I’m really fuckin angry about “Shattered.”
Lionel Luthor is like some kind of mestastacizing cancer.
He manages to make Clark feel guilty for being loyal to Lex, and blame himself for Lana’s injuries, which are wholly an accident ultimately caused BY Lionel.
He makes certain Lex will never trust ANY form of psychiatric care (which he desperately needs) because the person could (quite plausibly!) be tied to Lionel.  Which, whether Lex stays in the “looney bin” that he already mistrusts, or is released and then slowly erodes under the force of (justified!) paranoia, will ensure that his son has a psychotic break that’s REAL, and then externalize it onto others.
This was the perfect opportunity for Clark to come clean to Lex.  The look on Lex’s face, when Clark busted Edge’s car, is one of almost rapturous, tearful awe.  He is happy to know Clark isn’t human; he is grateful that Clark stood by him and convinced Chloe and Lana to help.  But instead Clark chooses to run.
Tumblr media
I also think Jonathan and Martha are the least likable they’ve ever been. Harboring Lex would not have put Clark in danger anymore than letting Lex go  Edge wasn’t even after Clark.  It seems like bad writing that they’d just stand there looking sorry for Lex and not fucking HELP him. Where the hell are their parental instincts??? I mean, even Jonathan had finally caved and accepted Lex at this point, and he just bought them their entire farm back!
It’s also bad writing that everyone would think Lionel trying to drug his son was implausible. Like, that’s Satan’s ballsack, folks, hair and all.  Why the hell would you think him incapable of that?
Anyway Michael Rosenbaum is the best actor on that show and he broke my heart with his amazingly nuanced performance in this episode.  I remember the “Hurt” Johnny Cash number to this day, and I don’t  care if Lionel is having misgivings while watching his only child walk around in a padded cell with the belief that he is so completely alone in the world, putting him there because that child took his own teachings and applied them TOO well.
Tumblr media
I fucking HATE him.
Other observations:
1) Do we ever find out exactly how Lex “hurt” baby Julian and “caused him to die”? (I don’t think Lionel was lying about this, but I have to fucking hate him even more because he then weaponizes that childhood trauma to make Lex feel guilty and falter--”Be careful, Lex, I can’t lose another child”r ead: like you made me lose Julian and Lucas already. AGH!)  Can we also acknowledge the school belltower incident a little more because....god... “You know I cant take it when he cries, dad.”  What does that mean. Does that mean he accidentally smothered Julian? Does that mean he held him too tightly when singing a lullabye and “can’t take it” was a compassion response? Is Lex actually autistic, and did he panic because he was in sensory overload?
2) I remember now that this episode is why I was never hugely on board with Clex. I can completely see why people ship it.  But I’ve had a longtime headcanon that, once Lucas didn’t pan out, Clark more fully became Lex’s second chance at raising a baby sibling, and Lex uses the only love language he knows--gifts--to express his need to be important to Clark.  This got even more pronounced after Helen’s betrayal, and Lionel’s (latest), and certainly was always brewing because Lex was close to Lillian, and Julian’s death had to profoundly wound her.  Lex has been carrying that guilt around for nearly two decades, and it’s VERY significant that when he was feeling the most vulnerable and afraid, his mind went to what his psyche still deems his worst and most shameful mistake.

was thinking of this post (i also have a screenshot of the post at the end) and now i can't stop thinking of a uni!supercorp au set in the fucking philippines like
au is set in 2016. this is very vital to the story
lena's an international student to dlsu manila for a term (i was thinking business rich kid [so dlsu] and not lawyer/politician rich kid [admu]) bc when lillian suggested she join an international exchange program lena decided to choose the country the farthest away from lillian's influence (luthor corp has no hold in most of SEA [minus singapore obvs] and lena chose the philippines mostly because of the slightly less difficult language barrier) and majors in both science and business courses
kara got into up diliman through blood, sweat, and tears. her parents were researchers during the marcos era who were killed during martial law. kara was adopted by the danvers as jeremiah was the zor-els' co-worker and eliza was a traveling doctor. the danvers took kara and alex back to the states (usa) but kara wanted to figure out how and why her parents died and the ph is a great place to get a journalism degree so she studied up on not only the language but ph culture, history, and news as well before transferring to the ph the summer before her third year of high school. alex got a job as a medical consultant in the ph soon after and the two live together in qc (quezon city)
kara and lena meet when lena accidentally finds herself in the middle of a protest march passing through taft (kara started in up manila, not diliman hahaha)
she has no fucking idea what it's about
kara assumes lena's part of the protest and asks if she'd like to borrow one of her signs but then lena's like "what the fuck is happening"
"we're protesting marcos's burial in, uh, the national cemetery for heroes," kara explains and lena still looks so lost and kara feels both bad for the woman and awestruck that someone so beautiful exists. "marcos, like, ferdinand marcos? the country's ex-president that declared martial law, plundered the country in horrible debt, and then was banned from returning?"
lena knows some of those words, she thinks. she'd studied up on philippine history a little bit before she arrived but the textbook she'd read felt incredibly racist if not colonialist, but she's sure she read about a president declaring martial law before, so she nods as if she gets it
the protest keeps marching forward and lena finds that she can't really escape the crowd unless she wants to get crushed, so she sticks closest to kara who's both a friendly (gorgeous) face and also has the closest accent to hers
kara shares with lena more details about why they're marching and helps translate some of the more unfamiliar words of their chants
almost twenty minutes after lena accidentally joined the march, practically drenched in sweat but too moon eyed towards the blonde to care, lena finally asks where they're marching to
"to the cemetery in taguig."
taguig. taguig city. more than two hours away on foot
"oh."
when kara sees lena's face fall, she gently takes lena's wrist and manages to maneuver them to the side of the protest, away from the wave of people. kara asks what's wrong and lena admits that she's already super fucking tired and would never be able to finish the march
kara understands and decides to accompany lena while they wait for a grab ride to arrive. as lena orders her ride, kara texts her activist and journalism friends to let them know that she won't be at the final rally anymore
while they wait, they learn more about each other and find themselves even more smitten than when they first met (sometime during this part, kara also gives lena one of her extra shirts [because she's a seasoned commuting pro and knows to never leave home without an extra shirt and small towel] so lena's just looking super comfy and cute in kara's shirt)
when lena's ride arrives, kara double checks the grab because she's That Kind of person before helping her in
"thanks for waiting with me. it was nice meeting you," lena says and kara smiles, wide and toothy.
"it was nice meeting you, too. ingat!" and kara closes the card door before she remembers to even ask for lena’s number
still, the lack of contact details doesn't deter her. she knows enough about lena that hopefully dropping by dlsu more often would mean being able to see her again
and she does
anyways if this was a short fic I'd def end it around here with kara and lena getting that date but if it were a long fic then i'd 100% make kara investigate and study the ejks (extra judicial killings) during duterte's time and lena learning and falling in love with the ph the way kara has which includes lena learning how to commute (which someday, when she leads l-corp, means that she helps build and fund a better fucking public transport system)
this was suuuuppppeeer fun to even just think about and I can't promise I'll write it but just this idea has me pumped! hope the 3 pinoys who see this enjoy 💕

A modern history of The Luthor family and how they grew in prominence.
Lionel Luthor was born in the Suicide Slums of Metropolis, Delaware. Lionel grew up in a rather abusive household. His father was an alcoholic who used to rant about how the Luthor name meant something in the old country. That the Luthors were 'forces to reconned with'. He would tell of Alexei Luthor, who almost carved out his own country if not for the meddlesome Justice Society of America. Now, his descendants were just scraping by.
These stories actually inspired Lionel as well as contributed to his disgust towards his father. Lionel was always an independent and intelligent boy. If something went wrong in their small apartment, Lionel would fix it rather than rely on the oft-absent super. It got to the point where other tenants would hire Lionel to fix things, albeit payment was usually in the form of food. The young boy realized he had a way to get out of poverty, to be a true Luthor. Unfortunately, that path required resources he didn't have, not without money.
Money that became even more scarce when his brother Jules was born. Lionel, working multiple jobs for barely a penance because of his age, had enough. He started hatching a sinister plan. During the time Jules grew from a baby to a toddler, Lionel managed to develop a relationship with the local gangs. He provided mechanical support while they flipped cars or needed repairs to their getaway vehicles. The young boy then falsified his father's signature and used the money to take out insurance on his parents - his pathetic drunkard father & his passive weak mother.
Using his knowledge, Lionel rigged his father's beat-up old car when the two were supposed to go on an errand. Lionel made it a point to be at the apartment to take care of his brother so that Jules wouldn't be taken along. His plan worked, & he and his brother were sent into foster care.
Unfortunately, Lionel's new foster father was almost as bad as his father. Casey Griggs was a greedy man who tried almost every trick to get to Lionel's ill-gotten inheritance. Lionel was just street-smart enough to avoid them. In addition, he had something he didn't before: allies.
In his new school, Lionel made a close friend named Perry White who often backed up Lionel in his endeavors. In addition, Casey's daughter, Lillian, was far more moral than her father. She used herself as a shield for Jules and a spy for Lionel. Lionel & Lillian were both drawn to each other, two children who were victims of abusive fathers and absent mothers, two children who knew they were meant for more than their circumstances dictated to them.
One day, however, the stalemate between Lionel and Casey came to a head. Perry managed to convince Lionel to watch a football game with him and their mutual friend Alice Spencer. Lionel would later regret letting Perry persuade him for the rest of his life.
While he was enjoying the game with Alice and Perry, Casey was beating his daughter for not agreeing to seduce Lionel to get the account numbers. Lionel returned to sirens: an ambulance was leaving while Casey was forced into the cop car. Lillian was in a coma. Lionel, in both grief and guilt, blamed Perry for convincing him not to go home on time. Perry, while he also felt guilty, was angry at his friend for unfairly blaming him. Thus, their relationship was ruined.
At that point, Lionel was more determined than ever to control his own fate. He allowed himself and his brother to be separated under the condition the brothers be allowed to remain in contact. Lionel then took the necessary steps to become emancipated. He reforged his contacts with the underworld as well as established his own business whilst going to school.
Within a few years of his graduation, Lionel managed to create LuthorCorp. By that time, Lillian had already come out of her coma. The two sweethearts had a very short engagement. Lillian would continue to suffer from health problems, but it didn't stop her from having their children.
During his time in school, Lionel had become fascinated by history, particularly by great generals and rulers. He felt a strong kinship to the Romans and used a great number of their philosophies in business. Lionel soon became known as a sinister and clever up-start. He managed to one-up long-established business dynasties with his cunning and brutality. Lillian herself used her social abilities to blend in with the uppity elite of Metropolis & often advised her husband when dealing with others.
Lionel, while determined not to emulate his pathetic father, was rather harsh on his children. He set high standards, not only for himself but for them. Lillian was the only one who could convince him to soften his approach.
The bond between Lionel and Lillian was unshakeable. Nothing was more evident when Lionel finally took revenge on Perry.
At that time, Perry was a war correspondent for the Daily Star (the Daily Planet's former name). The place where he was last seen was decimated by bombs. It was reported that he was killed. Lionel, however, knew his former friend had already left that area. He used that opportunity to approach Perry's wife, Alice. Using their shared history and Alice's old crush on him, Lionel 'comforted' the widow.
Unfortunately, Alice became pregnant. Lionel felt extreme guilt to both the child and his wife. Lillian forgave him, knowing he merely used the sex as a weapon & that his heart purely belonged to her. Perry, on the other hand, was furious. The young reporter demanded that Lionel stay away from his family, or he'd expose Lionel's past. Lionel, feeling guilty, agreed on the condition he was allowed to set up a fund that would belong to the child in the event of Lionel's death.
Jerome Peregrine White was born to a family that loved him, & a parent that longingly watched from a distance.

Our love can change the world
read it on AO3 at https://ift.tt/zoBeNlm by mari_cammi What if Kara had leaned in, or maybe taken Lena and finally told her what she felt for her, and Lena told her back? And if Lex had done something so terrible that not even Lilian could forgive him, especially after she started therapy with the craziest psychologist in all the DC world? Well, this is the story of Kara and Lena, as I think could have gone after Kara returned from the Phantom Zone. Something that happened in the show didn't happen or is a little different and I don't like the way Alex and Eliza treat Kara for a long time, so I won't be so gentle with them in the beginning, so if you don't like it don't read this FF. I hate Mon-EL and James, so as I said before don't read this FF if they are your favorite characters. (Lillian Luthor’s Plan)
Kara: what the hell are you doing here?
Lillian: relax Mrs Danvers. I’m here to help. Not hinder.
Lucy: mhmm(.) A likely story(.)
Lillian (holding her arm up to reveal a baby Truth Seeker): oh but it is. You can rest assured that every word I’m speaking to you is the absolute truth.
Mon El: I feel like we owe those poor kids a hefty amount of financial compensation.
Lillian: you do. Andrea, come out of the shadows dear. I already know it’s you. And you are not to blame for what Leviathan or your father has done.
Andrea: does she know everything?
Karamel (exhaustedly): yes.
Lillian: well at least I’m on your side in all of this. I can help you put a stop to Lex and the imp.
Kelly: what about Esme?
Lillian: oh yes. The child. She’s a sweet little girl. And for what it’s worth I am truly sorry that she was caught up in my son’s machinations.
Alex: then why didn’t you take her and bring her back here.
Lillian: we’re all parents here Miss Danvers. Well. Apart from Miss Nal, Mr Ackerman, Miss Lane, Mr Olsen, Andrea and the children of course. And you know as well as I do that Lex would not have hesitated killing both me and your daughter had I interfered.
Carter: Ackerman?
Brainy: my human alias.
Carter: ohhhh.
Mon El: you said you were here to help.
Lillian: I am Mr Danvers. Believe me. I am.
Mon El: then cut the bullshit and help.
Lucy: I have several questions.
Karamel and Dansen: NOT NOW LUCY!
James: later Luce.
Lucy: but-
James (firmly): later.
Lucy (huffily): fine.
Nia: what’s your plan Mrs Luthor?
Lillian: your intention to use the satellite to give yourself a boost is logically sound but misguided in execution. Suicidal in fact. Both socially and literally.
Mon El: elaborate.
Lillian: everyone here knows you are not the governors favourites. She will not hesitate to shoot you down if she thinks your actions put the planet in danger.
Lucy: she’s right. The risk of it vastly outweigh the reward.
Kara: so what would you have us do?
Lillian: this is where Samantha comes in?
Samantha: me?
Lillian: yes dear. You. After. You have magic do you not?
Samantha: yes....?
Lillian: then it’s simply a matter of you transferring your magic to Mrs Danvers so she can fight Lex and the imp on an even playing field.
Nia: like Triassic Triumph!
Carter and Ruby: YES!
Lillian: explanation please?
Nia: Power Rangers Dino Thunder. Kira and Ethan have Conner their morphing powers so he could activate the Shield of Triumph.
(Everyone but Carter and Ruby stare at her blankly)
Nia: seriously? Were the only three who know that? Oh my god I’m young.
Lillian: yes. Yes you are. But more the point. Mr Ackerman. Would it work?
Brainy: theoretically yes. But from what Nia’s told me about that show it could leave Samantha vulnerable and temporarily depowered.
Mon El: I’ll bring Samantha back here, put here under a sun lamp and then fly back to cover Kara.
Alex: what about us? We’re Esme’s moms. She needs us.
Kara: you need to stay here. Help Cat Morgan look after Ruby and the twins and keep an eye on Lillian.
Alex: like hell we will-
Kara: this is not up for debate. The best thing you can do for Esme right now is stay out of it and let us rescue her.
Alex: but-
Mon El: she’s right. We’re all worried about Esme. But you and Kelly being there won’t be helpful.
Alex: we’re her mother’s.
Mon El: I know. That’s why you can’t be there. You’re not thinking clearly. It’s not a bad thing. In fact it’s extremely commendable. But it is a liability. Trust me. If it was Eddie and Tony you’d be benching us and you’d be right for it.
Kelly: he’s right Alex. You know he’s right.
Alex (reluctantly): okay. Okay fine. Fine. But bring her back. You had better bring her back
Kelly: or we will never forgive you.
Mon El: we wouldn’t expect anything less.
Kara: alright for this we need to split into teams. Mon El, Nia, Brainy, James, Samantha and J’onn. With me. The rest of you. Stay here. Guard Ruby and the twins and oh fuck.
Mon El: what? What is it? What’s wrong?
Kara: we know where Lex is. We know where Lillian is. What about the other one?
Lillian: oh Lena. I forgot about here.
Kara: please tell me you killed her?
Lillian: what? No! Well. Not yet. She’s sedated. Heavily. She won’t be a problem for at least a week. If she lives that long. The dose was originally manufactured for stampeding zoo animals.
Mon El: well that’s. Helpful. I think. Shall we go?
Kara: I think we should before Lucy starts grilling her.
Lucy: don’t worry cuz in law. She’ll be answering my questions at gunpoint.
Lillian: well this is a slightly unfortunate situation.
Lucy: only for you.
Kara: everyone knows the objective. Winn’s in charge of the Tower. My team with me and-
Samantha: I don’t think I can do this. I’m still really new at this magic thing and-
Winn: Samantha. It’s okay. You can do this. I’ll be watching everything over the comms. I’m here for you. Always.
Alex: that and you don’t have a choice in the matter.
Kelly: not when our daughter’s in danger.
Mon El: we’re a team. You’ve been practicing. I’m your CO. I know you can do this. Trust us.
Lillian: you’re running out of time. If you’re going at all I suggest you go now.
Kara: c’mon. Let’s go.
(Mon El, Kara, Nia, Brainy, James, Samantha and J’onn all leave. Lucy turns to Lillian with a harsh smile on her face)
Lucy: my turn now.
Lillian: I’m in trouble aren’t I?
Lucy: yep
Lillian: ah crap.

BIOGRAPHY
Lex is the son of Lionel and Lillian Luthor; he had a good relationship with his mother up to her death and doesn't share an ounce of love for his father, who has been abusive and judgemental of him from an early age, which prompted the loss of love between the two. Lex spent most of his time at a private school, only going home during the summer, where he was miserable. He finally gained independence when he graduated from high school and went to college, excelling in business, computers, and other subjects he was interested in. When he graduated from college, he went out to work for LuthorCorp. Still, because his and his father's ideals clashed, Lionel gave Lex a portion of LuthorCorp, located in Smallville, expecting Lex to fail. Still, Lex decided to use the resources to help Smallville pull it out from under Lionel's clutches.
Though Lex is only twenty-one years old, and despite his name, he has garnered a lot of respect, mainly from people who doubted him because of his name.
Lex is nothing like his father and wants to do good in this world, though his outlook on life changes when he meets Kara Kent, a girl who is everything but ordinary.
[Note: This Lex exists in an alternate version of Smallville]

The Ugly Duckling Makes a Friend - AgentCorp Friendship Fanfic.
Lena and her family had just moved to Midvale a few weeks ago and have been the talk of the town ever since. This didn’t surprise Alex, as it was to be expected when a family as rich and influential as the Luthors suddenly moved from the big city of Metropolis to a small humble town like Midvale that people would talk. And talk they did. Though Alex was too busy with her school work and babysitting her young alien sister to really pay any attention to what the adults and peers around her had to say about a family she couldn’t care less about. It wasn’t until one after while Alex was waiting at school for her mom to pick her up after work, like she had promised, that her paths crossed with the youngest Luthor, Lena. While they may not have a lot in common, there is one thing that they did have in common and that was the fact they were the unloved sibling in their family. But was that enough for them to forget their differences and become friends or are they just too different?
---------------- The late afternoon sun cast a warm glow across Midvale High School's library where sixteen-year-old Alex Danvers sat. School had long ended, but Alex remained, one of the last students lingering due to yet another extended student council meeting. Earlier that day, she had told her adopted sister Kara that she would stay late and instructed her to go home without her. Now, she sat alone, waiting for her mother, Eliza, who had promised to pick her up after work that morning. As she gazed at a history book she should have been reading, a sense of resignation washed over her. 'She forgot about me again,' Alex thought silently. She wiped away a stray tear and added with a bitter laugh, 'I bet if Kara were here, she wouldn't have forgotten. But then again, Kara is her favorite daughter.'  She was so deep in her thoughts that she did not see the girl walk up to her until she tapped on her shoulder, scaring her in the process. "Whoa. Hey, I didn't mean to scare you," the girl said calmly with her hands raised to show she meant no harm. "I'm Lena, the new girl. I saw you sitting by yourself and thought I might keep you company, is that cool with you?"
Alex eyed her cautiously. She was a short, pale-skinned girl with long raven hair who looked to be around Kara’s age of sixteen and clearly rich. She nodded her head slowly. 'Yeah, sure; why not.' She shrugged.
"Thanks," Lena said as she took a seat across from her. "So, how are you? How was school?"
"I’m well, and school was school. You?" Alex asked with another shrug.
"I’m good, thanks. School was okay. I passed all my end-of-term tests with high scores, so I’m happy with that," Lena answered with a proud smile.
"Well done," Alex congratulated her sincerely.
"Did you have any tests this week?"
"No, they’re all next week. There was a moment of silence before Alex spoke again. 'So, why are you still at school so late?' She asked. 'I mean, you just told me you’ve done all your tests. So, you don't have to study. And just by looking at you, I can tell your family is obviously rich. I’m surprised you don’t have people tripping over their feet to get you home to your mommy and daddy." Alex asked with clear disdain.
Instead of taking offense to her comment like Alex thought she would, the girl just laughed. “I was not always like this,” she said, gesturing to her outfit. “I was adopted by the Luthors, who just love to flash their wealth and money around. But between me and you, I would rather wear what you have on than this ridiculous get-up." She admitted, pointing to Alex's ripped skinny jeans and t-shirt that had some rock band on it that her father gave her before he died. She spoke with just a hint of an accent that Alex knew was not American. “But then again, anything is better than this.” She added with a laugh as she pointed to her pencil skirt and blouse.
“That’s true.” Alex agreed with a small grin.
“The reason I’m here so late is because my Chess Club meeting ran overtime. We’re getting ready for the big Interschool Chess competition at the start of next term, and Lillian, my adopted mother, refused to pick me up after she had picked up her golden boy, Lex, from his polo practice. Her reasoning being Lex had to go home and have an ice bath, and she didn’t want to ‘waste their time' by picking me up because I ‘chose’ to stay at school late.” She answered with a sneer. "But if I even mention leaving the team, she loses it. So, it's a lose-lose situation, really."
"But wait, isn't your brother old enough to get his license and drive himself around?” Alex asked.
“Yes, but Lex doesn’t have to do anything with mother dearest around.” Lena explained with a roll of her eyes.
“What about your father? Why can’t he pick you up?”
“Lionel? He’s too busy being the CEO of LuthorCorp to notice anything else. And even if he wasn’t, he’s too busy with his flavor of the month to care. The Luthors like to fool the world into believing that they are a tight-knit family, but I can promise you; it is all for show.” She answered with hidden pain in her voice that Alex knew too well. The pain of feeling unloved.
“I kind of understand how you must be feeling,” Alex said, feeling like she had finally found someone who understood her pain. ‘Maybe, I can make a friend that knows what it feels like to be neglected by their parents.’ She thought to herself. ‘Not that anyone should ever go through this.’
“You do?” Lena questioned, surprised.
“Yeah.” Alex sighed. “In case you didn’t know, I’m the student president, and well, the student council meetings also have a history of running late, like today. So, I told my sister to take the bus home because our mom said she would pick me up after work tonight, but I guess she forgot again.” She told Lena, “Oh, I’m Alex, by the way.”
“I know, we share the same third period AP Science class with Mr. Smith.” Lena informed her with a kind smile.
“Oh, I never noticed. Sorry.” Alex said apologetically, feeling a little guilty, but Lena just smiled.
“That’s okay, Alex; really. I usually sit at the back of the room, and because of my new last name, I’m never called upon during class, so not many people notice me, which is great.” She assures her in a gentle voice. “I’m just sorry that your mother can’t see how wonderful you are. But I know for a fact that one day she will.” Lena promised with deep conviction in her voice.
“Thanks.” Alex replied, not knowing what else to say and honestly not believing that her mother would ever see her or her greatness, as she felt she would always be living under the shadow of her alien sister. “May I ask how old you are?”
“Thirteen, I turn fourteen next year.” Lena answered with another proud smile. "You?" She asked in return.
"That's pretty young to be entering high school," Alex said, surprised by her age.
"Well, with my high intellect, thirst for knowledge, and my new last name, I skipped a few grades,” she explained with a blush.
"That’s cool that you got to skip a few grades,” Alex commented. "And I’m sixteen, turning seventeen in a few weeks. My mother doesn’t like the idea of teenagers driving cars and says, 'that's the adults’ job.'” Alex said with a shake of her head.
“Yeah, have you noticed that adults are always expecting their children to do better than they did when they were young and get really mad at them when they fail to meet their high expectations? I mean I know I will never meet Lillian’s expectations, only Lex will do that.” Lena said with barely hidden distaste.
"Damn, if that isn’t true. I probably won’t ever meet my mother’s exceptions either, that will always be my sister. Now, I’m not saying I hate her. I do not hate Kara. I just wish my mother viewed us as equals, you know?" Alex asked, desperate for someone to understand her.
"Yeah, I do. But I have come to terms with the fact that Lillian will never love me as much as she loves her Lex," Lena said with a sad little shrug. "The only thing I am grateful for is that their money helps feed my need for higher education." She acknowledged. “What would be your favorite attribute?” She asked, changing the subject. “Mine’s obviously my IQ, which is higher than Lex’s IQ.”
Alex thought for a moment. “Probably my eidetic memory would have to be mine; I don’t know what my IQ is, but I can read and memorize 20,000 words a minute.” She bragged with a grin. It felt good to be able to brag about her abilities as she rarely, if ever, got the chance to do it.
“Those are two pretty cool attributes you have. And hey, with a memory and skill like that, you could get into places like MIT, Stanford, even Harvard. I also bet your IQ is super high, you must be like Einstein level smart,” Lena exclaimed in a loud voice, only to be shushed by the librarian.
Alex’s grin widened with a blush. “I wish I were that smart! But I’m aiming to get into Harvard to study medicine. It’s one of the hardest schools to get accepted into.” She informed Lena, still feeling proud at the young girl’s compliment. "My mother wants me to study science like her, but I want to be a doctor and help people. I guess that’s another thing about me that disappoints her," Alex said just as her phone beeped with an incoming message.
Mom (4:00 PM): Hey sweetie, hope school went well! I’m sorry but I can’t pick you up tonight, staying late at work. I will get Kara to pick you up soon. Lots of love, Mom xx.
Alex (4:01 PM): Okay.
“Hey, are you okay?” Lena asked, concerned.
“I’m fine, it's just my mom letting me know what I already guessed. She forgot her promise and won't be picking me up,” Alex said.
“That's just fucking crap!” Lena exclaimed with anger. “Are you sure you’re okay? I’m here for you, and it’s okay if you aren’t. I won't judge you either way,” she assured Alex, worried about her new friend.
“Yes,” Alex answered with a fake smile. “Thanks.”
"Can I tell you a little about me?" Lena asked her politely, deciding to change the subject instead of pushing her to talk.
Alex nodded her head. “Yeah, sure.”
"As you might be able to tell, I was not born here in the States. I was actually born in Ireland. When I was growing up, I only had my mother; no father. My mother’s name was Kieran McGrath, and she was the only hero I ever had. She was a kind and loving soul. I loved her dearly and miss her every day."
“What happened to her if you don’t mind me asking?” Alex asked.
“No, I’ll tell you. I was about four years old when my mom decided to take me to the lake near our house for a picnic as it was a great day for it. Nice and sunny. After lunch, she wanted to go for a swim, but I hadn’t been feeling well that day, so I didn’t join her and stayed on the shore to watch her. I remember her smiling for the first time in what felt like a long time as she bent down to kiss me on my cheek before she ran into the water laughing. She had such a beautiful and carefree laugh,” Lena said with a smile and a faraway look in her eyes as she relived that fateful day. “When my mother was up to her waist deep in the water, she turned around to wave at me one last time with this big grin on her face. She was so happy and radiant. That was the last time I ever saw her before she died,” Lena explained.
“How did she die?” Alex asked, shocked.
“She drowned,” Lena answered numbly.
“Oh damn. That’s terrible,” Alex whispered, completely heartbroken for the other girl.
“A few hours later, I was sent to live in an orphanage, and a few weeks after that the Luthors came and picked me up. And you know the drill, a rich family adopts a poor orphan child with no family of their own, to help hide any of their wrongdoings while making the family look great. Charity work, they call it," Lena said with barely hidden disgust.
“I’m so sorry for your loss,” Alex replied mournfully.
"I won’t say it’s okay because that would be a lie, but thank you anyway. When I moved to the States, they changed my name to Luthor, and I grew up with a hateful mother who never liked me, a father that tolerated me at best, and that’s whenever he could be bothered to play at being a family man. Only Lex genuinely liked me. He taught me my love for chess, reading, and all things science. He was the best brother I could ever ask for. Everything in my life was finally okay. I may not have had loving parents like everyone else, but at least I had a loving brother. Then everything changed when he went off to college. I don’t know what happened to him over there, I just know that he came home for the holidays his first year different, and he never went back,” Lena told her.
“What do you mean?” Alex asked.
“He came back changed. He was angrier. Then recently Lex’s hatred towards anything extraterrestrial became more concerning, which is why Lillian suggested we move here to Midvale and away from the new alien superhero in Metropolis, Superman.”
"That's pretty shitty that you had to move just because your brother isn’t a fan of Superman," Alex concluded with a frown.
"Yeah, it is," Lena agreed. "But that is my life. What is your story, Alex?"
"Sorry, ladies," the kind librarian interrupted. "The library will be closing soon. If you could pack up your things and make for the exit, that would be much appreciated." She said with an apologetic smile.
The girls packed up their things and moved to the front steps of the library to continue their conversation.
"My story? Hmmm." Alex thought for a moment about what to tell Lena before settling on as close to the truth as she was allowed. "Well, it isn't as long or sad as yours but here goes. My life started off normal. Both my parents were scientists, but they always had time for me, no matter how busy they got. Due to my high intelligence and eidetic memory, I was the star of my whole family, the apple of my parents' eye. And it wasn’t until last year that things started to change. It happened after my parents decided to adopt Kara following her losing her family in a house fire…”
“No, she didn't.” Lena interrupted.
"What do you mean she didn’t? Of course, she did. I think I would know how my little sister's parents died," Alex argued fiercely, concerned that Lena might have uncovered the truth about Kara and her family.
“Just stop, Alex; you do not have to lie to me. I am in a lot of Kara’s classes and I notice things about her. I know that your sister is, in fact, an alien and is probably related to Superman. Which, if she is, would make her Kryptonian. I know this for a fact because, as I mentioned before, Lex is crazy obsessed with Superman and other aliens. He spends most of his days now trying to find ways to rid the world of aliens. Also, Kara shows signs of having similar powers as him, and it’s pretty clear that she worships a different god. One named Rao.” Lena said with a raised eyebrow, changeling Alex to disagree with what she said.
“Fine! You're right. But if you tell anyone else I swear..." Alex began to threaten.
"I won’t. I promise I won’t tell anyone. Especially with someone like Lex hanging around. I would hate to put an innocent life in danger, and I’m scared to see what Lex would do if he knew an alien was living right here in Midvale, right under his nose.” Lena told her honestly.
Alex looked into her eyes, searching for any signs that Lena might be lying to her. She found nothing to indict a lie. "I believe you when you say you won’t tell anyone, but don't make me regret it." Alex said with a pointed look. "Anyway, everything was fine then Kara came crashing into my life. Literally. Her superhero cousin didn’t want her and left her on our doorstep. That was when everything in my life changed. My parents had less and less time for me. My mother is always expecting me to grow up and be mature, always expecting me to be my sister’s babysitter like I have no friends that I want to hang out with or schoolwork I need to get done. I just feel like in my mother's eyes, I have no life outside of looking after Kara. Which only got worse when my father, who gave everything he had to protect Kara, died." Alex confessed, her voice tinged with a mix of vulnerability and longing. "I've just been trying to be strong for everyone, but it's nice to talk to someone who understands."
"That's really tough," Lena said bluntly, though her empathy was still shining through.
“It is, isn't it?” Alex said with a humorless laugh.
"We both deserve better." Lena told Alex with a serious look on her face. I’m always being judged and ridiculed for being too much of a Luthor by strangers on the streets and in school. Then I go home to be compared to my 'perfect' brother and ridiculed for not being Luthor enough by mother and father. And then there is you, who has a mother who stopped seeing you and your greatness when Kara came along, which is wrong." She shook her head in disappointment. "We both deserve better."
Alex hummed in agreement. There was a moment of silence before a car horn sounded, causing both girls to jump and look around.
"There’s my sister," Alex said, nodding toward the truck parked across the street. "Are you sure you’re going to be okay? I’m sure Kara won’t mind giving you a lift home," she asked, sounding a bit worried.
Lena reassured her with a warm smile, "Yes, I’ll be fine, Alex. My friend Jack just texted me to let me know that his practice will be finished soon, and then he’ll be around to pick me up. But if you are still concerned," Lena offered, "how about we swap numbers so I can text you as soon as he picks me up? So, you know I am safe."
"Sure, that would be great," Alex agreed with a sigh of relief. She handed her unlocked phone to Lena and accepted Lena's phone in return.
"There you go," Lena said, giving Alex her phone back. "I will text you later, and I’ll see you tomorrow," she added with a shy look in her eyes.
Alex smiled. "You sure will. I have to go now, but we will talk soon. Bye, Lena."
"Bye, Alex," Lena called. "And hey, one day, we will get the family we always wanted," Lena promised her.
Lena Luthor (5:30PM): Hey, it’s Lena. I just wanted to say that I think becoming a doctor is a great idea and you will be amazing in whatever you choose to do in life.
Lena Luthor (5:31PM): Also I’m home safe. See you tomorrow.
The better Alex (5:35pm): That is very sweet of you to say, thank you. I’m glad you are home safe. See you tomorrow.
Lena Luthor (5:40pm): Do you mind me asking why Kara is allowed to drive if your mother doesn’t like teenagers driving? You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to.
The better Alex (5:41pm): No, it’s fine. Kara is allowed to drive because she’s Kara. Mom lets her get away with pretty much everything.
Lena Luthor (5:45pm):  That’s just stupid, if you are going to let one child do something then both children should be allowed to do it.
The better Alex (5:46pm):  Agreed.
Lena Luthor (5:46pm): Maybe we can complain about being the unloved sibling together?
The better Alex (5:47pm): That would be nice to have someone on my side for a change.
Lena Luthor 5:48pm):  I will always be on your side.
The better Alex (5:50pm): Ditto.                                                               The End.

not a prompt (unless you want it to be) but what are your thoughts on autistic lena and autistic kara meeting as kids at a social skills class or other autism specific setting? (just bc i have multiple lifelong friends from my autism groups)
okay so they start the social skills group when they’re 4- kara has been diagnosed for a few months and lena’s only known for about a week after the luthors did extensive psychiatric testing on her almost immediately after her adoption.
when they’re in group together, most of the other kids don’t want anything to do with lena. she doesn’t like talking to anyone so she’s very blunt and intentionally rude. she gets aggressive with the social worker leading the group and will have a meltdown almost every session.
sometimes she does bad things because she wants attention. she’ll throw things at the social worker if they leave her alone for too long or mess up the bookshelves if she doesn’t like an activity. and sometimes it’s out of lena’s control.
like when one of the boys just won’t stop trying to be her friend but lena really doesn’t want him near her so she pours her paint water over his head. or when the social worker does a story time and they read a picture book about a little girl who has a beach day with her mom and lena throws herself on the ground and flails around, screaming and crying until one of the student teachers has to pick her up and carry her out of the room. they think it’s one of her many attention grabbers but the episode lasts even after everyone’s stopped looking.
kara is super shy. she tends to hang out in the corner and ignore whatever activity is going on because she just wants to play by herself. lena likes that she’s quiet so they tend to parallel play together whenever they’re allowed.
the only part of the group lena likes is kara. as they get older kara gradually breaks out of her shyness and becomes a little extrovert. she’s very talkative but only when it comes to things that interest her. when her and lena parallel play- kara will talk a mile a minute about the barbie movies and lena will silently nod along and pretend to know what she’s going on about.
at 6, kara frequently gets in trouble for interrupting other children or jeopardizing the conversation. when she’s told she needs to stop cutting people off, kara calls the teacher a dumb dumb. she's put in time out and lena writes her a card, telling her that the teacher really is a dumb dumb and that kara has better things to say then all the other kids anyway.
because the luthors are so busy with work, kara's mom will take lena and kara to her place after group for a few hours each week and lena’s nanny picks her up from there. lena loves going to kara’s house because her mom gives them good snacks like gummies and chips instead of the all natural healthy garbage lena gets at home. kara also has a play structure in the back yard. her and lena will swing together and info dump back and forth- typically lena will talk about chess history and kara still talks barbie movies.
when social skills group doesnt ‘work’ and lena is still unmasked and acting out at home, the luthor’s send her to ABA to get her under control. by the time they’re seven, lena’s behavior shifts and instead of screaming and fighting whenever given instructions she doesn’t want to follow during group, she becomes placid and blank and will follow along the way she’s supposed to. she doesn’t try to engage with the other kids the way she’s being taught, or become friendly with the teachers, but she’s well behaved enough that she’s no longer getting in trouble with the people leading the class.
when they enter middle school, lillian pulls lena from the social skills group because she deems lena too old to still have social struggles. lena spends most of her time unknowingly dissociated. she’s quiet and well behaved at home, does what she needs to avoid being punished, and avoids her parents as much as she can. she behaves the same way at school though none of her teachers ever notice anything is off. even when lena turns in writing assignments about abused children running away from home or aliens being raised by neglectful human parents, nobody bats an eye. as she gets older, lena isn’t sure if it’s because they truly didn’t notice or if they just didn’t want to.
during seventh grade, their guidance counselor tries to connect some of the autistic or otherwise neurodivergent students through an after school support group. lena and kara are both reccomended for it-- kara goes because it gives her something to think about other then the recent death of her parents. lena goes becuase the more time she can spend away from home the better.
lena and kara again gravitate towards one another. during sessions, they'll both ask to use the bathroom or see the nurse around the same time, then hide out in a staircase for the next thirty minutes and info dump or gossip to each other.
lena never really tells kara about how she's being treated at home. occasionally she'll drop in a random, vauge detail that alludes to something graphic, then skip right over to the next thing. from that, kara gathers a sense of what's going on. she never asks about it though, for fear that lena might get mad at her and not want to be friends anymore.
and they'd of course stay best friends into high school and beyond, even after they're no longer in autism related groups.

Kara/Lena adopt Superboy AU Notes (Part 1)
I’m finally delivering on the content for this Supercorp AU
Tumblr media
This is a Kara Danvers/Lena Luthor and Superboy (Kon-El) centric story. Specifically focused on exploration of one's identity and how you define yourself with the many aspects of your life and choices you made as well as what you consider important and precious to you. The effects of being constrained by how you were born and finding those who love you for who you are and don't ask you to change the core of your being to fit in. — this is not an action packed story at all.
Here are some of the ideas I have for this or things I thought Kon had in common with Lena and Kara that I find compelling.
Lena concepts:
Lena gets to know another Luthor, her biological nephew, who isn’t a trash person and is someone to not just for her to protect but who’s existence assures her that it isn’t blood that makes someone bad and maybe she isn’t so different from other people and she’s not “irredeemable”. Sometimes he reminds her of her older brother when he was kind to her growing up. Likewise, everyone usually sees the Lex in Kon as an inherently bad thing and thus he learns to hide it and hate himself for it. Lena presents an alternate because she remembers bittersweetly a simpler time when she looked up to her brother. Not everyone sees the Luthor genes in him as a threat, Lena finds it comforting to be able to help someone like her in a way she was never helped as a young girl.
Lena thinks she can’t interact with kids well, much less the kid Lex had grown in a lab, but she totally warms up to him and can talk to him about familial rejection (via Clark) and if it’s because he’s a Luthor and if that makes him wrong. Is it because he’s artificial? Is it because he’s some strange illegitimate lab child? Smothering this kid with love and protection.
Plus Kon is like Kara in more than just being kryptonian but also in dorkiness. Lena’s life is just trying to wrangle an overpowered golden retriever and her lab puppy. She can’t stay mad at them for long.
Lena finding she is capable of loving and being loved and being with Kara makes it harder to ignore the crush she has on Kara. They talk together about love and acceptance now they have a shared kid they don’t want to hide personal things from that could later hurt him and many things become open secrets in their now shared house. Soon enough, it becomes obvious she needs to be truthful with Kara about her own feelings for her.
Lena could learn about the difficulties of hiding being an alien that Kara had to deal with and the onslaught and exhaustion of developing powers in young kryptonians. She gets to see first hand what it does to a child and wonders how that must have affected Kara’s emotional development and sense of self.
Lillian and Lex won’t get anywhere near this kid if Lena has something to say about it. Lena knows what it’s like to be the odd one out in a family and for people to reject you for simply existing from other people's sins
Kara concepts:
Kara recounts how she felt like a failure waking up on earth to find out Kal had grown up without her. Now she can maybe make peace with that by taking in Kon even if everything that motivates her choices with him is primarily for kons sake.
Kara can share with another person krypton's history and culture which is something she’s had to keep seperate from her primary identity for years now *cough* it’s almost like she’s an immigrant who has to hide her identity and culture to be accepted and you could use that in the story *cough*
Kon lived through being created as a lab rat and the only living experiment left. Kara could sympathize with his own grief from her experience with survivors’ guilt.
Being open with Kon so that he doesn’t feel that same overwhelming pressure when she was told to hide with a human family also gives room for Lena to learn more about the world Kara came from beyond what she knows from interviews from Superman. Having Kara speak openly about her life on Krypton is much more personal and feels much more real than any article could do.
Teaching Kon how best to control his powers and her and Lena being able to have the resources for him to do so safely
Alex is very alarmed by the new addition to the family, mostly because how shitty Clark was in relation to the kid. From her perspective, this is not the first time the guy has dumped an unwanted kryptonian child on someone else’s doorstep. Whatever, she gets to buy leather jackets for her new nephew and be scary overprotective of him. “I don’t care if you think you’re nearly invulnerable at your age, do you have ANY IDEA what type of trouble your mother got us into when we were growing up? Or even when she just started hero work?”
Conner Kon-Cepts:
His sort-of-aunts can be his adoptive moms and be much better to him than his biological dads ever were to him in the comic canon. Kon actually being allowed to be close to other Superman family members!!! I need it like the air I breathe. Kon could get to know a Luthor that isn’t trying to hurt him or use him. Someone who defies part of why (Kon thinks) Superman could never accept a thing like him.
(I have too many things to say to put in a brief bullet point just know that he’s my fav little boy and I think that he deserves parents who would love him unconditionally and Lena and Kara deserve to live a slower life where they can be cute and domestic)
(If he’s raised by these two then I can give a solid reason as to why we just ignore all the blatant misogynistic and horny writing from the 90s comics that made me really uncomfortable and didn’t completely fit with his given backstory especially with how over the top the specialization was. It helps make up for that)
Kon has to deal with being constantly compared to his two genetic fathers mirroring how Kara and Lena both are constantly being compared to Superman and Lex Luthor as they are the female counterparts of those two more infamous members in their respective families
Kara and Kon have very complementary stories and could become what the other needs to fill a hole in each of their hearts. Canon is way too personally tragic. I’d rather have a bittersweet world that’s also soft so I can spend more time with slow paced character analysis.
(In the beginning, Kon’s much more timid given he’s still so young and is coping with being rejected by superman. The tone at the beginning of the story is very serious. As the story unfolds, kon will loosen up to be goofier like his comic counterparts personality)
Both Clark and Lex don’t deserve this kid in any way. If all they are gonna do is mistreat or neglect him in their own ways, Kon is better off with his aunts.
Conclusion:
Kara and Lena can be happy together by fully trusting themselves with each other in domestic bliss for once AND Kon doesn’t have to cry his eyes out knowing he’s an unwanted experiment child who is “undeserving” of family and home who never got to experience childhood
Everyone who's always saying “you can’t trust a Luthor” better shut their trap when Kara walks in with Kon-El Luthor, her newly adopted son, and her fiancé, Lena Luthor. These new moms will tear you apart if you try to instill that internal hatred of being a Luthor in their son’s young mind.
Kara and Lena both defying what people say about them and instead raising a well adjusted boy from both their warring families.
Kon is gonna be raised by a true power couple.
DC refuses to deliver on giving this boy a home or parents so I’m gonna do it instead. Just look at the family they could be together:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(FYI: This has nothing to do with the version of Superboy in the Young Justice cartoon TV show, so if you’re only familiar with that you may be a bit confused about this Superboy who that one was loosely based on. This whole punk fitted kid is indeed a real character and I stay pretty close to his original design from 1993.)

A meeting with a Luthor.
Supercorp, Kara Danvers x Daughter!Reader, Lena Luthor x Daughter!Reader, Lillian Luthor x Granddaughter!Reader
Word count: 1650.
It’s becoming a thing. Seeing Lillian, you mean. It shouldn’t. It’s insane and weird and completely out of line, but still, a thing.
Like she knows exactly what you do, when you do it, and how you do it, the day when you don’t have anything planned -no dates, no L Corp, no training- she shows up at your school. This time she didn’t even leave the black car she was in, she just lowered the car window, and nodded at you. It didn’t even take convincing this time, just a nod, and you were in the car on the way to a restaurant.
“Grandmother.” You open the door and slide in.
“Granddaughter.” She tilts her head, and a little-tiny-really-small smile comes to her lips. “I was hoping you were having a free day so we could go have dinner together.”
“Dinner sounds great.” You agree, putting your backpack between your feet, and fasting your seatbelt. “I’m always down for food.”
“Of course you are.” She gives the driver directions, and out you go.
It’s a different restaurant this time. Fancier. You almost feel bad for being in your school T-shirt -like you had any other option- but Lillian waltzes in without a care for your appearance, and you follow, starting not to care too. If the Lillian Luthor doesn’t care about you walking in a fancy restaurant in your sneakers, it’s not you who are going to.
“I thought we could try some Greek food today.” She says, showing you the table, and you agree with your head.
It’s not like you never tried Greek food before. One of Lena’s favorite food is Moussaka, and somehow you think Lillian knows this, and somehow you think she brought you here, because she can’t exactly have Lena here with her without ending in a fight.
“Cool.” You sit on the table across from her. You let her order the food, she knows she has to order more food than if you were a normal teenager, so you don’t interfere. She is the one paying for it, anyway.
“Created something interesting lately?” Lillian asks, and as far as small talk goes, you rather she had started off with a lighter topic, but you shrug, sipping on your water.
“Haven’t been in the lab in a while.” You feel it in your bones when you say that. You haven’t been to L Corp in more than a month, which feels completely out of character for you.
“Oh, I hope you haven’t lost interest in science. You’re very good at that.” She says, and you look down, blushing in embarrassment. God, why do you always feel so flustered whenever Lillian throws a random compliment at you? “But I guess for a kid the superhero part is more exciting.”
“Um, no. I mean-” You think about it for a second. You’ve always wanted to go out and go supering with your momma, saving National City and feeling like you’re doing something good for the world. And honestly, when the world was at stake -not your world, but still- you went supering and it was fun. It was great, actually. But you’ve always liked science, robotics, and experiments a little more. Science was always there for you, even when you were terrible at controlling your powers, and even when your powers weren’t there at all. “I’m still interested, I just-I-Um-Have other stuff to focus now.”
And ‘other stuff’ herself, just walked into the restaurant with her parents right behind her. Maya looks at you, and you two lock eyes, while their parents talk to the host. Somehow your cheeks get even more flushed at the sight of her, and your heart skips a tiny beat. What are the odds?
It wasn’t supposed to happen like this. Actually, it wasn’t supposed to happen at all. The whole idea was to never ever in your life have Lillian Luthor, your girlfriend and -worst of all- your girlfriend-Luthor-hater’s parents in the same space. But somehow, here you are.
“Of course.” Lillian agrees, after following your eyes, and landing in the same place. “I see you’re still seeing the Rose girl.”
“Mhm.” You agree, looking back at the table. You sip on your water, just to have something to do.
“Should we invite them to dine with us?” She asks politely and you snap your head at her, at the sound of that.
“We should not. No. Rao, please, don’t.” You beg, shuffling in your chair uncomfortable. Lillian was never once the sociable type. Why the hell is she suggesting asking them to join you? It’s like… She knows. Oh. There’s a little tinkle in her eyes. A little too murdery for your liking. “Do you know them?”
“We have crossed paths before, yes.” She admits, with a little nod. “Mr. Rose is a very unsophisticated man, if I must say. A lawyer who fights only for himself. But I guess most of them do.”
“I don’t wanna hear this. It’s not my problem.” You say, a little too aggressive for your own liking, but apparently Lillian doesn’t care. She’s used to much worse.
“I would think it was, given they were so ungrateful after you saved their daughter’s life.”
“Well, they only know me as a Luthor, so-” You shrug. “Can’t really blame them for not liking me, can we?”
“I suppose not. The Luthor name has seen better days.” She sighs, and drops the subject as soon as the waiter comes in with the food. Lillian points at the Moussaka, with her head. “Lena used to like that.”
“She still does.” It’s the first thing you pick up, and her smile comes this time.
You finish eating, and while Lillian pays for dinner you make your way to the bathroom, before leaving the restaurant. You are not trying to listen to them, you really aren’t, but when you pick up Lillian’s voice saying ‘Mister Rose’, you can’t hear anything else anymore.
“Lillian Luthor.” It’s Mr. Rose’s voice. Oh no. This is bad. Too bad.
“Just thought I would introduce myself to your daughter.” Lillian says. “She is dating my granddaughter, after all.”
“Oh, I’m-Well-I-” Maya chokes on her words, and you feel bad you’re not there to protect her. Although you think if you were, it would probably be worse for her. “I’m Maya.”
“Yes, you are, dear.” Lillian says again, and you pray to Rao she’s going to walk out of there and leave all of them alone. “Mr. and Mrs. Rose, I hope the next time you meet my granddaughter you can be more respectful towards her, provided she didn’t exactly choose to be born a Luthor.”
“We know Luthors very well, they are born evil.” It’s Mrs. Rose’s voice that you hear now.
“I would’ve believed so. But that girl doesn’t exactly meet these criteria. So, I would appreciate you having a little bit more care about what you say to her and how you treat her.”
“Is that-Is that a threat, Mrs. Luthor?” Mr. Rose tries to pretend he is unaffected, but you hear his heart almost beating out of his chest.
“Please, don’t be ridiculous Roger.” Lillian adds a little scoff to his name. “We both know that if I was threatening you, you wouldn’t have to ask me that.”
Oh Rao, no. That was a threat.
“Please, enjoy your dinner.” She adds a little later. “It was nice meeting you, Maya.”
Nothing more is said, and you suspect she has finally stepped away from their table. That’s when you leave the bathroom, though you have finished your business long ago. You make your way out of the restaurant, to meet Lilian there, waiting for you. You both slide back in the car in silence.
“Should I add Greek food to your list of favorite foods?” Lillian asks, like she actually has a list of your favorite foods. You know what? She might as well have a whole list of your favorite things.
“You shouldn’t have done that.” You look at her. She initially looks confused, but then it sinks in. “Did you forget I have super hearing?”
“I have to admit, yes.” Lillian confesses, pressing her lips together.
“You threatened them.”
“I did no such thing.” She defends herself and you roll your eyes. Both to the lie, and to the phrase you have heard Lena saying so many times. How annoying it is finding resemblance between them.
“Saying that you are not threatening someone is the definition of a threat. You of all people should know that. I would’ve thought you have threatened several people in your life.”
“Well, my threats never sound like that. So you have nothing to worry about.” She looks to the front, like she doesn’t want to talk about that anymore, but still adds. “Should anything happen to them, I guarantee you, it was not my doing.”
“So, you promise?” You ask and she turns her face to you again. You lift your little finger in front of your face, and she sighs.
“This is a childish pact.”
“It’s an oath, nonetheless.” You don’t move. She stares at your little finger and breathes heavily. It takes her a few seconds, and reluctantly she intertwines her little finger with yours.
“Then, I promise.”
You smile looking at Lillian’s finger intertwined with yours. What are the odds, right? You feel the car stopping, and you unattach your fingers, looking at your house behind you. You unfasten your seatbelt, pick up your backpack, and leave the car. Before closing the door, you look at her, still inside.
“You can add Japanese food to my list of favorites.”
“I know a fine Japanese restaurant.” She says, almost to herself, like something she should remember, a plan.
“We should go there next time.” You smile and salute her off. “Grandmother.”
Lillian smiles a little, and tilts her head at you. “Granddaughter.”

Lena and Lillian's relationship has been so compelling I will be truly devastated if she dies.
Like, Lillian wasn't the best to Lena but she got this kid against her will that looked identical to the woman her husband cheated on her with and this kid was superior to her own son in every way and yet Lillian clearly grew to love her. And much of the mistreatment was actually because Lillian wanted Lena to follow in her footsteps.
And again not justifying her behaviour just saying that she clearly loved her in her own messy Luthor way. I mean, since the moment we met Lillian in 2x5 she was always making sure Lena was safe (she threatened those weapon guys to make sure of that) and after that, almost every episode she was in she was doing her evil stuff but again, make sure nothing happened to Lena.
The bad thing is that she used to choose her ambitions first but always with hope that Lena would join her. And evidently Lena also grew to love her, even after everything so even if Lena has a new family with her friends it would be heartbreaking to see her lose her last family member. I hope it doesn't happen, I hope she makes it. Lillian will never do a 180 on her behaviour but I think her staying in Lena's life being snarky once in awhile would be a good ending for them. I'm glad they're giving that relationship an ending but I'm crossing all my fingers and toes is not a tragic ending.
Lillian has to begrudgingly attend the supercorp wedding after all ;)
For real. That slow motion shot of Lena lifting Lilian into her arms amid the rubble hit me like a ton of bricks. It's a testament to their story that Lilian can be absent for months at a time, yet still have that kind of impact.
What a shame that the little we saw of Earth Prime Lilian was so heavily focused on Lex ... I really wanted to know more about how she and Lena relate on this earth, and what memories she has of her daughter.
I want to think that Lena's series ending won't involve her losing a second mother in such violent circumstances. Without sugarcoating how destructive and manipulative Lilian was as a parent, their relationship did evolve - stayed interesting across the seasons! - and her loss would still be devastating to Lena. :(
How lucky were we to have this pair. <3

scar
Kara is not mysterious.
She’s not, though she makes a valiant attempt at it. She’s secretive and brilliant and more than talented at putting on an act, but she’s not mysterious. While there are dozens of things that don’t make sense about her, she has a refreshing habit of wearing her heart on her sleeve, consequences be damned, and even if Lena doesn’t understand what Kara does, she certainly can follow why.
Which is why the eyebrow thing is so…confusing.
(Perhaps the more accurate word is frustrating, frustrating that Lena can’t figure it out unlike some of Kara’s other idiosyncrasies.
Understanding Kara’s preference for fatty and sugary foods was simple enough. Her Kryptonian physiology meant that fats and sugars took longer to break down, leaving her feeling full longer. Her partiality for movies with happy endings also made perfect sense—after all, who would wantto have more tragedy in their life? Even her habit of listening for Alex’s heartbeat every night before bed made sense; it had been how she’d fallen asleep when she first landed. But the eyebrowthing…)
Lena studies Kara as she settles into bed, watching her take her time to remove her glasses and run her fingers through her hair. The lamp on Lena’s side of the bed (it still leaves her a little breathless whenever she thinks things like that—whenever she notices the second toothbrush in the bathroom or nearly trips over one of Kara’s boots still laying where she kicked them off carelessly the night before) is still on, illuminating the thick file Lena’s been going through steadily for the past hour or so, waiting until Kara got back from dealing with the rogue alien causing a ruckus downtown.
“What?” Kara asks when Lena continues to stare rather than put out the lamp or put her work away. “Is there still gunk in my hair? I washed it out as best I could but—”
“—why do you do that?”
Kara blinks.
“…uh, wash my hair?” she asks, frowning as she settles back onto the pillows, looking over at Lena with playfully narrowed eyes.
“No. Why do you do that?” she asks again, this time raising her hand to press her fingertips right above her left eyebrow, attempting to demonstrate Kara’s inexplicable behavior. “You touch your scar before bed every night.”
“Do I?”
“You don’t realize you’re doing it?” Lena asks incredulously, her eyebrows rising. She puts the thick file away, shifting so that she’s more settled against the pillows and is facing Kara. “Though maybe it makes sense. I suppose someone like you wouldn’t be all that used to scars.”
“I don’t touch it because I’m not used to scars, Lena,” Kara laughs, leaning over and pressing a kiss to Lena’s temple. She’s being annoyingly calm about it, either not realizing or not caring that this one unexplainable habit has been driving Lena nuts since she first started spending the night. “It’s just…comforting.”
“Comforting?” Lena repeats blankly, not quite sure what Kara could possibly mean. She doesn’t like drawing comparisons between herself and Kara—that’s just begging for a downward spiral, who could possibly want to be compared to Supergirl?—but in this one instance, she can’t help herself. Lena has a great deal of scars (and she allows herself a moment to be poetic as she thinks of all the metaphorical scars Lex and her parents have left on her) and she hates them all. There’s the thin white scar on her left index finger, where she accidentally cut herself while cooking, a careless moment brought on by the first news reports about Lex’s plots against Superman. There’s a darker, misshaped scar on her right knee, where she’d landed on hard concrete after a particularly brutal lesson on ‘how to be a Luthor.’ (Lillian had been horrified by the incident—by her own ability to do such a thing to a child or the very sight of bright red blood rolling down that child’s leg—and had apologized for it later, lavishing Lena with attention and care, very vigilant from that moment on to physically treat her gently, even as the emotional abuse continued.) And of course there’s the scar below her ribcage, which she doesn’t remember the exact details of, just knowing it involved tequila and bad choices. This scar she’s come to love; Kara has not once allowed the opportunity to kiss that scar go by.
Lena doesn’t like any of her scars. They only serve as a harsh reminder of who she was, and she rather likes the person she is now. But Kara’s looking at her softly and her eyes are so blue and Lena has to admit that if someone asked her right in that moment, she’d say her girlfriend was absolutely mysterious.
“Why?” she asks, even though every part of her is screaming that she can figure it out later—just like all the other things—even though a part of her believes she’s showing exactly how invested she is, just how important Kara is to her, and vulnerability is one scar Lena’s still not quite sure how to feel about. (When she’s feeling more poetic, she can admit that it’s not a scar at all, not yet. It’s a deep and still bleeding wound, and she thinks with Kara’s help it might heal into a neat thin line rather than the jagged edges for which she has a propensity.)
“On Krypton…” Kara begins slowly, reaching out to take Lena’s hand, threading their fingers together and gently running her thumb over Lena’s skin. It’s a mindless gesture, but one that has turned into a moment to latch onto—yet another simple thing that can take Lena’s breath away. “I had no powers on Krypton. I was…normal.” Kara pauses long enough to take a deep breath she doesn’t need, shuffling over enough that her entire body is pressed up against Lena’s, hand never ceasing its ministrations. “I could get hurt, bleed, become so exhausted that I wanted nothing more than my bed, any day, any time. I didn’t need kryptonite or a rogue alien to make me feel like everyone else.”
“You got the scar on Krypton,” Lena guesses, unable to help the track of her eyes. Realizing there’s not point to pretending, she reaches up with her free hand and gently runs the pad of her thumb over the scar, watching as Kara’s eyes flutter shut.
“I was young when I got it,” she all but whispers. “I’m not sure exactly how. I remember it involved my father and uncle and one of their experiments.” She laughs a little, lost in another world—a long since lost world. “My father petitioned the Science Guild to allow me to join as soon as possible, but they wanted to wait until I was a little older. So my father and uncle had me work with them in secret—my mother was furious when she found out.” She laughs again, opening her eyes and meeting Lena’s gaze steadily. “I remember her lecturing me as she cleaned me up—didn’t even allow Kelex near me. At the time, I didn’t think it was very fair. It’s funny,” she adds softly, not sounding amused at all, “I’d give anything to hear her yell at me again.”
“Kara…” Lena tries, but she doesn’t know what to say, doesn’t know what she cansay. How does one comfort their girlfriend over the loss of their entire planet, their family, their friends—the only life they’d ever known? She can lay here and recite as many platitudes as she’d like, nothing would take that sadness out of Kara’s eyes.
(Lena knows, she’s had her fair share of scars, understands how much pain they could still cause even though for all intents and purposes the skin had healed over, the tissue repaired itself.)
“I used to hold my mother’s necklace as I prayed to Rao every night,” Kara says suddenly, breaking through Lena’s thoughts, looking inexplicably calm and at peace. “It seemed important to do, especially when I really began coming into my powers and didn’t need sleep.”  She tightens her grip on Lena’s hand just briefly, letting out a soft sigh as she does so. “In some ways, it makes me glad I gave the necklace to Mon-El.”
“Kara, I’m sorry, but that doesn’t make sense. It was the last thing you had of your mother’s.”
“And I got it when she was putting me into a pod and saying goodbye. Carrying it around…carrying it around felt heavy. It was a constant reminder of losing my planet, of years in that pod, of nights spent crying with the Danvers…of nearly dying myself.” For the first time she looks away, apparently invested in the patterns of the curtains. “But the scar is from a moment when my uncle’s experiment went wrong and my mother cleaned me up and my father kept apologizing and snuck me a treat later.” Kara sniffs, and Lena doesn’t mention or acknowledge the tears that have rolled down her cheeks. “The scar reminds me of who I am. I like it.”
(Lena was right about one thing: Kara is not mysterious. But her notions about scars? Lena might need to rethink her stance.)
“I like it, too,” Lena says, pressing her lips to the scar above Kara’s left eyebrow in a lengthy kiss. It must be the right response—or something close to it anyway—because Kara practically sags, resting her forehead against Lena’s.
And they fall asleep just like that, heads close and hands intertwined, but not before Lena makes the mental note to never allow the opportunity to kiss Kara’s scar to go by.

Play me something beautiful
by MyCatIsMyEditor
Lena Luthor has returned to Metropolis and finds things just as bad as when she left three months before. Andrea is still angry about their break up and her brother -the most hated man everywhere- has his trial coming up in a few months. A trial she will have to give evidence at. Lena would like nothing more than to disappear until it’s all over. But then she accidentally gets the attention of Kara Danvers, and she decides maybe the next few months might not be so awful.
Kara is shocked when she sees the pianist in the video and even more so when she gets a reply. It’s no surprise to her when she quickly finds herself falling for more than just Lena’s musical talents. If only her friends and everyone else could see that Lena is nothing like her brother, and if only Lena could see she is more than just what her talent can offer the world.

okay so this episode: thoughts
honestly not awful, but the villains getting so much screen time especially with this whole lex in love plot is just awful; like we get it, the forty minutes of i love nyxly kinda got the point across
the whole thing with kara and alex: good points on both sides; alex and kelly parent her, but only kara can actually have the lives experience of trying to figure out powers, and sometimes having a little break isn’t all bad
esme and william baking literally melted my heart he’s so good with her
the party was so fun the dance scene made my weeeek
the relief when i did not have to see lex and the nyxly kiss
also i hate nyxly like she’s awful; least favourite villain personally, cause she has no real goal other than like general vengeance. at least rhea was specific like ‘you stole my son’ and non was like ‘humans suck cuz climate change’ and reign was an alien science experiment and cadmus was like ‘terrorism! cuz we’re run by lillian luthor who smiles at kitten torture’
but no literally nothing on earth ever touched her but then kara stopped her from blowing up earth and then tried to help her out of a collapsing building, nyxly was fuckin dramatic and like nooooooo and she’s like yes let’s literally use magic rocks to cause chaos kidnap a child and use a zookeeper to do all this? what? also her costume bugs me i hate it. really after six seasons we can’t get a villain who doesn’t wear black robes? what about a clown costume. or like, some glitter. or one of those inflatable t. rex costumes it’s been six years give me something
brainy having to go to the future and cease to exist is super sad, but also i have a feeling that they’re gonna pull a barry allen crisis move and emphasize oh no he’s gonna die only to have to find a magic rock or some shiT
FINALLY AND THIS HAS BEEN PISSING ME OFF i know people don’t like William, but the dude was a fucking hero in this episode: he did absolutely everything right - he made sure esme was safe as fast as possible - and made it like a game for her so she didn’t get scared, instead of calling for help, because had he called for help before, esme wouldn’t have been able to get as far and they probably would have shot him in front of esme and that girl doesn’t need more trauma, and he kept them distracted long enough to get proof that will probably take lex down because i don’t think lex can talk his way out of a literal snuff film; he’s playing the long game and he gave his life for it.
and this is also like the first death aside from astra or jonns dad because pretty much everyone else left of their own accord
also this is probably controversial, but andrea is an asshole and i’m hoping that this will open her eyes that a clickbait title and dubious morals and short term solutions with very real consequences
also it’s kinda funny that she managed to lose her two pulitzer winners in like a month

Our love can change the world
by mari_cammi What if Kara had leaned in, or maybe taken Lena and finally told her what she felt for her, and Lena told her back? And if Lex had done something so terrible that not even Lilian could forgive him, especially after she started therapy with the craziest psychologist in all the DC world? Well, this is the story of Kara and Lena, as I think could have gone after Kara returned from the Phantom Zone. Something that happened in the show didn't happen or is a little different and I don't like the way Alex and Eliza treat Kara for a long time, so I won't be so gentle with them in the beginning, so if you don't like it don't read this FF. I hate Mon-EL and James, so as I said before don't read this FF if they are your favorite characters.
