[Image Description
Fanart of the characters Damian Wayne al Ghul and Maya Ducard, specifically from the Robin, Son of Batman: Year of Blood and Dawn of the Demons, in black and white.
Maya is hunched over, carrying Damian in a piggyback, with a wide smile on her face. Her outfit is her Nobody suit; a sleeveless white bodysuit with black accents, the main being a stretched wide V shape on her chest, with full gloves reaching almost entirely up her arm. Her black hair is loose and messy as it grazes her shoulders, kept out of her face with a plain white headband.
Damian is displaying the opposite of Maya's joy and sits on her back with a stoic and forced-emotionless expression. He is pointing 'onwards' to direct her, likely what Maya is actually laughing at. He is wearing his Robin costume; a long black cape with a yellow lining, a red sleeveless tunic, with a dark undershirt. His boots and elbow-high gloves are a matching green.
The drawing is rather simple and rushed, mostly a warm up to keep me from going rusty.

Researcher needs help
Hi Tumblr!
I'm doing my master thesis in art history on the creation of a new museum focused on briton music, a folk art from an oral based dying culture, and I am looking for other examples / attempts at valorisation of folk music, ideally from other threatened cultures. Anything celtic would be awesome, since there would be a common ancestry, but I'm interested in any other music you might think of, like indigenous music, slavic, asian, black... Basically, if you can think of a place / time in which people tried to figure out how to make their musical cultural heritage available to a wider public, I want to hear about it!!!
You can contact me here, but if (hopefully) I get a lot of replies, I'll add an email to make things easier for everyone.

Do you have any tips for drawing noses? Sorry this is out of nowhere but I'm wanting to improve on my art, specifically the faces, and it's always the nose I find myself struggling most with.
I really struggle w making it fit the face if that makes sense? Every time I try to add it it just throws the whole face off, especially the eyes, not to mention how to make different nose types and the angles </33
I love your art style so bad, it's so smooth and satisfying to look at and the way you draw noses like it's nbd (and anatomy in general like damn) baffles me so I was just wondering if you maybe had any tricks or not, Ty either way for sharing your art in the first place <33
@extravagav Well I can try! First off thank you very much, I often feel like I still have a very long way to go in regards to proportions and anatomy so I really appreciate your kind words <3
Hokay, so, noses. I do love noses. To start off when it comes to drawing noses I'm afraid I'm going to have to give you the most annoying advice in the world which is just to practice a lot. Find a lot of pictures of noses in a bunch of different shapes from a bunch of different angles and just draw them until your brain melts out of your ears. Pay particular attention though to the nose as a 3D object!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's of course trickier to do than I'm making it out to be but the more you practice at imagining the nose as a 3d physical form the easier it becomes to make a nose model in your mind that you can rotate like a microwave.
This is my personal very very basic understanding of the nose's construction:
Tumblr media
it's like three circles and a taco shell.
Okay so now that you've got a basic understanding of the nose's construction, how to put it in the middle of the god-dang face??
So the funky thing about noses is that they tend to change shape the least out of all our facial features when we're making expressions. Our eyes change shape, our mouths move, our eyebrows, our cheeks, our jaws, they all go all over the place. the nose, however, tends to be pretty stationary and doesn't deform much (save in one important way I'll get to later). So because of all this, and here's my biggest piece of advice when it comes to making the nose fit in the face, I like to draw the nose first! I do a very loose head construction, draw the nose, and then sort of "hang" the rest of the features off of it:
Tumblr media
Two very different expressions, same nose!
Now when it comes to noses interacting specifically with the eyes the greatest thing to remember is that the part of the nose that sits between the eyes sticks out farther than you might think, and will likely be obscuring one of them, the extent of which depending a lot on the angle and how pronounced the nose bridge is.
Tumblr media
for someone with a pretty flat nose bridge you'll be able to see most of the eye except in a more extreme angle, while someone with a protruding ridge might obscure the eye entirely. but the nose will likely be interacting with at least one eye if we're not facing the character head on. Really making your brain think in 3d is gonna most helpful here.
Finally! The nose being expressive! So the main way the nose plays in to expression is by wrinkling. the muscles that pull up your top lip and the muscles that pull down the middle of your forehead are almost all connected to the nose, so the nose tends to develop a lot of wrinkles whenever brows are furrowed or teeth are bared.
Tumblr media
Adding those wrinkles can add a lot of impact in the expression! And not just angry ones neither:
Tumblr media
Sooooooooooooooo yeah! noses! They're weird and they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and they can do a lot to add character to a face and they can also make you want to tear your hair out in big clumps! I'm still learning myself when it comes to noses (and most other things) and I'm faaaar from a master at it, but I hope I've been able to provide at least a little bit of help. If you do use my advice going forward please let me know! Good luck!!!!! (And here's all my nose "headcanons" for the strawhats. The ones who actually have human noses, anyway):

Lord knows I'm gonna regret this because people go buckwild about ships, but look. You can love destiel, I'm happy for you. You don't even need to give me any evidence. Ship characters who haven't even met if you want, I'm not bothered.
But please, I'm begging, stop using the siren thing as evidence for destiel. The siren being Sam isn't even subtext it's just text, what with the 'I gave him what he needed. And it wasn't some bitch in a G-string. It was you' line so there are exactly two ways you can take it.
1. Dean's greatest desire is to have a good relationship with his brother (the siren can take on the shape of platonic desires)
2. Dean's greatest desire is to fuck his brother (the siren can only take on the shape of sexual desires)
You don't have to like option 2, that's fine. But in that case, take option 1 and run with it people. Because if you start trying to argue that:
The siren is evidence that Dean has sexual feelings towards a man, so Dean is bi, therefore destiel. What you're really arguing is Dean has sexual feelings for the illusory, perfect version of Sam.
Like idk guys, I see people joking about how not heterosexual Dean's siren being a man is and... you can totally watch it that way. But the siren isn't just a man he is a very specific man.... his brother.... soooo.

The main thought ringing in my head at the three-quarter mark of Jenny Nicholson's Star Wars Hotel video is how badly Disney missed the mark on not targeting the demographic of LARPers, cosplayers, and RenFest nerds as opposed to... whoever the hell they were actually targeting, with that combination of experience and price point.
Like. Not to further out myself as a massive goddamn dork, but there was a span of nearly ten years where I was going to the Ohio RenFest at least once a season, every season. And even there, the years where I went in some form of costume and played along with the actors as opposed to wearing jeans and a t-shirt, my experience was so much richer. There was such a different level of banter and playfulness and entertainment when I actively leaned into the immersion. I had so much fun interacting with the shopkeeps and cast members as an elf or random Fantasy Medieval Maiden, because they saw the costume and on some level went, "You! You are One Of Us!" and matched that energy, and thus gave me the chance to match it in return.
(One year, early on, when my "costume" was a frilly blouse, leggings, boots, elf ears, and a hastily sewn cloak, I had a random older gentleman run up to our group, press a gold coin into my palms, kiss the back of my hand in a very respectful and courtly manner, and disappear into the crowd. No context, no further story or plot or interaction, but almost fifteen years later I still have that gold coin on a shelf of tchotchkes.)
Watching every time Jenny tried so desperately to lean into the Galactic StarCruiser/overall Star Wars experience, to actively engage with the story and the characters, only to be lowkey ignored or actively rebuffed or scorned, legitimately broke my heart a little. (The bit in the experience finale where she was like "it felt like we were supposed to respond somehow, but I didn't because it was embarrassing, which is its own form of Force torture" was simultaneously hilarious and extremely relatable and incredibly sad.) Setting aside the issues with the app and tech, let alone the refusal to address legitimate complaints until she took to Twitter, not even getting a hint of reciprocal interaction from the actors when your choices supposedly matter in your overall experience would be so incredibly disheartening.
Ohio RenFest tickets were about $20 when I started going in high school, plus whatever food and merchandise you wanted to buy. Nowadays, even with inflation, they're still only $35 for adult tickets, which gets you access to everything, and you can absolutely get a full day's experience out of that with only the additional cost for food and beverages. I cannot fathom spending six thousand fecking dollars for two days ("two dollars per person per minute" will live rent free in my head for a while) on what is supposedly an immersive experience, marketed as living out your Star Wars story, only to get the absolute bare minimum in return. It really feels like such an indicator of how modern-day Disney is willing to cut corners as much as possible while leaning on brand recognition, and especially on nostalgia, in order to milk every last red cent out of their customers, until they run out of both money and goodwill. And that is so, so incredibly sad.

Fic idea: it's kinda ridiculous but I thought it would be fun.
The entire batfam (Alfred, Bruce, Dick, Barbara, Jason, Tim, Steph, Cass, Damian, Duke, Kate, Luke Fox, Lucius Fox, I think that's all of them?) die and get Isekai'd to their own personal fantasy world and they also have a hub world where they can visit and figure out how to get back.
Alfred and Jason get sent to your classic magic medieval fantasy world (if we're talking specifically I'm thinking maybe The Wheel of Time in the 4th age with both of them being ridiculously powerful Ashaman)
Lucius and Tim (maybe Luke too? Idk much about him) are sent to a super technologically advanced world (maybe star wars/trek or Cyberpunk 2077?)
Steph, Cass, and Damian get sent to your classic Wuxia world. Cass and Damian are the children of the Heavenly Demon and Steph is the daughter of the Murim Alliance Leader.
Duke and Kate get sent to the cliché Gate manhwa (maybe Solo Leveling? Have them become the heirs of 2 of the monarchs?)
Bruce gets sent into Warhammer 40k and is one of the missing Primarchs.
Finally Dick and Babs get sent into a magic academy Manhwa.
Within their hub world they basically hang out and compile all the stuff they manage to learn from their worlds and eventually after about a year has passed in all their worlds they are given a condition for being able to open a portal back and forth between the hub and their original world: conquer your world.
They each have various reactions because their positions are wildly different in their worlds.
It takes them 1000 years primarily because Bruce has to conquer an entire galaxy of Xenophobes, Demon Gods, angry mushroom orks, robot hiveminds, and the Tyranids. Everyone else is done within 200 years and have been sitting pretty ruling their worlds since they're all biologically immortal thanks to all the magic and powers they have from their various dimensions.
TLDR: batfam gets Isekai'd and eventually comes back to Gotham as isekai protagonist gods
