Last night at home for a while; I’m nervous, haha. I have a couple last minute things to take care of early tomorrow, and then I should be off for the Congo.
I’m expecting to meet the team of Council agents there, and a couple of others I met through the New Dawn compound last year: Kwanele, a Togati sorcerer with extensive knowledge of the myths, legends, and supernatural elements of the region, and Sizikele, the younger sister of someone I helped evacuate from the compound. She wants to repay the ‘debt’ and, if possible, help in getting back at the man who harmed her sister, regardless of the risks to herself. She’ll be helping navigate the more mundane side of the expedition, where Kwanele’s reputation as an evil witch-doctor may prove a detriment.
...She doesn’t know that Kwanele played a role in what happened to Nomsa. I’ve already informed the Council to keep them away from each other as much as possible. I don’t trust him not to be so much of an asshole to gloat even if I’ve already paid for his silence on the matter.
Communication will likely be spotty until we get the camp set up; so if I go quiet over the next few days, that’s probably why. Hopefully there won’t be too many complications.
I hope everyone else is doing well. Or. Managing at least.

Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book.

The University of Barcelona's Medicine Faculty has temporarily installed a giant heart made by the Catalan artist Jaume Plensa, with the building's columns acting as the ribcage.
The objective of this work of art is to raise awareness about cardiovascular illnesses, which are the leading cause of death worldwide.
The work is titled El cor secret (The Secret Heart). The heart measures 13 metres tall and 10 metres wide, and weighs 150 kg. It's made of synthetic materials and painted by hand. It had previously been shown in Germany in 2014 and was supposed to arrive to Plensa's home city sooner, but it was delayed because of covid. Instead, in 2020, Plensa donated one of his famous head sculptures to this same building, to thank medicine professionals and students for their work during the pandemic.

And they’re in.
They locked in when I put them in the right slots - kind of went with the paint flecks on the frame when it came to what went where.
Seems like they all rotate independently, the four disks and the centerpiece, presumably so you can rotate the smaller panels around and... make the disks a solid color?
