route 1 knows this alrd lol but he doesn't do anything if it's not necessary to do. but most of the time, if he's provoked plus if he sees it fit then say goodbye to your life cuz you'll never see the luminous sun to take a selfie again :) i see him as a calculative yandere, so he won't rlly punish his darling if it's not necessary to his plans. and if it does, then it's another story. 🥲

6. Jake — yep sixth on the list, like heeseung.. yk I'm dying with Jake wearing glasses but yea he knows how to keep his emotions in check despite being the most innocent looking out of them all sorry Sunoo but when he does, it's still part of his plan lmfao.. also if he punish his darling, it's not that bad. prob a spank or two 🗿 and he will go all cooing at his darling and making them dinner lol.

5. Jay — yea this dude is the most humane of all of them in both aspects cuz lol his darling is a different breed 😭😭 he doesn't find violence to be that necessary.. to see him getting violent, giving punishments and all is a rare sight to witness. He prefers to seduce his darling LMFAO it in another way ehem but I won't say it lol

Whilst Asuka and Lili are yuri bait, tbf... Tekken as a series is just horrible with romantic relationships. I think Harada himself has confirmed that he sucks at love stories. It's not just the "gay" ships that suffer this, but even the straight ships.

Of course this was filled with comments like "wHaT wOUlD mAKE yOU thINK tHEY'RE aNymORE tHAN fRIENDS???" but like...

look at Jin & Xiaoyu. Most people can agree that Xiaoyu is indeed Jin's love interest. But... what have the two done that's any special from other type of relationships in the games? That Xiaoyu was willing to hunt down Jin no matter what? Hwoarang is literally the same way. Xiaoyu held Jin's hand? Jin held a lot of people's hands in the games, the only difference is that he held hers a little more "tenderly" and longer. The only ""confirmations"" we got that Jin & Xiao are supposed to romantically love each other is in 1) Xiaoyu said "you're the same Jin I've always loved," and 2) Xiaoyu's (noncanon lol) ending in TK8. Other than that, there's... nothing else. Yes, it's obvious since, at least 4 maybe, that Xiao has had a crush on Jin. But there hasn't been much of anything to show that Jin felt the same. Jin himself never even utters the word "love" to Xiao. Yes, people use that Jin flashbacks to Xiao when saying "I want to live" but again... that's also a blink & you'll miss thing because he also flashbacks to his other friends when fighting Kazuya. Jin & Xiao haven't even kissed each other - no, scratch that, Jin & Xiao haven't even HUGGED EACH OTHER. The only time we've EVER seen Xiao hug was in a noncanon daydream in TK6. Why couldn't they have at least hugged?

Jun & Kaz are such a wreck that, until TK8, fans HEAVVILY debated whether or not they were ever actually together. Some people argued it was a one night stand, some people argued Jun loved Kaz but Kaz didn't love Jun, some people had more unsavory theories. This is all because there wasn't a SINGLE OFFICIAL GAME where Kazuya mentioned how he felt about Jun. Even in TK6's recaps of the games, Kaz just mentioned that she was "mysterious" and nothing else. He never said that she was the only woman he's loved, or that he even misses her. It wasn't until TK8 that they made it more apparent (with his ending, and I guess Jun's ending) that Kazuya is genuinely in love with Jun.

Alisa & Lars, from what I remembered, are probs the "clearest" of these relationships, especially in 6. Fuck, at least we SEE Alisa hug Lars (in TK7, I believe she tackles him) "Jin" mocked Lars for "loving" Alisa in TK6, and both of their TK8 endings involve them being "lovey dovey" toward each other. But even then, they're NOT CANON since Alisa's bio for TK8 mentions she feels "weird" around Lars, which heavily implies she's in love with him... but it implies it as if she's confused, that they're not in a relationship yet. Hell, in the canon story, Alisa seemed more interested in Jin than Lars like lmao.

Eddy & Christie are also often debated if they're supposed to be a couple. But from everything in canon, it just seems like they're only good friends.

Kuma and Ganryu both have unrequited crushes that never go anywhere and...

Heihachi & Kazumi are the only ship where it's evident that they were married and loved each other.

Other than that, everything else is just so... vague! Even with the main character ships (Jin & Kazuya) - it's unclear, and we don't even get these characters hugging. Most of these "ships" are just a character having a crush on the other for 30 years and nothing really developing. I don't know why this is. I don't know if Tek really just doesn't care about relationships (if so, why add all these "crushes" and stuff?) or if they're just really that bad at writing relationships. But regardless, even if Bamco was relentlessly teasing Asuka & Lili, that's... literally what they do with all their ships.

Characters <3 (OG Ask Game)

1. Why do you like or dislike this character?

(This is going to be a paragraph be prepared)

So first of, Darkwing's honestly just really funny. He is the smartest idiot you'll ever meet (The 'breadcrumb on the bridge' scene lives rent free in my head iykyk). He has such a based disguise, but somehow also no swag (at least three villainesseses have fallen for him regardless). He survives purely out of luck and children's-cartoon-protagonist-powers. He saves lives every night and no one respects him. His name is Male Duck. THE character of all time

Also, Darkwing has quite...interesting morals. Like, he isn't gonna kill people, but he also doesn't really care, if they just so happen to die (this is canon) He's also incredibly self-absorbed, to the point it can interfere with how he interacts with other people (though he's also masking his insecurities and trauma, which on that note, I'm a sucker for a sad backstory), but that doesn't mean he doesn't care

With that said, MAN Darkwing CARES. That man got a family in the span of one day, and was immeditaely ready to die for them. Even if he can be clouded by his own ego, he loves Launchpad, and he loves Gosalyn, and he loves being a hero, and he loves being a dad, and he loves being a friend His interactions with Nega-Gosalyn uhwefiohusdf you can not expect me to be normal about that! I will never shut up about Darkly Dawns the Duck, or Steerminator, or Crisis of Infinite Darkwings, I simply can't Not even mentioning the fact that, after years off being completely absorbed into his hero-identity and completely shutting himself of from society, Launchpad is the first person he trusts so completely, he reveals his identity to him. He doesn't just let him into his life as a sidekick, but explicitly as a member of his new family

But (and this is prob one of my favourite tropes any superhero-media can do ever), Darkwing is also shown to care about his villains, though more so in the comics, than the show Of course - one of my favourites - "Dawn of the Day of the Return of the Living Spud". When Darkwing decides to call Bushroot by his first name, to just completely level with him as a person. The situation requires urgency and action, but he knows why Reginald can't do it. He has seen how far that man was willing to go for company, he knows how lonely he is. Darkwing can't force him, so he reasons with him, because Bushroot is not imcapable of being reasoned with. And then even once Posey has already been defeated, and so the stakes are no longer there, Darkwing checks up on him again. He obviously cares about how Reggie is feeling after this. Because while he might think the entire potato-wife-plan was crazy, he can understand how important it was to Bushroot, and how he was forced to kill the only living being he thought came close to being like him

Then there's of course also the entire thing with Quackerjack in "Toy with Me", and Claire humbling him with the idea that Quackerjack (and villains in general), are people beyond what Darkwing sees them as. And while he unfortunately never really got the chance to talk it out with QJ, both times Darkwing had that moment of "trust me, I get it" (For Bushroot it was the loneliness, for QJ wanting to be better than everyone else) And characters like Darkwarrior Duck prove that Darkwing is not above becoming a villain himself, if the circumstances were right. It shows that - to an extent ofc - being a villain or not depends on luck, and is not some unavoidable destiny In some aspects, he's not all too different from them

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

I'm sure this also exists internationally, though I'm not sure to which extent, but here in Germany there's a pretty well-known children's book series called "Conni"

Most of these books are just about a young Conni either expieriencing new things for the first time and learning about them, or learning how to deal with new emotions

And while Jonas is definitely older than Conni is in most of these books:

1. I'm pretty sure if I take Jonas out of his "squeeky-clean" and organized society and put him in anything with too much action, he will explode

2. Because of the whole 'discovering new memories' thing, I think Jonas would actually quite profit from and enjoy learning about all these "mundane" things with Conni. He'd basically just get to have a semi-normal childhood

5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?

At first I was a little stumped at this one, but then it hit me like a truck

That man carries so much guilt and blame within himself, he is Not Okay. He still blamed mostly himself after Kalagan blew up his home

I truly believe that after everything he did in the books, if Kalagan had abandoned his plan even a little early, and made up with Dante, he would have accepted it in a heartbeat, because he was so haunted by his actions, he would have done anything to get back what he once had

6. What's something you have in common with this character?

Oh, I should really re-read the books somewhen. I do have to admit, I don't remember that much about Theo, unfortunately (minus his arcs in the third book, but I have opinions about how those were handled by the plot)

Though from the things I do remember, his "secret" in the fourth book sticks out the most to me. The fact that he keeps thinking about his dove a lot, and tries to imagine what he could have done better I'm also someone who tends to overthink on past scenarios, and how they could have been handled better/differently, especially if I think, I could have fault in said situation

21. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like?

I have yet to actually write a proper MM-Fic tbh, so I'm using this oppurtunity to talk about Good Uncle Sly a little bit

Because as I have said once before, I'd like the Kalagans to connect with the Misfits a little bit, using something that they share (for Theo it's family expectations, Ridley using caution and distrust in order to keep people safe, etc.) For him and Leila, I would get them to connect over their respective times in the orphanage. Because no one in these books who went to an orphanage came out alright (/lh)

So I guess, in one way or another, you could say I like writing a bit more about Leila's trauma. I think trauma exploration in characters is always fun

24. What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them?

I've mentioned this before in passing, but definitely Kilroy and Kincaid, but also Olly and Izzy

Like, Flim and Flam are not evil! At best, they're mean. The worst thing they did imo, was sell fake medicine, otherwise they're just petty scammers and jerks (and in their very first appearance, they weren't even scammers, technically!). But they are very much still schemy business boys

But of course, they have this inherent togetherness. It is literally baked into their characters, looking at their cutie marks; like, those boys were never gonna go off and each do their own thing Like honestly? The whole thing Kincaid does, where he turns himself in to be with his brother, because there is no way to get him out? I could see Flim and Flam doing that

Though I'm throwing Olly and Izzy in here too, because the Kalagans are just slightly missing the very important showman-ship aspect Flim and Flam have. Like don't get me wrong, they are magicians, and they put on "shows", when they rob people. But the way the Goldens perform is just a lot more reminiscent, of how Flim and Flam do it, especially when it comes to overall energy and vibe. You could throw all four of them into the same routine, and they would ace it. Also, both of them are rocking the Barbershop-Quartet fit; straw hats and striped jackets and all

And lastly, they are of course all rocking the Identical Twin Swag (well, Olly and Izzy are fraternal ig, but you get what I mean :P )

@forgottenedmund @forgottenmarian ive been meaning to put this down somewhere, so here it shall be! but this is basically his strategy for figuring out who gets what kind of land/spoils/titles/etc -- w the best/most strategic/richest/best stuff going to higher tiers etc!

ok so roderick is def gonna make sure that ~roderick has the best of everything like!!!! this is def a given lakjdsfkljdf but he also knows that rewarding his most faithful servants is a good idea, so that's def a thing, but he ~also knows he doesn't ever wanna invite anyone getting too big for their britches and tryna grab smth out from under him/his fam, and (atm anyway!) even ~he knows he can't hold the whole world by himself wo v powerful allies to back him up. he also believes that family is the thing he can trust most, w those related most closely being worthy of more trust than those ~less related etc!

this must also be balanced w due respect etc towards the crown and such!!

so! when roderick's handing out goodies to the playable characters, what's the priority? ive got some kinda ~tiers, and within these tiers, he tries to keep things pr even, but in a longterm kind of scale/w a sense of ~earning things getting you more etc. so, if you really exert yourself for roderick you'll get rewarded for it!

for example: uncles of heirs is a tier and, if godfrey really acquits himself well and gets smth big out of it, roderick will then put an uncle of arthur's or guin's in a position where he can really acquit himself and thus potentially earn as much as godfrey did! if he doesn't, that's on him, bc roderick gave him equal opportunity! that kind of thing ;D

RODERICK'S TIERS

empress -- now...the empress is dead! buT she just can't stop winning! and dead or alive, she's still the richest woman in the varmont empire! one of the big things roderick likes to do, right, is play his wives off against e/o by making ~them compete to be his next empress like he does w his heir, its unlikely this award will ever be given, but he's ensured this pot is pr large so the prize is def worth having! and boy is it! the empress, alone, is free to rule over her own holdings like any male lord might! i know, jaw-dropper! now, atm, these holdings are in trust and probs stewarded by either alaric or bart (or perhaps even working together bc it is...a lot and they're both busy, as is!), w that regent splitting the revenues w roderick and w guin, as heirs to the late empress, but all to be reworked, should a new empress ever be named. the empress, as part of roderick's winnings, is always awarded a new holding in every single nation. roderick feels it would be a slight against his own glory, were his empress not to be the second most powerful person in the world and the .richest woman alive!....and she is! well, rich..not...alive... ;D anyway ngl this is also a way of helping assuage his guilt over her death, so that's fun too!

alaric -- sorry to roderick's many (living) wives and children, alaric's in a league of his own!! he's the man who has believed in roderick longest, had his back throughout it all, his most trusted compatriot and warrior and bff! after roderick himself, alaric gets the best of everything! roderick knows alaric can and will hold it, and enrich himself and the empire w whatever he gets bc he's proved it! AND he knows that alaric will do all that w roderick's best interests at heart, too! alaric, alone, out of all the tiers can count on getting a new holding in every single country, regardless of how he acquits himself atp! his loyalty is proven!

ot3: succession -- those heirs out here to scooooore!!! they're gonna get the next best stuff!!!! this is their training-to-rule opportunity, really, so use it wisely bc duly pleasing roderick is as close to that as youre ever gonna get!! nd roderick really ~does actually want them to have a holding in every single country but they're now at the age where they have to earn it!! he will be embarrassed if they fail to do this and they will have to suffer the consequences! now, the boys are most likely gonna earn this through conquest: guin will have to do it by negotiating extraordinary trade deals and diplomatic affairs and strategic marriages and such, both within the empire and outside of it. t he boys can do this as well but they MUST do the other as well and guin CANNOT.

queens: that's right, ladies! sleeping w roderick has its privileges, and you get to hold land in ur own name! obv you don't get to do much ~w that or abt it w/o permissions etc, but you get the revenues from it and that prestige too! also a lot of their households will probs be ppl'd by ppl from their various holdings (aka implied allies) etc!! and they can do more or less as they like, so long as they meet w their council of (male!) advisors before doing anything too big, the heads of which are their respective firstborn sons. alaric, bart, and eoin, and any other extraneous male varmont relations there may be also sit each council, and the respective queen's own male relatives may do as well, (as appointed by the presiding son in question,) all presided over by edmund or arthur, respectively, which is honestly probs another big opportunity for them each to learn abt such things so that's smth! in marian's case, sebastian would also be part of this council. before edmund and arthur were born, arthur or bart or perhaps even roderick, himself, was probs the presiding member.

sebastian: same as ot3: scs, but w less pressure and less opulent potential winnings, bc roderick doesn't mind as much if he doesn't have a holding in every country, etc! he also doesn't have access to affairs ~outside the empire, but may negotiate to his heart's content ~within it as long as he doesn't in any way embarrass roderick ofc!

cassandra: so this one's a lil uhhh weird...she can't do anything to earn anything except by pleasaing/displeasing her father or her mother or full bros doing the same! she also doesn't even get to attend the sessions where her lands etc are dealt with! the deal here is basically that these holdings are effectively her dowry. whoever marries her automatically becomes one of THE most powerful men in the world, becoming archduke and count and lord and everything else w a holding in each of roderick's many domains bc, after guin and roderick's wives, cassandra is the wealthiest and most powerful. (powerless) woman in the world via everything she's got. now, its not nearly as nice as what sebastian's got, bc roderick is here to make sure that his own blood is still more powerful than whoever just ~marries in~ etc, but!!! this is an insane level of wealth and power notwithstanding!!! rn, tho, this one's largely seen to by arthur w sebastian's help, since they both got a lot of holdings of their own to attend to. (also arthur defff checks in w his mom abt what she wants done here but that's just out of love/respect and isn't official bc marian is, ofc, a woman alksdjfkljdsf ironically tho i doubt it occurs to him much to check in w cassandra re: what ~she might want even tho these are literally ~her holdings lakjsdfkljsdf)

the church: yeah his one god getting a temple in every single land! and its gonna be bigg and granddd and flashyyyy, and this guy don't have to earn it! its not on the ~choicest pc of land but its still rad af and lotsa ppl would kill for it but they won't get the chance! the god gets his piece no matter what <3 i would guess that royce is running these, largely, but this lowkey falls under the jurisdiction of the entire privy council to deal w should anything come up and roderick is actively involved w designing each temple etc too

so the immediate imperial family now taken care of, roderick starts to think of satellite family. their tiers are still extravagant, but all ~the best has already been divvied up in the above tiers! now, best can mean amany things, and it incorporates both wealth/power AND strategic significance. so yeah! these guys are less trusted and can't rebel as easily, is basically the thought here!

bartholomew: once roderick's immediate family is all taken care, the very next guy roderick's thinking of is his uncle! he loves this guy, and trusts him as much as he trusts anyone, and before there were kids and multiple wives, bart got WAY choicer pieces!!!! so in the early conquests he realllly made out, still!!! he will still be more wealthy/powerful, id imagine, than cassandra's husband, id wager, but he's now much lower on the pecking order than he used to be, as each successive wife and child pops him into a lower bracket than he was, early on. bartholomew, like everyone else, has to earn these but it seems like he's extremely competent so ive no doubt that happens!

eoin/any other extraneous male varmonts: he's only a nephew, sure, but this dude's still a varmont! his ~sons will be varmonts! and that means smth!! so eoin, on his own, probs less wealthy than cassandra's future hubby, since he wasn't alive and accumulating wealth ~that long before roderick started having kids etc, but once he inherits from his dad and unites everything they both have, well, that varmont name still looking pr great!

brothers-in-laws: w all roderick's blood relatives taken care of, its time to start looking in on those in-laws! they def gotta earn this stuff, and a lot of this will depend on politics re: the related queen/heir etc bc if roderick's mad at amira, well, tristan's (look i brought it around to him again in his own post! ;D but...just as an example bahahah) not being put in a position to earn another holding! ~marian's brother is! and so forth lakjdsfalkjsdf this will ultimately also encompass families who intermarry w roderick's kids, etc. (bc in roderick's mind this is def happening someday! too bad only roderick stands in the way... ;D alkjsdflkjdsf) fathers of wives get better pieces than her brothers, older brothers get better pieces than younger ones, etc. cassandra's husband's family would get lesser pieces than the families of the queens, or of the princes' wives, since his social standing would be lesser. guin's hsuabdn's family would get more than sebastian's and it'd be a whole thing abt whether he gets more than arthur or edmund's bride's families but probs he would?

council members: here's where your alistair greys and your alexander royces come in! they too have to earn it -- in war, yes, but largely w good politicking! roderick likes that thing you did? you get a holding! you get a holding! you displeased him? no holding for you! etc

other loyal lords: earned by extraordinary deeds and pleasing roderick! you're a lord who distinguishes yourself in. me way? you get another holding courtesy the god's chosen! congrats! its good to be you!!! so yeah, roderick keeps lands to himself in this strata and a lesser one so that he can hand them out as rewards to those who earn them in his mind. beware tho! he will also give this strata of holding to the tier below if his lords have displeased him in some way, playing the commons and lords off against e/o just as he does w everyone else! (this also tends to help funnel rebels towards local landowners rather than himself -- this is another benefit @forgottenrian unwittingly offers roderick, which he's happy to exploit at any time!)

anyone else: roderick gets the significance of rewarding extraordinary effort! so he ~will raise you from nothing into a lord (w a lesser holding ngl but still!), if you're somehow epic enough as an ally to him/he happens to notice you for whatever eason and is randomly feeling generous/wanting to make the point of his generosity felt to his underlings! this category of man, who owes everything to roderick, he knows will fight the hardest and prove the most loyal. he exploits that

i was gonna give a response that could read as bitchy (or just delete this ask, that would've been kinda funny lol) bc like... i dont think it's rude. also im pretty sure ive explained this before, and you can see in my requesting rules my reasons for why i would delete a request. but ill tell you anyway. (dont take a shot every time i say "request", you'll prob get alcohol poisoning)

first of all, i dont delete that many requests. it's a very occasional thing. id say ive only deleted about 5-10% of the requests that ive gotten ever since i started doing requested work, which has been probably 3-4 years atp.

CLOSED INBOX

this has become a new rule (new as in 6 or so months old) but i don't accept requests while my inbox is closed for requests. i close my inbox for a reason. when i get a large amount of requests, i close it so i can work on what ive been given, and then i open it back up when i've gotten through all of my requests.

i do this so I don't feel too overworked and so it's not unfair to the people who requested something. there would be no point in having this rule if i just accepted a request regardless of when i say whether or not im accepting requests (i did this for a long time which became very overwhelming for me at times which is why it's now enforced this way). and it would be unfair to others who either already requested or are waiting for my inbox to open so they can request, because id be spending more time writing which would lead to my inbox being closed for longer.

PREFERENCES AND ABILITIES IN WRITING

some people request something that i either have no experience with (writing or irl) or something that makes me uncomfortable in some way. it could either be something specific (in which case i would put that in my no writing list) or the whole thing would just have a weird vibe/undertone. instead of answering the request saying why i won't fulfill it, i delete it bc i don't want things im not comfortable with on my blog.

BOUNDARIES

overall, i delete requests because they cross my boundaries, boundaries that are incredibly easy to find and see on my blog. in literally every fic ive posted on here (except for the really early things bc i didn't have a masterlist or rules post), plus my masterlist, there's a link called "request something" which leads you to my requesting rules. this urges you to read everything you should know what you need to before you actually send in a request. so if you ignore any of that, im obviously gonna see it as you being ignorant and disrespectful of the boundaries that ive created.
