“Mick!!!” You exclaimed “where are you?!”

“I'm right here.” He responds from behind you and you spin around with a grin on your face. “Hi”

“Hi [y/n]” you look up at him. Gosh he’s really beautiful, he looks like an angel, your angel. “In your text you asked me to come meet you. "What's up?”

“I wanted to ask you if you would like to go to dinner this evening with me and Emma ? We wanted to celebrate the beginning of the new season, she thinks it may bring luck.”

Emma? He wanted to have dinner with you and Emma? As in his girlfriend Emma ? You frown “Well as much as I’d like that I don’t want to intrude, also Meave and l have plans for girls night tonight, so no, but thank you for inviting me Mickey.” You stand up on your tippy toes and plant a kiss on his cheek before you leave the Haas motorhome. Your mind is racing, she wants to celebrate because it will bring luck? He doesn’t need luck and celebrating before something happens most likely won’t bring good luck, it will probably only attract negativity!

Gosh you didn’t even really know her and you already didn’t like her. And why do you feel like you could throw up when you’re thinking about him having a nice romantic dinner with his girlfriend? ‘I probably just ate something bad this morning…’ you say to yourself.

Mick watches you walk away.

And like always with every step you make you take his heart with you.

It’s wrong that he feels like this, you're his best friend, nothing more, and he’s in a relationship with a woman he really likes just not loves.

“Maeve?!" You shout as you walk through the door into your apartment that you share with your best friend “open the wine, we will need it!”

“Oh shit” you could hear her swear as she scrambled from the couch and slithered into the kitchen to open the red wine you keep restocked for exactly these kinds of moments.” What did he do?” She asks you. Sometimes you think she’s able to read your mind.

You sigh” let’s sit down.”

She nods and both of you grab your wine glass. When you’re settled on the couch she looks at you expectantly but before you can even begin to tell her how horrible your life is right now you bring your glass to your lips and take a big gulp.

“Alright, I just wanna start by saying that I don’t know why this feels so wrong and I have no idea what it means but heinvitedmetodinnerwithhisgirlfriendandihatedtheideasomuchiwantedtopuke.”

Meave stares at you blankly and then starts to laugh. “Excuse me, what did you say? The beginning I understood but then you started speaking so fast not even Spencer Reid could’ve kept up with you.” She sent you a meaningful look “tell me again, nice and slow alright?”

“Mimimi it wasn’t that bad” you huff.

“Not that bad?!" Babe you talked faster than Usain Bolt runs!”

“Hey!”

She laughs” come one now, tell me”

“What I said is that Mick invited me to dinner with his girlfriend and I hated the idea so much I wanted to puke. Like I said before I’ve got no idea why I disliked this so much, I mean she seems pretty nice…”

“Pretty nice?!" She stole your sweet angel Mick!”

You sigh sadly “How could she steal something that was never mine to begin with?” You take another sip of wine and Meave copies you before answering.

“Never yours? Girl are you blind? He looks at you like you yourself created the sun and painted the sky. He is so one hundred percent in love with you, you both are, you’re just too afraid to admit it.”

“Well he has a girlfriend now, I can’t just steal him away. I mean it was different once, two years ago I could’ve easily made a move but now? Now he’s an important part of my life. If I tell him and he leaves me I could never come back from it. “

“Oh sweets, I’m so sorry, but I still believe that he likes you and that everything will turn out like it’s supposed to.” She hugs you tight, your empty glasses long forgotten on the living room floor.

“Well then I guess we’re best friends?”

“For now” Meave whispers.

A warm savoury smell hits your nose as soon as you open your front door.  

“Hey Bonnie, welcome home!” You heard John yelling out from the kitchen. Taking off your shoes and hanging up your coat, you make your way to the kitchen. There you were greeted by the sight of candlelight and roses pedals. 

“What’s the occasion darling? OH gosh that really smells good.” 

“Do I need an occasion to treat my wife?” he replied as you put your bags down. “Go have a shower first, dinner will be ready soon.” “Where’s Simon?” “He’s at Big Simon’s house. Mini said he can have a sleepover with his cousins today. None of you have a shift scheduled tomorrow right? Just relax.” 

You chuckled at the nickname. The nickname was coined by Mini’s daughter, when they all came and visited the baby as a newborn.

“Tiny, Aileen, you want to come and say hi to your cousin?” 

“... What is his name?” Aileen asked.

“Simon, we named him after your daddy.”

“.... So he is little Simon, and Da is big Simon.” Mini and John laughed their heads off while Simon just grumbled. And the nickname stuck ever since.

Fresh and relaxed from a hot shower, you sat down by the dining table, sipping on the wine John just poured for you.  That’s when realisation hit.

“... John, WHY ARE YOU NAKED UNDER THE APRON?” “ You only just realised?”  He replied with a cheeky smile as he twirled himself around. 

You narrow your eyes. He is certainly up to something. “ Are you trying to get into my pants tonight?” 

“ Maybe? Maybe not? Can’t you just appreciate your husband’s body for now?” he chuckled as he faced away from you, with a slow and deliberate movement, bending over to check the cottage pie inside the oven. This man will be the death of you, you swear. And he nearly worked you to near death with all the love making that night. 

“Twins?”

“Twins.” “Does my brother know?” Mini asked excitingly.

“Not yet… I haven’t even told him about the pregnancy yet.” “Well, you two certainly have been busy.” 

You slapped your good friend on her arm, blushing furiously.

“I still got the twin’s newborn clothes if you need them.” “ Thanks Mini, it will be much appreciated. I still got some of Simon’s.But I am sure I will need more.” 

Putting the last of the washings on the line, you feel someone tackle hug you from behind. “Johnny! Didn’t expect you to be back so early??” You turned around and wrapped your arms around his neck, happy and surprised he is home. 

“Mission went smoother than expected. Plus I miss my family so much.” John picked you up with ease while peppering you with kisses. You let out a little scream,

“ Careful of the babies Johnny!!!” “... Babies?” 

He sat you down gently on the ground, looking at you, confusion clear on his face. He looked behind you, all the baby clothes on the line. Grabbing his hand gently from behind you, moving it to your stomach, you smiled at him. “ Yes casanova, babies.” “ Plural? Babies?? Two? Oh please don’t tell me there’s three.”

You laughed, “ oh gosh no, just two, there’s only enough space for two in here.”

He burst out crying with joy. Again.

“Congratulations! You have twin boys…You got names for them already?”“Jonathan and Kyle.”

Now MacTavish/Riley households named all their kids after 141 team members 🙂 There's always a lot of confusions during gatherings.

my name is emma, i’m bi and i’m an extrovert (entp according to myers briggs). my hobbies are reading, playing soccer and writing poetry. i’m also a very bad artist and enjoy pottery for fun (and not for the end result which is always a mess lol). another hobby of mine, if it counts as a hobby, is debating with people about almost anything. i just love a good debate and love going back and forth on a topic for hours.

in my friendships i am down for anything and will do anything for my friends. even though i’m typically the one getting us into trouble because i truly will try anything once and tend to act without thinking it through fully. i’m also just a huge talker and can talk my way into and out of anything. but if a friend needs me i will drop everything to be there for them. i missed a final exam once to fly to see one of my friends when her boyfriend dumped her. and i would do it again lol. much to the chagrin of my parents.

other details…. my style is fairly feminine with lots of skirts and silk dresses and ballet flats. my dream city to live in is marseille and my dream profession is to be a writer and somehow make money with poetry and novels. i’m studying philosophy and french at school. i barely sleep because i wake up every morning at 6 and can’t fall asleep until late in the night. i love cooking new recipes and baking for friends.

my love language to others is giving them gifts. my love language to receive is quality time. i can be pretty guarded romantically and use humor as a coping mechanism and it can take a long time to actually know me. i’m slow to trust and i’ve never had a long relationship bc i always end up breaking up with them around the three month mark. i just get kind of scared of commitment and love. (even though i do want those things.)

also according to all the tests and quizzes i am either a slytherin or a ravenclaw. i can never decide which fits best. though i do have intense ambition and tend to be an all or nothing type of person. like while i do get great grades and have never failed a class, i am so bad at actually studying and i tend to procrastinate until the last minute and still get an a. so i’m not quite studious but i am smart. and a little conceited sometimes which definitely doesn’t ever help me.

anyways, moving on 🙃 honestly, i can see you with either theodore nott or pansy parkinson, but mostly theo. in any case, you're definitely in a enemies-to-lovers or friends-to-lovers scenario.

with theo, you guys start out as great friends who tend to have a lot of witty banter amongst each other. most likely you met through some sort of study group or through mutual friends and began to bond that way. theo would for sure be the first to fall for you - he loves a girl who can rebuttal his arguments and debate with him without just giving up when they don't win the argument. he appreciates your wit and ambition, as well as your soft side. he probably first fell in love with you when you dropped everything to be there for him on a bad day, and subsequently, he later admired his feelings for you in a similar situation.

theo's not good with his emotions in any way, shape, or form - so he never admits when he's feeling down. procrastinating your upcoming exam, you decide to go hang out with theo in his dorm. but you find the dorm empty at first, with no one in sight. you call our for theo's name, and search all around the dorm before turning towards the bathroom. the door was closed, but it was obviously occupied because of the shadow and light coming out of it. you knocked on the door. "theo, are you in there?" you hear a small "no" in response, followed by a sniffle. "i can't come in cause i don't know if you're... indecent or whatever. please, let me in?" there's a silence after that, one that concerns you a worrying amount, but soon you hear him and get off the floor and open the door. you expect him to let you in, but as soon as your in his sights, he throws his arms around your neck. he's an abysmal mess, his hair tusseled (more than usual), his eyes red and puffy. you can feel the shoulder of your shirt become stained with your tears. at first, it's the shock that causes you to sit in there before wrapping your arms around him and rubbing his shoulders comfortingly. "what's wrong?" at his silence, you tell him to take his time and lead him over to the bed, sitting him down and hugging his side. you sit there for a long time before he explains to you that today was the day his mother died. you never knew he didn't have a mother, let alone that she was dead. "god i'm so sorry, really theo . . . i didn't know." so the two of you sit there for a good long while, his face buried in the crook of your neck while you rub his shoulders, not caring for the burning pain growing in your fingers. theo needs you right now. and in the end, after who knows how long, he sits up and looks at you. his expression is so odd, you don't know what to think - it honestly makes you nervous trying to understand what he's thinking about. he abruptly blurts out, "will you go out with me." it was more a statement then anything and so unexpected you started to laugh. there he was, his face red and hair messy, staring at you completely serious, awaiting your response . . . "all right."

Quick overview on Lilli's Pokémon... Rewrite? Verse? Idk what this is lmao

All I really know for sure is that I have a lot of thoughts about pokemon's lore and plotlines. I want to try my hand at connecting stuff with a little more continuity because it's fun! There's no way I can get to everything because we'd be here all day, but I figured I'd set up the basic premise and include some fun notes/headcanons!

My general idea is focusing from the anime (up until Horizons) while also including more components from the games (such as more of the SWSH plot/rivals, Emma from XY's post game, Zinnia and the Delta Episode, etc). I also include a multitude of my own original characters, along with some of my friends' (most prominently @starkitters's goobers). Storylines are generally divided up by "sagas" based on the original generation they take place in! I may include some Horizons as it would coincide with ScaVio, but I need to catch up with that series (though from the looks of it it’s all pretty banger)!

This concept is definitely going to mostly get smaller things of art/comics/drabbles and whatnot rather than a full-fic/comic series or whatever because... oh gosh there's way too much. Also obviously not going to cover every single anime episode bit by bit because that would make me insane!!

As for a general timeline— a lot of this main stuff would kinda unfold in the span of 2-3 years? I might make it longer, but then again a lot can happen in even just a month, y’know? Generally, Ash would stay 10 between Indigo League-Advanced, 11 by DP-XYZ, and 12 during SuMo-Journeys. The Legends Arceus shenanigans would probably be during Journeys and the ScaVio stuff is definitely after (I'm thinking potentially a year or so after Journeys' saga would be wrapped up? Though it could even be immediately after idk).

There is. A ton of information even just in this little intro post, and a lot of it isn’t even fully concrete either. But if you find the time to read through it all, I’d really appreciate feedback!

General/Introductory Information

Earlier involvement from rivals/evil teams such as the Galar Rivals, N and Team Plasma, Team Skull, etc! All of that will be covered more in the respective sagas they all appear in, lol

I'm kind of on the fence for whether or not more player characters would be included? May, Dawn, and Serena are canon companions/major characters the anime, I'm including Brendan as Birch's son and Lucas as Dawn's twin brother, Akari and Rei are both going to be native to Hisui, etc.

So far, the mc roles that are taken up by OCs include my characters Lilac (involved in XYZ/SuMo but becomes a Swsh Gym Challenger), Stacy (Emmet's daughter, travels back to Hisui to find her missing Uncle), and Chrys (main Naranja student involved with Nemona, Arven, Penny, and also Kieran and Blueberry stuff). @starkitters's oc Arthur also kinda takes an mc role as Hop's bestie/neighbor and the two of them work with the knight-wolf duo (Zacian and Zamazenta) instead of Ash and Goh just kinda... feeling shoved in there. Ash and his Journeys buddies still get involved in the Darkest Day shenanigans, but another Gym challenger/Hop's bestie)

While characters like Red and Blue/Green aren't really going to be involved since Ash and Gary already kinda take up those roles, there is potential in making like... Ash's dad a Red-esque character? A character based on Leaf? We've also gotten cameos of Jimmy (Gold/Ethan) and Marina (Krys) from the old OVAs and Lyra is briefly seen during DP... but tbh we get so little on them it wouldn't be too difficult to make the OVAs an au or something? I'll have to play with all of it.

The Black and White/Best Wishes saga is going to get some major storyline reworks. Team Rocket (Jessie, James, Meowth, and Wobuffet, etc) aren't going to start actually doing evil shit/working directly with Giovanni out of nowhere. Rather, they get have their own route uncovering stuff about N and Team Plasma, which follows more of the storyline from BW1. Characters from BW2 like Colress and Hugh are definitely still going to appear and their deal won't really change too much, but I'll have to figure out their involvement (especially with Colress he’s got a lot of potential for his own stuff imo). Cheren and Bianca are in a "halfway" sorta period and acting as apprentices for Lenora and Juniper respectively.

I'm mostly going off of the Scarlet side of the ScaVio storyline, with Naranja Academy being in Mesagoza and Sada being the professor inside Area Zero. However, Uva Academy and Turo are also going to be involved! Essentially, Naranja is a school that focuses on helping its students figure out and prepare for careers connected with pokemon (trainers, coordinators, breeders, doctors/nurses, etc) in a more general sense. Uva Academy in Zapapico is primarily a research school (especially prominent for professors and scientists) while Blueberry in Unova specializes in professional battling (League Members, Battle Facilities, etc). Naranja provides courses and connections for careers Uva and Blueberry have niches in, but it's the difference between attending a more well-rounded school and attending a specialized one, if that makes sense.

Turo develops the Terastral Orbs used throughout the Paldea region, while Sada focused on Area Zero and develops the time machine that brings past and future Paradox Pokemon. Their relationship is super complicated and messy /pos. I don't think they ever got officially married, but they're 100% divorced in spirit.

Since the games kinda write Sada and Turo interchangeably (even outside of the whole AI deal) and they're described in the same ways besides pronouns and stuff, I want to make the professors a little more distinct from each other. Sada dives head-first into her passions and doesn't like anything or anyone holding her back, Turo is more conscientious but can come off a lot colder than he intends sometimes, etc.

I know most people hc the Subway twins (Ingo and Emmet), Elesa, Skyla, etc to be in like their late 20s/early 30s... but since I gave Emmet a daughter who's the mc of the Legends Arceus saga... they're actually gonna be slightly younger than Lusamine (around 38 or so) lmao. Let's get more nice and hot older adults up in here

Silver (Giovanni's son/Johto rival) is included! Since there's already a baby Lugia in the anime named Silver and that's just... too perfect, this rendition of the character is going to be named Sage (Yomogi in Japanese). I'm still figuring out his personality and stuff since Paul's whole "be the strongest/pokemon are just tools" thing was pulled from game!Silver, but I kinda want to play with Sage being a little more mellowed out by the time we would meet him in Johto Journeys? He acts as an assistant for Professor Elm, and is surprisingly great with raising pokemon despite the edgy tough-guy act he usually keeps up. He and Brock can nerd out about breeding and nuturing techniques and stuff.

An original team I made myself, Team Comet, acts as a foil of sorts to Team Flare. They’re fighting over (literal) life and death

I’m not entirely sure how to make this work, but I really want AZ’s ultimate weapon to be the (super buffed up) prototype of the healing machines used in pokemon centers. Like… the current machines extract infinity energy from deceased pokemon’s remains (such as ashes and stuff) instead of. Y’know. Draining living pokemon of that energy directly, causing them to die. AZ himself developed this practice as an attempt to redeem himself from all of the tragedy he caused in the name of his Floette. His full name is Azrael Jovalie… making him a pivotal ancestor to the Joy family.

Several large family-clans are the primary leaders of international organizations. The Joy family runs the pokemon centers and overall healthcare facilities, Jenny family runs the international and local police departments, the Jordan family are firefighters who provide aid and try to prevent natural disasters, etc (they may be involved with pokemon rangers? I’m not entirely sure). Others are obviously welcome to work in these forces as well, and members of these families aren’t (usually) forced into working the family business if they want to pursue other goals.

Obviously the anime has all the service-people look identical to safe on time and everything, but I think making unique designs and characters for the Joys, Jennys, etc is a fun concept! No matter their gender or ethnicity, almost every member of a poke-business family have hair and eye colors in the same spectrum. For example, almost every Joy has pink hair that’s styled in circular/drop shapes to some capacity, and blue eyes. Jennys have teal/turquoise hair in lightning shaped styles, and brown eyes. Jordans have charcoal black hair that looks like smoky wisps, and fiery orange/gold eyes.

Xerosic (creepy ass scientist dude who forces you to push a button and coaxes Emma into his expansion suit testing) was originally from Ultra Megalopolis. I’m not entirely sure how to connect him to all the Team Flare stuff??? Or even how exactly he ends up in Kalos but he was part of the Ultra Recon Squad and volunteered to travel to the “main” pokemon world for the to see where Necrozma might try to take all the light next. But when he actually shows up there, he just. Doesn’t care. He’s so fascinated by all of the different pokemon and how energy manifests in such different ways… All he wants to do is learn everything he can about it

Eternatus is an Ultra Beast! The ricochet from AZ’s Ultimate Weapon woke it up and caused the first darkest day.

Builing more from the Adventures manga, Galar was already starting to lose its energy, but the issue is actually going to be addressed far more openly. As Eternatus slept for thousands of years, its dynamax energy gradually dies down to the point where it can’t really be used as a proper resource— especially not to power so many of Galar’s communities. Rose definitely pushed a lot of the reliance of dynamax energy in recent history, but I’m certain Galar has relied on Eternatus for even longer. What makes Rose’s plan to wake Eternatus up again even more messed up (besides putting so many people and pokemon in danger), is that he’s essentially harvesting Eternatus of its energy: Wake it up to get the dynamax levels up again, (have Leon) catch it so it doesn’t go back to sleep… Rose sees the pokemon less as an actual creature and more like a walking power plant, definitely in part with how different Eternatus looks from “normal” pokemon.

The original Sun/Moon storyline with Lusamine and her kids happens first (Lusamine is a mix of the doting from the anime and her abuse from the games… she’s messy /pos). Then, around the time Ash and his friends meet Poipole, that’s when we’d meet the Ultra Recon squad and get into the Necrozma stuff.

Y’know Goh’s whole thing with wanting to catch Mew? How Jessie’s mom died in pursuit of Mew? And the eventual data she found was used for Mewtwo’s creation? Do you see how I’m connecting the dots?

Misc Information

Harley is one of Karen's cousins, making them both descendants of Sanqua (Galaxy Team's Construction Leader) and her little brother, Melli (Diamond Clan Warden of Coronet Highlands). Obviously... we can tell who took after who even after all these years, lmao. They also have a baby cousin (one of my ocs lol) named Jimson from Laverre City (Kalos) who is currently one of the Blueberry League Club's Biome Leaders! He specializes in psychic types... and is lowkey a chuunibyou (really commits to the wizard/witch act)

While Serena is in Hoenn, she meets Lisia and the two become girlfriends besties! They’re like twelve so idk if they’d actually do anything with their feelings but the mutual pining is very very apparent. Their ship name is Dreamshowshipping!

Chloe is highkey a lesbian. That’s just always how I’ve interpreted her??? She’s constantly shocked that Ash knows all of these cute girls. I think her and Iris eventually being a couple would be very cute. If Flowershipping isn’t taken, I shall call them that!

Because I am not immune to @yamujiburo’s propaganda of Hanamusashipping (Hiii Kiana if you’re reading through all of this I am so honored and so sorry it’s so much gjdhdhdhs), I love the idea that Jessie and James start a poly/ish thing with Delia!! They might become members around Journeys (since I’m treating that as a general 2 years since Indigo League), but that’s very much up in the air.

I'm reading another book by Emma Southon (A Fatal Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum), and while the humor is great and this book honestly is teaching me a lot, Emma Southon really really needs someone to fact-check everything before she publishes her books. There are many little errors, and some of them are embarrassing. Such as saying that "Augustus got ill in 23 CE."

Dang, poor guy. Even the fact he's dead doesn't stop him from getting ill.

He got ill in 23 BCE!! Oh my gosh.

This is so bad, I'm wondering if it's like a little weird computer error that deleted a single B on my e-book. I find it hard to imagine that after all the proofreading this book should've gone through, this error managed to slip through.

But then again, there are many examples of little but criminal mistakes in both this book and the Agrippina one I want to recommend Emma Southon's books to you guys because they're so funny but the little errors are driving me up the wall. Those errors also ruins all trust between me and the book. If the book makes such a silly mistake on such an easy thing, how can I trust it to not make an error on a complex thing?

But Emma Southon's books are just so readable and so fun to read, so I'm going to read them anyway, just carefully.

The way I'm talking about these books makes them sound really bad, but I do think that like 95% of the two books I've read so far are good and are good starting points. It's just the little errors that crawl under my skin.

Oh my gosh!!! Tell us of the moments Silvio and Emma has as lovers. I never really liked him but after reading your blog, I suddenly became interested. What type of lovers is he?

Once they're in a relationship...

We don't get to see a LOT of them as lovers together, but there's some glimpses in the epilogues and the both-ends story. The main takeaways from Silvio as a lover are:

A worrywart mother hen to the Nth degree. In the romantic end epilogue, Emma comes down with a teensy cold and the man is losing his shit. Constantly walking out in the middle of his coronation preparations to come make sure she's got water/fruit/food/rest, needs anything at all. You know it's pretty bad when Rio of all people thinks he's overreacting and is the one to keep coming and dragging him out like SHE'S FINE I PROMISE, YOU HAVE SHIT TO DO MAN

Loves to pamper her. Not just buying her things (though he's absolutely delighted she finally starts letting him do that once he shows more consideration for HER taste and likes) but doting on her. Has a new daily habit of washing her and and her hair, giving it practically a 10-step haircare routine, spending alone time together in the bath and helping her get dressed, etc.

Supportive and wants to prepare her for success. Goes along with the buying things but he also lines up like every possible lesson and tutoring session she needs or wants to prepare her to be queen and make her feel ready for the role and comfortable with it.

Is still chronically shy. Gets embarrassed by his own feelings, struggles to call her by her real name because it turns him into a blushing mess (though she gets him motivated to do so with some...positive reinforcement in bed ;) ). Still doesn't like her touching him first, but really it's not that he doesn't like it it's that he hates her seeing him so flustered - he thinks it makes him look pathetic but she adores it.

Absolute simp. His letter is pretty much like, if I call you then you should come. But also call me anytime for anything and I'll come running, mid-meeting anytime you name it and WHEN DID I GET TO BE SO WHIPPED ah well it's not so bad Emma's got him so wrapped around her little finger it's not even funny

Dual mode lover. Sometimes he's railing her so hard she can't even talk. Sometimes it's all soft kisses and sweet sweet lovin'. I think she just has to ask and he will deliver whatever version she wants.

Emma still teases him. She takes the initiative at times, just to get a rise out of him and see him fluster, but also because she wants him to get more used to it.

It was almost as though she couldn’t really believe what she was hearing. Had Emma gone mad? Regina was so confused by the news that they were going to be meeting up with Graham when they went back home to Storybrooke for the weekend, which Emma had just casually slipped into conversation during their post-dinner snuggles. In fact, the woman couldn’t even find the mental space to be upset by the fact that Emma was being utterly dismissive and rude by waving her off and walking away in the middle of a conversation. Her mind was too busy trying to comprehend the rather idiotic things that were coming out of her baby’s mouth. 

“Both of us are going back to Storybrooke, first of all,” Emma corrected, as if she had a leg to stand on. “My mom just thinks Graham and I were good friends, he mentioned to her that he hadn’t seen me in a while.” 

Flopping down on their bed and closing her eyes, it was clear that the blonde didn’t want to have an argument with Regina. Emma knew she’d react poorly. It was the reason why she thought she could just drop it into their after-dinner conversation, whilst she was cuddled on the sofa, in the arms of her half-asleep Mommy. 

However, Graham was way more than a sore spot for Regina. He was like an open bullet wound. He was Emma’s first everything; the first one to kiss her beautiful lips, touch her gorgeous body, taste her sweet little cunt…

Slim hands moved up to rub gently over Mommy’s thighs, slipping under her silk pyjama shorts. Normally, physical contact would calm her Mommy down, but it didn’t seem like it was working this time. 

“He asked both of us to dinner, Mommy,” Emma sighed, like she was exhausted from repeating herself. “I don’t really want to go either, but mom likes to keep literally everyone who holds any type of public office in Storybrooke close and on her side. She’s a people-pleaser.” 

Regina’s hands came down to clasp around Emma’s wrists that rested on her thighs as she fumed, “So, I’m just expected to have wine and polite conversation with the man you opened your slutty little legs for and gave my pussy to after you ran away from me the first time?”

Apparently you think this is shocking to me or something. I know Joseph Smith did horrible things. Shockingly, sometimes humans are capable of both good and horrible things.

Why do you think he was killed by a mob? I've got an inkling it's 'cuz he, uh, did horrible things. The gospel regularly teaches that anyone who abuses their authority will be removed from that authority. So, he was. I understand that's not the church's position, but I don't need it to be; I've prayed about it, and that's good enough for me. Guy shouldn't have lusted after teenagers. I wish I could sit down with Emma and let her unload over cups of tea.

Similarly, I believe that Brigham Young did good and horrible things. The church would not have survived Smith's death had it not been for Young and his stubbornness. Unfortunately, in addition to his being stubborn as a mule, Brigham Young was also a racist, a colonizer, and a bully. (And that's not even getting into his misogyny! Woof!) (Of course, he wasn't killed. When I get to Heaven, regardless of what degree of glory I'm in, I hope Heavenly Father & Mother give me a day pass to go and punch Brigham Young in the throat. He will most assuredly proceed to kick my butt, because Brigham Young was yoked, but it'll be worth it.)

The LDS church is not perfect. It is run by human beings, who are not perfect. I don't expect it to be perfect. I am deeply, deeply saddened by that fact that so many members interact with the gospel dogmatically. The gospel is so beautifully complex and unknown, and weird. It's so weird! I love it! What a weird and beautiful and complicated thing we've been given a glimpse into!

I'm equally saddened by the fact that so many non-members and ex-members interact with it dogmatically. Both approaches are an exhausting way to live.

The leaders of the LDS church have done horrific things in the name of the church. The Mountain Meadows Massacre is horrific. Joseph Smith's sexual assault of children is horrific. Brigham Young's allowance of southern members to bring their slaves to Utah (and all of the atrocities associated with that) is horrific. Joseph Smith's exhumation and parading about of a native person's skeleton is horrific. (Didja know about that one?? I do!) The blood oath that used to be a part of the endowment ceremony was... well, idk if I'd go as far as say horrific, but it was weird af, wasn't it? (And not in the fun, kooky way.)

More recently, the POX was horrific. The church's "indirect" support of Prop 8 was horrific. (lmao @ all of my fellow members who defended that tooth and claw because it 'came from God' and then had nothing to say when it was retracted a few years later, because, DUH, it SURE DIDN'T COME FROM GOD, DID IT?) The abuse of children hidden by a system that encourages keeping things within the system is horrific.

I'm not an idiot. I'm not a naif, either. And incredibly, even reading over that person's blog post, I'm not in a cult; because nothing they've described makes the church a cult. (Their argument is basically that Utah is a cult, and frankly, that one I have no issue with lmao. Utahn LDS culture is not my cup of tea. I find it stifling. [I grew up adjacent to Utah -- imo it was worse, because we had to be even MORE self-righteous, to make up for the legalized gambling and hookers.] Speaking with non-US members of the church is absolutely illuminating, because their cultural touchstones are completely different, and many of them approach the gospel differently than we do in the States. Some of my most cherished learning moments have come from non-US members. Relatedly, I miss going to the Sunstone Symposium.)

I wish the person in that blog post had been raised to understand the dangers of dogmatic thinking, and had been taught discernment. It is tragic that they experienced a faith crisis like that; not because they left the church, but because the crisis part of it was entirely unnecessary. They were not properly equipped by their parents, their family, or their community, and that's just... sad. It's deeply sad. They were failed by those who should have taught them (and based on their writing, their parents were failed as well. It's failure all the way down... which, Utah, so. I'm not surprised).

If you're an ex-member and you feel compelled to bash the church, I get it. You were raised to believe in everything that was taught to you without question, and that questioning itself was a sin. When you learned something awful, your worldview fractured. And now you've found a community of people who feel similarly to you, in an inverse of the church community you once had; where you are uplifted and edified, and you're able to righteously tirade against the Other, who has wronged you. (And I'm not discounting you've been wronged. I've met truly awful people at church. I've been told awful things. I have been hurt. Unfortunately: humans. I am not looking forward to Elder Bednar's eventual rise to prophet. Hopefully he'll get the same treatment from HF/HM that Benson did, in that he'll at least mercifully shut up about his bigotry.)

I would ask you to consider what use that dogma has to you. Comfort? Community? Purpose? Figure it out, and deconstruct the dogma. Dogmatic thinking is by definition strict. It's exhausting, and it perpetuates its own destruction. It's not worth it.

I don't need the church to be perfect. Frankly, the Book of Mormon could've been written while Smith was high on shrooms and mummia, and I'd still say it's divinely inspired. OUAT Thoughts Pt.56--Episodes 2-3

I have watched through S6E3; spoilers DNI. Also, spoiler warning for anyone further behind than I am.

—That Renaissance-y ballroom Monte Cristo had was so pretty. If I had a house that cool, I wouldn’t throw parties or care about revenge, I would just stay home and stare at the decor all day.

—Regina’s outfit at that ball was lovely. She has the best embroidery on her Evil Queen clothes.

—Zelena and the Evil Queen working together is going to be a huge pain in the neck, I can just feel it. Zelena’s annoying and the Evil Queen is…evil. It’s a very bad combination.

—Belle is low-key full of crap. She never really tried to make things work with Rumple. (Disclaimer, he didn’t really try much either.) She A) didn’t have realistic goals for their marriage and B) didn’t really do the whole communication thing too well. She could at least have the good grace to admit it instead of acting like the marriage not vibing is entirely Rumple’s fault.

—Very cool how extremely normal it’s played for Emma to go to counseling. And I love Hook even more for being supportive of her, and encouraging her to go. Their relationship is actually one of the most plausible, realistic, healthy relationships in the show. I mean, not that I know much about that kinda stuff, but that’s how it comes across to me.

—Why is Monte Cristo so speedy? I know the gist of the original story, but none of the details, so I’m not going to know which traits are derived from the original and which are cool new ones. Which is a lil sad for me, because I love being able to compare.

—I like the Evil Queen’s hairstyle except for the loose hair. When you’ve got a perfectly chic updo, why ruin it with having some hair not make it in?

—Archie is still v handsome. I wish he was wearing more sweater vests right now, but jackets and ties are cool too. I 💖 his glasses, btw. So cute. And he’s a listener. Oh, gosh, listeners slay me.

—Regina’s new haircut is cute.

—Hook and Henry sword fighting with branches is cute. I love that they get to have a good relationship. And I love when Hook gets to show his playful side.

—Monte Cristo makes me sad. He wanted revenge, but not at any cost. When he died, yes Regina was defending her friends, but he wasn’t trying to hurt them of his own free will.

—Rumple’s Scottish came out in full force when he was reading that nursery rhyme for the baby. Like damn, I’m still kinda starry-eyed over it. 

—It’s an interesting take on Cinderella to also have one of her stepsisters be a victim of the stepmother’s scheming. I’ve seen Cinderella where the stepsisters are willing accomplices and Cinderella where none of the stepfamily is evil, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen this before. Well done.

—I also like that Gus got to go to the ball with Cinderella in his human form. He can eat so much more cheese as a human!

—David’s verging on dumbass here. Seriously, this whole family needs to take a communication workshop. Something important happens? Somebody’s gonna die? Well, no need to discuss with the loved ones, they’ll find out soon enough!

—Speaking of, Emma not telling her family about her impending death is very David-in-Neverland. She’s really her father’s daughter.

—I have seen the light. The light is Dr. Frankenstein x Dr. Jekyll. They’re both kinda mad scientists and the way Jekyll was all ‘it’s an honor to meet you’??!?!!? YES! Plus they aesthetically work, because one looks a little bit more sinister and one of them looks pretty non-threatening, which reflects their personalities. Put them together and they just 🌟vibe🌟 in every possible way!

—Also I would like to point out that Frankenstein is low-grade smoking, what with his blonde hair, mad scientist lab coat, and little bit of dark eye makeup. Dr. Whale? Not so interesting. Dr. Frankenstein? Oh yes.

—I am gonna be obsessing over Jekyllstein (IDK) for at least another week. Maybe longer. If I get some decent footage of them working together in Frankenstein’s garage lab, it’s gonna be a month.

—Speaking of eye makeup, Hook’s was on point in episode 3. His eyeliner just stood out so well for some reason. And gosh does it highlight his eyes!

—He and Emma are finally moving in together! YAY!

Hi bestie I'm here I'm queer I'm going to ask you what's your favorite book (or if I've already asked this, what's your ultimate dating deal-breaker or maybe just relationship deal-breaker in general doesn't have to be romantic). Also, Killian is my second favorite character because Emma is my absolute favorite character on that entire show. Their relationship was EVERYTHING to me, I love sunshine v darkness trope so much, hence sterek and destiel as well. I love teen wolf but idk how much of that is because I was like 13 when I started watching it tbh. I would watch it just for dylan's performance in season 3 because HOLY SHIT he should have won a fucking Oscar.

asldjkflsdkjf oh my gosh are we meant to be best friends?? Ugh yes Emma is absolutely fantastic I just personally relate to Killian just that smidge more I think. They are both so special to me 😍 Ugh yes that trope is the best. Everlark was another couple that had that dynamic for me. Man now you're making me wonder if watching it for Dylan would be worth it. My only concern is that it might be too YA for me (I get very turned off by highschool stories). That's why I haven't picked it up yet. I'm afraid I missed the boat on that show. Now I tend to enjoy my YA stories to be fantasy because then the characters are more likely to be less immature (and potentially traumatized by the stakes of the fantasy world which is also fun - looking at you TFOTA trilogy and Grishaverse books).

Whoooo boy okay a favorite book is really hard because books mean a lot to me. I think you know that about me by now so you're getting a list from the last couple years lol:

TFOTA trilogy - the politics was so fun and the twists and turns kept me engaged. I read all 3 books in 48 hours and have reread them multiple times since in the last couple years because they were so good.

The Hunger Games trilogy - that series is straight up literature. There is so much to unpack.

In Other Lands by Sarah Rees Brennan - idk what to say about this book except that the characters are so loveable, the take on portal fantasy is unique and the way she flipped sexism on it's head was so thoughtprovoking.

A Taste of Gold and Iron by Alexandra Rowland - excellent anxiety rep, top tier slow burn without a lot of drama or miscommunications, beautifully written fantasy world with no homophobia

Captive Prince trilogy by CS Pacat - um this is a more problematic pick but if you're down for a high fantasy slow burn true hate to love romance this is where it's at man. You will have such a good time you won't even know what you signed up for until you are embroiled in the middle of it. Gosh Laurent's character arc gives me life.

Anything in Alexis Hall's Spires Series + Boyfriend Material - what this man has to say about gender and queer identity changed my mindset about what it is to be queer and I love it so much. His books made me feel so seen especially Pansies, For Real, and Boyfriend Material.

What Is a Girl Worth? by Rachael Denhollander - The only nonfiction book on this list lol. I loved how eloquently she spoke about her story and how she included the problems she's seen in the church around sexual assault. We need someone who has the legal and Christian connections to advocate for survivors but she's doing it and that really inspires me.

If I have to pick just one though - I pick Boyfriend Material and here's why (x). It's really personal to my insecurities and it made me feel very seen and loved. It's the epitome of a comfort book for me. Whenever I need a pick me up I go to that book and listening to Joe Jameson's voice gives me hope that I too will be loved in this precious way.  Honestly this is why the Spires books and Boyfriend Material are so special to me: These are stories about people who think they are broken and the men that show them that they've never been broken actually. They get to hear "I love you however you are. But also who you are is a person who can do things so you don't have to stagnate like this." It was so healing to read about I cannot even tell you.

Oh also my main platonic or romantic deal breaker is a combination of apathy and lack of thinking deeply about things (the reverse is also true - I find people who are passionate and think deeply about art and life super attractive. Those are the people I keep in my life).

4. What is the plot bunny you’ve been carrying for the longest? optional bonus question: do you ever wonder why you haven’t written it yet and experience deep existential dread?

Hmm... that's pretty hard. I think the actual plot bunny I've had tucked in the back of my brain the longest isn't actually fanfic, but a story that was inspired after I read "American Gods". (And a little bit after seeing Batman Beyond? Haha, stay with me here.) TLDR the general population is all super powered in some way or form, whether it's physical mutation (something like wings), a super power (laser eyes, super strength) or cybernetic augmentation. But the story follows a small crew of characters that for one reason or another do not have powers, and because of this are basically undocumented/non-entities. While this makes their lives harder in many ways, it also means they're able to operate under the radar and so they've formed a group that helps people with their various problems when they have nowhere else to turn. It was kind of an ambitious project and I thought of the idea (and some of the characters long enough ago) that I think it would need a bit of an overhaul (and probably multiple sensitivity readers since some of the characters were neurodivergent).

17. what is your favorite line you’ve ever written?

I answered this already but I'll give you another line I wrote. This one is from a story that took me absolutely ages to write- it's a Metal Gear Solid prequel story I wrote for an anthology I organized. This story is about Hal Emmerich (Otacon) as a teenager, dealing with the stilted relationships in his relationship and generally feeling adrift and disconnected from people, which helps explain his state of mind before he was taken advantage of by his step mother. I did a lot of watching "The Graduate" before writing this one (a movie I fully believe influenced Kojima in regards to Hal and the Emmerichs in general). The story opens with a birthday party for Hal's younger step-sister, Emma, and the guests are made up of his father's professional acquaintances and other people Hal barely knows. At one point, a guest comes and gives Hal the general "Is that you, my how you've grown" greeting and Hal responds thusly:

It’s Hal

I’m me.

“It’s me.”  He has no idea who the man is, but it doesn’t seem to matter.'

It's not the most flowery bit of writing, but there's something about the emptiness of the phrasing that makes Hal seem distant, even from his own identity and I really like that.

28. Handwritten notes or typed notes?

Oh, gosh, typed all the way. Sometimes it takes the form of me blabbing to a friend at 3 am. Sometimes it's just me brainstorming in a google doc. I would absolutely lose anything I jotted down on paper, so it's nice to have something I can access from anywhere, especially if I want to share and idea with a friend and get some feedback.

Part Forty: Beautiful Pain

[slow burn romance between Steve Rogers and SHIELD agent Emma Baker]

Word count: 1.1k (a short little chapter, but sweet nonetheless)

Emma helps Steve work through his grief.

One afternoon a few weeks later, Emma comes home from cleaning at the Greens' house. She looks around the lodge but can't seem to find Steve anywhere. After exhausting the places in the house she can look, Emma finally looks out the back window and sees Steve sitting on the dock looking out at the lake.

She then makes her way out to the dock and sits beside him. "Hey," she whispers, taking one of his hands in her, "is everything okay?"

Steve is silent for a second before shaking his head no. He sighs and admits, "It's just been a rough day. Sam and Buck have been on my mind a lot today and I just... I really miss them, Em."

Emma's heart breaks for Steve at his confession. She squeezes his hand and says, "I'm so sorry Steve... What can I do to help? I could make us some tea, we could put on some records, I could play the piano for you, whatever you want, I'm game."

Steve smiles weakly and asks her quietly, "How about we just sit here on the dock? Remember how it was before all of this happened?"

"Sounds good to me," Emma replies with a nod.

So she recounts her favorite memories of Sam and Steve tells her more stories of Bucky that she had never heard. While listening, Emma absentmindedly traces shapes on Steve's thigh which soothes him. The two talk about their happier memories of Sam together and for the first time since the snap, Emma doesn't cry at these memories. After a little while of reminiscing and relaxing under Emma's touch, Steve feels ready to head back inside. As they stand up, he takes Emma's hand and says, "Thank you, Emma. I really needed that."

"Anytime, love," she replies with a smile. As they walk back inside, Emma remembers that she had just finished an embroidery project that afternoon while she was with the Greens'. "Hey, I have a gift for you!" Emma exclaims and picks up her pace to get back inside.

"Oh yeah?" Steve asks with a chuckle at Emma's sudden excitement.

"Yes!" Emma runs to get the piece off of the kitchen counter and tells Steve to cover his eyes before she shows him. "Now, it isn't perfect, but Ms. Amanda has been helping me out with my embroidery lately and I wanted to make you something!"

"I can't wait to see what it is," Steve replies with a smile. Emma gives him the piece and he opens his eyes and reads the design out loud, "World's nicest badass. I love it."

Emma giggles and hugs Steve, saying, "Yay! I'm glad you do!"

"Gosh you're so cute," Steve mumbles before he kisses Emma's lips. Emma smiles and then goes to stand on a chair to hang the design above the mantle in the den.

After hanging it up, Emma makes her way back to Steve and wraps her arms around him, and says, "Hey, I love you."

"I love you too," he replies while hugging her back. "And again thank you for being here for me."

"I always will be," she tells him with a smile as she pulls him closer.

The next few weeks pass and while still trying to go on as usual, Steve still can't shake his feelings of sadness over Sam and Bucky. Emma takes notice and throughout this time she comes up with a plan to surprise him with something special. She decides on transforming the cellar into a '40s dance hall and recording some music on her piano that combines Steve's favorite '40s music with his favorite modern music.

One day after work, Emma sends Steve on a grocery run to get them something for dinner. When Emma gets home she quickly runs to finalize the decor in the cellar and make sure she has the speakers set up on her phone so she can play the music she had recorded. After ensuring everything is in working order, Emma gets dressed in a '40s-inspired dress that she had found at the antique shop that day.

After getting ready, Emma writes Steve a note and leaves it in the kitchen where he would be dropping off the groceries any minute. A few minutes pass and then the door to the cellar opens to reveal Steve to her. "Hey you," Emma smiles and opens her arms to give him a hug.

After the hug, she lands a kiss on his lips and Steve relaxes into the kiss and smiles. When he pulls away, he rests his forehead on Emma's and asks, "It looks really nice in here. And so do you, wow... What's the occasion?"

"Well I could tell that you haven't been 100% lately, so I decided that I should show you how much I love and appreciate you," she replies with a sweet smile. Emma then pulls away to start up the music before coming back to Steve.

Steve rests his hands on Emma's hips and she wraps his arms around his neck and they sway to the piano music. At first, Steve thinks that the music is just 40s music but then his ears perk up when he starts to hear some Marvin Gaye being thrown into the mix. A smile makes its way onto Steve's face and he asks, "Is this you playing?"

"It is," Emma replies. She looks deep into his eyes and tells him, "Throughout the past two years you've been here for me and helped me through so much anxiety and depression and I just wanted to do a little something for you to try and show you how much I appreciate you. You've shown me that someone cares for me and I just want you to know how much I care for you."

Steve smiles wide at Emma's words. He spins her around and tells her, "Wow, I don't have words right now, that's so thoughtful Em..." Steve pulls Emma back into his arms and looks deep into her eyes as he thinks of something to say. He finally decides on, "Thank you. This really means so much to me, you have no idea. I know we've had some rough patches and we definitely missed out on the time we could have had together, but I'm so happy that we have this life together now. And you're right, some days I miss the '40s, but there's nowhere else I'd rather be than right here with you."

Emma can't help the happy tears that fall from her eyes as she places a hand on Steve's cheek and smiles, "I love you, Steve Rogers."

"And I love you Emma Baker," he replies and leans down to kiss her softly.
