Definitely up there on the list of shitty birthdays. Between work being an absolute shitshow (including me walking in to 35+ emails and the knowledge that we weren't given the stuff we needed to cover our coworker effectively, a rush assignment that needed to be done EOD, and a bunch of other stuff), it was gale force winds, my building parkade was broken into, I'm running on barely any sleep, my birthday feeling like an afterthought the way my siblings' weren't, my dog shitting on the floor in protest for the first time in awhile and me coming back to clean it... I bought myself birthday cupcakes, which is probably a little pathetic, especially since it's not in my budget right now for takeout. I paid for the extra little happy birthday things to be put on them, but they weren't. I'm too tired for this. Just bone-weary.

Hope you’re well and that I’m not bothering you, is it okay if I request a sort of headcanony thing about Zhao where his S/O is Majima’s (adoptive?) daughter? Like if Majima was kinda overprotective, how’d he react when he finds out? Idk if this is weird or not thank you <3
SKSKSK this is so funny to me??? I've never done anything like this before so hopefully it's up to snuff n all that. Headcanons below. Last one for today, big sick rn.
First of all, Zhao just didn't know. Had he known, he would've been like "Listen, I'm pretty sure I got into a fistfight with your dad". In his defense, she wouldn't be surprised hearing that. Majima kind of gets into fights with LOTS of people.
Zhao isn't exactly scared of Majima but once he finds out his girlfriend's dad is Majima, he's like "...Okay, what now?" I mean, of course he knows he'll meet the guy eventually but what the heck are they going to say to each other?
On the flip side, Majima always knew his daughter would at some point grow up and probably eventually find a partner and even get married one day. He doesn't have a fatherly instinct in the same way that Kiryu does with Haruka but he does have that same protectiveness.
Majima would never demand that his daughter do or not do something, but he's seen her get heartbroken a couple of times before and it was only at the behest of his daughter that those guys weren't walking around missing an eye themselves right now. Of course, his daughter hasn't told Zhao about that yet...
In the end, they decide to invite Majima over for dinner at Zhao's place. They figured since Zhao's such a great cook and Majima is easily pliable with food, it's the best scenario. Plus, it's a private setting so they don't have to worry about being in public with Majima because... well, he's HIM.
Majima jokingly complains the whole way there, saying things like "Whaddya mean this guy's gonna cook dinner? If he's tryna impress me, it ain't gonna work!" Secretly, he's thinking it must be pretty serious if he's about to meet his daughter's boyfriend at the guy's house. And he's going to cook food too? He must be serious about his daughter then too...
Zhao doesn't come out to greet them as he's busy holding a giant ass wok in the kitchen. From the smell, Majima seems temporarily pleased but he's a little snippy about the fact Zhao didn't even come out to say hi. His daughter also goes to the kitchen to help Zhao plate the food. Meanwhile, Majima sits down grumbling to himself about manners and how the dinner better be damn good.
Once Zhao finally steps out of the kitchen and the two make eye contact, Majima literally just lets out a loud "ACK" and recognizes him immediately. Zhao just kind of waves hello casually. Majima just kind of sits there shocked for a little bit while his daughter fills up a plate for him and Zhao pours them all some tea.
Majima finally snaps out of it and starts making all kinds of noise about how come no one told him when his daughter said she was dating a guy named Zhao that it just so happened to be the same Zhao that he got into a fight with before the Omi dissolved. His daughter hands him his plate and in his noisy panic, he quickly snatches the plate out of her hands and haphazardly shovels some food into his mouth, still talking and yammering away.
He instantly realizes it was a mistake to doubt Zhao's cooking because the food immediately makes him shut up. His frenzy is placated with each bite and eventually he just kind of looks at Zhao and nods. In hindsight, despite having gotten into a fight with Zhao at one point, the guy always seemed pretty chill. Plus, he did help with dissolving the Omi... also, his clothes are kind of cool?
All in all, the night ends up going pretty well. Majima enjoys the food but to his surprise, and kind of to his daughter's surprise too, he enjoys the conversations with Zhao more. Seeing how genuinely happy his daughter was all the proof he needed though: this guy might be the real deal. Provided he doesn't get into a fist fight with him ever again.

do you think they have any shared interest or hobbies :0
they definitely bake! uzbekistan was nomadic for a while before settling down, so the food she has is definitely tasty, but for survival. making something sweet would have been a luxury these nomadic tribes didn't feel the need to have, hence her small array of desserts.
turkey however was given a lot of time to sit down and crave something sweet. not just that, he was surrounded by cultures that had something to bring to the table, which is how you get food like baklava, lokum, kunefe, and others.
so you have someone who doesn't know how to bake, and someone who has years of experience. he'd definitely teach her how to bake sweet treats!
in turn, she teaches him how to make her food: dimlama, somsa, and of course, osh/plov! heavy emphasis on the last one, this one time turkish food creators were trying to cook osh, they did it in a frypan... WHERES YOUR WOK !!
but its ok because when uzbekistan teaches turkey to make uzbek pahlava, he almost cries inside. raisins?? a meringue layer?? what??
they both also watch turkish dramas. though it's funny because when they watch it at her house, some parts sadik was absolutely sure were in the episode are just gone.
🇺🇿: see we had to get rid of the not halal parts of the episode
🇹🇷: so you got rid of like. half the episode???
🇺🇿: i got jumpscared by a guy and a girl eating their faces off once it's not happening again
so anyways the marketing team for mendirman jaloliddin definitely called them over and took promotional pics with them.
they also probably watch those russian true crime dramas about cases from the ussr(rip uzb is a true crime girly)
dancing! when turkey goes to uzbek weddings with her, she(and the local grandmas) teach him how to dance. she falls on the floor in stitches every time. halay is easier for her to get used to, until the music randomly speeds up and slows down.
unrelated but... in my mind...miss nargiza is so so good at lazgi. this is my sign to draw her in a lazgi fit. it's how she trains herself to smile at world meetings, since you need to keep a smile on the whole time. watching her dance is...kinda uncanny...
museums, sometimes? uzbekistan loves going to art and history museums, she likes looking at the legacy her people have left behind! she brings turkey along as well. depending on what kind of museum, he'd be down for it or he'll pass
🇹🇷: but i've already seen you in those outfits like 3 centuries agooooo
🇺🇿: ok but have you seen these tapestries?? never probably
music. rubob-baglama duo when
reading! i like to think sometimes they'll chill and read
oh omg clothes shopping too. again I can see turkey flip flopping around: sometimes he likes it sometimes he hates it but I imagine they spend time picking out each others' outfits <3

— 𝟐𝐤+ 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧!!
thank you all for the love and attention towards me and my woks! i can’t believe i’ve made it this far because, honestly, i thought my followers would stop coming in around 150 ha! i’ve decided on making my own prompt list based off lyrics of certain songs. so you can request with more options, including this prompt list! idea for this was by @andersonsgirl !! ( event masterlist )
but if you're too drunk to drive, and the music is right she might let you stay, but just for the night
If I can't have you baby, no one else in this world can
despite the space between us i've never felt this close to someone
i love to love you, and i hate to hate you
Why? 'Cause I'm a jealous, jealous, jealous girl
look at you, looking at me.
and there's no way that i'll end up being with you, but friends don't look at friends that way
Am I that girl that you dream of?
so you open your dress and show me your tits
You're falling hard, I push away, I'm feeling hot to the touch
your lips my lips, apocalypse
how am i suppose’ to tell ya’ i don’t wanna see you with anyone but me.
let me put my hands on my knees and you can braid my hair
Baby, I'm a gangster too and it takes two to tango
when i’m alone, i’d rather be with you.
But something keeps me really quiet, I'm alive, I'm a lush
Bring ya' baby down, down, go cheerleader
dance naked for the neighbors
No one compares to you, but there's no you
Will you still love me when I got nothing but my aching soul?
Watching the video where you’re lying in your red lingerie ten times nightly
It's enough just to make you feel crazy, crazy, crazy
you don’t get it, you just don’t get it, you’ve already forgotten even though i just said it
Let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain
So don't make me sad, don't make me cry
Put me onto your black motorcycle
You say you miss me and I wanna say I miss you so much
You would use your songs to say the words you couldn’t say
It’s making you cry every time you give your love to me this way
As I heard you say, “all that I want is to be yours”
Touch me with a kiss, feel me on your lips
I wanna line my walls with photographs you sent
each time you kiss a girl you never know what it’s worth
you can meet me at my hotel, with nothin’ on under your trench coat
my rules are simple. pick a lyric and say the character you would like for me to write a drabble in my inbox! i’ll write smut, fluff, ansgt, comfort and tropes of your choice— ex. (enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, academic rivals to lovers, etc.) characters featured in this event are gwen stacy, ellie williams, abby anderson, tess servopoulos, & wednesday addams. enjoy and please follow my guidelines!!

Ok. I know you motherfuckers are going to have some options here, so I decided to share with you one of my favourite recipes: shit noodles (also known as scrap noodles, white noodles, or chow mein)
One thing that's important to note is that I generally try to use as few utensils for this as possible, so if you like the idea then all you're allowed to use is a pot, a pan, a pot lid to drain, and some chopsticks or a fork. Use the same utensils you used to cook with to eat with
So, it's basically just fried noodles and some filler, so let's start with the filler. I'm using scallions, garlic, and whatever scraps of meat I could find, but you coukd use spinach, bok choy, mushrooms, peppers, or whatever else you feel like. I generally wouldn't use cured meat but if you want to experiment, feel free
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I chop all of that as fine as I can (this is personal preference because of sensory shit. Do whatever you feel like) and then start boiling the noodles. You could boil the noodles while you do this, but I've found it's better to have this ready because it takes a while to chop
Also, if you chose chopsticks earlier you can place them across your pan and they'll stop it from boiling over assuming they're wood
Tumblr media
They need boiling because they're freeze-dried but if you use higher quality noodles they'll be all noodly already and not hard and crunchy, so this isn't necessary. Of course, at that point you risk losing the vibe of this being a quick, cheap college meal and becoming actual dinner
I generally use two blocks of instant noodles for this and eat it all, but this time I used three and saved some for later. Actually, after my first bowl I tried to go back for the rest thinking I was hungrier than I was and saved what I couldn't eat for today
Anyway. Boil those until they're softer, but still good and wavy. If they get too soft in the pot then they'll get even softer in the pan and might not be the texture you're looking for. Experiment with what works best for you
Also, I use the flavour packet. It's not the only flavouring I use as you'll see, but I find that it doesn't hurt
Next, drain the noodles and throw all the other ingredients in a wok, skillet or frying pan with either sesame oil or butter. If you do use oil, only use a little bit. You'll be using butter later. I also put the veg in before the meat since that's already been cooked, but you do you. I also put in some salt, a lot of pepper, and a little ginger powder since I didn't have fresh ginger
Tumblr media
Fry all of that to your heart's content, and then dump in your noodles. Try and probably fail to combine the finicky little bits with the giant mass that you just covered them with, and throw in as much soy sauce as you're comfortable with, and a metric fucktonne (that's a little bit for imperial users. A smidgen. A nip) of butter. If you missed the salt and pepper before you could do it here but it feels wrong. Stir fry and toss in your wok to feel cool until everything is combined and the noodles dry out a little bit, and then serve
Tumblr media
This makes enough for it to be a one a day kind of meal, so I generally make it at 2am when I haven't had breakfast yet. Today I was feeling fancy though, so I poured a small glass of my friend's insane pear mead that I'll never publicly admit is better than mine, and sat down to unwind.
Tumblr media
Enjoy, my friends. And enjoy telling me how wrong my cooking is. I've seen some real crimes and know that god has bigger worries than my survival

Last Monday of the Week 2023-03-20
Spinning around and doing very little
Listening: Completely missed the new 100 gecs album because I was travelling over the weekend. I'll get to that. In the meantime I've had the closing track from The Will to Live by Titus Andronicus stuck in my head, that's 69 Stones.
The will to live can be an awful curse Upon an Earth that's just a lot of dirt Whenever it is that you're getting hurt That's just the will to live doing its work
The Will to Live is probably the second best Titus Andronicus album, and a solid return to form for the band, it's the album that's the most like The Monitor imo. It's literally got a song called "We're Coming Back"
There's a live performance of this that isn't that good as your first encounter, very "end of a long show" live performance that's no doubt great in person, but just. When did Patrick Stickles start looking like that. The man is absolutely fucking shredded, it's kind of concerning.
youtube
yeah. I am looking.
Reading: Someone put up this article on the intricacies of tofu in China and I'm now even more upset about the utter dearth of good tofu options in stores around here. Every time I want to make a tofu thing it's basically impossible to find anything other than the softest shittiest silken tofu that is useless for anything structural and now I learn that they have shit like alkaline tofu? So mad.
Watching: Travellers, when I get a chance. It's fine, decent sci-fi really, but I'm not paying attention to TV shows the way I would like to for reasons.
Chef Wang Gang is an extremely good professional Chinese chef who runs a good YouTube channel if you're interested in Chinese food. Most of his stuff is kind of impractical to make without a very wok-centric kitchen but you can make some of it work.
Far more interesting to me is that he runs a line of prepared food canteen style things and is trying to bring out a commercial store shelf food line, and he does occasional tours of his factory. It's really cool to see the inside of a modern high-end food factory, it's a fascinating mix of laboratory and kitchen. All these videos have good English subtitles.

You can see them doing things like trialing expiry dates and best before dates for the packaged food options, the full cold chain for frozen ingredients, and the complexities of the packaging process, which is so neat. You've got all this equipment for mass-producing food but also a complete scientific kitchen for designing those recipes. Industrial environments are so cool.
Playing: Picking idly at things here and there. Too busy most nights for competitive Valorant with my usual squad.
Making: Plenty of quilt sewing, the decision to go away to see family over the weekend means that's still not quite done. About ⅕ left to go.
Tools and Equipment: You may think that butterfly knives are mostly showy bullshit, and you'd be right, but they're also remarkably effective if you need a knife you can open and close safely with only one hand. Arguably they're as good as Axis-lock knives for that, once you have the basic open down they're perfectly safe and very controllable. I mostly use mine as a prying and scraping tool because I blunted it for training and never bothered to sharpen it again, but it's very useful for those tasks.

Code of Ethics - Ch. 21 - Walkable Landing
Tumblr media
This is the largest separation between publications of chapters I've had for this fic to date, but that's only because I've been focussing on new stuff going to my Patreon. Enterprising followers will also note the addition of this fic on my AO3 page, though I haven't gotten all chapters up-to-date yet.
Also, if I keep writing at my current pace, I may have to increase my release frequency.
Diane's Commander's Ability has given her a foothold into the slaver's station, now to just finish them off...
Preview below the cut:
She wound up selecting, ‘Swinging on a Star,’ having been inspired by the bouncy, bold brass of the big band sound she’d not-quite-on-purpose summoned to break into the station. She was apparently so ‘in the zone’ with her Commander’s Ability by that point that all it took was for her to start the music up over the starbase’s PA system (and, apparently, her comms as indicated by Russe gasping in childlike wonder) was to step off the lift and ‘snap’ her fingers while thinking of the song. As soon as her armor-clad middle finger ‘clacked’ against the palm of her gauntlet (the physics of the finger snap were, she would wind up researching later, completely broken and meant that if you had your hand in any sort of glove just wouldn’t create an actual ‘snap’ sound) the sound of drums and horns kicked off the song.
What followed was about one and a half minutes of a practical slaughter set to music that was nearly two-hundred years old and, by the time she’d heard it the first time in kindergarten, was considered a children’s song and usually set to a jouncy-flouncy piano tune. Her father had been a collector of vintage (meaning genuinely antique) vinyl records. Almost as soon as he heard six-year old Dylan singing it to a group of carefully arranged action figures he dug out an old (really old) recording that had been salvaged from some collection somewhere. To Diane’s later shame, she hadn’t ever paid enough attention to her father’s stories about his collection before her mom died, and after mom’s death he just shut down before committing suicide when she was 11 and Tiffany proceeded to sell off or trash anything she didn’t see value in keeping from Diane’s parents, including all her dad’s old records.
This is for you, dad, she found herself thinking as she sang, “...and by the way, if you hate to go to school, you may grow up to be a mule!” before delivering to a charging slaver a superfluously new orifice in the center of his chest.
A couple of centuries ago some man named Frank Sinatra had poured just an absolute master-class level of sass into a song that seemed, on the surface, to be about a bunch of animals and their associated behavior. It was just non-sensical enough that if the listener wasn’t paying attention, they might miss that the lyrics were highlighting behaviors that were antisocial or undesirable in a civil society and comparing them to less than appealing animals.
She racked another round into her shotgun’s chamber and did a sliding Charleston step to dodge an energy round from a pistol fired at her from down the hall before returning fire with the kind of accuracy and resulting carnage a shotgun in an urban combat environment could bring. “Would you like to swing on a star?” Naturally, the lyrics felt particularly appropriate during the chorus, which was all about the ambition to stride the heavens as a metaphor for being successful at life.
She did a little dancing twirl, as though she were wearing ballet flats instead of combat-rated gravity boots and took out two more crewmen with two trigger pulls on the beat, “Carry moonbeams home in a jar,” after all, her entire purpose as a player in this game was to become a truly phenomenal station commander and eventually be powerful enough to change the astropolitical space-scape, right?
Diane’s mental count of shots fired from her shotgun told her she’d discharged the last round, so she slung the long-gun over her shoulder, letting the carry strap catch it against her back, as she lifted the P390 to her shoulder and flicked the fire select switch from ‘Full’ to ‘Burst’ and ventilated four slavers trying to cram into the hallway she was walking down through a door clearly meant for a single person at a time, “And be better off then you are...or would you rather be a pig?” Of course, she was supposed to be looking for rogue A.I. and infiltrating spaces they were supposed to be hiding so future hunts could eliminate the threat to humanity, but it was decidedly unlikely that any of these goons she was popping were A.I. beyond the ‘dumb’ kind that managed NPCs in games. She was more likely to find a rogue either in Ops or hidden-in-plain-site among the slaves.
So why not have some fun in the meantime?
There was a natural break in the song between the end of the chorus where the next animal to be discussed was named and the actual verse featuring its attributes, so Diane started doing a skipping dance down the hallway to the music, section now free of hostiles. Russe’s voice cut in, “Oh, lookie there,” he said as preamble, “Someone’s asking nicely to use the comms!”
Diane paused in her dancing stroll and glanced around. She spotted a room with an open door, someone’s office from the looks of it, and ducked inside before saying, “Really? Think they’re offering to surrender?”
“Only one way to find out, you want me to put ‘em on?”
She grinned, perhaps a little savagely, “Why not? It’s only sporting.”

Naomi gives up on the floorboard and the paint and just skips to making lunch.
She feels... restless. Chopping vegetables takes a bit of the edge off of it, but there's something under her skin, a nervous energy she can't seem to shake off. Normally this would be when she chats with Willa, but today she finds herself focused on making the stir fry, and even Rags only gets a cursory head scratch when he wakes up and bops his head to her knee.
"Are you okay?" Naomi finally looks up from the wok to see Willa looking at her, little felt eyebrows furrowed. "You've seemed weird this morning."
"I think so," Naomi says, too fast, and she sees in her face that Willa isn't convinced. "I just feel... indecisive. Like I've got an itch and don't know where to scratch."
"That's weird. Maybe you're tired." Willa's trunk emerges from the frame, and lifts the bowl of sauce to tip it into the wok. "Taking a day to have fun might be good."
"Oh, but this is fun, I promise!" The trunk retreats, and Willa's little face fills the frame again. "I just need to find my groove for today, that's all."
"I can tell. You're a little all over the place."
"I don't think I've been that bad..."
"Miss Naomi, you forgot to put rice in the rice cooker before you turned it on." Naomi's eyes widen, and she runs to the other counter to stop it from just boiling water. Willa reaches through to jostle the wok handle with her trunk.
Rags whines, and Willa gives an affirmative trumpet.
"I don't think her groove is the problem, Ragamonster." Rags simply chuffs in response.

1 AM Brother Dear Sesh
In true love, you choose not to count the demerits and detentions; even when you can easily afford to do so.
My baby brother called me at an odd hour while I'm hyper-focusing on time-bound tasks in time for YE 2023. Since my social calendar is quite loaded until January Week 1 or 2, I timed myself to down this baby dragon EOD, Friday.
Since my phone is usually on sleep mode when I'm doing important and urgent stuff, I almost missed his call. He asked me how I was and where I was, too. Told him I'm home. He paused and took a really deep breath. I asked if he's having anxiety or panic attack. He told me that he's okay, but the sister of his MIL expired. I can't believe what I heard because I'm still grieving the loss of soul sis' MIL that coincided with this year's Immaculate Conception. Since mother dragon is Marian, too, I'm dumbfounded, honestly. No triggers but there's a hollow pain that hits hard. I tried finding peace by reminding myself that death is friend everyone should welcome.
Baby bro asked if I heard his news. I said yes. I asked about the details but just the top line ones. I asked what help he needed. He said that it's fine and that he's got it. His voice was shaky but determined. I asked again. His reply didn't budge. He asked if I can come visit once the arrangements are in order. I kidded him that I'd most likely be up all night to down work stuff. LOL. He assured me that it's okay. I told him that I'd be there, of course.
Dad went back to Manila house and called me up to remind me that we're going to the wake. I almost forgot that we'd have to go and support my brother during this trying times. Dad egged me saying that it's fine if I don't go because work is life. LOL. Ano ba naman ang pag-drive niya on a Friday back to Manila to pick up the passenger princess me, 'di ba? Maliit na bagay. LOL. I told him that I'd come and that honestly, I didn't notice the time passed today.
When he arrived, he asked if I could cook fried rice for him to go with his legit Laguna pasalubong, fried white tilapia. I actually don't want to get up and do this bit, but, I've seen dad in a wonky emotional state that's so surprising because he's always chill and go with the flow. I even added more rice so that he can indulge a bit more than my usual portions for him due to his weakening knee and his overgrown paunch. As he downed the fried rice, he said that it kind of reminds him of North Park fried rice. I laughed out loud and told him that I don't have a wok so the flavors are not as popping as the North Park OG version. Of course, he bashed me again. He asked me to join him for dinner but I already got my go-to pampagana sa deadline -- Serenitea trio + 1L pearl milktea (kakataho ko lang kasi the past days), 50% sugar, less ice. I watched him finish his food and off we went to the wake.
I saw my brother stepping up even when he's wobbly inside out. He has sleeping problems on top of looking after his almost newborn son. However, over vape, he shared that he was promoted. And I told him that my specific prayer for his interview with another company is simple: May he get the job he deserves especially at this time. Raising two kids ain't a joke. I even added na sana, macover na gatas atbp nung bunso niya para 'di na ako maabala. LOL. Poof. He was rejected by company B and bagged an overdue promotion. No merit increase yet, but, I'm trying to train him to negotiate with empathy at the core. He's proud of this milestone and I can sense and see how much validation he felt after the rejection in his latest job interview.
I told him to wiggle a decent pay bump and I am willing to sit with the panel or the HR to lobby this. LOL. Of course, he said no way. I pushed a bit more and said that it's about time he levels up his game not only RPG-speaking, but IRL, too. He also shared details of his personal life updates. I listened and ask some questions. I guess, this is me choosing to be kind rather than to be right; even when it's so easy to bash him straight up. I tried being a bit gentler even when I want to whack him right on the face, too. This ain't easy because I am my brother's wicked keeper since 1989. He asked me if I was in my element and why the hell am I not raising an eyebrow. I told him that it was just a long day and a hard night. He seems weirded out, too.
He also shared details of his fatherhood era. I can't still fathom how I'd be able to swing a formula milk that's hypoallergenic. LOL. I asked him if my pamangkin would like a Samba or formula milk. He said that he's going for the milk. I chuckled and asked if he was super sure. He said yes. He also shared that he has already computed th cost of raising two kids until college. Natawa ako e. But, let this be a reminder that while my brother is flawed and we're opposites, he is trying his best to step up.
Perhaps, I am seeing glimmers of intention. Perhaps, I'm finally sensing a stronger sense of giving more and taking less. Perhaps, it's him living his dream (to have kids and get married) along with battling its harsh realities and shadows. Perhaps, mother dragon's fervent prayer for him is finally being answered. Perhaps, this is me seeing his light, in a more forgiving angle. Maybe, a little flattering, too.
While I am full on tough love to my only brother, now, may I choose to be his partner instead of his pulis pangkalawakan. As I am keying this in, I am taking deeper breaths. This is not gonna be easy, but, seeing him emerge with growth sprouts is a milestone. Nadali tayo ng correct answer na hindi Samba for the holidaze ni bunso niya.
I'll be back to my work drawing board in a bit. Excited to finish it off, honestly; but time is always a construct and a constraint. Being the go-to elder sister of the universe and saying no more and more is something I'm learning on training wheels. I know this is gonna be tough but I'm ready for the pivot. LUH. Tapang 'yan? LELS. Or baka excited lang ako sa catch up sesh na sobrang tagal planned and 'di na talaga puwede put on hold this Saturday!

Far From Home
Summary: Kagome is never too far from trouble, it seems. After moving to America to start over, she ends up in Hawkins just as strange things start to happen. Fandom: Inuyasha x Stranger Things (Ch 4) Crossover
Also available on FF.Net and AO3
Chapter 03
Finding Nancy turned out to be impossible. She wasn't at home and none of her parents knew of her whereabouts. The Weekly Streak was also closed and no one who worked there had seen her since much earlier. On her own, Kagome expanded her ki and tried to locate Nancy but the exhaustion took a toll on her abilities. In the end, they decided to call it a day.
With the trailer park being under surveillance by the police, Kagome suggested that Eddie should go home with her. She lived in a small cottage in a secluded area, close to the former Byer's house. It gave her enough connection to the woods and the right amount of privacy. The fact a child was abducted not far from there made the location quite undesirable, therefore the rental agency was happy to give her a good price for the lot without mentioning it.
Upon entering, Eddie saw the living room, which consisted of a couch, a bookcase and a TV. The walls were painted in pastel colors and were mostly bare, except for a few framed family pictures. On one side, there was a small kitchen and dining area. The doors on the other side led to the bathroom and bedroom. The simple decoration kept the place tidy but cozy.
Kagome took off her shoes by the door and Eddie followed her lead. She handed him a pair of slippers and then headed to the kitchen.
"Are you hungry? I'm starving," said Kagome as she opened the refrigerator.
"Yeah. I haven't had a proper meal since yesterday. I've been living on whatever I had at my van and that Rick had left at home."
"Hmm, I have rice, eggs, some veggies, leftover chicken." She looked up. "Do you like fried rice?"
"Can't say I've tried it before, but I'll take anything. Do you need help? I'm not a good cook, but I can cut the greens or wash dishes."
Kagome accepted the help and Eddie joined her behind the counter. She asked him to cut some green peppers and whisk the eggs. She explained how to season the eggs while she heated the wok. Eddie tried once to stir the frying rice but almost dropped the pan, much to Kagome's entertainment. Half an hour late, two steaming bowls of fried rice were ready.
“Itadakimasu!" Kagome beamed. The delicious scent was making her stomach growl. "That’s what we say in Japan before meals. You put your hands together and be thankful for the food,” Kagome explained. She didn’t expect him to do the same but somehow wasn't surprised when he did.
“This is really good!” Eddie said. “Neither my uncle nor I know how to prepare anything but the basics. We live on whatever is easier to prepare. I haven’t had something so good since Jeff’s mom banned me from their house.”
Kagome giggled. "This is nothing compared to my mom’s oden. It’s delicious, perfect for the winter. It’s what I’ve missed the most since moving here.” Her smile grew as she saw him munching another spoonful of rice. "I know some easy but delicious food. I can teach you some other time."
Eddie nodded. “You live here by yourself? Isn’t it lonely?”
Kagome's eyes softened. She put down her spoon and looked away. “Not as much as being avoided by everyone because they think you are a biohazard,” she murmured. Noticing his worried stare, she added, “I have had some circumstances where I was forced to skip school periodically for weeks back when I was fifteen. My grandpa would make up diseases to justify my absence. Even after I ‘miraculously’ recovered, people would still treat me like I was contagious.”
Eddie said nothing, but it was clear he was weighing his next words. He chewed the food while never taking his eyes away from her. For a moment, Kagome regretted sharing too much with someone she had just started to befriend until he finally spoke.
“Well, too bad for them that they missed the opportunity to get to know you, but now here you are, saving Hawkins’ number one freak’s ass and I’m happy for that.”
The following morning, Steve was by Kagome’s door with Max, Robin and Dustin. Eddie was finishing a piece of tamagoyaki, struggling to hold the egg roll with the chopsticks. He was freshly showered and his clothes were clean. Kagome wore comfortable clothes and had a yellow backpack packed with supplies. When Eddie asked about it, she said she wanted to be prepared for anything. Kagome had a feeling they would run into trouble sooner or later and decided to be safe.
“What’s this smell?” asked Dustin once they entered Steve’s car. With four people, the backseat was cramped, with Dustin almost sitting on Eddie's lap. He sniffed the older boy's hair. “Did you use a girl’s shampoo?”
"I hadn't showered for two days. My hair needed some love."
"He spent almost an hour in the bathroom last night," teases Kagome. "I had to knock to make sure he didn't fall asleep in the tub."
"The label said 30 minutes," his tone was serious. "Next time I want to try out that Jasmine scented one. It's supposed to make your hair fuller."
"Did you read all my hair products?"
"I was bored."
"At least you will make it believable that you guys spent the night together," said Robin. "You are already picking on each other like a couple. Did you practice holding hands and touching each other too?"
Kagome blushed. "What? No."
"If you have been intimate," said Steve, earning a blush from Eddie too, "then you can't be shy around each other. The sheriff will be suspicious if you don't look like you're dating. Oh, you didn't think about it, did you?"
"Well…" Kagome scratched her head, her cheeks burned and she couldn't meet anyone's eyes, "I didn't think that far…”
"That's easy. Let's create a background story. Hmm..., right. I’ve been checking her out for a few months, she joined my D&D night and I took the chance.” Eddie flashed a lopsided grin and winked at Kagome. “Right, babe?”
They didn’t have much time to discuss the details after this because several police cars blocked the road. They finally saw Nancy, who was talking to some cops not far ahead. An officer came to them and upon seeing Eddie, asked for sheriff Powell. With his best acting skills, Eddie pretended he wasn't aware of the previous day's event as he had been at Kagome's house since the night before. Powell looked at the girl, exchanged a few words with Callahan, and then asked both of them to go with him to the police station.
At the police station, Eddie and Kagome were split into two rooms. The girl didn’t say a word other than accepting the coffee offered, which she sipped unhurriedly. Gray walls, a metallic table and an equally unimpressive door were the only ornaments to look at. Officer Callahan kept her company until Powell joined them.
“Hello, Miss Higurashi, I’m Sheriff Powell and you already know Officer Callahan. I see that you are not from here. How long have you been in Hawkins?”
“Since last summer, sir.” He wrote it down.
“Where do you live?”
“In a cabin near the road to the Lover’s Lake.” She gave him her exact address.
“Do you live alone? Where are your parents?”
“My father died when I was a kid and my mother is in Tokyo, Japan. And yes, I live alone.”
“Where were you two nights ago, around 9 pm?”
Kagome looked down and forced an embarrassing memory into her mind. Once she felt her cheeks burning, she answered, “Home...”
“Alone?”
“With Eddie," she murmured.
"Edward Munson?" She nodded. “How did you meet Mr Munson?”
“We attend the same school and share some classes.”
“What is your relationship with Edward Munson?”
“We are… getting to know each other. His friend Dustin Henderson invited me to their game and we clicked off, you know?”
“I see." Powell took some notes. "That's all for now, Miss Higurashi. Please stay here for a few moments.”
Sometime later, Kagome met Eddie again at the entrance. They hugged and she assured him she was fine. Powell released Eddie under the condition he wouldn’t leave the city until further notice. As they walked away, Eddie held her hand and intertwined their fingers, squeezing it until they were far from prying eyes.
Kagome released a breath. “How did it go?” She asked.
“They kept trying to find a way to make me fall for their trap, having the same questions said in different ways to see if I would change my story. Despite it, seems that no one but Max saw me arriving with Chrissy. I had to name everyone that was in the game that night. I doubt they will drop their suspicions anytime soon, but couldn't keep me there if they can't find a connection. For now, you saved my life.”
“It was nothing.”
“On the contrary, it was everything! You are risking yourself helping someone like me. It’s just- I don’t even know how to repay you.”
“Stay true to yourself,” she said. “People don’t like who differs from the norm, but you shouldn't change for them. Just be you.”
“You talk from experience. Will you tell me about it?”
“You wouldn’t believe me.”
“I’ve seen someone being killed by an invisible force while floating in the air. At this point, someone tells me this is the work of Cthulhu, I’ll believe them.”
Kagome laughed and shook her head. “Don’t ever change, Eddie.”
Meeting the others was be easy since Steve drove by them. Kagome teared up at listening to Fred’s fate. The others reassured her there was nothing she could have done and that they would find a way to stop the monster - which they named Vecna, after the death-defying D&D spellcaster - and avenge them.
Max only needed a few minutes with Ms Kelly to snatch her office’s key. She dashed to the car before the counselor realized she was missing and they drove to the school. On the way, Lucas Sinclair contacted them, warning that Jason Carver was out for blood and believed Eddie was responsible for Chrissy's death. They told him to meet them at the school.
“Chrissy and Fred both talked to Ms Kelly,” said Max after checking the files in the drawer.
“What else?” asked Steve. Max was immobile.
“Max!” called Dustin. He shook her shoulders.
“It’s here!” said Kagome. Her eyes widened.
“What is here?” said Eddie.
Kagome grabbed Max’s hands and squeezed them. “Max, listen to me. Don’t let him trick you. It’s all in your head. He has no power over you unless you give it to him.” She closed her eyes and concentrated. Lucas, Nancy and Robin arrived. Despite the noise, Kagome didn’t break her focus. A faint glow appeared on her hand. It spread through her and Max’s bodies, covering them in pink light.
With her mind’s eye, Kagome found Max wandering in the school’s corridors. Fear stamped her face. She yelled for her but the girl didn’t hear. She tried knocking on the doors and slamming the lockers but only the sound of an old grandpa’s clock echoed through the halls.
“Who are you?” A guttural voice said. It came from everywhere.
“Let her go!”
“Answer me.”
“That’s none of your business, you creep.”
A humanoid creature appeared in front of her. Its face was covered in what looked like burning scars and tentacle-like things came out its back. It raised its clawed hand and grabbed Kagome’s chin, forcing her to face him.
“Why can't I enter your mind?” Kagome twitched until she realized she couldn’t move. Vecna remained unfazed. “What makes you different?”
Kagome growled. She could hear and feel the others’ worry and Max’s apprehension. Grappling for powers that stayed unused for years, she shouted, “let us go!”
Kagome opened her eyes and met Max's stare, who had also just recovered. She heaved, her chest burning at each air intake. She let go of Max's hand and turned to look at the others.
"Well?" Dustin broke the silence. "Care to explain what the fuck just happened?"
"I heard you," said Max. "I heard him talking to you."
"Who?" Asked Steve.
"Vecna. He said he couldn't get into Kagome's mind. He was intrigued like he couldn't figure her out. Then Kagome yelled and I woke up."
Everyone turned to Kagome. Eddie put a hand on her shoulder and frowned, his eyes full of worry. She looked at him and gave him a stretched smile. Somehow, she wasn’t surprised trouble followed her so far from home. In fact, she grew suspicious of the peaceful years that have passed since Naraku’s defeat.
Kagome assessed her current audience. For years, she feared anyone who heard her history would call her mental or think she was making up things. However, the people surrounding her had had adventures that she could relate to and certainly would at least partially believe her. Travelling back in time wasn’t that far from an interdimensional portal; demons and Demogorgons had similarities; and what were her holy powers compared to telekinesis?
“If you promise to believe me, I will tell you my history.”

Middle of the day
So far I've completed most of my normal daily routine. I went to wok and that was a change from being at home but I still wish that I would have a different job.. better yet be working in a real career. But at least it's something so I won't complain much about that today.
In regard to how I feel today my feelings have kind of been consistent with sadness. I have been thinking a lot about the situation that I am currently dealing with and I can say after rethinking the conversation that we had last night valid points were made by the both of us.
I still wish that I would have never started this issue with us because I do truly feel that this is someone that had the ability to build and develop a beautiful relationship with. I honestly just want us to be able to have a long conversation about everything. I've found that putting all of the issues out of the table helps me be able to process things and fully understand them instead of overthinking situations and causing issues that probably could be avoided.
I miss the feeling of knowing that someone couldn't wait to talk to me and share the details of their day with me no matter how small they were. I honestly just wish I would have never done this. Because honestly I was geniunely happy for the first time in a very long time. Hopefully we can figure this thing out.

I've decided that no one, in canon or fandom, appreciates how clever Kaladin is. His skills in combat and healing are noted and praised, and while those are both big parts of him, so is his intelligence. I'm not saying he never misses somethings, or that he's the smartest person in the series, but he is pretty clever.
The first time we see him in WoK we see he's come up with whole formations and codes to communicate with on the battlefield and taught them to his squad. In Sades' camp, we see him work out the truth that the apothecary is trying to hide, and use it to his advantage. He figures out Teft had a history as a Sargent and Rock's as an archer with minimal help.
He sent a large part of his childhood being schooled, and he wanted to continue that. He point-blank says he wants to learn more in chapter 37 of WoK; where he says he wants to be clever enough to help people and not be made a fool of. And you know how his father responds to that? 'You're plenty clever, son. You've got enough of your mother in you to talk circles around a lighteyes, the university will show you how.'
The only time we see him try to lower how smart he is in chapter 25 of WoK where he uses improper grammar and when his mother corrects him he says it's good enough for others to use. His education and wit make him stand out, which he hates. That's why he never draws attention to it, but it's still there.
And I think we should acknowledge that; because while that's not super shocking for us to have a character who has an education Kaladin is a 20-year-old in a society where men's education is very restricted and being educated/smart is 'unmanly', but that never stopped Kaladin. I feel like that says something about him.

Nigella's Bhorta, Amended
hello, sweet void. i've missed you.
the past two years (i keep reminding myself as i face my next birthday, two years) have taken its toll on us all, demanding payment after so long of getting through it, keeping it together, being brave. cooking hasn't been a feasibility for me lately, with exhaustion finally taking over, folding my body in half and demanding time, time. on the nights i have been able to drag myself off the couch and stand at the stove, i have been making what i like to call Kids Menu Dinners, where I cook a bunch of frozen stuff in the oven, heat up some peas in the microwave and enjoy the soft comforts of beige kinda-food.
lately, i've been trying to listen to the exhaustion, instead of trying and failing to shuck it off, and trust that this isn't forever. part of that is being okay with eating off the Kids Menu most weeknights. another part of it is learning how to make Kids Menu food secretly grown up, nutritious and fancy.
i've been making Nigella's Fish Finger Bhorta, Amended, for the past year and I want to share my heartier version. it's a cheap and versatile make, leaving behind minimal dishes. My favourite part is that it takes no longer than my last-resort oven dinner, and it gives me something chill and noodly to do while i'm waiting.
The result is a warm salad of sorts. it is unfailingly comforting, with flavour in every bite and packed with so much colour- dark green, gold, orange, bright pink. it honestly makes me happy.
I have listed some ingredients below- please know that this is an approximation, my interpretation of nigella's original. for instance, i call for red onions because i never buy brown onions because i like the colour of red onions. i am a nonsense person. please feel free to use this as a base for a dish suited to your life, your nonsense.
Ingredients (serves 2)
4 frozen breaded fish fillets
two big sweet potatoes, roughly chopped/diced
two red onions, sliced so so thin
a big pinch of chilli flakes
a load of squeezy ginger
a load of squeezy garlic
a little yellow mustard/some mustard seeds
salt and pepper
a big big handful of leafy greens (spinach is my go-to)
Optional: Pickled Pink Onions That Taste Like Meanies
one more red onion, also sliced very thinly
vinegar (any, in my experience, will do).
The Recipe
1. pre-heat your oven to the heat specified for your fish
2. prepare your potatoes. i dice my sweet peets, spread them out on a baking sheet with a bit of oil, salt and pepper and it goes into the centre of the oven for about ten minutes before the fish.
3. You can use these ten minutes to prep your onions! slice your onion lengthways, right down the middle. with each half, you'll see the rings now form lil semicircles. gently slice tiny crescents, taking your time- the thinner these slices, the easier they'll caramelise, which is what we'll be looking for. take one of the sliced onions, and pop it in a jar/bowl with vinegar (i use white wine vinegar, because it's what i have.) set this aside.
4. When both onions are sliced, put your fish in the oven and set your timer for them according to the package. During this time, we will be engaging in some low-level alchemy.
5. Get yourself a wide pan or a wok, and pop it on a medium heat. get your spices ready while the oil heats up, and when it just barely starts to shimmer, dump in the onions, chilli flakes, garlic and ginger. Turn your heat all the way down low.
6. Stir, and stir. listen to the sizzling, enjoy the acrid scent of the onions as it gives way to a soft, fragrant sweetness. Open a can of beer, or a fizzy situation, and enjoy this time. be mindful of sticking- the aim here is to cook these babies on low so that they become incredibly soft and sweet. check on your sweet peets every now and again, occasionally shaking the tray a bit.
7. Keep on mooching until your timer is nearing its end. Then, get your spinach and add it to the pan, stirring and allowing it to wilt into all the flavours of the onions. Keep your pan on low, this is not a high-pressured cook. Once your spinch is wilted, taste and season to your liking. I sometimes pop in some more garlic here, because i am a straight-up fiend.
8. Once your sweet-peets are cooked, add them to your pan, stirring them through the spinach and the onions.
9. Once you are happy with your fish and the coating is lovely and golden, use a spatula/butter knife to chop them up a lil bit, being mindful of the baking tray. then dump them into the pan and stir again.
10. Look at your beautiful mess!! lump it into two big bowls. Serve with your pink pickled onions, lemon juice and mayonnaise. Enjoy this amazing thing you have made!

Hey there! You're great at recommendations from what I've seen so I thought I'd ask - can you recommend some romance dramas where it actually gets steamy? I've watched a few where the couple just have one kiss at the end or whatever, I saw Park Seo Joon in A Witch's Romance and I want more 😅
In this house we love kisses!
The dramas below have multiple kiss scenes that are longer and more passionate -- I’m blushing over here :D
Steamy K-Dramas/ Multiple Kiss Scenes
What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim: Park Min Young and Park Seo Joon give the fans what they want in this light and fluffy rom com. I mean, I think I shrieked watching a few of the make out scenes.
Her Private Life: Park Min Young brings the boys to the yard. This rom com is fun, has really cute domestic scenes once they get together, and Kim Jae Wook and PMY are a really pretty couple, I mean just look at that gif below!
Tumblr media
I’ll go to you when the Weather is Nice: And the kissing award goes to: Park Min Young! Yup, a third k-drama where there are multiple passionate kisses and the couple is so so soft and pretty. Overall this show isn’t fluffy but the passion is great.
Search: WWW: Powerful ladies in power suits kissing younger boys who worship them. Lee Jae Wook and Scarlett’s kiss is my favorite!
The Smile Has Left Your Eyes: I don’t want to spoil this drama. I’ll just say it’s a psychological thriller and it’s not for the faint of heart. There are a bunch of great kiss and cuddling scenes but some of them are sad. One of the best k-dramas I’ve ever watched, kissing or not.
You Drive Me Crazy: There are only 2-3 kisses but this show is only 2 hours long and not perfect, but the friends to lovers thing is *chef’s kiss*
It’s Okay That’s Love: OMG this couple is just #hearteyes. They have such a natural chemistry and there’s also a secondary couple that has a really lovely kiss too..
Secret Love Affair: A passionate and serious noona romance with really angsty kiss scenes. I was stressed the WHOLE TIME watching this show but the couple is beautiful and the show is really dramatic and amazingly made.
Tumblr media
Suspicious Partner: If you’re into kiss scenes you probably already have the laundry basket kiss bookmarked lol. This is the show after Healer that sealed JCW as my bias (now ex bias don’t @ me). It’s not a perfect drama but the couple is.
Melting Me Softly: Now, we all know that I dropped this messy show. BUT Ji Chang Wook delivers what he does best a few times: The passionate kiss, pulling away and then going back in. He’s my favorite kisser, what can I say I’m trash.
Wok of Love: I’m constantly baffled that people didn’t like this drama but one thing that must be agreed on: this couple has the best chemistry I’ve ever seen in a k-drama couple. They’re so natural together and their kisses are great!
Fight My Way: Park Seo Joon is kinda like Park Min Young if you think about it. He’s such a great romantic lead and brings out the best in his partner. There are a few really great kisses and lots of friendship angst.
A Witch’s Love: I know anon mentions this but they really do have amazing kisses and chemistry so I highly recommend this one!
Tumblr media
Another Miss Oh: I didn’t finish this drama but Eric Mun and Seo Hyun Jin have so much passion. There’s this one kiss that actually makes ME a little uncomfortable but I can see why other people really like it. And the restaurant kiss is really good.
My Secret Romance: This drama is basically kissing trash and that’s it. I mean you could just fast forward 50% of the drama and not miss much if I’m honest lol. But Sung Hoon is a great kisser!
XOXO!
