Ch209 (p3), Offers and lies
The remaining circus members are just as clueless as he is -- actually more clueless -- so he sets off to find answers. Somehow, he figures out that Smile must be "Ciel Phantomhive", who sometimes works with Scotland Yard. I consider this an interesting hole in the story, and fans might be tempted to fill that in....
Anyway, it's too soon to think the rest of the first tier are dead, so he's holding out for getting to the bottom of this, finding them again, and finally being accepted as a true member of their family.
Tumblr media
Snake doesn't want to believe they are kidnappers, but he knows they are up to no good. These conflicting thoughts and feelings are like snakes, as they "writhed and tangled" inside his mind.
Tumblr media
Even after our earl tells him what the circus is secretly up to, Snake hopes to be reunited with the ones he was closest to. He wants them to atone for their mistakes but then live in peace and happiness.
Tumblr media
He sees joining the Phantomhive household as his best bet for finding them, especially since our earl lies about their whereabouts/fates. They are dead, but our earl claims he's still searching for them.
Life with the Phantomhives definitely has its perks, in the meantime. Gaining a basic education, not being gawked at by spectators, great food, and so on.
Tumblr media
Of course, there's the incident on the ship, with the rude ladies, but our earl and Sebastian both work to build up his self confidence and self esteem.
Tumblr media
He enjoys being with the Phantomhive household, and he might see them becoming his family. Despite this, Snake still misses the circus troupe and longs to be with them again.
Thanks to Doll being reanimated as a Bizarre Doll, Snake's hopes have come true, just not as expected.
Last part coming up.

Hey I'm curious, if you did get back into academia what would you go for? Would you go back for multiple things if you could?
The timing of this ask couldn't have been better; I just got home from the library a few minutes ago, and my selection is a pretty good indicator of my current academic interests:
Shark Trouble, Peter Benchley (nonfiction)
The Math Book (Big Ideas Simply Explained series)
Astronomy for Dummies, Feinberg
The Wave: In Pursuit of Rogues, Freaks, and Giants of the Ocean, Susan Casey
Easy Algebra Step-By-Step, 2nd ed., McCune & Clark
I've almost finished Carl Sagan's Billions and Billions, which I've been reading piecemeal since February (it's a good supplement to his extremely enjoyable Cosmos series), and of course a rampaging monster novel for pure entertainment. 😆
The math books are to brush up on my algebra skills in anticipation of learning calculus (guided self-learning), and I have a deep (ha) and abiding love for the ocean and sharks. I'd originally intended to check out some amateur radio books—I'm a Level 1 Technician but I let my license lapse and need a refresher to renew—but there were none to be found. I'll look again later.
But to answer your question, if time and money were no object, I'd go back to school for multiple things—and probably end up a lifelong scholar. I'd work on earning my Masters in English or Creative Writing first (I have an Associate's in the former), maybe even a PhD (oh, to be Dr. Hal Bender!) and take more language classes, too. A degree in Art and/or Illustration would be agreeable to me as well. Wouldn't mind getting back into symphony either, though I probably wouldn't study music formally. Same with Film; I learned more about storytelling from a film class than I did in any lit class I've taken.
The arts are my most developed skill set, but I love the sciences, particularly oceanography, geology, GIS, and computers. I've only recently taken a keener interest in astronomy (thanks, Carl), though I don't see myself ever getting a degree in it. (Unless?)
TL;DR, I just want to live in a university and learn and write stuff and make art and travel the oceans and understand how everything works. Become wise as well as knowledgeable. I'm glad I've got a library to help me work on achieving that.

becoming your dream self: part 1 - creating your aesthetic blueprint ♡
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hello darlingssss, it's mindy here to start our journey into becoming our most ethereal selves. especially for 2025, i already have a 2025 series, i'll be creating the masterlist for it soon!! but today we're laying the foundation of your dream persona, but not in the way you might expect. forget traditional vision boards - we're creating an aesthetic blueprint that speaks to your soul.
first, let's do something unconventional: spend a week documenting the moments that make your heart flutter.
i keep a tiny notebook in my favorite cardigan (i wear almost everydayyy) pocket and write down everything that causes that magical feeling - the way morning light hits your teacup, the sound of vintage jewelry boxes closing, the rustle of paper when turning pages in old books. the smell of rain, dark academia spotify playlists, etc! you don't need to keep a notebook in your pocket (as most notebooks don't fit) so you can bring a normal-sized one but just bring a bag with you that your notebook fits into. ex: tote bags.
here's my secret technique: create what i call "sensory anchors." choose five specific sensory experiences that embody your dream self:
a signature scent (mine is a mix of rose water and old books, or even victoria secret perfume)
a specific texture (i chose raw silk)
a recurring sound (my antique music box melody)
a taste (earl grey with lavender honey)
a visual motif (pressed flowers between glass)
next, we build these into daily rituals. instead of just planning how you want to look, plan how you want to feel.
my tip: create a "dream self hour" - the first hour after waking where you live exactly as your dream self would. don't check your phone, don't rush. move slowly, deliberately, like you're in a soft-focus film.
note: your dream self isn't just about appearance - it's about creating an atmosphere that follows you everywhere. i keep tiny vials of my signature scent in every bag, pressed flowers in my wallet, and a music box tune for my ring tones on my phone. these little touches help you embody your dream self even in mundane moments. it's really the first step to creating your dream self/persona
homework for this week: identify your five sensory anchors and practice incorporating at least one each day. document how it makes you feel in a dedicated journal.
with love and whispers of possibility, mindy ♡
