i. i listened to the villain song from Wish and. oh my god. that is not a fucking villain song. we're bein punk'd.
I'M GONNA JUST SAY THIS i think the concept for the villain was actually kinda interesting but I feel like the villain song needs to be rewritten ASAP and istg if the movie is as *incoherent noise* as the villain song, then i fell like it'll need to be redone/reimagined, too
Petition to remake the movie but in 2D animation, with a better storyline and a better villain song (i would even like to see people on the internet get together to make it happen)
#not tf#kiwi rambles#pls......#like some Disney concepts are cool as hell and I can jive with them#luca? adorable movie. great concept.#encanto? great concept. really good soundtrack.#princess and the frog? hell yeah great concept and great soundtrack#but I feel like Disney kinda just Gave Up which is. sad.#And listen im not totally knocking Wish bc the concept actually sounds kinda dope I just feel like based on the trailer and the villain song#the movie's not that much of a banger#maybe it's just me idk i know it's a kid's movie but damn#it feels ai generated#kiwi opinions#kiwi rants

So I was listening to the Princess and the Frog soundtrack last night and thought about reader trying to achieve buying their own restaurant, but during a fight between a pro-hero and villain, the newly bought building gets destroyed, leaving reader devastated. They’ve been saving for their dream for YEARS and it all goes down the drain in one day. Pro-hero Dynamight finds out about the incident and anonymously donates thousands of dollars for it to be rebuilt, but reader will never know 😭😭
Can somebody please make my dream come true???

Paul Williams and Randy Newman are like two of my favourite songwriters from the 70s. Paul Williams has some really sad ballads, but his voice is beautiful. Randy Newman has a more unconventional voice, but his songs are all bizarre. We have songs about racism and life in the deep south and the birth of the slave trade. Songs mocking religion and blind faith in God. One of his aongs uses the N word, but the way he uses it...It's shockingly powerful. Both these men were visionaries. And wouldn't you know it: both went on to do animation work and stuff. Paul Williams was The Penguin for Btas. He did some other voice work too, I think. And Randy Newman was pretty much one of disney and pixar's go-to songwriters. Bless Randy Newman for his soundtracks and songs. The Princess and The Frog was one of my favourite disney movies, probably because of all his lyrics.
PS: A bonus singer-songwriter I love is Billy Joel. I've listened to like five full albums of Billy Joel's, just because all of his lyrics pull at my heart. That man knows how to make me feel seen. His 30 or 40 year old songs hear and understand me. He's an ageless genius. And he was also in one animated movie. Oliver and Company. So three of my favourite singers all get roles in animated pictures or tv shows. Funny how that works.

got myself thinking about my own personal experiences with frozen, and why the first movie means enough to me to be my favorite of all time, and thought i might as well just go ahead and post about it in case there's anyone who wants to read it. although i'm not great with words, so this post will probably be too long and feel too silly and over the top, and i should also warn that this is a lot of very personal information, but:
i saw frozen in theaters on its opening weekend in 2013. i hadn't listened to any of the songs in advance at all--i've avoided listening to the soundtracks for new disney movies prior to seeing them in theaters ever since i saw princess and the frog in 2009, because i feel like i enjoy my first experience with the movie and the music more that way. although i may have already overheard snippets of let it go back then just because it was so popular. i honestly don't remember too clearly because my strongest memory by far of hearing let it go for the first time is being absolutely blown away by it in the theater.
so. i've had depression and social anxiety since i was a kid, and, although i didn't know this until several years after frozen was released, i'm autistic as well. so dealing with all of these things at once, combined with the fact that i had no idea i was autistic, made me think i just couldn't ever fit in with anyone because i was weird and there was something wrong with me. for most of my life i never had any friends and i thought i had to hide from people as much as possible. which i do think is at least a little justified by the fact that the whole time i was in school from fifth grade through tenth grade--after tenth grade my parents finally pulled me out of public school and i was homeschooled, something i'd honesty been begging them to do--i was bullied and betrayed by friends in various ways because i was weird and didn't fit in. i won't go into details, but the fact that i knew while still in public school that i was bisexual also played into this.
so seeing elsa's parents hide her from the world because she had something that made her different from others, seeing her be taught to "conceal, don't feel" and called a monster, just hit me very hard when i first saw the movie. i interpreted her as having developed depression and anxiety like i did (and now, ever since 2016 when i discovered that i was autistic, i've also liked to headcanon her as such) and just felt so incredibly happy to see her proudly proclaim that she wasn't going to hold back and hide who she was anymore, letting herself freely use her powers, and decide that even if she had to be alone, at least she was free.
and then, seeing how anna fought so hard to get elsa to come home and make sure she knew that she didn't have to be alone and that she wasn't unloved, and seeing the people of arendelle accept her wholeheartedly as she created an ice skating rink at the end, gave me so much hope for myself. as did reading the "sisterhood is the strongest magic" books and other things like the various frozen comics, and watching frozen fever and olaf's frozen adventure, and seeing that elsa truly was accepted by her people, that she was capable and loved as queen and had a home, that anna and kristoff and all the people of arendelle appreciated her as she was, would be there when she felt anxious or needed a shoulder to cry on, and didn't at all believe that her powers made her weird and out of place with them. all of this just gave me so, so much comfort throughout the years and still does all of this time later.
i know a lot of people are sick of frozen and find it to be overhyped, and everyone certainly has the right to their opinion! but elsa is basically tied with one other fictional character as my favorite of all time, i love anna and kristoff and yes, even olaf, very dearly, and i do believe that the movie deserves all of the love it gets. i find it so beautiful that people can read elsa's powers and her story as an allegory for so many different things and connect with her and find comfort in her in so many different ways. i can hardly believe that it's been over 10 years since the movie came out, over 10 years since i saw elsa transform her stuffy coronation gown into that beautiful flowing ice dress and sing about finally letting herself be who she really was. maybe loving frozen even half as much as i do is "cringy", but this is my own personal tumblr blog and i will be as cringy as i want! and besides, the cold never bothered me anyway. i'm sorry, i couldn't resist saying that.
#frozen#disney#i'm lowkey embarrassed to put this in the tags LMAO but if i don't i'll never be able to find it again

Do you have a favorite movie soundtrack? Or soundtracks, if you can’t pick only one?:)
Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame. I can listen to it in chronological order and I don't skip the backing tracks. Dreamgirls is a hard second.
Honorable mentions are: Black Panther, Prince of Egypt, Princess and the Frog, 1982's Annie, Disney's Hercules, and Idlewild.

IM SO EXCITED TO ANSWER THIS ONE for some reason
I'm gonna be in so much detail because I have a lot of fav songs, I'll be listing my fav artists, why I love listening to them and my fav songs from them :)
Epic The Musical made by Jorge Riverra-Herrans
If you love listen to musicals and love greek mythology, this one's the goat. I don't have a favourite song from this album because all of them are just too good.
But if I had to choose....
All in order, my favourite songs on these sagas are
Troy Saga:
The Horse and The Infant
Just A Man
Warrior of the Mind
Cyclops Saga:
Polyphemus
Survive
My Goodbye
The Ocean Saga:
Luck Runs Out
Keep Your Friends Close
Circe Saga:
Puppeteer
Done For
There Are Other Ways
The Underworld Saga:
The Underworld
No Longer You
Monster
Sonic the Hedgehog Frontiers Soundtrack
The boss music in this soundtrack are so cool I cannot stress this enough. It's like as if SEGA found out about the rock genre of music and tried that out for Sonic: Forces and never looked back.
Fav songs from the soundtrack are:
I'm Here
Undefeatable
Find Your Flame
Break Through it All
Infinite (this on is from the Forces soundtrack)
MARINA
She was the prime when I started out my teenage years, I thought I was that girl whenever I listen to her. Listening to her songs felt so superior but also a bit depressive.
Fav songs from MARINA are:
Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land
Bubblegum Bitch
Teen Idle
Seventeen
Hermit the Frog
The Family Jewels
Primadonna
Oh No!
Laufey
Bigg on laufey, all of her songs were so ETHEREAL and my voice flows smoothly everytime I sang her songs.
Favs:
Valentine
Serendipity

Bewitched
Fragile
California and Me
Falling Behind
Goddess
(Fun fact about me... I serenaded the song Magnolia to my girlfriend before we started dating... And another serenade of Valentine on our first valentines day date)
Ricky Montgomery
His songs are such a vibe, whenever I do chores and other stuff that keeps me busy I always put his songs on
Favs:
Snow
Mr. Loverman
This December
Talk To You
California
AURORA
Her songs are so whimsical it genuinely makes me feel like a fairy sometimes LMAO, her song just makes me want to fly up to heaven because that's what her voice sounds like.
Favs:
Into The Unknown (yes, from Frozen ll, she was the siren voice in the movie)
Runaway
Giving in to the Love
Running With The Wolves
Cure For Me
Dance on the Moon
Mothership
The Crane Wives
On the topic of whimsical, The Crane Wives feels like the songs are the winds running along with the animals. Personally, they are the best lyrical geniuses I've ever heard. I've seen a lot of beautiful comics and fanart from a wide range of fandoms that are actually lyrics from most of their songs.
Favs:
Tongues and Teeth
The Moon Will Sing
Curses
Icarus
Shallow River
The Hand That Feeds
Chappell Roan
I listened to her songs recently, and it's so cool that all of her songs are explicitly gay, like no hiding and undertones whatsoever. And I came to like her a lot!! Especially her album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess
Favs:
Good Luck, Babe!
HOT TO GO
Red Wine Supernova
Femininonemon
That's all for my favourite artists! Here are more songs that are my favs but don't know well of the artists!^^

Media I love that's on the lesser-known side
(making a list because I recently got it into my head that I want to make fanart for a bunch of these!)
Movies
The Horatio Hornblower series (there has never been anyone as adorably Protagonist as Horatio, a young naval officer in England's navy, on the ship The Indefagitable, during the Napoleonic Wars.)
The Hundred-Foot Journey (an Indian family starts a restaurant in France, across the road from a 1-Michelin Star restaurant. This movie makes me hungry.)
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (newer one with a fantastic story for Arthur, the best soundtrack, and some weird but awesome cinematic choices.)
Forbidden Planet (charming older sci-fi with heavy allegorical themes and a really cool animated monster)
TV Shows
Robin Hood (BBC one with the banger opening song. Can't tell you how many times we watched this as kids)
Books
The Frog Princess series (I loved the magic, the dragons, the not-Charming love interests, the world... man.)
The Goose Girl (not so much the sequels but this was one of the first more YA novels I read, as well as the first audiobook I ever listened to, and it haunted me.)
Once Upon a Time is Timeless (it's a series of novels without continuity by different authors, expanding on a bunch of fairytales. Snow is branded into my brain. Lots of fairytales are but these interpretations in particular)

#8 Princess and the frog
This movie is without a doubt a classic disney movie. It has some of the best soundtracks of any disney movie, amazing characters, and a beautiful friendship that should never go unnoticed.
First things first I want to talk about my favorite song: Dig a little deeper. This is definitely one of my favorite Disney songs ever because of its catchy rhythm and nice message. This song is about finding who you are even if you believe you've already found your true self. I think it's a great message that is super easy to understand the first time listening to the song it's something i understood right away. It also has such a catchy beat that makes me want to listen to the song all the time. I remeber fist time I watched the movie once I was older I downloaded this song right away and it can be found in almost every single playlist I have, I get so excited evrytime this song comes on, it's the best way to start my day. The vocals in this song flow so nicely with the beat and fit the song so well, I couldn't imagine any other voice.
The best disney friendship by far is Charlotte and Tianas. Charlotte grew up as the richest family in town and never made Tiana feel bad about her situation. Charlotte supports Tiana her whole life and never leaves her side which is something I wish I had. Even when Tiana becomes a princess which was Charlotte's dream she never made her feel bad or ruined their relationship, she supported her 100%. In my opinion, Charlotte is the friend everyone wishes they had when only a select few truly do. I want a friend like Charlotte, from how she looks and how she acts towards others she dosen't seem like the best person but I love that the writers made her a very good friend and likeable character and not a villan or fake friend to Tiana.
Finally, I want to talk about Ray. Ray is my favorite character in this movie and definitely a top 5 favorite character over all. He's hilarious every everytime he speaks im dying of laughter. One of my favorite lines is "Don't make me light my butt" I think about this line often it's something I just can't forget because of how i was rolling with laughter. Unfortunately, Ray dies at the end of the movie, his death destroyed me. Whenever I watch this movie and it reaches this part i'm bawling my eyes out by the end and need to find comfort in the chips i'm eating. One aspect about his death that has me crying tears of joy however, is when he lights up as a star next to evangaline, his one true love. The whole movie he wasn't able to even get close to evagaline but he gets to rest next to her for eternity which makes me so unbelievably happy that even tho he passed he still got his happy ending.
The reason this movie isn't ranked higher on the list is because this is a movie I watched as a kid but as I grew up and forgot about it. One night when I was bored and wanted to watch a movie I just happend to stumble across the princess and the frog, i do truly love this movie and think about Ray constently but the rest of the movie is easy to forget. When rewatching it I also realised how much I don't like the villan, I know the villan isn't supposed to be liked but I didn't enjoy the type of villan he was or what he would do, I never really saw a motive, he was boring.
For all of these reasons i'm rating this movie number 8 out of 10 best disney movies.
Hint for movie #1: This princess is part of the 12 original disney princesses.

Warning: This will contain spoilers for the movie for those who have yet to see it. Please enjoy.
The Swan Princess Christmas, in my opinion, is a very enchanting Christmas movie. While it doesn’t have as much love as much as the original trilogy from most fans, so I have read, personally as a die hard Swan Princess fan, I enjoyed regardless of some flaws.
While I would have liked it to keep the traditional hand 2D animation style like in the original trilogy and some of the character models in CG could have been done better, it’s still not too bad for it being the first SP movie to be done in CG animation if not perfect.
And you gotta admit, some of the songs are amazing! In fact, I even have the full soundtrack on CD for Christmas about 3 years ago. I personally enjoyed the movie’s own take on Hark! The Herald Angels Sing as well Away in a Manger. My personal favourites are Season of Love, Movie Version and the other version sang by Anna Graceman from American Idol in the end credits. The reprise of Season of Love sang by Odette is quite good, too but we’ll get to that later. I also recommend try listening to Christmas is the Reason as well.
And although she’s no Michelle Nicasto, Odette’s original voice actress all the way through the original Swan Princess Trilogy (may she rest in peace 😔), the voice actress who had lent her voice for Odette did alright first try as the Swan Princess. Her singing voice is decent enough. Of course, that’s just me.
The movie takes in place in Derek and Odette’s very first Christmas since they had officially married (whether it takes place before the events of The Secret of the Castle and The Mystery of the Enchanted Kingdom is left up to the fans. I think it definitely happened before the sequels to the original movie given the Prince and Princess’s wedding anniversary took place in The Secret of the Castle).
Anyway, back on topic, while Derek and Odette were staying over at Derek’s mother, Queen Uberta’s kingdom to spend the holiday with her, Lord Rogers and their friends, Speed the Turtle, the frog with the delusions of actually being a prince under a spell, Jean-Bob and the loyal puffin named… Puffin who goes by the motto, “No fear”.
Unfortunately, the most wonderful time of the year would be threatened to be ruined in the form of an old fool from Derek and Odette’s past who is out for some… haunting revenge.
You guessed it, the ghost of the wicked Rothbart, the main antagonist from the movie that started it all is planning to rise up from the grave to get some ice cold revenge on the Prince and Princess, all the while trying destroy the Christmas spirit. And he’s not alone as he has a minion in the form of a hapless and down on his luck cat named… Number Nine in the promise of giving him extra lives in assisting Rothbart in ruining Christmas for everyone.
Meanwhile, everyone is getting into the spirit of the season as they all decorate the Royal Christmas Trees with Christmas crafted in memory of the kingdom’s acts of kindness and helping one another in times of need, support, comfort and love. According to Rogers in the prologue, each ornament hung on the tree holds within it the very spirit of Christmas. Such a charming and sentimental tradition if you ask me. 🥰
Also, Jean-Bob is still up to his wacky nonsense to convince his friends that he’s really a prince by trying to use the old Christmas tradition of being kissed underneath the mistletoe by a pretty girl with zero luck. His first attempt was to get one of the castle maids to kiss him during an ice skating was a total bust.
After Nine had tricked Derek into opening a strange wooden chest that was actually containing Rothbart’s spirit (really don’t really know how that got trapped in there in the first place but I’m not one to often question somethings until the end of the movie) and Rothbart immediately sets his wicked schemes to action.
The ghostly enchanter’s first act of spite was casting a spell on Rogers and Uberta, turning into bitter and overly immature competitors trying to outdo one another during rehearsals for the Kingdom’s Christmas showcase.
Unfortunately for Rothbart, he can’t cast the same curse on Derek and Odette since they are both full of Christmas spirit. And he hits another roadblock in the form of the cute little swan themed wind chimes Rogers had made for the holidays. According to her son, Uberta always likes to make a special theme for every Christmas. Lucky for our protagonists, “Christmas Uberta” had decided to make it a Swan Princess Christmas.
Title drop! 😁
Sadly, that didn’t stop Rothbart as he leaves the castle to cause more chaos by casting a spell on some of the people in the kingdom to lose their Christmas spirit.
The cursed Rogers and Uberta’s efforts to outdo each other’s showcases comes off ridiculously absurd where they try to one up each other by adding in cute animals ranging from ponies to baby pandas. Admittedly, it does have some funny moments when their feud makes a Star Wars reference when their scrolled up parchments various adorable animals briefly turned int lightsabers and they duelled with them.
Feuding spell gets a lot worse when we hit a Hope Spot when Odette rallied the children from the orphanage to have a part in her showcase by rehearsing Christmas is the Reason before Rogers and the Queen. At first, it seemed the spell is broken but, unfortunately, it was a lot tougher than poor Odette had anticipated as they now started to fight over the children to perform in their own showcases while rejecting Puffin, Speed and Jean-Bob after the latter and the former had previously used them in previous rehearsals. To say the least, being the little “drama king” that he is, poor Jean-Bob didn’t take that very well.
But Odette isn’t one to give up as she still had another ace up her sleeve. She had taken Roger’s and Uberta out into the outskirts of the kingdom to show them an old tradition she and her father, the late King William, used to do every Christmas. Each year, Odette and William would deliver some food and other essentials at the doorsteps of the less fortunate. Now that’s a pure case of Royals Who Something tropes at its fullest there.
As they and Odette took cover and watched the tender and heartwarming exchange between the mother and daughter believing that angels had blessed them the bountiful feast and granting them their family a happy Christmas after, both Rogers and Uberta were moved by this and reconciled, thus restoring their Christmas spirit and breaking Rothbart’s spell. It also triggered all of the people to break out of the spell as well, which renders Rothbart’s magic to greatly weaken.
Sadly as most Christmas-hating villains go, being the Grinch that he is, Rothbart is one guy who isn’t quick to call it quits so easily.
During the antics with Rogers and Uberta, Rothbart had an unexpected reunion with his former minion, Bridget A.K.A. The Hag back. At first it would seem that he had swayed her back to his side for the sake of “old times”, convincing her to remove the wind chimes so he’ll be free to roam the castle some more to spread more havoc on everyone inside. But it was a ploy staged by Derek, who had Bridget be his mole and lower Rothbart into a trap over at the royal stables, caging the ghastly spirit in a giant wind chime forged by Derek himself… with the help of his best friend, Bromley.
Unfortunately, another Hope Spot where it turns out Rothbart had Nine steal one of Rogers’s inventions, a lightbulb which he had begged Uberta to use to the Royal Christmas Tree instead of candles. Rothbart had casted a spell on the lightbulb, when once all of the lights on the tree is lit, his magic destroys the tree and all the ornaments — everyone’s life work on every year — reducing them all into a pile of ash.
And much worse, it also restored Rothbart into a living form and his first act was to kidnap Odette, drag her back to his old lair (which had been converted into Derek and Odette’s new home), Swan Lake and turned her into a swan — again!
It gets a lot worse from there. After trapping Odette in a cage forged from roots grown out from the bottom of the lake, Rothbart plans to turn her into a swan-themed Christmas ornament by using the light of the moon once it shines upon her and touches her wings. Quite a cruel take on all the times she needed the moon to transform back into a human way back in the first movie. 😥
Once again, it’s up to Prince Derek to come to the rescue… with some struggles. As Rothbart has taken on his monstrous “Great Animal” form to duke it out withe the Prince, we face a lot of suspense when it seemed that Rothbart had actually gotten the upper hand and is preparing to make the killing blow.
Just then, Odette starts to sing a solemn and epic reprise of Season of Love, which seemed to suddenly weaken Rothbart. Keep it in mind that due to the Christmas is themed on the Swan Princess, Odette currently represents the Christmas spirit and practically embodies it, thus utterly destroying Rothbart for good.
And to say the least, Rothbart also fails to get the last laugh when he didn’t live long enough to witness Derek supposedly dying after barely stabbing him with the claw on his wing as a last ditch effort to take the Prince with him. And to further the enchanter’s meaningless victory, both Odette’s love for her husband and the spirit of Christmas healed Derek, bringing him back to life and restoring the Royal Christmas Tree and its ornaments, much to the joy of the kingdom.
Hey, Derek’s love for his true love brought her back to life — TWICE in fact! Don’t judge the power of love!
So, Rothbart had lost the rematch.
My only gripe about the movie is that I was disappointed that Nine didn’t get a Heel-Face Turn and tries to under his part in Rothbart’s schemes. A part of him had hoped that Nine would turn on Rothbart once the restored enchanter gloats to the cat he had lied about his promise and twist the knife further.
The only thing close to karma Nine got is that he was shocked that Rothbart is defeated after witnessing the tree and ornaments are magically restored and he won’t be seen again until one of the following sequels after this.
During a triumphant reprise of Christmas is the Reason as everyone celebrates, the kingdom happily made a very special Christmas dedicated to Derek and Odette saving Christmas and proudly hung on the Christmas tree; a very unique act of kindness and courage to be remembered for many years to come.
As fans, we have our thoughts and honest opinions and we can agree to disagree about what makes a great movie or not. While The Swan Princess Christmas may not be the sort of film to potentially win any Emmy awards, I still enjoyed it as well as the music.
It does its best to teach us the true value of peace on Earth and good will towards men and it does have some heartwarming moments, most especially between our favourite royal couple.
Happy holidays to all of my lovely followers and many other people who like and reblog some of my posts and may your dreams shine as bright and festive this Christmas. 😉

Hi hi!! Can I get 2, 11, and 22 for the fanfiction writers questions? (Also I love your fic bite my tongue!!)
Hi 👋 thanks so much! (so so happy people are coming from bite my tongue,, i enjoyed writing that fic so so much)
2. Why do you write fanfiction?
I’ve always been super interested in what-ifs and alternate universes, even before I knew what what-ifs, fix-its and aus were. Like in movies, ‘what if mufasa didn’t die in lion king?’ or ‘what if tiana got caught in princess and the frog?’. I love writing canon divergence especially for that reason, but i also love just adding in additional scenes to flush out canon and slow down to introspection and deepen our characters relations and introspection. idk i just feel like so many fandoms have the potential to take so many different routes that can only be properly explored in fanfiction
11. Who or what do you find yourself writing the most?
I always eventually gravitate back to 1) found family, and 2) sappy lesbians. why? I’m not too sure. I think I instinctively reach for found family for the same reasons as most people: having people love you despite your flaws, blood of the covenant vs water of the womb, outcasts banding together, begrudging fathers looking after wilful children (my favourite trope to ever exist.) As for sapphics, I think it’s interesting that so much wlw content online is either tragic or full of gore, so you have to try and be the change you want to see in the world, and that means writing more sweet sappy stuff for my favourite girl pairs. that and a shit load of emotional angst.
22. Do you listen to anything while you write?
Yes! I tend really far towards soundtracks from movies, but which movie and which song depends on the scene i’m writing. i can get really picky with it so sometimes picking the song takes longer than actually writing lmao. i lean a lot on hans zimmer and the christopher nolan soundtracks, especially inception, but for something more intense i go dunkirk, or more otherworldly i go dune. as for sad, the pacific of the lion king. so a real mix! songs with words are far more difficult to listen to and concentrate with, so soundtracks are good because they both help me concentrate and set the mood for whatever scene i’m about to write!
thanks so much!

Oregonian here who would die without her show tunes but I guess (due to at least one actor in the thing being from here) the movie soundtracks of Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory, Grease 2 and Xanadu are okay as well as the Broadway cast albums of Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark and Hadestown because Patrick Page and I think Storm Large was in Lizzie so that's in the clear. Any other Oregonians know any Oregonians in stage or movie musicals I missed?
But in terms of Oregonian non-theater musicians (who would otherwise align with my taste) we got Elliott Smith, The Decemberists, Laura Veirs, Courtney Love, The Doubleclicks, Peter and Evynne Hollens (so I can listen to stuff I wouldn't otherwise be "allowed" to via their covers), The Builders And The Butchers, Portugal. The Man, Everclear, Blind Pilot, The Shins and M. Ward (and this is just what I know for sure came from here I'm not sure the definition of originated being used, unsurprisingly most of them are from Portland)
And if I'm to give myself a slightly wider selection by including my birth state of Ohio even though I moved to Oregon when I was 18 months old; for non-theater musicians I add Twenty One Pilots, Hawthorne Heights, Kid Cudi, Relient K, Machine Gun Kelly, Rascal Flatts and The National and the musicals' soundtracks it opens up to me through an Ohioan in the cast are Wicked, the movie soundtrack of Cabaret, the movie soundtrack of The Pajama Game, Calamity Jane, The Princess And The Frog, the movie soundtrack of West Side Story and the movie soundtrack of Bells Are Ringing
Wish there were more Broadway options (especially modern, why do both states seem to produce a lot of old-school musical theater actors) but the non-Broadway stuff I'd have to choose from (esp. Twenty One Pilots. The Decemberists, Relient K, The Doubleclicks and Peter and Evynne Hollens) almost makes up for no Taylor Swift, Post Malone, Noah Kahan, The Mountain Goats, Imagine Dragons or Carrie Underwood
