The Secret History by Donna Tartt shares a similar name to Secret History by Procopius (Ἀπόκρυφη Ἱστορία, Apókryphe Historía in Ancient Greek or Historia Arcana in Latin). Procopius' text is an account of the court of Roman Emperor Justinian I, one that reveals it to be corrupt behind the scenes, though this is widely disputed in terms of historical accuracy. The general consensus is Secret History is an unreliable account from an author whose reasons for writing it as such could range from being a warning to future emperors to it being more like a bad gossip column.

Anyways. If I had a nickel every time a book with the name (The) Secret History gave us a glimpse into a group of elites who carry dark secrets and plots, told from the perspective of an unreliable narrator, I'd have two nickels. Not a lot, but weird that it's happened twice.

well except for the fact that Anakin and Padme couldn't exchange wedding rings, so they instead exchanged droids. and Luke is always with R2-D2 and is so much like his mother. and Leia is always with C-3PO and is so much like her father. but she never reconciles a relationship with him because she only ever knew Vader, unlike Luke who was able to see Anakin and have those final moments with him. and then at the end of the og trilogy everyone's celebrating Vader's death while Luke mourns the father he just met. and Leia never knows her father's goodness, only the evil. and Padme is DEAD and HAS BEEN.

wake up new bittersweet HP head canon just dropped

while Harry lived with Sirius, Sirius introduced him to all his old vinyls (don't think of the logistics) and talked about how he'd listen to them with James and Remus so Harry's a big fan of Bowie, Queen, The Who, etc now too. After Sirius passed, he kept all the vinyls and listens to them frequently because A) Sirius made him a classic rock fan and he loves it B) it makes him feel connected to James, Sirius, & Remus, years after they've passed. Harry, of course, passes the love for classic rock down to his kids. this is an unpublished part of my wip that is lowkey abandoned rn (if i return to it, i'll be rewriting the posted chapters)

being a marauders fan can be so draining because why am i doing homework? like the required reading is a bunch of 500k+ word fanfics, but i got extra credit bc i read the 7-book source material and also this week i have an excel sheet due of all the different fancasts for the characters which speaking of i hope you memorized all those family trees because we have a quiz next tuesday- oh where does pandora go? idk fill in an answer. thankfully my wip isn't due until the end of the semester but i need to research and memorize these spells like I'M A WIZARD and then cite my sources when people say i got them wrong. anyways, i gtg study bye.
