Sometimes I imagine this AU where Danny just showed up out of nowhere and he becomes a bit of a town cryptid, and one day, people see him arguing with this huge eldritch horror thing with time symbols and such, and this boy isn’t backing down. Keep in mind, he’s like half the size of this thing’s pinky finger.
Or he does this in front of the Links, both scenarios are great.
Eldritch Clockwork: I just didn’t want to see you get hurt, okay? That guy could’ve killed you! I know you think you’re tough, but you are fucking five feet tall!
Danny: I am five-foot-two!!
Everyone else: ‘WTF???’

Dannymay- nails
I think it’s really interesting that Sam canonically likes “nine inch nails”. I don’t know if she actually listens to it, but she definitely had a poster for it. I think if she ever showed it to tucker and Danny they wouldn’t get it… or Danny would vibe way too hard and end up in an existential spiral. Either way, Sam’s having a good time.
I’m sorry to all nine inch nails fans who like the ghosts album. I know it’s supposed to be “music to daydream too” or something, but to me it’s just “music to dissociate too”

A Quiet Night in Gotham
The Batman (2004) X Danny phantom
(Canon be damned)
*Tap* *tap* *tap*
The first day was a struggle.
*Tap* *tap* *tap*
The second was mostly spent in the gym (despite protests from his butler/physician/father figure)
*Tap* *tap* *tap*
Bruce sat restlessly playing their hundredth game of checkers. It had been raining non-stop for three days already. Heavy rainfall is the third most common cause for car accidents. How anyone finds it soothing is a mystery.
It had been a long time since Bruce had had such a calm night. But three in a row? He didn't like it. He knew this could only be the calm before yet another storm. He couldn't have known how right he was.
Alfred tried to convince him that a night in could be good for him. Let the fractures heal a little longer. But Bruce couldn't stay in. It was only a matter of time. Everyone's still locked up in Arcam and Gotham State penitentiary, so he shouldn't need to worry, right? As if that's ever meant safety.
Grapling from rooftop to rooftop was much harder in this weather. The suit may be waterproof, but he still needs to see where he's going. It seems everyone is following the city's advice to stay in. He even checked that the shelters Bruce Wayne had funded were holding up. Still nothing from the Batwave. Maybe criminals don't want to be out in this weather either.
Batman checked the amusement parks. He checked the cryogenics labs, the botany labs, the chemical labs, and the banks. Nothing. By 4am, he had ruled out every likely target. All evidence says the night is quiet. Which isn't possible. Not in Gotham.
At 8 a.m., Alfred walked into the Batcave intent on ushering Bruce to bed. It was a struggle, but no one over rules the butler.
*Tap* *tap* *tap*
On the fourth day, something finally happened. Detective Yin called. He didn't even wait for an explanation. Before heading out.
"What is it?" He lurched out of a shadowy corner of the decrepit apartment building he'd been summoned to. A slight hint of eagerness crept into his tone.
Yin smiled. "It's nothing big. I just thought you'd get stir cazy with nothing to do." She was right. He would never admit it, but she knew him better than most. "There was a noise complaint. It's probably just crashers." She had a resigned look on her face, like she wanted it to be more, too.
They split up to check the rooms.
A pair of trap doors opened, and they both got their wish.

🦇 DC x DP Fans 👻
Watch The Batman 2004 cartoon! Especially if you like putting Danny in the batfam! There is an episode where they show a picture of young Bruce Wayne, and he genuinely looks like Danny.
The Batman cartoon is about a younger Bruce Wayne who has only been Batman for three years at the start. He's not all gruff and distant all the time, he's got quips and jokes now and then.
Barbara and Dick show up in the series, and then the Justicr League comes in too. It's especially fun because they explore different canons or original backstories for a lot of the characters- Like Martian Manhunter.
Anyways I just think the vibes of this cartoon go well with Danny's vibes, and I need someone else to understand my vision.

danny phantom as a show is a Lot less misogynistic than i remember (last watched about 8 years ago?) i'm decidedly more educated on feminist theory, media analysis, film theory, representation, cultural anthropology, intersectionality etc etc than i was at 21 and i frequently find myself cringing about my past opinions on favorite tv shows (every rewatch of supernatural gets astronomically worse). so it's pretty rare i find myself in the position that my past opinion was overly critical, but i do think it's the case here.
i mean, butch hartman sucks balls but the show, as opposed to being overtly woman hating, just suffers from the protagonist being disproportionately more competent than everyone around him (if you've watched enough shows aimed at middle schoolers you're accutely aware this theme runs rampant). and yet still, valerie for example is a physically skilled, intelligent, and competent black teen girl who frequently beats danny in fights and is allowed her romantic interests at the same time AND expresses joy directly to danny about having a constructive conversation with sam (danny's female best friend who has a crush on him) about the social dynamics in which they're entangled. woah!
i still have beef with the depiction of danny's mother. however, i do now see Much more clearly the amount of office-style looking-into-the-camera moments and assumption of cultural understanding surrounding the instances of women giving up their potential for the men in their life. jazz as a character reiterates this more evidently when we place her into the same "teenagers are smarter than adults" narrative that the show expects the audience to see danny in.
idk! i just appreciate being able to see this show through a new lense, and also to reflect on my past self and find growth in ways i wasn't expecting. looking forward to a future of continued learning and constant change. and also watching cartoons.

Danny Phantom was a show that began a year before I was born, and I remember nothing besides the main character and whatever google searches give me. I don't remember anything about watching episodes of the show. For that matter, I only remember some of butch hartman's stuff. I think I also learned he was a conservative christian who may have swindled people out of money. I don't know. I'm spreading rumours I haven't yet checked up on. Either way, I never really feel a desire to rewatch his shows. Well, I do remember the one about the dog secret agent. That one was kind of fun for me. But I still don't know if i need to see it again, or if i even want to (considering those aspersions against him i just cast earlier).
Anyways...where was I going with this? Right! I somehow remember Kim Possible better than Danny Phantom. They both ended when I was, like, two years old. But one ended up getting more watched by me offline. I never watched Kim Possible all the way through to the end, but I remember skimming some as a kid. It's why I remember it better than some other shows that ended when I was young. The Batman (2004) is another one I remember bits and pieces of.
I don't really have much else to say here, except maybe that i always find it interesting to look up cast lists for shows i saw years ago. As a young kid, you never really question anything that you see. But now i love seeing the cast lists. It gives me new names to look up, and I find that oddly fascinating. It's fun to learn that one person did fifty different characters, yet you somehow never knew it was them. That kind of thing is the most interesting part of looking stuff like this up, I think.

In 2004 The Batman. Every single character can jump ridiculously high. To the Phantoms, it would look like everyone can slightly fly or float, and to the Batman, it would look like the Phantoms are just normal possible villains. I mean, if penguin can do it, why not these street kids?
