breaking my silence we as a fandom (collective) need to have a quick meeting. now look, we love praising fan artists and giving them lots of love which, hey they deserve it cuz they’re amazing and incredible and talented and should be revered but!! i think we need to give an equated amount of love to fanfic writers. these mfs are a) putting their time and effort into A NON PROFIT PIECE OF MEDIA entirely for their and our benefit just because they want to b) going through life threatening situations to get their chapters out c) using their talents to feed our delusions and desires d) making OUR LITTLE DUMB HEADCANONS COME TO LIFE!! THEY MAKE IT HAPPEN!! THEY MAKE IT REAL!! i will literally forever be indebted to fanfic writers bc no matter if their work gets 10000 hits 10 hits or stays in their notes app they STILL!! WROTE IT!! still took the time to carefully craft and mend their masterpiece!! made someone’s day even if it was their own!!! the fact that some of them come up with LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF WORDS OF FIC feels kinda undermined to me??? like mf they DID THAT AND NO ONE ASKED THEM TO? But jokes aside this is wild like literaly the episode ended with bi buck reveal and straight away (bad pun I'm sorry) we have the promo that starts with Eddie high jacking the date. Like this has been approuve by the team not just PR like it has to have been approved. And if they didn't want buddie they wouldn't do it like that, heck if they didn't want buddie the bi reveal would not have included eddie and we definitely wouldn't have eddie interrupt the date (I know it's been said before but that is fanfiction territory and just wild!). I totally agree they are DEFINITELY not against buddie (as you said in all the interviews things are looking really good for us) and if I’m 100% honest I do think they’re only being vague still to try to keep us guessing

Like I mentioned this before 7x04 aired but buck and Tommy kissing could make buddie becoming canon less of a shock to the fans so I think that while they kinda needed to do it that way to better communicate to the new audience and GA, sorta to set the scene, they’re kinda now trying to still maintain as much build up and shock for when they do make buddie canon if you get what I mean?

My favorite fanfic of all time is one that 20-100 people wrote the summer of 2020. It’s about bj Hunnicutt from mash going from California to Maine to love and save and win back hawkeye pierce. We all wrote and rewrote this story dozens of times, each time adding or changing a bit of it, until the truest version of it only existed in our minds and hearts. 10000/10 unparalleled experience. Here are a couple of examples of it: boat fic was the very first of the genre and then this one is another favorite variation

A close second place is a four-way tie between holmes/watson iterations:

Amd finally since amiibo support is confirmed and costumes are too - the artbook actually confirmed it but I don't really think that's a spoiler because it's a very obvious mechanic to bring back than just having them be used once only for the paraglider skins you get that was officially confirmed here below so I can't wait to get my ocarina of time and twilight princess gear back that I can wear for the whole game!

Over all I just really want to have fun in this game and really it looks like it's going to deliver. I can't wait to sink hundreds if not thousands of hours into and I REALLY REALLY hope it can at least fix a lot of it's predecessors issues, especially with how it executes it's story. I keep saying it, breath of the wild *had* the potential to be one of the best zelda stories ever but it was done so extremely poorly trying to tell it, majority of it is just ruined. I sincerely hope Nintendo has learned their lesson from that and actually let the Link/you the player actually play throughand experience the games narrative instead of just... having it exposition dumped onto you over and over in flashback cutscenes as stuff that's already happened and can't be changed. I went having this game with very low confidence it was first revealed in 2019, but the more and more I keep seeing it now the higher my optimism gets and I actually genuinely hope this game is really good.

I'm actually wishing the best for it and desperately hope it doesn't disappoint. We've all waited so long, and now we have only a little bit more to go.

Post-Crimson Rivers (Spoilers)

so I finished Crimson Rivers last night. I cried, I stared at a wall for over an hour, I cried some more, and then I had to find a light-hearted fic in my bookmarks to fill the void.

the ending was SO good. the second to last chapter made me so so happy on so many levels. I was so glad everyone was getting their happy endings in one way or another.

that last chapter though...oh my gods.

it was also a happy chapter!! don't get me wrong!!! both Sirius' pov and James' pov made me feel so so full after reading them. Sirius dropping everything to find his brother during a storm; Regulus finally being at a place where he could thank Sirius for volunteering for him and admitting he would've done the same; James finally releasing the horcrux hornet; Regulus throwing a snowball at James like he did when they were kids; literally the entire snowman scene. it all made me so happy for them.

and then Regulus' pov. ow. I hadn't realized how badly Evan's death still hurt until that moment. I understood how Regulus' dream was actually a very good thing and was indicative of how far he'd come and how much he had healed and was still going to heal, but I was devastated. getting the reminder that Evan was dead and he and Regulus hadn't truly interacted since he died in the arena just hit so much harder than I thought it would. not to mention the rollercoaster of emotions I experienced when Regulus actually climbed to the top of the tree and then embraced the freefall?? *rattling the bars of my cage* oh my gods.

also, in the second to last chapter when James and Regulus were arguing over who got Sirius as their best man and Regulus reminded James that his best friend (Evan) and Barty were both dead, I was like "haha😭yeah James😭his friends are dead😭give him Sirius😭" like I'm glad Regulus was at a point where he could casually bring it up but me? I was not ready for that reminder </3

anyways, rip Evan and Barty and Monty and Marlene and Frank and everyone else we lost along the way. I'm so glad the survivors all got to work on healing and building their happy lives post-war, and that Jegulus, Wolfstar, and Marylily persevered but I'll never recover from the losses of everyone else </3

TLDR; Crimson Rivers was beautifully written. I don't think a piece of writing has ever impacted me as much as this fanfic has. 10000/10, highly recommend. you will need therapy after

Sirius: Hurt/Comfort and slow burns 10000% You already know Sirius would be cuddled up under his blankets at 3 a.m. silently DYING over these fics. The angst?? The fluff??? THE PINING??? He lives for it.

Remus: Headcannoning him as the type to only read well developed plots, if it has under 10k words its just not for him. I'm talking full on plot twists, foreshadowing, someone needs to have at LEAST one near-death experience. He finds a few authors he really likes and typically sticks to their works.

Peter: Avoids all fics with content warnings because he just CANNOT deal with that rn. Everybody lives fics only. Fix-it fics, fics like the "raising harry" ones, anything where everybody lives and everybody is HAPPY. Tooth rotting fluff only here. Usually sticks to group fics rather than individual pairings.

James: ... Okay let's all be honest here, he's a smut reader. All the kink fest fics he can get his hands on, and OH GOD the enemies to lovers fics??? Drooling. He's obsessed with unlikely romance and extremely obvious Dom/Sub relationships. Put a "Plot What Plot/Porn Without Plot" tag in there and he's HOOKED.

Regulus: Pure, soul crushing angst. (Happy ending is optional) Canon compliant fics bring him pain but like the good kind, y'know. Loves Hurt/Comfort but likes it better when it's like 10k words of angry sex and misunderstandings before the actual comfort part happens. Has the occasional craving for the most poetic, sappy, sickeningly romantic fics on the planet every once in a while but will refuse to admit to it.

I am all about Hualian 10000%. It's just a matter of preference, and I'll explain why I like one better than the other, but I'm not crapping on Wangxian shippers at all. Something for everyone haha!

Here's the thing. I like a lot about Wangxian. They've got a very Kirk/Spock thing a lot of the time that is eternally entertaining. But I just don't like the way they have sex. I dislike the way they have sex so much that it kind of retroactively made me less interested in the pairing as a whole. More specifically, I don't like how Lan Wangji does sex. People had warned me about it and I was like, "Eh, but I'm fine with CNC, all I need is that first C, so it's fiiiine." But. Nope. Thankfully this isn't a personal trigger for me, just a very firm preference, but I just...to quote myself in a previous post, "while the book did a good job convincing me that Wei Wuxian is into everything Lan Wangji does to him, it didn't do a good job convincing me that Lan Wangji knows that for sure, or is in control of himself, or would stop if Wei Wuxian didn't like something." That just isn't to my taste.

On the other hand, Hualian are also implied to be having rough and kinky sex, but there's much more of a feeling that they're communicating about it. I'm not expecting them to like, have a formal safeword or anything, but even just:

"Sorry, I went overboard last night," Hua Cheng apologized. It took a moment for Xie Lian to realize what he meant, and he quickly waved his hands. "Wh-what are you saying? That's not it at all--everything's fine!" Hua Cheng arched an eyebrow. "Is that so? If everything is fine even after that, does that mean I didn't go overboard last night? Does that mean I can...?"

Like. They're goofy about it and Hua Cheng loves to tease Xie Lian but they are actually talking about sex when they're not having sex. There's a degree to which they're communicating outside of the heat of the moment. And even in the amnesia extra (which makes me feel so bad for Hua Cheng omg he's being surprisingly chill but I need to write some meta about how miserable he must be during that) Xie Lian's fuzzy memories of what he at first assumes was a rape are full of the sense of being gentled and cherished and of their fingers and red strings tangling even as he's held down and roughed up.

Also the chapter opening with,

Laughing, Xie Lian pushed Hua Cheng off him -- his crushing weight was making it hard to breathe. The heat and passion had yet to subside when something suddenly occurred to him. "Oh yeah, San Lang," he began offhandedly.

That's so stinking cute I can't. They are so comfortable. Nothing in their relationship overall or in the hints of their sex life we see implies in the slightest that Hua Cheng isn't in control of himself in the most important ways (I do tend to think of him being a shaking crying coming-too-soon mess the first few times, but that's a very different kind of out of control lol). He worships Xie Lian, literally. Lan Wangji has this underlying layer of horny anger born in a repressed childhood; Hua Cheng's horny is all built on reverence. THAT IS MY JAM.

As for SVSSS, I think I will probably read it if only to try to figure out what on earth its fandom is talking about. It's...like an isekai I think? Which is not usually my thing, but at this point I feel like I gotta round out the trio haha!

Watched the RWRB movie with my partner last night, and man do I have THOUGHTS ABOUT IT (in random order, don't come for me, I have ADHD)

Who was that security lady? She got Zahra's scenes!!! Zahra was the one who was going to get them "five minutes" time at the dinner party.

The karaoke scene was soooo baaddd. The Prince of England was there on the stage singing and no one cared. There was literally no one cheering for him??

New Year's Party was okay, I liked that. At least they did that right. But it would have been better with June.

Basically throughout the movie, I was constantly missing June. Don't blame me, I love her.

The Lake house could have been waaaaayyy better with June there.

While we're talking about missing characters, Where is Raphael Luna?? Okay, it works without Luna, but the whole political campaign got messed up without him.

The Campaign was "will you vote for a predator and a homophobe, or will you vote for Clairmont who is an ally" and we didn't get to see that in the movie.

We could also have liked to see WHY Alex's emails were hacked??? And who did that??? And how did they do that???

Also, while we're on the topic of emails, Alex gave a whole political statement without asking Henry, or talking to him first?!?!? Why?? They have such good communication about that in the book!!

Where was Princess Katherine?! Okay, she was an absent mom, but then she was supposed to come back and support her child and she didn't! And there's a mention of her in the movie, BUT WHERE IS SHE??!

And then there is Prince Philip, and I am sorry but he looked so small XD XD I laughed waaaaay to hard at that. He looked like a cute baby, I am sorry. I can't take him seriously.

There. Were. No. Star. Wars. References. ;-; THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO GET A STARWARS MURAL!! Theres so much Fanart of the Alex and Henry as Han Solo and Princess Leia Mural ;-; I was hoping it would be there.

THEY MISSED SO MANY DIALOGUES TOO!!!! The "What in the rich white people sex dungeon hell" and "HENRY!! YOU OBTUSE FUCKING ASSHOLE"

WHERE WAS THE SCREAMING AT THE PALACE TO BE LET IN, AND THE HATE SEX AFTER???

Also, that "making love" scene was so cringe. There are better fanfics written than that scene. I have read better fanfics for research.

My partner pointed out that the election map of America. Arizona didn't turn Blue. Neither did Nevada. They said it makes " -10000% sense" for Texas to turn blue and the other states dont.

Unhappy: It really depends on the story because I read stories where it doesn't end good, but I legit loved them. Like not every story is going to have a happy ending to them but will have a satisfying ending if that makes sense (something something some dark horrors something something)
