This collab idea came to me as I thought about the type of stories I like to read on Tumblr. I also enjoy reading creepy reddit threads like r/Backwoods Creepy and r/creepyencounters. Shoutout to Tallulah ( @antizenin ) for making me get back on Reddit, lol.

So! The theme of this collab is urban legends, myths, fairytales, weird irl encounters; and, fantastical stories (that may or may not be true). Think of Ripley's Believe It or Not and Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction.

Heyo! All the art on these readings is drawn by me. Take what you can from the reading and leave all that does not resonate behind but always be open to new perspectives.

The archetype reading was inspired by the deck I used today. The guide book uses examples from anime to fit the descriptions of the tarot cards. I thought that was really clever so I decided to build off that idea and tell you what archetype you are most drawn to wants to tell you. It’s Audio Drama Sunday and this week was full of bangers! This list is not comprehensive but it is what stuck out this week. Let’s goooooooo

🔥 The Heart Pyre continuously leaves me with the perfect impression of being in middle school reading under my desk. It’s so good it feels like I’m getting away with something. Maybe it’s because Rena is such a relatable protagonist. She’s just a normal girl! She’s just a little teen! What is she supposed to do! And that makes her even more heroic. As always, the choice this week was impossible and I can’t wait to see how it shakes out. Also, Logan And Finn Should Kiss 2k24. @theheartpyre

🗡️ SIDEQUESTING 😭 This episode is so SWEET. I love when Rion grows a little—Sidequesting is episodic and doesn’t lend itself to like, substantial character development. That is fine; it’s not the point of the show. It makes the moments Rion does grow, though, stand out like little jewels. This episode shone. @sidequestingpod

🗝️ Palimpsest is doing its slow burn thing, referencing itself over again as its name suggests it will do, and in this story, I am Very Concerned About That Man Lenore Married. He is condescending and dismissive and he is isolating her, and I DO NOT TRUST HIM.

📼 Within the Wires—oh my gosh, I literally screamed when the canned noises stopped. What is your game, Tony? What do you want with Brian?

🅿️ Podcube was short this week—Podcube is always short—but this episode had me cracking up at work. I love that this team manages to find new conflicts somehow. Man vs man, but they’re assassins and one of them is convinced the other is in love with the target. Why does this work? Why is this so funny? Please listen to Podcube. @podcube

🩸 Hemophobia continues to make my skin crawl. This episode reveals that the characters are Church of Christ, which, for those who don’t know, means they have a really specific set of beliefs about baptism that I KNOW are going to be perfect fodder for the Horrors. And yet it’s all so normal so far. Creepy. Oh, another thing this episode does is portray with perfect gut-wrenching clarity how strange and awful it us to be a devout teenager, and in like, four different ways. Incredible work.

🎣 Eeler’s Choice has some FANTASTIC sound design this episode as Ran comes into their own as a storm chanter—FRICK. I am worried about them. And their new ship. Please be careful and don’t get eaten by fungus. @eelerschoice

✨ Stories from Ylelmore is brand new and SO GOOD, oh my gosh, I am in love with the earnest delivery, the characters who are absolute BABIES, the genuine fascinating mystery. I can’t wait for more. @storiesfromylelmore

🍔 Midnight Burger’s THREE HOUR FINALE brought us home with Clementine. It wasn’t what I expected, and I think that’s kind of Midnight Burger’s MO. The fact that the tone of the dialogue, that the characters themselves, are so cynical and hard—it will trick you into believing that it’s a cynical show. Maybe it is! But it also fights over and over again for the idea that things can be fixed, that love matters, that you can save people and you have to try, you always have to try. And sometimes you win. And that’s how the universe is meant to work. It kills me every time. Also, shoutout to Alan Burgon, always the best, who I love to hear doing his actual accent. @midnightburgr

🐦‍⬛ Leaving Corvat. Oh my word. It’s a wellness cult. Sleeper’s in a wellness cult. I am really pleased with the development his character’s showing, being decisive and brave.

🍵 Gastronaut is going some places and I am OBSESSED. The relationship between Oscar and Polity is everything to me, and the fact that Oscar has gotten to the point where he refuses to ignore his responsibilities, he refuses to leave people behind—he is sometimes stupid, but he is trying and I’m proud of him.

🧟‍♂️ We are getting to the final episode of Precious Cargo in the Dead and y’all….it’s gonna get juicy. I’m not exaggerating, one of the zombie actors used watermelon to get things sounding juuuuust right. Our next story might be even better, too, I can’t wait to show you.

tis the season!! i wanted to do a little something extra for today, and it is his holiday after all so please, enjoy this retelling of The Raven, written by Jonathan Crane about a visit from another flying burden that plagues him

Once in Gotham city, dreary, as I studied, weak and weary,

Over many a strange and villainous study of my subject, fear

While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,

As of someone gently rapping, coming dangerously near

“Tis some visitor” I muttered “who has dared to come this near –

Edward likely, Edward’s here.”

Ah distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December,

And each separate thought that entered left my reason not so clear.

Eagerly I wished the morrow, vainly I had sought to borrow

From my books surcease of sorrow, that nobody might appear

Baghera loved Jaiden's wings. They were absolutely stunning. Long black feathers matched with smaller purple ones. Ever since she had seen them stretched out for the first time she had wanted to touch them.

And now finally she was. Jaiden sat, slumped slightly over on her bed, Baghera behind her. Her wings were in a disarray. Baghera couldn't help but cluck at her.

“You need to take better care of your wings.” Baghera put her hands carefully against Jaiden's back, starting to straighten and pull out feathers when needed. She watched the tension fade from Jaiden's body and felt extreme satisfaction. Her wings looked even more fantastic after as Jaiden stretched them out wide before closing them back against her back once more.

“Thanks, Baghera,” she said softly before falling down against the bed.

Baghera hesitated before laying down beside her. The bed creaked slightly as Jaiden shifted closer to her, wrapping her arms around Baghera's waist. She was so warm and Baghera was so cold, she couldn't help but pull her even closer as those gorgeous wings spread out before wrapping around the both of them.

“Good?” Jaiden asked. “You seem cold. Thought it might help.”

“Oui,” Baghera said softly. “Thank you, Jaiden.” And before she could stop herself she pressed a light kiss to the top of Jaiden's head. A content sigh fell from her lips and Baghera's heart relaxed. “Bonne nuit, mi amor.”

“Bonne nuit,” Jaiden said hesitantly. “Was that good?”

“Perfect, chérie.”

I am not sure whether Gratia finally transcended the status of unpopular character after over half a year or not, not from what I've seen? 🤔 But she is a GIANT WOMAN that uses a literal chunk of iron to fight, like, the hugest fucking dumbass woman but one that could punch a wall into a dust fdhdhfd She deserves her place amongst the 'fleshed out' Old Hunters with others! The second known female Old Hunter, too, and with enough references available for fanart at that!

She is also found in the prison for people who learned too much about the Healing Church's secrets, or at least were a threat for it, and the fact that Simon has her fist equipped ( x ) is so cool?? She possibly was one of the people that were able to see through the charade and intended to make it fall apart, and considering Gehrman and Maria knew about everything, it creates even more interesting potential for the story and link with other characters!

For bonus points, in the game, bright red hair is linked to Cainhurst! Sure, could be just a design decision, but with writing the stories everything can go! (Gratia for queen lol)

Correct me if this is not as frequient as I've gotten the impression of, but I think making Edgar THE grumpy nerd actually was beneficial for the fandom dhfhsdf It is mostly the impression that can be gotten from how his face looks, but the shitposts potential is infinite! Like, yeah, I kinda detalise his character, but the fact that on simpler level he is one of the core driving comedy tropes appeals to me- because of course it does XD

🤔 I think it would be really good to see more of Cainhurst aesthetic art (primarily clothes-related one) than only Knight sets! They look fantastic, but Cainhurst offers an even bigger variety of sets, like Cainhurst Guardian, both variants of the noble dress (burgundy like Arianna's and grey like Forsaken Castle Ghosts), the armours of the guys in the throne room (also frequently found all over Chalice Dungeons), and also every other gremlin from the portraits that never appeared IN game! King of Cainhurst especially has two whole unused models to work with.

Like, all Bloodborne aesthetics are pretty great, but these gothic vampire noble aesthetic ass people are under-explored! I don't believe Bloodborne attracted people with just werewolves/hunters aesthetic dsfhfdh

A gripping fantasy that will pull the rug out from under you.

“Strike the Zither” follows Zephyr, one of the best strategists of the Xin Dynasty, as she infiltrates an enemy camp to keep her warlordess Xin Ren’s followers from being slaughtered. When she finally meets her match in Crow—an opposing strategist—Zephyr must take fate into her own hands to ensure her survival and change the tide of the war. 

Joan He’s fantastical storyline draws inspiration from the Three Kingdoms period of China, which drew me in and sparked my interest in the source material. I really love how the author’s reimagining has a predominately female cast because of the strength the characters exude and the dynamics that are at play in the novel. The reluctant found family that forms between Zephyr, Xin Ren, and Ren’s two fierce generals showcases their starkly different personalities and how they work together in the name of honor and duty to claim the continent.

I LOVE Zephyr and Crow’s relationship arc! I found it so unique and refreshing because it isn’t your typical enemies to lovers romance. Yes they are enemy strategists that fall in love, but they prioritize their causes over their own feelings. They would rather die at the hands of each other than give in to their desires if it means winning the war. Their relationship is so toxic, but I couldn’t get enough of the tension, mutual pining, secrets, betrayals, and scheming. I was endlessly entertained as I tried to anticipate who would come out on top in their battle of wits, but nothing could have prepared me for that ending!

Anyway I saw you've watched at least a couple animes and I was wondering if you have any suggestions? Trying to get into it but so far I've only really watched a couple studio Ghibli movies, some of bleach and weathering with you +your name

oooo okay I definitely haven't watched a ton of anime or anything but I definitely have a solid amount of shows ticked off my list

(this got long surprise surprise so I'm putting it under a read more)

so based on what you said you've watched so far, you mostly seem to be into anime that's more of a mix of slice of life with vague fantastical elements. the only thing off the top of my head I can think of that fits that vibe is fruits basket, which I'll be honest I only got a couple episodes into but didn't end up completing. that's not because it was bad or anything, I actually really liked the characters, it just didn't grab me. but I've heard amazing things about it! also, when I'm talking about it I'm referring to the more recent remake from 2019 as I've heard that's the better one (?) but also I've never watched the og version (which is like from 2001) so I can't say that for sure that's just what I've heard people say

now onto recommendations of things I've actually watched

I haven't seen bleach but from what I know it's a shōnen manga, so if you like action/adventure kind of stuff the best anime I have ever watched (and tbh one of the best pieces of media I've ever seen hands down) is the anime Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. like, it's widely considered one of the greatest of all time and for good reason. the series is so well-written. all of the characters are so interesting and well-formed, their relationships are nuanced, the story itself deals with a lot of very heavy topics very skillfully while still keeping a lot of moments for humor. and also if you like my crimeboys fics, the center point relationship in fullmetal alchemist is between two brothers who love each other so fucking much just aaaaaa Ed and Al my BOYS. seriously I would not have the crimeboys brothers brainrot today if I hadn't been obsessed with fmab as a teenager. now fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood is on the longer side (like 5 seasons I think) but it's so so worth it I promise. also, if you do watch it make sure you're watching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. like with the aforementioned fruits basket, there's an older version of the series that was made in 2003 (just called Fullmetal Alchemist) and the plot of it deviated from the manga, and from what I've heard it isn't considered to be as good as FMA: Brotherhood. Brotherhood was made in 2009 and follows the manga completely, and while I haven't watched the 2003 version and can't say for sure if it's worse, the general consensus is Brotherhood is the far superior version.

okay that's my one long ramble the rest of the recs I'll give quicker blurbs for

Death Note (yes I know I'm basic but I love it ok): great if you like watching two guys play mental 4D chess. one guy basically has the power of a god to kill people with so he decides to execute criminals with it, the other is the investigator trying to find out who the dude with magic powers killing people is. very fun on the mind games front

Ouran High School Host Club: COMPLETELY different tone to the rec above. Ouran is very goofy and silly with a surprisingly nuanced take on gender for being made in 2006. it's genuinely such a funny show but the characters also have real heart and you really do love watching the relationships that form. it's such a classic I'm pretty sure most people who like anime have watched it. just trust me on this.

Madoka Magica: magical girl anime except, uh, it's not all fun and sparkles. saying anything more will ruin the twist so I won't tell you too much, but I will say this show has very fascinating relationships and GORGEOUS animation like holy shit. if you like my fic starman I feel like you'll enjoy this. if you do decide to watch it try to finish at least up to ep 3 before deciding if you'll continue with it or not, bc that's when the show 'properly' starts imo

I’ve started to learn the importance of gratitude recently and I think it’s one of the most helpful aspects of my practice, especially for my mental health

What I do is I make two lists, one for the present and one for the future. I start every bullet point with “I am thankful for…”

My present list is for things I currently have. This list is important because it shows me I have the power to manifest what I want into existence and gives me specific examples. I love putting myself in the mindset I was in when I was manifesting these things, because it makes me use and appreciate what I have on a whole other level. Examples of what I will write in this list are things like “I am thankful for my iPad and my PC”

My future list is for things I want. I still write this list in the present tense as if it has already manifested itself. This really helps me get a clear vision of where my future is going and helps me realize what I want/need. An example of what I’ll write in my future gratitude list is “I am thankful for my successful art business”

Your future list isn’t only for realistic goals but also goals that seem too fantastic to be true. Anything you want in the whole world can be written in your future gratitude so get creative!
