sorry hi if we’re talking about this i need to know what your thoughts on ca: civil war are… (love, a civil war plot hater)
TIME TO DEFEND A MARVEL MOVIE ON MAIN SORRY EVERYONE. Well I think it's the last time any marvel movie presents any sort of interesting conflict- in the mcu man v man is always better than the various monster/alien stuff unless they're done very well, which they are. not- as well as the last time marvel prioritized plot and tension > trying to make the audience laugh. I understand being annoyed with the sokovia accords plot- on some level it IS stupid and pointless and I do think you have to turn part of your brain off while watching bc otherwise both arguments are full of holes, but it's still interesting to me because it's just. So much more self reflective than any other marvel movie I guess? <- guy who loves when fake guys are forced to take responsibility for their actions and it hurts really bad. I'v been #teamcap since day one but both sides have points that are not necessarily right or smart, but introspective enough to make you interested in the argument. It's rare that interpersonal conflict like this has space to breathe in big huge spectacle movies like this so I enjoy it. Sorry for this lapse in judgement everyone. Also I know everyone has made fun of the airport fight for being silly and it IS but I like mcu battles that are goofy fisticuffs + yelling at your buddy while your other buddy puts you in a headlock much more than like. Throwing a car at an alien. Its fun for me. Ok wow that was a lot of words in service of the marvel cinematic universe im gonna have to like scrub bathroom floors with a toothbrush as penance.
Other stuff:
- as much as I hate to admit it the russo brothers know how to direct action and it makes it enjoyable purely on that level; the chase scene w bucky steve and t'challa + the fight after zemo rebrainwashed Bucky + the airport fight (😔 sorry I know) have some great sequences that unfortunately I really like.
- Zemo is a great villain, extremely common daniel brühl slay. The last confrontation with him and t'challa is great
- rip chadwick boseman last good actor in the mcu. He's so fucking good in this like if I was any other person in the cast I would've left the set in shame
- again: last time the jokes are mostly funny and dont overwhelm the emotional impact of the conflict. The bucky and sam bits will ALWAYS get me
- final confrontation. #1: GO BUCKY!!!! I will never not have a ball on this bitch watching that recording... #2: good god I love watching my best friends steve and bucky go sicko mode. GET his ASS. I dont really hate tony but its just fun
- ok. And I know im biased as a stucky 4lyfer. But. #1 your pal your buddy your BUCKY is like burned into my brain. #2 he literally. he literally. he gave up the shield for him!!! he gave up his relationships with half the team for him!!! he gave up his status and power and became an international criminal for him. HE GAVE UP THE SHIELD FOR HIM. Its just an insane movie for stevebucky and I cannot help but admire it for that.
Goobyebye sorry for this. I am allowed one major lapse in judgement per week and this is it

27, 28 with Jason, and 28 with Gwen?
27. What comic book trope do you hate the most?
Fridging. But like, real fridging. The original fridging. The Gail-Simone's-criticism-of-sexist-writing fridging. I hate the fact that the TV Tropes article completely divorces it from its origin and says anybody can he fridged. No, because the point of fridging is that it's sexist writing. I particularly hate what they've done with Gwen Stacy (the original one) because THEY KEEP RE-FRIDGING HER. Did y'all see what they did with Judgement Day? From the deepest recesses of my heart, fuck you Marvel, so fucking much. Anyway read Under the Pink Hood
28. What’s a popular fandom take you disagree with about Jason?
I've said the Pit Rage thing so many times now so let's go somewhere else. He doesn't resent Tim. He never resented Tim. It was always about the fact that Bruce hadn't learned from Jason's death and had put another kid in the costume. While brutal, the intention behind the Titans Tower attack actually isn't that different from Jason trying to convince Mia to stop being Green Arrow's sidekick. He's trying to protect people he sees as children in way over their heads. And honestly? I'm not sure he's wrong. I think sidekicks made a lot of sense when they were first introduced as a vehicle for children to see themselves in comics aimed at them. But comics aren't what they used to be. Not only are a lot of them barely meant for teenagers let alone children, in general the history of sidekicks has been incredibly dark with a lot of them dying or facing other incredible traumatizing events. This is another example of a case where Jason is correct and incorrect at the same time. But let's move on before I spend six hours explaining the intricacies of Jason's role as a foil again
28. What’s a popular fandom take you disagree with about Gwen?
I'm assuming you mean Spider-Gwen because, well, it's me, but forgive me if you meant 616!Gwen (or Gwenpool, I guess?? but that seems unlikely).
Honestly the fandom for Spider-Gwen/Ghost Spider is relatively small and I just haven't seen that many bad takes? Like for the Spiderverse movie it's mostly people shipping her with Miles which I approve of, and the fans of the comics have for the most part read all of her appearances and have very grounded takes on her. I've never seen a bad ship for her I swear. I guess that couple on TikTok that dresses up as Spider-Man!Peter (it's the singing through the MCU guy if you know him) and Spider-Gwen are missing the point, and I actually actively dislike that ship, but I've literally never seen anybody else do it???? Like I guess sometimes she's portrayed as more innocent than she actually is but honestly Gwen-Verse is a worse story for Gwen than any fic or fandom take I've ever seen. Like, good for us, fuck yeah earth-65 fans we're the fucking best

I already knew it before this last episode, but She-Hulk was a miss for me. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t really like it either. I am a Marvel fan, but a critical one.
Let me try to keep my overall thoughts brief, and keep in mind that this is how the show and characters came across to me.
The writing and storytelling was generally sloppy and kinda disjointed.
The only fully formed character was Jen while literally everyone else was a walking stereotype of some sort, and just one dimensional caricatures. Even so, I still didn’t learn all the much about Jen. What I did get was: she’s a lawyer (not a great one either), I think she wants to date but is satisfied with hook-ups I guess, kinda self-centered, honestly a bit dismissive and belittling towards her cousin Bruce, and......????
Clearly part of the story was supposed to showcase Jen coming to terms and peace with living her life as Jen and She-Hulk. To me her “acceptance” wasn’t executed well. Her only inkling to even be a superhero came up in the second to last episode when Matt Murdock, a stranger, told Jen she can do good as a lawyer and as She-Hulk. Until that point, Jen had no interest in being a superhero. She only used She-Hulk to get attention.  Even by the end of the series, and in the last episode, where She-Hulk/Jen says something about being a lawyer and a superhero, I just.... didn’t buy it. The show, to me, did a poor job of convincing me that Jen 1) wants to be a superhero, and 2) is on her way to being a superhero.
She-Hulk never cared or thought about property damage the entire time, nor did she seem to think about the fact that 99.9999% of the people she was confronting are human and easy for her to kill or seriously harm. My favorite example is her throwing a fucking car at Daredevil when she had no clue if he is super-powered or not.
The “pairing” (re: they had a little banter I guess and slept together once) of Daredevil/Matt and Jen didn’t work for me. It felt very contrived and forced. While the actors themselves have some chemistry, that doesn’t make up for the fact that the writing for their characters coming together or whatever, just didn’t work for me. I do not care to see more of them together in the future of the MCU.
The writers really used the fourth wall break in the last episode as a cop out to actually concluding some storylines and the show as a whole in any satisfying way. In some way the fourth wall break of Jen/She-Hulk saying, “No no, let’s do this ending differently” worked for me, but mostly not. Just *sighs* nothing really felt like it mattered.
I also never cared for the show’s constant “men bad” approach.
To reiterate, I don’t hate this show, but I don’t particularly like it either. I also don’t hate Jen, but the show didn’t really endear me to her or She-Hulk despite the actress playing her trying her best. If there’s a second season I don’t know if I’ll watch it. At most I’ll read spoilers about it just to keep up with the MCU overall.
EDIT: I was reading reviews on this show and someone made a great point: She-Hulk/Jen legit got out of criminal charges by demanding to speak with the manager. Holy shit.

yikes... you worshiping male characters regardless of what they do while criticizing jen walters for the few bad aspects of her show that can be attributed to the writers and not her... your blog says everything about why you make it a point to hate watch she-hulk every week and it's incredibly disappointing. i'm not some mcu fan who loves everything they put out, but man, it's tiring seeing people criticize media like she-hulk in bad faith waaaay more than mediocre white male media. oh well :/
This is... actually really funny because you don't always get anon hate that tells on itself so much.
I've been very clear and consistent about specifying that I don't dislike Jen Walters and in fact really like how she's portrayed by Tatiana Maslany. Her performance is the only really worthwhile thing the show has to offer, and it's why I find it so frustrating that they don't really do anything interesting with her. Every post I've made has been about the writing or specific narrative choices or the CGI or something to that effect.
As for me "worshipping male characters", whomst??? I'm not even really sure who this is about, as there's not a single male character I've posted about uncritically on here. Best guess is that this is about Matt Murdock, which like... I drag him constantly for being a shitty person and a crappy friend. I think his narrative arc is incredibly compelling and the Netflix series was really good, but I hope I don't need to explain to you that there's a difference between finding a character's narrative compelling and liking them as a person/co-signing their behavior, especially when you also criticize that behavior.
I think a lot of the criticism for she hulk has been bad faith dude bros whining because a woman was in a marvel thing, and that's dumb bullshit, but you can't lump all criticism in the same boat. My problem with she hulk, which is my problem with a lot of marvel's stories centered around women, is that they market them as though they're some groundbreaking feminist storytelling and then do very little to actually develop the story or characters well and coast on mediocrity that's only made passable by the talented women they cast. It's a huge disservice to the characters and to anyone who actually gives a shit about them. I'm not going to applaud them for crumbs, and if you're going to sell your work on it's "feminist storytelling" then you sure as shit better deliver more than a shallow girl power narrative. It's 2022.

Comparisons to Ragnarok are, of course, impossible to avoid. Taika Waititi is at it again, giving us another colorful explosion in a Thor movie, throwing in numerous laughs and a lot of fun, and some exciting guest appearances. And, I don't know. I guess it's not as great as Ragnarok only because Ragnarok sorta came at you with low expectations - given that the first 2 Thor movies weren't exactly the class of the MCU (though, personally, I really didn't mind them and even kinda/sorta enjoyed them) - whereas this one is coming on the heels of Ragnarok. But, on the other hand, this one is coming at you on the heels of an overall uncertain phase 4 - there's been some hits but also some 'meh,' so not quite sure what to expect going in. And, unlike pretty much everything else recently, this doesn't really connect to anything we've seen since Endgame - none of the movies or the shows of phase 4. Which, maybe, is a nice thing. Its got its own story to tell, and that it does. I really did enjoy it. A lot.
It also, and this is something I found myself thinking during the movie, was a very interesting (timely?) story. You've got a bad guy who, for spoilerific reasons, has decided to end the gods, aided by a powerful sword of some sort. And he's doing his job pretty well.
But like - this idea of humanity being forsaken by the gods who are supposed to be looking out for them, or being cast aside because 'others will follow even if you die,' or prayers are going unanswered, or what not. Like, god has turned his/her/its back on humanity and left them to fend all evil by themselves, despite humanity's prayers and wishes - and, in the movie's dialogue, sacrifices - and, when this man (though, not really a man) comes makes the impossible trek to find a god, god just laughs in his face and tells him he's no better than a number and that him, and the people he loves, and the people that believe in this god, are all irrelevant numbers.
Like, what would someone in that position do? Not that I'm supporting the villians' actions but, much like Thanos in Infinity War/Endgame, you almost start wondering if this villain maybe has a very solid point. Where is this god that we're praying to and believing in as our lives, and the world, completely fall apart under his watch?
The other thing the movie really seems to hone in on is 'love over hate,' best amplified at the end. But like, it's a big theme in this movie - from hilarious start to sad end - and it's a good contrast of things. Humans (and Thor, of course) embody this idea of 'love others' while the other gods (aka, all but Thor) are just like "fuck off."
Jane Foster and, for a scene, Darcy being back was pretty cool and fun. Valkyrie and Korg too. And, for the bit that they're in, the Guardians as well. All brought plenty of laughs, and emotions. And those screaming goats - they were great. Especially when they fly into that shadow world - the time of that scream was just perfect. Seeing Zeus was pretty interesting too, as a non-Marvel person, I didn't realize that they were part of the MCU as well - and I'm interested to see what that sets up (hopefully it will, just like I'm hoping that the post-credits from GotG2 will set up the next GotG movie).
I really enjoyed the fight scenes. And the music. And the acting and characters. And seeing Matt Damon again (uh, spoiler, I guess maybe, though it's clearly just a comedy sequence and nothing vital to the plot).
But yeah, as much as fun as I had -a lot - and as much as I laughed - a lot - this movie really made me think a lot about Christian Bale's character. Like, he's clearly wrong in his actions but his ultimate point - he may be onto something. Humanity, no, the world, deserves better. But hey, I guess once you've been forsaken, you've been forsaken.

You came into the show with the idea of Loki clashing with the TVA already in place. How exactly does this kind of arrangement work at Marvel? Michael Waldron: There was a creative brief that was 20 pages or so that basically said: “We want to do something about Loki running up against the TVA. Here’s some different avenues that might be cool to explore.” It was really serving it up for writers as a jumping off point for us to put together our pitches. Then I went off and really worked on the idea of Loki being brought in to hunt another Loki, and that becoming the heart of the show, and the Loki/Sylvie relationship. The big thing that I did in my pitch — even as early as pitching it to Kevin [Feige] — I really walked through the six episodes, kind of similar to what they were. I knew I wanted Episode 3, for instance, to be a little bit of a Before Sunrise, with Loki and this character walking across this apocalyptic moon. But Marvel had the initial, probably the most important spark of genius, which was just Loki and the TVA.
Where did the idea of the variant being a female Loki come from? That was one of my ideas, that we then confirmed in the writers room. Yeah, we knew from the get-go that it was going to be Loki falling for another version of himself.
Why was that appealing to you? I love writing any romance; it’s fun. Especially, it hasn’t been done a ton in the MCU. There’s an obviously self-reflective quality to it. And a show that’s quite literally about self-love; it is Loki getting to see parts of himself. At the start of the show, he kind of hates himself. He assesses himself to Mobius as a villain. And then he meets Sylvie, and he sees her as someone on a heroic crusade. He sees the good in her, and is able to see the good in himself.
Mobius suggests that, of course, Loki fell in love with his own variant, because he’s a narcissist. Do you think he’d be capable of falling in love with someone who is not a version of himself? [Laughs] I don’t know if he didn’t fall in love with himself first. Maybe after that, but the first time he falls, maybe this is what it had to be.
What’s the key to telling a time travel story that takes advantage of the concept without confusing the audience? I think it’s doing a lot of work that the audience never sees. It’s really understanding the logic of this thing, building out the TVA as a real organization that actually exists in our minds. Our writers room, we had a TVA handbook, encyclopedia, what they do and why they do it, a glossary of terms. And then you want to only give the audience the absolute bare minimum to understand the story, and to just get swept up in the emotional stakes of everything. If the sci-fi of it all, if the time travel logic of this show did not hold up week to week, then that would have distracted from the emotional journeys of the characters. So I’m glad that even though everyone had to take their medicine a little bit, along with Loki, in episode one, I’m glad it didn’t distract from the story we were telling. And we had the benefit of Loki being the audience’s eyes in. The audience is learning as he is.
There’s a funny scene in Avengers: Endgame where the Avengers start arguing about exactly how time travel works in the MCU. How much did you have to study what other Marvel movies had done with the idea to make sure your rules were consistent? Fortunately, Endgame was the main one, and that’s how they understand it. The TVA is an organization that understands time travel on a deeper level, probably more comprehensively than the Avengers do in Endgame. We wanted to make sure we were staying true to any rules that they laid out, but sort of establishing our own rules. It’s a time travel show. What was I thinking? A movie’s one thing, but a show is hard.
How many Loki variants did you have on the writers room whiteboard at various points? Hundreds. So many different Lokis. There was one Loki, actually maybe it was a version of Mobius that took off his glasses, and he just had really tiny eagle eyes, like he could see everything. There was stuff like that all over the white board. Tom Kauffman, who wrote that fifth episode, he’s an amazing comedy writer, and was on the first three seasons of Rick and Morty. His first draft of that episode was just bananas.
Was there a variant, or a crazy idea in general, that you really loved but couldn’t ultimately do? There was so much different stuff that we wanted to do in the Void. But the truth is, I don’t want to say any of it, because you never know. The ideas that I want to do the most may pop up elsewhere.
Okay, so let’s stick with a variant we did see. Was Alligator Loki actually a Loki, or just an alligator that happened to be wearing a Loki’s crown? A magician can’t reveal his tricks, man. That’s the great debate. Let it rage.
What was Alligator Loki‘s origin story on your side of things? Who pitched him and how was that initially received? That was maybe my very first meeting with the producers at Marvel, Kevin Wright and Stephen Broussard, talking about the show, and me saying, “When we’re doing this, you can encounter lots of different Lokis. You could have an alligator Loki. Why? Cause he’s green.” And us all laughing about how stupid that was. I think I made the point that it’s that energy of what we can do with the show. We can have something like that, but let’s play it straight. Alligator Loki, you get a laugh out of it, but by and large you try and play it straight. That was the fun tonal balance that we tried to strike in the show.
There’s been some conflicting information out there about whether the big bad was originally just going to be He Who Remains, who’s a different comics character altogether from Kang, and whether the casting of Jonathan Majors changed the plan. From your point of view, what happened? The character was always written as a version of Kang, as early as the first draft of the script, we knew in the writers room, relatively early on. He Who Remains, that’s the guy behind the curtain with the TVA, and we saw an opportunity to fuse that mythology with the Immortus mythology. And that was just really compelling. It was a way to elevate, it just felt right for Loki, because Loki was there in the first Avengers, he’s the one who brought the Avengers together, and here is directly related to the exploding of the multiverse, this event that will drive the events of Phase Four. Certainly, when Jonathan came in, it allowed us to step on the gas of just how eccentric and charismatic this character could be. I was inspired in the writing of He Who Remains by Tom Cruise’s character in Magnolia, trying to give it that Frank TJ Mackey energy a little bit. He captures that and then elevates it to something else that’s different and weird.
You just said how important the multiverse is going to be to Phase Four of the MCU. How challenging is it to have to set up this big thing for the larger Marvel endeavor while also serving the needs of the particular story you’re telling on this show? It’s a challenge in the sense that it’s all a relay race, and you’ve got the baton on this thing, and you want to do a great job. The name of the game over at Marvel is with each movie or TV show, make it the best it can possibly be. And they’re really supportive of that, and trust that it will organically fit into the larger blueprint of everything. We were excited about introducing a version of Kang, because yeah, to introduce this new big bad was cool for our show. I was aware, and cautious, of the thing I read in your review, that it might not be the most sound storytelling to introduce a new character at the very end that we’ve never seen before as the big bad of this thing. Obviously, we had the benefit that people know who Kang is, and there’s a meta thing where a portion of the audience knows Jonathan Majors is going to be playing Kang in Phase Four. But the finale was only ever going to work if He Who Remains, in a compelling way, serviced the Loki and Sylvie emotional story. That was the most important job that that character did in the finale: he laid out a very compelling conflict that ultimately drove the two of them apart.
There has also been some confusion as to exactly when you knew that there would be a second season, as opposed to you just making a limited series. Initially, in the writers room, we were not operating as though there would be a second season. And the whole way through was, this should be a story that should stand on its own. I referenced The Leftovers and Mad Men all the time. I think about those seasons, they pushed the overall stories forward, but you can pull any one of those seasons and look at it on its own as an individual story. I wanted that to be the case here, whether we did a second season or not. I think we always felt that we would want to propel Loki forward into the MCU after the conclusion of our season. The only question was, would that be in an appearance in a movie, or would that be in a second season. And it was only over the course of development that the stars aligned to make a second season.
But that end scene, where Mobius no longer recognizes Loki and the TVA is filled with Kang statues, wouldn’t have been a satisfying conclusion to a limited series. That is an ending that only works if there’s going to be a second season. So there is another conclusion to the story that I wrote that exists out there, that I guess is just for me. My own little play, that I perform with my action figures.
What was Sylvie’s original plan, before Loki hijacked her to that dying moon? It was to empty out the TVA. The entire bombing of the Sacred Timeline was to create a diversion. She’s not going to be able to create a multiverse from doing that. Ultimately, the TVA has the manpower to get out and take care of these events, but they’re going to have to scramble a lot of their minutemen teams, and it leaves the Time-Keepers significantly less guarded than they would have been otherwise. That was her plan.
You didn’t come into this as a big comic book nerd. So was there someone on staff who could tell you, “Well, there’s this giant cloud called Alioth that eats time,” or, “Well, one time Thanos had a helicopter,” or maybe someone assigned to you by Marvel? I’m constantly reading the comics but trying to not be so beholden to the and do our own thing. I charged our writers assistant, Ryan Kohler, with, “You’ve got to become the authority on all things TVA, all things Kang, and all that.” So he and my assistant, Sophie Miller, became a support staff who read a ton of these comics and became a wealth of knowledge for the writers to turn to. And then the Marvel producers, obviously are very well versed in the comics. It was Kevin Wright who came in one day and was like somebody throwing down a blueprint in an asteroid movie, going, “Alioth! Look at this!” And we were like, “Ohmigod, this is perfect!” The best thing about working on these comic book shows is that if it’s from the comics, it doesn’t matter how much of a deus ex machina it is, it’s just cool, like, “I can’t believe you pulled that from the comics.” Alioth, that was a big breakthrough that unlocked the last two episodes for us.
That is not a famous comic book that introduces Alioth. It’s an obscure Nineties miniseries, with really ugly art. But you look at it and see what it could be. You say, “If we do this, and it feels like Twister, it’s going to be really cool.”
Was Mobius’ love of jet skis there simply to illustrate his character, or did you have a grander idea in mind? I will come clean: I’m a jet ski guy. I’ve spent a good amount of time on jet skis in my day. I used to tow a jet ski to a lake and ride it in college. So it probably was me. Loki, I was just becoming a steward of that character. Mobius was a character I really felt I got to create from nothing. There’s not really anything to that character in the comics. So bits and pieces of me found their way in. I just think there’s something so poignant — here Mobius is, a guy who is literally fighting to preserve all of time in the multiverse, and yet his interests are maybe the most humble, human, terrestrial, unremarkable thing you can think of. Just a jet ski. And when you’ve got Owen Wilson playing him and it’s just that much better.
Will you be back in some capacity for Season Two? [long pause] Time will tell.

“Harley,” you whispered.
He stood awkwardly by the door, his vicinity forcing the sensors to keep it open.
“Hi Y/N,” he spoke in a voice that didn’t bring you warmth or joy like it would have in the past.
“How are you feeling?” Your voice was neutral even if there was the slightest bit of sting in the back of your eyes.
He looked alright as far as you could tell, perhaps a bit thin but no outstanding injuries. You wouldn’t admit it but you were relived at that.
“Fine, thanks. What about you?”
You held up your bandaged palms, “I’ll live.”
The tension in the air was suffocating as neither of you wanted to speak, you barely knew what to say.
“I’m so sorry,” Harley spoke up first.
You clenched your jaw, you knew he wasn’t talking about the cheating. Your next words were spoken between your teeth.
“It wasn’t your fault. No one knew that would happen,” you told him.
“But it was! I—“ he cut himself off at the realization that he was raising his voice and the door was still open.
“The girl that I was ... with,” he paused and the stinging in your eyes intensified, “she was HYDRA. They sent her to get more information on you and the Avengers and it worked. I even — I showed her your — our — experiment 87-16. I didn’t know about her until they took me though, I swear.”
For the second time that day you were stunned into silence, eyes wide and unable to respond. You didn’t know what to say to him or even what you wanted to say. You couldn’t think, your body got out of the bed and walked towards him on its own. Your hand balled into a fist of its own accord and landed a perfect blow on Harley’a jaw and the sound was music to your ears. Natasha would have been proud.
Harley recoiled and held his face, “Shit Y/N. Well I guess I deserved that.”
He guessed — GUESSED. He deserved that and so much more. It took everything in you to not hit him again. After all you were the one in bandages.
“Oh you think!? What the hell is wrong with you Harley!? Cheating on me wasn’t enough for you!? You had to go and share one of our most private things with a girl who was using you,” your voice got louder with every word, refusing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
“It was after you stopped taking my calls and she kind of just walked in when I was trying one of the experiments out on myself.”
“So it’s my fault? Just because I put up a wall to get over my heart break that doesn’t mean you tell her everything! God I knew you were dumb but I didn’t know you were an idiot. They almost killed me!” You were yelling but you couldn’t bring yourself to care.
“I know and you don’t know how sorry I am,” he pleaded and you could feel your skin growing hotter beneath the surface, a feeling you had missed.
“Sorry?! Now you’re sorry?! How dare you even show your face in front of me I --” your voice broke slightly with the next words, “I lost a piece of my soul because of you.”
Harley’s expression became shocked at this new information, no one had known about this yet.
“This whole time I’ve been beating myself up trying to think how they could get through all those firewalls and encryptions I put up and it turns out the one person I used to trust more than anyone in this world just gave them a key,” this time you couldn’t help the tear that slipped out but you swiped it away quickly.
You were tired again, your thoughts swirling, “Please leave, Harley,” you turned around and began slowly walking towards your bed.
“Y/N listen to me please I —“
“GO!” You screamed and blue flames danced angrily out of your fingertips.
You didn’t turn around as he left and the door slid closed, flames retreating beneath your skin. You laid down on your back and closed your eyes. Hearing the door slide open once again only served to annoy you, you didn’t even bother to look up.
“Go away, Harley. We’re done talking.”
“Ouch, I’d hate to be him right now,” Peter spoke and you shot upright watching as the young man walked towards you, your favorite snacks in hand.
“Peter, I missed you,” you told him wrapping him up in a hug. He squeezed you tight in his strong arms.
“I missed you more. You want to talk about whatever it is that happened with Harley?”
“We’re you eavesdropping Peter Parker?” You gasped dramatically.
“Well when your girlfriend’s asshole ex shows up it’s best to stand aside when you know she can hold her own,” he sat beside you handing you the snacks.
“Damn right I can,” you smirked and he lifted you as if you were weightless and placed you in his lap.
You giggled, “I see someone has been keeping up with his workouts.”
“Oh yeah after a certain someone said they kick my ass while injured how could I neglect them?” He laughed into your neck before planting a kiss there.
“Trust me if you would have seen that punch you’d believe it,” you said
“You’ve hit me more than enough during training that I already know,” you could hear the smile in his voice and relaxed further into his chest.
You placed the snacks on the bedside table and held the arms wrapped around your middle and closed your eyes.
“I’m so tired Peter. I just want all of this to be over, I’m tired of thinking about it,” you confessed. Your body was heavy with exhaustion and all you wanted to do was get better and back to your semi-normal life.
Peter squeezed you lightly and kissed your head, “I know baby, but it won’t be like this forever. Just give it time,” he said and you nodded still keeping your eyes closed.
“God you’re so good to me,” you told him.
“I could be even better,” Peter replied huskily in your ear.
Your breath caught in your throat and your eyes shot open as he kissed your neck again but this time it was slower and less playful. You reached a hand up to tangle into his dark locks as he began leaving small bruises and pushed curls aside to give himself better access.
“Peter,” you spoke breathlessly.
“Y/N,” hummed against your deep skin, the feeling sent a chill deep into your bones. He stopped in favor of looking into your eyes lovingly. You were quick to connect his lips with your own and just as effortlessly as he had put you in his lap he flipped you around so you could straddle him.
At this angle, the kiss only deepened and your hands continued their assault on his once perfect hair. Peter gripped you around the waist with one arm while allowing the other to snake beneath the stolen t-shirt you wore and up your back, there seemed excitement in his movements at the absence of a bra.
The feeling of his hand against your bare skin only enticed you more as you moved your hands to his face in an effort to bring him impossibly closer to you. Seeming to get the message, he laid back on the bed pressing your chests together.
Your hips moved of their own accord against his and you wanted nothing more than to keep going but he pushed back slightly, releasing your lips.
“Y/N,” he spoke, and you leaned your forehead against his, “I think you forgot you’re still technically in recovery my love.”
Though the nickname made your heart flutter you groaned and sat up, Peter’s hands fell to your waist.
“Peter come on~” you whined, “These bandages are basically for show at this point.”
“And until you’re finished with your cosplay we’re not going any further,” he smiled up at you as if he was delighted with himself.
“Gosh you’re so responsible,” you crossed your arms and pouted slightly.
Peter sat up and took your arms so they wrapped around his neck instead, “And that’s they call me the friendly neighborhood Spiderman,” he tapped your nose and you couldn’t help but laugh.
“Fine, we’ll do it your way,” you rolled your eyes and brought him in for another soft kiss.
“Good, now how about we watch a movie? I brought my laptop,” he asked.
“Only if I get to pick,” you smiled.
“Oh but of course.”

Natalie Holt implying that Loki slept with Sif before cutting off her hair honestly makes my blood boil. The first Thor movie showed us a sympathetic character that was an outcast in Asgard, and a scapegoat in his family. Everything now just seems like Marvel trying to take all of that away. So many people are saying, "Well, now I know why Sif doesn't like him, lol!" And that is exactly as intended. We are supposed to see Loki as an ass and everyone else as a saint for putting up with him. :(
I'm just really baffled at how it's either a) supposed to make sense, or b) explain anything about their dynamic?
Like, okay, let's assume that they do hate each other bc they slept together. Why would that be? Even if you catch feelings and get rejected, that's not really justification to hate someone. Ideally you'd just go your own separate ways but since Loki and Sif shared a social circle, that probably wasn't an option, in which case the next best thing is to just be civil while you move on/get over the feelings. No hatred necessary, and certainly not for centuries.
I don't believe that either of them is stubborn enough to harbor a grudge over being rejected. Sif bc I wouldn't believe that she caught feelings for Loki anyway, and Loki bc while he would certainly be hurt, and his pride would be wounded, I just don't see him holding onto that for longer than it would take for him to move past it.
And where is the hair-cutting supposed to come in? Are we implying here that Loki is so childish and petty that he cut off Sif's hair in retaliation for her not returning his feelings? (Seeing it written down like that, I am guessing this is exactly the implication, bc of course it is, smh.) Was he 12 when they fucked, or ??
So here's the thing, though. You pointed out that the first Thor movie showed us a sympathetic character who was an outcast and a scapegoat but no, actually, it didn't. Thor 1 showed us a jealous, vindictive loner turned villain. That's the problem - the MCU isn't taking anything away as much as they're trying to re-establish the characterization they intended for him to have all along.
Thor 1 left things out that would provide more context to Loki's motivations. Thor 1 actively deleted scenes that showed Loki as sympathetic. Thor 1 set up a "good brother vs evil brother" black-and-white dichotomy between Thor and Loki, in which the narrative and the supporting characters all behaved as though Loki was innately the evil brother and there wasn't even a question about that. Thor 1 was Thor's movie, and while I obviously have no problem with that, it being Thor's movie means that to a lot of the audience, Loki was never going to be perceived as sympathetic. In order to make Thor the hero of his story, Loki has to be the villain and most people just accept that at face-value.
Is Loki sympathetic? Yes. Was he an outcast in his society and a scapegoat in his family? Yes. Was he evil at heart? No. Did he do bad things? Yes. Did he intend for them to turn out as terribly as they did? No. Etc.
These are all things that a lot of us know because we've taken the time to know them. One needs to be interested/invested enough in Loki to make the effort of interpreting his motivations and his characterization but, that said, having a vested enough interest in Loki to be an active fan doesn't necessarily mean interpreting him sympathetically. There's this weird divide and things that seem obvious in hindsight, such as Loki's sympathy as a character or the nuances of what he was really trying to achieve in Thor 1, are things that a lot of the audience + his fandom either don't pick up on or don't care to see.
There's a reason 2011-13 Loki isn't as popular as Ragnarok Loki. There's a reason there are so. many. posts. in this fandom that start off with "I love Loki, but -" and then proceed to drag him. There's a reason why a lot of his fans are like "lol I mean he did murder all those people though?" or why the "you just like Loki/apologize for Loki bc you want to fuck Tom" argument is so prevalent. There's a reason why headcanons like "Loki just fucked his way into the GM's inner circle" are treated as canon, or why nobody questions whether or not it actually made sense for Loki to randomly betray Thor right before the obedience disk scene.
The reason is that Thor 1 didn't show us who Loki really was, and because of his portrayal in that movie and in Avengers (subtext and word-of-god confirmation is clearly insufficient for the wider audience to realize that Loki wasn't acting of his own accord - no, he's just evil), there are very many fans who are just never going to see him as anything besides villainous at worst or "a fun but greasy little shit" at best, who causes trouble and does shitty things for the lulz.
"Loki cut Sif's hair for no other reason than to be a dick after they fucked" falls perfectly in line with that characterization, and the result is that you get tons of fans who are like "LOL that's SO Loki!" or "No wonder Sif hates him!" etc. And if, in 2021, ten years after Loki was introduced into the MCU, people are still coming away from his narrative arc + his own series believing that he is, or ever was, just a rotten little shit who caused trouble for the lulz? Then that is clearly the Loki that they see, that they stan, and that means whatever he means to them, and regardless of how our portion of the fandom may object and cry foul, there's honestly just nothing we can do about it.
So, I mean, there we are. People can feel however they want about Loki. It is what it is. And I think I'm just tired of getting upset about it. Re Loki/Sif, I will share my opinion that it's a trash headcanon and laugh at it, but I'm tired of allowing myself to get genuinely upset about how other people perceive this character, especially when there's nothing I can do about it and the only person who ends up suffering is me when my mental health spirals downward (bc I care way too much about fiction and I have no problem admitting it).
I didn't intend for this to be so long, and obviously this is not any kind of rebuttal against you or your ask personally, anon. It just gave me an opportunity to put into words what I've been feeling for quite awhile. It is what it is.
I also feel it's worth mentioning, again, that I think Natalie's soundtrack is absolute fire and I have nothing but respect for her as the composer in this series, but I do not think that earns her any merit in how she perceives these characters. Loki/Sif is her headcanon, and she also said that Loki looks at Sylvie the way he looks at his mother, which is like, and how do you think he's looking at his mother, Nat? Cause uh. I don't think they are the same. I know most people won't agree, but I feel like her words need to be taken with a grain of salt and not accepted as canon based on nothing more than her position of being someone who worked on the show.
I should put this behind a cut, but meh. Also, I know a lot of people reblogged/added onto my Loki/Sif post from last night and I was going to engage but I just don't have time, so please accept this as my general response + stance on the entire clusterfuck.

Is There Something There - Tom Holland
During an interview that you were doing with Tom for Endgame press, some of the questions catch you both off guard and one leads to you two talking about something you’ve both been feeling about each other.
A/N: I’m going to be honest. I don’t really like this one because I already feel like I use a lot of dialogue as a writer and this is an interview so there is a lot of dialogue, but I also like the story here so that why I decided to post it. Also, it’s my first Tom fic so I hope you all enjoy and feedback is greatly appreciated!
Warnings: some curse words
Word Count: 4.1k+
--------------------------------------------------
“I can’t believe you didn’t know who Obadiah Stane was,” you giggled with Tom as you two left the room you had just been in doing an interview to head to another one in a few minutes.
“He asked what an Obadiah Stane was, so I thought it was a thing, not a person,” he defended, his smile stretching as his words brought you more laughter.
“I’m sure Robert would love to know that his little buddy didn’t even know the name of the villain in the first Iron Man movie,” you teased Tom while he chuckled along with you. “But I will give you the infinity stones question. All I could remember was the reality stone and the time stone, but you rattled off the first five in a matter of seconds and then the last one came to your mind shortly after. It was impressive.”
“Thank you, thank you,” he stated sarcastically with a bow and a tip of his head. “You know what was funny? When you said Sebastian would be a bad baby name. That was hilarious,” he brought up before dying of laughter again at the joke you made earlier in the interview.
“Yeah, and I can guarantee you that he said my name too when they asked him which MCU name would be the worst as well,” you told him while laughing along with him.
“This is it I think,” the man who had been leading you to your next interview announced to you both before opening the door.
“Ladies first,” Tom said to you while holding a hand out to show you the way. You playfully rolled your eyes at the dork you had been paired with for the day as you walked into the room.
It was no secret that Tom Holland could not keep his mouth shut when he needed to. He just gets too excited and has to tell someone. He along with Ruffalo were terrible secret keepers and when it came to interviews, they had to do them with someone who could pay attention to them and catch them before they slip up. Benedict got paired with Mark and you obviously were with Tom.
“Good morning you two! I imagine you both have been very busy today,” the woman who would be conducting the interview asked when you and Tom walked over to her and got settled in your spots on the couch after you each shook her hand.
“Yes ma’am, we have been busy, but it has been loads of fun I would say,” Tom responded first while he got comfortable on the couch and stretched his arm to lay against the back of it before you nodded your head in agreement at his previous statement.
“Super fun especially since we get to do it together,” you spoke to the lady before meeting the dashing brown eyes of your partner for the day.
“She’s just saying that because she has to be with me. She actually hates me,” Tom teased while you rolled your eyes at him.
“I do not hate him. Does he get a little aggravating from time to time? Yeah, but I don’t hate him,” you played along with the boy’s joke as he chuckled lightly at you.
“Wait, y/n has to be with you, Tom?” the interviewer inquired, her eyebrows drawing together in confusion as to why you were forced to be with him. She probably thought it was a little weird that you, the actress who plays Guardian of the Galaxy Willa Adler, and Tom, the actor of Peter Parker who was also known as Spider-Man, were doing press for Endgame together. If she saw Infinity War, she knew you were both onscreen together a good bit in that movie, but still she most likely was wondering why you were not doing interviews with Chris Pratt like you normally were since he played your older brother figure in the past few Marvel films you have done.
“Well, yeah, someone has to be with me because I can’t keep my mouth shut and y/n is good at telling when I’m about to say something I shouldn’t, so she is here to help me not spill the beans on anything,” Tom laughed while a slight blush of embarrassment dusted across his cheeks.
“Yeah, I have been told I’m good at reading people and we’ve become really good friends lately, so I guess I better at reading him than some of the others. I don’t know. I think it’s funny that he has to be with someone, or he’ll spill all the information on everything,” you giggled as you responded to the question too.
“Oh well, I guess it’s good you two have been paired together and later on I’ll have some questions specifically for the both of you. Anyway, I spoke with Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan and that pair,” she paused for a chuckle, “They like to tease you two, don’t they?” As soon as she mentioned their names, you both knew where the question was headed and you and Tom both nodded towards the woman.
“Yeah, we have quite the rivalry with those two, don’t we?” Tom led the answer for you to continue.
“Yes, but it’s all out of love,” you reassured the interviewer while you all shared a laugh.
“It’s all love, for sure. I think it’s because we are the youngest and easiest to pick on because we take the jokes well and we’ll shoot them right back. I find it funny how it's them against us. We will tease them and they’ll tease us, but at the same time, we split it up and it’ll be me and Mackie going at each other, and y/n and Stan will pick on each other quite a bit. It’s like the big brothers teasing their younger siblings and they each have their favorite one to pick on. I love it. I find it so hilarious,” Tom told the woman, a chuckle falling past his lips.
“Especially the juice box joke,” you laughed. “That one is my favorite.”
“Juice box joke?” she asked, her emerald eyes dancing between you and Tom while you both wore huge smiles on your faces from all the laughing you both had been doing.
“Yeah, Mackie likes to joke and say that ‘I need my juice boxes or I’ll go crazy without them’ that I need the sugar or something,” Tom expressed using air quotes with his fingers to show Anthony’s words. “They say I need juice boxes and y/n needs water bottles.”
“Why’s that?” the lady quizzed at the second part of his sentence as a light laugh escaped her mouth. You audibly groaned, knowing which story was about to come up next.
“She forgets to drink water sometimes and then she’ll get dehydrated and when we’re shooting harder scenes or if there’s a lot of light on her and it gets hot, then it doesn’t end well,” Tom told the interviewer honestly before she looked to you to continue or confirm his statements.
“It was one time and I just forget to drink water sometimes. I’m okay,” you reassured before taking a sip of water from the glass next to you.
“One time?” the blonde woman inquired further. You loved doing these interviews, but at times the people conducting them tended to be a little pushy and don’t pick up on the hint that you don’t want to share this story. You knew she wasn’t going to give so you spoke.
“Tell the story, Tom,” you instructed with a sigh before turning in your chair to face him better. His hand still rested on the back of the couch behind you and he brought it down slightly to rub at the top of your back and play with your hair a little, a friendly and comforting gesture that you were very thankful for at the moment as he was about to share one of your more embarrassing experiences.
“Okay, so you know that scene in Infinity War where the Guardians, Strange, Tony, and I are in that spaceship and the Guardians are coming at us because they think we’re with Thanos?” When she nods her head, Tom continues with the story.
“Well, that particular day, y/n forgot to drink basically anything and in the makeup and suits and stuff, it gets really hot. It’s the scene where Willa has Peter Parker in a chokehold and Peter Quill has a gun to my head. So, when we were shooting that, y/n has her arms around my neck, not tightly obviously. She’s not actually trying to choke me, but you can feel it, you know. So, as I said, she wasn’t holding me tightly, but I felt her arms loosen from around me before she was supposed to, and she leaned against me a little.” The interviewer let out a slight gasp before looking at you and you nodded towards her, letting her know his words were true.
“I turned my head and asked her if she was okay, but she just nodded her head. She didn’t say anything, just nodded her head, and right then I knew something was wrong just by looking at her. I turned around and grabbed her before she fell and sat down with her. Chris came as well and was checking on her while Benedict and Robert went to get help and some water. But we got her some water, and she was good to go shortly after.”
“That must’ve been scary for the both of you,” she commented while her widened eyes jumped from yours to the set of honey brown ones to your left.
“It was honestly one of the scariest days on set for me,” Tom added before looking to you, his fingers still switching from rubbing small circles into your neck and twirling your hair between them.
“I was in and out of it, so I don’t remember much. All I remember is leaning against him and him helping me down. It was more embarrassing to me and I hate thinking about it, but now I will never get to forget about it because Anthony and Seb won’t ever let me live it down,” you told the woman with a small laugh which she joined in on along with Tom.
“Your characters both have this relationship with someone older than you that you look up to, Peter Parker with Tony Stark and Willa Adler with Peter Quill. How was it for you both to do your death scene in Infinity War with those people?” she asked you and Tom. Tom looked to you for you to start off the question so you do.
“Both Willa and Peter have had it rough as far as a mentor or someone who can really help guide them in life because they keep losing them. Peter lost his parents when he was younger, then his uncle, and then he disintegrates in Tony’s arms. Willa lost a lot of people in a short amount of time. Quill and Willa were both taken by Yondu at different times for their own good to save them from their terrible fathers, so she didn’t have anyone to look up to on Earth. Then she lost Yondu and feared she lost Quill when things with Ego went down. Then in Infinity War when they are all trying to take the gauntlet off Thanos, she finds out that she lost Gamora, the only girl Willa has ever had by her side, so that breaks her even further. Then after the snap, she watches all of her found family turn to dust around her. She watches Quill turn to ashes right before she can get to him and then she tries to run to Nebula who is the only person she has left before she goes with the rest of them. Right after that, we watch Peter and Tony hold each other and Peter goes so the scene overall is a terribly sad one. It took a lot of emotion for both of us I think.”
“Yeah, like she said, both of them have experienced great loss. Peter is a little more used to it while Willa loses someone before she’s done grieving the last person she lost. She definitely had to put a lot more emotion into it, but Willa is also the kind of person who holds her emotions in. You can see in that scene she was talking about, Willa tried to hold it in when she found out about Gamora but started to break down as she saw everyone she loved dissipate into nothing. Peter was emotional of course and he didn’t want to go like he just saw everyone around him do but at least he went out in the arms of someone he loves and looks up to a lot,” Tom added to your explanation with his own.
“I would say that scene after the snap with you two is the saddest in my opinion. So, to lighten the mood a little, there is a lot of talk about the family feel that the cast has, and the people wanted to know if that is true?” she asked as she flipped through her cards.
“Yes!” you immediately agreed.
“Of course, we all get along and it is super fun especially in films like these where we get to be together. Peter got to be with Iron Man, Doctor Strange, and the Guardians of the Galaxy and it was amazing filming with everybody. I loved it, didn’t you?” Tom pushed the question over to you.
“Yeah, it was super fun. I always get to film with a large group of people, but I got to film with Chris Hemsworth and then later on with RDJ and Benedict and Tom. It was great to work with so many amazing people,” you commented while you shifted in your seat a little, trying to get comfortable again.
“Mackie and Stan are like our annoying older brothers as I said earlier,” Tom mentioned with a light chuckle.
“Yeah,” you giggled before continuing with his analogy. “RDJ, Evans, and Hemsworth are like the fathers, the founding fathers really since they’ve been there since the beginning. Umm, Pratt and Rudd are the funny uncles. Elizabeth, Zoe, Karen, Scarlett, and Danai are the cool aunts. And then you’ve got people like Benedict, Chadwick, Pom, Letitia, and Tom who are absolute sweethearts. Everyone is just super cool and fun and sweet, and we couldn’t ask for a better group of people to work with.” The lady awed at your words while Tom’s eyes softened at them.
“That was really sweet, y/n, and you are amazing to work with as well,” he grinned as he spoke which you returned him on as well while you nodded at him. His hand shifted down to your shoulder and he kept it there, something you didn’t mind at all. “Everything she said was spot on and everyone we get the opportunity to work with is awesome and they’re great people. I couldn’t have said it better myself.”
“Do you think your characters will appear onscreen together in the future?” the interviewer questioned before she looked up from her card to the both of you.
“Um, I’ll take this one,” you said to both of them, but mainly to Tom so he knew he wouldn’t have to add anything or spoil anything without knowing it. “So, Peter normally protects Queens, and Willa’s territory is all of outer space. In Infinity War, you saw that Peter’s experience in space wasn’t the best and Willa had a terrible life on Earth though she didn’t know it at the time because she was so young when Yondu took her. I don’t see them crossing paths again in the future if everything gets ‘fixed’ like everyone is hoping for, but if another space titan comes to destroy half of all living things or something big like that, then yeah maybe you’d see Willa and Peter onscreen again, but I don’t think it is likely,” you told the woman as she nodded her head.
“Marvel is full of surprises though, so you never know what is going to happen,” Tom added, earning a laugh from you since you knew firsthand how true the statement was.
“The fans love seeing you two together and you both clearly have good chemistry so what is it like working with one another?” the blonde asked before pushing some fallen hair behind her ear.
“I’ll go first,” Tom stated as he turned a bit in his seat and smiled your way. You playfully rolled your eyes, getting ready for him to completely roast your ass.
“She’s mean, a total diva, a drama queen,” he started listing off several false claims before busting out laughing at your pouting face. “I’m kidding,” he chuckled while he leaned over to grab your chin, forcing you to look at him.
“No, go on. I’m thinking about teaming up with Mackie and Seb and all three of us can rip you to shreds,” you sarcastically smiled at him before you dropped the grin and shot him a death glare.
“Okay maybe I wasn’t lying about the mean part,” he joked causing you to smile again. His brown eyes lit up at the sight and he finally continued with answering the question.
“No, but for real, she is amazing, as a person and as an actress. Every time I watch her, I am reminded of how phenomenal of an actress she is. You all have seen the gag reels of me and how I can’t keep a straight face if my life depended on it, but I watched her and the person she was filming with slipped up. She kept a straight face until they started laughing so she started laughing too. If that was me, I would’ve started laughing before anyone even messed up. And even when she’s feeling poorly, she performs so well. Y/n is so incredible to watch and work with. She is truly a great person and an even better friend. I’m glad we have each other to lean on when we get teased for being the youngest out of everyone,” he chuckled after literally just melting your heart. You leaned over to wrap your arms around his torso, his arm going around your back to rest his hand on your side.
“That was really sweet, Tom,” you whispered while giving him a little squeeze before pulling away from him. He did not remove his arm from around you though, so you scooted closer to make it more comfortable for you both.
“He may say my acting is good, but I’ve got to brag on his as well. He is so good at improvising and going with the flow of things. I am a very ‘follow the lines and stick to the script’ kind of person, but his improv makes his scenes and character so much better. That may be because he is basically Peter Parker in real life so when the cameras are rolling, it is truly interesting to see. He lights up any room he walks into and makes every day easier when we are working. He is a delight to work with and just generally be around and I’m glad we’re friends.”
“Thanks y/n,” he grinned down at you and you smiled right back.
“How is he like Peter Parker in real life?” the woman further inquired as she adjusted herself in her seat to sit more comfortably.
“For one, he is a major dork,” you started before snickering at Tom’s furrowed brows and stuck out lip.
“You just said all that nice stuff and then called me a dork,” he huffed and turned his head from you. He dramatically removed his arm from around and placed his hand in his lap.
“Oh, come on. You know it’s true,” you told him to which he sighed.
“Yeah, it’s true,” he gave in before nodding at the interviewer.
“So, there’s that,” you continued to answer the question. “He’s a little awkward, but in a charming and lovable way. He cannot keep a secret at all. There’s probably more, but that’s all I can think of right now. Everybody loves Peter Parker and everyone loves Tom Holland. I mean it when I say they are the same person.”
“So, there is a good bit of speculation of a budding romance between the both of you and the people want to know if there is something there,” she stated before playing with the rings on her fingers.
Before you could open your mouth to deny the suspicion, Tom grabbed your hand in his, interlacing his fingers with yours. A blush crept up on your cheeks when he placed his lips against the back of your hand.
“Do you want to tell her, babe?” he asked as he shot you a wink, the small act telling you it was a joke. The growing grin on his face told you his actions were false as well, but you couldn’t help how your heart fell that it was all a lie. You once again rolled your eyes at the boy who held your hand.
“You can tell her, sweetheart,” you giggled while Tom held your hand in both of his and you leaned your head on his shoulder.
“Y/n and I have been in a relationship for a little while now and that relationship has been completely platonic and we are just friends,” he laughed as he placed your hand back in your own lap. You would be lying to yourself if you said you didn’t miss the feeling of his hand in yours, but now was not the time to think about that.
“Yeah guys, we’re only friends,” you chuckled, making eye contact with the camera that was filming the whole thing while you lifted your head from its previous resting place on his shoulder. “Nothing more.”
Later after the interview, you and Tom are walking to the car that was going to take you both back to your hotel and the events of earlier kept circling through your mind. The way it felt to have his arm around you and you leaning into his side. You craved that feeling. His hand in yours and his lips pressed to the back of it. You wanted more of that. Just being with him, you strived to have more moments with him, but you always thought that it was because you were really good friends and you liked having his presence near. However, you feared that you were into something more that he was not going to be interested in.
“You did good with the whole dating joke. That was funny,” you giggled lightly as you bumped his shoulder while walking by his side.
“Hopefully, you didn’t think it was too funny,” he mumbled, his own eyes widening at his slight confession. Your eyebrows drew together in confusion and your feet stopped moving forward.
“What?” you spoke the only word that was running through your mind at the moment. Tom stopped walking as well and turned to face you.
“I kinda liked holding your hand and I kinda like you,” he stated sheepishly, his gorgeous brown eyes looking everywhere but at you.
“What are you saying, Tom?” you asked, knowing exactly what he was saying but you wanted to be sure. He stepped forward a bit and took your hand in his, interlocking your fingers just as he did before.
“I’m saying that I like you, y/n, and I want to be with you. We can just try it out for a little bit?” he asked more than stated.
“You mean we can try out being together?”
“Yeah, we can keep it quiet until we’re sure and then if you want, we can go public with it. I was not lying when I said I love working with you. It wasn’t because you’re great to work with because you are. It was because you are great to be with. So maybe we try this out and see how things work with us while we do press and see how things work after this when we are separate and doing our own thing. We can go from there and see if this is something we want to continue or announce?” he questioned nervously while his eyes finally locked with yours. The corners of your mouth turned upwards in a huge grin, happy to be hearing what you had wished to hear for a while now.
“I’d love to be with you, Tom,” you gushed, grinning ear to ear.
“Well, that’s great, babe,” he chuckled after using the nickname he called you earlier. His other hand slid around your waist, pulling you closer to him. You felt his breath fan over your lips before he closed the space between you two.
“But you know that Mackie and Seb are going to pick on us about this too right?” you reminded him when you pulled away slightly and he giggled.
“Yeah, we’re never going to hear the end of it.”

Warning: a lot of text
Okay. I know it took me a long time to post about this, but I wanted to organize my thoughts well. I don't like to be writing with my head hot, angry, disappointed, frustrated and sad. Waiting to not have those feelings I was never going to write this. With that cleared up let's talk about "What If?"
To say I wasn't expecting Sharon to be treated badly again would be lying. I was surprised that she showed up and relatively everything was fine (until she was killed obviously). I'm not going to lie it gave me hope, but what surprised me were the writer's words saying that he killed Sharon because he likes Steggy and that he wanted to give her a more grotesque death that Sharon had "Because Steve is Peggy's."
I will admit that I moved a little further away from the UCM series and its projects after "The Falcon and The Winter Soldier" Sharon was damaged and harmed again by making her a villain, the writer threw away the work that Emily had done saying that Sharon's moral code was too strong. Not to mention, Sharon has never and never been a villain at will (when she "killed" Steve in Civil War Sharon was under Faust's control) and the power broker is another character in the comics.
Again I walked away a bit more after watching the BlackWidow movie because we never saw that funeral that Nastasha deserved, just a grave with flowers left by people. We never got to see a funeral like Tony's or Yondu's, not even in her movie did they take the time to give her that moment.
I confess I was just reading the synopsis and watching summaries of the series. I watched the Zombie episode because a friend told me "you will be pleasantly surprised and heartbroken at the same time''. So I made the decision to give "What if?" a chance.
Everything was going well, more than well because I was watching Sharon (I almost died of happiness), I see Happy's death and Sharon apologizing and I got sad, but it was going more or less well.... Until I see how Okoye kills Sam, she apologizes to Bucky for killing him and the only thing she replies is something like she's not sad about it...
WTF!!!!  The chapter is set between civil war and infinity war, Sam at that point had already risked his freedom and his life for Bucky. Bucky makes that comment so out of place, cold and ungrateful after Sam helped save him.
I keep watching because I thought it couldn't get any worse HA, HA, HA I'm such a fool for thinking that.
After a while I notice Sharon in the last car of the train, and what goes through my mind is, "Why is she alone in the last car if she only has Tony's glove and not the gun?". She heard the blow and immediately already knew the worst was yet to come, it was all downhill from there.
It is Steve who kills her. At the time I think it's kind of poetic because in the line of movies he took it upon himself to kill the idealistic and innocent Sharon Carter; by abandoning her the two years of fugitives and not looking for her. I guess watching deep movies like "The Shape of Water" and expecting that from Marvel was asking a lot.
Bucky kills Steve and apologizes, but Sam doesn't give him an ounce of grief for his death and Hope blows Sharon up from the inside. It was atrocious, but it's a zombie chapter my naive mind imagined there would be crueler and darker things. There was something just as dark if not darker which was Vision feeding off innocents to Wanda.
Let's continue watching the chapter and let's count how some characters died.
Well, Hope dies sacrificing herself I think it was a dignified death, it follows the death of Okoye who sacrifices herself for her king, I thought it was a normal thing because doremilages are supposed to fight for their kingdom and their king with their life. I hated that he said it was his fault for separating them, because no character objected when he gave the order, only Peter and in a joking tone. Follow up with the death of Kurt, Vision and Bucky. Simply Bucky's death this time for that action towards Sam, it didn't hurt.
The chapter ends with them with a possible cure and heading to wakanda where zombie thanos was waiting for them.
The bitterness that the chapter left me with was immense. The cruelest death and followed by joke was Sharon's, to the point that they minimized it and placed it to finish diverting Sharon's attention by exploiting everywhere the infected Hope scene. Sam's was the most blatant because it's not subliminal, it's direct with the words of "Bucky" saying he didn't care. I put Bucky in quotes because we all know it was the screenwriter, the Bucky we know in the MCU and comics wouldn't say that.
I thought I was paranoid suspecting Sharon's death was the cruelest and least taken seriously apropos...until I hear about the interview and realize how unprofessional the screenwriter is. What hypocrisy to say he loves Sharon on twitter after what he stated in the interview. I expected Matthew Chauncey to keep his word, not like a coward that when he gets caught he backs down seeing that he screwed up and we don't support him.
What happened in the series and in that interview is an example that the bad treatment of Sharon exists. It is not something invented by the fans, it is something on the part of the directors, writers and actors. I still don't forget Hayley Atwell's comment who said that peggy seeing that kiss in Civil War that Steve gave Sharon Peggy would revive, she would shoot Steve and Sharon would get beaten up.
I think Hayley, the writers and directors forgot that Peggy was happy with Daniel Sousa as far as we knew, even though in Agents of SHIELD they put Daniel with Quake.... It doesn't make sense, but as always they didn't want to let the series die and they tried hard to keep up with the ucm no matter that it would damage the plot of the series, which was what they should focus on (I don't know if the series is canon anymore because they even uploaded it to Disney plus).
the scriptwriters had never seen the series of agent Carter nor any of Peggy's comics (she doesn't have comics, but she has appearances) because she loves her niece, the little that comes out makes it clear. I'm not going to ask you to read all the comics either, just the most recent one where Agatha tells Steve a little more about the daughters of liberty and that possibly for Peggy Steve was just her first mission, maybe he's a good friend, for her and no more from there. Fun fact, at the end I didn't see Peggy angry trying to shoot them while they were sitting in the garden with Sharon and Steve for being together.  Even when Steve found out she was alive he had no indication of leaving Sharon or getting romantically excited, rather he was walking around angry at Peggy , Sam and Bucky for not telling him about the risk to Sharon's life (Especially Peggy because it was more personal with her more than Sharon for killing the villain's husband. basically Sharon was kind of a target to somehow hurt Peggy). I imagine if they read it that comic or any other they would be frothing at the mouth.
I don't want to be pessimistic, but I saw "What if ?" and I doubt they will place Sharon as a Skrull, Mystique, mind control or give her a redemption. It's going to happen what happens with UCM villains, they'll kill her off. In fact, something tells me that they will try to make her crueler than the Red Skull to justify a horrible death. In case she's mystique or a Skull they'll probably say she's dead and won't even take the time to show it on screen.
Not only "What if?" made me lose hope "The Falcon and winter Soldier" too, remember I had posted that it looked like Sharon would be the Power Broker, but I doubted they would because she was another character in the comics. Well, hearing that statement in the interview anything is possible. By the way, I thank him for screwing Steve, since in the five years of the devastation he never helped Sam's family. I exclude Natasha from this as she was taking care of the avengers; Thor was depressed and didn't even know Sam; Tony had to take care of his family; Rhodey didn't know Sam well enough to know he had a family and Clint was in mourning.
Sorry for the language and clarify that I'm not throwing hate at Hayley, nor the directors and writers just showing that they didn't behave well neither with Sharon, nor with Emily
by the way, remember that meme I posted a while back about no character should be hated because of their shipp, I still hold that thought now more than ever. I think it fits perfectly with the screenwriter's behavior.
to those who made it this far thank you for reading my ramblings

Hey! I absolutely love all of your Marvel fics. Have you watched or do you plan on watching The Falcon and the Winter Soldier or any of the other new Marvel shows? Do you have any thoughts on them?
Thank you! It's so nice to have an ask about these, my favorite fics!!!
I have watched WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. I have started Loki, but I'm waiting for my friend to come back so we can finish the rest.
WandaVision: Loved the premise. Felt they moved into explaining the premise too simplistically and easily. I enjoy dense shows; I don't mind having to guess a bit, and I felt a little talked-down-to by how simplistic this one got. Loved the Pietro retcon, as I loved Quicksilver in the X-Men movies approximately 10,000 times better than Quicksilver in AoU. Feel like they're opening up a multiverse, which I enjoy, though I do NOT want X-Men in MCU. I have always loved X-Men as a self-contained universe, AKA the 90s cartoon, and they really make no sense combined with everyone else. Loved Agatha until It Was Agatha All Along, and then the whole show turned into this very campy silly thing. Feel like they're opening up the idea of magic, which I hate. The entire MCU up to this point is premised around science; that's what my fics were about; that's what I enjoyed; this kind of magic is silly. Always love Darcy Lewis, always love James Woo in anything he's in. Sad about Monica's mother, do not know Rambeau from comics, but interested in the arc. Loved the Lewis/Woo/Rambeau team up. A bit disappointed in character growth for Vision, who's always been pretty boring even though I do love Vision in Earth's Mightiest Heroes and also love Paul Bettany. Pretty happy with character growth for Wanda, even though I still think magic is stupid.
Falcon and Winter Soldier: What a confused show. What a show struggling with wanting to say attractively progressive things about race and imperialism and fascism and terrorism and capitalism while also being a show made by Disney, the most capitalist and imperialist of them all. Like if this show could have been made by an independent, maybe it could have actually said something about the concepts it tries to tackle. Instead it leaves a gross taste in my mouth. I'm talking specifically about the Flag Smashers. They did handle black Captain America with more care and nuance than I expected; I am glad they had at least one black voice saying that a black Captain America is a betrayal, and at least one other black voice saying that not having black Captain America is also a betrayal. They could have done more but I was still happy they did it. Also was super happy about Sam's speech to the Senator at the end, even though it felt a little too little too late (for the show, not Sam).
Speaking of too little too late, Sam had this one very good conversation with Bucky while they're throwing shields at trees about trauma and grief. Wasn't Sam a guidance counselor for vets? Why weren't similar conversations the whole arc for Sam/Bucky, rather than this cooked up animosity that seems to be purely for laughs. Sam and Bucky have a LOT of chemistry when they're dealing with their pasts together and building boats (that was my favorite scene), but I didn't buy their stupid bickering at all.
Part of it is I just never got the arc I wanted for Bucky. Civil War was such a mess. The third Captain America movie should have been a Captain America movie rather than that disaster. Then we could have had a real and solid arc for Bucky, in which we really understand his trajectory toward recovery. This was the only piece of media since The Winter Soldier that treated his trauma as real, but, like, he's already grown so much by then that it just made me feel the arc was uneven. I do feel bad because I just don't think Sebastian Stan is that good of an actor. He is very very good at being sad and gay (cf Political Animals, Kings, The Winter Soldier), but he is not super at comedic timing. It kinda falls flat against Anthony Mackie's superb timing. Idk.

IT DID FEEL LIKE A TINY BIT FORCED BUT I LOVED HOW THEY CHOSE TO ADRESS THAT WHILE ALSO SPEAKING ON RACE AND REALLY CONNECTING IT TO RECENT EVENTS IRL. HE WAS SO SPOT ON IT WAS SO POWERFUL. HE MENTIONS HOW THE GOVERNMENT WERE CALLING PEOPLE ‘THUGS’ AND ‘TERRORISTS’ WHEN REALLY THEY WERE FIGHTING FOR THEIR PLACE/LIVES BECAUSE THEY BELIEVED THERE WAS NO OTHER WAY AND HOW WHEN YOU CALL SOMEONE A LABEL, THEY WILL BECOME THE LABEL. I WAS LITERALLY BAWLING WHEN I SAW SAM IN HIS CAP SUIT. AND OMFG WHEN BUCKY CALLS HIM CAP??????????1!1?1??1?1? I AM DEAD. DECEASED. AND THE SCENE WITH ISAIAH?????? OH GOD I WAS CRYING. SCREAMING. I HAD ALSO MENTIONED BEFORE THE QUESTION OF WHEN SAM WILL REALIZE THAT ZEMO WAS ‘RIGHT’ ABOUT KARLI BUT IT NEVER HAPPENED. UNTIL THE VERY END, SAM BELIEVED THAT THERE WAS A WAY OUT FOR KARLI WHICH IS WHY I BELIEVE THAT SAM IS MORE THAN A TRILLION PERCENT PERFECT TO BE CAPTAIN AMERICA. BECAUSE, LIKE HE SAYS, HES NOT BLONDE HAIR BLUE EYES; HE JUST BELIEVES THAT WE CAN DO BETTER 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 MILLIONS OF PEOPLE PROBABLY HATE HIM AND EVEN ISAIAH DOUBTED HIM BUT HIS MORALS STABD STRONG AND IF THERE’S ONE THING THAT IS TRUE ABOUT SAM IS THAT HE STANDS FOR WHAT HE BELIEVES IN, JUST LIKE CAPTAIN AMERICA SHOULD. Shang-Chi! and the Rings of Daddy Murder Death!
Tumblr media
When the trailer for this movie first came out, I was hyped! From the cast, to the bad ass bus scene, to Wong vs The Abomination,
Tumblr media
 I was sold!
Of course you had the people who came out saying "This is Marvel trying to be woke again. Hate crimes against Asian people on the rise, and here comes Marvel with Shang-Chi" We know this to be crazy, because Marvel already had this in the works, but certain people still reacted that way. But, even if that notion were true, would that be so bad?
It wouldn't absolve the ignorance, hatred, violence, and toxicity. But, if someone in Hollywood said "We've screwed over Asian people in films for like... ever. What if this time we choose a popular Asian character to base a movie on, and we DON'T do that?"
Now, (being that this movie supposedly leans on Chinese culture, with Shang-Chi being Chinese) China might argue that they still did them wrong (valid racist historical ptsd, cultural splicing, the whole martial arts thing, plus the main character is actually Canadian). It's not my place to weigh-in. But, I will say that making Shang-Chi Canadian, NOT a martial artist, but instead a hockey player, who loves Drake, and co-starring another Canadian, like Micheal Cera or someone
Tumblr media
probably wouldn't have worked as well for the MCU. Then, maybe Canada would have a problem with Marvel. I don’t envy movie-makers in this context.
When I was a kid I was big into Black Belt Theater, Bruce Lee movies,
Bruce Leroy,
Tumblr media
and within my love for martial arts and fighting entertainment was
Shang-Frickin-Chi.
Tumblr media
I liked it, though I remember it being a lil racist. It's weird going back in time to see your fav childhood shows and books that wouldn't fly today:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean we've certainly been a lot more sensitive these days:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Regardless, Shang-Chi is here! (played by Canada's main man Simu Liu) He goes by the name of Shaun!
Tumblr media
Don't let that name fool you. Shaun will whup that ass! He says "Bleep all those super powers, and serums, a suits, and magic, and the rubber bones of Widow! That's some ol bullshit! All I need is my Wu-Tang style!" A style fueled by his daddy issues. And he's got some serious daddy issues. To be fair, his dad is the villain of the story. If your father was the active villain of your story, you'd also have issues.
Awkwafina is his sidekick
Tumblr media
(much better than Michael Cera would be), she plays as Katy. That's fun. Every Katy I've ever known has been fun... and a heavy drinker:) This Katy is here to drive fast and crack jokes.
Ladies and Gentlemen, your new Marvel duo!
Tumblr media
It's not just daddy issues for Shang-Chi, but mommy issues (she dead), avoidance issues, his sister kicks him in the balls. He didn't even seem shocked. I mean, his balls were shocked, for sure, but it seemed like she just did that all of the time. I'm imagining Christmas when they were kids. "Here's your gift, bro. KNEE TO THE NUTS Merry Christmas" What kind of relationship is that? And why?! - well, he did abandon her for like 10 years, but... you know, that's plenty of time for her to get over it, right?? So, we'll say sister issues, his daddy training him to be an assassin issues, and his friends have issues with him! - AND KATY! They don't respect Marvel's new duo. They think Shaun and Katy should be doing more with their lives.
They are both valets during the day, and at night they rock drunken karaoke. That seems like the perfect life to me.
But, Daddy and his power rings couldn't allow them to keep living the dream. I haven't mentioned the ten rings yet.
Tumblr media
They give him super-duper-magical martial arts powers, and make him eternal. AND made him an asshole.
To be fair, he was probably already an asshole before the powers. He's been killing a lot of people. You figure he's been around for 1000+ years. His wife is dead, and he has no hobbies. It's not like he kills a few people and then goes home to read a book, or play video games, or make TikTok videos. It's sunrise to sunset killing all day, every day for generations. Then, he forms an evil terrorist group called "Ten Rings" to amplify his killing.
"Murder Death Rings" are what they should be called.
"Daddy Death Punchy Time"
""Dead Doomy Rangs of Killer Dad"
"The Legendary Killer Rings of Deadly Death Death Murder Pops"
"The... " sorry, I've been drankin a lil bit while I write... I lost my place.
I like "Daddy Death" Where was I?
Right! He can't have Shaun being happy! We've gotta get this plot going, so he sends the only white dude he can find in this movie to start some trouble for them. I guess, there might have been a couple of more white people in the film, but they all got the snot beat out of them in that bus scene. This white dude's name is "Razor Fist", yep... "Razor Fist!".
Tumblr media
At least they didn't stick to the original design.
Tumblr media
Ridiculous. How does he use the bathroom?
He's played by Florian Munteanu, who is a former heavy weight boxer. Yeah! Was also in "Creed" his nickname is "The Big Nasty". Isn't that a drink? A bartender once offered me to sample a drink called "The Big Nasty". I chose to go with a drink that doesn't have "nasty" in its title. ... I think he was offering me a drink.
???
"Daddy Murder Death" and "Sharp Fisty Man" spark this thang. And Shaun becomes Shang-Chi, beater of ass!
Tumblr media
The visuals in this movie are the best Marvel has done to date. The action is so good. I just got finished raving about the action in "Black Widow"; this surpasses that. I dug the cast. I know some people don't like Awkwafina, but... get over it. She was great in this; everybody was!
I loved the soundtrack! I'm not normally the "I loved the soundtrack guy" , but it was perfect. It begs to be mentioned.
No issues with the story. And the emotions that they're stirring in you. Whew!
One moment I'm enjoying the beater of ass, then Katy is making me laugh, then the slew of issues got me in my feelings, then the visuals wow me, then more swelling issues, back to ass beating - all the way through.
And the ending! True, Marvel has a formula (and this sticks to it), but if it ain't broken, why bleep with it?? The ending was Game of Thrones-ish, but with light so a brotha can see, and all the colors of the rainbow - like a Skittles commercial with martial arts.  Fun! - so not like GOT at all, I guess. The only fun they had was when there was torture or prostitution going on.
I don't have anything bad to say about the movie. They could have shaved 5-10 mins off, but I won't take off for that; there's just too much to love about this!
Grade: A+
Fun for the whole family! I can see the fam working through some issues after the watch.
Daughter: "You know, Dad. That asshole dad of Shang-Chi kinda reminds me of you."
Mom: "Daughter! You do NOT talk to your father that way!"
Daughter: “Just sayin...”
Dad: "That's interesting, cuz his ungrateful, bitch of a daughter reminds me of YOU!"
Mother and Daughter: *gasp
Son: *laughs
Dad: "All I want you to do is take your school work seriously and maybe date a guy who doesn't smell like weed!"
Daughter: "I'll have you know that's his natural smell! And maybe I'd focus more on school, if I didn't have to focus on YOU being such a BLEEPING ASSHOLE, DAD!"
See, that's healthy dialogue, right there. Maybe the family that watches this movie buys mommy a bunch of guns for protection, so she doesn't end up dead like the mommy in this movie. Like a ridiculous amount of guns!
And I could see brother and sister kicking each other in the crotch to resolve their differences. BUT, if they're close-by, fighting each other, then there's no time to abandon one another.
Marvel does it again!
Whichever of the Marvel films is your favorite, this one will probably be up there as well.

Tony Stark and Reed Richards for the character ask thing
TONY STARK
how i feel about this character: 😬 ngl i... don't care for him. at all. i don't vehemently hate him, there's definitely times where i appreciate him & his personality but it's few and far between and i... genuinely do not get the hype. i think its mostly mcu fans' fault for my dislike, its just he's fucking EVERYWHERE now, it's impossible to miss him? like he plays a big role in EVERY avengers comic now, he gets ongoing titles all the time, and it's just so frustrating especially when you consider characters who used to be more or less on the same level on them (like hank pym! who, by the way, has been dead for 6 consecutive years! that would never happen with tony!) or even more popular than him now get streamlined because of the mcu's popularity. by himself, i don't really mind him that much, but with how famous he is now and how large and frankly annoying his fan base is i just... now really do not like the character.
all the people i ship romantically with this character: short list here; reed, because i find their dymanic of reed as someone who does everything for his family and will do everything and anything he can to protect their interests above everyone else but also wants to keep his hands clean and believes, genuinely, in the good of the world, and tony as someone who will do horrendous things in the name of the greater good who always has the bigger picture in mind interesting. i also don't know a lot about it but he seems cute with rhodey? even if i think rhodey deserves a bigger chance to be his own character away from tony as is sometimes denied i can always appreciate a good best friends to lovers dymanic :)
my non romantic otp for this character: um? i honestly don't know 😭 i don't like him enough to say, i guess him n reed again? him n rhodey again? help 😭😭😭
my unpopular opinion of this character: he does not deserve the fame he has. like, i dont mean to sound jealous or whatever but pre 2007 movie he was not the most well liked character or even that popular. like obviously he had fans because he had solo series on and off for a very long time but it just feels SO ridiculous that tony stark has a bigger fandom than the fucking fantastic four. THE FANTASTIC FOUR. marvel's first superhero team, and yet??? like okay. he might have things to offer i don't see. he obviously does, i mean, he got three movies and multiple solo series. but he has most certainly not got enough as a character to overshadow the fantastic four, the x-men, etc and i will never forgive the mcu & mcu fans (and mark miller, he deserves blame too) for making it so. again, by himself he's fine but it is ridiculous to me that a one note white character that appeared in his third film (harley keener or... whatever) has 2000s more fics than THE PROTAGONIST OF INTO THE SPIDERVERSE, MILES MORALES. it is just... so vile and frustrating to me.
one thing i wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: he didn't exist <3 jk jk um i'm not sure? i guess it would be funny if he was like... stick thin underneath the armour. like idk. he's in the armour 24/7 it makes sense to me for him to be a skinny little nerd under there. like completely fucking small. like you can't be a superhero AND be a billionaire and avoid all those taxes AND run the avengers AND run multiple massive corporations and still work out... even if you take away eating and sleeping there's just not enough time... it would be funny if he was just a tiny little boy underneath all that djndndbf
my otp: gonna say him and rhodey again. like i say, can never resist a good best friends to lovers dymanic.
my cross over ship: jdjshdhdh literally none i don't think about him enough to consider it <3
headcanon fact: 100% think he was the one to offer reed that money to star in a p*rno it's just so funny to me to imagine dhsnndnd
REED RICHARDS
how i feel about this character: HE'S MY BOY! I LOVE HIM SO MUCH! like i guess it's paradoxical considering how similar he is to tony in some ways but man i just love reed so much. i so genuinely think reed richards is what tony stark fans want him to be. like they (mcu fans) make up elaborate headcanons of him being a good dad and an ethical billionaire and its like no that's reed richards? canonically he's gone broke bc he refuses to get money off his inventions... u have the wrong man... anyway he's also an asexual LEGEND i do not take criticism and ofc. autistic icon. literally he's so autistic it makes me <3 i love him dearly.
all the people i ship romantically with this character: it would be easier to list the people i DON'T ship with him lol. sue, obviously, victor ofc, and ben are the big ones, but i just LOVE his dymanic with t'challa and i think they would rlly work it... i also love the idea of him with namor, idk with victor it's just so funny to imagine reed as like. bizarrely attractive to rulers of foreign countries. blackagar faces the same problem <3 i also do believe him n hank pym dated in college for a bit... all their weird little microaggressions towards each other just makes me feel that way... again i do like him w/ tony and i made this weird au where he and emma frost got together which if prompted i WILL talk about. probably. more but yeah <3
my non romantic otp for this character: while i do LOVE them together as lovers i just love. benreed generally <3 like they're LITERALLY besties they love each other sm and i'm tired of pretending they don't????? so many people ignore this relationship and it makes me so sad!!! they're best friends they love each other fight for each other fight with each other theyre literally besties... smh put some respect on the benreed name 😤
my unpopular opinion of this character: i don't think this is that unpopular but it is in certain circles so! i genuinely think reed is the best marvel dad! like you can talk abt others all u want but the fact is that reed is the only character i can think of who has always been there in his kid's lives and has consistently put their needs first. like not saying other characters are bad but even at his worst writing he's always done his best for his kids and certainly has been full of love for them. other characters at their worse have. murdered their own kids <3 genuinely he's the best marvel dad and sure there's not a lot of competition but. yeah <3
one thing i wish would happen/had happened with this character: I WANT A CANONICAL AUTISM DIAGNOSIS NOW. literally he is SO autistic & there are... no big autistic marvel characters! at all! literally none! the closest we have is legion (who was written in an incredible ableist way and autism hasnt been used to describe him in a solid 30 years) and monet (and it turned out it wasn't monet but one of her twin sisters impersonating her :/) so it would just mean so much to see a canonically autistic character like reed who is older & has a wife and kids who he loves and who they love in return on panel. like so much of the rep we DO have is like, young kids or teens and idk an autistic adult would just mean so much to me. especially one like reed who is as selfless & loving as he is.
my otp: tie between doomreed and reedsue! any option that gets this noodle nerd lots of love i'm good for tbh
my cross over ship: him and ralph dibney from dc should date... they have so much in common... stretchy autistic man who's very smart and kind of silly who loves his wife sue who pegs him 🥴 they'd have so much to talk about sjbdhdhd also imagining the look on ben's face realising there's TWO of them is. so funny.
headcanon fact: he's aromantic he's asexual and neither of these stop him from his very meaningful & passionate relationship with his wife :)
assorted character ask game!
