#Cassiopeia mid build full#
It is not your objective to do more damage with Cassio, it is your objective to survive in order to be able to get your damage off.
#Cassiopeia mid build full#
Overgrowth is the difference between life and death in countless situations, where you tank the full brunt of enemy damage, then counterattack with a volley of your own. Cassiopeia has quite low base resistances, and as such, having the resists from Conditioning + Gargoyle + the % stacking passive from both Gargoyle and Conditioning, make an ocean of difference on her survivability. It should be common knowledge that the less resistances you have, the more value each individual point of resistance grants. We need not discuss inspiration secondary, I hope. The value of Resolve vs Sorcery is incomparable. Transcendence is nice, but 10AH alone does nothing to cover your weaknesses. Scorch is not needed as Cass is already a dominating force in lane and her trading style is heavy/all-in trading, not poke. Gathering Storm takes too long to come online. Learn to manage your mana rather than rely on this rune to help you.
#Cassiopeia mid build how to#
It offers zero value to a player who knows how to masterfully manage their mana pool. Manaflow Band is a "beginner trap" and a crutch. Ravenous Hunter's healing does not do much if you are dead before you can cast your abilities. The fact that she has global taunt but is incredibly difficult to take down, means she can soak a ton of pressure in fights and drain enemy resources, opening up opportunities for your team!Ĭassiopeia is already very strong in lane, and as such, does not need Taste of Blood, though it is a "nice to have in some matchups", it does nothing past 10 minutes.Ĭassiopeia struggles most past laning phase, which is when she becomes vulnerable to being bursted and one shot before she can get her damage off. It does not matter if she is immobile, if enemies come to her. If Cassio cannot be bursted, she can counterattack once tanking all enemy damage. Making Cassiopeia more DURABLE is the most important thing she needs, and it covers her weaknesses. Rather than try to amplify her strengths, this build was made to target her weaknesses and cover them - and it does so to great effect. Cassiopeia has "global taunt" and is a prime target in teamfights Cassiopeia is squishy due to low base resistances and lack of HP itemsĤ. Cassiopeia has relatively low range for a ranged championĢ. To understand why Resolve, we must understand Cassiopeia's weaknesses.ġ. Conditioning/Overgrowth are a vital part of making it work. Resolve secondary is the key to making Cassiopeia and this build truly shine, everything in this build is crafted and optimized with each item and rune working in tandem with one another. Playing her to get an early lead, then transition that lead into objectives, abusing the enemy jungler, forcing 3v3s and the like, pressuring sidelanes post lane, pushing the pace of the game and forcing enemies into objective fights, is how you play this champ. Her ability to 1v2, or 1v3 her opponents, is also difficult to match. Her sidelaning, especially with this build, is unmatched. Cassiopeia is an early game lane bully, duelist, and sidelaner, with strong teamfighting and excellent objective controlĬassiopeia is stronger the closer her enemies are to her, winning almost any 1v1 in the game with ease given proper ability usage. If Cassiopeia does not play aggressively, taking advantage of how strong she is early game, then she's wasting insane potential and the champion is being played incorrectly.ģ. Cassiopeia is NOT one of these champions. Champions that can accomplish this playstyle are Vladimir, Kassadin, and Kayle. The concept of "play safe and farm for items" simply does NOT exist anymore. She suffers counters in almost all control mage mirrors due to her lack of wave control, but on the contrary to mages has a very strong early game, strong skirmishing, excellent 1v1s throughout the game and good sidelaning. Cassiopeia does not fall into this category. There are many things about Cassiopeia's identity that need to be discussed up before we proceed.Ĭontrol mages are defined by their ability to control/manage waves and control areas of the map, but generally are weak in 1v1s, weak in early skirmishes, rely heavily on items to get going, and not strong sidelaners/duelists. Know yourself, and you will win all battles.

New Webb telescope image reveals secrets of star structure and building blocks of life To gaze at the stars is human. To be able to see them in three-dimensional detail is very nearly divine. Divine vision is what the James Webb Space Telescope has granted Earthbound scientists in a new near-infrared, detailed image of Cassiopeia A (Cas A), a stellar remnant—the clouds of gas, dust and other material left behind when a star dies. Danny Milisavljevic, assistant professor of physics and astronomy in Purdue University's College of Science, studies supernova remnants and leads a year one research team on the JWST examining Cas A. "I have spent 17 years studying stars and their titanic explosions. I've used dozens of telescopes—both ground- and space-based—covering the electromagnetic spectrum from gamma rays to radio wavelengths," Milisavljevic said. "And yet, I was still unprepared for the data that Webb has provided. I am awestruck by their quality and beauty." Cassiopeia A is the youngest known remnant from an exploding, massive star in our galaxy, which makes it a unique opportunity to learn more about how such supernovae occur. The light from its explosion first arrived at Earth 340 years ago. "Cas A represents our best opportunity to look at the debris field of an exploded star and run a kind of stellar autopsy to understand what type of star was there beforehand and how that star exploded," Milisavljevic said. Supernovae like the one that formed Cas A are crucial for life. Stars create a variety of elements, and subsequent supernovae create additional elements—everything from the calcium in our bones to the iron in our blood—and spread them across interstellar space, seeding new generations of stars and planets. "By understanding the process of exploding stars, we are reading our own origin story," Milisavljevic said. Looking with new eyes Located about 11,000 light-years away, the remnant is in the section of the sky considered to be of the constellation Cassiopeia. An arrangement of five bright stars in a "W," Cas A is invisible to human eyes from Earth but occupies the space that appears to be off to the right of the last stroke of the W. For decades, scientists have studied Cas A. Examining the structure using different wavelengths gives astronomers new insights into star anatomy, the same way infrared cameras give humans different information than cameras that see only in the visible light spectrum. The new image collected by JWST's golden honeycomb of 18 mirrors shows incredible detail. In it, mid-infrared light has been translated into visible light, allowing scientists to analyze details and structures. Great curtains of material, shaded red and orange, represent where the star's material is crashing into circumstellar gas and dust. Among those rosy swaths, bursts of pink show where the star's composite elements, including oxygen, argon and neon, are shining. For the researchers, one of the most puzzling elements of the image is the large green loop on the image's right side. "We've nicknamed it the Green Monster, in honor of Fenway Park in Boston," Milisavljevic said. "If you look closely, you'll notice that it's pockmarked with what look like little bubbles. The shape and complexity are unexpected and challenging to understand." Higher resolution images, in more wavelengths especially the infrared, give astronomers a clearer look at the intricacies of the structure. Like picking up binoculars to help resolve the colors and patterns on a bird's wing, the more detail scientists have, the more information they can infer and analyze. "Compared to previous infrared images, we see incredible detail that we haven't been able to access before," said Tea Temim, a program co-investigator from Princeton University. Dust to dust Counterintuitively, some of the most exciting matter in the picture may seem the most prosaic: dust. While the substance is irritating to housekeepers, it is intriguing to astronomers. Massive quantities of dust suffuse even very young galaxies in the early universe. It's difficult to explain the origins of this dust without crediting supernovae, which spew large quantities of heavy elements—the building blocks of dust—across space. But supernovae can also destroy dust, and it's unclear how much survives the trip to interstellar space. By studying Cas A with JWST, astronomers hope to gain a better understanding of its dust content, which can help inform our understanding of where the building blocks of planets—and ourselves—are created. "In Cas A, we can spatially resolve regions that have different gas compositions and look at what types of dust were formed in those regions," Temim said. Carl Sagan famously assured humanity that we are made of "star stuff." Milisavljevic's team and JWST's observations are helping scientist understand that process. "Webb is an incredible achievement," Milisavljevic said. "I feel fortunate to be among the first scientists to test its unrivaled power to explore the universe. I am going to spend the rest of my career trying to understand what's in this data set." IMAGE....Danny Milisavljevic’s research on the James Webb Space Telescope led to his new detailed image of stellar remnant Cassiopeia A in which infrared light is translated into visible-light wavelengths. MYTHIC CASSIOPEIA PRO
Would this buff to Zoe be enough for talented support players like Keria to pull it out in pro play at Worlds 2022?
MYTHIC CASSIOPEIA HOW TO
Of course, she won’t actually be a threat unless the support player knows how to excel on this high-skill cap champion. Now that minions killed by allied champions will also drop orbs if she’s within 1,500 range, it completely changes the circumstances for Zoe support, who now has better access to Spell Thief. T1 support Ryu “Keria” Min-seok practiced her at bot during MSI 2022 in solo queue, on top of support Ashe, which he has played at a competitive level. That, however, has never stopped pro players from trying support Zoe who does not take farm. Since enemy minions are a reliable source for Spell Thief, mid lane Zoe never had a problem stocking up. Zoe can pick up spells with Spell Thief from two sources: spell shards dropped by enemy champions after they cast a Summoner Spell or use an item’s active, or from enemy minions that Zoe kills.
(New) Spell thieves: Minions killed by Allied champions will now also drop orbs while Zoe is within 1500 range.
Heimerdinger bot, Morgana jungle, Azir top stun in T1 vs DK playoffs seriesīuffs to Zoe support in LoL patch 12.16 opens up creative possibilities Credit: Riot Games.
Nerfed for just a day, Yuumi suddenly gets buffed in patch 12.16 hotfix.
The biggest change, however, is to Spell Thief, which buffs her in the support role at bot. In this patch, the game developers are making it more rewarding for Zoe players who land Sleepy Trouble Bubble by increasing its base damage. Mages in mid that thrive are those that deal damage over time and who prefer building Liandry’s Anguish as their Mythic item, such as Anivia, Swain, and Cassiopeia. Since LoL patch 12.10’s Durability Update, burst mages have fallen out of the meta. Of all the things it could have done, Riot Games went out of its way to buff Zoe support in the latest League of Legends patch 12.16.

Killervibe + Constellations
Because everyone needs therapy and nobody is getting it. Takes place in mid Season 5.
Stargazing
By the time the Flash had saved the day with the help of his faithful friends at Star Labs, it was nearly eleven at night. Cisco was packing up to go when Caitlin poked her head around his door. "Do you have to go right home?"
"Not right away," he said, immediately ditching his plans for an hour of video games to wind down before crashing. "What's up?"
"Will you come with me?"
He followed her out into the hall. She was wearing her coat but she didn't have her purse. "Sure, where are we going?"
She pointed. "Up."
Several flights of stairs later, he panted, "This is a lot of up."
"One more flight."
"We have an elevator, you know.”
"We’ve been sitting in front of a computer all night. This is good for us.”
“Oh my god, I need to do more cardio," he groaned, unzipping his thick coat and flapping it to fan his sweaty face.
The last flight dead-ended in an access door. He said, "The roof?"
"The roof," she confirmed, unlocking it and stepping out.
The roof of Star Labs was tar-papered and pebbled, with various industrial units scattered here and there. One of the "teeth" of the building loomed high overhead.
Cisco went to the edge and peered over. There was a knee-high lip and not much else. "You know how I said that was a lot of up?" He pointed. "This is a lot of down."
"We'll be okay back here." She was wandering around until she found two plastic lounge chairs. "Aha."
He studied them. He was pretty sure some of the other scientists used to come up here and smoke pot in those, back when Star Labs was an actual lab and not a super-secret superhero hideout.
He was also pretty sure they weren't up here to smoke pot.
"Caitlin, what are we doing up here?"
She settled herself in one of the chairs with a creak of plastic. "Stargazing."
He sat down next to her. "Okay."
She didn't say anything else, head tipped back to study the stars.
He settled back with a sigh. Stargazing. Okay.
They were in a good place for it. Something about the arrangement of the city lights and the proximity to the river meant that there was very little light pollution just in this spot. It was a cold, clear night, and the stars glittered down at them. He zipped up his coat again.
He could pick out Orion, that was easy enough. And the W, that was Cassiopeia? He thought? Other than that, he was going to have to download an app.
"I've been seeing a therapist," she said abruptly.
"Well, good."
"This is my homework."
He resisted the urge to ask if she was being graded. Knowing Caitlin, she'd grade herself. "Stargazing?"
"My dad used to take me stargazing," she said.
Oh.
It had been about a month since they'd found Icicle, and other than their fight that day and a few days of her being very quiet afterwards, Caitlin hadn't shown any effects. Which, having known her all these years, was more worrying than if she'd been breaking down in the bathroom.
"She wanted me to do something that my dad and I did together."
"This is your therapist talking."
"Yes. To explore better memories." She waved a hand.
"Is it working?"
She slouched in her chair. Oh boy.
"I feel like my entire childhood was a lie."
"You just found out," he said gently. "Give it some time."
She shook her head silently.
"I know finding out that your dad was - " He struggled. "Responsible for the way that you are - " Geez, this was hard. How did therapists do it? "That was a thing," he said. "But I'm sure your dad loved you."
"How do you know? You never met him."
"Right," he said. "Icicle is not your dad. And the things he did, that's not your dad either."
"The problem is, I don't know whether it was my dad or Icicle that decided to turn me into Killer Frost."
He opened his mouth, then shut it again. He could vibe this all he wanted, but unless he managed to hit on a scene of Icicle staring in a mirror and saying, "Muahahahahahaha now I shall turn this innocent child into a cold-hearted killer like me!!!!" he wouldn't be able to find an answer to that either.
And she probably knew that.
She stared at nothing. "I don't know how I'm supposed to just move on like everything is okay."
"Literally nobody is asking you to do that."
"Maybe I am."
"Maybe you shouldn't."
She looked at him, then back at the stars.
He reached over and took her hand. It was cold in his. Hadn't she brought any mittens?
Did she even feel the cold anymore?
"Hey," he said.
She sniffled.
"You don't have to figure this out," he said. "Now or ever. I know it feels huge, this bad thing about your dad and the lies your mom told you. Don't let it eat you, okay? Why did we come up here again?"
"Stargazing," she said in a muffled voice.
"Because . . . "
"Because my therapist said."
He shook her hand.
She conceded. "Because my dad used to take me."
"And you liked it?"
She nodded silently.
"And you liked being with him?"
She nodded again.
"Tell me your dad's favorite constellation."
She frowned at him.
"Go on. Tell me."
"Gemini," she said.
"Right, and where's that?"
She pointed, and he leaned in to see where she was pointing. "That set, " she said. "Right there? You can see their two heads are the brightest stars, and their bodies down below them, and they're sort of leaning in together."
"What's their story?"
"They were twins. Castor and Pollux. Identical twins. Castor was the son of a king, and he was mortal, and Pollux was the son of Zeus, and he was immortal."
"Hang on, if they were identical . . . Right, never mind, crazy Greeks. Go on."
"They did everything together, but Castor fell in battle. Pollux begged his father to bring his brother back, or share Pollux's immortality somehow. So Zeus said they could spend half the year in the sky and half on land. So." She gestured. "There they are."
A vulnerable mortal and a powerful immortal. Inextricably linked.
Cisco had to wonder if Thomas Snow had already begun to change into Icicle when he told his daughter that story.
"How 'bout you?"
"Me?"
"Do you have a favorite?"
She turned her head away from him a little, and he wondered if this had hit some kind of sore spot. But she said, "Pisces."
"Yeah? Where is it?"
"You can't really see it this time of year, not in the city. It's too faint and too close to the horizon. The story is that Aphrodite and her son Eros were trying to escape a monster, so they jumped in the river and turned into fish. So that's Pisces. It's pretty big, and it's got some nice objects, astronomically speaking, and the spring equinox passes through there. And some of the stars have really interesting exoplanets. And - " She broke off.
"And?"
"And, um, it's my sign."
That was about the last thing he'd expected, and he let out a yelp of a laugh. "You're into astrology? You?"
"No, of course not. It's j ust, it's interesting. My dad used to read the horoscopes from the paper with me and tell me about how they were so general and people just sort of extrapolated what they wanted to hear. It's very interesting, psychologically."
He leaned over and rested his chin on her shoulder. "So what's your moon sign, baby?“
She put her hand over his face and pushed him away, and he fell back, chortling. "Okay, now do mine. You know my birthday, and you know the sign, don't front."
She rolled her eyes, but said, "Aries."
"Which is where?"
"Start with Cassiopeia, and then over - there? You see it? Sort of a curved line of three stars, and then one more off at an angle."
He squinted. Damned if he could see a ram in there. "Barely. Tell me the story."
She told him that story, then another, and another, until it was so cold he could barely feel his face or his feet. When he told her this, she admitted it was a little chilly and they should go in.
"There'll be a meteor shower in a few days," he told her as the roof access door thudded shut behind them. "You wanna come see it? If it's not cloudy, and we don't have any bad guys to catch."
She smiled at him in the darkness. "That would be great."

Locked In
Imagine being restrained to one building for the rest of your life. Imagine the fading white paint of the walls greeting you every morning and singing you to sleep every night because that is the only scenery you get to see. Your sanity will slowly start slipping away from you because loneliness ans separation are killers far more dangerous than any virus. We humans crave social interaction to grow and develop, it is a part of our life force.
Or maybe it is because you haven't seen a single ray of the golden sun or the iridescent shine of the moon in what seems like a millenia. The melodious orchestra of birdsong and the sight of graceful butterflies fluttering about vibrant flowers of spring have now been long forgotten. Rolling hills, lush green forests and the sound of the ocean waves crashing against each other are now a distant memory. All the beauties and miracles of nature have been banished to the farthest part of your mind just because you haven't laid eyes on them for so long. Now all you know is the eerie white of the walls and the piercing silence. The monotones driving you insane. Eyes and mind bursting for a splash of colour, a tune of a song.
But the thing you miss the most about the outside world are the stars. The sight of the silvery white asters against a velvety night sky will forever prosper in your mind. Ever since the dawn of literature, writers and poets have expressed their love for stars in their work. The constellations of Cassiopeia and Polaris, the positions of the North star are known by even those who have never studied astronomy because of these writings. For some unknown reasons humans have always, always loved the stars. We have always loved gazing at them on a clear night. The strange thing is that not only are the stars billions of miles away from us but they are are also thousands of light years away, meaning for all we know many of the stars we see have blown up ages ago and all we see is the cosmic dust left behind. So when we gaze up at the stars and the sky we are actually looking back in time. Maybe that is why stars are so enchanting to us, they allow us to dive deep into the past while also absorbing the beauty of it.

A/N: Hiiii everyone I'm back after a loooong time. I'm having my mid term exams at college and they have me completelt swamped. I have not had any time off but I have a week off to prepare for the next exam so I'm going to try to write more. So if anyone who reads ASOSAS is wondering I'm so sorry but if I don't get any time then the next update will probably be after my exams. In the mean time, enjoy this little drabble I wrote during the Covid lock downs in 2020. Hope you like it!

Judging by this picture of what looks like a stained glass slipper, I’d say we’re about to continue the Cinderella AU!
One of the best ways to deal with an anxiety attack is to ground oneself in the present situation. A common technique is the 54321 Method, which Carewyn doesn’t display here, but she does end up (without realizing it) evoking the idea of grounding by accenting her physical presence and encouraging Orion to take deep breaths.
All of the lines Orion spouts while Carewyn runs away are ones the Prince in Disney’s animated version of Cinderella cries, when his mysterious lady love runs from him. It amuses me to no end how in so many magical Cinderella adaptations, it takes whole minutes for the clock to strike twelve -- in the case of the animated/live action Disney versions, so many that we even get a full chase scene for the pumpkin coach in that time. 😂
Trigger warning for a brief mention of suicidal thoughts.
Previous part is here -- whole tag is here -- Katriona “KC” Cassiopeia belongs to @kc-needs-coffee -- and I hope you all enjoy!
x~x~x~x
Orion led Carewyn down the hall at a run, unable to break free of the happy adrenaline that pulsed through him. Some people in the hall outside the ballroom eyed the young king and his enchantingly striking partner curiously as they passed, but neither of the two paid them much mind. Orion rounded a corner with Carewyn, passing a large gold-trimmed grandfather clock as it tolled 11. Once they’d gotten around the corner, he opened a wall and pulled her into the secret passage behind it, out of sight from anyone who might pursue them.
Once through the passage, Orion dashed up a flight of stairs with Carewyn, up, up, up, toward the upper levels. At last, when they reached the top of the stairs, he opened another passage, which opened up onto the landing of the battlements on the top floor of Florence’s castle.
The cold winter wind gushed around them, tiny traces of snowflakes trailing through the air as Carewyn and Orion stepped out. As soon as they were outside, Carewyn gave a start at the odd smell that touched her nose. Curious, she moved out to the edge of the ramparts -- and she gasped.
The sea.
The odd smell was the salt of the spray from the Southern Sea, only a few miles from the back of Florence’s palace. It was so dark out that Carewyn could hardly see the lightless buildings between the palace and sea, and yet she could still make out the ethereal white sea foam in its grayish black depths. Its waves rushed at the shore, sounding like some kind of resonating whisper that never needed extra breath to sustain itself, and its growing and shrinking waves sparkled in the moonlight.
Carewyn exhaled, her lips spread into a wide open smile of awe. Orion came up behind her, watching her.
“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?”
Carewyn couldn’t take her eyes off of it. “It’s...it’s breathtaking.”
Orion slowly approached her, his eyes trailing along her shoulder and down her back with an oddly unreadable look. Once he’d come up just behind her, he very slowly extended a hand. It lingered uncertainly in mid-air for a moment, before it tentatively made contact with her back, exposed by the cut of her dress.
Carewyn flinched, unable to hold back a gasp of both surprise and pain. Orion pulled his hand away at once.
“Forgive me,” he said. His voice betrayed some anxiety.
Carewyn looked at him. Orion’s unflappable face had lost a lot of its color under his mask and his black eyes flickered the way her white horse’s would when it was nervous.
“I can't see any injuries,” he explained, “but I can feel them there all the same.”
His eyes narrowed a bit upon her face.
“...Who...who delivered those lashes to your back?”
Carewyn’s blue eyes rippled with sorrow. “Orion -- ”
“Who?” Orion asked again. His voice was tenser than she’d ever heard it.
Carewyn couldn’t look him in the eye. She tore her gaze away, looking out toward the sea again as she clutched the railing with both hands.
“...My grandfather,” she said at last, very softly. “I...‘acted inappropriately.’”
Orion did not respond. The silence dragged, to the point that it had become deafening. When Carewyn finally felt brave enough to look back over at Orion, she saw that he’d migrated to the railing himself a short ways away, clasping his hands very tightly together as he looked out at the sea. His head was bowed, his face largely obscured by the darkness, but he was taking very deep, heavy breaths.
Carewyn’s heart clenched. She moved to him, bringing a hand to rest on his shoulder.
“Orion, I’m -- ”
“Don’t say you’re all right.”
Orion’s voice was very soft, but harder than Carewyn had ever heard it before. It made her stiffen, her grip on his shoulder faltering -- her partial withdrawal seemed to affect Orion, making him whirl around and seize her hand in both of his, as if desperate to keep her close.
“A whip is a tool only used to cause pain -- a tool with no other use besides that,” he said. He spoke in a faster, tenser voice than normal: one that, although misty as ever, was turbulent in a way Carewyn had never heard. “Therefore it can never be used to spark any good in this world. It leaves scars that never heal -- that designate you as subhuman and your suffering as insignificant -- that make people cringe at the sight of them, wondering what crime you’ve committed or what lowly status you must be, to have earned them, when truly it says more about the person who inflicted them on you than it ever could you -- ”
“Orion...” Carewyn whispered.
Orion’s eyes were flashing with an odd emotion, one hard and blazing like a flame under a shell of hard black diamond. It took Carewyn a moment to realize it was anger.
“You’re so strong,” he said, his shaking voice very hushed and rambling even as his breathing grew more irregular. “You’ve always been so resilient, and I don’t want to demean that, but -- but you shouldn’t have to be that strong! You shouldn’t have to downplay the suffering you’ve gone through! You shouldn’t have to stay locked in the dragon’s keep and endure, and I shouldn’t have -- ”
He choked. His black eyes pulsed with emotion as he clutched more desperately at her hand and he gasped for air.
“ -- I never should’ve left you to him! I should’ve taken you away, far away, regardless of what you told me, regardless of the consequences, regardless of what your family or our countries or anyone else might do or say -- ”
“Orion!”
Carewyn pulled her hand out of his and brought both of her hands up to his face, cradling his cheeks. Orion trembled in her hold, breathing very heavily and his hands clutching at the air in front of him.
“Orion,” she whispered, “shhh...shh, shh...”
She moved in, placing her forehead against his.
“Breathe,” she said as gently as she could, slowing her breath and speech down to try to  subconsciously encourage him to follow suit. “Breathe...I’m here...I’m here...”
Orion inhaled and exhaled shakily. At first his eyes were locked on hers, flaring with more of that anger, anguish, and anxiety -- then they fluttered shut, and he threw his arms out to wrap both of them around her, cradling her against him with his arms crossed over her back and clutching at her shoulders. He breathed in and out deeply, trying to follow her rhythm as he focused on the softness of her skin and the warmth of her voice.
Finally, after a few minutes, Orion had finally regained his center of balance, his breathing softening and returning to a normal rate. He exhaled heavily through his nose, opening his eyes again to look at her.
Carewyn offered him a weak smile, both feeling relieved that he looked better and wanting to comfort him, but Orion’s face -- although once again calm -- still looked very grim as he pulled back only just enough that their foreheads were no longer touching. His gaze trailed over her smile and then around her eyes, dipping into the corners.
“Can you ever forgive me?” he murmured.
“Forgive you?” repeated Carewyn, upset. “For what?”
“Everything. For not fighting for you, for not being able to help you fight off your beast, as I promised...for being the son of the man who led the army who killed your brother...”
“Orion,” Carewyn said very firmly, “your father had no hand in Jacob’s death. He died long before he ever saw battle. And I told you to go. It’s a good thing you did. If you hadn’t gone, then you wouldn’t have been able to convince the King and Queen to come here, to consider peace...”
She trailed her thumbs gently along his cheeks.
“I should be the one apologizing to you. I should’ve told you what I really was a lot sooner.”
“I don’t think you lied anymore than I did, my lady,” Orion said rather coolly.
“It’s not the same thing,” Carewyn insisted. “Every lie you told you told so that you could pursue diplomacy and peace. Every lie I told...I told out of shame. I’d only pretended to be a lady to help get you out of trouble, at the start, but then afterwards...well...I didn’t want you to look at me differently...even though I knew deep down you would, once you learned the truth.”
Orion reached out his hands and, mirroring Carewyn, took hold of her face tentatively in return.
“You’re right,” said Orion. “I do see you differently.”
He leaned in, touching her forehead with his again.
“Before, I merely saw you as a wonderful contradiction -- a lady who was born to a family of wealth and cruelty and yet was kind and selfless almost to a fault. Now...I see you as akin to a diamond: a sparkling, precious gem, fashioned only under the hardest, most unforgiving pressure and more resilient than nearly anything else on Earth.”
Orion moved in even closer, so that their noses touched.
“A gem symbolic of purity and light...of perfection itself,” he murmured.
His gaze flitted from her eyes to her lips and back. Although he’d moved in close enough to kiss her, however, he hesitated.
Carewyn could sense his intent, and her cheeks darkened with a blush as her gaze fell down to his lips.
“I hardly think I’m perfect, your Grace.”
Orion sighed, his lips spreading into a slightly tired smile. “Your standards truly are exhausting, my lady. If you cannot meet them, I know that I surely never will...”
He made as if to pull back, but Carewyn held his face in place. Her eyes met his again, rippling with an intensity they didn’t have before.
“You needn’t worry about meeting my standards, Orion Cosimo Amari,” she said softly. “You clear them...easily.”
And before Orion knew what was happening, she’d leaned in and placed her lips up to his jawline in a tender, lingering kiss.
She pulled back after about five seconds, her eyes shining warmly up at him despite the seriousness of her face.
“I cannot stay,” she murmured, “but -- ”
Before she could say another word, Orion -- his black eyes shining with a desperate kind of longing -- tilted her head up and swooped down to cover her lips with his own. His breathing through his nose was soft but heated as he cradled her face in both of his hands, cherishing the feeling of her lips on his and being enveloped in her arms.
He broke the kiss after about thirty seconds, his black eyes half-lidded on her face.
“Carewyn, I...”
Carewyn briefly rested her forehead against his, her own face tinged with a warm flush under her robin mask, before reluctantly pulling back.
“I can’t stay,” she repeated even more gently. “The illusion the Baroness gave me will fade at midnight -- so just...just stay here. Away from the ballroom. At least until after midnight...by then, the spell Rakepick cast on you will have worn off.”
Orion’s eyebrows furrowed.
“When the lady dressed as a lioness ‘mistook me for someone else,’” he said slowly, “she’d placed a spell circle on my back. Is that so?”
Carewyn nodded. “The spell’s terms were that you’d be targeted by every weapon in the ballroom. So long as you don’t return there until after midnight...you’ll be safe.”
“But I was there with you before, and I was not harmed,” said Orion with a frown.
“The spell can only affect you. Jae guessed that if anyone else would get hurt when the weapons attacked you, then the spell wouldn’t activate...so he and his comrades, and Talbott and Badeea, they served as human shields...”
“...As did you,” Orion whispered, his eyes widening in realization. “When you kept stepping in front of me and staying close to me, while we were dancing...you were protecting me.”
Carewyn offered a rather self-effacing smile. Orion’s hands quickly returned to the sides of her neck, cradling her jawline.
“Carewyn....” he said, his calm voice touched with both adoration and the slightest edge of anxiety, “you saved my life. All while not knowing for certain that you throwing yourself in front of me wouldn’t result in you being harmed...”
“Well, I certainly hoped I wouldn’t be,” said Carewyn, attempting dry humor. “I couldn’t exactly make sure that Lord Malfoy and my grandfather wouldn’t hurt you if I’d died...”
Seeing the look on Orion’s face, she then became much more serious.
“Orion...after I learned the truth about Jacob...when I was back at the Cromwell estate...I lost myself. I lost my drive, my spirit...my reason for living. Everything I was, and everything I thought I knew, both about myself and about the path I’ve always walked.”
Her eyes fell down to Orion’s shoulder, becoming darker.
“Knowing that Jacob, the only thing in my life that gave me a reason to keep fighting and keep enduring, was dead...I lost all will to live. I didn’t just feel like I deserved to die...I actually wanted to. I deluded myself into thinking that at least then, the pain would stop. At least then...I could be with Jacob and Mum again.”
Her lips then spread into the saddest, softest smile.
“...But when your note arrived...when I read your words, reminding me of the song you taught me...even after all of the lies, even after I pushed you away, even though you were set to be crowned King and I’d never see you again...it reminded me of how much joy I’ve known, even without Jacob there with me. The memory of you, and my friends, helped pull me out of that despair. And then when I found out what Grandfather wanted to do to you -- found out that he planned to destroy you and everything you’d ever dreamed of, for Florence and Royaume...I couldn’t do nothing, I just couldn’t.”
Her eyes gained a stronger, more passionate glint as she met his again.
“You saved my life, Orion. You helped me fight my beast, just like you promised. You gave me hope when I was most ready to throw everything away.”
Orion’s black eyes were very wide upon her face. As he stared at her, his eyes softened, melting in a strange blend of sadness, affection, and pride.
“Carewyn...”
Carewyn leaned in to kiss him chastely on the lips.
“I know it’d be impossible for us to make a life together,” she said seriously, “but I told you I’d fight for you...and I always will.”
Orion considered her for a long moment. Carewyn found herself straining to hear any sound from below -- any marking of the time -- it had been 11, before they’d headed upstairs --
“I must go,” she said yet again.
But when she made as if to leave, Orion clutched her hands in his.
“Please,” he implored her, “stay.”
“I can’t,” said Carewyn.
“You will be safe here in Florence. I wouldn’t allow Charles Cromwell to get within ten feet of you again -- ”
“Grandfather can’t know I’ve been here,” Carewyn said very firmly. “The King and Queen of Royaume have treated him as a confidante for years -- he’s invested a lot of money to make sure they rely on him. As long as our family’s money and status are intact -- as long as Grandfather’s place at their side is intact -- he will have their ear, and they will trust his word. And I know Grandfather will use every penny he has to sabotage your efforts for peace, until his dying breath. Imagine how he’d twist you ‘kidnapping’ his precious granddaughter and turning her against her own family. Don’t forget: the last time Florence harbored a fugitive from Royaume, we got a War that’s lasted fifty years.”
Her eyes narrowed.
“So...I must return to Royaume. I must make sure that the King and Queen have no idea that Bill and the others helped me get here with one of their coaches without their permission. I must make sure that Grandfather has no idea I was ever here.”
Orion’s face was full of pain as he squeezed her hands. “Carewyn, I can’t let you return to him -- ”
“I won’t,” said Carewyn. Her lips spread into a smile. “Don’t you understand? You gave me my life. The Baroness and Talbott broke me out of my tower, and I’m never going back. As far as Grandfather will know...I simply escaped while he and my family were away.”
Orion’s eyes widened. Then they softened visibly. “...Just as KC and Bill Weasley originally planned.”
Carewyn beamed. “And just as my mother did, before me. It might not be easy for me to be on my own, but I know I’ll find a place somewhere, to make my own way. And maybe when you and King Henri are able to make peace...I’ll be able to find my way back to you again.”
Orion’s black eyes melted, gaining a proud warmth. In a spontaneous move, he swept in again and kissed her fully, heatedly. Carewyn brought a hand up to the back of his head, cradling the base of it under his ponytail -- after a wonderful, soft moment, she used the grip to gently break the kiss.
Orion smiled almost shyly.
“Forgive me,” he said. “In that moment, you just looked so beautiful.”
Carewyn raised an eyebrow. “I'm under an illusion, Orion.”
Orion shook his head. “It doesn’t matter. However surreal your appearance is, your eyes blazed with such courage...like a wild stallion, fearlessly running through an open field with no fences.”
He kissed her again, more chastely.
“It was stunning.”
Carewyn smiled through a dark blush, her eyes closing modestly.
“...How do I look to you, exactly?” she couldn’t help but ask.
Orion beamed, his black eyes sparkling under his magpie mask. “Like Artemis.”
Carewyn blinked in surprise.
“Shining white hair, a smile kissed by mischief...paler than the moon, with eyes that shine like stars.” Orion’s grin broadened. “You look how I always imagined the goddess Artemis to look, when I heard the tale of her and the hunter Orion as a boy.”
Carewyn’s lips spread into a broader, emotional smile. Somewhere down below, she just barely caught the sound of a bell, and her smile flickered and died at once. She immediately bolted for the door to the secret passage, but Orion stopped her again.
“11:45, my lady,” he said soothingly.
“It took us a good ten minutes to get up here,” said Carewyn. “I must go now -- ”
“Then we’ll go back together.”
He took her hand and followed along behind as she ran back down the stairs of the secret passage, back toward the ground floor. Despite herself, Carewyn kept trying to shake him off.
“Orion, you should stay here -- I can make it back to the ballroom by myself -- ”
“I don’t doubt that.”
“Grandfather and Lord Malfoy will be looking for you -- if you stay here, in this passage, they probably won’t find you -- ”
“Probably.”
Even with his placid agreements, he remained at her side. Once they reached the end of the passage, Carewyn whirled on him, putting her hands up to his chest to stop him.
“I must go on alone from here,” she said very firmly.
“Must you?” asked Orion.
“It’s nearly midnight...just wait until the twelfth strike, and you’ll be safe -- ”
“And yet you will not be, if you’re still here,” Orion said very solemnly. “I can’t let Charles Cromwell or Lord Malfoy stop you from leaving -- they’ll know it was you, who kept me from the ballroom...”
“Orion, there’s no time!” said Carewyn anxiously. “The only way I can get back to the coach in time is through the ballroom. I won’t be able to shield you -- if you enter the ballroom before midnight, you’ll die.”
Orion’s eyes had grown very small and dark with thought. Then, little by little, they lit up with an idea.
“Carewyn,” he said seriously, “run away from me.”
Carewyn’s eyebrows furrowed. “What?”
“Run away, when I pursue you. No matter what I say or do, while I chase you...no matter what happens, just keep running for the carriage. Ride back to Royaume, and don’t look back.”
His black eyes were very serious.
“Promise me.”
Carewyn was stricken. Her face had lost a lot of its color as she clutched the front of his white-feathered doublet.
“No! No, I can’t -- ”
“It will be all right, Carewyn,” Orion soothed her.
“It can’t be all right!” she argued. “If you follow me, you’ll die -- !”
“The weapons in the ballroom will target me, yes,” said Orion. “But I’ll have a keen eye open for them, and I shall dodge them...just as you helped me dodge them before.”
“You can’t possibly dodge them all, even if Jae and the others are still in there!” Carewyn was beside herself, her hands clasping desperately at his chest. “Orion, I can’t let you -- ”
“It must be done, Carewyn,” whispered Orion gently.
“Orion, I can’t lose you!” Carewyn implored him. Her eyes were flooding with tears. “Orion, please -- I can’t -- ”
Orion, mirroring a gesture Carewyn had used before, clutched the back of her head, cradling it gently, and he placed a tender kiss to the crook of her neck.
“It will be all right, Carewyn,” he murmured against her skin. “Trust me.”
Carewyn felt sick. She knew every second she hesitated was one less than she needed to get back to the coach, where Bill, Charlie, Talbott, and Badeea were no doubt waiting, and yet her fear for Orion’s safety threatened her very stability. She’d done everything she could to try to protect him, the way she couldn’t for Jacob -- if she lost him too, she didn’t know what she’d do...
She looked into his gentle, calm eyes, vainly trying to fight back her tears. Despite the painful lump in her throat and the clenching of her heart, she saw the lack of fear in his features -- the man who, not long ago, had been so anxious he could hardly breathe was absolutely fearless in the face of Death.
Carewyn Cromwell didn’t trust anyone. She’d never had faith in anyone...not since she’d lost Jacob and been enslaved to Charles Cromwell, a man who trusted and believed in no one but himself...
And yet in this moment -- as impossible as she knew it would be for her to do -- she knew she had to try.
And so, her eyes streaming with tears, she swept in and kissed Orion fully. She caressed his face, trailing a hand through the bangs under his coronet, as he clutched the back of her head tenderly.
After a minute, they broke apart, and Carewyn pushed open the door of the secret passage, dashing back out into the hallway, straight for the ballroom. After giving her a minute’s head start, Orion started his pursuit, calling after her.
“No, wait -- come back!”
Following Orion’s instructions, Carewyn didn’t stop. She ran down the hall, right through a crowd of people and back toward the ballroom, as he chased after her.
“Please come back!”
Orion’s voice sounded odd in Carewyn’s ears. Such words would normally have sounded tense, breathier, anxious -- but instead, every word rang out very clearly.
As Carewyn made her first step into the ballroom, she couldn’t stop herself from looking back. Seeing her hesitation, Orion raised his voice.
“I don’t even know your name -- how will I find you?”
The completely out-of-character sentence shocked Carewyn back to her senses.
This was an act. This was a ploy -- another lie, for them to get them to their goal. He wanted everyone to hear him. He wanted to make it sound like he didn’t know who she was, but that he didn’t want her to leave, like he was trying to stop her from going. Carewyn just wasn’t sure exactly why...
In that moment, however, she knew that didn’t matter. And so she ran, even despite the fear thumping in her chest. She could see Jae pushing through the crowd, trying to reach Orion’s side -- from the other side of the ballroom came Barnaby and Tulip.
As Orion dashed through the ballroom, Carewyn could see many figures all over the room stiffening abruptly, their eyes glowing red as they faced Orion. Her heart seized up with terror as she ran, looking back constantly despite herself.
Jae, please -- please, reach him -- !
BANG.
The first gunshot came from the far left side of the ballroom, fired from one of Royaume’s lesser lord’s pistols. Orion was able to dodge it by ducking around a pillar.
As the ballroom devolved into terrified screams and Jae and the other bandits tried to hold off and overpower as many of the armed Royaumanian lords and ladies as possible, more gunshots rang out from other sides of the room.
BANG. BANG. BANG.
Orion dodged both the gunshots and the fleeing masses with artful grace by sliding underneath the refreshment table, his eyes returning to Carewyn.
“Wait! Please, wait!”
Carewyn’s heart clenched at the sight of Orion avoiding the shots. Once again, he proved himself to be so much more than he first appeared --
Still, though, he was catching up -- and, Carewyn realized, the faster she could get across the ballroom, the faster she could get Orion out of harm’s way.
And so she pushed through the crowd, running as fast as she could. She pushed right past KC and McNully, both of whom gave her confused looks, but nonetheless seemed to have caught on. Thanks to Jae, they were enough in the loop to know Orion was in trouble, and although they didn’t understand Orion’s ploy, they knew better than to prevent Carewyn from leaving.
BANG. BANG.
As people ran to try to avoid the gunshots that would never have hit them anyway, Carewyn tried desperately not to look back. She couldn’t afford that hesitation.
I can’t let him die -- I can’t --
“Halt!”
In the midst of all the mayhem, someone seized Carewyn’s arm, yanking her back. Carewyn whirled around, her face losing all of its color at the sight of white-blond-haired, albino-peacock-dressed Lord Malfoy.
“His Majesty ordered you to stop,” he said in a very dangerous voice, his gray eyes flaring with loathing.
Carewyn’s heart flared with terror and she wrenched against Lord Malfoy’s grip, desperately trying to get free.
“Let go! Let me go!”
Orion, seeing Carewyn’s distress, tried to dash over. Unfortunately his distraction had caused him to ignore his surroundings.
“NO!” screamed Andre.
It was only thanks to the Prince of Royaume that King Henri’s ceremonial blade was not plunged through Orion’s chest. Instead it slashed his side, causing him to hunch in on himself with a sharp hiss of pain.
Orion getting injured, even superficially, made Carewyn’s eyes lose all of their light.
“NO!” she screamed. “NO!”
And to make matters worse, somewhere underneath the sound of panicked screaming, there was a terrible BONG of a clock tolling the hour.
It was midnight.
Carewyn lashed out against Lord Malfoy’s grip, but he held fast, his teeth bared.
“A lady with the ability to enchant a King enough to lead him to his doom,” he hissed, as the clock made its second strike. “Clearly you are behind this conspiracy -- ”
BONG. Carewyn could feel her face tingling, and she fought harder against his grip. As Malfoy glared down at her, his eyes seemed to slowly widen -- the illusion around her face was flickering like a candle, making her real hair and eye color at points easier to see.
“What...?”
BAM.
Out of nowhere, Bill Weasley -- his face obscured by his antler-decorated stag mask -- had appeared and punched Lord Malfoy right in the face. The strike was so strong that it knocked him completely off his feet and forced him to let go of Carewyn.
Andre had successfully put the King of Royaume in a headlock to restrain him. Erika, who KC and McNully had both flagged so as to prevent her from being affected too, pulled out her own ceremonial sword to forcibly disarm the King. As King Henri blinked rapidly and shook his head, Erika shouted at Orion over her shoulder as loudly as she could over the fifth stroke of midnight.
“Get out of here, King Cosimo!”
Orion, his hand sliding off of his side, turned his focus back to Carewyn and plowed after her just as before.
“Wait!” he cried again, echoing his earlier sentiment as if nothing had happened.
Bill grabbed hold of Carewyn. “We can’t wait -- the Cromwells already left, but Malfoy and Rakepick -- ”
“I know!” said Carewyn, her voice fiercer than she meant. “Come on!”
Carewyn broke back out into a run out of the ballroom, Bill at her heels. Bill pushed and shoved their way through the hallway full of people, clearing a path for Carewyn as the clock struck eight.
Despite the shallow wound to his chest, Orion kept running after them, continuing to play his ruse. Lord Malfoy, having recovered from Bill’s punch at last, likewise tried to pursue, but before long he found himself circumvented by Skye not-so-subtly tackling him to the ground.
“Don’t want you getting shot, Lord Malfoy,” she said in a voice that clearly communicated that she wouldn’t have minded one bit if he had been.
Bill and Carewyn finally made it out the front doors to the top of the grand stairs when the clock struck ten. It was also there that they were halted again, this time by Rakepick stepping on the wide skirt of Carewyn’s gown. The movement made Carewyn lose her footing, making one of her stained glass slippers come off as she stumbled down the stairs. Rakepick then took advantage of her disturbed balance to grab her by the wrist and hoist her back up onto her feet.
“And where do you think you’re going?” said Rakepick, her voice dripping with disdain.
Carewyn brought a hand up as if to smack her, only for it to be caught too. Bill halted and backtracked back up the stairs, his brown eyes flaring.
But when Rakepick looked Carewyn in the face, the illusion flickering and dying before her eyes, she stilled, her face losing all of its color.
“You,” she whispered in an oddly fragile voice.
BONG.
At long last, the final stroke of midnight had come. Carewyn was exposed, recognized, by the magician her grandfather had hired, even despite her best efforts.
But before Carewyn could even think of doing anything, Bill wrenched Rakepick off of his friend with one hand and threw her to the ground. Then he looped an arm around Carewyn’s waist, hoisting her up as if she were his little sister, Ginny, and ferried her right off her feet to the coach. Once he’d handed her off to Talbott and Badeea inside, Bill leapt up onto the boot.
“Go, now!”
Charlie in the driver’s seat barely needed any encouragement -- he flicked the reins and set the horses off at a run before the coach door was even securely closed.
Rakepick stared after the coach from her place sprawled out on the stairs, stunned. She didn’t even see Orion watch it go himself from the top of the stairs with a smile.
Once Carewyn’s coach was out of sight, Orion looked around, and a sparkle of orange diamond and shimmering paint caught his eye. When he looked down, he found Carewyn’s discarded “stained glass” slipper sitting innocently on its side at the top of the stair. He wiped the small amount of blood on his hand off on his black doublet sleeve, before he gingerly bent down and picked up the hand-painted shoe, his smile spreading into a full grin as he headed back indoors.
His improvised plan had worked all right so far. Maybe...just maybe...the Fates might favor him and Carewyn, after all.

LEAGUE 30 QUESTIONS:
Did this on my blog when I first transitioned to being League-Only and I wanted to see how much my answers changed. OwO 1) When did I start? July 15th, 2017 (a couple days after Kayn was released). It was a month after I moved in with my boyfriend and he introduced me to it. ♥ 2) The first champ you played? Sona. Well, technically Ashe because back then you weren’t able to choose what champ to try out and you weren’t in the middle lane on summoner’s rift. It was Ashe on howling abyss and they’d recommend building warmogs and thornmail??? I’m so glad they’ve updated the tutorial since I started.  3) My favorite champ to play right now is Nami. I love her w poke, I like her cc, I like her skins, I like spamming her laugh- she’s my fave ♥ 4) Which Champ has the best lore? Kindred because they’re literally death incarnate.  5) My main role: SUPPORT!~ (If you play with me? Sorry but support is my role :3) 6) My weakest role: Jungle for sure. I’ve said this on repeat, I salute to jungle mains. There is so much pressure with being a jungler because:
you gotta worry about jungle pressure
 enemy team/jungler invading your jungle
hoping your team rotates when the enemy team invades/ enemy jungler invades
being able to successfully gank lanes and not fall behind the enemy jungler
hoping your team rotates to help you secure objectives
I could go on and on but I’ll leave it there for now. My boyfriend is a top/jungle main and he constantly tells me how, “easy and carefree” jungle is but I don’t think I could ever be good at it.  7) Champ I hate the most: Vladimir. Poor boy needs a visual update but UGH, I HATE HIS HEALING! Literally just takes my morellonomicon and spits on it like, “awwww... that’s cute.” (Fizz is also a stinker.)  8) Favorite Skin: Elementalist Lux/ Dj Sona ♥ 9) Champ I want to learn: Irelia or Fiora. I have skins for both of these champs and I’m more or less okay at Irelia. I think I want to get BETTER at Irelia and learn Fiora (since holy shit she’s so strong).  10) Highest Mastery Points: Lux ♥ 11) Fave Champ in Each Role:  Top: Quinn  Jng: Evelynn Mid: Lux Adc: Miss Fortune or Sivir Support: Nami 12) What Champ do I want a new skin for? Well... There are a lot of champs that I think would fit into a LOT of skinlines but I’ll only name a few:  Coven Syndra Coven Cassiopeia  Solar/Lunar Eclipse Kayle Solar/Lunar Eclipse Diana (For an Illaoi enthusiast I know) Pool Party Illaoi 13) Favorite Summoner Spell: Exhaust. All you fast assassin bitches can suck my DICK! 14)  Champ you hate to face: BLITZ OR THRESH! Please revert Blitz hook range (also lollipopping hooks to my champion SUCKS) 15) Flash on D or F? D, duh.  16) Favorite Quote: Lux,  "The superior tactic is to never give up." 17) Champ I would cosplay: ALL OF MY GIRLS: Lux, Nami, Morgana, Neeko, Janna, Sona, Lulu, Kayle, Evelynn, Elise, Syndra, Cass, Miss Fortune, Kai’sa, Xayah, Leblanc- Literally any female champ.  18) Favorite Item: Ludens (tied with Ardent)  18b) Most hated item: b.o.r.k 19) Ever gotten a ban? Nope~ ♥ Not even a chat restriction :>  20) How many skins do you own? 138 20b) How many champions? 94 21) Most banned champ? In urf it was Lucian. In normal league it’s probably a 4 way tie between thresh, blitz, yasuo, and yi.  22) Champ I had my first penta with? Sona  23) Favorite Keystone? Domination  24) Favorite Emote? Nami UWU 25) Toxic? On voice sometimes but never in chat  Easy to Tilt? ...maybe  Chill? I like to think so xD Guess I’m a mixture of all 3.  26) Solo or Premades? PREMADES. I never play alone.  27) Ranked, Normal or Aram? ARAM ALL THE WAY.  28) Highest Elo I ever reached? Silver 2 (I dont really play ranked- too toxic.)  Elo atm: Bronze 2 (I’ve been taking a break from league. Been mainly playing wow with occasional urf games inbetween. BUT YOU CAN BET YOUR ASS IM GONNA BE BACK WHEN NEXUS BLITZ COMES BACK AROUND, YES MA’AM!)  29) Have you ever uninstalled? Out of rage- nah. I think I thought about it before after getting into heated arguments with my boyfriend when both playing together but I never did. I did have to uninstall and then reinstall because a “file was corrupted.”  30) Would I ever quit League? I dont think I’ll fully ever quit (I dont want to) but I’ve been taking more breaks from it and it’s been pretty relaxing and easier on my anxiety. I’ve had a dispute with someone in the group I usually play with so I don’t really mind playing wow or something else while they’re there. (We also have a bunch of people in the discord that we’re in and a lot of people play league, so I also dont mind giving up my spot so someone else can play.)  Take the League 30 questions quiz!!!~ ♥

“Welcome to Summoner’s Rift.” A female voice startles Kirishima, forcing him to open his eyes.
When he looks around himself, he finds that he’s in a very peculiar – yet familiar – place. At first, he’s not sure where he is, so he turns to look behind him. His heart misses a beat as his eyes land on the giant abyss just behind him. The floor he’s standing on sounds like stone, and he confirms his suspicions by looking at it, finding that there are runes written on them.
He’s happy to see he’s not alone, since Jirou and Tokoyami are at his sides and Mina’s in front of him, with Bakugou next to her.
There’s a big, furry animal laying behind the scowling blond, with its long tail curled around a very small creature. Upon further inspection, he realises the mammal is some sort of shop, and the smaller one is in fact, a yordle. Suddenly he realises just where exactly he is.
He’s on the Rift.
He looks at his hands, but he himself looks normal, and so do the others.
Kirishima frowns. The people standing next to him are all his teammates, friends who he usually plays a few LoL games with. They even have a team together, but just… how did they get there?
“Why are we on Summoner’s Rift?” Jirou breaks the silence with a whisper and he turns his attention back to her.
“Is this some sort of training?” Mina asks, tilting her head and shrugging her shoulders.
“That’s ridiculous.” Bakugou scoffs. He raises his head and turns towards their nexus. “But I have a feeling that we’re going to be stuck here until we battle these losers and win.”
“Is this a dream?” Kirishima mumbles to himself, his brows furrowed. He can’t recall what he did before they got stuck there.
“This is so weird.” Mina whispers, narrowing her eyes as she looks around her. “How’d we get here?”
“Who cares?” Bakugou rolls his eyes.
“But… is this, like… dangerous? Is this some sort of training?”
“What if this is like in those films and if you die on the Rift you die in real life?” Kirishima asks, sounding worried as he stares at their nexus.
“That’s stupid!” Bakugou snorts. They all let the uncomfortable silence speak for them until the blond’s voice rings again. “But don’t die.”
“And, like, what are our passives? What about our abilities?” Jirou asks, a note of hesitance in her voice.
“My passive is that I’m way better than all you extras.” Bakugou smirks at them.
“I bet your passive is you lose one health each second you don’t brag.” She replies, rolling her eyes at him. He shoots her a look and she shrugs her shoulders.
“Not like it matters what our stupid passives are because we’re going to beat the shit outta them!” He shouts.
“But hooooow?” Mina whines. “What are we supposed to do?”
“Are you stupid?” Bakugou looks at her, scowling. “You’re training to be a hero. You know what to do. Just go out there and fight.”
“He’s right.” Tokoyami mutters, raising his head.
“But this is like… a different world, isn’t it?” Jirou asks, watching as minions start spawning magically. “And we’re in it. I guess we’re subjected to their rules?”
“I don’t care. Just go out there and do your fucking best.” He snarls, kicking at the ground as he walks towards the shop.
“Was that encouragement, Bakugou?” She smiles mischievously, knowing fully well he isn’t going to turn around to look at her shit-eating grin.
“Fuck off!” He directs at her, turning his head towards the yordle to get his starting items.
Mina pushes him out of the way as she buys her Doran’s Ring and some health pots. He’s about to complain when she rushes past him, her eyes beaming. “C’mon team! Let’s get on with it then!”
“Yeah!” Jirou exclaims, also grabbing the items she needs and going towards the bottom lane.
“Let’s show those losers who the real legends are!” Bakugou laughs, excited. He’s got that look in his eyes that he gets when he’s ready to fight. It makes Kirishima feel equally excited.
“C’mon, team, it’ll be fun!” He shouts, bumping his fists together as he hardens and unhardens his skin. He quickly starts running towards the top lane, trying to avoid the minions slowly making their way there.
Tokoyami takes longer to exit the base, since he’s considering what to get. They don’t know who they’re against just yet, so he’s not sure what items to build. He sighs when he decides, making his way towards the jungle.
He finds most of his teammates waiting for him at his red buff. Bakugou’s looking at Mina, grunting something at her. “If you feed I’ll go mid and kill you myself!” He warns her before turning to Jirou. “And you better do your absolute best. I want you being aggressive. And don’t you dare die.”
“Aye, aye, captain!” She mock salutes him, rolling her eyes when he turns his back to her.
“Thanks for the help.” Tokoyami whispers, summoning Dark Shadow to help him defeat the jungle monster that has just appeared. Mina heads towards the mid lane, whistling a simple tune to herself. “Good luck everyone! I’m rooting for you!”
“You too!” Kirishima cheers her from under his top turret.
“Don’t you dare steal it, Bakugou.” Jirou warns, a sly smile on her face as she looks over at her lane partner.
“That was one time!” He snaps at her, promptly stopping his auto attacks towards the monster and heading towards bot.
A giggle escapes the girl’s mouth and she rolls her eyes, turning to Tokoyami. “Was that a good enough leash or do you want me to stick around some more?”
“That was fine.” He replies, giving the red buff a last attack. Dark Shadow nods to her and she sighs, realising she can’t postpone the inevitable anymore; she’s got to go to the bottom lane.
When she gets there she sees Bakugou already hitting minions, as well as their lane opponents, Ezreal and Sona. He uses small explosions that burst from his hands to finish the minions off. He also uses them against their enemies, but he isn’t going as aggressive as he’d like because he’s wary of the situation. He’s not sure what the consequences of his actions will be, and that scares him a little.
Jirou’s actually proud of how cautious he’s being. Normally she’d be telling him to take it slow, and that’s why she complements him so well when they play. She helps him when he gets too overconfident and is quick to stop his impulsive moves. Together they make a pretty strong team. They can be an undefeatable duo when he stops being stubborn and she doesn’t provoke him.
Although it is true that she likes teasing him a little bit too much since he’s easy to tilt. When she’s in a playful mood she’ll go into the enemy’s jungle and pretend to feed the enemy a kill or two. Even though it infuriates him, he always goes after her to help her out whenever she actually gets in a tricky situation. He’s died saving her more than once but that usually makes her start playing better.
Bakugou used to main mid, but was convinced by Kirishima to try the AD carries, and he quickly felt more comfortable there. It’s not like he feels he needs a support, but he grew to understand that having someone with him can be beneficial. Even though that doesn’t stop him from playing recklessly and boasting about how he’s the star of the show. He believes he carries everyone with his displays of skill and tactics and his aim is to always do the most damage. Some of the times he gets greedy, and despite the fact that he knows very well he shouldn’t get cocky, he has died trying to get a kill more than once.
In the mid lane, Mina’s against Cassiopeia. She darts around her lane, trying to predict her rival’s attacks, dodging most of them successfully. She squirts acid at the enemy minions, laughing maniacally as she darts from side to side.
Mina just likes playing mages. Sometimes she switches with Jirou and lets her go mid, where she picks assassins, but Bakugou doesn’t like when the pink haired girl supports him because she’s more in her own world and plays less aggressively than him. When she goes to the bottom lane and supports him, they both keep dying. She has no control over Bakugou, and they’re both greedy and reckless. She’s a bit like him in the sense that she doesn’t understand when to stop and doesn’t put limits on him like Jirou does. That’s why when they’re together, it basically always ends badly for them.
Tokoyami murmurs to himself as he skulks around the jungle, killing camps mercilessly, but also paying attention to his team, just in case they need him. He uses Dark Shadow to tank the creeps, making it dance around them to distract them while he deals damage.
Tokoyami’s been a jungler for as long as Kirishima has known he plays league. He says he likes the darkness of the wild. Or something like that. His favourite and most picked champion is Nocturne because he relates to him. He normally just stays in the jungle playing his own game, in his own world, although he still ganks and helps take objectives. Kirishima thinks he’s the best player out of them, but mainly because he has Dark Shadow to help monitor the minimap and tell him where the enemy is or could be. He sometimes even provides help by steering the mouse in the right direction or pressing the correct keys.
Some consider using quirks cheating, but there are millions of players that exploit theirs just to get into a major league and become famous. And in a world where quirks exist, using them can hardly be considered cheating.
Bakugou, Mina, Jirou and Kirishima can’t really use their quirks to help them play better. Sometimes, in fact, it’s more of a handicap. Both boys have accidentally – and not so accidentally in Bakugou’s case – destroyed mice, headsets, keyboards and screens. That last one was recently: the blond got so angry he decided to blast his computer screen with a powerful explosion, wrecking it completely. They actually managed to win despite the absence of their ADC.
Kirishima snaps out of his thoughts when he sees a familiar shadow coming towards him. “OMG, it’s Malphite!!” He squeals when he recognises his opponent, his eyes gleaming at the sight of his favourite champion. He approaches him cautiously, keeping an eye on him and the enemy minions, as he hardens his skin just in case the other decides to throw him his projectile. All they do is farm for the first few minutes, completely ignoring each other.
Kirishima likes playing tanks. He doesn’t mind where, as long as he feels like he’s protecting his team. He says it’s like in real life, he’s there to take the brunt of the damage. That’s how he started playing in the top lane.
That’s one of the reasons he admires Malphite. He feels like he’s a lot like him in many ways, but now that he’s against him, he doesn’t know what to do. At first, they barely touch each other. All they do is farm peacefully. The redhead is scared the other is waiting until he hits level six and can just use his ultimate on him and basically obliterate him. He can harden his skin, but he’s not sure how effective that will be against his opponent. He has this huge dash, and Kirishima isn’t very mobile. It’s one of the cons of his quirk.
They both reach level six pretty much at the same time, and, as predicted, Malphite immediately hits him with his ultimate move, but Kirishima uses his Unbreakable just in time, and doesn’t receive much damage. They slap each other until they’re both very low and they both decide to back off, without anyone dying.
He recalls under his turret, feeling slightly dejected. “Hmmm, I feel like my hardening doesn’t last very long.”
“My explosions aren’t very impressive either.” Bakugou mutters, disheartened.
“I keep running out of acid.” Mina moans, throwing her head back. “This is frustrating.”
“We’re on the Rift. I think it’s normal that we have limitations here. We’re in this world and this world’s rules apply to us too, now.” Jirou says. “Just learn to use your resources better.”
Apart from that, everything seems to be going fine. They don’t play too recklessly, since they’re kind of wary about the situation they’re in, but they don’t let the enemy push them up to their turrets.
That’s until Bakugou gets a little cocky and starts harassing the enemy a bit too much, so of course the enemy jungler ganks them before they can retreat.
“Nocturne’s bot!” Jirou shouts. “Can someone come and help?”
“Coming.” Tokoyami whispers, and true to his word, he appears behind them, Dark Shadow alert and ready.
It suddenly gets darker, so Jirou takes a step towards Bakugou and they share a look. Before they can act, Nocturne appears above them, but Dark Shadow is quick and gets in front of them to shield them.
“We meet again, old friend.” Tokoyami whispers ceremoniously as he runs towards them, commanding Dark Shadow to grab Nocturne and pin him down.
“Weird.” Bakugou grunts, but quickly starts attacking the enemy, blasting them with explosions. Jirou emits the sound of her heartbeat, standing beside her carry, ready for anything. Sona’s manages to stun all three of them momentarily, giving Ezreal enough time to hit them with a powerful release of energy, dealing a lot of damage.
They retreat to their turret with the intention to recall since they’re pretty wounded, but the enemy follows them. Sona dives them just when Jirou grabs her with her earlobes, letting her take enough damage from the tower and Bakugou that she dies just right after flashing.
Ezreal goes in to try and finish them off since Jirou is nearly dead but she backs away just in time, letting her team take the kill and saving her.
Nocturne manages to get away, leaving a dark trail behind him, and they decide it’s not worth it to follow him. Jirou, despite the fact that she should go back to base, stays and helps take bottom turret and then they all rotate to mid, where they help Mina take her opponent’s after successfully killing Cassiopeia.
“Jirou!” Bakugou barks at her. “Back immediately.”
“Yeah, yeah.” She sighs.
“It’s best if I leave as well.” Tokoyami whispers sombrely. He did end up quite injured after their last fight when he went under the enemy turret just to make sure his team secured the kill on Cassiopeia.
“You probably have a lot of money, Bakugou. You should come with us.” Jirou says, walking away so she’s not in range of any possible enemy coming their way.
He just snarls at her, but does as he was told, knowing she’s right.
“I should go, too!” Mina cheerfully adds, skipping to where they’re backing, but suddenly, she stops. She turns her head towards the enemy jungle when something catches her attention.
Before she knows what she’s doing, she’s in the river, enjoying the little stream of water.
“I never noticed how pretty the Rift is!” She calls to her team.
“Are you in their jungle?” Jirou asks after using her quirk to find her position.
“The fuck are you doing there? Get outta there! You’re going to get killed.” Bakugou calls for her, running down the mid lane.
Jirou follows behind him. “Hold on, we’re coming to get you!”
“No need! Everything’s fine! Wow, look at blue buff! It’s so cute! I want to have it as a pet!” Mina whispers, stroking it gently.
“The enemy is going to come.” Kirishima warns, hardening his arm and blocking Malphite’s auto attack. He knows how Mina is: she can’t seem to stay still in one place. She always moves around the terrain, roaming recklessly; without paying attention to the minimap.
He doesn’t get an answer, but they all hear her scream in terror. Bakugou and Jirou shout at her to try and escape, but they see the enemy have her cornered. Sona slows her with her empowered attack and Ezreal hits her in the face with his various magical shots.
Mina’s unable to dodge all the damage they’re dealing, and she quickly loses her health, falling to the ground, apparently dead. Jirou starts screaming but Bakugou tugs at her arm, instructing her to go back. Nocturne and Cassiopeia are behind the other two enemies, so it’s better to retreat.
“Mina… are you okay? Did you die? Are you dead?” Kirishima desperately asks, punching Malphite right in the face.
“I think I’m okay.” She replies. Her voice sounds different, like she’s in another plane. “I’m definitely dead in the game, but I’m okay!” She follows with a laugh.
“What’s it like to be dead?” Tokoyami’s tone gives away how curious he is to know the answer.
“It’s weird. Not bad, but also not good. It’s kinda tingly actually, the sensation.”
“I told you not to go there!” Bakugou screams at her. “I’m gonna kill you when you come back!”
All he gets as an answer is her shrill laughter which echoes around the Rift.
After a sigh, Jirou comes up with a plan. “Let’s all just group mid and push. Kiri, think you can come help?”
“Sure!”
When they go as a team, they definitely feel like they have an advantage. They take a turret before their opponents do anything to stop them.
When their surroundings turn black, they huddle together, prepared for the enemy’s attack.
“Darkness is all around us.” Tokoyami mutters, signalling to Dark Shadow to step in front of them so that it blocks any incoming damage. The shadow creature does, and just at the right time, since it stops Malphite from landing on his team, and prevents him from coming any closer.
“I’m going in!” Kirishima shouts, going Unbreakable and running towards the darkness. Bakugou blasts himself forwards and lands next to Ezreal and Sona, prepared to do as much damage as possible.
Jirou tries to protect him from where she stands, but Nocturne positions himself between her and the rest of her team, so all she can do at first is try to get him off herself. Dark Shadow helps by diverting him, and she quickly runs off to aid Mina.
Cassiopeia is the first one to die, because Kirishima separated her from the rest of her teammates. After defeating the mid laner, Ezreal and Sona have nowhere to go, so they’re pretty easy to eliminate.
Nocturne and Malphite fall too, but so does Tokoyami, who dashed in front of Bakugou to save him from the enemy.
“It’s not so bad being dead.” He mutters solemnly from beyond the grave.
“Can we win from this?” Jirou gasps, hurrying behind Bakugou and trying to get the enemy’s third turret.
“I think so.” Mina whispers, concentrating. They get the inhibitor and she sighs in relief.
Kirishima tanks the first few hits of the nexus’s right turret before the minions come, and they destroy that one too. By the time they’ve managed to knock down the other one, Sona and Ezreal have come back up, but there’s not much they can do to prevent them from winning.
Just as Kirishima hits the Nexus with his hardened fist, it explodes into a million little pieces. He can feel the shards hit his skin, but it doesn’t hurt; instead it feels kind of nice. A smile spreads on his face as the loud female voice rings in his ears and tells him they’ve won.
He takes a step back, but his feet don’t move, and he suddenly feels something against his back. He notices he’s sitting on a chair.
Bakugou cheers next to him, slapping his arm enthusiastically. “Yeah! We murdered them! Take that, you lousy shitty extras!”
“Yeah…” Kirishima mutters, slightly confused. “Good job… everyone!”
He blinks as he looks around him, and he finds that he’s not on the Rift.
He’s in his dorm, playing on his desk with Bakugou, both using their laptops and trying to be comfortable in such a cramped space.
He can hear Mina scream triumphantly from the other room, and he scrunches his eyebrows, confused.
What just happened?

Mid-night
Small towns were made for longing, especially late at night. The little gas station/coffee shop was the only lit building just a few miles from the highway. Despite the streetlights and odd porch light being on, the stars had an unobstructed stage to shine on. The front door bell jingled loudly as the lone attendant stepped outside. The sound was jarring but she didn't cringe like she used to. Nobody normal was awake at this time, even though the sound was loud to her, nobody would wake. A few months ago, right after she had started taking the graveyard shifts, she thought she had seen someone sinister and she had screamed. But no one woke up. It turned out to be a cat, but it made her think about what would happen if it was actually someone. That night had been filled with musings and just a touch of loneliness, much like this one.
She gazed upwards; the stars were in full force. She ran back inside to grab her tattered stargazing book and flipped to the right page. Constellations were a small consolation for having no company, but she learned not to mind.
It was unusual for such a small town to have a twenty-four hour gas station, but it paid well. Occasionally, the odd late night vacationing family would come through and she would be hit with the overwhelming feeling of being known. The nights were meant for musing and quiet. Children who were too tired and car crazy were not quiet. Not many people traveled now though; it was the off season. Only a few more nights left before she would need her coat to go out and visit the stars. The cold will be welcome, she thought. At least I'll have another thing to keep me company. The cold keeps me alive.
She looked up again, searching for a familiar face in the sky. Nights are meant for sleep, but that's a normalcy she can't afford at the moment so she spends the nights quietly, resting, gazing, longing. Someday, she'll be gazing at these same stars from the deck of a boat, next to her love, floating and talking on clouds of happiness and company. She'll have a home, a friend, a husband, someone.
Tonight, she has the stars; Orion, Ursa, Cassiopeia. She has Longing, Thoughts, Hope. Friends, truly. And tomorrow, when the little town wakes up, perhaps she will meet someone who likes the stars, and night, just like her.

⚠ PLAGUE⚠ - Eddie Brock/Venom Imagine - Part 4
Part one  Part two  Part three  Part four
Short Summary: Riot had been defeated and the life foundation was on the brink of collapse. Eddie was now at terms and living at peace with Venom. You were walking home in a drunken state and passed out mid-way. The next morning things got weird and there’s only one guy who can help you now.
A/N: Hope this chapter is ok. I know it seems slow moving but it’s building up for more to come! Also aaaahahahha double paragraph spacing??
Word count: 1100
Tumblr media
It took some convincing, but eventually, Venom was able to get Eddie to watch the discs and briefly read the appointments journal. The discs had been home videos recorded by various members of (Y/N)’s family. They followed her life before her career in track and field. Most of them were recordings of her running and doing different track sports like long distance, hurdles and sprints. These discs revealed a lot about by Plague had chosen (Y/N). Plague was, as Venom described, more of a loser than anyone he had met from his home. He was scrawny and powerless compared to the other symbiotes. Having a strong human counterpart would equal out how weak the symbiote was. (Y/N) also had a smaller frame than someone like Eddie, meaning she was more agile and her body was more used to being pushed physically.
The journal, on the other hand, revealed more about her personal life. As to be expected, she was a healthy eater and had a strict and nutritious diet and training plan. Eddie was forced to read the book from cover to cover. It started as an appointment journal, where (Y/N) wrote down who she would be meeting with, what her training was for the day. Then, as time went by, the book became more of a general schedule. It was a two-year journal and near the last pages, the book was used as a diary more than a planner. (Y/N) wrote down how she had missed her opportunity to progress further into making it to the Olympics. Then she wrote how she was feeling, which wasn’t great, and then how she felt like giving up. Like her whole life had been a waste because now she only had one chance left and she didn’t think she was going to make it. The journal ended there, but Eddie assumed by the fact she was still living in San Francisco she hadn’t succeeded. It was disheartening to read and Eddie felt for the girl. He knew what she had gone through. Even Venom made a few seldom comments.
Your eyes slowly opened and a groan rumbled from your throat as you slowly awoke. You laid still and took in your surroundings. You felt a cold, unpleasant breeze tingle up your legs. Under you was a hard surface that made you want to move, but your limbs were aching at an unbearable level.
“Get up. We are cold and hungry.” A voice buzzed in your mind and caused you to groan louder. It hadn’t been a dream, but you wished it had. “UP!” With suddenly no control of your open body, you stood up as if the pain was nothing.
“OH MY GOD!” You screamed. By standing you had become aware of where you were, in the forest. Naked. You crouched down and tried to cover yourself as much as possible. The cold wind that swept through the forest caused you to shiver violently. “What the hell…” You murmured. “Where are my clothes?” You didn’t bother to ask why you woke up in the woods.
“Gone.” The voice in your head said.
“What do you mean ‘gone’? Clothes don’t disappear! What happened after I fell asleep?” You shouted out loud to nothing.
“You woke up.” It answered plainly.
“Alright, smartass. What happened after I passed out on my bed after that guy came by?”
“We were hungry, so we got food. Venom was right, you are a good host. We are very alike.” There was a hint of excitement in the creatures hoarse voice.
 “Then?”
“We decided to sleep here. Then you woke up and freaked out, but eventually got hungry again so we ate more.”
“Wait- ‘again’?” You frowned. “How long have I been out here?”
“We have been living in these woods for four days now.” It made an emphasis on ‘we.’ Your express fell as you listened to the voice. Your stomach was twisting with a mixture of emotions. How had you survived out in the woods, naked, for several days?! Surely people were wondering where you were if you were safe. What if someone had seen you?! Your breathing started to quicken as your brain tried to process what was going on to the added reminder that there was an alien inside you. “(Y/N) what are you doing. We do not feel good.”
“I don’t feel fucking good!” You hissed and curled into a ball on the cold dirt floor.
“We are hungry, (Y/N). We must eat before we get sick.” It urged you to listen to reason and forced you to stand up, despite how you fought it to be able to cover yourself.
“Eat? Everything I ate you sent straight back up!”
 “Not everything.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“We ate what we crave. Human meat.”
“Human meat?” You blabbered. “You’re joking, right? Oh god, you’re not joking.” You stared into the distance and then down at your hands. For a momentary flash, you saw green claws dripping with blood instead of your own skin. “Is this what you did?” You asked in disbelief.
“We did what we needed to.”
More flashes of the past few days came leaping back into your mind, all from the alien’s perspective… which was also your perspective, but not in your control. You saw scattered bodies covered black bruises and red blisters. You could hear screams as you watched the flashbacks in your mind and were unable to stop them and they all ended the same. Nothing.
 “Did we kill them?”
 “Yes.”
This was enough break the wall you held up to stop your emotions overflowing. Tears cascaded down your cheeks as your chest and throat tightened. Your knees gave way and caused you to fall back onto the floor, hugging yourself as you cried. You had never wanted to hurt someone so badly, never alone kill them.
The day after meeting (Y/N), Eddie returned to her apartment to check in on how she had been doing and hopefully return the things he had stolen without her noticing. When he had knocked on the door, he got no response. Maybe she was out? Or maybe she knew he stole from her and was ignoring him? It was anyone's guess, but he decided to leave her alone.
A had tried the day after that and even the day after those, but each time he knocked the only response he got was a snide remark from his symbiote. He was beginning to feel concerned about what was going on, but he forced both his and Venom’s mind off the topic and focused on other things. It wasn’t their place to force themselves into her life and if she wanted to be alone he had to respect that.

Andromeda, chapter 5 (Vitan - Cassiopeia)
Violet and Sutan might have figured things out, because just because you have decided to stay together, doesn’t mean it’ll be easy to get there. In this we check in in march, we grocery shop, Raven has an agenda, and Violet calls in the middle of the night.
Thanks a million to @veronicasanders - My absolute darling who’s my ever patient and amazing beta. I’m so thankful for her!
“Which milk do you want?” Sutan closed the door to the supermarket fridge. “GrandLait fraise with..” Sutan turned the container, trying to make sense of it. “The blue cap, or the one with the red?”
“I don’t drink milk.”
“Right...” It was mid March, and since Fashion Week Sutan had spent more time in Paris than he had in New York, thinking that it would be no problem to adjust to a country where he knew the language, he had realised that he had no idea how limited his French vocabulary actually was. Sutan could talk for hours about fashion, book a flight without a sweat and order at a restaurant, but navigating a grocery store? Keep a conversation going with Violet’s next door neighbor? Find the products Frida needed at the petstore? Imposiblé as they’d say in his soon to be home country.
“Let me.” Sutan could hear the smile in Violet’s voice, his girlfriend walking over to him, their cart abandoned from where Violet was looking for her brand of oat milk. “Blue is 2%, red is whole.”
“Thanks.”
“We have to make sure you can have your coffee, right?”
Violet turned her head up, silently asking for a kiss which Sutan had no problem giving her. Kissing Violet in public was different, the first time she silently seeked affection coming as a genuine surprise since she would rarely even hold his hand in New York unless they were somewhere private. Violet was different in Paris. In general almost everything was different in Paris.
“Do we have coffee? I think we got some the last time you were here...” Violet bit her lip, clearly thinking, and Sutan couldn’t help but smile. Violet was doing so much to make him feel welcome, doing everything she could to make sure he was happy in her home and happy in what they tried to build together.
“I think so.”
Violet nodded, putting the whole milk in the cart. “We can get an extra jar of instant, just to be sure.”
Sutan wrinkled his nose, making Violet laugh. Instant coffee was among his least favorite. He hadn’t had it regularly since he and Raja had become wealthy enough to buy their own apartment and both of them had to switch to more socially acceptable forms of doping, so coffee it was.
“Are you going to bringing your machine over, or should I start looking for one?”
“Maybe. I haven’t decided yet.”
Violet took Sutan’s hand, gently intertwining their fingers.
When Sutan had stood outside Violet’s door, promising he would make it work, promising that they were going to work, he had no idea how hard it would be. There were so many logistics involved, the easiest of it all actually being his job, though he had never expected that. His boss at Elite had said yes to transferring him almost immediately, not willing to risk losing him to one of their rival companies in France, French Elite opening their doors for him and ready to take him in, the legal process already started. It was close to hell to keep track of, and Sutan had no idea how his parents had actually managed to move from one continent to another when he was a child. He had a company do everything for him, and it was still absolutely terrible.
What had been hard though, was packing up his things, selling his apartment and moving away from his friends. Raja had been furious, angry beyond belief, his sister yelling at him and throwing things, burning with a fire so bright it hurt to look at, until she was finally finally done raging. Then she had cried, tears flowing from her like a river, her reaction just as violent when it came from sorrow, Sutan holding her and letting her sob. Seeing his sister beak apart like that had broken his heart as well. Raja had cried for her brother, cried for how they were going to be apart, had cried for the fact that she was now going to be alone with her baby girls, but Sutan had kissed her hair, letting her finally finally realise that she would be alright, and that it was time for them to not say goodbye, but instead see you soon, their bond strong enough for Sutan to leave and try something new without her.
Jinkx had been the most surprising help, his ex financee and someone Sutan was sure would hate him for the rest of her life easily offering without any prompting to let her family business take on his apartment, creating a revenue stream for him for his life in Paris, a safety net for back home to make sure his mother would always have easy access to the monthly transfer they had never discussed, but that had always come a t the exact same time.
He still needed about three or four trips back to New York, legal matters still needing tending to, and he still had to finish the tedious process of packing and wrapping everything up at work.
“Should we have pasta tonight?”
Sutan was pulled back to the present, Violet standing with a packet of chicken breasts in her hand, their cart besides her.
“Again?” “I have a limited repertoire, and someone complained the day I served oatmeal.” Sutan laughed, clearly remembering the moment he realised just exactly how bad his girlfriend was at cooking, Violet knowing how to make little more than instant mashed potatoes, broccoli salad, oatmeal and if she truly feeling adventurous, whipping up a chicken pasta.
“I’ll get better...” Violet’s voice was small, and Sutan could see that he had accidentally embarrassed her.
“I’m sorry lovely eyes.” Sutan kissed her hair.
They had somehow decided that they would take turns cooking, Violet really trying her best, but Sutan could see that she didn’t enjoy it, his girlfriend somehow seeing food more as fuel than even the skinniest model Sutan had ever encountered. They had never been out grocery shopping together in New York, at least as far as Sutan could remember, the first time Violet even suggested it a surprise to him. It had been years since Sutan had last done his own shopping, his housekeeper happily filling his fridge for an extra bonus in her salary.
“How about I make us something Indonesian?”
“Like what?”
“Nasi goreng?”
“Is that the rice your mom makes?”
Sutan nodded.
“That would be nice.” Violet took his hand. To anyone else, her words might sound dismissive, but Sutan knew exactly what they meant.
///
“Over here!”
Sutan had just landed in JFK returned from a long weekend in Paris with Violet. It had almost turned into an artform for him, stay as long as he possibly could, work on the plane, crash when he got home with jetlag and then get as much done as he could before he returned to Paris. Sutan was only carrying a duffel bag, the entire process of getting into America thankfully over quickly.
“Raven?” Sutan knew he sounded surprised, but he hadn’t expected to see the Russian. “What are you doing here?”
Actually, he should have expected to see the Russian. Only Raven was insane enough to willingly take the trip out to Newark with baby girls who were barely even a month old. Sutan was pretty sure it was breaking some kind of health code, or at least breaching the limits of good parenting, but his entire knowledge of parenting also came from watching Juju and Detox care for their kids, so what did he really know.
“The girls missed you.” Raven smiled brightly as she pushed a twin stroller towards him. Sutan felt a little unsettled, the fact that Raven had actively sought him out worrying in itself, though he was happy to see her. Raven had largely forgiven him for firing her, Raja fucking most of the rage out of her on her honeymoon, the fact that the media was much more interested in that and that her online fans had forgotten that she had been laid off as she posted beautiful photos and pictures of her and Raja together soothing the wound in exactly the way he had planned it. Sutan hoped that her new role as a mother would help her move on entirely, or at least move on to become a social media influencer, brands already reaching out to her to make sure her girls were dressed in their clothes even though they didn’t do anything but sleep and eat right now.
“Did they now?” Sutan hugged Raven, the no longer model so much smaller than he remembered her since she wasn’t wearing heels. Raven was wrapped up in a large quilted jacket, without a doubt wanting to hide the last of her pregnancy weight. Sutan had sped to Long Island the moment the news had dropped that Raven had gone into labor, picking up his mom in the middle of the night to drive her back, Raja almost sobbing when she saw her mother, but thankfully the birth had gone fine, two little baby girls coming into the world at 2 a.m. on the 2nd of March.
“See for yourself.”
Sutan smiled, looking into the stroller. The twins were laying side by side, curled together on one side, seeking each other like they were still in the womb, unable to let go even in sleep. Sutan reached into the stroller, gently running a finger over the cheek of his niece’s face, her little chin adorably fat the way only baby's was. It was weird to see his own flesh and blood, his sister’s little girls out in the world.
“So... Is Raja still mad?”
“It depends.” Raven smiled. Raja was hot and cold, his sister still shifting between furious and like nothing had happened at all depending on her mood. “I think this whole mom thing has been harder for her than she expected.”
Sutan nodded. Raja had held her girls, his normally near emotionless sister looking at her babies with so much love in her eyes that it had been physically painful to witness. Raja kissing and thanking Raven over and over again for the gift she had given her. Sutan knew from Fame that Raja had been a walking zombie at work in the following days, the blonde complaining on the phone that she had no idea how Raja had expected to be able to go right back to work after the birth of her daughters when she had taken two weeks off for her wedding.
“Have you decided on names yet?”
Raven smiled secretly, the two of them walking out of Newark together, a driver already waiting for them. “Yes, but it’s a secret.”
“Of course. Makes perfect sense.”
Sutan was so happy Raven had forgiven him, the fact that life in New York was going on without him, even if it also hurt. They all got in the car, Sutan and Raven sitting in the back, Raven’s hand in the basket with her girls, resting on their little tummies as they made their way into Manhattan.
“Sutan...”
“Yes?” Sutan looked up from his phone, the fact that he was transfering meaning he somehow had received more emails in the last few weeks than it felt like he had in his entire career, a few all nighters in the office without a doubt in the near future.
“Why does Violet hate me?”
“... What?”
“She hasn’t responded to any of my messages, I haven’t heard from her since you guys broke up, and now that she’s talking to you again, why hasn’t she- She hasn’t even seen- I want her to meet- I just- Why?”
Sutan could see that Raven was seconds from crying, the new mom still beyond exhausted all the time even if Mani had moved in with them for a time to help with everything. “Raven.”
“Don’t pity me!” Raven angrily wiped her eyes, and Sutan knew that was really why she had come to see him, a chance to privately ask what had without a doubt been eating away at her soul. “I know I don’t make friends easily, I know I don’t, but- I really thought we were friends, and I-”
“She misses you too.”
“She does?”
Sutan nodded, though he wasn’t entirely sure he was telling the truth. Violet liked Raven, that much was clear to him, but he also understood that his sister in laws bright and loud personality could also be a little much for Violet sometimes.
“She’s just...scared, of meeting all of you again. She told me, during fashion week.” Her reasoning had without a doubt been different back then, but if Sutan was honest, he couldn’t blame his girlfriend. His friends were intense, that wasn’t a secret to anyone, and the idea of just leaving them had tempted even him sometimes, but he loved them, and even if he was growing more and more excited about moving, he wasn’t happy about leaving a single one of them behind.
“So she doesn’t hate me?”
“She doesn’t.” Sutan reached into the basket too, putting his hand on top of Ravens.
“If I throw a birthday party for the girls, do you think she’ll come?”
“... In a year?”
“Of course not silly. For their two month birthday and name reveal! It’ll be amazing.” Raven smiled brightly, the former model’s eyes shining not with tears now, but with pure excitement. “I’m already working with a party planner. We’re having a Russian and Indonesian fusion feast to celebrate the two most amazing girls in the world!”
“We won’t miss it for the world.”
///
Riiiiiing, riiiiiing, riiiiiing
Sutan rolled over, a groan leaving him. His phone was going off, the sound so so loud in his quiet bedroom. It was the middle of the night, and normally Sutan would be pissed that anyone interrupted him, but in the last month, the ringtone had become a lifeline in this new life, his girlfriend on the other side even though she was 6 hours ahead, which meant their days never lined up.
Sutan finally found his phone, sliding without opening his eyes, the phone against his ear as he settled back down under the covers.
“Hi lovely eyes”
“Why is there a delivery man outside my door?”
“... What?” Sutan knew he had to sound stupid, but unlike Violet, he wasn’t quick to wake up, his brain needing time to reboot. Violet often found delight in how slow he was in the morning, teasing him before she pushed a cup of coffee towards him to let him wake up.
“Why is there a delivery man outside of my door, Sutan?”
Sutan opened his eye, the clock on his bedside table telling him it was a little after 4, and therefore 10 in Paris just as he had planned. “It made it there okay?” It was Saturday, Sutan’s head still a little heavy from the party he had gone to last night with Tatianna, the model one of the only girls he was genuinely sad about leaving behind.
“Sutan I’m not joking, you have four seconds to tell me what going on or I’m going to explod-”
“It’s our new bed.” Sutan could hear on Violet’s voice that he wasn’t going to be allowed back to sleep anytime soon, the woman sometimes calling him with a quick update, a simple question he could answer or to say she loved him, which meant he could roll over and go back to sleep, but this wasn’t going to one of them. Sutan sat up, rubbing his eyes before he put on his glasses. Neither of them were great at texting, Violet hating it, so they called, even though it didn’t really work for either of them compared to being together physically. “Already paid for.” Sutan got out of bed, not turning on the lights as he made his way to the kitchen for a glass of water.
“You got us a new bed?”
“You’re dating an old man.” Sutan smiled to himself, the 18 year age gap between them sometimes seeming like it didn’t exist, and other times like it was an ocean of things they had to overcome. Right now though, it was thankfully just amusing. “You may be able to sleep on a crappy mattress on the floor, but I need to sleep in an actual bed, with back support.” Sutan turned on the tap, quickly filling a glass. “Is the delivery man still outside?”
“Maybe.” Sutan could hear Violet biting her lip, an annoyed huff coming from her. “Will it fit?”
“Measured and everything.”
“When did you even- No, no, nevermind, I-”
“.. Are you okay?” Sutan hadn’t even considered that Violet would dislike the bed, his girlfriend never expressing any opinion on furniture, both her room in Fame’s apartment and what he had seen of her home in Paris telling him she didn’t care, but his stomach still twisted, telling him he had made a mistake. “Is this okay?”
“I am, just...” Sutan could hear a deep breath. “Ask next time. Please?”
“I will.” Sutan took a drink of his water. “I’m sorry.”
“You’re forgiven.” Violet’s voice was warm, the woman whispering into the phone. “I can’t wait to try it with you when you return.”
“Fuck.” Sutan groaned, the sound of her in his ear making warmth run down his spine. “God, long distance is killing me.”
Violet laughed. “I’ll talk to you later.”
“I’ll talk to you too.” Violet hung up, Sutan standing alone in his dark kitchen, his toes slowly turning to ice, Sutan quietly cursing himself for the fact that he hadn’t taken his slippers with him. This was hard, but it was worth it. Violet was worth it, and they would be worth it when everything worked out.

FILE // BACKGROUND
Growing up on Hermes, Cassiopeia Ryder, affectionately nicknamed Peia by her father, had nothing but the constellations in the night sky for comfort.
See, Peia had had a rough start to life; her mother and father met while they both visited the far more scenic planet of Creon, a way for them to escape the war that raged between Hermes and Antigone, and though they lost contact on that night, they later met when they were both back on Hermes. It was a whirlwind romance that lead to them falling deeply in love and marrying a few months later, despite the disapproval of those around them. They were happy together, and although life on this particular planet was difficult, they made do with what they had. Peia’s father, Aeolus, found work in the Psychrine mines, a dangerous job but one that allowed him to bring in an income for his family. Her mother worked odd jobs, finding work whenever she could, and they made life on Hermes work. At nights, when Aeolus came home from long days at work in the mines, he would take his daughter up onto the roof of their tiny home, and he would teach her about the constellations in the night sky.
This was where Peia’s love of stars was born; when she wasn’t helping her mother with her work, she would pour herself over old and badly damaged books that detailed the stars that spread across the universe. She would devour any and all information that she could get her tiny hands on, her mother joking that she was a little fiend for it. Typically, she was too engrossed in her books to respond to the quip.
And when the reality of living on Hermes came knocking, the stars would be all that she had.
It was a freak accident, like so many that happened on Hermes, but it resulted in many causalities. Rumours were that it was an Antigone plot, but none of that mattered to Peia, as one of these causalities was her mother. She had been coming back from picking up their rations for the week when the so called accident occurred, and she never came home again. Her absence tore Peia apart, the girl going from the shy and reserved bookworm to angry and cold girl who wanted something to blame for her mother being gone. Aeolus struggled to help her, having to work more shifts in the mines to help keep them afloat all while having to tend to his own grief. It caused many fights between them, many arguments that were never resolved, and Peia’s emotions and judgement grew clouded by her grief and trauma. It was this that lead her to pick pocketing.
The rush of theft was a good emotion; the euphoria of getting away with the crime was exciting and it prompted her to keep doing it. There wasn’t much of value that she stole, simply just extra rations and a few items she was sure that the owners wouldn’t miss. In her small city, her actions became somewhat infamous, with the residents knowing something was up but never knowing who was responsible for the thefts. Peia, of course, never told her father just how she managed to come into these things – the extra ration cards, some trinkets, and so on – but he was always too tired and overworked to notice what she was getting up to. Peia should have been worried about this, but she was so wrapped up in her own actions and choices, that she didn’t think for a moment that her father could have been hurt.
In a cruel twist by the universe, a collapse in a Psychrine mine resulted in Aeolus being badly injured; with his spine broken, as well as a severe head injury that left him unable to work, keeping them afloat fell onto Peia’s shoulders. Too young to work legally, Peia had to try and find a way around this, and while at first she tried to be honest about her age and situation, not many employers gave her a second look. Desperate and on the brink of losing hope, Peia lied about her age, telling her prospective employer that she was above the legal working age, and she landed herself a job. Riding on the high of it working, Peia did it again, landing herself another job. She worked them diligently, all while looking after her father. On the side, she had her pick pocketing to help her ignore how tired she was now, the rush a temporary fix to her problems.
And Peia thought she had gotten a good handle on things, although she was exhausted from all of the work she had to do, she was relatively safe. She knew the consequences of if she got caught lying, but it was the risk she had to take to be able to provide for the person who had provided for her. She began to make amends with her father and they went back to their nightly routine of watching the constellations, despite how bittersweet it was with everything the Ryder family had been through. Although she was walking a very thin line, Peia had never thought she would be brought down by someone who had no ill will against her.
She had been mid-shift when one of her father’s work friends saw her, and approached to say hi, to ask how Aeolus was keeping. The action itself was innocent enough, but her employer managed to overhear their conversation, and subsequently found out that Peia had lied about her age. Even though she was old enough to have the job now, it was still a bad enough offence that she was thrown out of work, quickly losing her second job as a result. The only reprieve came from not being outed by her employers to the government. They allowed her to go, deeming the sentence of not being able to gain work due to her dishonesty as punishment enough. This hit her hard, as she could no longer find work that wasn’t too dangerous – and working in the mines was out of the question; if she got hurt, or worse, then there would be no one left to look after her father. So, Peia did the only thing she could think to do.
Having worked in the place for a few years, Peia knew the layout of the small business and she knew where her former employer kept their supplies - rations, food, amongst other things. After one last star watching night with her father, Peia broke into the building and began to take as much as she could. She had finally tipped over the line and she paid for it. The owner came back, having forgotten something before locking up a few hours prior, and caught her redhanded. Peia panicked, the fear of being thrown in prison and being separated from her father fairly strong, and she attacked the owner, striking up a fight that left them both hurt. Moreover, it ended with Peia being arrested.
The trial was quick, with enough evidence against her that she barely had a case to argue. Despite her listing her reasons for doing, tears running down her cheeks as she begged for the judge and jury to be lenient to her and her father, Peia was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
FILE // CURRENTLY
Prison was a death sentence in for Peia. She struggled at first, barely able to contain her emotions, being labelled as weak by other inmates. She mostly kept to herself, not bothering to try and make any friends or connections. Although she was completely broken by it, Peia lied to her father when he was able to visit her. She told him that she was doing fine and that she was coping far better than she actually was. It was her last attempt at looking after her father in the only way she could now that she was no longer physically able to do so.
She worked quietly and avoided trouble while she was in prison, hoping that when her parole hearing came around, she would have proven herself as an upstanding prisoner, and therefore, she would be able to rejoin society, the promise of not re-offending on the tip of her tongue. While there, she turned back to her books, making use of the collection the prison offered, to study more on stars, slowly teaching herself as much as she could about astronomy. It was one of the ways she kept herself calm and stable, telling herself that she would be able to talk through everything she learned with her father when she got out of prison.
Peia wasn’t directly told about the ES Kolbe’s mission but she heard other prisoners talking about it. It wasn’t the way back home that she wanted and it would take her far away from the only person she had, the only family she had left, but it intrigued her. Somewhere inside of her was the same small girl who loved the stars and saw a future in them. She toyed with the idea of putting herself forward, knowing that it could either be something she regretted or something that changed her life forever. When she brought it up to her father, after many days of deliberation, Aeolus encouraged her to go for it; to be the first of their family to live amongst the stars.
Peia put herself up for the mission, highlighting her knowledge of stars, of how the universe worked and developed, as a feature of her not so glowing resume. It seemed like a long process, sitting through every step, as she was judged by people who, technically, held her fate in their hands. Much to her relief, she was accepted for the mission, and brought aboard the ES Kolbe. To say she was excited would have been an understatement, and as they left Gaia, she found the best view that she was allowed and watched the universe unfold before her for the first time.
As an astronomer, it is Peia’s job to study the new planets and galaxies they might come across in their exploration. Through the combination of chemistry, physics, and mathematics, it is her job to work alongside the other astronomers and sciences officers to help find suitable planets for the Third Frontier to settle on.
On a more selfish note, Peia secretly hopes to discover a new constellation, one that she would name after her father.

PREPARE FOR THE PERSEIDS The Perseid meteor shower, an annual celestial event beloved by millions of skywatchers around the world, is about to make its annual return to the night sky. It’s predicted to reach its peak late on the night of Tuesday, August 11th, and early on Wednesday, August 12th. Head out after sunset and catch as many meteors as you can before the Moon rises shortly after midnight (local time). Begin watching for meteors soon after evening twilight ends. By then the shower’s radiant, its perspective point of origin in the constellation Perseus, has risen above the northeastern horizon. The few Perseids that appear this early will be spectacularly long “earthgrazers” that skim along the top of the atmosphere. The higher the radiant, the more meteors you’ll see -- so when Perseus is higher in the northeast, more meteors will appear all over the sky. The last-quarter Moon rises shortly after midnight, and its light will wash out fainter meteors. But don’t despair: The Perseids are a long-lived event, and you should see meteors -- though fewer in number -- for several nights before and after the night of the peak. To enjoy the Perseids, you need no equipment but your eyes. Find a dark spot away from bright lights with a wide-open view all around if possible. Bring a reclining lawn chair or a ground cloth so you can lie back and watch the sky in comfort. Bundle up in blankets or a sleeping bag, both for mosquito shielding and for warmth; clear nights can grow surprisingly chilly. Next, relax, be patient, and let your eyes adapt to the darkness. “These ‘shooting stars’ can appear anywhere and everywhere in the sky -- you don’t have to look at the radiant to see them,” advises Diana Hannikainen (pronounced HUHN-ih-KY-nen), Sky & Telescope’s Observing Editor. “So the best direction to watch is wherever your sky is darkest, usually straight up.” Faint Perseids appear as tiny, quick streaks. Occasional brighter ones might sail across the heavens for several seconds and leave a brief train of glowing smoke. When you see a meteor, track its path backward. If you eventually come to the constellation Perseus -- which climbs higher in the northeastern sky as the night progresses -- then you’ve just witnessed a Perseid. Occasionally you might spot an interloper. The weaker Delta Aquariid and Kappa Cygnid showers are also active during Perseid season, and there are sometimes a few random, “sporadic” meteors. All of these track back to other parts of the sky. It’s a fun exercise to track these back to their radiants: If it’s not in Perseus, they’re not Perseids! Any light pollution will cut down the numbers visible. But the brightest few meteors shine right through light pollution. In fact, a NASA analysis of all-sky images taken from 2008 to 2013 shows that the Perseids deliver more bright meteors (those that outshine any star) than any other annual meteor shower. How and Why Meteors are caused by tiny, sandgrain- to pea-size bits of dusty debris streaking into the top of Earth’s atmosphere roughly 80 miles (130 km) up. Each Perseid particle zips in at 37 miles per second, creating a quick, white-hot streak of superheated air. The nuggets in Grape Nuts cereal are a close match to the estimated size, color, and texture of typical meteor-shower particles. The Perseid bits were shed long ago by Comet Swift-Tuttle and are distributed all along the comet’s 133-year-long orbit around the Sun. Earth passes through this tenuous “river of rubble” every year in mid-August. The comet is so named because it was independently discovered by Lewis Swift and Horace Parnell Tuttle in July 1862. Masterlist - Beginning- Previous- Next
--------------------
Tumblr media
They asked questions through your daily routine- that’s what made it more awkward. It wasn’t just a whole bunch of people standing by you, they wanted your thoughts on things and to talk out loud to yourself.
You were getting ready to go out tonight, this time it was the first voted one- you were nervous. You walked on the set and the guys were already waiting.
“Here she is!” Tony called, the cameras following you as you crossed the stage to sit down. A blush still formed on your cheeks and you quickly tried to get the attention away from you. “Let’s see what you voters had to say! Who is the next lucky guy?” You waited as he pulled up the screen. “It looks like Bucky is our next guy!”
Your eyes went over to Bucky and he gave you a shy smile, the blush on your cheeks deepening.
“Planetarium date is a go! You two have fun now!” Tony started pushing you towards the edge of the set, Bucky following. You were already going?!
It was a similar situation, the car ride had cameras but not audio and the place you were being driven to had cameras and some audio but you could mostly talk about whatever you wished.
You glanced over at Bucky and he stepped ahead, opening the door for you.
“Th-thank you.” You muttered with a small smile and nod, scooting into the car.
Bucky slid in after you and he let out a sigh. “There’s cameras everywhere.”
You nodded and sighed back, “It’s unnerving.”
“Right?” He chuckled, looking over at you, “It’s already a little awkward enough- not that being with you is awkward…”
You laughed, “I get it! We hardly know each other and we’re pushed onto all of these events and dates and sets!”
“I guess that’s the point.” Bucky hummed next to you, seeming pleased he got you to loosen up a bit. “So are you ready to look at the stars?”
“As ready as I’ll ever be, given the situation.” You giggled a little and turned to him, “Are you?”
He shrugged, “I’m already a little more relaxed than when I got in, thanks to you. I think we’ll be alright.” He gave you a sideways grin.
You nodded, “I’m not any less nervous than with Peter-”
“That’s because you have me to look forward to!” He winked and you pushed him playfully, arriving.
You both got out and had to wait for them to set the cameras up to walk up towards the top. There was an elevator and a set of stairs that spun around the building towards the top.
You waited for the elevator and it chimed, climbing you and Bucky and a cameraman towards the top. You tried to look anywhere but the camera but it was right in front of your face. Getting out, you breathed a little more freely again, walking towards the railing and looking down.
“Wow! It’s great up here!” You grinned.
“You haven’t seen the best part yet.” Bucky grinned back, looking through a telescope. He looked up and nodded down towards it.
You walked over and looked inside, seeing the sky above the both of you more clearly than you ever have.
You gasped a little unconsciously, “Oh my.”
You heard a low chuckle from next to you, “My guess is you’ve never done this before?”
You shook your head slightly, raising your gaze to look at him, “This whole experience is new for me.”
“What do you mean?” He tilted his head, leaning in close and peering in the scope.
You swallowed a little hard, “I’ve never had anyone do my hair and makeup before or worn fancy designer clothes or been on dates with men I don’t really know. And I definitely never thought I’d be on tv.”
He laughed, “Me either, so I don’t know if I know how you feel.”
You chuckled, turning around to look up at the sky again and catching a glimpse of one of the cameras. Right, you were both obligated to be here. This was all set up. You hadn’t forgotten that with Peter but you both had a lot of fun with it- with Bucky for a moment you had. Which made it harder for you- maybe he was pretending to be this cool and collected and nice because he was on camera. You didn’t really know any of them, anyways.
“Y/N?” You heard from behind you and you snapped out of your train of thought and turned around.
“Sorry,” You smiled, shaking your head.
He was peering at you like he was worried and he mouthed, “Are you okay?”
You nodded with a wink, “Promise.” You mouthed back.
He smiled again and you both walked around the top of the place for a while, he was explaining some of the constellations for you.
“So you know a lot about this stuff, huh?” You asked, continuing to watch the sky.
He nodded, a little more shy than you had seen him all night. Maybe he was comfortable because he knew about this stuff, not because of the cameras.
“This is amazing-” You shook your head, “I wish I knew more about it.”
He paused as you both took a couple more steps, “I could lend you a couple of books on it if you want.”
Your eyes turned to him and a huge grin spread across your face, “Really? That would be amazing! You don’t have to though…”
He chuckled, “I wouldn’t have offered if I didn’t want to lend them to you. Besides, if you like it we can talk about it together.” His eyes met yours and you blushed again.
Walking in silence for a good half an hour, neither of you seemed to mind it. You both had been thinking about certain things and neither of you wanted to break the other one from them.
You had arrived back at the beginning of the roof, and you kicked off your heels. Bucky looked over at you with a confused expression. You took a couple of steps towards the stairs and looked over your shoulder at him.
“Race you to the bottom!” You called with a grin as you dashed.
You heard a chuckle from him behind you as he called, “No fair, cheater!”
It had not only caught Bucky off guard but the cameraman as well- you had no eyes on you but Bucky as he followed you, hot on your heels all the way down until he jumped over the railing to hit the ground at the same time as you.
You both were slightly out of breath and laughing, opening the door to outside.
“You called me a cheater? You hopped the railing!”
“You never said I couldn’t!” He fought back, neither of you noticing the looks that were back on you until you reached the car.
You cleared your throat as you turned to open the door, reminding yourself you were here because of Tony and his stupid contract.
---
“Welcome back!” Tony had greeted once you returned, “How was it?”
Bucky had looked over at you with a grin and you responded with, “It was nice! I had a lot of fun.” Before sitting down.
“What about you, Barnes?”
“Y/N is different than what I was expecting. In a good way.” He blushed, sitting down as well as he continued to look over at you.
You blushed, looking around the room. “Why is there another set of votes on the screen?”
“You’re going on another date, tomorrow afternoon!”
“So soon?” As soon as you said it you regretted it- Tony gave you a look and you sat back in your chair.
“Your date for tomorrow is going to be Sam Wilson!” He returned to his normal tone and looked over at the cameras. “It was a bit of a shock but there was some last minute entries to put him near the top.”
--
Getting a breather from the screen, you were surprised when you turned around and Peter was beside you.
You stopped mid-jump before smacking him a little on the arm, “You scared the crap out of me!”
He rubbed his neck, “I’m sorry! I just wanted to check on you and make sure you were doing alright.” He tilted his head.
You gave him a small smile and nod, “I’ll be fine! The faster the first round is over, the less I have to worry about so many people, right?”
“I suppose… Come on, I’ll walk you back to your room.” He gave another sweet smile and you calmed down a little. “So how was the date?”
You giggled a little, “Trying to get a leg up on the competition, eh?”
He nudged you some as he said back playfully, “I’m only a little worried because Bucky’s an old man. He probably couldn’t keep up with you.”
You laughed, hard. “You couldn’t be more wrong.”
His eyebrows raised, “Oh, really.”
You smacked him again on the arm, “Not like that. You got the wrong idea about the leading lady, my friend.”
“So what is she really like, then?” He stopped and turned to you, his eyes widening a little as he looked behind you. You stopped and followed his gaze, catching a camera following a little while off.
You turned back and sighed, “I guess you’ll have to read between the lines.” You gave him a small smile before turning to walk again. He stopped a couple steps short of your door and gave you a nod.
“See ya later, then.” He smiled.
“Later, spiderman.” You winked and without really thinking it through, you leaned in and gave him a kiss on the cheek, “Thanks for worrying about me.”
-----------------------
Note: So my next part is going to be Sam’s date- then there’s only Thor and Steve left for the first round! Who should be after, where should they go? And also, do you guys have thoughts on who should be eliminated after the first round? Please let me know! :D

You had a secret, a secret that only one other person on the planet knew. You’re smart, really smart, like you have a higher IQ than Tony Stark smart. You’re strong to and bullet proof, your brains and strength were things you inherited from your dad Bruce Banner. But you hid these traits away from the outside world, at the urging of your father. He wanted you to blend in and stay safe, according to him it was bad enough that had a target on your back because of who he was, he didn’t want people to go after you because of your own talents as well. So you took it to the extreme, you acted dumb, like a complete air head.  You continued this even when you and your Dad moved into Avengers Tower. But in your defense if was really funny and it always made your Dad laugh.
“Good morning, Y/N.” Friday says as you walk
“Hi, FRIDAY!” You say in your high pitched sing song voice. “So when is JARVIS coming back?”
“He’s not. Remember, Honey? Jarvis is in Vision now.” Tony says in a soft voice.
“Oh! You were promoted? Maybe you can show me where your old office is!!” You ask Vision. This has been a ‘game’ you’ve been playing since you first arrived, you act like you think Jarvis is a man in a room with a microphone in an office. Everyone sighs and Tony launches into a patient explanation about how JARVIS and FRIDAY are AI’s.
“Come on, Y/N, you can do your class work while I work in the lab.” Your Dad says.
“Ugh, internet school is sooo hard.” You groan. Then you follow your dad out of the room and down to the lab.
“So how’s your experiment going?” You dad asks as you enter the lab.
“Pretty good, the cells are reacting like I hypothesized they would.” You say as you move to your section of the lab, dropping your voice down to its regular octave.
“I still can’t believe my kid is getting her PHD in her teens.” You dad murmurs.
“Well I get my smarts from you, so I don’t know why you’re so astonished.” You say as you look into your microscope.
“Tony’s worried about you.” Your dad murmurs after a couple of minutes of silence.
“Why?” You ask.
“On our date yesterday he was telling me about all of these programs and therapists he found for you. He wants to help and he kept talking about getting you all these tutors and specialists. He thinks you need to socialize with people your own age. He even offered to pay to send you to private school.” Your Dad murmurs.
“Aww, he does care.” You say.
“Of course he does. He refers to you as his step daughter, you know.” Your Dad says.
“We could tell him, you know.” You say.
“Soon.” Your Dad murmurs.
“Dr. Banner, Tony and a guest are requesting entry into your lab.” Friday says.
“Let them in, Fri.” You say before you move to the desk with the open laptop you have set up.
“Hey guys, this is Peter. He’s the new recruit.” Tony says.  “This is Bruce and Y/N Banner. I thought Peter could help Y/N with her school work, since they’re in the same grade.”
“That’s a nice thought, Tony. But Y/N is doing fine.” Your Dad says.
“Well, maybe they can just hang out. Y/N, you don’t really have any friends your own age right?” Tony asks.
“Right!” You say.
“Okay, it’s settled then!” Tony says as he claps his hands. “Here’s some money go have fun.” He murmurs as he shoves a couple hundred dollars into your hand.
“Thanks, Tones!” You squeal and then you grab Peters hand and drag him out of the lab.
“So, where do you go to school?” Peter asks as the two of you wait in line for ice cream.
“Online.” You say. Then the two of you start talking about classes and other things. Peter was nice and funny and took everything you said in stride. He wasn’t treating you like you were dumb either- even though you were acting like you were. Eventually the two of you have to go back to the tower.
***
It had been a month since Tony introduced you to Peter. The two of you hung out constantly and Tony couldn’t be more thrilled about it. He always had this huge smile on his face when he saw you and Peter talking quietly to one another.
“You and Peter are getting close.” Your Dad says as you work on your dissertation.
“Yeah, he’s really nice and funny.” You mumble. Then the building shakes. “What was that?”
“I don’t know.” Your Dad murmurs. Then men with guns storm the lab and drag you and your dad into the common room. Everyone is handcuffed or knocked out. They shove you onto the couch and you look to your dad, his skin is rippling green.
“Dad.” You murmur.
“It’s fine.” He grunts out. All of the men are focused on tying your Dad up. So you rush them, knocking 3 of them out immediately. Then the remaining men turn to shoot you, all of your fathers teammates start to yell and scream, but the bullets just crush as they hit your skin. The entire room falls quiet and you finish knocking all of the intruders out. You turn to your Dad- who was mid transformation. You wait calmly.
“Hello.” You say as the Hulk grunts.
“Y/N/N.” Hulk says.
“How’ve you been? It’s been a while?”
“Good. How school?” Hulk grunts out.
“Pretty good, I started my dissertation this year.” You answer.
“Good. Y/N/N strong like Hulk, smart like little guy.” Hulk says.
“Yeah, I got the best of both of you.” You say as you smile. You glance over to the rest of the rest of the Avengers. Their all staring at you with shocked expressions. Tony and Peter both look betrayed. “I need Dad back.”
“No, I protect you.” Hulk grunts out.
“I know and you’re so good at that, but I need Dad back now.” You say and Hulk nods and starts to shrink down and the two of you share a panicked look.
“What the heck was that?” Tony yells. Then you and your Dad explain everything. How you were actually a super strong, bullet proof, genius and everyone accepts it with a quick nod and they leave the room, taking the intruders with them.
“Why didn’t you tell me? I-I thought what we had….Obviously I was wrong.” Tony says as his shoulders slump. Peter hadn’t said anything he was just looking at you with a funny look on his face.
“We were going to tell you- both of you- soon. It’s just we’ve gotten so used to it. It was the best way to protect me growing up.” You say. “Tony, you’re amazing and I’ve wanted to tell you the second you asked Dad out, but it-.”
“I-I get it. I’m hurt, but I understand. Growing up with a target on your back must have been rough and I’m sure having people underestimate you has saved you more than once. I’m glad I know now, think of all the cool stuff we can invent together- as a family.” Tony says as he slings an arm over your shoulder.
“Thanks….Pops.” You say and Tony’s grin gets even bigger. Peters still staring at you and Tony notices.
“We’ll leave you kids to talk.” Tony says as he wraps his arm around your Dads waist to lead him out of the room.
“Hey.” You murmur as you sit down next to Peter.
“So, you’re smart.” Peter murmurs.
“Yeah, like really smart.” You say as you grin at Peter.
“S-So you lied?” Peter asks.
“Kinda, but if it makes you feel any better. I’ve wanted to tell you the truth since the day we met.” You say.
“Really?”
“Yeah, you’re the nicest person I’ve ever met. I-I think I’m falling in love with you.” You murmur and Peter gasps and then he gently pulls your face to his and gives you a chaste kiss.
“Hey, Parker, stop kissing my kid!” Tony shouts from the next room. You pull away from Peter as you chuckle.
“Would you go on a date with me?” Peter asks.
“Yeah, that sounds great.” You murmur before pulling Peter back into another kiss.
